Natsuki Dating an Assassin Reader Headcanons

Pairing: Natsuki Seba/Reader (Romantic)

Contains: Gender neutral reader, no pronouns used, jealous Natsuki (but not towards the reader).

Author's Note: This is for the requester who asked for a jealous Natsuki with an assassin reader. I wrote it in bullet list form instead because I'm lacking the motivation to write anymore. I'm sorry, I hope I got his character right and you're still able to enjoy it. Thank you @jasminerva for helping me out again, this fic wouldn't be finished without her!

Even before you guys started dating, it's hard for the both of you to meet up and spend time together because you are in a different department.

However, you won't let it stop you. You always look for him whenever you have free time in your hands. Sometimes, you'll even skip your classes just to see the man you adore working on his weapons in his lab.

Natsuki often would tell you to go away, saying that you got your own work to do instead of slacking off in here with him. He did it because he didn't want you to fail your classes and trouble you, but he didn't tell you his reasonings directly. Because you're a stubborn person, you insisted on staying and promised him that you wouldn't get in the way of his work.

Your feelings slowly grew from there on, and so did his. You both started dating at some point. If you confessed first, he wouldn't respond for the first 20 minutes. Not because he didn't like you back, but because he had a hard time believing you.

Although Natsuki's greatest talent is making weapons, he would learn to make and fix non-lethal gadgets and equipment that can help you with your daily tasks. For example, he gifted you a machine that can make and cook your instant noodles in under a minute. Pretty handy when you're working on an essay and want a quick meal in the middle of the night!

He will remember it if you casually mention or rant about something that bothered you. Even if you don't ask him directly, he will work hard on upgrading your weapons or think of new equipment that could solve your problems if he's able to. However, he will act nonchalant, as if he didn't spend all nighter by pretending that the idea just popped into his head randomly when he hands them over to you. (The bags under his eyes clearly says otherwise)

He'll even grab some old weapons that Mafuyu didn't use anymore, adjust them to suit your ability and size before giving them to you.

Despite his laidback attitude, he enjoys teasing you and being playful to see your cute reactions. He loves seeing you riled up because of him.

“And this cloth–” Natsuki started explaining as he pulled out a red fabric with clock patterns on it, because he promised you to give you a tour of his lab. “If it covers something underneath it, it could manipulate its time to backwards.”[1]

“Whoa!” You looked at him in awe and your hand carefully touched the fabric. “Is that really true?”

“No.”

“...”

You stare at him with your brows furrowed, looking unamused at his little joke. Natsuki's lips twitched a little, he's fighting back a playful smirk from forming on his face to kept his stoic expression.

“What? You actually believed something like that exists?”

No one knew that you had a boyfriend, and no one bothered to ask. Natsuki spend most of his time in his little corner in the lab, he even took naps there. People barely see you two together outside of it. But when they do, they assumed you two are just very good friends.

“I got your letter… You said you wanted to meet me on the rooftop. What is it that you wanted to say?” You asked your nervous classmate, ignoring your other classmates who were obviously hiding and eavesdropping to your conversation.

“Yes, I…” Your classmate took a deep breath before they looked at you with more determination. “[y/n], we always talk and help each other whenever we're in the same classes. I always admired you from the moment I laid my eyes on you, and that admiration grew into… Love. I'm in love with you, [y/n]. Will you go out with me?”

You blinked at them, and gave them a smile out of pity. “You have been a wonderful friend to me. But I'm sorry, I can't accept your confession. I… I already have a boyfriend.”

Loud gasps could be heard from behind you, but you still ignored them. Your classmate looked at you with their jaw hung open in disbelief. “W-what? With who? For how long!?”

Your face brightened, as if just thinking about him is enough to make your whole day. “It's Natsuki from the weapon department! I mentioned him to you before. Do you remember him?”

After the scene, the words spread throughout the school quickly. You never told him about the event because you thought he doesn't need to know, but Natsuki eventually found out from catching people talking and whispering about it whenever he walked past them. None of the things he heard were good things about him and his relationship with you.

He tried to not let it get to him and play it off. Why should he care about other people's opinions? It's his relationship. Only yours are important. But his insecurity and fear would caught him in the end. Maybe they're right. The other person could protect you better than him. You better off with someone like them instead of him.

You are the first person he ever dated, so he wouldn't know how to confront these feelings. He thought he would inconvenience you, which means he would try to hide them from you. But his jealousy and insecurity would slowly eat him whole from the inside, begging to be vomited out. However, he would still do his best to swallow them back.

He would be less playful and not tease you as much as before. In fact, it would be rare. He'll be distant from you. Natsuki would work himself harder with his weapons and refuse to give himself a break time so he didn't have to think of you and that person who confessed to you on the other day.

You have to confront him yourself and coax him to open up about what was bothering him. He would feel a little more at ease when you hold his hand and rub your thumb on the back of his palm in reassurance, or hug him from behind when he's working. If you pay attention more closely, you could catch him mumbling about the things that troubled him, as if he really wanted to tell you about it but still doubting if it's the right thing to do.

You have to remind him that you still love him for the way he is and be there for him to cheer him up. He would still dwell on the matters that triggered his jealousy and insecurity for the rest of the day, but he would feel better at handling it this time with your words and company.

“What was that? Did you say something?”

He stopped welding on whatever he's worked on and lifted up his shield mask. “The person that you talked with at the rooftop last week... They're one of the top assassins in your department. No one can compete with them and they won awards three times in a row last year. With your skills, you two can sync up well together,” he grabbed a small towel to wipe the sweat off his face. He didn't look at you as he spoke. Instead, he put all his concentration onto his work in front of him. “I saw how they took out their opponents a couple times before. They were reckless. They're too focused on their targets that they didn't pay enough attention to themself. There were times where they almost didn't notice their opponents creeping up behind them, and they just grabbed whatever they could reach and swung it as their weapon without much thought.”

He placed a small object into your hands. It was one of the weapons that was made for you by him but hadn't been used for months. It was upgraded to be more advanced and fancier. He turned around and moved on to his next project, ignoring the confused look you gave him. “Without a proper weapon, they won't be surviving long anymore, even with a good partner who works beside them. That's why assassins need proper weapon makers who understand what's more suitable for them.”

