From a person living in Venezuela right now...
I haven't used tumblr for venting since I was around 16 years old and needed the distraction from everything going on and the rumble in my stomach.
Yeah, things got better, but they also got worse, so many people left, and started sending in money from overseas, that we had more resources available, but still, managed to learn to live in fear, to work around every single dehumanizing thing that happened and kept living.
Us youngsters, learned to ignore, to numb ourselves to the news, to not see the horrid things happening, to pretend we didn't care that minimum wage is 3.6 usd and just keep looking for ways to help our family up. Why? They were starving, patronizing and straight up killing us. Bullet to the brain of kids.
I, myself, remember a time when I was deep in depression and ptsd I got from being exploited at a job I was no longer working at, and not having a dime as a family for christmas dinner; you see, when almost every day is outrageously unbearable, days like Christmas or your birthday are things you can convince yourself to remain alive for. Then, all of a sudden I made a connection on Twitter and someone commissioned me, and thanks to that, we had a Christmas dinner that year.
To live like that for ELEVEN, ELEVEN YEARS, is devastating, it drains everything out of you, not having human rights, and not being allowed to raise your voice.
So if you see venezuelans asking for exposure, please help.
If you see venezuelans asking for donations, if it is within your capability, please help, if not, please share.
I, myself, have open commissions, my workplace is closed due to the civil war and I'm currently paid by the hour (so, not getting paid rn), so it's appreciated.
Thank you so much if you read my vent, but even more if you help venezuelans out spreading information.

Since I’m not seeing many posts about what’s happening in Venezuela, I will make one myself. Please do not turn a blind eye to their ongoing crisis.
First I will put you into context, please note that all this information is taken from posts, threads and statements made by Venezuelans so I will hyperlink each one of my sources.
From 2002 to 2013, Hugo Chávez was the president of Venezuela. Not only did he ruin the country’s economy, imprison people and remove liberty of speech in the country, but he also changed the constitution, allowing unlimited reelection. His regime became a dictatorship disguised as a democracy. Here’s an entire page about this period. (And you can read more searching “chavismo”)
After his death in 2013, Nicolás Maduro took the presidency. Venezuelans started protesting and, as a response, they were repressed and killed, universities were burned down and Venezuela became massively poor, people lacked basic needs (supermarkets were empty, increasing famine and malnutrition), hospitals lacked resources and, consequently, illnesses spread and infant mortality rates increased severely.
This Sunday, July 28th, 2024, elections were held and Venezuelans voted for Edmundo González to be the next president of the country. Exit polls expected him to win the elections.
Later, the revealed results were that Maduro had won with the 51,2% votes, while Edmundo González had only 44,2%. But, as of right now, already 75% of the electoral records confirm that Edmundo González was, in fact, the chosen candidate, meaning that Maduro once again cheated on the elections. This is electoral fraud. This is not a democracy, this is a dictatorship.
Now, Venezuelans are protesting and the government are once again repressing them. Civilians are being persecuted, attacked and killed. Innocent people are being arrested. The government is cutting their communication and are planning on cutting the electricity next.
I urge you to check this thread on Twitter by @/postmortemria. Her account is full of information about Venezuela and their crisis, please check her posts and share them to spread the voice. Try to raise Venezuelans’ voices and donate to them if you can.
At the moment, there aren’t many ways to help other than speaking up, but under this tweet you can find many talented artists and commissions are their way to make some money to pay for basic human needs. If you can, think about commissioning a piece or donating to them.
In addition, here’s another tweet with information to donate to the people affected in the protests. They’re in desperate need of assistance so anything can help.

It is heartbreaking what just happened in Venezuela with the elections, especially with having to read people's opinions who obviously have never actually listened to Venezuelans or Venezuelans who are not connected to the government.
There were Venezuelans coming back after escaping the country just to vote, people getting rid of their fear to vote, my great-grandmother who needs aid to move went out to vote, all my family back home voted, and people all across the country went out to vote.
Some were not allowed, the military kept them out, and the military closed some voting boots, the law in Venezuela dictates that boots that still have people waiting to vote must wait for all to vote and then close, the law dictates that people are allowed to be on the room while the votes are being counted. None of that happened, boots with nobody waited to close past hour while boots with people were being closed, and people were not allowed in the room even though they were asking and demanding their right to be there.
People are protesting and risking their lives both yesterday and today, because the elections were rigged, and everyone in Venezuela is tired from their bullshit.
Please, please, please, don't say that the Venezuelan people chose Maduro, don't support whatever they say, even if they said they support Palestine, do you really want the support of someone who has destroyed their own country? ignore the needs and wants of their people? force people out of the country because there is no electricity, food, or medicine? I don't care where you fall on the political spectrum, THIS IS WRONG.
As a Venezuelan, I am crying and heartbreak for what just happened.

