Since Neelyâs killing, the station located at the intersection of NoHo and SoHo has become a center for actions protesting the cityâs racist criminalization of its unhoused residents and memorializing Neely. The crimson display, reminiscent of a brutal crime scene, was accompanied by a letter to âcop mayorâ Eric Adams that called out âvigilante violenceâ and the structural imbalances of power and wealth in the cityâs political and social landscape.
âWe are fed up with the attacks on the working class, crime baiting, the austerity budgets, the endless demonizing of the most vulnerable people in our society,â the letter read. âThis wasnât a single tragedy â we are in a crisis. Whose side are you on?â

Seeking ... Something
Iâm in a rather introspective, quiet mood tonight. I donât want to write about he-who-shall-remain-nameless, yet that seems to be the main focus of every news story Iâve read for the past 48 hours. I donât know what I can say about our current lack of adults in Congress ⊠seems Iâve said it all already.  Iâm biting my tongue on the topic of the war between Israel and Hamas, and Iâve alreadyâŠ

Grassroots Vigilante Violence in Haiti
Grassroots Vigilante Violence in Haiti
Grassroots vigilante efforts in Haiti are taking a vicious approach to quelling gang violence. Gang violence in Port-Au-Prince, the capitol city of Haiti, has been at an all-time high this year, after natural disasters, plague, and a government both fiscally and morally bankrupt collapsed. Over 530 Haitians and visitors have been killed in Haiti by gang violence in 2023 alone. The violence,âŠ

âitâs hypocrisy for people who celebrated the idf killing sinwar & nasrallah to be appalled by people celebrating luigi mangione killing brian thompson; either you care about sanctity of life no matter what or youâre okay with celebrating killing terrible peopleâ
as someone who isnât really celebrating either, but is more worried about the latter than the former, I would like to present another option.
there is a fundamental difference between:
killing a member of a military structure as an act of war VS. extrajudicial vigilantism and murder against another citizen
a terrorist organization that exists to destroy a country & slaughter its civilians directly carrying out a massacre with clearcut genocidal intentions VS. a healthcare company that exists to both provide coverage for care to its customers and profit to its shareholders making decisions that indirectly lead to death through a failure to provide care when they prioritize profit over care
an agreed upon military action by official members of a structure that has (ostensibly, or at least is supposed to have) a means of oversight/accountability VS. one rogue person serving as judge, jury & executioner with no oversight or accountability
a military attack that deals a significant & strategic blow to a structure that exists to cause harm VS. a lone act of violence that leaves the injustice structure intact and at most disrupts the means to provide healthcare coverage within that system
on multiple levels, the situations are different. this isnât saying there isnât severe injustice in how healthcare coverage is provided, or that Brian Thompson was in no way responsible for his part in it, but there are shades of bad, and in every aspect, theyâre multiple steps removed in ways that severely change the dynamics.
yeah, if you squint your eyes until all details blur away and boil everything down to âbad person gets bad thingâ they start to look the same, but that is a fundamentally unhelpful & childish way to look at the world.
should powerful people who make unjust decisions & have a larger share in the diffuse responsibility for terrible injustices receive no consequences just because theyâre not directly masterminding it, or itâs an indirect consequence of other goals, or âitâs not personal; itâs just good businessâ? no, of course not. but there is good reason that we as a society have a concept of criminal negligence, and we recognize the difference between manslaughter versus murder. theyâre just fundamentally different things.
no, intention isnât everything, but it isnât nothing. passively allowing violence isnât not violent, but it is still categorically different from actively engaging in violence or directly commanding it. indirect responsibility isnât no responsibility, but it isnât the same as direct responsibility.
it can absolutely be helpful to build a fence around certain offensesââdonât do x because itâs adjacent/can lead to yââto make it less likely that the worse offense will occur or to keep people from abusing gray areas and claiming plausible deniability. but there is a limit to how far you can take that before it starts to do the opposite.
