Cat Wellness Check from Veterinarian
Tumblr media
A regular cat wellness check with a veterinarian is essential for keeping your feline friend in the best possible health. During these check-ups, your vet can spot potential issues early, ensuring your cat stays happy and comfortable for years to come. From checking their weight and coat condition to assessing dental health and overall behavior, a thorough wellness check covers all the important aspects of your cat’s well-being. These visits also allow your vet to provide guidance on proper diet, exercise, and preventive care tailored to your cat’s age, breed, and lifestyle. Prioritizing these check-ups not only improves your cat’s quality of life but also gives you peace of mind, knowing that they are well taken care of.

Regular wellness checks are vital for your cat’s overall health. Our veterinarians will carefully evaluate your pet’s physical condition, from their weight and skin to their heart and lungs, ensuring everything is in tip-top shape. Catching any early signs of illness helps keep your feline friend healthy and happy for longer.
Preventative Pet Care & Cat Vaccinations
Vaccinations and preventative treatments are crucial for protecting your cat from common diseases. During the wellness check, we’ll ensure your cat is up-to-date on vaccines and provide advice on flea, tick, and worm prevention to keep them safe.
Cat Nutrition & Weight Management Guidance
Every cat has unique dietary needs. Our veterinarians offer tailored advice on feeding routines, portion sizes, and proper nutrition. We also monitor your cat’s weight to prevent obesity and other health concerns, helping them stay at a healthy weight.
Behavioral Health Insights for Cats
Cats can sometimes show subtle changes in behavior when they’re not feeling well. During the checkup, we’ll also discuss any changes you’ve noticed in your cat’s behavior, offering advice on how to address issues like anxiety, stress, or any unusual habits.
Why Regular Cat Wellness Checks Are Crucial for Your Feline’s Health
Regular cat wellness checks are an essential part of maintaining your cat’s overall health and longevity. Just like humans, cats need routine checkups to catch any underlying health issues before they become serious. During these visits, veterinarians assess everything from weight and coat condition to dental health, helping to detect any potential problems early. Early detection is crucial for preventing conditions like heart disease, kidney failure, and diabetes, which can go unnoticed until symptoms are more severe.
These regular visits also help ensure that your cat is up-to-date with vaccinations and preventive treatments. Staying on top of flea control, deworming, and other essential health measures is much easier with a vet’s guidance. In turn, this routine care helps your feline companion live a longer, healthier, and more comfortable life.
What to Expect During Your Cat’s Wellness Checkup
During a cat wellness checkup, your veterinarian will conduct a thorough physical examination. They’ll start by assessing your cat’s overall appearance, including coat quality, weight, and skin health. They’ll also check the eyes, ears, teeth, and gums for signs of infection, dental disease, or other issues. A stethoscope will be used to listen to your cat’s heart and lungs, ensuring there are no signs of cardiovascular or respiratory problems.
The vet may also perform tests to evaluate organ function and rule out common issues such as parasites or kidney problems. Depending on your cat’s age and health history, additional tests like blood work or urine analysis might be recommended. This comprehensive checkup ensures that your cat’s health is monitored and maintained at every stage of life.
Top Signs That Indicate Your Cat Needs a Vet Visit
Cats are notorious for hiding discomfort, making it challenging to know when they’re unwell. However, certain signs indicate that a wellness check or vet visit is needed. If your cat is suddenly more lethargic, has lost interest in play or food, or is exhibiting changes in behavior, it could be a sign of an underlying health problem. Additionally, noticeable changes in their coat, such as hair loss, excessive shedding, or skin infections, may indicate issues like allergies or parasites.
