"Vergil seeks power because he doesn't want to be weak" and "Vergil seeks power for it's own sake" aren't all that contradictory. He doesn't want to do anything with his power, he just wants to have it and feel safe. And his need to feel safe isn't unwarranted, but at the end of the day that's all it's about.

I think I’m honestly pretty tolerant when it comes to characters, especially ones people dislike or find annoying but I decided to play dmc: devil may cry out of curiosity and so far I really don’t like this iteration of vergil

#I can tolerate this dante even tho I get why he (and the game as a whole) is disliked #but this vergil isn’t doing it for me #I think a big thing about vergil is that I love his voice and this vergil has such a generic voice whereas og vergil has a very distinct #voice. also the characterization thus far #vergil is such an anime villain type of character is suits him well
