At Kaer Morhen, Vesemir noticed Jaskier is skipping dinners. A conversation with the bard reopens old resentment toward humans and leads to a bad judgement. Harsh words are shared but kind too. And maybe Jaskier will finally find the comfort he needs. [Vesemir POV][Muse Saga]
All major characters are there but it's mostly Vesemir and Jaskier centric.
Warning : this fic contains references of alcoholic behaviour, suicidal thoughts. Description of a wound. Blood (not too much)
I want Jaskier to be accepted by the witchers... so I used the thing Vesemir and he have in common to develop their relationship into something. The edit says it all... I hope you'll enjoy.

Cuddle pile
It's cold. It's so fucking cold that Ciri thinks she may honestly ask the gods to take her to the next world, because nothing can be as cold as this. She's got two pairs of leggings on, two pairs of socks, one of Geralt's tunics, her pair of gloves that Eskel had found for her, and she's buried underneath several blankets. Yet, she's so cold. She's so fucking cold.
The door opens, she can hear the squeak of the hinges. Footsteps come towards her, she can tell by the gait that it's Geralt, he's trying to be quiet, but he knows she's awake.
"Ciri?" she peaks out of her cocoon of blankets, one eye blinking up at him. His lip twitches, and he reaches towards her. "Cone here, it's too cold for you to be here alone. Especially with the fire refusing to catch."
She realises that the fireplace and the torches are dead. How many times has somebody came in and tried to warm her, only for the wind to blow it out?
Her thoughts distract her enough that Geralts breath upon her cheeks startle her, but she doesn't jump when his arks finally pick her up, blanket cocoon and all.
She makes a questioning noise, but never says no to Geralt giving her a hug. She's carried like a baby out of her room, out of the wing, down two flights of stairs, down another corridor, a third set of stairs, before they end up at the kitchens.
She makes a confused noise. It can't be breakfast time yet, the keep is pitch black to her puny human eyes.
"Why're we here?" she asks, rubbing her tired eyes.
"It's too cold, even for us. Gotta rest." Geralt says. Ciri blinks at him.
All in all, the witchers are good when it comes to her sleeping. When her nights are plagued with the horrors of her past and future, and she wakes up screaming with wet cheeks, the witchers let her sleep in whenever her rest finally turns peaceful and dark. They allow her afternoon naps after training and chores are done, and send her to bed when she stumbles into the dining hall with dark circles under her eyes. Early nights and late starts aren't punished, and as long as training and chores are completed at some point in the day, the witchers don't particularly care when it happens. Hell, shes been wrapped up like a baby by Lambert of all people when they had determined she needed a sleep.
Which is why it shouldn't be surprising when he turns the last corner and finds five Witchers laying a couple feet away from the cracking fireplace underneath the stew pot. They've got blankets and pillows and furs, and look rather comfortable. Laying all over each other, looking rather like a puppy pile. Even Aiden joins in with the snuggling.
"Pups." Vesemir rumbles when he sees them both. Geralt puts her on the floor, kneeling down next to her.
"Come here, girl, get comfortable. Gonna be making camp here for a couple'a days." Coën clarifies when he sees her confused face. Ciri blinks, but nods. These things make sense, and she's seen all the men here hug, but admittedly, this is the first cuddle pile she's been privy to.
She turns upon her side, feeling Geralt curl behind her, trapping her in with his arms, wrapping her in another blanket. She hums, wrapping her hand over his, before Eskel pulls them both close, and she smiles, closing her eyes, feeling the warmth seep into her.
And tonight, she will sleep sweetly indeed.