You finally understood what's going on.

You chewed your inner cheek to hold back from giggling. He's totally jealous. While you felt bad that he was feeling down because of you, you couldn't help but think that this behavior of his is kind of cute.

“Yeah, you're right about that,” you put the weapon on the table beside you to wrap your arms around your boyfriend's torso from behind. You could feel him tensed up slightly from the contact. “I'm super lucky that I'm dating the Ace Weapon Maker of JCC, who also happens to be very caring and attentive to me unlike anyone else I ever met. Otherwise, I would already be dead in the ditch by now with nobody to love me. Thanks for everything, Natsu.”

His hands stopped tinkering with the prototype he was working on. He put down the object and remained unmoving for a while, thinking back of the comforting words you said to him. Then you felt his hand on top of yours and squeezed it gently, making you smile. It was his way of showing his gratitude to you.

He peered over his shoulder to look at you and said, “I'm planning to retire soon and open up a crepe shop. Want to be the first person to taste my crepes?”

“Oh, hell yes.”

The "Amy likes spiders" poem in doki doki literature club (Natsuki's second poem) just makes me think of being closeted with internalized homophobia and I think it works really well for her

There's the poem if you haven't seen it!

(This is just me analyzing the poem and it's probably my longest post yet. I've been overanalyzing all the poems but this is the only one I've typed out atm lol)

It specifically makes me think of four things - Yuri liking different things and her disliking her for it, Natsuki being so far in the closet that she'll take any excuse to avoid the pretty girl™, Natsuki's self projection onto "Amy" and most importantly internalized homophobia, like I said earlier

It generally makes me think natsuri but I'll get to that later. So if we go from the internalized homophobia + closeted perspective (more like raised homophobic and doesn't know she's gay but ykwim), it reads as "a girl I know is a lesbian and Im meant to hate her for it. She's pretty and she makes me feel things but I can't be friends with her because she's a lesbian"

'The narrator' (Natsuki) heard a rumor that a girl, "Amy" (the lesbian), apparently likes 'spiders' (girls) and is repulsed. And that's why she isn't friends with her.

"Amy" sings the narrator's favorite love song, her voice is cute and it's making her heart pound. But she still likes 'spiders', so she can't be her friend.

She hurts her leg and "Amy" helped her get to the nurse. She tried to avoid touching her because her hands might be gross due to touching 'spiders', so she still can't be her friend.

"Amy" is very popular, but "she probably talks about spiders" (being gay). "What if her friends start to like spiders too?" (This entire verse rlly speaks for itself)

The next verse is shortest and even more repetitive than the rest of the poem (to emphasize her point) "it doesn't matter if she has other hobbies, it doesn't matter is she keeps it private, it doesn't matter if it doesn't hurt anyone" because to the narrator - she can't be "Amy's" friend, no matter how bad she wants to, because she's always going to be a 'spider lover' (lesbian) and she won't be able to ignore that.

And then the final nail to seal shut the door to the closet - "it's gross, she's gross, the world is better off without spider lovers. And I'm gonna tell everyone" because she needs everyone to know she hates 'spider lovers' to make sure no one knows she is also one. It's so gross because she was taught it was and now she can't stop thinking it's gross, no matter how nice/pretty/kind "Amy" is.

Onto the natsuri part so if you don't like that ship feel free to skip the rest of this (if you're still here lol)

Yuri and Natsuki like such different things (creepy and complex vs cute and simple) and they reach the point where they've argued so much that Natsuki doesn't want to admit she doesn't dislike Yuri. Even if she likes her poems, she'd never tell her because she feels like she can't at this point.

Natsuki couldn't see past their differences for a while, when she finally does, she's too embarrassed to apologize and too uncomfortable to befriend her without apologizing.

Nearly every verse of the poem will talk about how great the girl is. How she has a cute voice, she helped her, she has lots of friends, she makes her heart pound. But every verse she will still come back to "but she likes spiders. That's why I'm not friends with her". It feels like her gradually warming up to Yuri but still reminding herself that she can't be her friend, they're too different, Yuri likes creepy things (Yuri probably does like spiders so that's a bit more literal but it's also that spiders seem to symbolise everything she likes that Natsuki doesn't) and she couldn't be friends with someone so different.

And lastly, Natsuki's self projection (this is what the meaning is said to be in-game), meaning "Amy" is Natsuki herself. Natsuki likes manga and her friends won't believe it counts as literature. Her manga is the spider in this interpretation, she doesn't want people to judge her based on what she likes. She's had to be so defensive about what she likes, she may even judge herself for liking it at this point. She doesn't want people to judge people by their interests.

I keep seeing people say that Amy is a real person but that's one of the only interpretations that makes no sense to me. Because Natsuki may be a bit judgemental but even she wouldn't make an entire poem about disliking her classmate's love of spiders. She said herself that anyone that agrees with the narrator in the poem is a bad person. It's far more likely that "Amy" is a made up idea, she's barely even shown as a person. She's seemingly meant to be symbolic of Natsuki's flaws and insecurities, whatever you perceive those insecurities to be.

Portraying Amy as an actual person kinda cheapens the poem, at least in my opinion, because she was talking about how people should be given a chance no matter what (or who) they like and if Amy was a person it wouldn't make sense

yuri is a very non confrontational person, wether or not she will talk to you about it later i will leave up to you

but its not like she entirely ignores how you get misgendered

but shes so scared to say something wrong, she prefers to comfort you more with hugs, a little like sayori

So there's probably this ship dynamic "small n violent x tall n calm softie (who will rock your shi if small n violent gets hurt) and itnmade me think of a demonslayer!reader and flamepillar!senjuro AU where even tho reader is straight up pint-sized they act tsundereish n tough with a cuter, softer interior (basically natsuki) and then at when look at Senjuro who seems like the sweetest, most patient guy ever until reader gets hurt n that's when he starts seeing red??

(Basically, this version of yan!senjuro can and will kill but mostly if it's demons because humans are very unlikely)

a/n this was a very cute request; I had fun writing this. I hope you enjoy it ♡

-when you two first started dating, a lot of people were surprised to see two total opposites together. they thought of senjuro as the peacemaker, knowing him as a sweet, patient, and kind person, and now someone who could keep you under control. when in fact goes both ways, although getting senjuro to be angry is quite rare, it would only happen when you get hurt. that’s when you need to get him under control from going on a rage against the person/demon who hurt you. 