Another critical sign to watch for is changes in litter box habits. Increased or decreased urination, along with signs of pain while using the litter box, can point to urinary tract infections, kidney disease, or diabetes. Vomiting, diarrhea, or unusual coughing are other red flags. If you notice any of these signs, it’s best to schedule a vet visit for a thorough examination.
How a Cat Wellness Check Prevents Long-Term Health Issues
A routine wellness checkup for your cat can prevent long-term health problems by catching issues before they escalate. Many chronic conditions, like kidney disease, arthritis, and diabetes, can develop slowly over time, often with few noticeable symptoms early on. Regular checkups give your vet the opportunity to spot these conditions in their early stages and begin treatment immediately, helping to slow progression and improve quality of life.
Additionally, wellness exams are essential for addressing common problems such as dental disease and obesity. These conditions can lead to serious complications, including heart disease and organ failure, if left untreated. By regularly monitoring your cat’s health, you not only prevent long-term problems but also ensure that any issues are treated promptly and effectively, providing your cat with a healthier, more comfortable life.
How to Prepare Your Cat for a Stress-Free Wellness Check
Preparing your cat for a wellness checkup can make the experience much less stressful for both you and your pet. Start by getting your cat used to their carrier well in advance. Place treats, toys, and bedding inside the carrier so your cat associates it with positive experiences. It’s also helpful to practice short car trips to help reduce anxiety. Once at the vet, try to stay calm and reassuring, as your cat can pick up on your emotions.
During the exam, your vet will be gentle and efficient, but it’s important to give your cat time to adjust to the new environment. If your cat gets overly stressed during vet visits, talk to your vet about possible solutions, including anxiety-relief products or calming techniques that can help make future visits easier for everyone involved.
Understanding the Importance of Cat Vaccinations During Wellness Exams
Vaccinations play a crucial role in your cat’s overall health and well-being, and they are often part of a regular wellness check. Vaccinating your cat helps protect them from serious, potentially life-threatening diseases such as feline leukemia, rabies, and feline distemper. Your veterinarian will recommend an appropriate vaccination schedule based on your cat’s age, lifestyle, and health status.
In addition to core vaccinations, some cats may require additional vaccines if they go outdoors or are exposed to other animals. These vaccinations can prevent infections like Bordetella, feline herpesvirus, and others. Keeping your cat’s vaccinations current ensures they are protected from preventable diseases, and a wellness checkup is the perfect time to ensure they’re up-to-date on all necessary shots.
How to Maintain Your Cat’s Health Between Wellness Visits
Maintaining your cat’s health between wellness visits is just as important as the checkups themselves. Regular grooming helps prevent matting and allows you to check for skin issues, fleas, or signs of infection. Additionally, keeping your cat’s teeth clean with dental treats or brushing can help prevent dental disease, which is common in cats.
Maintaining a proper diet is another key element of health. Ensure your cat is eating a well-balanced diet appropriate for their age, weight, and health condition. Regular play and exercise also help keep them active and prevent obesity, which can lead to many health problems. By staying proactive with these steps, you can help ensure that your cat remains in good health until their next wellness check.

