i swear half the writers' room wanted to put logan through hell because they loved him and the other half because they hated him
he has some of the best character development in the series and has the most realistic reactions to how fucking tragic his pretty rich boy life is, but also backslides in a very frustrating way that feels like there's a tug-of-war between his fans and detractors
they just undo all his character development for season one in half an episode, make veronica dump him, then later in the season BURN HIS HOUSE DOWN ???? it feels excessive in an inauthentic way tbh and they just put him through the wringer again and again and again

the world
Tumblr media
It’s her lack of closure with Sam’s death that brought Elenore here now. She’s sure of it.
And it’s not like she has too many regrets. If she hadn’t fallen for Charlie, she wouldn’t have Veronica. Maybe she and Sean would have had a daughter of their own, and maybe they would have named her Veronica like Elenore had always planned. But it wouldn’t be her, the most perfect girl in the world, who’s just about to finish high school and grew up too fast, too smart, too beautiful. But she can never be too much of anything. Being too much of something is an insult, hurled at you by someone who’s too chicken to be your friend.
Or someone who’s too chicken to be your husband.
Elenore’s lost track of how long Sean Fitzpatrick has been her partner. In a way, it’s been since second grade, when Elenore moved to New York. They fused at each other’s sides. But even in elementary school, Sean went through a phase where he didn’t want to be Elenore’s friend. In the first half of the fifth grade, some other girl took up all his time. She said Elenore was too much – too much drama, too much loud, too much everything. If Sean hung around with other people, maybe he’d be happier. And he was – for about three months. Around Christmastime, he came back to Elenore.
When they broke up in college, Sean cited similar concerns. Yeah, he’d fallen in love with someone else, but maybe he wouldn’t have if Elenore was more relaxed, more secure, more chilled out. He said she demanded people’s time in ways she didn’t recognize, that it was hard to be around someone who needed that much attention. He was nineteen and stupid, but at the time, he meant it. Elenore still thinks about it when she looks at him now.
It’s happening again. They’ve been married for ten years, and it’s happening again.
If Elenore is honest with herself, it’s been happening since the lockdown. Elenore, ever the performer, couldn’t stand being inside the apartment with nothing to do. The world had never been so small. So she wrote skits. Tons and tons of skits. There’s a part of her that thinks she missed her calling as a writer for the National Lampoon, but by the time she was old and educated enough, there was no National Lampoon to write for.
The skits were mostly topical. Stuff about the pandemic and the election cycle. Some of them were just ludicrous, like “Werewolves of London,” which she can’t bring herself to think about because of how much Sean seemed to hate it. And maybe Elenore shouldn’t have made him read all the skits. Maybe she shouldn’t have asked him and Veronica to act out the skits with her. But what the hell else were they supposed to do?
Sean says he’s still waiting for her to grow up. Stop playing games. He says he’s sorry that Charlie took advantage of her when she was still just nineteen, but that’s no excuse to act like a college freshman everyday of her life.
Elenore doesn’t see it that way. She sees it as being funny. Spirited.
Her therapist seems to agree with Sean. You’re an adult child! she says, as though that’s something she should be proud of.
No one seems to get her. Nobody but Veronica, who co-writes scripts with Emma over FaceTime every weekend.
Elenore’s not really sure what she’s going to do about it.
So, she keeps writing, hoping somebody out there wants to listen … wants to play.

I feel like Logan’s death really commandeers the conversation about how terrible season 4 of Veronica Mars is (understandably so it is horrific) but there’s literally SO MUCH MORE THAN THAT 😭
Veronica isn’t Veronica and Logan isn’t Logan (really NO ONE is truly in character anymore). Rob Thomas clearly has NO IDEA what healing actually looks like so Logan becomes this pop psychology stereotype with no depth or emotion and like Veronica literally says A POD PERSON. And he describes his therapy as controlling his anger so it doesn’t consume him. That might have been the move as a temporary band-aide immediately to stabilize his life after season 3 but what like 12 years later???? When season 4 starts? ABSOLUTELY NOT. Fire that therapist immediately 😭 He should be WELL into the source of his anger. Healing isn’t about control it’s about surrender and acceptance of your feelings and developing healthy coping strategies to process your newly uncovered feelings so you can live WITH them not in spite of them. There’s a reason so many “good guy” characters are so one dimensional and boring it’s because the male writers writing them literally have NO CLUE what a healthy well adjusted men act like 😭 - (Ted Lasso was so rare because we had good men writing good men)
And yes we know Logan punching people does it for Veronica but that’s because it is ALWAYS in defense of her but his safety and well being is always her number 1 priority (he pulls a gun to save her in the Fitzpatricks bar and she screams at him because she doesn’t want him to get hurt or killed in his attempt to defend her and she’s terrified). Him just punching a kitchen cabinet in rage and frustration is NOT the same thing at all and she would show concern in that situation not immediately instigate sex ROBERT.
