I've been re-reading @anbu-legacy and decided to do some doodles while I go :)
This set is all from the "ANBU Trials" arc. There is one doodle per chapter, and some random ones thrown in there for fun. I wanted to add something that either made me laugh or thought would be fun to illustrate.
I would highly recommend reading Legacy if you are 18+! It is very good and the writers are amazing!
#these guys deserve so much love for this giant project#I started reading legacy and didn't stop for a solid 3 days until I had it all finished#I've re-read legacy a few times since then#very good writing and world building#this was my first time drawing these boys except for kakashi#I'm still getting used to them#some of these were also drawn a few days apart so there might be some inconsistencies#I need to sit down and figure out how to draw everyone's mask#I went with the more canon anbu mask style for familiarity sake along with the descriptions given#I plan to do more of these as I go!#maybe I'll be able to catch up to current events?#these are all light-hearted scenes but seriously 18+!#stuff goes down!#anbu legacy#ryouma#tousaki ryouma#kakashi#hatake kakashi#raidou#namiashi raidou#genma#shiranui genma#katsuko#ueno katsuko#rin#nohara rin#naruto#uzumaki naruto#minato#willo art

not a good face just a reaction
WHAT?????? BEASTARS DID EUGENICS??????? THERES A EUGENICS??????????? WHAT THE FUCK???????
see this is what i love about beastars they just go BALLS TO THE WALLS with the world building for the sake of this strange allegory!! and you'd think having the whole animal thing represent multiple ideas would be messy, but the way itagaki-sensei maneuvers the world so that the animal allegory represents different things at different times is actually really clever! i think trying to piece together what exactly the animal allegory is trying to say at the moment is a really interesting exercise because
OF COURSE your reaction to "theres eugenics in beastars" is WHAT THE FUCK THERES EUGENICS IN BEASTARS??? but then you remember what the rest of beastars is ABOUT, so now the question becomes "how does the eugenics in beastars relate to the overall message about identity?"
characters in beastars struggle with the idea of perception vs identity. at some point in the story, nearly EVERYONE is a victim of some kind of prejudice. the prejudice in the world of beastars shows how the perceptions of society shape our identity, whether we choose to accept social conventions or not.
LIKE?????? this interaction is basically the CORE of the work!!! its so interesting!!!!!!!! beastars good!!!!!!
#beastars#mod dannen speaks#meta#long post#not a good face#im not very good at writing meta but i just thought this was so interesting#eugenics was a bold piece of world building but it really sells how deeply fucked this society is#itagaki-sensei keep it up

Arlecchino's whole deal is unbelievable
Arlecchino: Huh I wonder what's causing my weird powers? I can't really worry about that right now tho, I've gotta become King and then kill my "Mother".
*Kills Clervie and "Mother"*
Arlecchino: Huh I wonder why I was able to defeat a Fatui Harbinger when I'm like 17 or so? I can't really worry about that right now tho, I've gotta be in jail and become a Harbinger.
*Is in jail for a while and becomes a Harbinger*
Arlecchino: Huh I wonder why I am-
Pierro: Hey what's up hello, anyways you're descended from the Crimson Moon Dynasty of Khaenri'ah. I'm sure that this is a lot for you to take in so-
Arlecchino: Ok.
Pierro: ...You're just cool with that?
Arlecchino: IDK maybe? I can't really worry about that at the moment, I'm a father now. This orphanage full of children I love (who also are child soldiers and are not allowed to leave or else I'll execute them except maybe now I'm just gonna wipe their memories IDK I'm morally complex) isn't gonna run itself.
*Runs the orphanage/spy recruitment initiative*
Me, the fucking player: WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU ARE KHAENRI'AN? WHY WASN'T THIS BROUGHT UP IN YOUR FUCKING QUEST?? OR ANYTHING ELSE????
Arlecchino, talking to me through my phone: I honestly don't know why you care, I'm too busy to give a shit. Anyways, I'm gonna go fight fate itself I guess. I'm sure that I don't share any thematic parallels with any other Khaenri'an characters (particularly as it relates to acting and family angst) and that I haven't made the idea of 'curses' on Khaenri'ans and what they entail even more complicated than they already were. See ya.