I need you all to understand this okay. Geralt monster autism is a given but: Eskel academics and Signs autism thats why he's so good at them and Lambert is alchemy autism which doubles as herbalist autism. Vesemir is cooking autism and if you bring him hard to get spices or ingredients he will be Vibrating on the spot about it to try and contain his excitement
#the witcher books#kaer morons#vesemir wasn't born with the cooking autism but then he started raising The Holy Horrors#and suddenly cooking was very important to growing boys and he just got Invested okay#the dad instincts took over and before he knew it he was tinkering with recipe's and exploring new avenues

Sometimes I just like to think about what it could've been if Geralt had gotten Ciri right after Pavetta and Duny died. If Calanthe was so weighed down by grief she realizes she can't take care of Ciri. So she orders Moussack to go find Geralt to collect Ciri. Imagining Geralt in a random tavern somewhere in Temeria, slowly making his way up to Kaer Morhen for the winter as autumn is approaching. Him having a gut feeling he should head up early, he thinks it's because something is wrong with Vesemir so he's anxious to make it through. But Roach needs to rest and well, it wouldn't hurt to get some extra supplies for the winter. Certainly wouldn't hurt to get some extra booze so he has relief from Lambert's grating voice on his ears. Besides, he and Eskel can stay up late and drink to their hearts content up in his room like they used to sneak around when they were teens.
Then out of the blue he sees Moussack, and dread fills his entire body. He doesn't keep up with news outside of what Dandelion tells him. So when Moussack is telling him Calanthe is summoning him he's thinking "oh fuck, she's changed her mind and is going to execute me."
But Moussack reassures him he's not going to be harmed. Calanthe is asking for him because of his child surprise. And now Geralt is really worried. What happened to them? Are they okay? Are they hurt? Did they die? They're only a few months old, there's so much that could've gone wrong. So he agrees to go with Moussack.
Calanthe looks a mess when Geralt sees her. Eist is by her side as always, trying to comfort her. Pavetta and Duny are nowhere in sight and it's making Geralt extremely antsy. Calanthe tells him the news, her voice is hoarse from all the crying she's been doing. Geralt sympathizes with them, gives them his condolences. And then that's when he realizes "oh. OH. OH NO". Sure enough Calanthe tells him she can't take care of herself, how could she care for a baby. Geralt refutes telling her "they're your grandchild, I don't want to rip them away-" and Calanthe tells him then it's a girl. And for a split second his brain gives the helpful thought of "oh I have a daughter" and Geralt is having an internal meltdown right there in the throne room. But he can't refuse. His entire basis for not coming back and claiming her is because she has a family who cares about her. But now that family is saying that they can't care for her, not because they don't love her, but because they do. So Geralt agrees to take her.
The first time he meets her he is entirely captivated by how small and precious she is. The moment he holds her he feels overwhelmed with such a fierce protectiveness and he can't help but absolutely adore her. He is trying so hard to stay stoic and unemotional but the moment he's alone with Ciri back in that old tavern he'd been at he just holds her and smiles. If he'd been a normal man, he probably would've burst into tears by how happy he was. (he did later once she got settled into Kaer Morhen, when he and Eskel did end up drinking up in his room. They're talking about the usual things, and then he looked over to her in her makeshift crib and just started bawling. Eskel freaks out and asks him what's wrong and he replies "I just love her so much."... Yes Eskel teared up.)
Then he has to go through the lovely moments of "how the fuck do you raise a baby" which Vesemir watches with so much amusement. Geralt raided most of Kaer Morhen's library and Nenneke's office for books about parenting. (Kaer Morhen has none, unsurprisingly.) He eventually asks Eskel to go to Oxenfurt and grab Dandelion and any books about parenting, childhood development, psychology and women's health he can find. (He is DREADING eventually having The Talk with Ciri but he won't be unprepared.) Dandelion is completely awestruck with Kaer Morhen of course however, nothing shocks him more than seeing Geralt looking bone tired with a 5 month old baby wailing in his arms, trying to soothe her.
"uh... What ya got there, Geralt?"
"H e l p."
Where's Yennefer? What about Yennefer?? Geralt is hesitant at first to even tell Yennefer he has a kid. But she sends him a letter one day, asking him where he is now that it's coming up on spring. (Ciri's first bday!!! Yay!!!! Also oh gods planning a birthday?!?!?!?? That's a thing??????) So he does tell her, and she understandably to her character demands to see this child surprise. So again, sends Eskel on out (pls Geralt, he's your childhood best friend, not your errand boy.) to go get Yennefer. Yennefer storms through the main hall, not even acknowledging Lambert and Vesemir, and right up to Geralt. How did she manage to find her way through the halls without ever being there before? Geralt doesn't know and he's scared by it. Yennefer spots Ciri, who's doing her tummy time. To which she's very fussy about and gives the nastiest glares an almost 1 year old can to her father. Yennefer is absolutely gobsmacked that Geralt was being genuine. She points to Ciri, then to Geralt, then back to Ciri, to Geralt.
