Bruh, and you find them in the parts where they were perched and sat upon on the surface. I would be both incredibly happy as it answers the big question of where the fuck they went, but it would also be heartbreaking as fuck.
And I love it.

What if you could find the Divine Beasts in the Depths?
You’re in this dark, alien environment, strange noises echoing around you, the inescapable anxiety your only companion. Squinting in the distance, you see a frighteningly familiar shade of blue flicker, faint in the distance.
Cautiously moving forward, you begin to realise the blue belongs to something much, much larger than a possible guardian. Eventually, an ancient behemoth looms overhead, still, silent, and empty, both at rest and unnervingly calm. A strange, restless melancholy replaces the sense of creeping dread, no less uneasy than before.
Entering the resting stone, in the corner of your eyes, you see movement flicker. At first you think a spirit, perhaps the Champions still linger… but deep down you know they’ve passed on… right?
Echoing footsteps fill the silence as you press on, avoiding gloom where there had once been malice, a desecration of a sacred resting place. You see the flicker again, turn on your foot and see for a split second, a beloved friend, an uneasy rival, a stalwart protector, a steadfast leader, an ally, a painful reminder of your worst failure. Even now, years later, it stings.
You try to get their attention, but there is no response. Instead, you watch. And realise. And mourn again. There are no spirits here. Not in the vast, decaying depths, not in the final resting places of a final hope.
These are echoes of the ones you knew. You can see them in the corner of your eyes sometimes, going about preparations for that ill-fated battle. It’s eerie, made no better by the Grand Poes gently swaying, their locations random but making uncomfortable sense.
Sometimes, on unlucky days, it is not preparations that these echoes go through. Pain torn screams faintly heard as their final moments are played out, a play on an eerie stage.
Vah Medoh groans in the dark, as the image of her pilot slams limply on her back, wing torn, and struggles to get up, defiance in his glare even now.
Vah Ruta cries a warning, as her pilot slumps over the controls, never seeing her killer, her last thought to warn the others.
Vah Rudania braces herself, as the echo of her pilot does the same, but the shield shatters, a flash of phantom heat coating the area, followed by darkness.
Vah Nabooris strides steady, until her pilot, fatigued from a relentless assualt, makes one fatal misstep in her final dance, lightning crackling in the air.
The stone beasts are restless, aware of the new threat, and unable to let go of the last pilots they’ll ever have, desperately trying to fight once more. But instead, they lay still, silent, a monument to their pilots lost to time.
What if you could find the Divine Beasts in the Depths?

Although he still refuses to go far into the desert, Ganon has found himself back in the Canyon. Making use of old scaffolding and excavation sites from decades ago, when the Shiekah worked with locals and Hylians to dig out the Divine Beast Vah Nabooris, Ganon had made a small camp along the ridges. And while he occasionally drew the attention of monsters, he had drawn the attention of a small desert cat -
- a very young, very hungry desert cat; a kitten, really. Ganon had spent hours gaining the little thing's trust, offering food, water, and shade of the tent he'd set up. Night was falling before the kitten finally settled against his chest, sated with seared meat, purring away as he gently stroked her rusty red and brown-striped fur.
"You will be needing a name, ki'tavi. So affectionate now that you're fed." Gsnon kept his voice soft so as not to wake the kitten. "I will give you a good name. As soon as I think of one."