The idea that Veronica did ZERO growing/healing/processing in those 12 years is so insulting and just not realistic - once she got space and distance she would have come out of fight or flight and been assaulted with all the repressed emotions from seasons 1-3 before law school yet somehow she’s WORSE than she was when she was younger with less stability and support and capacity to handle everything she was dealing with.
Especially after everything established in the movie!
“Are you gonna ask me if I did it?”
“I wouldn’t be here if I thought you did”
THE AMOUNT OF GROWTH THAT SHOWS IN VERONICA IS ACTUALLY INSANE. Miss never trusts anybody, suspect EVERYONE until your can verify the truth - believes Logan and Weevil AT THEIR WORD. Trusts THEIR CHANGE implicitly and picks helping Logan and Weevil BECAUSE SHE CARES not because it’s a fucking addiction as Rob tried to frame it in the movie 💀💀💀 Veronica always helped because she’s SOFT because she has a good heart and can’t help but help when she knows she can which is classic of parentified children - you believe everything is your responsibility to fix if it’s in your capability to fix. Does she get neurotic trying to solve cases? Absolutely! But that is trying to control and fix external problems as a distraction from her own. It was a coping mechanism and taking that coping mechanism away in the 9 years between season 3 and the movie would have caused serious problems for her that would have forced her to confront her issues.
Season 4 could have been Veronica having a complete break down from her always too full plate coming crumbling down trying to help and fix too much combined with logan being gone and always at risk when he is gone, Wallace bringing new life into an increasingly corrupt neptune she can’t seem to save, Mac working for Jake Kane?!!?! I would have loved If instead she was helping Mac deal with the swapped at birth thing they NEVER touched again. Combined with her dad’s health problems and Weevil falling back into his old habits. She is someone who feels responsible for everything and everyone around her because everyone blamed her for EVERYTHING when she was younger and eventually that catches up with you and THAT is what I wanted to see her strength crumble forcing her to be truly vulnerable and instead of asking for favors asking for HELP allowing her to stop acting like a woman written by a man and act like an actual adult woman BY women who actually understand that experience. Rob was SO out of his depth - his portrayal of Leanne in earlier seasons already proved that.
But that’s just one of literally 1 million possibilities that would have been better than the direction Rob chose. He managed to strip away everything we loved about ALL of his characters until they were ghosts of themselves and it makes me SO UPSET 😭 because he literally revived a show just to finish the destruction path he started in season 3, that had started to be corrected in the movie because it was so controlled by the fans.
