I should have taken a picture but I just got an absolutely amazing lemon poppy seed bun from the bakery in a nearby village and genuinely it is one of the nicest things I’ve ever had. The bread was somewhere between a croissant and brioche. I could try for 50 years and I don’t think I could make anything quite that perfect. I’m half convinced they have a fae baker because it’s just that good. Magic has to be involved. I also picked up a rosemary and sea salt focaccia to go with dinner and a cinnamon bun for my sister in law because she loves this place, but they’re almost always sold out of those when she goes on the weekend.

the only good thing america has ever done has been opening my eyes to the overwhelming diversity of the sandwich world

haven't been able to cook something rlly good or eat my favorite foods in the way that I like them recently and it's doing horrors for my mental health. I would honestly settle for Kraft mac n cheese and dino nuggies rn (I don't like Kraft brand mac n cheese and much prefer homemade but that's ridiculously expensive and dino nuggies are fine I guess but I prefer something crisper like popcorn chicken or McDonald's nuggets)

something that on the surface really isn't a problem but is secretly annoying is how I can totally fixate on one meal and make it for like, weeks on end and it'll fit into my life SO WELL and then suddenly boom I'll drop it like a hot potato and won't eat it again. it doesn't happen for all foods but it's happened to a fair handful

you don’t HAVE to eat a meal of any set size isn’t that so thrilling holy shit.......it can be small if you want.......or big........depending on how you feel today......

I dunno man. I found out today that a subway sandwich is $14 now. A shitty subway footlong sandwich that isn't actually 12 inches long and is occasionally made with expired ingredients and was never a great option to start with. I ate those in high school because I was broke and at the mall a lot.
There are poke bowls in my city from a local place for $16. Super fresh fish and veg, warm rice, more than I can eat in one sitting, for the price of a sandwich and a drink at america's most mid-tier sandwich shop.
Someone in another post said (paraphrased) you used to be able to get something mediocre for cheap, but now the mediocre things cost as much as the nice things so why would you?

fucked up how nice lunchmeat is considering it's carcinogenic. also fucked up that all the money in the world can't buy me non-carcinogenic slices of lunchmeat. when did that even start. what were we doing before. i need thin pieces of meat that will stay good in a fridge for a week. or honestly i wouldn't mind putting frozen slices on my sandwich if it's thin enough. that could be fun. i just need some nice thin meat that won't significantly increase my likelihood of certain cancers.