when we keep expanding the criteria of guilt to include more and more steps away from direct, intentional harm as equal to the direct/intentional version of that offense, and we lower the criteria for who metes out justice to just any guy with a gun, and we put the power of judge jury & executioner all in a single personâs hands and we allow the maximum sentence (execution) for even indirect/unintentional systemic harm⊠weâre creating a powder keg just waiting to explode into mass, unchecked, open violence and throwing matches at it. and thatâs not even getting into all the people chomping at the bit just waiting to use this permission structure to attack Jews and queer people
I donât know when we, the three opinions people, started embracing this dualistic extreme black-and-white thinking where things had to all always be x or y way, but we need to do better. cheering on the expansion of vigilantism into extrajudicial execution for untried alleged criminal negligence & corporate manslaughter is a significantly different beast to crab raving or dancing in the streets when a guy who directly masterminded massacres, ruled a totalitarian regime, or dedicated his life to final solution 2: electric boogaloo gets hit as part of a war.

Jinx and Caitlyn are officially my favorite parallels this season and I love what the show is doing.
Jinx and Cait simultaneously lost a parent and were then immediately thrusted into a some measure of responsibilityâ Caitlyn as sheriff, Jinx as a parental figure and almost a partner to Sevika. And despite their upbringings and past history, they pivot to unexpected directions.
Jinx grieves Silco in the River and letâs him go. Weâve only seen Jinx hallucinate once in these three episodes, and it was Silco asking her if she was ready to go. As she exits the river, it intercuts with scenes from last season of her baptism with Silco in the same river. Jinx has finally decided who she is, and without Silco to make her worse (love him, but he did), she almost immediately begins on a path of healing. She rebuilds past relationships by connecting with Sevika, they mutually commiserate Silcoâs memory, and then she makes a gift for Sevika as a bid for connection. She even begrudgingly builds a new relationship with Isha, who has basically imprinted on her like a duck.
Caitâs first appearance is being one of the only clear things in the stylized backdrop of her mothers funeral. The scratchy style of some parts are even reminiscent of Jinxâs visual hallucinations. People reach out to Caitlyn, and while she doesnât necessarily push them away at first, she isnât communicating effectively. Her and her dad have a brief conversation and she springs the enforcer badge on Vi with no context. By episode three, sheâs almost entirely isolated herself from her former support system, told her girlfriend that sheâs not âone of the good onesâ, and uses the responsibility sheâs been given as a weapon.
Caitlyn learns about the air ducts through her motherâs key, which are specifically for directing clean air into Zaun, and immediately weaponizes it. Not sure how long Jinx has known ab them, but sheâs actually the one who uses the ducts to direct clean air into Zaun. And sheâs the terrorist!!
Caitlynâs weapons get upgraded to be more brutal, efficient killing machines. Weâve seen Jinx use her gun, obviously, but one of her bombs is simply filled with glitter. Sevikaâs arm is decked out to play music, shoot fireworks, even has a punch option, which isnât very effective if youâre going for the kill. Theyâre still weapons, but theyâre fun, and arguably less dangerous than the hex core and more authentic to Jinxâs personality. Even the paint in clearing out the air ducts is just that- paint. She could have weaponized it, and chose not to.
Even the small things characterize them! Jinx channels her grief into a creative outlet, while Caitlyn searches for catharsis through violence! A good example is when she seeks catharsis by shooting the cardboard figure of jinx at the pop up gun range.
Theyâre both trying to find final closure through killing someone, theyâre being thrust into roles of leadership, theyâve lost a parent, they now both have a complicated relationship with Vi. Iâm really excited to see how things develop, as Jinx about to become the symbol of Zaun and Caitlyn has just become a puppet dictator.
#and I didnât even really like Caitlyn in season one#side effect of growing up poor#but if thereâs two things I love#itâs a corruption arc AND a redemption arc#I think jinx should be upgraded from terrorist to vigilante but thatâs just me#Caitlyn is in her police brutality era#domestic violence doesnât suit you either cupcake#also Viktor is Jesus#jinx#arcane jinx#caitlyn kiramman#ambessa medarda#vi#vi arcane#parallels#arcane season 2#analysis#me#mine#jayce talis#ella purnell#arcane silco#sevika#arcane sevika#isha arcane#hailee steinfeld#arcane season 2 spoilers#piltover and zaun#hextech#shimmer

Red Hood gets himself into some sort of mess with a cult and as heâs getting himself out runs into Batman. Heâs pissed and being reckless on purpose because itâs the one thing that scares Bruce the most.