Rob and Joss - two men who’s success was built upon a largely female audience and then their misogyny caused them to try and destroy everything their audiences loved 🙃🙃🙃🙃

[ad_1] Cervera Actual Property is increasing to Palm Seashore. The brokerage, headquartered in Brickell and a longtime gross sales powerhouse for Miami's waterfront apartment towers, is opening workplaces on the island and over the bridge in West Palm Seashore, based on a press launch. Led by founder and Chairman Alicia Cervera and her daughters, managing accomplice Alicia Cervera Lamadrid and CEO Veronica Cervera Goeseke, the agency will open its workplaces at 250 Value Avenue in Palm Seashore and 600 South Dixie Freeway in West Palm Seashore by mid-March, a spokesperson confirmed. The agency owns the 1,700-square-foot workplace house in West Palm Seashore, and signed a three-year lease for the 1,000-square-foot Value Avenue workplace, based on a spokesperson. “We see fertile territory,” stated Cervera Lamadrid. For Cervera's specialty of promoting preconstruction condominiums, West Palm Seashore definitely has lots to supply. Hundreds of items are deliberate for the town's waterfront hall, catering to an inflow of luxurious consumers pushed by company relocations to the realm and the shortage of a state earnings tax. Since November, Steve Ross' Associated Firms launched gross sales for its deliberate South Flagler Homethe place costs vary from $5.9 million to $72.5 million for the penthouse, and Shorecrest, the place costs are $1.3 million to $9 million. Terra and Sympatico Actual Property are planning Cipriani-branded condos with costs beginning at $2 million. Cervera Lamadris stated the brokerage is angling to signify one of many many initiatives deliberate for West Palm Seashore. “Our hat is within the ring,” she stated. Whereas acknowledging West Palm Seashore's apartment increase, she emphasised the will of Cervera's brokers to maneuver into the market. Cervera tapped Julie Harron to guide the Palm Seashore workplace, and Susana Diaz Martinez to guide the West Palm Seashore workplace. Harron joins the brokerage after relocating from Chicago, the place she nonetheless hangs her license with Jameson Sotheby's Worldwide Realty. She is presently working with K2 Company Mobility to relocate a number of govt groups from Illinois to South Florida, based on the discharge. Harron stated she sees consumers coming to Palm Seashore from Chicago, New York, Dallas, London and Singapore. “There is a excessive stage of progress from the banking trade, funding trade, legislation corporations,” she stated. Cervera's growth is the most recent in a string of brokerage strikes, as corporations purpose to say dominance on the extremely fascinating Palm Seashore and West Palm Seashore turf. Earlier this month, compass relocated its island workplace to Value Avenue, signing a 10-year lease. Final 12 months, Serhant introduced growth plans in Palm Seashore County, and The Company expanded to Palm Seashore. Corcoran bulked up its management in its island workplace, including Marcia Van Zyl as senior managing director for South Florida and Ryan Fitzpatrick as regional vp for Palm Seashore. B roll - 2024 01 01
01 - This would normally be the sort of dumps I’d throw on Twitter, but I don’t want to be all over the place with social media any more - so you guys get the joy of my daily spew. :)
01 - It’s mighty weird when you can’t read your own handwriting.
01 - I once listened to the fourth movement of Beethoven’s 9th symphony 13 times in a row on a single day.
01 - “The wound is the place where the light gets in.” Often attributed to Rumi, though there’s much debate about that. Still an impacting thought, whoever said it.
01 - Hot art tip of the day: If you’re colouring something and you’re not sure what colour you want to make it, put a clear sticky note over it and colour that. If you don’t like it, remove the sticky, put another im place, and try again until you find what you like.
01 - Maker idea of the day: You can make bookmarks/tabs for cheap by attaching ribbon to paper clips.
01 - Sometimes when I watch Veronica Mars and scenes when the Fitzpatrick family come on, I’m reminded of reading about the Black Donnellys in grade eight. I wish I could remember what book it was we had. I always thought that was a bit of an odd thing to give to kids that age to read - but The Stone Angel was even weirder a choice.
01 - I’ve just come up with a great name for a microblogging service that could be added into a larger service like Tumblr - B roll. For short things, like one would tweet were one not opposed to using Twitter to do such things.
01 - I wonder if the oddest conversation I’ve ever had with myself was when I wondered, briefly, whether the bladder was a bag or a sponge.
01 - I want a lava lamp.
01 - Watching Arabs do various version of dabke makes my knees hurt just looking at it. Ouchie.
01 - One of my uncles used to like the movie “Montenegro”, which they used to frequently show on late-night TV. For all the times I’d call him to tell him I’d seen it in the TV guide, I’ve never actually watched it.
01 - I wonder if anyone’s ever written any Veronica Mars fanfic involving Duncan’s daughter coming back to town.
01 - Creativity’s a funny thing. The more you do it, the more you do.
01 - When confronted with an online troll, responding to them with surreal sentences translated into French is most enrichingly entertaining.