#arlecchino#genshin impact#pierro#WHY IS THE GAME FUCKING GLOSSING OVER THE FACT THAT SHE IS KHAENRI'AN?!#Not only that but she is the first Khaenri'an we've met (that we know of) who's from the Crimson Moon Dynasty#I'm so fucking confused#Did Celestia place a DIFFERENT curse on members of the Crimson Moon Dynasty?? Or is this stuff all of them can do???#HELP#She also seems almost...uninterested in the fact that she's descended from Khaenri'ah. Which honestly I think is interesting.#I don't know if I like it yet but when every other Khaenri'ah character has one of their major traits being that they super fucking#care that they are Khaenri'an (whether that be Kaeya with his paranoia/destiny/duty or Dain with his guilt over his failure/desire to#prevent our sibling from fucking with anything too much or whatever the fuck is going on with Pierro)#having a character who is Khaenri'an but doesn't seem to particularly be invested in that part of themself is different#she cares more about the curse and its effects on her then she ever really cares about the Crimson Moon Dynasty or the cataclysm#IDK I think it's neat from a character writing angle. or at least it has the potential to be if the writers do a good job.#But from a 'I like maybe 3 things in this game and one of them is Khaenri'ah' perspective it SUCKSSSSS#That part of the plot is already suffering from chronic live-service storytelling disease where people just straight up don't tell you#shit that they logically SHOULD BE TELLING YOU because the game needs to save plot points to build hype around#so for one of like 4-ish (depending on how much we count Albedo) Khaenri'an major characters to give us literally 1 and 1/2 voicelines#kinda sucks ngl. but again it's also interesting and realistic for Arlecchino and from that angle I like it#she doesn't care about what fate says her place in the world is. she's gonna carve her own and being Khaenri'an isn't relevant to#the life and identity she has built for herself. she isn't the type to look for answers she doesn't need. she's practical and efficient.#at the very least it's better than when Albedo 'I want to find all the world's truths' Kreideprinz doesn't let the audience in on his stuff

writing a new fic thats completely out of canon and the core make-up of plot means i have to have two OC's in it. one is pretty minor and the other is the MC. i know OC's in fics are largely seen as cringe, but to me cringe is dead and i am free.
my question is, is there a group of people out there that like OC fics, or am i completely alone? i think its cool that writers can work with pre-established things and also create something totally their own. not to mention that it builds out the AUs in its own way.

The thing I like about my writing is that I never write a story the same way twice. Everything I write demands a different flow.
For example, of the two stories I'm writing now, one wanted present tense (which I am, it turns out, terrible at) and lots of Internet slang/grammar, and the other one decided it had to be made of very short snippets, with one or two longer scenes forming naturally and lots of run on sentences. Both of them I originally tried in my 'more typical' style and both times it failed miserably to click until I scrapped it entirely and restarted.
Ironically enough, the present tense one I'd been intending to write in more episodic bursts, and the snippets one is the start of a long and twisting story delving into deeper themes than I ever have before. But that's the way they wanted to be written! It's more thinking on my behalf than I might have wanted (I am truly fighting my instinct for past tense), but in return I'm finding a rhythm and pattern that's working so well!
I guess the morale of the story is that if you've just started a story or art piece or whatever but it's just not working out, try approaching it from an unusual angle, something you haven't tried before. Something about it isn't clicking, so try a new method entirely!
But most importantly, have a folder somewhere you can move all the little bits and pieces you made but had to take out. It's old advice, but the problem is usually further back than you think. Doesn't mean you have to lose your progress.