Bruce takes a hit and is de-aged and as nice as it would be to call the Justice League or even the bats, Jason doesnât really want to get arrested and resolves himself to figuring it out on his own.
Bruce is uncooperative, non-talkative, and thinks heâs been abducted. Jason has very little time so heâs speed running through a lot of personal things he knows about Bruce and his trauma that he wouldnât tell anyone else about. Neither of them are happy about this.
Bruce stops fighting when Jason takes a bullet for him. It finally sinks in what sort of danger theyâre in and Jason really is doing his best. Heâs trying to get back to the manor without alerting any major players about their movements.
After their understanding, Jason catches himself thinking Bruce really isnât too bad of a kid. He wouldnât say theyâre getting along, but itâs better.
When they do get back to the manor, Bruce refuses to leave Jasonâs side. At all. Alfred is the only one who isnât surprised by this as everyone else tries to approach him and he basically sticks to Jason. (I canât decide what age he should be because either heâs young enough to try and hide behind Jason, who picks him up, or heâs old enough that Jason stands slightly in front of him and redirects his siblings as best as possible without being too obvious).
Jason is benched to recover from the bullet wound and the other batsiblings are out trying to undo the spell. He doesnât press Bruce for anything but does sit next to him on the couch in the library reading aloud. Or Bruce helps him hobble down to the kitchen where they watch Alfred make dinner and talk quietly. Itâs a side of Jason no one thought existed anymore.
Bruce can tell that Jason tenses whenever one of his siblings is in the room, and that puts Bruce on edge because no matter how much the others tell them theyâre safe, Jason remains on alert. All of the batsiblings try and corner Jason since heâs finally at the manor but Bruce is the perfect excuse for them to leave him alone and heâs grateful for the space.
When they do eventually figure out the spell and a way to reverse its effects, Jason and Alfred are the only ones who realize how nervous Bruce really is. Jason talks to whoever is going to do the spell and asks if they donât mind going somewhere slightly more private than the middle of the batcave. Jason holds Bruceâs hand for the spell and tells him to breathe.
When he changes back, Bruce sees Jason looking at him openly, more vulnerable than heâs ever seen him. Itâs disorienting and he doesnât let go of his sonâs hand. He can see Jason about to put his walls back up and pulls, telegraphing everything. He hugs him and tells him thank you for looking after him for the week. He asks about his shoulder. Itâs more words than Jason has heard from Bruce for months. He wants to bristle and fight him except he canât stop seeing all of the ways that the boy he met is super imposed over the image of his father. Itâs throwing them both off. So Jason sighs and tries to relax his shoulders and just leans against his father. Itâs doesnât solve everything, but itâs a start.
#batman#jason todd#bruce wayne#redhood#alfred pennyworth#batfam#bruce panicking because some stranger just took a bullet for him and canât watch another adult die from gun violence#jason seeing how small bruce used to be and canât get the image of him all alone in the manor out of his head#add on the fact that bruce as a child wasnât involved in vigilantism at all unlike the other batbrats so jason treats him like a civilian#alfred watches both of them tense around their very loud or obnoxious siblings with a knowing look#all the other kids keep trying to tease mini-bruce or get him to play a game and he just stares at jason with the wide eyes of a child#who doesnât understand childhood and jason looks back as a kid who died young

more about og tue timeline twins danny and dan/jamie
very touchy with each other. you might even say. ccclingy. its to be expected, they're two halves of a whole after all and all they've got of each other. worryingly co-dependent. do not separate. ever.
Danny was really weak and sick after the initial separation, and was for a while after. Jamie knew internally that if Danny died, he'd take the whole world with it. He was the one sole caretaker for him while he got better -- not for lack of trying on Vlad's part, but without his ghost powers he was nothing more than a feeble (albeit handsomely rich) man, and James looked ready to bite his head off if he got within ten feet of either of them.