Prompt: Five Champions Chilling in a Hot Tub Very Close Together Because the Shrine of Resurrection Is Only So Big
Where the pilots of the Divine Beasts were ejected from the beasts as they fell to the Blights attacks and their people found them dying and for X reason had found out about the Shrine of Resurrection and took their Champion there only to discover all the others had the same idea. They decide to place all five in the shrine. It's barely enough to cover them but they make it work, and then all they got to do is wait...
Does it still "only" take 100 years or does it take longer?
What sort of clothing did they leave for the other champions? Do the other even get any clothes or is it only Link and Urbosa that get "new" clothes?
How will the remaining Champions handle the complete memory loss?
When/how do they regain their memories, if they do?
What about their powers? Will they have to reactive them somehow or is it rediscovered by muscle memory etc?
Do they get more than one paraglider?
If they only get one, how will they get down from the Great Platau? Will they try to climb? Will they craft their own? Send down Daruk and have him dig out the blocked part where water have collected? Something else?
How will the reunions with their people/family look like? Will there be people who are sceptic to believe they are who they say?
If any of the Age of Calamity plot is included:
Assuming Kogha and the Yiga have turned against Ganon like in AoC after having their own killed/severly wounded by the Calamity, what have the Yiga been up to the last 100 years?
Will Kogha have snuck in a dying Sooga into the shrine too after he got hurt by a Guardian/malice/etc?
How will an amnesiac Yiga handle recovering memories of trying to kill his companions? Is his first memory triggered by bananas or by meeting Yiga spies? Or is it something else? Maybe Link or Urbosa (the two he would've fought the most) handing him a fruit in a similar way to how Kogha did when he was starving in the dlc flashback?
How will Kogha handle Sooga not remembering him?
Do they still steal the Thunder Helm? If so, why? Is it to lure the group into their lair to see if they can jog Sooga's memory? Or are they worried Riju would try to go after Vah Nabooris herself and possibly get hurt?

The Biography of One Etaa Buliara
Buliara was born to a military family on both sides. Both of her mothers were in the guard together, as well as their mothers, and the previous generation before them. As the eldest of her current generation, having two sisters several years apart, she was often put in the position of being the model example for the younger two. She took to her studies like a madwoman, and both of her mothers trained her from the moment she could be trusted to hold a weapon.
This strain on her became more trying as the three siblings grew older, with the two younger siblings expressing strong interest in doing anything besides the family business. Buliara, often in the middle of these disputes, did her best to set an even better example for her sisters, to show how honorable and desirable the position was, even if she didn't know if she believed in it herself. The ever-present threat of the Calamity didn't help either. There was talk that the new chieftain would not only continue mandatory training for all able-bodied citizens, but that there would be required military time in the guard. As militaristic as the Gerudo appear from the outside, few supported this measure as the first few years of a Gerudo's young life typically determined the rest of it, alongside the threat of tanking their slowly recovering economy. The Chief never followed through with these measures, though Buliara did enter the guard when she came of age.
She quickly rose through the ranks, propelled both by her family's reputation and her true skill with many types of weaponry and tactics. By the time she was twenty-five, she was already second General, and before she'd turned thirty she was commander of all Gerudo forces.
Her joy at reaching her goal was not to last, though. Her birth mother passed away before she could see her eldest's accomplishments, and her stepmother joined her soon after. Both her sisters had left the capitol, either for other towns or to roam the world on their own. They seldom wrote to her, though she tried to keep tabs on them through her information network. Worst of all, in an attempt to reroute the rogue Divine Beast Vah Nabooris, the chieftain had been slain in battle, leaving her daughter as Gerudo Town's only ruling force. As the chieftain had passed without a partner, Buliara was left in charge both of steering the nation in the right direction until the little chieftain was able to pilot them herself, as well as raising Riju for the throne.
Though she had never had children of her own, Buliara quickly took to raising Riju while balancing her responsibilities as best as she could. She would never call herself Riju's mother out loud, out of respect for the dead, but to her mind, Riju was the daughter she never had. Even outside of professional duty, she did everything in her power to keep the little chieftain safe.
When Riju came of ruling majority at the tender age of eight, Buliara remained as one of her closest confidants and advisors. Nothing short of Riju's own word would separate the two. Buliara devotes all her energy into protecting the chieftain and the town, leaving as little time for herself as possible. Even after the Calamity was defeated and the dust settled, she couldn't help but believe that there was something else in the distance. Something worse that would befall the desert and threaten the world once more.

spectacle in general i just feel is very important to 3D zelda. i am here in part to see very cool shit in 3D. like as much as i bitch and moan about them i will admit that vah nabooris was really cool to see walking around. and it was cool seeing bits of the beast move in real time as i ran around. the big main issue with the beasts is that the aesthetic had grown stale and that they just weren't very satisfying puzzle boxes.
and like when i think about what separates the 3D games from their top down counterparts one of the big things i keep coming back to is shit like looking down into the night sky in the reversed stone tower temple or shit like seeing a desert shift into a vibrant ocean as i sail around in lanaryu. there are other important aspects, yes, but like one of the things that makes them stand out to me over the top down games is that they simply have a lot of really cool visuals. i like 3D zelda more than top down zelda despite thinking that oracle of ages is the best the series ever got on a puzzle standpoint simply because i get to see really cool shit.