Not a happy face! Bridget went for her one year exam and a couple shots at Leck Veterinary. Thank you to Kerry (who might see this 👋 ) and to Dr Amanda for Bridget’s clean bill of health. She’s gone into hiding now. I can only hope to see her before bedtime.

𝑺𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒔𝒑𝒆𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒍/𝑨.𝑩𝒐𝒏𝒎𝒂𝒕𝒊
Tumblr media
It was a busy Wednesday at the clinic, one of those days when the waiting room was packed with anxious pet owners and the phones never seemed to stop ringing. You were running on coffee and sheer determination, the day already off to a chaotic start with back-to-back surgeries and checkups. There were only three veterinarians working today, and you’d just wrapped up a particularly tricky procedure when the receptionist flagged you down for your next appointment.
You nodded, grabbing the chart and glancing at the name: Aitana Bonmatí. The name didn’t ring a bell, but then again, you weren’t exactly well-versed in local celebrities or sports stars. You stepped into the waiting room, scanning the crowd until your eyes landed on her.
She sat in the corner, her hands gripping the handle of a cat carrier resting on her lap. She was petite, her dark hair tied back in a neat ponytail, dressed casually in a hoodie and jeans. Despite the packed room, she looked calm, though there was a hint of nervousness in the way she glanced around. When your eyes met, she offered a small, tentative smile, which you returned instinctively.
“Aitana?” you called, and she stood up quickly, clutching the carrier like it was a lifeline.
“Sí,” she replied, her voice soft.
You gestured for her to follow you. “This way,” you said, leading her down the hallway to one of the exam rooms.
Once inside, she set the carrier on the table but didn’t open it. Instead, she looked at you uncertainly, as though unsure of what to do next.
“So, what brings you in today?” you asked, flipping through the chart.
She hesitated, biting her lip. “Uh…” She pulled out her phone, tapping a few buttons before holding it out to you. On the screen was a google translate displaying a message in English: Sasha needs her checkup and vaccinations.
You smiled, nodding in understanding. “Got it. A checkup and vaccines.”
She nodded vigorously, clearly relieved that you understood. “Sí,” she said again, her cheeks flushing slightly as she tucked her phone away.
Your Spanish was rudimentary at best, but you decided to try anyway. “Habla inglés un poco?” you asked hesitantly, hoping to gauge how much you could communicate without relying on her phone.
She laughed softly, shaking her head. “Un poco,” she admitted, holding up her fingers to indicate a small amount. Then, she tilted her head. “¿Hablas español?”
You winced playfully. “Un poco,” you echoed, earning another quiet laugh from her.
“Well,” you said with a grin, pulling out your own phone, “looks like Google Translate is about to be our best friend.”
She smiled at that, her shoulders relaxing a little as you opened the carrier door.
“Let’s meet Sasha,” you said, gesturing toward the inside.
Sasha was a beautiful black-and-white cat with sharp green eyes that peered out at you warily. The moment you reached in, she hissed and swatted at your hand, making you pull back with a soft laugh.
“Oh, feisty one, huh?” you said, glancing at Aitana, who looked mortified.
“Lo siento,” she said quickly, clasping her hands together. “She… scared.”
“It’s okay,” you reassured her, pulling on a pair of gloves. “Most cats are.”
You tried again, this time moving slower, speaking softly to Sasha as you gently scruffed her and lifted her out of the carrier. She let out a low growl but didn’t resist too much as you set her on the table.
“She’s just a little nervous,” you said, then added in broken Spanish, “Está un poco nervioso.”
Aitana’s eyes widened slightly at your attempt, and she gave you an appreciative smile. “Gracias.”
As you began the exam, you tried to keep the atmosphere light, chatting to Sasha as though she could understand you. “Let’s see those ears. Oh, nice and clean. Good job, Sasha.”
Aitana watched you closely, her brows furrowed slightly in concentration as though trying to follow what you were saying. You noticed her expression and decided to slow down, switching to simpler phrases. “Sasha… healthy,” you said, gesturing toward the cat. “Todo bien.”
She nodded, her relief evident. “Todo bien,” she repeated softly, almost to herself.
The vaccines, however, proved to be a challenge. The moment you tried to hold Sasha still, she squirmed and let out a yowl, her claws catching your arm in the process. You hissed softly, pulling back to examine the thin red scratch that now adorned your forearm.
Aitana gasped, her hand flying to her mouth. “¡Lo siento! I’m sorry! Lo siento mucho!”
You shook your head, already grabbing a tissue to dab at the scratch. “It’s okay,” you said, smiling at her to show it wasn’t a big deal. “Just part of the job.”
But she still looked horrified, her hands fluttering uselessly as though she wanted to help but didn’t know how.
“Really, it’s fine,” you said gently, switching to Spanish. “Está bien. No pasa nada.”
She relaxed a fraction at that, though the guilt didn’t entirely leave her face. “Sasha… no like doctor,” she said.
“Most pets don’t,” you replied, giving her a reassuring smile.
With a little patience, and a lot of treats, you finally managed to administer the vaccines. Sasha was less than pleased, letting out an indignant meow as you returned her to the safety of her carrier.
“All done,” you said, straightening up and giving Aitana a thumbs-up.
She looked at you uncertainly. “¿Terminado?”
“Sí, terminado,” you confirmed, and her face lit up in relief.
“Gracias,” she said, her voice heartfelt as she reached for the carrier.
“De nada,” you replied, wiping down the table and disposing of your gloves.
As she prepared to leave, she paused by the door, glancing at you hesitantly. “Um… you… okay?” she asked, gesturing toward your arm.
You looked at the scratch, which had already stopped bleeding, and gave her a reassuring smile. “Perfectly fine. I’ve had worse, trust me.”
She still looked uncertain, so you decided to lighten the mood. “Sasha is tough,” you said. “But I’m tougher.”
Her lips quirked into a small smile, and she ducked her head, clearly amused but still a little bashful.
“Don’t forget to book her next checkup,” you reminded her as she opened the door.
She nodded quickly. “Sí, I will.” Then, after a brief pause, she added softly, “Thank you. For… being patient.”
You waved her off with a grin. “Anytime.”
As you watched her walk away, Sasha’s carrier swinging gently at her side, you couldn’t help but feel a strange warmth in your chest. You didn’t know much about her—didn’t even recognize her as a famous footballer—but something about her lingered in your mind long after she left the clinic.