Vlad is intimately aware that James (or Danny, if he tried) could snap his spine in half like a twig, and is uncomfortably aware of his own lack of ghost half now. It makes him feel self-conscious and exposed, so he never fully returns back to "cocky and self-assured billionaire Vlad Masters". Making deals with other brands feels a lot harder now that he can no longer possess them anymore.
Speaking of, he very quickly has to come up with a cover story as to why there's now a James Daniel Fenton to the public, when no records whatsoever of him existing existed prior. Lots of forging false government documents on his end. James and Danny do not help because it's his fault this happened in the first place.
(Regardless of whether or not Danny actually willingly chose to rip out his ghost half/humanity in canon is true, or if that was Vlad Masters speaking out of his ass, a large part of the blame still falls on Masters.)
(As his primary caretaker and guardian, it's his responsibility to ensure the health and safety of his charge, and since Danny was in clear emotional duress at the time, it can be argued that he was not in the mental state to make such a decision. And, allegedly, couldn't do it on his own which is why he asked Vlad for help.)
I chose "James" as Dan's name since it's a popular fanon middle name for Danny, and since he's half of Danny, it felt like it just made sense lol. Also because of the ensuing comedy of the two of them introducing themselves as "James Daniel Fenton" and "Daniel James Fenton". It's got the same energy as "danny with a y" and "danny with an i" and it's the exact kind of name bullshit you expect parents to give their twins.
I don't have their exact personalities down, but something I am actively writing into this au's bible is that I think Danny should be the quiet and (ig technically) meaner one. There's a lot to go into about interpretations for ghosts, halfas, and the incident itself, but TL:DW; Danny is technically soulless, or at the very least missing half of his soul (altho Jamie is too just in a different direction).
Pair that with the trauma of losing his family in front of him + having his ghost half ripped out + all the trauma he would've sustained as a hero, and he's not doing too hot mentally! i think if the twins met good timeline!Danny, Danny would've mistaken Danny for Dan and Jamie for the original half.
He comes off to others as pretty apathetic and indifferent to a borderline terrifyingly calm degree. He doesn't go out of his way to insult people, but he also doesn't care enough to consider the other party's feelings so he doesn't filter himself, which makes him come off as rude. The only times he looks truly comfortable is when he's near Jamie or talking to him.
His standoffish, ice prince demeanor makes Jamie look like a saint in comparison. When really he's not all that much better? He's more outwardly emotional than Danny, whether that be positive or negative, but at the end of the day he doesn't trust or care about anyone else any more than Danny does, and he's got a bit of a sadistic streak. Danny reigns him in when he starts becoming too destructive.
(Which I think makes sense. Danny asked Vlad to rip out his ghost half specifically so he could stop feeling his human emotions. Dan, despite his monotone voice, does exhibit emotions. He's smug when he asks Valerie if he likes his ghostly wail, sardonic when he reunites with Sam and Tucker, annoyed, shocked at Danny's ghostly wail, etc. He enjoys wreaking destruction and chaos.)
(If Danny had survived his encounter with Dan and if Vlad was successful, then I imagine he'd be rather apathetic to his other half as a whole. That'd be interesting.)
Overall though they're both hurt, bitter, and distrustful of the world around them, with abandonment issues a mile wide. They can get better and they can heal, but it takes time and patience and proper support.
On the DPxDC side of things, they do genuinely hold some kind of respect or regard for Bruce. They also don't become vigilantes for a while. Neither of them are jumping at the bit to enter heroism again, not when it was heroism that killed their family in the first place.
In fact when they find out Bruce = Batman they think he's foolish for it. They think its a fool's errand, and they've been so spurned by their time as Phantom that for a few weeks, Jamie even refused to call Bruce anything but Sisyphus. Danny called him Tantalus, and the two of them had a faux-argument about which one was more accurate.
Bruce does, though, worm his way into both of their hearts, and that's like, the main reason they become vigilantes to join him. So that they could keep him safe and not because of any desire to return to the heroic life. Relearning to care and finding satisfaction in helping others was an unintentional side effect.