#writing#creative writing#fanfic#fanfiction#They're both crossovers of course. I do love crossovers. Reincarnation crossovers especially.#The present tense is mimicking the style of a comedy anime that doesn't really have much of a plot. It's very enjoyable. (it's saiki k)#The protag is a comedically op psychic in normal highschool. He gets into shenanigans his powers exacerbate and hates flirting#The whole show is his dry narration and I'm carrying that into my fic because it's a great fit for Sqq (svsss) and it'll spiral massively#With barely any intervention from me. Just slice of life fluff and flowers and Sqq trying to be a good teacher for his kids#The other is bloodborne and I've already killed wwx a bunch of times. He's very traumatised. He baby too. HIS narration is run on sentences#Because I've found it strikes a good balance between 'appropriately conveying gothic horror' and 'terrified 5yo pov'#And the short sections means I can run through a bunch of minor but important scenes without sacrificing pace and#It lets the world building happen more naturally as wwx learns about his circumstances#That and it balances the run on sentences because there are many and they are long#I can't wait to get back to my computer. I've MISSED writing but it just hasn't been the year for it

Atla live action đ
#thats my honest reaction đ#to be fair ive only seen 20 minutes of the s1 finale bc my parents are watching it but. mmmmm kinda mid#like. the casting is definitely an improvement since the last time they tried a live action but it feels like the writing falls flat#or maybe im being harsh bc ive only heard negative criticism on it beforehand. but fr anytime u bring up the original its already#good and not just because its the original. so much fucking detail went into it to the point of someone noticing azula wielding mai's knive#to how well thought out irohs character is used as a way of uniting the cast especially as zukos foil#i heard that sokkas sexism was toned down and i have to agree that feels like a cheap move. like i get WHY they think it would be better#but its not about how that reflects on real world its about how it affects the story. sokka starts out as a misogynistic asshole because#it makes it that much more impactful when he changes. toning that down makes it flatter and makes his character development weak#and someone pointed out they didnt even make him wear the kyoshi warrior uniform and i know it feels like such a small detail but#come on man. they did that in the original because not only does it help him really walk in their shoes - wearing 'feminine' clothing and#makeup and having suki explain its significance but it also ties in with the shows theme of harmony and intersectionality#i was also disappointed when they had the fire sages explain how the water tribe draws power from the moon because in the original it was#IROH who explained it to aang and everyone else BECAUSE we as the audience is under the impression hes with the 'bad guys'#and it builds up to how he learned from the other nations which reconciles his past as a war general and his character overall#AND its an excellent starting point for the cast and audience to understand how the nations arent as closed off as you would think#plus you would think its only fire nation doing propaganda but they expanded on that with earth kingdom censorship and it WORKS#a lot of things in the live action also feel arbitrary like. they gave momo a near death experience for 5 minutes for no reason#im firmly on the stance of bringing back filler moments instead of putting major events right after each other so that u give your#audience a sense of time passing and to really absorb the story. but i think thats more like shock value than filler and yeah its a small#thing to gripe about but those things build up and its really annoying. the thing abt avatar filler moments is that however small#its at least meaningful. hell even the beach episode emphasizes how isolated zuko and his friends are as child soldiers#i also swore to never watch the first live action since it was that bad but i really liked the stylized tattoos they used for aang#anyway. those arejust my thoughts. im not gonna watch the rest because im a ride or die for the original aftr growing up and#rewatching it at least 20 times as a kid. but theres definitely room for improvement and i wish ppl wouldnt take it as 'better' just cuz#netflix is adapting it. i wouldve killed for them to just reanimate the entire avatar series and touch NOTHING ELSE no redub#no changes to the story. just reanimate the thing and leave the rest alone and youd make easy money just the same#ALSO its very jarring not hearing jack desena and dante basco voicing sokka and zuko cause their voices were the most recognizable to me#i get that its because its live action but im allowed to feel a little sad abt that. and uncle irohs accent was really soothing#yapping

Aang being a shitty dad is fine, but it's the way tlok makes Aang a shitty I have a problem with. You're telling me a guy who's entire culture was whipped out and whole family was massacred wasn't overjoyed at the possibility of sharing his culture with his entire family?
Would Aang have given more attention to Tenzin? Probably, them being the only airbenders would have almost certainly fostered a complex dynamic between the twoâ even to the extent that it would damage the father/son relationship. I think it's also worth pointing out that Aang was raised in a culture without the nuclear family dynamic we see him participarting in with Katara and their kids, and it's not out of the realm of possibility that Aang would fall short of the expectations and responibilities being a typical father figure brings especially when he himself never experienced that dynamic. Especially, especially compounded with the task of rebuilding a struggling world and maintaining peace.
However, do I think he would neglect to show his kids his culture? Their culture? No. Certainly not the extent he did, and especially not when we see how excited he is to share it with his friends in the show. Why wouldn't he be excited to share it with his kids? With all his kids? How the writers of The Legend of Korra make him a bad dad is a complex series of failures not the least of which stem from racism, the unwillingness to even attempt an understanding of multicultural families, TLOK originally being a 12 episode miniseries that then got greenlit for another season and was suddenly taxed with building upon a world that was never intended to exist beyond its original scope, and a fundamental misunderstanding of Aang as a character.