-this makes going on missions with him a challenge, he unintentionally treats you as if you’re a child that can’t defend themselves. he becomes extra protective of you during these shared missions, always going in front of you, telling you to stay back, covering for you so you don’t get hurt, etc. he just doesn’t want to see another loved one die, especially after what happened to kyojuro. 

-now if you do somehow get hurt on a mission together, he death glares the demon who did it and go all out on them, pulling all stops to decapitate the demon. then, after decapitating the demon, he quickly goes back to you, tending to your injuries and carrying you back to the butterfly mansion. it doesn’t matter if it was a serious injury to the head or a simple scrape on the knee, he is carrying you back.

-about your tsundere-like personality: senjuro would have mixed feelings, since you’re not exactly true to yourself like when you say you don’t like something when it’s pretty obvious you do. he dislikes it, it makes it harder to understand you. but at the same time he loves it when you deny something with a flustered face, he finds it to be really cute, though he would never voice this.

-when you open up to him and show your cuter, softer interior he falls more in love with you and becomes even more protective over you. he becomes clingy to you, staying by your side at all times and shows a slight possessive side. his possessiveness isn’t obvious at first but you could occasionally see him glaring at a guy who talked to you while trying to cover it up with a smile saying it’s nothing. he doesn’t do anything about his jealousy other than gently pulling you closer. although later he might threaten the guy to never talking to you again

-loves the height difference between you two, you being shorter than him makes him feel like he has to protect you despite knowing how tough you can be. and he would sometimes very light heartedly tease you about being shorter than him. as well as gently ruffling your hair with a smile when you pout up at him.

I have an au idea I’m too lazy to write, but I think it would be fun to just throw out there. I can’t think of a name, but yeah.

Basically it’s a mcxSayorixMonika throuple V thing. So MC and Sayori started dating at the start of their high school life and things are pretty good, they both love each other and support each other and help each other grow, but there’s something missing and they don’t know what, neither of them mention it because they believe it could cause unnecessary problems.

Third year rolls around and Sayori joins the literature club, she wasn’t able to convince MC, but he still waits for her to walk back home together. In the club she meets Monika and they very quickly become close friends and begin to crush on one another, but don’t really do anything about it cuz Monika knows Sayori has a BF and Sayori doesn’t want to be disloyal.

Eventually Monika confessed to Sayori after school thanks to a combination of not being able to hold it in any longer and some encouragement from Yuri or Natsuki (they’re obviously dating), she says that’s she sorry and that she still wants to be friends with her and she hopes it doesn’t ruin their friendship, but then Sayori also confesses and says that she wants her to meet her boyfriend.

Sayori and MC walk together to their houses as usual, but then Sayori says that they need to talk and takes him to her room, there she talks about how she fell in love with a girl in her club and how she’s sorry and then asks him if they could be a throuple, then something like this would happen:

“I know it’s greedy,” she says in between sobs “and I’m sorry I’m even asking this of you.”

“Sayori,” MC sighs “I more than probably anyone knows how big your heart is and how lovely you are, frankly I’m surprised and thankful that you don’t have a whole mob waiting to be your partner.” They chuckle slightly “Remember when I said I knew what was best for you?” She nods “Well I was wrong, I don’t, I only want to make you happy Sayori, and I try everything I think would work to do so, so if you think that having this girl as your girlfriend as well as me, I’ll support you. Besides, you deserve way more than a dummy like me.” They laugh “Don’t say that.” Sayori scolds “Thanks MC, I love you.” They smile at each other “I love you too.” MC responds.

The next day Sayori introduces MC to Monika, where they convince Monika to agree and eventually all talk about how they should work this out. But internally MC is like “MONIKA?? THE MONIKA?? One of the most popular and talented girls in school???? I mean i knew Sayori’s charm is unignorable, but DAMN.”

At first Monika doesn’t really like MC, because of multiple things: she subconsciously sees him as an obstacle and undeserving of Sayori’s love; she kinda sees him as a loser, although she won’t tell either Sayori or MC; and she thinks he ignores her, meanwhile he’s just intimidated by her.

Eventually they both open up to each other, nothing romantic comes out of it, but they forge a strong friendship and help each other become better partners for Sayori.

I dunno I think it’s kinda neat and nice. Lemme know what y’all think.

Blue Lock Episode 30 Review - Thieves Vs Policemen

Want to know something crazy? Since there are 14 episodes for this season and this is the 6th episode already, it means that we’re almost halfway through the season! Mind-blowing, isn’t it? We’re finally at the main focus for the season, the U-20 match.

This is mainly a buildup episode. It’s a buildup for showing the nation what sort of program Blue Lock is for potential high school soccer stars and it’s also a test to see if Ego was correct in creating this soccer program for the benefit of Japanese soccer. I liked seeing the little snippets of the daily lives of the players before the big match. Everyone is different so they all prepare in different ways. What amazed me the most was the amount of people who showed up for the big match. It lets me know how much of a big deal soccer is in Japan. Since Blue Lock is still so obscure, nobody really came for them other than their family and mostly came for the U-20 stars. It seems that the most popular are Aiku, Sendou and Sae.

There’s also some spotlight on the U-20 team, mostly on Aiku, though. He’s the captain of the team, but just because Sae is one of the biggest teen soccer stars doesn’t mean he’ll let him do whatever he wants. This means that Shidou is not included in the starting lineup because he wants to win without him and that he believes in his team. When playing, Aiku is actually a very formidable foe because he’s a defender opposed to Blue Lock’s striker. The analogy of cops vs robbers feels very synonymous. Oh, speaking of which, I learned that Oliver is his surname and Aiku is actually his given name. This makes sense since Japan does the eastern naming order, yet it’s confusing because Oliver is mostly used as a first name and not a surname.

The soccer playing is mostly shown towards the end with Rin, Isagi and Nagi taking the lead with the offense. Bachira also gets some shine too. Of the U-20, some players do get some spotlight, like Haru Hayate, but it seems that they’ll be more utilized in the next episode. I honestly can’t wait to see Sae and Rin facing off. I do wonder what caused the beef between them because the brothers’ childhood memories showed that they got along pretty well. What could’ve caused the rift between them?