(Bruce is so very smug)
Essentially:
The Twins: this is our squishy and fragile adoptive father. If anything happened to him, we're becoming mass extinction events.

I bring a sort of "Damian is the only Robin who could technically be called a child soldier" vibe that nobody really likes
#forever shaking this concept like a fucking grogger#like#1. robin is about agency and choosing to make a difference#2. you cannot choose something with full informed consent if you have never experienced the other side#3. Damian has lived his entire life as a soldier. he was raised as one. he was taught as one. he does not know how not to be one.#4. he does not think he has value to his father as anything else#5. Damian cannot consent to not having a normal childhood because*he has never had a normal childhood*#like. this is TEXT. THIS IS TEXTUAL.#everyone loves talking about Damian not wanting to be Batman anymore once he's experienced vigilantism or not wanting to commit violence#once he realizes he DOESNT HAVE TO#and how he's gentle and loving and creates art and and and#no one is taking it to the logical conclusion?????#anyways Bruce was right to deny him Robin when he came to Gotham and Alfred (and dick....) should get so much shit from Bruce when he gets#back#mostly Alfred. because it was Alfred and the butler should know better

The number of times I've seen people argue that Bruce is a decent father and that he is not abusive absolutely blows my absolute mind.
Yes, you can hc whatever version of Bruce you want. You can even blame it all on bad writers or reject canon. You can claim comic!Bruce isn't your Bruce and main a different version of him. Those are all valid.
However, you can NOT say that he has ever been justified for hitting his kids. There is no excuse for him willingly laying his hands on his kids. It doesn't matter if the person is drunk, drowning in grief, lost in emotions, whatever. Hitting kids is not okay.
Continually, the physical abuse is a very obvious sign of Bruce being a shit dad in the comics. On top of that, there is so much emotional abuse and manipulation as well. He's shitty as fuck to his kids and there's no reason this is okay. He may love those kids, but that doesn't excuse his behaviors.
Anyways, reject canon Bruce all you want. There's certain aspects of other characters I reject, and DC stands for Disregard Canon. Feel free to have whatever version of Bruce you desire.
What is NOT okay is excusing or accepting canon Bruce's actions/behaviors as acceptable.
#dc comics#dc universe#batman#bruce wayne#I've seen people argue that bruce can hit his kids because they are all vigilantes#what kind of stupid ass logic is that?#tw child abuse#tw abuse#i don't like getting into arguments with people but some of these excuses floor me#âthey're both adultsâ no. that's not how child-parent relationships work#even after a kid becomes an adult the parent still has some level of power over the kid and the relationship is not equal#bruce is and has been the adult for their entire relationship. he's the parent#even if they weren't parent and child people should not be resorting to violence to solve arguments#people out here arguing Bruce isn't a shitty dad at all and still deny it when shown empirical evidence#good dad bruce is great (and shown in some media) but isnât universal#blame the writers or say you don't accept that version of bruce but don't say he isn't canonically shit#yes bruce can still love his kids and be abusive. the two aren't mutually exclusive#bruce wayne bashing

Never Really Knew (DP x DC)
DP Side Hoes Week 2024 Master Post
Day 5: Dani - self-defense
Summary: There were plenty of things she knew, but it was all things that had been downloaded into her head. There was very few things that Dani had actually experienced in her extremely short life. Daniâs trip after being freed from Vlad goes well until it takes a turn into Gotham, New Jersey. Takes place after "Kindred Spirits", but before "D-Stabilized". Â
Word Count: 2173
AO3 Link
Dani had known that traveling by herself would be dangerous. She knew it in the same way she knew advanced mathematics and classic literature. It was knowledge she had but had never experienced, programmed and downloaded into her head. She knew a lot of things this way, and very few things the other way. Dani had wanted to experience everything, to learn the way everyone else did. But she hadnât known, not really, just how dangerous this task would be for her. She doubted Danny knew either, or he probably wouldnât have let her go.Â