tldr:
#he probably would have been a kinda shitty dad just Not Like That#and while were here#why is bumi portrayed as essentially cultureless? certainly there were non benders in the air nomads#and why does the show act like only Bolin is from the earth nation and Mako from the fire nation?#because these white! creators fundamentally do not understand what living in a multicultural household is like#and were completely incurious to what the experience might've been like for these characters#and again. to harp on the whole building upon a world that was never intended to exist outside its original premise thing#that's why the writing gets weaker in the second season and picks back up in the third#these writers are clearly talented but so obviously fumbled when it came to expanded on these characters#who were written for a short quick one off series and then suddenly had to exist outside of that#all of the arcs and story beats were pretty one note and quick because book 1 is a full complete story#that's why only book 1 ties into the name conventions of atla#because all of the legend of korra was originally built to just be book one#and then suddenly your stuck with this story that you had completely wrapped up#and characters who now have to be expanded beyond what they were intended to be#and the writers very clearly could not do that. that's why Aang being a shitty dad comes out of left field almost.#and why none of the villains tie into each other until the very end with a quick little explanation#and it's also why the world building is so much weaker than atla#atla was know for it's compelling world building and dynamic side characters None of which exist in tlok#or well. they do! in a much smaller diluted form.#because functionally the story is still trapped in the original confines of the first season#and also trapped in the back there is 50% less content every season#no time to experience a small village in the fire nation! we gotta get to plot!#no time to flesh out the comic relief character!! plot! gotta get to the plot!!#and they couldn't even make that plot good in the second season.#atla#tlok#aang

This Home of Mine
How had it come to this?, Aviloh asked himself as the argument around him began to get louder. Somehow he had known it would all end horribly one day. He just had hoped it would take a little longer. He only had himself to blame for this, he thought as his eyes fearfully scanned the crowd that was slowly gathering around them.
There at the sidelines stood Uâkhaya with a gleeful expression on her face. She knew this would happen, he realised. But Aâviloh wasnât the kind of person to blame her for what happenedâŚ
Uâkhubaâs twin sister had always been following the boys around even when they all had still been kids. She had been a brave and stubborn little girl, maybe a little mean sometimes but not more so than her brother. Aâviloh had always thought she was following them because of Khuba - twins being inseparable or something. Never had he imagined the reason would be Laqa instead.
Of course he could have guessed it. Everyone loved Laqa! Apparently Khaya wasnât an exception in this matter.
That evening - before the argument - Aâviloh had waited for quite some while by the pond. They had always used to hide there when they still had been kids, every time the other boys had stirred trouble or teased the girls.
By now it was one of the spots Laqa and him sometimes used as meeting points when they sneaked out of the settlement together. But today the other Miqoâte had arrived so late, Aâviloh had already started to wonder if something had happened.
âThere you are!â, Aviloh said relieved as Laqa finally appeared just when he was about to go searching for him. âI was already worried. Did something happen?â
The blonde Miqoâte made an annoyed face. âJust Khaya happenedâŚâ
Aâviloh didnât understand. âKhaya? Whatâs wrong with her?â
âEverything apparently!â, Laqa exclaimed disgruntled, which made Aâviloh even more confused.
Laqa sighed.
âShe waylaid me on my way outside.â, he explained but couldnât help to look a little angry still. âStarted talking some nonsense about how impressed she was about the quarry from our last hunt and how it is a shame that it isnât me leading the tribe instead of father.â
Aâviloh furrowed his brows, still not quite connecting the dots. Laqa grimaced. âThen she threw herself at me and tried to kiss me.â
âShe what?â, Aâviloh exclaimed a little louder than intended, with a mix of shock and disbelief on his face.
Laqa raised his hands in a calming manner. âDonât worry! I of course told her that I am not interested. Like I ever would be anyway! We may be almost the same age but she is still my motherâs sister. What was she even thinking, Vi?â
Aâvi shrugged but couldnât help to remember something one of Laqaâs sisters had once told him. âLamana mentioned that Khaya didnât agree with some of Uâodhâs opinions. She thought her and Khuba were still mad with him because of their fatherâŚâ
âThat makes no sense! They have no reason for that! Itâs not like father threw them all out!â, Laqa said annoyed. âAlone because of mom he wouldnât have! Anyway, grandpa had been old already, if not father then someone else would sooner or later have challenged him. All of them were always treated equally. Why would they be mad?â
Aâviloh gave another shrug and smiled weakly. âMaybe itâs none of that and she really just is a little in love with you⌠I canât blame herâŚâ
Laqa lightly glared at him, as if he wanted to say âthis isnât funnyâ, but couldnât help to grin himself.
âItâs still absurd!â, he said while shaking his head.