🐈‍⬛EMERGENCY COMMISSIONS TO COVER VETERINARIAN BILLS🐈‍⬛
I found out today my elderly cat possibly has Lymphoma. In addition to that, I recently took in a rescue, month old kitten who needs a lot of checkups due to respiratory inflammation. I would appreciate any help covering the vet bills.
Art examples and prices here: artistree.io/narukyuu
Pixel has been my guardian angel for 12 years. She kept me alive when I was at my worst, overwhelmed by stress and depression. I have been preparing myself for the possibility that she will be gone at some point - but until then I want her to live as well as possible.

Could I request Vanitas with a veterinarian partner?
Tumblr media
“Are you going to be much longer? I’m hungry.”
“Just a little Vanitas, then I’ll be ready to lock up for the night and go to dinner.” [Y/N] said while he spun around on one of their stools.
They were taking notes from their clinic visits today. Diligent as ever about their work, [Y/N] would not leave until everything was in order and ready for the next day. He appreciated that about them. Or…at least he did now….
When they first met, Vanitas had not been so beguiled. Murr had been sick. Or at least that was what Noe insisted, all teary eyed and frantic, as he rushed him to the vet for a checkup. Distraught, he begged Vanitas to come with him, which he agreed to only to get the yelling to stop.
Once they arrived at [Y/N]’s clinic, it was like the atmosphere suddenly shifted. The room felt calm and serene by their presence, [Y/N] able to sooth both Noe and Murr seamlessly. Vanitas had to wonder if it was some kind of World Formula trick at first. In reality, it was just them.
Turns out nothing was wrong with Murr at all. He was just being a picky eater. That had been the end of his visits, but Vanitas kept coming around as if he was some sort of a stray cat. Looking for scraps and affection. Or was it just scraps of affection?
“There! All done. Now we can---“Please someone help me!!”
[Y/N] and Vanitas both rush to the front door to see what the commotion was. There stood a young girl. Holding a limp looking puppy in her arms. “My Elosie…she was struck by a carriage…” She explained through fat tears and hiccupped breathes. “Please! You have to save her!”
[Y/N] immediately went to look at the dog. Their expression serious, but then they looked back to catch a glimpse of Vanitas. “It’s alright. Go on.” Whatever plans they had was no where near as important as this now. A vision from his childhood flashing through his mind of similar fat tears, but no one to rescue the mutt he’d called his own that followed the trope around.
“Ok. Sweetheart, I need you to give her to me and we’ll take a look. I’ll do everything I can to help her.”
“I don’t…I don’t have any money…”
“That’s not important now.”
[Y/N] carried the dog to the back, brushing past Vanitas, with the little girl hot on her heels like a shadow. [Y/N] was very diligent at their job. They would be at this all night if need be to save the dog’s life. So, he decided it would just be best to leave. Come back later, with bread and salads and custards, and ask how it went. He didn’t believe in God much anymore, but he said a little prayer to someone that it would be alright and another small prayer for [Y/N]’s skilled hands.

Cat Tales

Cat sleeping on the table? No problem. Nikolai isn’t the slightest bit bothered by Biellmann taking a nap while he eats breakfast.
Tumblr media
Boris: If he’s calling the vet, I swear to Cat…
Nikolai: Hello? I’d like to schedule an appointment for Biellmann, Butterfly and Boris Pavlenko, please, Yes, regular checkup for all three, and we’d like to speak to the veterinarian about having Boris neutered, now that he’s fully grown.
Boris: Oh, he’s gonna be toast. I’m plotting vengeance even as we speak.
Tumblr media
Mishka loves the cats, but he’s also a neat freak and isn’t thrilled that Nikolai allows them to go literally everywhere. He especially dislikes them being on the kitchen counters and the table, and it’s a source of friction between him and Nikolai.
Tumblr media
Mishka: I thought we agreed the cats aren't allowed on the table? You might not care about cat hair on your plate, but I'm tired of cleaning the table multiple times a day.
Tumblr media
It seems Nikolai didn't react very well to Mishka's complaints.

