Something I’ve picked up on as my Spider-Man special interest has waxed and waned over the five(????) years I’ve had this blog while also slowly developing a batman special interest that has also waxed and waned over time is that Batman as a franchise is way more open to making stories that explore and develop its rogues gallery as people than Spider-Man is. Like, obviously there’s outliers like the Osborns, Otto, and Venom, but I’ve never seen a spideyvillain equivalent to something like this

OH! I didn't think of that(the fact that Domains have aim bots on). But I would think that is more due to the fact that a domain is a user pulling another target into "their" realm of reality then anything else. I was just thinking and cause you kept using (open and close) (beginning and end) when she is seeing the lines, that since a technique starts it would eventually have to end right? Since she sees the ending of things not death(right?)

So, more on my thoughts regarding Domains:

The definition for a Domain Expansion is something along the lines of: "An advanced barrier technique that manifests a user's Innate Domain in a separate space." A Domain Expansion has three main effects: Amplifying a sorcerer's technique, ensuring that the technique will always hit the target, and trapping the target within the barrier.

We also see the trade-offs: In exchange for increased power and effectiveness of the sorcerer's technique during the Domain Expansion, cursed techniques will "destabilize" and be harder to use in the aftermath, after the Domain Expansion ends. In exchange for trapping a target and making the Domain Expansion hard to escape, it's actually fairly easy to enter from the outside -because there's no merit in doing so.

So what about the aim bots guaranteed-hit function?

(Getting a little long, so more below the cut:)

The way I see it, the guaranteed-hit is more due to the inherent rules of a Domain Expansion, rather than the result of immersion in a sorcerer's Innate Domain, as you suggested. My reasoning is as follows:

Consider Fushiguro's Chimera Shadow Garden: During his fight with Reggie, it's stated plainly that his Domain had no guaranteed-hit function. This is because he converted the space of the gymnasium he was fighting in into his Domain, instead of making a proper barrier. But if guaranteed hits are just the result of targets being trapped inside manifestations of Innate Domains, then Fushiguro's Domain should've had that guaranteed hit function regardless of a barrier or not, since Reggie was inside his Domain.

We can also take a look at Simple Domains and the like, which are said to cancel a Domain Expansion's guaranteed hit function by neutralizing the barrier of a Domain Expansion. (c171)

So, I think it makes sense to assume that the guaranteed hit function of a Domain Expansion is actually because of the sorcerer's barrier, not because of the sorcerer's innate technique/being inside a manifestation of their Innate Domain.

... Where was I going with this again?

Ah, yes. Domain Expansions. The three main aspects of a standard lethal Domain Expansion -Increased technique strength/effectiveness, guaranteed hit, and trapping a target- are in place precisely because the technique is deployed as a Domain Expansion. So in my mind, to be trapped inside a Domain Expansion would mean being subjected to all three of the above automatically due to how the technique works, no matter who you are. Even Gojo Satoru.

(... Although Gojo Satoru could just lay out his own Domain like he did during his fight with Jogo haha.)

So, back to Shiki! I'm really happy you've noted the descriptors used for how Shiki sees her lines, because Shiki's ability is indeed a little more complex than just "killing things."

Shiki being trapped in a Domain would be fun to write about someday, that's for sure.

Again, I am not yet entirely committed to how I will be approaching Domain Expansions with Shiki, but I do have a few thoughts on this topic.

has anyone gotten the idea that odysseus' storyline in hades 2 is a depiction/exploration of trauma over his SA and how he's blaming himself for things that were out of his control? because that's the impression i'm getting from what i've seen. he talks about "goddesses" as his "greatest weakness" and that "he's not one to say no to them"...

when mel invites him to the bath, he brings up mortals having different standards for intimacy than gods and how it usually has a more romantic/sexual connotation. she then asks if he's uncomfortable and he has a startled reaction and brings up circe and calypso again (but never actually by name)

(this isn't ship/romance bait btw. odysseus knew mel as a kid and they're stated in-game to have a sibling/uncle-niece relationship)

also he grew apart from penelope after his return, but the game makes a point of showing that his love for penelope and telemachus is what drove him on at all so that element of his character isn't brought into question

You know what? You know what I think?

I think that if we lived as we were meant to, in larger intimate ("extended family") groups and with more shared labor and time to do it (UBI NOW) people like me would not feel so useless and burdensome because there would be people around to help and to do what neurodivergent people can't while making valuable space for the neurodivergent to do what they ARE good at.

The way we live right now, all right, the way we live right now forces units of two adults to be able to do EVERYTHING or PAY to have someone come do it for them. I have to do the housework. I have to do it! But I am having to do a million different things and most of them I am not good at. I suck at them.

I wouldn't feel like shit, okay, if I had more than one other person around who was not a child and who could do the things I can't, like do the yard and cook and do repairs and basic maintenance; and someone else to split everything else that I like but is too much for me. It would free me to do what I am good at and enjoy. Cleaning, as in the sink and toilet, the windows, the blinds. Taking out trash. Folding, hanging, and sorting laundry.