// What are some of her favorite places to visit? Does she have a fond memory associated with those places?
Tumblr media
"Gerudo Town was always a favorite - Mother would take me with her when she'd visit Urbosa and, after my mother's death, visiting became a rare treat for me until Urbosa became Vah Nabooris' pilot. i have a lot of fond memories there from my childhood. Learning the language, how to dance, how to sing. Mother wanted Urbosa's battalion to teach me to fight, but Father was against it."
"Even now, after all has changed, I still love going there. Chief Riju has much of Urbosa's spirit and I enjoy spending time with her as I would with Urbosa. She's becoming a dear friend to me."
"I also enjoy visiting Kakariko. Impa may be much older, but she is still my dearest and best friend."

"Lady Nabooru?" Link gave a small frown, bringing his Zonai hand up to his chin in thought. He'd heard of the woman, from Urbosa and Riju - the legendary Gerudo for whom Vah Nabooris had been named. Was he really that far in the past? "No, that's not her."
The name sent a shock of alarm through Link and he stepped back. That name was more than just familiar. "Ganon." He resisted the urge to reach for his sword - he needed to know more before he did anything rash. Where was the Hero of this time? Why did Link end up here? Should he do anything at all or would it ruin his predecessor's destiny?
All he could do was hold his hand out in greeting for now. "Link Ardenson," he introduced himself. "I was not aware we had a new envoy. I've been on leave for some time."
Tumblr media
"You speak of lady Nabooru." ha, lady. As if a lady who drinks like that... ah well, the title of lady was useless. And over rated. "My replacement for when matters from the desert become overwhelming. but now they are not and she is at home."
"You speak to Ganondorf Dragmire."

First of all this is an adorable name for Vah Nabooris and second of all I didn't know the divine beasts had genders but it's surprising the divine beast of the Gerudo, named after Nabooru, is male.

Under the cut because this is long:
Okay, so basically, in Breath of the Wild you play as Link and you wake up in a mysterious chamber after being asleep for 100 years. Once you get out, you’re treated to a shot with Link on a hill and the title screen, which reminds you of exactly the 300-hour adventure you signed up for. You see this old guy sitting by a fire, the only non-monster non-animal on the entire plateau. He tells you to go activate the Great Plateau Tower, which unlocks your map for that particular area (as do all the other towers). When you climb down, you see the old man gliding down to you with his paraglider. He tells you you can have it and get down from the Plateau if you complete the Oman Au Shrine. The Shrine gives you the Magnesis rune, which lets you manipulate metal objects from a distance. When you finish the Shrine, Oman Au, the monk who built it, will give you a Spirit Orb. When you leave the Shrine, Old Man refuses to give you the paraglider, the lying bastard. You now have to do every other Shrine on the Plateau. The other runes include: Cryonis, which lets you make solid, climbable pillars of ice on any sufficiently wide body of water; Remote Bombs, which lets you summon up to two bombs which you can detonate on command; and Stasis, which lets you briefly pause time on any object. When you do the last Shrine, Old Man tells you to meet him at the Temple of Time. You pray to the Hylia statue that’s there and ask for either another heart or one fifth of another stamina wheel. Old Man reveals himself to be someone really important in the game's history (no spoilers), finally gives you the paraglider, and you can finally explore Hyrule all you want.
But Old Man told you to go meet Impa in Kakariko village first. Impa tells you that you have to defeat the four Divine Beasts, Vah Ruta, Vah Medoh, Vah Rudania, and Vah Nabooris.
Hey, Andrea. I realized that we’ve been mutuals for almost a year now, but we’ve never really talked much. So I just wanted to say hello and ask how are you?