This is what it looks like when you're frustrated with your partner but you're also sorry for venting at him.

A Demidevimon whose Tamer is a veterinarian, and helps him in his work
DemiDevimon helping his Tamer who is a veterinarian...
Wants to cuddle every animal, especially all the dogs and gets very excited when one walks into the clinic.
Not a cat person, and cat seem not to be big fans of DemiDevimon as well. Try to swat at him and always hiss and growl at him.
When a child comes, so they won't distract the pet during the checkup, he goes talk to them and keep them busy.
Personally wants to keep all the dogs that end up staying overnight, but his tamer has to remind him they already have their family they must return to.

Not even playing I read that as vegetarian for like 5 minutes 😭😭 thank you for the request, @neptunes1nterweb ! This was so much fun to write and super cute, I love animals so this was honestly partly self indulgent!
cw: fluff, kissing, lowkey pretty wholesome considering who’s writing it, mentions of pet loss

Ayato generally didn’t care too much about animals. Never hurts them, of course, but he’s never been interested in adopting pets. When he met you, Inazuma’s best veterinarian, that all changed. He saw how affectionate cats and dogs were with you and not only was that really something he found cute, your animal whispering abilities, but it helped him develop a soft spot as well.
Sometimes he’ll stop by your clinic and gaze admirably at the sweet couples taking their pup for a checkup, or perhaps getting some medicine for their snake. Whenever on break, he likes to accompany you to the back room where the recovering pets rest. Most of them are awfully tuckered out, coming off of anesthesia or recovering from an illness or injury.
Letting them give his hand a sniff, he waits for a subtle headbutt before scratching them behind the ear or with reptiles, letting them crawl on his fingers. He’s especially fond of black cats, he finds their mysterious nature to be awfully cute. Sassy and mischievous creatures, but sweet lap cats when they warm up to him.
He especially enjoys spending time with kittens and bottle feeding them. You teach him how to do it initially and he catches on quickly. Ayato’s more so of a quiet guy so he prefers cats in comparison to dogs, but he’s great with both species.
Probably his favorite animal to play with are mice. To take care of, definitely cats or dogs. He finds mice fascinating little creatures with their swift cleaning methods or the twitches of their noses.
On heavier days, sometimes it’s harder for Ayato to comfort you. He’s never been good with grief or the emotions that come along with death. Nevertheless, seeing you down in the dumps is enough to bring him down to that level as well and he knows it’s his responsibility to bring you back up. Going out and playing with the strays is something the two of you do occasionally.
𝐓𝐇𝐎𝐌𝐀 ♡
Thoma of course loves animals, always has and always will. When he started dating you and found out you were a vet, his heart skipped multiple beats. A beautiful woman who also cares about the lives of little animals? Nothing could be more attractive to him.
You loved working with Taroumaru as well as the other pets in your clinic. As he was your dog as well, you spent plenty of time with him and always offered him a plentiful amount of treats. Thoma loved watching you take care of him like you would a child.
Thoma’s favorite thing to do with you is cuddle up next to you on a cold winter night with Taroumaru in the middle of you two, his fluffy body sat atop weighted blankets.
He knows how your profession can affect you and is good at comforting you, say after a hard day. It’s hard letting go of sweet animals and it’s hard for you to be the one to send them across the rainbow bridge, but you know you’re doing it for their own good. Nonetheless, it hurts to see the sad expressions of parents and children after losing their beloved pet.
He’ll hold you and stroke your hair as you breathe heavy into his shoulder, too desensitized to cry but not yet enough to brush off the emotion you feel. His embrace grounds you and reminds you that there’s good in what you do, and he reminds you of all you did to help.
Overall really enjoys seeing you at work. He finds your face of concentration adorable and he loves seeing the variety of pets that come in and out of the clinic.