"YOU?????? HOW????"
"I'm really bad at making jokes."
Yennefer adores Ciri, but Ciri is a little skeptical of her. Who is this strange woman????? Where is her dad?????? Where's her other dad (Dandelion)???? How dare she smell nice and be warm???? Ugh as if she'd let her feed her!!! No way! Yennefer is always completely drenched with baby food whenever she attempts to feed Ciri. Geralt tries so hard not to laugh at her. Ciri is absolutely seething by the end of it and is only contained when Geralt picks her up and holds her securely. Then it's like little devil Ciri never existed, she's all smiles and babbling happily to her dad. Yennefer gets really disheartened over it. Late at night she ends up crying over it, thinking it wouldn't matter if she was able to have kids or not; Ciri proves she'd be a horrible mother anyway. Geralt doesn't know what to say at first, but he knows it's not true. Yennefer is trying her best, it's just that Ciri is really fussy. She even fusses sometimes when Dandelion holds her. He tries to comfort Yen, and ends up deciding the best thing to do is hold her and tell her that she's doing amazing. He doesn't think she believes him because she's still got a very somber look on her face the next day. She becomes reluctant to take up care of Ciri because of the incident. Well about after the third day of this Ciri gets fussy again. Geralt is taking a well deserved nap day. He's back in his room snoozing away. Yennefer and Dandelion are with Ciri in the library, one of the warmest places in the keep. Dandelion wipes his hands of the ink that stains them and picks her up and checks if she's soiled. She isn't, so he asks if she's hungry. She thrashes around in his hold and turns in search of Yennefer and starts grabbing towards her. So Dandelion hands her over to Yen. The moment Ciri's resting against Yennefer she settles down.
"huh, guess she just wanted her mommy." Dandelion comments and Yennefer starts crying. (Dandelion's face morphed from aww to OH FUCK)
The bigger Ciri gets the more rambunctious and energetic. Geralt couldn't be prouder that they're all raising her to be genuine to herself and that they've broken the generational trauma. Vesemir pats Geralt on the shoulder one day and tells him "I'm proud of you, Wolf" and damn, if that doesn't make him want to cry. He doesn't of course, only meeting Ciri made him cry from joy. And oh how she gives Lambert a run for his money. It's hilarious to see a 60-something year old argue with a 4 year old. They get into the most stupid arguments too. "blue is better than red!" Or "I'm taller than you" which is the most absurd because it's always Ciri who starts it. Geralt thinks it's because Lambert is the shortest besides Vesemir. But Vesemir has only become short due to his old age, and Ciri already gives him a hard time for that. ("Why are you so fat and old? Aren't you a Witcher like Daddy?" She said once and Vesemir just paused and looked at her like "why would you say that to me". She burst into a giggle fit at his crushed expression.)
The argument will always, without fail, go:
C: I'm taller than you.
L: no you're not? I'm 5'11!
C: well I'm 8 feet tall!!!!
L: more like 2 feet tall!
C: NO! SEE
Then she'll stand on the chair so she towers over Lambert.
L: fine well I'm older.
C: no??? My birthday is first
L: NO ITS NOT?
C: YEAH IT IS
L: NO APRIL IS BEFORE MAY. AND IM 67, YOU'RE 4
C: uhhhhh I hate to break it to you, but no you're not. You've been lied to your whole life.
L: W H AT WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE????
C: uhmmmmm god.
Then when Coën finally meets one of the Wolves and comes up to Kaer Morhen he's shocked to see someone so young. At the time Ciri was around 7. She calls him ugly and walks away to the stables. Coën is just left flabbergasted while Lambert and Eskel are laughing their asses off. Geralt apologizes to him, while trying to hold in his laughter. Coën becomes like an older brother to Ciri, and he gets on her good side by helping her prank Lambert.
When Ciri hits 12 she does get her period, and Geralt is like "OH GOD OH FUCK HOW DO I TALK TO HER ABOUT THIS I DONT WANT TO MAKE IT-" and Yennefer walks into the room and goes "I told her, we're good."
Then comes the "boy talk" Where Ciri brought up that a character in a romance book was attractive and Geralt went into "No one is good enough for my baby girl" dad mode and brashly announced "you're not allowed to date boys until you're 21."
Yennefer slaps him on the arm and Ciri looks at him almost offended.
"jokes on you I don't even know if I LIKE boys. Maybe I just like this character's personality." She replies sassily. Geralt cannot argue with that logic. (And yes 2 months later, she goes on a day trip with Yen and talks to a girl her age. She comes back and Geralt asks her how it went and she says "I definitely like girls." And walks up to her room to take a nap. Geralt celebrates as soon as she leaves "YES!!! I DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT SOME BRUTE MESSING WITH MY DAUGHTER FUCK YEAH" Yennefer reminds him that some women are just as bad and he crumples to the floor in agony. Now he has to worry about brutish women hurting his daughter.)
Essentially, I just love that Geralt has a daughter, and that he's so proud of her and loves her so much. Their relationship is just so 🥹❤️ I adore them.