Do you have any particular headcannons about your au au ancient trio? 👀
I remember you saying Zelda and Ganon would be business partners while Link works his food truck, but I'd love to know if you have any more thoughts on their backgrounds and dynamics! 🙏
Im so sorry this took 5 million years! my brain has been mush 🙈
Zelda
-CEO(in training) some company related to politics/gov??
-Taking after her Father shes learning the way of the company, although a bit reluctantly.
-Impa is training her and basically is running it all behind the scenes since Zelda is a bit irresponsible at times and gets tunnel vision (thank you saviour Impa)
-She is very stylish but isnt afraid to mess up her outfit, take off her heels, roll up her sleeves etc.
-still a bit immature and not taking everything as serious as she maybe should but she is very intelligent and smart just struggles to focus on her job.
-impa usually would bring her food but work was really getting her frustrated one day so she went for a walk outside and found Links food truck, and now frequents it as often as she can...because the food is some of the best shes had....and a cute chef to boot.
-She brought Ganon there as soon as she could!
-she tries to get links number once but was to embarassed but the next day when she went to get food at the truck she finds his number on the inside of the lid
Link
-Local Food Truck Employee ( Farosh Eats or something like that)
-he's in charge of the one that frequents that business area; his family owns a few of them
-they probably serve some mediteranian type food. Comforting but fresh and refreshing too.
-his sister comes by to help part time or is sometimes found nearby doing homework
-Sometimes hes found napping on the job when its slow but usually wakes up as soon as someone approaches.
-link memorizes everyones orders
-gives zelda and ganon (and others!) extra treats since he knows they work so hard especially when he knows theyve had a hard day
-makes food so skillfully it looks like magic and it tastes delicious (wielding those utensils like some kind of weapon)
Ganondorf
-CEO ( maybe an electric company like vah nabooris related or gov/politics)
-works close and deals with zeldas fathers company in some capacity.
-took it upon himself to mentor zelda sometimes, especially since they've known eachother since they were young. He wants to see her succeed and do better than her father. who he thinks is running the country/business into the ground
-when working there is no funny business but as soon as its break time he can switch off.
-he takes on a ton of work and gets a bit annoyed at his coworkers (the other gerudo) who try to help him and maybe baby him sometimes and his mother who calls him constantly. he loves them dearly though.
-Loves the coffee link makes and that the food isnt super greasy.
-tips link and others generously
-no hair out of place, he looks very polished
-has his set routine and doesnt like to deviate to much but he will for his loved ones
Alternate Modern Au: Mcdonalds
(an excerpt from my friend)
the 3 of them are on Night shift duty together consistently. Night shift cause it’s quiet and you know they’d try to fill the time but could be day shift for the rowdy customers they get. You can chose who is shift manager but I pegged Link as level headed enough to be promoted and the other two are like cook and cashier. The AU is told through the lens of Zelda’s instagram posts of all the shit they get up to or even all 3 of their instas reflecting their personality in regards to what stunt they pull? Could even customize the uniform to their styles too?
link and zelda could do tiktoks and ganon just shakes his head and they joke that hes an old man
zelda wants to fight asshole customers
Some rough ideas at least! thank you for asking 💞

29. Favourite item to use (aside from the sword & shield)?
I already answered this in question 10... although I'll also give a nod to the Ocarina of Time for being so flexible in its abilities, as well as satisfying for someone with a bit of musical aptitude.
30. Favourite title theme from a Zelda game?
Oh boy... OoT is a classic, maybe the most iconic, but I also have to shout out to Spirit Tracks and Wind Waker and Majora's Mask and...
31. Hardest dungeon played?
Ugh god I think it's gonna have to be either Vah Ruta or Vah Nabooris (BotW), both of which I had to check the guide for 😭 Usually I relish a challenging dungeon but I think my brain shuts down a little bit at the sight of mechanical things. Oh that reminds me also GREAT BAY TEMPLE (Majora's Mask) was also hell the first time, but now on replays I think I understand what to do well enough.
32. Game with the best map design?
Uh can't really beat Breath of the Wild for this one. Just brilliant at how the devs had a system to determine hotspots (or neglected spots) and how they should put a reward or something else interesting there.