A horrible, not so good, very bad visit
Summary: Gertrude despised the note stuck to her fridge.  Mike, Michael, Helen, Simon. Veterinarian. 10/29, 2.15 pm
A/N: This was a way to award myself after a horrible, not so good, very bad Friday and Saturday. And yes, it's another cat avatar au. Yes, the date is the day night when I posted this.
Also, fun fact: I forgot the word "pet carrier" when writing this.
Not beta read, just me, a document and google
Pt 1, Simon, Peter, Elias and Mike / Pt 2, Michael and Helen Distortion, Agnes / Pt 3, Annabelle, Jude, Oliver / Pt 4, Maxwell, Manuela, John, Jane / Halloween bonus!
Gertrude despised the note stuck to her fridge.
Mike, Michael, Helen, Simon. Veterinarian. 10/29, 2.15 pm
It was hard enough getting one cat for their checkup, four was nearly impossible. Simon was usually alright with going to the vet. He did not seem to care about being poked around. Mike was a bit worse, not liking being poked and moved by strangers and even worse had been checking the scar. Helen and Michael were just always hard to handle. Causing chaos and confusion wherever they went. The worst was bringing those four together considering the fact that, well, Mike did not get along with the siblings.
“Don’t be like that.” Gertrude sighed. Mike had made himself comfortable on the top shelf. She had pulled two pet carriers, firstly wrestling Helen and Michael into one that could fit them both. Secondly she had called for Simon who did not protest as he got in the second one. She had then called for Mike who saw the two carriers and climbed up the tallest shelf.
“Come on down, the others are waiting for you. Better get down and get this over with.” Mike hissed at that. Pressing himself even more towards the wall. “I’ll get Jurgen.” An even longer, angrier and louder hiss. Gertrude sighed. She looked around the room for anything to get Mike down with. ‘Aha’, her broom was still out from her last time cleaning.
The visit was not any better. Simon had gone first, luring the poor veterinarian to a false sense of security. Mike was meant to go after, though he held onto the soft fabric put on the floor of the carrier with his claws, hissing at the humans. So Michael had to go second. There was no fighting but he had enough energy to give power to all the electronics in the building. Helen was just slightly better, not as much running around, but the energy she did have combined with her dislike towards the veterinarian was enough to not have as peaceful of an experience as Simon. They managed to get Mike out eventually and gave him an extra treat once they were done.
It was much nicer as they got home. Mike had found Oliver by the window and curled up by the still -but awake- cat, only for him to fall asleep there. Leaving Oliver to stay still even longer. Michael and Helen had not managed to stay awake for more than 10 minutes either, leaving the house a bit calmer. Simon had found his way to Peter and Elias. Gertrude decided that she deserved a nap after the hectic day.

I really wanted to write my own "Cat Effect" story.
"Doctor, can I ask you something"?
Doctor Karen Chakwas looked up from her data pad to find Garrus Vakarian looming in the doorway of sickbay. She noted with satisfaction that his facial scars were healing properly as he closed the door behind him.
Karen had treated her share of Turians over the years. From the earliest days after the liberation of Shanxi aboard the SSV John R. Fox , learning on the job alongside Turian medics and doctors the differences in physiology between both species, to treating diplomats and visiting brass on Archurus station ailing everything from hangovers to high running fevers. Yet no Turian encountered in those twenty nine years seemed to get injured as frequently as he did.
She swiveled her chair around to face him properly "What can I be of assistance with Garrus? You don't appear injured."
The Turian raised his talon tipped hands up before him, palms outstretched defensively.
"Not the case today, sorry if I got your hopes up Doctor. No it's about...the cat."
She couldn't help but smirk at the mention of 'the cat'. A stray that wandered aboard sometimes before. The entire crew seemed smitten with it. She wasn't a veterinarian herself but a basic checkup proved the animal healthy if a tad underweight. The crew saw fit to fix that, seeming to revel in fattening the feline up with treats or scraps from the galley.
"What about it? She hasn't gotten herself into any trouble again has she"? At least once a week the cat seemed to find itself in some mischief, knocking Corporal Westmoreland's favorite mug off a counter or chasing Liara's drone around the ship. Harmless really.
"It's constantly following me, sneaking into the main battery well I'm working. Rubbing against my side. Yesterday it jumped into my cowl well I was eating in the galley."
She suppressed a smile imagining the sight of a seven foot tall Turian soldier being menaced by a mere house cat. "And..."? She asked.
"Do felines...imprint of people? Is it obsessed with me because of some animalistic bond or boundary I crossed"? He asked, looking worried.
Karen much to his dismay tried her best to suppress a snort of laughter. Garrus gave her a worried look.
"No Garrus, well domesticated felines can be quite friendly, she certainly is too old to have imprinted on you. Although its obvious shes comfortable around you. The truth is..."
"What Doctor?" He asked. Chakwas tried again to suppress a grin
"Well I'd imagine to a cat, Turians are essential large, moving, heated scratching posts. No doubt your subharmonics are similar to a cat's purrs as well. She's just very comfortable around you. You're familiar to her. She must find it relaxing around you."
Garrus stared at her, eyes wide.
"So it's..." He gave a slight warble of uncertainty.
"She's just being friendly. Nothing to worry about Garrus I assure you. If you need space I can see about having EDI try and keep the cat out of your quarters from now on."
"No!" His voice was louder in the confines of the medbay. She blinked in surprise. He gave her a sheepish look, his mandibles fluttering "No doctor. They won't be necessary. Thank you for answering my questions." He quickly stood out of the medbay,
Karen watching him head towards the battery through the windows. The cat, splayed out on a table in the galley tracked him with its head as he passed by, before hopping down onto the floor, scurrying after him with a short "meow."
Now, without the risk of hurting Garrus' pride, Dr. Karen Chakwas let out a truly hearty laugh.