"Tiniest bit of research," yeah, if you fucking ignore the amount of Venezuelan people who had been SCREAMING what the fuck is actually going on.
It never stops blowing my mind how these people would say they "care" about a country, but would ignore literally EVERYONE from said country telling them they are wrong.
"Wahh the opposition," yes, that's at least 70% of the country now, colour me surprise that those are the ones coming after your ass.
Hell, considering the amount of people that had left- it's probably more than 70% of the people now.
I gotta love that wording "Venezuela opposition has literally lynched black people." Do these people have an idea the indescribable amount of people of colour our police and military had killed?
Hell, I remember how at the same time the people of the government criticized the American police for killing black people, venezuelans were bringing up how they do the exact same fucking thing.
But hey, what do I know? It's just my fucking country.

Recordatorio amistoso: EN VENEZUELA LA GENTE ESTÁ DESAPARECIENDO Y MURIENDO POR MILES POR CULPA DEL TRIPLE HIJO PUTA DE NICOLÁS MADURO.
EL DICTADOR SALIÓ REELECTO GRACIAS A UN PROCESO ELECTORAL FRAUDULENTO DONDE APARTE DE ROBARSE LAS URNAS SE IMPIDIÓ A LOS VENEZOLANOS EN EL EXTRANJERO EJERCER SU DERECHO AL VOTO, SE CERRARON COLEGIOS ELECTORALES Y SE DISPARÓ A CIVILES PARA DISUADIRLOS DE VOTAR. LA AGENCIA CARTER CONFIRMÓ EL FRAUDE EL DÍA DE AYER Y AHORA LA GENTE ESTÁ SALIENDO EN MASA A DEFENDER SU LIBERTAD A PESAR DEL HAMBRE, LA ENFERMEDAD, LOS DISPAROS, LAS DESAPARICIONES, LA TORTURA, EL SUFRIMIENTO Y LA MUERTE
POR FAVOR SE NECESITA DAR DIFUSIÓN PARA QUE EL MUNDO SEPA QUE NADIE QUIERE A NICOLÁS MADURO EN EL PODER Y QUE ESTÁ IMPONIÉNDOSE CON FUEGO, VIOLENCIA Y MÁS MUERTE, DIFUNDIR QUE MADURO ES UN TIRANO
——————-
Friendly reminder: IN VENEZUELA PEOPLE ARE DISAPPEARING AND DYING FOR THOUSANDS BECAUSE OF THAT NICOLÁS MADURO BASTARD.
THE DICTATOR WAS RE-ELECTED THANKS TO A FRAUDULENT ELECTORAL PROCESS WHERE, APART FROM STEALING THE BALLOTS, VENEZUELANS ABROAD WERE PREVENTED FROM EXERCISING THEIR RIGHT TO VOTE, POLLING STATIONS WERE CLOSED AND CIVILIANS WERE SHOT TO DISSUADE THEM FROM VOTING. THE CARTER AGENCY CONFIRMED THE FRAUD YESTERDAY AND NOW PEOPLE ARE GOING OUT EN MASSE TO DEFEND THEIR FREEDOM DESPITE HUNGER, ILLNESS, SHOOTING, DISAPPEARANCES, TORTURE, SUFFERING AND DEATH
PLEASE, IT IS NECESSARY TO SPREAD THE WORD SO THAT THE WORLD KNOWS THAT NO ONE WANTS NICOLÁS MADURO IN POWER AND THAT HE IS IMPOSING HIMSELF WITH FIRE, VIOLENCE AND MORE DEATH, SPREAD THAT MADURO IS A TYRANT

It’s the thirst for violence that is so extreme that freaks me out
Like I have never thought this way not once and everyone I know would find this appalling and bizarre
But then there are people out there who think it’s correct to kill anyone who they perceive to be “not American”

Genuinely disgusting how some USAmericans are supporting Maduro JUST because he supports Palestine. I want a free Palestine too but guys this is a dictator who has the blood of his people on his hands. You can't just side with anyone who has the same opinion as you.

USAmericans forgetting there is video proof of military coercing people to vote for maduro during the voting rounds and also forgetting clear data manipulation of the voting results. because he claims himself to be a socialist and is therefore ‘good’ in the eyes of tumblr users. lol

For anyone who doesn't know what's been going on in Venezuela, the country has been under the rule by a man, Maduro, and his party for years now since about 2013.
Tumblr media
Since then the country and its people have been under distress.
He and his party control the country with terror and fear, and have stayed in power despite the people hoping for change during voting times and this year is no different.

Maduro has said that if he loses the election of this year, there will be blood, threatening his own people's lives after having them go through hell despite them wanting a better change.
Again, I don't know how many people know about all of what's going on, but I wanted to ask if people could please share to let others be aware about what's going in Venezuela too.