Y'all ever think about how Young!Vesemir would still have to take contracts to provide for the Kaer Morons
Give me little Witchers who are left alone in a cramped room above a tavern for days at a time, told to sit tight and keep quiet and not draw attention because they're surrounded by humans and he won't be there to protect them
Little Witchers teaming up to look after Vesemir when he comes back from a hunt injured and exhausted. Double-mutated Geralt gets Stitching Duty, because he's got the steadiest hands. Eskel sits by Vesemir's head and distracts him during the unpleasant bits. Lambert gets sent out to make sure Vesemir's horse is stabled/untacked/fed/watered/groomed, and Remus goes running down to the innkeep to make sure Vesemir is fed and watered too.
Little Witchers who realise, as children inevitably will, that their parental figure is struggling, and try to ease the load. Geralt will venture out to forage for potion supplies while Ves is away. Eskel learns to charm free meals out of motherly innkeepers with compliments or the offer of helping out with chores. Lambert is a shameless little thief, but sometimes he'll filch something Ves can sell when their coin is low.
Vesemir who freezes in place the first time he comes back to a tavern, bloody and covered in mud, and is greeted by a gaggle of little Witchers running to hug his legs, because? He's their only stability. He's their protector, their provider, the only source of positive attention they really have. He's often sarcastic and short-tempered and sharp-tongued, but they miss him when he's gone, and they feel safer when he's back.
Vesemir who goes from oh no, absolutely not, every single one of you sleeps on his own bedroll to ugh fine whatever but the first one of you little bastards to kick me is getting yeeted when the pups all dogpile onto his bed after he's been away a while or someone has a night terror or he's hurt and they're worried about him.
Vesemir who shrugs off hateful comments aimed at him with a snarky comeback, but will absolutely throw the fuck down with anyone who starts in on his boys.
Little Eskel and Geralt - the oldest, the first to notice that Ves will go hungry so they can eat when funds are low or opt to replace Lambert's boots over replenishing his potion ingredients - who always ask to tag along on hunts. They can help! They'll be useful! They won't get in the way! They want to pull their weight!
Vesemir who actually realises that his own relationship with his father figure was more distant than he would've liked, as a boy. He idolised Deglan, wanted his approval. Deglan took a special interest in his training, served as his mentor for his first year on the Path, called him an affectionate nickname. But never hugged him. Never said he was proud of him. Always taught him that Real Men Need No One, young feller, now let's have none of that pansy nonsense.
Vesemir who sees the pups go from fearing him to missing him and trying to look out for him and seeking affection from him when they're scared or sad or pleased to see him, and makes a conscious decision that actually, Deglan, you were wrong. Yes, being cruel to be kind is often essential to Witcher training: it's a tough, dangerous, survival-of-the-fittest lifestyle. But real men hug their fucking kids
Just. Jesus I am like two years late to this party and absolutely consumed by single dad Ves feelings send help