Dani wasnât having any trouble with money, so to say, Vladâs credit card covered that, but there were very few places that would both accept credit and let a 12-year-old rent a room for the night. So while she was good on food and any other thing, shelter was a lot harder to manage. It had been fun, at first, buying a tent and camping equipment, and staying at parks while she explored the area, but yet again, a 12-year-old couldn't rent out a campground, so it was a bit riskier every night she stayed. If she stayed in the wrong place or too long, she would get chased out. She lost a few tents this way. She lost a few more to thefts that happened while she was out and about.Â
The campground was fine when she was just about, but they werenât always an option, like in the bigger cities, where she was now. Normally, Dani was able to keep her head low, and hang out on a rooftop for the night, but that wasnât really a good option with vigilantes of Gotham frequenting those spaces too. She had to find a different place to sleep for the night, which she supposes is what got her into this whole mess too. That and not knowing, to an instinctual degree, that she should not have come to Gotham all alone.Â
Dani had bunked down for the night in one of the many abandoned buildings around, even setting up her cot and some of her other camping equipment. This was not where she had woken up.Â
Dani woke up with a full body ache and a piercing migraine, and immediately curled up on herself with a soft hiss. Everything hurt. Slowly, as Dani came to, her senses faded back into focus. It smelt generally terrible, like BO and urine, along with the faint tinge of mold and cigarettes. There was the sound of someone else crying near her, whimpering, and the more distant sound of laughter. She could feel the bare concrete under her as it tried to drain away what little body heat she actually produced. Her tongue tasted vile in her mouth, still full of fuzz with a metallic aftertaste in the back of her throat.
Dani was locked in a dark, generally dingy cell, with the only light coming from a yellow street light that managed to crawl in through the basement window, and a white fluorescent light that climbed under the door. There were a few other kinds locked up in here with her, in various stages of crying or passed out. Some of them were hurt, bad. Dani had been kidnapped in the worst city to be kidnapped.Â
Slowly, feeling her whole body protest, Dani pushed herself to a kneeling position, drawing the other kids' eyes to her. She gave them a shaky smile that probably looked closer to a grimace. Dani felt her clothes and found that all the belongings she kept in her packets were gone. Darn, no more credit card. No more anything, really. Well, that sucked, but it wasnât like they could keep her here for long, ghost powers and all that. Dani should get out as soon as she can, and run for the hills. She was sure whoever had captured her wouldnât even notice one less child.
Dani strained her ears to listen to the voices from under the door, but a sniffle from one of the other kids in the room stopped her in her tracks, shutting down her plan of running out alone. Stupid Danny and his stupid protective streak. She would have to figure out how to get them all out together, and probably fast if the pick up in activity from under the door was any indication. Dani went over to the window, straining to look out of it, trying to figure out where it let out.Â
âHey,â Dani whispered. âDo any of you know where we are?â
There was a soft murmuring among the other children, before a scruffy-looking boy answered her in a thick Gotham accent. âSomewhere in Crime Alley. That window has metal bars in it, no way to get out from there.â
Dani hissed under her breath, letting go of the window sill from where she was straining to lift herself onto it.Â
âDo you know where it leads?â She followed up.Â
âJust some scummy alley.â
Dani nodded, that was at least something good, no one would notice if she passed some of the others through intangibly.Â
âOkay, I can get us out,â Dani declared, keeping her voice intentionally low.Â
âHow do you plan to do that? You a meta or something?â one of the slightly older girls demanded.Â
âSomething like that,â Dani answered sheepishly. âCome on, I can take us directly through the wall,â Dani gestured through the window.Â
The others were too scared to protest, and slowly Dani began to file them one to two at a time through the wall, into the alley above. Every trip burned through her reserves, and she hadnât noticed just how many of them were in the cell with her. After the fourth trip, Dani felt fragile, only able to pass the boy with the thick local accent through, but not able to go through herself, she would hurt herself if she tried.
