A rough voice broke the silence, and gently startled the room's other occupant, pulling her attention from the tablet in her hand; Luida lifted her head and near instantly, a cross between relief and excitement filled her eyes. A small smile came across her face, and nimble fingers flew across her haptic screen— letting her other half know that their charge was awake with a short and simple 'he's up!' sent across a private channel —before she set it down and rose to her feet, trying not to seem too eager… or overly-relieved to see him conscious.

She's been informed of his ability to heal before, but still, she can't help but fret.

"Ah, you're awake…! Oh, but don't strain yourself too much yet: your eyes and airways are likely still irritated. You should probably shower the second you feel up to it, it'll help clear some of that away—" she said (rambled, really) as she made her way over towards the water closet to fetch the poor thing a glass of water. She came shuffling out with it before she actually responded to the undertaker's question.

"We're… still looking for him—" the Sinner said, stopping politely with the glass at Wolfwood's beside… though a little closer to the end of it, since she didn't want to invade his space too much when he was just waking up. She continued, shaking her head, "but the storm picked up again as we were getting you inside… if it was bad enough to separate the two of you in the first place, then it'll probably be a little while."

… Luida looked down at the glass, then back up to the prone form of the young man in front of her. With two shuffling steps, she came closer, and offered out the glass.

"How are you feeling, Nicholas?"

it isn’t the most ideal of situations, if she’s honest ---------- the way she’s gotten them more or less ( she’ll argue less, but then again, she can be a stubborn one ) stuck on a stonework ledge barely wide enough for one of the sea birds that perch around dock town, let alone the lot of them. the waiting around part for the perfect opportunity to jump off that same stonework ledge isn’t much of a romp either.

but the reason she’s got them all playing dock town gargoyles is legitimate, at least; hearing so much as a whisper about venatori means she’s going to look into it before they leave the city and head back home to the lighthouse. ( and s it really her fault that a supposedly secret organization likes to pick somewhere holed up and out of the way to gather? it just means she has to get a little creative when it comes to how they’re going to crash the party. and when she says crash, she means it literally. )

“you’re telling me you’ve never jumped through a skylight before? no death from above?” there’s a lilt to her voice, and a curl at the corner of her mouth ---- one that hints at those questions not being completely serious. it’s a way to help pass the time until they start hearing the conversations pick back up below at least.

“don’t knock it until you’ve tried it.”

for  the  first  time  in  two  weeks,  kyungsoo  forces  himself  out  of  his  wretched  state.  he  has  tidied  up  the  mess  their  apartment  has  become,  cleaned  himself  up  as  well  —  not  wanting  to  face  the  inevitable  judgment  from  eden  when  he's  in  such  a  terrible  condition.  it's  certain  that  he  still  appears  far  from  his  best,  soulless  with  ghastly  dark  circles  under  his  eyes  and  having  shrunk  a  third  of  his  previous  self  —  unsurprising,  considering  his  diet  has  consisted  mostly  of  alcohol,  hardly  the  healthiest  regimen.  however,  he  cannot  bear  to  be  near  eden,  when  the  man  has  come  to  collect  his  belongings,  for  all  his  heart  yearns  to  do  is  fall  to  his  knees  and  beg  forgiveness  once  more.

what  overrides  his  suffocating  fear  of  another  rejection  is  the  raging  storm  outside  and  the  danger  it  poses  to  eden.  "it's  impossible  to  drive  in  this  weather."  as  if  to  prove  his  point,  the  lights  promptly  flicker  out,  leaving  the  apartment  cloaked  in  pitch  black  darkness,  save  for  the  sparse,  seeping  illumination  from  the  street  lamps  running  on  emergency  power.  "just  stay...  until  it's  over."  until  what  is  over?  "please."  / @artisn

1 is Lose Your Head by Vane Lily! Though going with 69 would’ve been funny, the whole reason Lose Your Head got number 1 on my list this year is bc of the elaborate and fully realised Devo amv that I imagine in my head every time I listen to it, so I couldn’t pass that up LOL 🫡

I actually started this sketch based on this same song/the amv in my head a few months back, so I figured this was a good excuse to polish it up a bit 🙏

Back at her home, it was easier to pass off the things she did as a dragon as the behavior of other animals. Leftover deer carcasses were the works of bears or wolves. Giant ruts in the earth were wild boars. The folk in the nearby village were wary enough of wild animals to believe it. Besides, they cared more about the rumors of her being a witch than thinking a dragon was living so close by.

But now that she's started traveling...

She didn't expect to be interrogated by the world's most superstitious cowboy.

"I am most certainly not a fairy, nor a mage!" Annalise huffed, tugging her bonnet closer to her head. "My hint is that what I am starts with an H, and ends with an N! I mean, look at me. Do I look like I'm capable of any sort of magic whatsoever, mister?"

the singular problem with adrenaline is that it's finite ------ there will always come a time when it knocks your feet out from under you, and usually when it's least expected. it's a problem she's dealt with countless times, but she hasn't gotten any better at being able to predict when she'll take the long tumble off that ledge of feeling better than she really is.

arlathan was no different ---- more than enough venatori to make her stomach churn, another archdemon to worry about ... and now not just the one, but two elvhen gods ringing in her ears. ( as if being less than plussed about the connection between her and solas wasn't enough; having elgar'nan in her head, however briefly, left her rattled more than she'd expected it to. ) adrenaline had gotten her through bringing the rest of the dalish back to camp and checking in with strife and irelin in the aftermath. past that ----- she couldn't be sure, but she had to have been asleep with a migraine the size of the forest she'd just left for at least a day or two; and with a pair wobbly legs still attempting to remember how to shuffle themselves around the lighthouse.

his concern is appreciated, of course --- but as she always seems to, she attempts to play down how she's feeling with a bob of her shoulders. "it's this or climbing the walls i'm afraid," she exhales a laugh, but she knows there's more than a fair bit of truth to it. "but if you'd rather i was hanging from the light fixtures, it can be arranged." sitting idle isn't something she's good at on her best days ----- maybe there's a part of her that thinks if she keeps moving, elgar'nan won't be able to catch up to her again.

"oh," a pause as she weighs the consequences of asking the question on the tip of her tongue, "you wouldn't have any sort of enchantment or ward to keep someone out of your thoughts, would you? ... is that even possible?"

///Hey I said this on one of my other blogs, but I'd like to apologize for the long absence. I have been dealing with a lot of IRL stuff, moving out and into my sisters house. Then trying to find a place with my partner. (didn't happen, but we tried and we'll try again in the future) Then I got sick. :( I'm still a little sick, but I've been recovering. I'll be active again soon, on all of my blog hopefully.