Wolf Witchers have Mutagen Lineages.
Back in the earliest days, after the schools split, the mages of the wolf school were constantly experimenting with how different mutagen, trial, and spell combinations affected a witcher's mutations, abilities, and survival rate.
Eventually the mages decided to keep a few bases to work from, a few control subjects, so they could have an idea of what changes did what.
These 'bases' being the earliest successful Wolf Witchers. The few that lived through the primordial undiluted Lets-See-How-This-Kills-Them trials.
Building from these bases lead to lineages or 'lines' of wolf witchers that show similarities in their mutations.
For Example: One line is physically bigger but is anaemic, another has more chaos energy but tires quickly, one has the most enhanced sense of smell but hearing little better than a human's, and another has a sixth sense for danger that borders on prophetic but gets crippling migraines.
The young trainees aren't told whose lines they're from, but it quickly becomes obvious as their trials progress.
The Witchers that were the bases weren't told what the mages were doing either, but they were quick to catch on when trainees started coming off their slabs with Mihail's lurid orange eyes, or Jakob's long fanged lisp, or Halamut's tall twitching ears.
The ones that could bear it took it upon themselves to be mentors. Teaching the pups their tricks for managing the side effects of their mutations, and banding together to find new ones when whatever the mages twisted became more than the pups could cope with.
A few became bitter and resentful. Harassing and intimidating these false unwanted copies of themselves, going out of their way to make them suffer in any small way they could.
Others took to avoiding all pups of their line. Some out of guilt and some for simple disinterest.
It became tradition that if a witcher brings a child in from the path they're to be made of the same line.
There's also the unwavering unspoken rule that if a pup is dying the one that's to see them out is their progenitor. Whether that's giving them mercy after a mortal wound or holding them as they wheeze their last.

Oh my god this is so sweet and heartwarming ❤️ You’re definitely one of my favourite authors when it comes to all things The Witcher and especially for your Eskel fics ❤️❤️❤️ currently rereading everything as I miss all the wolves together ❤️❤️❤️
Vesemir Meets Eskel’s Daughter
A/N: Quite a while ago, I got an ask about Vesemir meeting each of the wolves’ kids, so here he is meeting Nadia. Hopefully I will have the other ones out in a reasonable time but we’ll see :)
Warnings: none, pure fluff
Word Count: 3.3k
Summary: Unexpected company shows up at your door, but they certainly aren’t unwelcomed. (I suck at summaries sorry lmao)
***
The wood in the fireplace crackled. Frost covered the windows, but they were sealed tight so the chill couldn’t get in. Outside, a bitter wind pushed against the side of the house.
You sat in front of the fireplace, holding a plate with a slice of apple pie on it. Eskel was laying just in front of you with Nadia. She was sitting on his lower stomach leaning back against his bent knees, cooing and chewing on her fingers.
You put the spoon in your hand down on the plate and reached out to comb your fingers through Eskel’s dark hair. His eyes flickered up to you.