What’s crazy is that not only do the U-20 got their fair share of known voice actors, but Rin, Sae and Aiku’s child selves all have well-known voice actors too! Since I talked about Aiku and Sendou in the previous episode, let’s talk about Hayate, the one with the blond spiky hair. He’s voiced by Kensho Ono. If you’re not familiar with him, he’s the voice actor for Kuroko from Kuroko’s Basketball. It’s crazy to see him in another big sports anime. For the childhood voice actors, Rin is voiced by Yuka Terasaki, who voices Roy from Pokemon Horizons; Sae is voiced by Yuko Sanpei who you may know as Chizuru Yoshida from Kimi Ni Todoke and Boruto Uzumaki from his namesake show. That’s pretty crazy how much budget they spend on big voice actors. Then, Aiku’s childhood voice actor is Natsumi Fujiwara, who is known for voicing Damian Desmond from Spy x Family. Is the production really spending more on voice actors than on animation? Not only that, the sports commentators also got some big names. The younger man is voiced by Daisuke Sakaguchi and the older one, Natsuki, is voiced by Wataru Takagi. I’m seriously convinced they’re spending their budget on voice actors…

The additional time was seriously cute! I feel like the animal comparison was popular that they brought it back. This time, the YukkiNagi duo compare some of the U-20 players to animals. Why is Sendou the only one with a more human-like appearance compared to the other animals? Also, poor Darai, he got compared to an object. At least Rin knows your pain. Speaking of which, Rin joins in again and compares Sae to a mosquito as Nagi hates them. As Nagi decides to plot against Sae, Yukimiya tells them to stop playing this game. Haha. These three are seriously a combo I never expect would be hilarious together. I’d like this to continue to see which animals other players would be compared to.

I Read the Re: Zero IFs

I’ve got thoughts on each of them. Some of these thoughts are more in-depth than others.

Wrath IF: What is this guys deal even? 

The two other “Evil” Subarus (Pride and Gluttony,) while certainly unhinged, had very clear goals (getting Emilia on the Throne, and patching together [Natsuki Subaru], respectively).  But I can’t even tell what this Subaru wants. And to be honest, I don’t even know if Subaru knows want Subaru wants. 

Also, how exactly Subaru became a crime lord? I don’t doubt that Subaru COULD become a crime lord, but I’m curious as to the step-by step process that got him to this point.

Sloth IF: Rem should have been allowed to girlboss more.

Overall though, a very fun story about Subaru, Rem, and their 2 roommates, the wolf ninja who can clone himself, and half of a great spirit. Compared to all the other IFs, this one feels so disconnected from the main story. I don’t think anyone mentions what’s been happening in Lugunica once during this IF.

This also means that the characters form this IF are still around right?  I know Halibel shows up at some point in the main route. But is main route Zarestia still around? Does she still want to kill people? Or is she stuck separated for her light orb? Also, there’s technically another surviving member of the Oni tribe who may be alive? She was alive at some point, maybe not anymore. 

Pride IF: What a drama nerd. This guy can’t do anything with a given situation except escalate it. Ranting at a man about how much you want to be him, and then wishing him a happy birthday, as the city burns around you, was pretty funny. From a certain perspective.

(I make these jokes because what he’s doing is really sad. I’m pretty sure that Greed Subaru is the only one who has Pride Subaru beat for having died the most. He really threw everything away - including his life - for the sake of one girl who was nice to him)

Lust IF: I’m disappointed in myself for reading this, but not as disappointed as I am that this IF exists in the first place.

 

Greed IF: The Tragedy if the AU is greatly increased by the events of canon. Technically this is applicable to all of the IFs, but a few small changes to canon could have easily made this if one of the “Good” ones.

There is a world where Canon went a little differently, and Main Route Subaru was able to save almost everyone, but not everyone at the end of the Arc 4. And he would have accept that no matter how many times he tries, he can’t save everyone. If that had happened, Greed IF could have been hopeful, in a rather depressing way.  “Oh, Subaru may have destroyed himself mentally, but he got to save everyone!” But that’s not how canon went. Main Route Subaru did save everyone, which in turn invalidates everything Greed IF Subaru believes.

Subaru didn’t need to abuse return by death. He didn’t need to stretch his relationships to the limit to keep people safe. He didn’t need to make a deal with a witch. Subaru didn’t have to do any of this. But he has to tell himself that that he did, otherwise the small amount of mental stability he has left will shatter.

Gluttony IF: I expected Subaru to be much more unhinged.

Obviously his actions are incredibly messed up. Everyone around him knows this, and even Subaru knows this, but believes his actions are an entirely necessary evil. But he never acts “crazy”. In all the interactions through the IF, he acts “normal”. If anything, seems less eccentric than Main Route Subaru. In all of the conversations he as, even if the other people act increasing confused or angry, he alway acts calm and rational, even when he’s talking about things like flooding an entire city.

And that honestly makes him even more unsettling.

Yandere! Romantic! KNY Hashira Scenarios: Rengoku Kyojuro vs Kanroji Mitsuri

This is a interesting situation! Who did you know first? They both are equal in openness and friendliness towards new slayers, so it would be a 50-50% but for this; You came up to Kyojuro yourself because you wanted to master Flame Breathing!

Kyojuro found you unbelievably cute, the very first second he met you! You act like you’re so tough and scary, but all he saw was a pretty fluffy little kitty flaring their claws

Kyojuro got close to you long before Mitsuri came into play. The only reason you met Mitsuri is because the Flame Hashira requested you train your flexibility with the all-so-talented Love Hashira!

