Just as human beings are not traditionally built for sipping blood, Dracula and his vampire roommates are modified by their condition to have the pointy chompers required for blood sippery. Any animal Dracula turns into would have the same ability! 

As Dracula seems to prefer B I G nocturnal beasties--ala the big dog wolf that leapt off the Demeter--it’s feasible that he opted for the larger fuzzier fruit-and-nectar-loving bat shape above (who are much beefier and more puppy-eyed than the classic vampire bat only native to Mexico, Central America, and South America) for his travel and tasting purposes. 

Or, tl; dr:

had dracula stayed a bat, i personally would have let him in even if i knew full well doing so would result in my death

Hampire is both the name of the album and this song. Are you scared of hamsters? Of course not...Are you scared of vampire hamsters though? I mean who the fuck isn't? I'll include a pic of the little psycho princess because I love her. I drove 4 hours to rescue her from a small cage situation and you're god damn right she's now on my album cover. Such a lovely, bitey spirit. I have no idea how old she is, but she is now immortalized like the proper Hampire she is. Long live Princess Cheesecake and her harrowing reign of terror!

There's a main plot line with time travel.

They regularly use space travel.

Overall, they use (and create) technology slightly more advanced than what we have today.

Doesn't that make it sci-fi?

Edit: Actually I just looked it up, according to Wikipedia it's science fantasy. Which is pretty accurate. I just never thought about it before.