People who import Pokemon as pets usually seem to be rather... lax on their training. They want to have the Pokemon, not care for it. Imported Pokemon are often extremely badly-behaved as a result. Thus, many veterinarians dread appointments for import Pokemon.
Today was a pleasant surprise when I helped give a checkup to Silvervine the Sprigatito. A sweet boy who was extremely affectionate, but also very well-behaved and would sit and allow me to poke and prod at him as needed. He even let me stick a flashlight in his ears, which most feline Pokemon hate.
(He had a small ear infection in the inner ear, not uncommon in young small cat Pokemon.)
That one minor health issue aside, he was the picture of perfect health, and clearly well-loved and well-trained. I wish more people would take such care in giving their Pokemon such behavioral training. It would make the lives of veterinarians, and the lives of their owners, much easier.

My WALL-E OCs
Have I told y’all about my funky little bots yet?
Tumblr media
D-J is a DJ bot who was built to entertain passengers aboard the Axiom. D-J units can be programmed to say anything you need them to, but having achieved sentience, this defective unit in particular can talk on his own. Often, he randomly points out his observations, like his observations of what others are up to. He is great at interacting with an audience and with whoever he wants to talk to. D-J relies on engaging stimuli to stay happy. If the atmosphere around him is too boring or dull, he'll be able to liven up the place. Usually, D-J will not know what's going on unless he is informed of it. He has a very open attitude.
D-J units were built to provide entertainment whenever it is needed. They are most often seen in the ship's nightclub, but they can also entertain you right in your cabin. They are sometimes used in the all-day care center, playing nursery music to help the babies sleep well. If they need to, they will play music for a funeral. A D-J unit would definitely provide music for WALL-E and EVE's wedding, if they had one.
The D-J bots have two different ways of playing music. Place a CD on their turntables, and they'll play the music on that CD for you. You can also listen to the radio by turning it on on the back of their heads. You cannot do both of these things at once. That could break them.
As an addition to their musical and verbal capabilities, D-Js are able to sing. When two or more of them sing together, they can create beautiful harmonies unless one of them isn't tuned right. Yep, they work like musical instruments; when they were first built, they had to be tuned. Defective D-J can't sing well, and he doesn't know why.
D-J goes about his own business much of the time, but he sometimes hangs around with the reject bots, M-O, EVE and WALL-E. He considers all of them to be fun friends, and he is a huge fan of WALL-E and EVE as a couple. These robots have welcomed him into their little friend group.