Mitsuri was his pupil back in the day. So it seem fit for his pupils and dear friends to work together. He simply thrived on how happy you were as you ate and chatted with Mitsuri

Mitsuri fell for you under the same thought process as Kyojuro, she loved all your cute accessories and adored the way you acted all so fearless and hardened, yet, you were so short and tiny. She felt like she was watching a pretty bumbleebee call her a ‘Baka’

You’re interesting for your hard-hearted tsundere personality but contrasting colourful looks. So cute, that it makes their hearts blow over in love each time. It was like you shot arrows of love by just existing

Their love grew and grew until they both wore your name on their hearts. Everything had you in mind, both were so eager to see you each day. You spent the day with Kyojuro training and night with Mitsuri for her sleepovers. This single routine is responsible for making everything fall apart

The Yandere effect didn’t take a proper hold on the two until they both realised their feelings for you and that they had matching views. The more they spend time with you, either seperate or together, the strong innocent love grows until a equally strong unhealthy obsession

In-fact, two obsessions: first is over you, second is over getting the other out of the picture for good! I mean it that, they attack each other willingly, maybe no physically, but they’ll try chase the other away to win you over with no threat

Mitsuri and Kyojuro have quite the number of matching Yandere traits, being Overprotective, Possessive and Delusional. They both don’t want to kill anybody, they prefer blackmailing/intimidation/threatening and they spoil you rotten. Mitsuri treats you like you’re made of glass and Kyojuro acts like you absolutely adore him as much as he adores you

Kyojuro is very passive-aggressive and Mitsuri fakes her past personality. Their love-centred obsessions rot away all their likability, making them mindless drones determined to “win” you over to feed their fantasies

Kyojuro refuses to recognise your newfound hostility towards his scary behaviour and laughs it off but Mitsuri cries hysterically at how you yell at her to get away and begs you forgive her for whatever she did wrong

Neither care if they must fight each other or all the other Hashira. You’re happiness and love is the most important thing for them, tell them to go away. They’ll stalk you from far away until you want them back

“Dokusha, love. It’s starting to rain, hug me and I’ll use my haori to shield you from the cold! I’ll keep you warm”

“Wait! Hey, I’m warmer, Doki-honey! Come to me! I have lots of layers to protect you from the rain!”

Kyojuro is scary, Mitsuri is needy. Which one scares you more is up to you. Though, they both are equally clingy and desperate to have you live in their Estate

They both learn about your abusive father at one point and legit hunt him down. They can’t stand the fact somebody dares to lay their hands on you. You’ll end up going home to no father but a note about his “s***de”

The two surround you all the time. In public, they grab your hands and try their best to embrace you but end up passive-aggressively fighting over you. Even if you try to run away, they’ll follow you through and beyond Japan with no failure

Mitsuri half-beat Obanai for trying to threaten you

The protective levels are over the extreme. Both Kyojuro and Mitsuri will defend you from literally everybody, human or demon. Especially from each other and your fellow Hashira. You’ll lose your ability to socialise in no time

Kyojuro likes brushing your hair with you cuddled in his lap, smiling in a creepily excited way. All until Mitsuri breaks through and yanks you off him, fixing up your pretty colourful kimono as the two begin shooting death stares at each other

No matter how much you try to shoo them off with cruel words or angry growls, they’ll come running back to you with pleasure. To express their love and convince you to pick them over the other. Kyojuro will prevent you form leaving the spot as his Tsuguko and Mitsuri will try bribe you into become her Tsuguko

“Rengoku-san is nice but he doesn’t really know what limits are! How about you be my Tsuguko instead of his? You like my training and I understand you a lot more! We can have so much fun, wouldn’t you like that?”

“Leave… me? That’s such a ridiculous idea, Dokusha! You love me, why would you want her? She’s emotional and whiny, I’m mature and I give the warmest hugs! You’ll obviously pick me!”

Mitsuri is bratty, she’ll do shady things to make you dislike Kyojuro. Act like the victim after making Kyojuro snap so you’ll sympathise with her. But Kyojuro can see right through his former student and attempts to manipulate you into thinking Mitsuri is wrong

They both are wrong, neither are clean in this situation but so twisted up in their love fantasies of you. Their cute, little angel with a equally cute and flashy breathing style. No matter what must happen, they’ll work and work to win you

Kyojuro is a bit sadistic, he’ll get somewhat aggressive in his controlling scolds and that can scare you. This is where Mitsuri comes in and tries her best to scare away her ex-dear friend from hurting her love

You and your entire being is their new mission. Nothing else matters anymore, they’ll fight over you with such sickeningly sweet smiles, you’re certain they are both insane. Truly, they are insane and they won’t let you go

Not kidding, they both ask you to marry them and send a whole load of letters, gifts and flowers. Just waiting for you to choose one, but you don’t want. You don’t even like them as friends anymore, they frighten you so much that you want to puke

Who you want is up to you in the end! Though, it comes with lots of risks, including the left-behind rampant who’ll try kill the one you chose! The burning fire or the beating heart, take your pick of spouse:

“Look. Dokusha! I have brought you all of your favourite foods! You told me you don’t really have food at your home, so I got you everything! Would you like to sit down and enjoy it with me?”

Cat Doki! (Pt 3)

She's a lynx point Siamese × Himalayan, her default is Himalayan, but get her comfy she turns into a Siamese lmao. She was the first one I made, and her warrior name basically came by me automatically especially after learning her name's etymology, and it's LilyPool!!

I also forgot to put extra descriptions of what fur markings they specifically have, Sayori is an agouti/ticked tabby, Natsuki is a spotted tabby!

A reserved decipherer from ThunderClan. It's one of the rarest clan roles since a healer is usually capable of deciphering prophecies on their own, but not every healer can decipher their prophecies quickly–honestly most of them takes some time, but once LilyPool got given this responsibility, Thunderclan gets an up to date prophecy very quickly and they're able to maintain their clan quite well.

It's well known how timid she is, especially in clan gatherings where she stays somewhere, nervously shuffling her paws. She's often found observing many things be it a small animal or her surroundings, like her head is up there in the clouds. It must be this quite times she has that made her the smartest cat of the clan.

They'd say she has the wisdom and knowledge of an Elder–won't be helped that she spends time with them often, even if she doesn't have any duty in the Elders den–they'd come to her if an Elder wasn't being to helpful about something, then she chatters away. For quite a long period of time, until she catches herself then apologizes for talking too much.

LilyPool is considered the prettiest cat in all of Thunderclan for her elegant demeanor and silky long fur, and is also known to have the sharpest and most beautiful pearly claws. She always takes the time to clean them, she never fought and would resort to gently talking her way out of tension, and she doesn't hunt that often either–as she stays most of her time in the Healers den, so her claws would sparkle as she stretches then they catch the light of the sun or moon. They're quite long too to the point they stick out of her paws even if sheathed. She uses these sturdy claws to carve pictures from prophecies on trees and wood barks, or some other poetic things that some of her clanmates stop to admire every once in a while.