âButter biscuits⊠I canât get out, Iâm out of energy,â Dani called out. She was going to have to figure a way out, no powers unless absolutely necessary, she might risk destabilization otherwise.Â
The boy peered down at her from the window, looking grim. âIâll go get help,â he stated before leaving her all alone in the room.Â
Dani let herself drop to the ground as soon as he was gone. She felt so tired, vaguely ill, and tried her best not to not fall back asleep, but still get a little bit more rest before the rest of her grand escape. She spent those minutes listening to the voices as best as she could, planning. She really shouldnât use her powers for the next bit, but Dani also really needed her stuff back. It would have to be worth the risk, it was the only way she could really afford anything. All she needed was just her wallet with the card in it. Everything else could be replaced, emergency cellphone included. She might have a window to get it when whatever help that boy had mentioned showed up.Â
The voices on the other side of the door grew frantic along with an even more distant sound of gunshots and shattering glass. The door slammed open, causing Dani to fall onto her back in fright. The manâs eyes were blown wide in fear, teeth bared. His eyes narrowed as he probably noticed the lack of children in the room, and spat out a nasty curse before his eyes locked onto her.Â
âFuck it, we only need one hostage, a half-dead brat will have to do,â the man spat, practically snatching her up by the arms, causing Dani to cry out in pain.Â
Dani had to scrunch up her eyes under the artificial white lights, leading into an open warehouse. She struggled for just a second before there was something cold and metal pressing against her temple.Â
âTry it, brat, and your brains will be blown out all over the floor,â the man growled, and Dani froze.Â
It was a gun. Dani knew it was a gun, and finally, it sunk in just how much danger she was really in, and tears began to run down her face. She didnât want to die! She had only just begun to learn how to live in the first place. She needed more than a few months to figure herself out! Â
The man didn't do anything as Dani began to cry, but one of the other roughly dressed goons in the room, holding an even bigger gun, sent the one holding her a dirty look, before a confused realization passed over him.Â
âWhere the other kids?â The other guy asked.Â
âHell if I know. Only one left was this shrimp who looks well and ready to keel over. Sheâll fucking have to do.âÂ
There was another loud bang as a door somewhere in the warehouse was thrown open.Â
âRed Hood! Donât fucking try it or I off the kid!âÂ
Dani strained to see through her tears and hysterics. Was this guy supposed to be her help? But Dani was already held hostage, how much help could this âRed Hoodâ be?
âYou know I donât like people fucking around with kids on my turf,â a modulated, artificial voice spat.Â
âWhich is why youâre going to let us go, so that this little girlâs brains donât end up splattered all over the ground,â The guy holding the bigger gun argued back.Â
There was a creak from the rafters and the other guy opened fired, sending rounds into the ceiling. A large figure dropped down, returning fire as they fell. Daniâs eyes widened at the heavily armed figure in a red helmet and leather jacket. He was both the coolest and most terrifying person Dani had ever seen. The guy with the bigger gun went down with only a few well-aimed shots.Â
Red Hood towered over Daniâs current kidnapper, who pressed the gun harder into her temple, causing another wave of panic to go through her as her eyes strained to dart back and forth between the man holding her and her âsaviorâ who had just definitely killed someone.Â
âThere you are, you shitty bastard,â her kidnapper growled. âNow!â
Gunshots came from a completely different direction, catching Red Hood by surprise, but not before he managed to take out one of the two new assailants, and a stray bullet slammed into the arm holding the gun to Daniâs head. The man recoiled, practically tossing both her and the gun aside, forgotten. Dani ducked down, scrambling the best she could away from the center of the fight, but exhaustion and a horrible pinch in her ankle weighed down on her entire being.Â
Dani looked back after hearing a few more gunshots. The guy who had been holding her was dead, but Red Hood had taken a couple of hits himself, stuck kneeling as the final kidnapper pointed his gun directly at Red Hood. He was going to be killed, and then Dani knew she would quickly follow him. Panic seized her body and core, dredging up what little energy it could. She couldnât let Red Hood be killed, Dani didnât want to die.Â