V-T (pronounced "vet," as in "veterinarian") is a hovering bot made to take care of the Axiom's animals.
V-T units are programmed to be compassionate and knowledgeable about zoology. This particular unit is very much this, but she gets excited literally every single time she sees an animal. This excitement can make her malfunction. She is known by other robots to be a big fat sweetie pie. She loves to hang out with her friends and to make sure they're okay. She also likes moving her "ears" to and fro to match her expressions. When she's not caring for critters, she practices her new hobby of sewing, and she sews creations for her friends. She "cries" a bit too much.
Some animals live in their own rooms on the Axiom while others are kept as pets. Often, people dress them up in BnL vests, leg warmers or collars. All of the animals on that starliner in particular are small animals such as dogs, cats, hamsters, parrots, bunnies and others. There is a veterinary clinic on the Axiom where the V-T units groom them and examine them. If you need to, you can call a V-T to your cabin so she can give your pet a checkup there.
V-T bots are equipped with different medical tools depending on what branch of veterinary medicine they practice. Not only that, but they also have fun toys (like tennis balls and chew toys) and toys that can be used for stress relief (like heated plushies). This V-T loves to have fun with animals, and her extreme excitement whenever she sees one isn't a defect; it's just a part of her personality.
V-T's friends are all bots who work in maintenance, like FIX-IT and POW-R. A more major character that she likes to hang out with is BURN-E. Being good friends with him, she often checks up on him. BURN-E is glad that he's got a supportive friend like her. After landing on Earth, V-T adopted some pets of her own- a bunny, two guinea pigs and a snake, which she and BURN-E love to play with.

An endangered red panda has given birth to two cubs in a zoo in southern Germany's Baden-Württemberg state.
The Karlsruhe Zoo announced the birth of the male and female cubs on Friday in a Facebook post. It said the birth was the first for a red panda inside the zoo.
What do we know about the offspring?
The two cubs were taken out of their den on Friday for their first checkup with a veterinarian, a zoo spokesman told the German DPA news agency.
The zoo added in the Facebook statement that they were both microchipped.
"The offspring of the red pandas are developing very well," the zoo said, adding that they were born on June 25. They currently weigh 410 and 500 grams.
"The cubs will spend the next weeks in the den and will be cared for by their mother Akuti," the statement added.
Only thousands of red pandas remain
Red pandas are among the world's endangered species, according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) says fewer than 10,000 of them remain on Earth.
Only a little larger than a domestic cat, the pandas are also characterized by their bear-like physique and thick-russet fur.
Their name is believed to derive from the Nepali word "ponya," which means bamboo/plant-eating animals. Despite the name, they are not closely related to the bigger pandas.
The species mainly lives in the Himalayas, in countries including Nepal, India, Bhutan and Myanmar.

🇺🇸🇵🇹🇧🇷 How old do cats live and tips for them to live longer. Several factors affect your life expectancy, two main ones are race and lifestyle. They usually live 15 to 20 years, but some live much longer. .
.
The Birman (or Sacred Cat of Burma), Siamese, Burmese and Persian breeds are at the top of the list, while the Bengal, Abyssinian and Ragdoll are the least long-lived. In general, mongrel cats seem to live longer than purebred cats.
Females also have slightly longer lifespans than males. .
.
Tips to prolong the life of the cat:
Keep it indoors whenever possible! .
.
Neutered cats live longer because they are less likely to roam at night or fight with others. Surgery is usually performed when the cat is about 4 months old, but it can be performed at any age. .
.
Keep him at a healthy weight. Do not overfeed him and encourage him to move around, for example by playing with him and incorporating games at mealtimes. .
.
Buy quality, nutritious and balanced feed. Make sure you have specific sources of protein (chicken, salmon, lamb, etc.) and not generic “meat”. Avoid feeds that contain a lot of grain. Offer wet food (sachet or can), which contains a lot of water. .
.
Provide clean, fresh water. Cats develop liver problems because they don't like water very much, and they have problems in their hydration. .
.
Take him to the vet for regular checkups. Once a year is sufficient, except in an emergency between appointments. The veterinarian can also diagnose, treat and prevent parasites such as fleas and worms. .
.
Keep him happy! He needs to be stimulated. Make the house pleasant by giving her toys, cat tree, cozy corners and perches. Still, there's nothing like sharing special moments with him, so spend more time together. .
.
Cats have 7 lives? It's an ancient Egyptian legend, they have always been seen as mysterious animals.
Guinness Book says that the oldest cat in the world was Creme Puff, from the USA, female who died in 2005, at 38 years and 3 days old! Equivalent to 168 human years!

.
Dicas para para prolongar a vida do gato:
Mantenha-o dentro de casa, sempre que possível! .
.
Equivalente a 168 anos humanos!