However, because of these claws, many outsiders who crosses paths with her by chance would bristle–how much would those claws hurt? Definitely 10 times the normal amount. So they'd turn away immediately, though in reality LilyPool was more afraid of them and she does feel bad very often, especially when this underweight looking kit carrying so many plants on her sprinted away, dropping some of it. She tried to tell her about it but that kit was scary fast. There was one outsider that wasn't afraid of her claws, showing off that she has as equally well cared claws on her too–and this she-cat was very clean and smelled a little strange. But she didn't stay long to chat and said she needed to go back to her... "House folks"? Before they get worried.

And what of my adaptational bitterness?!

Not long ago, I decided to look at some of my favorite FE15 scenes with Japanese voice acting, given how fantastic the English dub is-- and something I picked up in the process is that the scene between Alm and Mycen in Rigel Castle has a couple of interesting changes that I wanted to lay out! Particularly with its most... iconic lines. Major spoilers ahead!

(Note: I'm not a native Japanese speaker, and I'm not entirely fluent, but I took two years of college classes and damn if I'm not putting that all to use here!!)

While I put together a document going through the whole conversation in Japanese and loosely translating it, most of it is generally the same, aside from two bits. You're also not going to get the whole picture just by reading the lines, as the voice acting does a great deal for both sides of this conversation, so I highly recommend you pull up the scene in video form as well.

Now, the first change is pretty brief! Specifically, when Mycen brings up Alm's birth during his whole spiel about how the gods are deteriorating.

Mycen: しかし、そこにアルム。お前が生まれた。(Shikashi, soko ni Arumu. Omae ga umareta.) But then there's you, Alm. You were born. But then you were born, Alm.

Alm: ！！ (*gasp*) ...! What does that have to do with any of this?

The second, more important one, is Alm's reaction to being Rudolf's mercy, and how Mycen responds to that. The exchange goes like this:

Mycen: それが愛するわが子であればこれ以上の喜びはない…… (Sore ga aisuru waga ko de areba koreijou no yorokobi wa nai…) So for it to be his beloved child, he could feel no greater joy… So for that death to come at the hand of his beloved son was… a mercy.

Mycen: ルドルフは、そう言っておった。(Rudorufu wa, sou itte otta.) Rudolf told me so himself. He told me himself that he could imagine no more peaceful end.

Alm: そんな…… 父さん、父さんっ……！！(Sonna… Tou-san, Tou-san…!!) That's... Father, father...!! And what of my peace?!

"Sonna..." on its own is a pain to translate, but the specific meaning isn't as relevant as how Natsuki Hanae says this line. Rather than reacting with even more bitterness because Rudolf's convoluted plan made no room for Alm's own say on the matter - him yelling at Mycen earlier for sending him to kill his own father is about the same already - JP Alm just... breaks down and cries for his father, essentially. And it's this difference in reaction that makes Mycen respond in turn!

Mycen: 泣くな、アルムよ。(Naku na, Arumu yo.) Don't cry, Alm. This is not the time for mourning or self-pity, boy.

Compared to something like "nakanaide" (please don't cry), "naku na" is more direct in just. You know. Telling someone not to cry instead of asking them. So perhaps there's a weight behind those words that I'm missing, but with his quieter and more even tone of voice, and the way he addresses Alm by name, it comes off as a lot gentler than how he scolds Alm in the localization.

Now, why were these changes made? Are they better or worse? I don't know! Sure, I'd like Mycen not to be kind of a dick to his grandson while he's feeling so vulnerable, but I can tolerate it because that's how I first experienced the scene, and their supports say a great deal more about how they feel about each other than a scene where they're both freshly grieving. More than that, though, I think Alm breaking down and sobbing and Alm sticking it to the man both get to something very important about his position here, something that Natsuki Hanae and Kyle McCarley also portray amazingly:

Natsuki continued slowly down the sidewalk, passing shrubs and fenced houses. She slowly made her way toward the door in the very middle of the rows of homes but this was no home, it was merely a house...

"Story Telling"- A Natsuri fanfic

Chapter 2 - "House."

Warning for: parental abuse, transphobia

Natsuki entered the house and was greeted by dirty dishes and flies buzzing, it was a disgusting sight but it wasn't her problem unless she wanted to bake and tonight, she had plans. She snuffed the dirt and grime that littered the house and made her way up the stairs, closing her door and locking it behind her.

The pink curtains and overwhelmingly pastel colouring all around had been there since she was young, though she was pressured to grow up and move on, she never once caved to those demands. She knew who she was and she'd be damned if she ever listened to anyone's bullcrap.

Moving on, she began changing into causal clothing, a nice pink tank top and white shorts which she grabbed from her closet were folded in her hands when her eyes suddenly landed on the mirror and her body was filled with several bruises and cuts from the abuse she'd suffered since age 10. Angered at her own weakness, she put the clothes on and fell back on her bed.

She suddenly sprung up and dashed for her bag, grabbing the book Yuri had given her for the night. On one hand, she didn't want Yuri to gain any upper hand upon seeing Natsuki take interest in her stupid, convoluted, over complicated, pompous literature but on the other hand....Natsuki was really enjoying the book. Shocked and disgusted by her own excitement to read something she deemed so dumb, she swallowed her pride and began to read.

And read she did, for hours and hours on end; with every little word she was immersed deeper and she found herself thinking of Yuri in a more positive light. She giggled at the different sticky notes with jokes about each character, notes about the lore and notes describing everything behind the scenes all written by Sayori. She planned on making it through the entire book in one night she was so immersed.

"Finally outgrew your manga?" Natsuki snapped her attention to her father in the door but she'd locked her door, hadn't she? "No," she began to defend herself, "This was given to me from a friend." She sat up, closing the book up and holding it to her chest. Her father looked her up and down, "You know, you don't have to do that fake high pitch voice." Natsuki looked away, anger on her face. "Could you get out now?" She asked through gritted teeth.

"I can't tell my co-workers about you if you keep dressing and acting like this."

"You wouldn't tell them about me anyway."