âYou think?â, Aâviloh asked and chuckled. âI wouldnât be surprised if half the village was secretly in love with you.â
Laqa made a sound somewhere between an annoyed huff and a suppressed laugh. Then he stretched out a hand for Aâviloh to take. As Aâviloh did so Laqa pulled him closer and wrapped his arms around him. âToo bad for them that the only one I will ever love is you.â
All too willingly - too carelessly! - Aâviloh melted into the other Miqoâteâs embrace. Laqa saying things like this never failed to give him a warm and fuzzy feeling. Just as much as Laqa kissing him always made his heart skip a beat and his mind go silent.
Gently Aâviloh wrapped his arms around the taller Miqoâteâs neck, like an invitation to pull him even closer and deepen their kiss, when suddenly a sound appeared nearby. Their ears, currently slightly drooped, attentively shot up and both Miqoâte instinctively turned to see where the unexpected sound had come from.
Without doubt, there by one of the larger rocks nearby, eyes wide and mouth agape in disbelief, stood a Miqoâte girl with dark hair and bright blue eyes.
Khaya!
This was the exact moment Aâviloh knew he was in trouble.
âKhayaâŚâ, Laqa was the first one to find his voice again. He sounded almost as if he wanted to reassure a shy animal, but it only made the girl unfreeze, whirl around and run away. âNo! Khaya, wait!â, Laqa called and ran after her. He probably wanted to explain, wanted to beg her to stay silent, but Aâviloh knew it was too late already.
With his heart hammering against his chest and his thoughts racing he stood there and just watched them go. For a second he wondered what he should do now. But he had nowhere else to go, probably no one else who would defend him apart from Laqa. So slowly he followed them back to the settlement, wishing he could just vanish into thin air.
***
âTell me this isnât the thruth.â, Uâodh demanded from his son. His voice was still relatively calm but there already was a tone in it, a kind of threatening sound that also reflected on his face.
For a moment the thought crossed Aâvilohâs mind, that Laqa could simply have lied. That he simply could have denied everything. Maybe, just maybe, his father would have believed him.
But that wasnât like Laqa.
âItâs true!â, Laqa admitted and turned his face a little bit to look at Aâviloh, who so far had stood a few steps behind him, trying to stay out of Uâodhâs attention. âAâvi and I are a couple.â
A murmur went through the crowd and somehow even Aâviloh felt surprised to hear him say this so bluntly for everyone to hear. Uâodh laughed, but it lacked any humor. Aâviloh already looked very uncomfortable but when the nunhâs sharp eyes landed on him, he almost flinched away and cast his eyes down to the ground.
âThat weak little welp?!â, Uâodh spat out, speaking to his son but still looking and pointing at Aâviloh. âWhat do you want with him?! Heâs good for nothing!â
Aâviloh had never quite understood this either. There were so many better people than him and still Laqa had chosen him instead. Carefully Aâviloh glimpsed up at Laqa and could see his whole body tense up against the nunhâs insulting words. Stubbornly Laqa stared into his fatherâs eyes and growled.
âDonât you dare to speak of him like that! I donât care if he can fight or not, he is kind and wonderful and I love him!â
But Uâodh simply shook his head and laughed condescendingly.
âLove?! Donât be foolish now⌠you know nothing about love.â
That had been too much for Laqa.
Usually no one dared to speak up against Uâodh no matter how harsh his words sometimes were. But Laqa, in a way just like his father and in another just like his mother, never had known how to back down. The anger about the situation and also about his father didnât help, so his next words sounded especially blunt and sharp, more so than he probably truly thought.
âMore than you! You wouldnât recognise love if it stood right in front of you! Because you are just a bitter resentful man who doesnât know how to love!â
Shocked gasps sounded from the crowd and everybody stared at either Laqa or his father, waiting for a reaction. For a few long seconds both remained silent. But while Laqa just stared at the older Miqoâte with a stubborn, unyielding face, the nunhâs face changed slowly but entirely. All the mockery faded from his face and instead his expression turned to an angry snarl.
Aâviloh knew he would only end up in the crossfire but if he didnât do something now, they would certainly fight and that was the last thing any of them could want. He didnât really know what to say but scraped up all his bravery and stepped forward a bit. Trying to divert their attention from each other he spoke up, still quiet but clearly audible against this deadly silence.
âPlease stop, I donât ââ
But Uâodh wasnât going to listen to whatever he had to say. Furiously he whirled towards him and stepped closer with wild rage in his eyes.