Dani dove for the gun that had been tossed away in her. The knowledge of how to use a gun quickly clicked into place, just like all of those other things she knew and had never experienced. Dani was keen on never feeling the chill of a live firearm in her hands again, nor the image of the man dropping dead from a clean shot as she fired.Â
The gun clattered to the ground and Dani was well aware that Red Hood was full-on staring at her beneath his helmet.Â
âKid-â the modulated voice called out, but Dani yanked on her invisibility, pulling as hard as she could, running off.Â
Dani had killed someone, sending full-on shivers and nausea through her, compounded by the protests of her fragile anatomy as she tried to maintain invisibility. She quickly found her things, which had been haphazardly tossed into a corner, snatching the wallet and nothing else. It felt like she was falling apart.Â
Dani made it to the exit before Red Hood spotted her again.Â
âWait!â He called out, sounding panicked.Â
Dani couldnât help the reflexive glance back, likely showcasing the bright glow of her eyes, and the thick trickle of ectoplasm as it seeped out of her nose before she fled into the night. There was cursing and heavy steps behind her, so Dani did the only thing she could and transformed as soon as she was out of direct eyesight, doing her best to ignore the familiar sensation of destabilization as it began to set in. She even ignored the swear-storm of the vigilante she left behind in the alley. Dani was going back to Amity Park as soon as she could, but she now knew, deep in her gut and in the sour taste of ectoplasm in the back of her throat, just how dangerous it could be on her own.

Cass + ballet đ©° (ft. supportive siblings and good dad Bruce)
I love the idea of Cass enjoying dance. It's an outlet that allows her to express herself without words, and I think she would enjoy the highly technical aspect of ballet combined with its storytelling and emotional side. and as a former dancer I always have fun imagining my fav characters do ballet :)
#ft good older bro dick grayson. and supportive babs and steph. and good dad bruce#sewing pointe shoes in the batcave as one does#cass jus having fun#dick and cass bonding over how they both enjoy stretching and falling asleep in the strangest positions#the rite of passage of trying pointes for the first time#bruce watches her first performance and she gives him a big hug#listen yall when i saw that comic panel of cass seeing ballet for the first time and the way it just Made Sense to her#i havent been normal since#i also just love the idea that eventually cass decides to take lessons and makes friends and learns things she'd never considered because#i think she'd be able to replicate most of the steps just by watching because of her training but she would be coming from#a background focused on martial arts and fighting and not. art and storytelling#and i'd love to see that being explored more. cass using her athletic skillset in something so unrelated to vigilante life#creating beauty instead of causing violence#clearly i've thought about this too much#if you have fic recs PLEASE GIVE THEM TO ME#i haven't read a lot of comics either outside of the first half of cass' batgirl run so recs for comics abt cass welcome as well!#clarisse doodles#dc#cassandra cain#batfam#batgirl#black bat#dc fanart#ballet

âThe Killing of Moon Knight,â Vengeance of the Moon Knight (Vol. 2/2024), #9.
Writer: Jed MacKay; Penciler and Inker: Devmalya Pramanik; Colorist: Rachelle Rosenberg; Letterer: Cory Petit
#Marvel#Marvel comics#Marvel 616#Vengeance of the Moon Knight#Vengeance of the Moon Knight vol. 2#Vengeance of the Moon Knight 2024#Moon Knight comics#latest release#Moon Knight#Mr. Knight#Marc Spector#Hunterâs Moon#Yehya Badr#Max Coleridge#the «Dr. Moon» look is critically underused#that aside#this is one of those cases where even if you see a twist coming I at least am not mad about it because it works so well within the story#I didnât want to see Marc going back to just killing people because someone told him to#and this loophole fits so nicely where Marcâs at now (as perhaps best evidenced in that last panel)#Marcâs still the same adrenaline hound but what really gets me is the contrast#Marc saved Maxâs life not to lord it over him for the rest Maxâs days/demand penance or servitude#but all he requests/ wants is for Max to genuinely get better#(itâs strategic in that that means the community wonât have that brand of vigilante violence going down#but itâs also personal in that he believes Max can get better and FEEL better#something Marc believes because if it could happen to him it could happen for just about anyone)#in /direct/ contrast to Khonshuâs demands from his servants in exchange for their lives