01 - What TikTok gave me in 2023 (and earlier):
Saxsquatch
Four guys in animal masks playing popular songs with boom whackers
life moments acted out by crocheted frogs
Mr. Bones, a tiny skeleton and his quilting adventures
Dock Olympics
Buckets the Drummer
bapkat
Blast from the past (pre-2008)
I was looking up a quote on Google just now to ensure that it actually is from Oscar Wilde. The quote being: Nothing can cure the soul but the senses. Now Google, in its infinite wisdom and attempts to help, thought that I had perhaps spelled the quote wrong, so it gave me the following as an alternative: Nothing can cause the soul but the senses. Interesting twist, no?

grey cloud lullaby
Tumblr media
Veronica needs water to fall asleep. When she was a little younger, maybe eleven or twelve, she used to feel like she could sleep if she could hear her mother’s long showers in the bathroom besides her bedroom. But that doesn’t work anymore. It’s like her brain got used to the sound. She likes to sleep with a glass of water on her nightstand, too, but it’s like it’s only there as a good luck charm. Sometimes, when she wakes up parched after a nightmare, she turns to that glass of water. But it’s filled with dust and sometimes, almost inexplicably, brown elastic bands for her ponytails. Far from relaxing.
Around eighth and ninth grade, she used to love the sound of thunderstorms outside her window. She likes to pretend she’s spooning whoever her crush is at the moment (usually the six-foot-six senior boy who likes to stand in front of her locker and “block” her from getting into it at the end of the day). At any other time, Veronica is terrified of thunderstorms, thanks to a particularly nasty one toward the end of third grade. Back then, there was flooding in the streets and an almost turquoise sky over Manhattan. She was terrified she’d never see her family again. The afternoon ended with the storm letting up and her stepfather, Sean, picking her up from school and taking her for chicken tenders. They played “Flaming Pie” in the restaurant, and Sean sang all the words to her with perfect accuracy. She smiles even now, thinking about how Sean took that scary day and made something beautiful out of it. No wonder he’s always been Mom’s best friend. No wonder she got wise and married him. Their tenth anniversary is this year.
But Veronica can’t always count on showers, glasses, or thunderstorms in the night. Mom recommends one of those white noise apps – one with a rain sound. So, that’s what Veronica does. And most nights, it works.
Some nights, she’ll be awake no matter what she does.
Tonight, she’s wide awake thinking about her dad. She went to dinner with him tonight, like she always does on Sundays. They had a decent time, like they always do, but he kept checking his phone. He said he needed to make sure Cal didn’t need him. When Dad has dinner with Veronica, Cal has dinner with Carrie. It’s like a custody agreement, except none of the people involved are Veronica’s own mother. She sighs. No one asks to be born, but if they did, Veronica’s not sure she would have chosen this.
She turns her head and sees the shadowy outline of an old picture of her and Mom. Veronica must only be about six months old in the picture. Mom looks both exhausted and ecstatic, and Veronica knows.
If she’d asked to be born, she’d do it like this all over again, so long as it means being born to Elenore O’Connor.
She closes her eyes and tries not to think about Dad – his ticks, his peeves, his silences. She tries to think about the good parts of their talk. The part about Billie Holiday comes to mind. Veronica’s just getting into the blues, and Dad couldn’t be prouder. It would have been nice to see this much enthusiasm from Dad when she won that essay contest last year, but hell, Veronica will take his pride whenever and wherever she can get it. She knows he doesn’t check his phone for messages from her when he’s out splitting a burger with Cal.
She closes her eyes tighter and listens to the white noise app. It’s like a grey cloud lullaby, only it’s not putting her to sleep. It’s just making her think about Dad, and he’s the last person she needs to think about right now. In the morning, she has school. She wants to focus all of her energy on what she needs to learn. If Dad gets in the middle of that, it’ll all be for naught. Veronica just knows it.
She thinks about the talk she had with Sean about Hemingway and Fitzgerald when she got home tonight … how Sean is so nice, he can’t help himself from defending Hemingway, even if he doesn’t actually like him, either. It makes her laugh … makes her whole body feel calm.
Before she knows it, she’s asleep.
Before she knows it, she’s forgotten about dinner with Dad.

You know what would've been cool? A Veronica Mars spin-off focusing on the Fitzpatricks.
Maybe with Molly as the lead, just your average girl torn between loyalty to her criminal family and trying to have a life of her own.