âNo one allowed YOU to speak, you pathetic little weakling! Get out of my sight, you are none of my kin and I never want to see your whiny face again! You are nothing but a parasite and I have suffered your presence here for long enough! Begone! You are no longer welcome here!â
Of course. Aâviloh had expected this but it still hurt to hear these words out loud. He tried not to cry but already looked quite miserable already, even without tears. Uâodh however wasnât done with him yet.
âOh, how I regret the day I allowed you to stay here! I wish you had just died with the rest of your miserable family!â, the nunh hissed and looked as if he was about to attack Aâviloh with more than just hurtful words.
With tears in his eyes Aâviloh shivered in fear and flinched away. He had never seen Uâodh so furious before. But before the man could loose his self-control entirely and really tried to strike at him, Laqa stepped between them and protectively wrapped his arms around Aâviloh.
Instantly everything went silent again. Everyone seemed shocked by what had happened or what Uâodh had just said. Even the nunh himself seemed stunned when he saw his sonâs disgusted face, staring at him. But Uâodh was not the kind of man to give in or admit his failures. Instead he quietly but sharply said, âDonât look at me so. My word is final. He is none of our family and I want him gone by tomorrow.â
With a strange mixture of defiance and sadness Laqa looked at his father for a moment, before he spoke.
âIn that case I donât consider you my family any longer either. A place where Aâvi isnât welcome I cannot call my home. If you send him away, I will go with him!â
Briefly a shadow crossed his face but then Uâodh looked entirely unfazed again.
âWhere would you even go?â, he asked and shook his head dismissively.
âAnywhere but here...â, Laqa replied coldly and turned to Aâviloh. âLetâs go and pack our things.â
All of this had happened so suddenly Aâviloh still could not quite believe it. No matter what Uâodh had said, for him this place was still his home and the people here the closest thing he had to a family. He didnât want to leave.
âWhat? Now?â, he asked and pleadingly looked to Laqa, hoping that there was some way to make everything right after all.
âYes! Iâm sure we can stay with the Flames for one night and tomorrow morning we leave.â
His decision seemed to be final, just as Uâodhâs. What was Aâviloh supposed to do against that?
Laqa made a point of taking Aâvilohâs hand so everyone could see it and knew to whom his loyalty belonged. Slowly he let his gaze wander over the crowd of curious faces giving them one last chance to speak up but they all remained silent.
With a last disappointed look at his father he turned around and walked away, unconcerned that they all stared at them as they left.

Sukuna and Gojo didn't have the right to be such good characters, but there they are I guess
#Thinking of them constantly lately. The parallels are so good it makes me want to tear my face apart lol#I could have been okay with them being cool and fun and just entertaining to watch#But no they have to be actually well written complex characters that play with very intriguing concepts as well#That's when they become a problem and by god are they a problem#I can't believe one of my first impressions when watching the first few episodes of the anime was 'Gojo and Sukuna are kinda the same thing#and that the manga ended with that sort of parallel#Unified in the role of Yuji a bit#Soooo good everything happening with Gojo and Sukuna and especially in the context of the two kids#but also so good what is happening with the three kids in the end when thinking about the three kids of Gojo's past and sbfksbfjfj#Why does JJK have to be so good#when it's utterly boring and forgettable for so many chapters too with how typically mediocre shonen it gets at times?#It drives me insane lol#I talk too much#I should probably delete this later#Shonen mangas: we have the most nuts and thought inspiring world building and dynamics you've ever seen#but instead let's just watch two guys beat each other up for over one year okay? This will happen every three months of actual writing#Every once in a while there will be one page that will rewire your brain and haunt you for decades#so that you won't ever be able to entirely free yourself#Here's a sexist joke and an homophobic one too even if the story has queer themes and misogynia criticism

Ep 6!!!