Battle for the Sky
Link x GN!Sheikah!Reader
Part 4 of Memories of You
Prev | Next
Summary: Link and Y/n are called to Rito Village when a dark beast has taken over Vah Medoh and Y/n’s biggest fear finally comes to light.
AN: I finally finished this part. May have gone a touch overboard with this one it’s like 2500 words. I just had a lot of fun writing the battle and the characters. Its got a lot of fighting and mayybe a teensy bit of angst. I rlly like Revali so I had to feature him. bit of gore so just a warning
regular= present    italic= memory
Link stood atop Revali’s Landing, eyes closed as he enjoyed the cool breeze. There was so much to do before he could save Zelda, but after having to sneak through the Yiga hideout and his fight to free Vah Nabooris he relished this quiet moment. Even if it was only a few minutes under the light of the moon, he would take the time to think.
So many memories were coming back in a jumbled mess. Like pouring the pieces of a puzzle out of the box. But he hadn’t been given the full picture yet. So much of who he was was in those few precious moments he had with his friends, all he wanted was to have that back. At the very least he wished to remember those he had lost 100 years ago when calamity struck.
And yet, a part of him almost didn’t want to remember. The more he recalled his friends, the more he was reminded that because of his failures they had been lost. Trapped within their Divine Beasts with no escape for 100 years. Forced to watch as the very things they were supposed to use for protection wreaked havoc across their beloved homes. Maybe Revali had been right about him not being up to the task.
Revali.
The last time he had come to the Rito Village had been for a monster attack on Vah Medoh too hadn’t it.
“Impressive, I know.”
Revali hovered softly before landing on the railing. A smirk stretched across his beak as he looked down at Link. Although this level of bravado was normal for the Rito warrior, Link suspected he was playing up his capabilities in response to their presence.
“Very few can achieve mastery of the sky.” So this was how the trip would be then. “Yet I have made an art of creating an updraft that allows me to soar. It’s considered to be quite the masterpiece of aerial techniques, even among the Rito”
At this point Link was discreetly looking for Y/n. They had said something about asking the village chief for the key to Medoh before running off and leaving him alone. He was sure that they had done this to avoid Revali’s complaints. Still, Link wished they would hurry and save him. Revali responded better when they were present. Or at least, he was more capable of tolerating Link with Y/n around to deflect conflicts.
“Now then,” Revali hopped down from his perch, drawing Link’s attention back to him, “my ability to explore the firmament is certainly of note, but let’s not- pardon me for being so blunt- let’s not forget that I am the most skilled archer of all the Rito. Yet despite these truths, it seems that I have been tapped to merely assist you. All because you happen to have that little darkness- sealing sword on your back.”
Link looked down with a clenched jaw. Hylia he wished Y/n would come save him.
“There you are!” He felt a breath escape him at Y/n’s call. There was only so much of the Rito warrior’s ego one could put up with.
Y/n skipped over to stand beside Link and gave the two Champions a grin, “I got Medoh’s key from the chief so if the two of you are ready, we should head up.”
Recali scoffed at the smaller Sheikah, waving his wing in a dismissive manner, “There’s no such need for the two of you to board Medoh. As a matter of fact your presence here is quite redundant, so why don’t you run along back to the princess like the good little hero’s you are.”
Link stepped forward to stop Revali from taking off but was stopped by Y/n placing a hand on his arm. “If you’re flying off to the archery range to get in more practice you can meet us back here. We’re fully prepared to wait until you feel ready.”
“Excuse me?”
“The chief told me you haven’t been able to enter Medoh for nearly a week due to this monster.”
“I assure you I can kill it on my own.”
Y/n sighed, reaching out to carefully lay a hand on Revali’s wing. “We only want to help. There’s no shame in working alongside your comrades. Besides, consider it a favour from us for your future help in defeating Ganon.”
“I suppose, I have no choice.” The Rito warrior hardly looked pleased with them forcing his hand, er, wing. The feathers on his neck were ruffled up as the trio looked tensely at the flying beast above. “I’m sure that even if I were to fly off at this moment, the two of you would still go on up to Vah Medoh and end up getting thrown over the sides.”
Y/n let out a nervous laugh at his snide remark and Link found himself wondering if the tightness in their voice was due to Revali being correct in his assumptions… or maybe something else.
------
Link and Y/n appeared on top of Vah Medoh in a swirl of blue light. They were swiftly met by Revali pushing them to stay hidden. He was quick to explain the winged beast, how it crawled across Medoh with sprawling legs. Y/n had mused about winged octopi only to be flicked on the head by Revali.
