Hi, yes, hello, um, I have a question, please help...

Sooo... My Dove mask needs big pink hippie lenses, I have pink sunglasses at home, but the lenses of it are too small... I think they need to be 62MM, at the very least, to be able to look through (Though, I don’t mind if they’re bigger). Problem is, my costume has to be finished by the 3rd of August, since, I’ve got a festival to go to.

My boyfriend wanted the main focus to be on his mask and since his mask is steampunk-themed, with orange, brown and yellow colours, I kept the rest of the costume extremely minimalistic, with just black fabric gloves and a black cloak, long enough to make it look like he is floating.

𝓟𝔩𝔞𝔤𝔲𝔢𝔠𝔬𝔯𝔢 𝔉𝔞𝔰𝔥𝔦𝔬𝔫: Basics

𝔗here is no set “rule” or “standard” plaguecore fashion. As long as you feel comfortable wearing what you like and you feel good in it (and you feel good wearing it with your mask!) then that is what is most important.

𝔗his is a somewhat a combination of what I wear that I consider thematically “plaguecore” plus what I feel translates the classic plague doctor look into a modern perspective.

𝔗his is not intended to a guide on creating a plague doctor costume/outfit, though it could help if you’re not going for exact historical or “accepted” accuracy. This is just a fun list of suggestions to incorporate elements of the aesthetic into your everyday wardrobe if it is something that would interest you or make you happy. I will probably make more thorough posts covering each category over time (and some additional details and accessories), so stay tuned.

I made a Plague Doctor mask for my boyfriend and am planning to make one for myself and a friend soon too. I made the mask out of packaging foam, Velpon glue, (Glue that stays stretchy and breathable when dry) fabric, Paverpol (A paint-like substance put on fabric that, when dry, turns hard like leather) and spray paint. I got the cloak at my local costume store and attached a Plague Doctor Squishable to the shoulder with Velcro tape.

To all the plague doctors where did you get your outfits????

The Squishable wouldn’t stay on as well as I would’ve wanted (He’s chonkier than I’d expected), so, sorry if he looks depressed.

aside from that, my boyfriend forgot to bring his gloves, however, did say that the gloves were the best part of the entire outfit and that he had worn them all day at IKEA.

The outfit could use some tweaking here and there, but he was happy with it, so overall, I’d say the project was a success!

Hi, first post here!

My boyfriend’s birthday is next Saturday, he’s crazy about all kinds of masks, SCPs, steampunk, cosplay, and festivals/cons in that genre, so, I made a steampunk-ish plague doctor mask, I also ordered a plague doctor Squishable, (Which unfortunately hasn’t arrived yet) and am going to the costume store soon to buy a cloak, once I get the cloak, I will add Velcro tape to one of the shoulders and the bottom of the Squishable, so the little guy can sit on his shoulder. The mask is made out of leftover packaging foam and covered over with Paverpol (A paint-like substance that hardens foam to make it feel like leather) My brother helped with making it since he has lots of stuff lying around that can be used for masks, and also does a better spray painting job than I ever could. I’ll post modelling pictures when we’ve got the entire costume and maybe I’ll make one for myself as well so we can pose together!
