I can't lie, I find it very odd that posts cautioning people against donating to individual* campaigns and promoting the idea of supporting mutual aid efforts and community kitchens in Gaza can rack up 10k+ notes--while a post promoting a community kitchen (that I can personally vouch for) struggles to get 1k notes, and has barely pulled in a couple hundred dollars over the past week.

I actively try to avoid using guilting tactics in fundraising, but this is weird to me. It's like people are using these posts as an excuse not to do things they already didn't want to do anyway, rather than actually taking their recommendations on board...

*In my experience, these campaigns often support large extended families + their neighbours

*for poll purposes I would consider a city/town/village/etc to be one 'place', so moving to another city or village counts as living elsewhere but moving to different building in the same city or village wouldn't. living unhoused would also count as one 'place' if you were still in the same city, even if you were moving around that city, couch-surfing, got displaced, etc

**living somewhere vs visiting is sometimes blurry but I'd still consider it 'living' there if you were there for a temporary job or school, or had or looked for a lease, or went there planning to stay indefinitely, etc. bald option for bald nuance

i drunkenly scheduled a friendly brawl with an acquaintance of mine and we both completely forgot about it. that is until we were sitting next to each other in class and both of us get google calendar alert that reads VIOLENCE AGAINST LEW i about lost my fucking mind. what do you mean violence against me.

and then i fucking remembered i completely shitfaced told him to send me an invite to the brawl and even more that i insisted to type something into the notes of the meeting to make it look "less worse" and he opens the invite and it just says PREMEDITATED. most sinister calendar event ever created i laughed so hard i cried