"I would if you stopped pretend to be a girl."

"You don't like anything about me, don't use that against me!"

Natsuki stands and points to him angrily as they yell, "Against you?! I'm the one supporting you! I'm the one letting you do this to yourself!" Natsuki's eyebrows immediately furrow at that statement. "Support?!" Natsuki scoffs, "You sit there on your ass all day, you don't talk to me unless you're yelling, you haven't hugged me in years! The most you do is hit me!" Her father grabs her arm and yanks her.

"Talk to me like that again, I fucking dare you." She pulls away her arm and he smacks her across the face. She backed into the corner, "You never could fight me like a man anyway, maybe it's better you keep pretending." Natsuki feels at her swelling cheek to suppress the aching and her anger only grows as he walks away.

After a few moments, Natsuki stands and wanders to her mirror, she stares at herself; she knew who she was, she couldn't change that. This was her, the real her and that bastard could never change that. Brows furrowed, she punches the mirror and her knuckles start to bleed.

"Shit," Natsuki mumbles, wrapping her knuckles in bandages and then returning to her room and grabbing the book Yuri lent her. "At least he didn't rip this one up like my manga." Natsuki sighs and goes back to her door and closes it, seeing that the lock was picked before closing it.

Natsuki opens the book and finds her page again, sighing contently as she began to read once more...

Okay, everyone! In this post, we’ll be analyzing Natsuki’s poetry in Doki Doki Literature Club! because she’s gay and i can prove it dammit

Well only be going over the poems that have a profound affect on reading her character, namely “Amy Likes Spiders” and “I’ll Be Your Beach”, and maybe touching on “The Best Place in the World” if I feel like it by the end of the post.

｢Amy Likes Spiders｣

Let’s talk spiders… er, poetry! So to summarize, we are introduced to a hypothetical character named Amy, who likes spiders. We are shown that she is a normal person with a normal life, except the narrator of the poem refuses to be friends with her because she likes spiders. Simple, right? Spiders are gross!

Well, not that simple. The climax of the piece is a stanza towards the end that reads: “It doesn’t matter if she has other hobbies. It doesn’t matter if she keeps it private. It doesn’t matter if it doesn’t hurt anyone.”

Oof, yikes, kinda harsh, don’t you think? It keeps going.

“It’s gross. She’s gross. The world is better off without spider lovers.

And I’m gonna tell everyone.”

Woahhh okay, took a bit of an intense turn from enjoying arachnids, huh?

This should be the first clue that the true meaning of the poem isn’t surface-level. Lines that seem intensely out of place or out of character are most likely intended to point you to a deeper content, such as I believe is happening here.

The entire poem, Natsuki has shown us in detail Amy, her life, and how this narrator treats her in response to her “liking spiders”. The narrator refuses to enjoy Amy’s singing, won’t let Amy touch her to help her when she’s hurt, and even fears that Amy might cause her friends to start liking spiders too.

So, what’s going on here? Why such a strong reaction to Amy’s interests? Well, this becomes more clear when reading with a queer lens.

Go through the entire poem (or at least the key parts) and replace “spiders” with “girls”. You get such lines as: “I tried not to let her touch me. She likes girls, so her hands are probably gross.”

“I always see her talking to people. She probably talks about girls. What if her friends start to like girls too?”

“It’s gross. She’s gross. The world is better off without girl lovers.”

Reads totally different, right? But it also makes a little more sense, doesn’t it?

In this context, Amy is a lesbian. Someone (the narrator) found out, and is being entirely homophobic about it, even if it doesn’t affect them at all. This makes the end of the poem more ominous and borderline horrifying.

“The world is better off without spider lovers.

And I’m gonna tell everyone.”

This can also be used to support a trans reading of Natsuki, as all of these same things can be applied to being transgender (though maybe in a more distantly metaphorical way than the easy spiders/girls swap).

Stylistically, it’s a very simple rhythm, no rhyme, with the repeating line “That’s why I’m not friends with her.” This simple repetition of pattern and phrase makes the changeup with “It doesn’t matter if…” all the more prominent, because it breaks that pattern.

｢I’ll Be Your Beach｣

Ahh the beach. Not my vacation of choice, but many find it refreshing, rejuvenating, and relaxing. That’s certainly what Natsuki seemed to have in mind for her poem she wrote from the one word prompt “beach”.

This piece is longer, though still keeps Natsuki’s tried-and-true simple format, four-line stanzas, and repetition not too dissimilar to common music patterns. The scene is of two people walking along a beach, basking in the warm sunlight, and letting the seawater wash their worries away. Natsuki can even be seen fantasizing about a kiss between these two~!

Though I don’t believe Natsuki to be the first person narrator of “Amy Likes Spiders”, I do think she is the narrator of this poem, as she then assumes the role of one of the two on the beach. Which means Natsuki is actually writing about her kissing this person! How intriguing~

Now, we are lead to believe in DDLC that the romantic poems written by Yuri and Natsuki are directed at the MC. However, that would be an odd assumption for this poem, given some of the things Natsuki mentions…

“Your mind is so full of troubles and fears” “The walls in your mind will melt away” “Let’s bury your heavy thoughts in the sand” “Wash your insecurities in the salty sea” “You’ll learn to love yourself again.”

By show of hands, how many of you lovely readers thought about MC when you read those lines? I hope none of you, because he doesn’t express these sentiments at all, let alone to Natsuki.

But how many of you maybe thought about Yuri? Or even Sayori? Ahh, a different story.

Natsuki is clearly imagining a time where she can comfort this person and remind them of “the reasons [they’re] wonderful” and even kiss them. This person clearly means a lot to Natsuki, and seeing them happier is obviously a goal. Now who does Natsuki say this is about explicitly…

Oh, of course, Yuri.

In Act 2, Natsuki gives MC a note that mentions she always wanted to be better friends with Yuri, and is concerned for her wellbeing (as we all were in Act 2). This seems to be a similar theme to the therapeutic scene in “I’ll Be Your Beach”, not to mention that the “beach” prompt was an assignment with Yuri! They were supposed to write from the same prompt, and Natsuki wrote this while Yuri wrote her poem, “Beach”. Wouldn’t it make sense that Natsuki might write some of these feelings she has for/about Yuri in a poem that was surely going to be read to her?