So, I had a terrible (hilarious) idea:
There's about a million stories of Lambert bringing Aiden to Kaer Morhen for the first time, but what if Lambert brings Aiden AND HALF A DOZEN OF HIS BROTHERS to Kaer Morhen for the first time?
He just shows up, and Vesemir is like "Lambert...who have you brought with you..." 😡
And Lambert's like "oh, this is my new horse." And just. Pretends that he doesn't have his secret lover, VESEMIR'S secret lover (Guxart), Aiden's adopted Cat dads (Cedric and Axel), and two of his closest brothers (Gaetan and Kiyan). All of whom look very bedraggled, although Guxart is grinning rather horribly at Vesemir.
And Vesemir thought Geralt's bard was going to be the most trouble this winter...

Of gentle wolves and healing princesses
It's a slow process, all things considered. It had been impressive enough that Ciri had even woken up from her injury at all, let alone begun to heal from it. Vesemir tells the twice grassed pup that even fully grown witchers have fallen from injuries like that one. But still, the girl awakens.
Because of the fall, her head had been banged up pretty tightly, Eskel and Vesemir taking turns changing the bandages and boil washing them in their best bet to ward off infection. But as the days go by, Geralt watches Cirilla remain awake for stretches longer and longer, even starting to respond to stimuli and respond to questions at the end of the first week of bed boundness.
Coën takes to slowly maneuvering her limbs as she's in bed. Bending her knees and extending her arms and rotating her torso. It's to keep her blood flowing, he tells the wolves, before admonishing them for their lack of knowledge on the clotting of human blood. Not enough movement could still the blood and kill her just as easily as the fall or infection could. Geralt is just greatful the Griffin has the instinct to take such good care of the white wolf's pup, for his instinct is to still protect the girl fiercely.
Lambert is the least helpful when it comes to Cirilla's recovery. He drank himself into a stupor the first night she had fallen, and had his face pummelled in by Geralt on the second. It had taken all four of the other witchers to separate them both, the two growling witchers thrashing as they fought with fists flying instead of the wooden swords of their youth.
By the start of week two, Ciri can swallow broth and thin soups, can move her body after vials of pure poppyseed milk to stop the pain, and Geralt is relieved when the bandages come off that reveal a clean wound, sewn up and sealing over with scabs and iodine. They keep a bandage on there just in case, but nowhere as dramatic as the others she had been wearing all that week.
After the wound is closed, Eskel and Coën and Geralt wash Cirilla's hair clean of the multitude of fluids that maar the girl's pretty blonde hair. Vesemir took the time to brew up a soup with small cooked root vegetables, while Lambert was scheduled to make more healing potions thag wouldn't melt the poor girls insides.
By week three, Cirilla can wash herself with a flannel and eat thick soups of barley and potato. She can sit up by herself now and hold a slow conversation. Her words are slow, slurred and take a while longer to understand their responses. Lambert drinks himself into a bucket again, and Vesemir tans his hide for it.
Geralt is impressed as the girl begins to get restless in her bedrest and sees the spark returning as she tries to get up and explore. He feels like Vesemir when he tells her that she needs to walk before she can run, but will stay by her side as she steadies herself and holds her hands as she climbs to her feet.
The witchers are honestly mighty impressed that it takes them only a day to start walking the length and around Ciri's room, and only another fir her yo walk from one wall to the next without Geralt's hands to support her, even if she falls into them when she's scaled this hurdle.
Day by day, they walk a little further in the keep and Geralt carries her less and lesson their way back. Her words get quicker in speed and understanding and the promises of a visit yo the horses or the hunting dogs or the livestock keep Cirilla motivated when she cannot put one foot in front if the other anymore.
But they get there, one step at a time, a harem of large, mutated witchers and a pretty princess who has just as much strength as them.

