Dec. 2 - What is Emmett's favorite board game or card game? How has he modified it to be more challenging?

After all these years, it's still Monopoly. It gets the family shouting and grabbing and coming up with elaborate ways to draw attention away from the fact that they just landed on Boardwalk with five hotels and a condominium on it.

The game has expanded over the years in a Risk-esque design. The regular Monopoly board is only Atlantic City, NJ; there's a whole world of cities out there! So he's always adding new boards and ways for the property ownership to be more fluid. The stock market makes the property values fluctuate and there are multiple bankers who can set their own mortgage terms. The Community Chest and Chance cards go beyond the exchange of money and have ventured into Cards Against Immortality territory.

Emmett threatened recently to bolt the board to the floor since so many family members have thrown them across the room in frustration. Longest game so far: four and a half years, and that ended only because Jasper killed someone and they had to move. So now the running joke is that if you're losing and you want the game to end, the obvious solution is to kill someone. (This joke is usually made whenever Carlisle and Esme are absent, but not always.)

random thought but there was once this couple in my junior year biology class who were really sweet towards each other & always laughing with/teasing one another and i honestly couldn't tell if they were a couple or really good best friends (until they confirmed they were a couple later on lmao). and that's honestly the goal for all my fictional ships/hope for my irl serious relationships tbh

Arcane Trickster was a prestige class when it was first introduced (meaning a high level class you had to unlock which was designed to compliment/specialise character build, in this case one meant to tie the abilities of two classes together = rogue and mage). As well as the rogue requirements you needed 6 levels of wizard or sorcerer, or 7 of bard (mage hand was also a requisite).

And now I'm wondering: if we ported BG3 back to 3.5e ruleset and kept the default subclasses, what arcane class is Astarion using? I feel like it's wizard (hates studying, but will do it if he has to/with sufficient bribery), but sorcerer without the charisma to go far, or bard not in the mood to bard (although he does have the melodrama) could work.

i'm about to say something so controversial yet so stupid

which is that something that i really love about the way Interview with the Vampire is doing its storytelling is the combination of the historic story and the modern day story, working in tandem. even in season 1 (but more pronounced this season), it's not just the story louis is telling daniel, it's also the story of louis telling his story to daniel. both sides of this story are working to develop the themes and create a complete arc

which is a huge part of what i loved about Assassin's Creed at first, and i absolutely hate that gamebros only ever cared about the historic side of the story and that ubisoft practically nixed the modern day story

AC1 and AC3 really honed in on how to tell a satisfying narrative across two timelines (AC3 probably moreso, which is part of why it remains my favorite title), but white gamebros were mad their historic white sexboi got replaced by a kind indigenous man so AC3 gets remembered as a bad game despite the fact that almost no game since then has even bothered to engage with the series' original theme. the Assassins Creed movie came out and 'fans' were pissed it even had a modern day aspect at all. there was a bunch of tie-in media revolving around the larger modern day plotline, and that's all but dried up at this point in favor of various historic fiction

i love that IWTV is taking very seriously the play between the modern day and the past, but its also probably much easier to do when you've got a single team working towards a shared creative goal. a AAA gaming corporation splitting multiple teams towards the goal of 'make us moar money' is really never going achieve that narrative finesse, but it's so frustrating, to me, that they started there and just quickly abandoned it

two episodes into s2 and ofmd has officially reached 4th place in total number of cries this year, overtaking both 'the raven cycle' and 'work' (a tough one to beat!)

next target is 'animals' for 3rd place, which I truly don't think will be a problem at this rate

Everyone's like "oh inzoi is gonna make everyone forget about the sims" and tbh...

I don't enjoy the hyper realism. I don't like the idea of actually working a job in the game. Sims has a level of fantasy and absurdism that I feel like life sims need to be, y'know. Fun.

I have zero interest in playing a life sim that's ACTUALLY like real life. Like if I had to play a game that was like the past year of my life I'd uninstall it so fast.

It'll be interesting to see how long it's staying power is.

Ok ok ok ok see this is my thing about Rollo, his story says "his loyalty is as fleeting as the moon's phases" and yet he stays. In Macabria, as our warden? Like obviously he's not getting great jobs in Macabria as evidenced by his masquerade encounter

People are legitimately paying him with pieces of torn paper and yet he's still here? I can only think of three reasons: 1) the LP is paying him REALLY GOOD, 2) either Runa or Ragnor (depending on who you romance) is in love with the LP and he's staying for them because he's a good pack leader <3, or 3) HE has a massive crush on the Lord Protector and is staying on as their warden to get close to them.

Now I think 1 and 2 are probably the subtext that you're meant to glean from the game. However this is my house and I have decided it's 3. Like idk maybe it's because I found him hot to begin with but his "Howl you doing" line just sounds so flirty to me

Idk anymore, his large arms and stupid jokes have just captivated me