#Biggest take away from the episode: @fandom Dazai can't be Atsushi's father figure if he himself says Atsushi's father figure is theâ#headmaster check your facts#Second biggest take away from the episode: the worst thing the headmaster transmitted Atsushi ought to be the terrible haircut choices#Mmmmhhh I could spend another whole tag rant to talk about how much I dislike the writing of Lucy in this episode đđđ#But I worry I'll start being perceived as someone who hates women if I do so I won't.#(But let me just say. I really really *really* despite the âwhat women [alien and mysterious beings] want is hard to understand andâ#impossible to decipher and more often than not they will say the exact opposite of what they meanâ stereotype.#Like I hate it to an intimate extent.)#I quite like Kyouka's backstory!! I feel like she's the most fleshed out female character with a compelling character arc and personality.#I really like her. Lucy and Atsushi working as make-do parents (very largerly intended. More like siblings who are dating but that soundsâ#even worse) was very cute. And I appreciate how the events seemed to set off Atsushi's own reflection on parenthood.#The same doesn't happen in the manga since the chapters are placed in a different order.#Overall this is just an episode that when I was reading the manga for the first time solidified my understanding that me and b/sd have#RADICALLY different views on the world. But now that after three years and having long come to terms with it.#I suppose it's just something that's there.#Ususal notes about the animation just for talks. The lack of budget really shows this episode and in the second half in particular.#It's especially noticeable in backgrounds that are just... Not the stunning backgrounds that usually make b/sd's anime strong point.#So in turn the lack of details comes off as twice as evident as it normally would :/#The whole Atsushi / Tanizaki exchange at the start of the chapter until the headmaster's identity is revealed is completely devoidâ#of host which has me just?? What happened here??? A track slowly building up tension is an almost automatic choice I'm just like.#What happened. If it was a deliberate choice it was a very bad one in my humble opinion#On a more positive note I really like whoever drew the characters âbackground appearenceâ this episode eheh#(you knowâ the more stylized one when they're not on close up)#And the drawings at the end of the episode daz/atsu twilight scene were good. Kyouka's flashback was also good.#That's it :)#random rambles#Oh yeah rip chapter 39 ss/kk scene ig :///

Animal species- to be added on to
Sapient animals- due to magic becoming a thing sapient creatures became more common. Almost everything humanoid shaped became sapient, and anything with a close relationship with a divine can become sapient rather easily. Humans as a species evolved out of existence. They have multiple descendants. Evolution is much faster with the existence of magic people have found out.
Bees- thereâs wild bees, domestic bees, and sapient bees. Gaia bees are the sapient species.
Unicorns - are a deer that has adapted to environmental conditions and magic. There is wild and sapient. Cannot be domesticated. Farming them is extremely dangerous but very rewarding. Plant unicorns are heavily religious figures due to their connection to Gaia and are under protection. Fire unicorns are an endangered species.
Griffins- a hybrid of cats and birds. There is wild, domesticated, and sapient. Domesticated are often seen as pets and hunting animals.
Phoenixes- a bird that adapted to fire and has a very unique ability to be reborn from its own ashes if conditions are favorable. Almost always sapient, rarely wild. Connections to two divines. Sol and magic.

Boy King Seb :D
#thank you to Grace for the idea of making his chivarly collar red bull instead <33333#he was gonna have both collars but then making that one made me suffer so no not today#this was a lot of fun but also made me suffer. but i keep looking at it and being like AAAHHHHH BABY!!! BABY BOY!!!!!!!#can you believe i tried to do this in one night? i cant#i stopped and came back to it and was like 'no way you could do this in one sitting at 1 am'#this is kinda the ascended form of that very first sketch i made for this au! concentrated boy king sebby!!!#i say to myself i need to take a break from drawing complicated things but youll prob see a nando version of this in less than a week ;;;#okay about the drawing(i wrote good tags and then tumblr deleted them so these are a bit inferior AGH):#this is typical pouty seb but is also referenced off a specific pic from AD 2009(beloved)#its very important to me how emotionally open Seb is. im not sure the specific context of this. maybe after a triumph?#but instead of being that typical stoic serious detached kind of ruler; i like him being openly emotional(think AD 2010)#its important as well for his dichotomy with nando and how they choose to portray themselves#seb is very assured in himself and his rule vs. nando who is more insecure and bitter about his#so nando takes strides to portray himself in that more stoic calculating way bcs he feels like it helps him legitimize himself better#whereas seb has absolutely no care for outward public image and shows how he feels and is loved for it(nando hates it but loves it)#not that nando cant be fun and whimsical!! but to me he always seems a bit more mysterious; like i can never tell his true thoughts tbh#anyways i feel like ill finish 10 more drawings before i end up posting the lore pt 2 LMAO#its just a lot harder to organize and layout compared to part 1 which was just an explanation#pt2 would be a mix of more world building/characterization/anecdotes ive talked about with mutuals(LOVE YOU GUYS!!!)#i have a *lot* of ideas (gotta whip out my notes app every once in a while to write down stuff abt it) just hard to put into a coherent pos#sebastian vettel#f1#formula 1#f1 art#formula 1 art#f1 fanart#formula 1 fanart#catie.art.#*ill prob make a process post later if anyone is curious!! its fun to write abt my process and influences and such#boy king au

#AAAAAUGH. I canât even summarize bc I have never been good at summaries#I always went over the necessary word count in school LOL to the point the teacher just accepted it would happen and tallied the number#instead of marking my grade down LMAO#she gave up#ANYWAY. fics are so beautiful and everyone that writes consistently is powerful#one is Bagginshield I just need to work out logistics for when it takes place and how#the other is World Building involving a TON of characters and I may have to intro it very slowly lol

Dune fans keep warning people not to read too many Dune books is hilarious because I feel the same way about Enderâs Game. If you think you want to read Speaker for the Dead no you donât. No you donât.