But because all the shit I can do often relies on other shit being done first, and I can't do or have trouble doing those things, the shit I can do often can't be done. And even the shit I can do, I can't do ALL of it. So I can't keep up, and things get very bad.

We aren't meant to live like this. We are not meant to live like this.

That thought hurts so much because being able to flee the birth family is integral to survival for so many people. I'm so afraid that living in larger family groups would create more opportunities for, say, queer kids to be isolated, rejected, bullied, and abused. But if we gave people enough money to survive, and stopped considering children the property of their parents with no system in place to help them escape bad situations except a system that is often just as bad, just different.

I'm aware that communes and collectives aren't all that successful and are kind of a joke. I don't mean that. I mean a fundamental shift to multigenerational families where taking in "strays" (which my family did) is also normalized so people escaping abuse into existing households was accepted, with these families centered in maybe a couple of different larger residences so not everyone has to buy and maintain their own fucking washing machine and vacuum cleaner, and so people can benefit from large group meals that yield leftovers, and so child and elder care can also be centralized.

Then disabled people and the neurodivergent and sick and injured people, and pregnant people, and grieving people, would not have to either labor through all those stressors or consign themselves to living off an unlivable pittance or being put under legal guardianship.

I'm not saying anything new. People live like this in other parts of the world and maybe it sucks and I am wrong. But I'm just really mad right now because I can either do laundry or clean the sink but not both, and I really think we could improve society somewhat by making it so I did not have to choose one without sacrificing the other.

my hypothesis is that people who choose to go on hormones/have surgery will have more sexual pleasure on hormones/after surgery because they are having an experience that better aligns with their gender. and please don't feel like you need to separate out the physical experience from the emotional--both physical and emotional pleasure are relevant to whether or not an orgasm is good.

Post-invasion, Mikey sneaks into Leo’s room and when asked by Leo what the problem was, Mikey just smiles and says since he’s awake and knew Leo would be too, he didn’t want either of them alone. Leo laughs and lets Mikey stick around, both of them clumped together on Leo’s bed, watching grainy compilations of old Lou Jitsu commercials on Leo’s phone.

Technically, Mikey didn’t lie. He just didn’t explain everything that led him to Leo’s room. He didn’t explain the nightmare of his arms burning up too bright, too fast, destroyed before Raph and Donnie have a chance to help. He didn’t explain how he woke up with a wail caught in his throat, phantom pain in his arms and chest alike chasing away any semblance of exhaustion. He didn’t explain how his mind made sure he knew, vividly, that if one thing went wrong with his portal, then he would have never seen Leo again.

He didn’t explain, and he didn’t have to. Leo knows his brothers better than he knows himself, and Mikey has always been easy to read. So it’s no trouble to let Mikey know that he’s still with them, that Leo is here and alive with everyone else. And when Mikey finally regains his exhaustion and falls asleep leaning against Leo, Leo simply maneuvers him into a more comfortable position and stays by his side.

He doesn’t move, doesn’t go to sleep - not that he could, anyway. He just mindlessly scrolls on his phone, the soft snores of his little brother filling the room. He stays in place, awake, because he wants to be sure that when Mikey wakes up again it’s to the immediate sight that Leo is alive and well and home.

And, if Leo’s bring honest, that’s a reminder not just for Mikey’s sake.

It feels like you're being kind of self infantilizing when you draw yourself all small and cute and then talk about how you don't kiss your partner with tongue. I don't know. It just feels weird and almosy creepy. We're not children. Why do we have to act like such children when it comes to intimacy and how we represent ourselves?

Well, that definitely isn't the goal. I always draw all of my characters on the small side, and it's kinda accidental but I ended up drawing myself short because my partner is on the short side, and it just turned out to be a body type that I associate with nice things, so it just... Happened when I was looking for a character to draw myself as. Didn't even hit me it was out of me liking how my partner looks and that I basically "stole" their looks til like... Months later somehow. I'm lucky it doesn't upset them 🙈

Also uh... Sorry I don't wanna stick my tongue in someone's mouth and that it took me a while to be comfortable with kissing on the mouth at all? ...Nah, wait, actually I'm not sorry, that's just who I am and that's my experience, just like other aces are down to tongue-kiss. Everyone has different experiences and everyone's deserves to be seen and heard for what it is, not what it should represent. And each of them are valid, needless to say.

Lastly, I'm pretty freaking open when it comes to me being over 30. I have "very old" in my bio because it feels like that's how that age range is perceived online, and I've drawn several comics about how I don't like to be infantilized, and how it's important that I'm open about my age because it shows orientation isn't a "phase". So... Yeah. Obviously. We're not children. But I of all people don't need to be told that, thanks.

everytime i think about hotch's dynamic with garcia i lose my mind. familial, platonic, romantic, however you view it (although the last of those is very underrated) it's so different and i think it's the best evidence of who hotch is internally, and that most of what he shows in the rest of the show is a mask.

hotch is far gentler with penelope than he is with the rest of the team, partially because she's the furthest removed from the rest of the team and he has the ability to treat her more gently, but also because he can relax around her. i don't even think hotch actively tries to treat garcia so gently, i think he just lets his guard down around her and the rest comes naturally. and also she's his favourite. i will accept no argument /hj
