🌞Solstice print🌞 I sat at my kitchen table last night, listened to River Whyless, and carved this little beauty. It was a lovely way to welcome in the winter and the return to light. She embraces the sun with her tattooed and scarred arms, surrounded by the elements, and holds her vision and wisdom close to her center. We are again in complete awe of the talent and creativity of the artists and poets in our community! We review every one of the nearly 200 works that were submitted. Four jurists —with widely different tastes & backgrounds— have so far selected the top 40 or so pieces, and two other jurists have contributed their input. We’re looking specifically for how a piece communicates the Spark! idea, visually and/or in words— and we always wish we had room for them all! We are now wandering around the museum with colorful printouts and poems, looking at empty wall space and asking ourselves, “do these pieces work together? How about displaying them here? Or here? 🌬 Electroforming ✨ The beginning steps of this process that blends both science and art are always fun. I sit with the crystals and they attract design elements, forming their own personalities. Pictured here are Brazilian crystals of Topaz, Ametrine, and Amethyst. These sacred stones are not from a gem show nor a rock shop but rather were hand selected by me from my partner Gina’s personal collection. She is my wise mentor and she has crystal mines in Brazil, a linage going back in her family for generations. I feel so grateful to be creating art in this particular way that I do. The words thank you to my community, clients, and supporters never feels big enough to express my love. I gaze beneath the wash of white-gray-blue

over shapes that might be much-tumbled glass, 

wrecked bladder wrack, a drifting twig,

and fall into August mornings long, long past,

perched on eons-worn, sun-warmed granite,

watching periwinkles rough and smooth, dog whelks,

sometimes limpets, sometimes sea stars or urchins,

all searching for food in tide-flooded crevices

before the water’s rough return forces them to cling

to the closest surface and wait for the turbulence to clear.