Edit: read some of the stuff yâall are saying about Dune and uh never mind. Enderverse is fine.
#leo says shit#itâs not⌠badâŚ#I mean like yeah there was almost half sibling incest and the pigs had gay sex at one point and also there was the plot twist#but itâs not /graphic/ itâs just⌠strange#very creative#the writing and world building are very good itâs just everything that happens in the world is just super fucking weird#and racist as all get out Jesus#if you want to read some truly uncomfortable sci-fi thatâs not too out there I recommend Bloodchild by Octavia Butler#itâs got blood itâs got aliens itâs got coerced sex it is nasty and it is thought provoking and I need everyone to read it#itâs super quick you can knock it out in a half hour just donât read it while eating cuz thereâs gore#those were trigger warnings sorry I phrased them like they were a good thing#dune#enderâs game#speaker for the dead

have always been a bit more neutral to timebomb but it has rly surprisingly grown on me so much ;-; i think i do see it more from the tragedy angle and maybe more one-sided. i'm not sure jinx has ever been in a place to reciprocate the feelings i'm sure ekko has, but it is nice to think about for years down the line and in terms of what could have been.
#arcane tag#i do prefer more understated or fanon ships and i think even getting them canon in an AU it still makes it more understated in the#main timeline to me? and rly good for imagining and tragic for what could've been etc#i also think friend-wise they could have the same exact tragedy - to me the point is just... closeness?#i get some of the backlash to it - like there are definitely things i could get annoyed about if i WANTED to make a big deal out of it#but i think it's sweet and i think regardless of romantic implications the link of ekko and jinx having basically the same trauma all#stem from their own actions (him giving the kids the tip about jayce and powder using the hexcore they got as a result in#catastrophic ways) and landing in such different directions (ekko using that as motivation to build / jinx getting stuck in destruction)#is just so interesting to me#i guess you could have that WITHOUT romance but i do think in the AU world them getting romantically closer makes a lot of sense#and i don't rly think there's a ton of clear romantic stuff in the main timeline that couldn't be read otherwise if it rly pissed people of#that badly lol so it is possible some of my appreciation for the ship comes out of spite from that crowd#honestly so much of the backlash seems geared more toward shippers than actual canon given the subtlety of it until now#which i do nottt vibe with tbh#just at the end of the day to me it is so easy to fall into how much ekko cares abt powder/jinx and how their paths diverged#and i guess i can get how adding a romantic layer would be annoying to some ppl but i think the kind of emotions doesn't#rly matter at the end of the day bc there is that same foundation either way#also when i say i get some of the backlash it's not that i agree with it lol#but if i wanted to force a reason for not vibing with it in that scenario i could#like the fact of not leaving it platonic ('why does everything have to be romantic!') or i'm sure LOTS of other lesbians#are pissed that a non-canon m/f ship has been more popular than canon f/f which.#i mean sometimes that stuff is odd but 9/10 times it's just preference for the dynamics#(signed. a lesbian. who got into the show for f/f and landed in other f/f ships more than the canon one lol)#and at the same time if i wanted to get political about it in retaliation i could highlight that timebomb is interracial#it's mostly stupid at the end of the day and i wish we could focus more on whether the writing was well done with what it meant to do#or just let ppl do what they want for fanon as long as they're not hurting anyone else#i think rly the main thing i would be more willing to listen to is the treatment of ekko as a black character in relation to this#which - if there is anything to that - is a very different story than 'ew m/f!!!!!!!!!1'#anyway sorry my brain is a discourse speedrun simulator at all times bc of being so chronically on tumblr#tl;dr good ship with so much good fan stuff out there