It's always a little funny to me whenever I read a fic of Geralt being, like, embarrassed when someone compares Vesemir to being a father figure for him because in The Last Wish he has literally no problem calling him that himself. If anything I think Vesemir's the one who wouldn't know what the fuck to do about it when Geralt admits it so easily in front of him

I still say that people never would've adopted the mother/daughter narrative if society didn't looooovee putting everyone into rigid nuclear family boxes for some reason 😪
I find it hilarious that half the fandom is like
“Tissaia and Yennefer are soulmates, they are meant for each other, they love each other. I ship them so fucking hard. Like my heart.”
And then the other half is like
“They are mother and daughter, tissaia/trauma/yennefer. Tissaia loves yennefer... but like as a daughter”
....... reblog with which one u are
“Team soulmate”
Or
“Team M&D” (mother and daughter)
#team soulmates forever#tissaia sensed yennefer before she even walked into the ballroom during episode 3#that is soulmate behaviour okay#i think part of it is also because geralt and ciri and yennefer formed a 'traditional family' in a sort of way#so they want to copy that onto other characters in the show like vesemir as geralt's dad etc#i don't agree with it though#you can be family without those labels#tissaia is yennefer's family but it doesn't have to be motherly

all i'm thinking about is that one post I made about Vesemir owning 1 tiny dog named Duchess that terrorizes either Lambert or Geralt (I can't remember which so both atp) Alternatively thinking about Ciri bringing home a dog and Geralt being the "I don't want that damn animal" Dad Trope and then becoming besties with it.

Kaer Morhen family moments I would have to draw if I had any artistic talent whatsoever
Vesemir leaves the little witchers inside the keep while he deals with the dead. One by one, they come out anyway and quietly help him collect medallions from the fallen wolves.
Little Geralt getting a ride on Vesemir's big black charger. Vesemir walks him round the castle grounds for like an hour.. Geralt talks about nothing but horses for days. Vesemir has created a monster.
Geralt teaching Ciri how to groom Roach, because Roach is "a good listener". It's therapeutic, and she can tell Roach about everyone she misses from Cintra. Scorpion sticks his head over the stall wall to investigate so she does him too.
Vesemir taking young Eskel with him to feed the goats and like, they're a resource to him, he uses them for milk and meat, but Eskel is just a kid and he wants to pet and play with them, and Vesemir just sort of lets him because it's the first time he's actually seen Eskel laugh.
Eskel showing Ciri how to bottle-feed Lil Bleater
Vesemir with a yowling, scrabbling Lambert in a headlock, trying to drag a brush through a matted mop of curls. There are grotty, bath-averse prepubescent boys, and then there's this asshole.
Lambert showing up to dinner with his hair nicely braided back off his face courtesy of Ciri, because he's sorry he was an arsehole about all her girly shit. He snaps at Geralt and Coen to fuck off you whoresons for looking at him sideways, and Triss gets a grumpy don't gimme that look, merigold, but he doesn't take the braids out.
Vesemir letting the wolf pups try to lift his sword. It weighs more than they do. They're just about managing it between them. This probably counts as teaching them teamwork, right?
Ciri gleefully waving Geralt's sword over her head, because she told him she could do it, she knew it wouldn't be too heavy. Geralt raises an eyebrow over Ciri's shoulder at Yennefer, who's holding the sword up with magic and only sort of trying to look a little bit guilty about it.
Vesemir draping his cloak over the dogpile of baby witchers fast asleep in front of the campfire, before he decides it's safe enough to take them back to Kaer Morhen.
Vesemir many decades later, draping a blanket over Geralt, asleep with his head tilted back against the couch and an illustrated bestiary open on his lap, and Ciri, asleep with her head on Geralt's shoulder.

Vesemir giving geralt Dad advice when it comes to ciri:
"So learn from my one and only parenting mistake, bedtimes need to remain consistent, no letting them stay up late on weekends"
***
Lambert in the background about to lose his shit. "One and ONLY parenting mistake?!?"
