I know the post says to put it in the tags but I ramble way too much to do that, this is just who I am, I'm sorry (not sorry).

My first thought with rarepairs is always Voidstrike (Wraith/Bangalore from Apex Legends) because they are my favorite darling blorbos that I love to smoosh together. But that ship has a whopping 141 fics for it (12 of which are mine) which is significantly more than any of my rarest rare pairs. I do like to point out that I was the first person to write and Voidstrike fics because that is a fun fact :)

The next one I think of is Yasamin Madrani/Valentina Romanyszyn from gen:LOCK because I have a special place in my heart for military hate-fucking haters-turned-lovers type pairings. I only ever wrote/finished/posted one fic of them but there's only ten total. Which, considering how that show was kind of a flop, is a bit more than I would've expected them to have.

But now we're really into the rare shit. Y'all ever watched the anime Double Decker? No? Don't worry, no one else did either. Except for me. So I wrote two fics of Maxine Silverstone/Yuri Fujishiro. Only one other person on planet Earth has a brain big enough to write for them. The wild thing is it's a butch blond on a motorcycle and her robot girlfriend and they're fucking canon and somehow people still have no taste.

This rarity of this next one does not surprise me because it feels like no one else on Earth has heard of the anime Tatakae!! Iczer-1 so the fact that there is one fic not written by me for Nagisa/Iczer-1 is pretty surprising. They're the dang protagonists and they have a whole two fics about them. I also wrote something for Cobalt/Sepia, the antagonists, but no one else has dared to ship it. I assume it's a good ship because my taste is immaculate but I barely remember this show to say if it's actually any good or not.

I, apparently, wrote the one and only fic of Pacifica Casull/Winia Chester from Scrapped Princess. I do not remember writing this or what it is about. I don't think I even remember the show, to be honest.

The next one is one that I am so desperate for more but it seems it'll never happen. Friends at the Table (an actual play podcast) has a relatively active fandom/community around it, it's got just over 2,000 total works on ao3 and there's tons of fanart around online. And yet. I am the only one who has shipped Chanti Park/Thresher. I just think the superhero with bird telepathy and the buff shark-woman villain should go on secret lil dates and try to figure out how to kiss when one of them has a big shark mouth.

And finally, probably my rarest rare pair, is Asuka Tsuchimiya/Yu Tounaka from The Girl in Twilight anime because I wrote one single fic for them and it is the only fic for the entire show. It's a good show and it's secret canonically gay and people should watch is and maybe even write some good gay fanfic for it idk.

There's also a part of me that is like "sure, there's lots of fics shipping Commander Shepard with Liara but no one else writes my Commander Shepard so isn't that kind of a rarepair in it's own way? Things like Mass Effect or Dragon Age or the Pathfinder games have lots of fic of the player character but do any of them really write it the same way as I've written mine? I don't think I have the juice to really make a strong argument to claim that FemShep/Liara, a ship with nearly 2k fics, is actually technically a rarepair.

Sputnik was the first Soviet satellite. Yuri Gagarin was sent into space on Vostok 1 (“East”) and Valentina Tereshkova on Vostok 6 in the 1960s. The rockets which carried people after that were and are Soyuz (“Union”).

The first American sattelite was Explorer 1, followed by the Mercury series (still pretentious) with Alan Shepard aboard Freedom 7 and then John Glenn on Friendship 6 in the 1960s. Then the Apollo missions, also 1960s. Then the space shuttles in the 1980s

Love the contrast between the Americans’ “Apollo” and the Soviets’ “Sputnik.” You got the Americans naming their rocket after a Greek god trying to communicate the grandness and importance of this rocket. And you got the Soviets naming their rocket “fellow traveler.” Like a friend you go on an  adventure with together. This rocket is our little friend lol