In conclusion, Natsuki’s simplistic style is excellent at throwing in emotional and/or sudden endings that really provoke thought about the poem itself, and its deeper meaning. This also allows for some thicker metaphors, since everything is encouraged to be taken at face value. I hope my breakdowns here have shown you just a little bit of a queer reading of Natsuki’s character through poetry! (Not to mention everything she does and says!)

QN and Starish hcs of teaching their s/o to play their instrument???? (Ily ur acc btw ♡)

Otoya 

Otoya would be thrilled when you ask him to teach you! He loves sharing his hobbies with you, and this way he gets to combine two of his favorite things. 

He’s a fan of hands-on teaching, so expect him to reach over a lot and adjust your fingers to the proper positions on the frets. He’ll cover your hands with his own, and sometimes he’ll even tell you to put your hands on his so you can get used to the feel of each chord. 

Otoya asks you some of your favorite songs and teaches you the chords. He’ll always demonstrate how it should sound first and then give you a turn. He’s great at demonstrating tricky chord progressions, and he’ll slow things down as much as you need while you work them out. 

He’s a great teacher and you never feel self-conscious or embarrassed playing in front of him. Expect to hear lots of encouragement and kind words each time you practice. 

Masato 

At first he’s surprised when you ask him for piano lessons, but as soon as you both have a free moment, he gets started teaching you right away. 

He’s also a little stiff at first, and most of the time he’s just telling you what to do and forgets to explain what some of the dynamics mean. You’re not used to seeing musical notation like he is. Masato will suggest that you learn a mnemonic to help you learn the notes in each clef. 

After a while, though, he eases up and gets more comfortable with his teacher role. He takes the time to teach you the difference between piano and pianissimo and explains what exactly a damper pedal does. 

In fact, he gets so comfortable that he’ll sit on the piano bench right next to you, leaving almost no room in between. You don’t point it out at first, because you’re sure he’d get flustered when he realizes how close you are. 

Natsuki 

When you first ask Natsuki to teach you how to play the viola, he reacts much differently than you expected. You thought he’d go on about how cute it would be to play a duet together, but he ended up taking it very seriously! 

He’s as good of a teacher as he is a player. He’s the sentimental type, so he’s held on to his old lesson books and he’s more than happy to dig them out for you. He even makes up lyrics to go along with the exercises so he can sing with you while you practice. 

Natsuki gives you excellent feedback, and even when he gives you a critique it never sounds harsh. He encourages you to find sheet music of songs that you like, and he’ll help you dumb them down to your current skill level. 

Once you’ve been practicing for a while, Natsuki surprises you by taking you to a shop where he’ll buy you a viola of your very own. He’s seen how hard you’ve worked, and he wanted to do something extra special to reward you. 

Tokiya 

Tokiya is extremely clinical at first. It’s nerve-wracking to ask him, but he clears out a spot in his schedule to make sure that he has time to be there for you. 

He spends a lot of time helping you figure out what your ideal range is, and he’ll write up some vocal exercises for you to practice. And he makes sure that you practice every. Single. Day. You do hear a bit of praise from him every now and again, and it’s kind of cute how sincere he can be with his compliments. But more often than not he’ll explain what you need to improve. 

He’ll have a change of heart about the whole thing eventually. When you’re not really excelling like he expects, he remembers his own struggles and what he needed to do in order to get better. Being perfect isn’t what singing is all about. So he’ll apologize for pushing you a little too hard, and he’ll rethink his entire teaching strategy. 

He knows your favorite artists and bands, so he’ll suggest you practice singing some of your favorite songs. Tokiya loves musicals too, and he’ll sing any part to any song that you want to work on. That’s a pretty fun way to practice! But in true Tokiya fashion, he won’t hesitate to stop and point out if you’re doing something particularly wrong. 

Ren 

He’ll probably ask where your sudden interest in the saxophone comes from, but regardless of your answer he’ll be happy to show you the ropes. 

Ren’s not a teacher in the traditional sense. He makes sure you know the proper fingerings for each note (and gets a little handsy in the process), but after that you hit the ground running pretty quick. 

Instead of practicing scales out of lesson books, Ren encourages you to just play what feels right and figures things out from there. Sure, you could waste time practicing the fundamentals, but true music is a feeling from within. That’s what he tells you, anyway. 

You’ll end up listening to a lot of jazz legends to practice as well. Your improv leaves a lot to be desired in the beginning, but Ren is the kind of teacher who has a lot of praise to give, even if it’s not always about the music itself. Over time, you’ll develop a style of your own. You do have to pester him a bit to teach you how to properly read sheet music eventually. 

Syo 

Syo always gets a little flustered when you express interest in his hobbies. Asking him for help while you learn the violin is no exception. He tries to play it cool, but when you tell him that you want to learn from the best, he gets flustered all over again. 

Syo’s not exactly the best teacher, but he tries his best. He trips over his words a bit, especially when he starts rattling off terms that you’ve never heard of before. It’s easy to forget that you haven’t been studying music nearly as long as he has. 

He has the habit of stopping you when you mess up and grabbing the bow from your hands. He likes to show you what to do rather than explaining. 

He’s your biggest hype man too! Every time you master a particularly hard part of a song, he’ll cheer you on and let you know how proud he is. Even when you’re struggling, he’s right there to assure you that you’ll get it right next time. 

Cecil 

Cecil is willing to teach you, but he warns you in advance that learning how to play the flute can be more difficult than some other instruments. 

That doesn’t deter you though. Before you even touch a flute, Cecil has you practicing how to move your lips in front of a mirror. It’s a lot trickier than you anticipated, but you’re not one to give up easily. He tries to be serious most of the time, but he’ll tease you when you make a particularly cute expression. 

Once he’s sure you’re ready, Cecil lets you borrow his own flute. He’s able to be normal about it, but you can’t help but realize it’s like an indirect kiss each time you pass the instrument back and forth. He does notice that your face is a little pinker than usual, though. 

Cecil is enamored by your playing right off the bat. Even if you don’t think it’s great, he’s quick to dismiss that kind of talk and praises you each chance he can. He’ll tell you that you’re a natural, and even though your playing is beautiful now, it’ll only get better from now on.