As the trio emerged from their hiding spot the two Hylians found Revali had not given nearly enough detail on the horrific creature. It was as large as he had described, with muscled legs sprawling across the wings of the Divine Beast. Its body resembled a Lynel, thick arms ending in sharp claws. Possibly the most terrifying thing were the wings sprouting from its back. They were dark and feathered, each one dripping with malice that ran down its body before piling across the ground like muddy footprints.
Link heard Y/n draw in a sharp breath as they crept along the edge in their approach. He reached out to place a hand between their shoulder blades, a simple motion they had developed in their journeys to signal they were with the other. Whether in physical danger or an uncomfortable situation, they would handle things together. He wasn’t sure how much comfort he could offer at this moment, but he’d make due with the promise to be by their side. Even if he was worried about the feeling of their shallow breaths against his hand.
After carefully making their way to the center terminal of the Divine Beast, Revali gave a quick signal before crouching to take off. As the wind picked up around the Rito, Y/n took in a breath before squeezing Link’s wrist and darting out from their hiding spot.
“HEY SLIMEBALL!!”
Apparently that was extremely offensive to the beast because as soon as it located the small Sheikah it tore off after them. Y/n sprinted away sending a wink as they passed the terminal and Link. Y/n reached the first pillar and slid to a stop behind it right in time to take cover from the bomb arrows exploding against the creature's torso. Mangled wings came up to protect the beast from further blasts giving Link the opportunity to lunge forward and strike down its legs. He managed to slash through two of the muscular appendages before the creature let out a screech and spread its wings, and with them, an attack of razor sharp feathers.
Y/n had come out from their spot behind the pillar, luckily just in time to slash a feather in half before it could hit Link. The duo exchanged grins before taking off to continue their plan. Y/n would lead the beast away with their faster speeds while Revali would circle above, waiting for the moment when the Sheikah would twist the monster around pillars where he could strike it with a volley of bomb arrows. Then while it wrapped itself in its wings for protection, Link would unleash a flurry rush, slashing away at its legs until they disappeared in a haze of dark smoke.
They pulled off their barrage of attacks until the final leg dissipated giving it one option.
To fly.
Fortunately, they had planned for this, and Revali struck the creature before it could get far. It crashed to the ground with such a force, it shook the entire Divine Beast in the sky. Y/n let out a scream as they lost their balance, reaching out to grab the pillar they stood beside. He knew he had a goal to complete but, as he slashed away at the fallen creature, all Link could think about was how he wanted to rush to his friend's side.
The creature seemed to sense Link’s hesitation because it began to spasm, forcing Link to jump back. It seized the moment and took off into the skies screeching as Revali circled too close.
“We must finish this quickly!” Revali dove closer to the two champions, being mindful of the writhing beast in the skies. “That thing is getting desperate, and I only have so many arrows left.”
Link gave him a terse nod as he rushed over to Y/n who was still pressed against the pillar.
“Y/n.” Only a small hum escaped them, although there was a comfort in the way they leaned into his touch. “Y/n, I don't know what’s going on in your head right now, but we need you. Revali’s almost out of arrows and I don’t think I can take it down alone.”
Their hand curled around his, shaky but tight. “I’m okay.” He was sure neither of them believed the grin that pulled at their lips. “Its wings are the only thing it has left to attack with, right? Keep its attention and I’ll take them out.”
“Are you sure?”
“I have to be.”
He nodded, although his expression betrayed his concern, something Y/n took note of. They smiled softly, albeit weakly, and out their forehead against his. “Relax Hero, we can do this.”
Link sighed softly, pressing his head against theirs with a little more force. They pulled away sharing nervous grins before Link took off.
Fortunately, the beast had been distracted by launching feathers at Revali, who had been swooping around it with practised expertise. Link gave a shout to signal he was ready for Revali to shoot down the monster and, with an audible scoff, the Rito notched his arrows.
With a thunderous crash the beast landed on Medoh once again and, fighting the urge to look back at Y/n, Link rushed forward with his sword drawn. Link slashed and chopped away at the creature's muscular arms, trying to force it to spread its wings. It took longer than he had hoped for with far too many close calls before wings spread, throwing sludge along with it. If it weren’t for the glint off Y/n’s twin blades, Link almost wouldn’t have seen the young Sheikah sprint past. Before the monster could register their presence, Y/n had hopped from its arm, up to the shoulder, and flipped over to land on its back.
What came next was a flurry of silver blades and the tearing of malice dripping flesh. The monster attempted to rear back and reach Y/n with its arms but it was stopped by Revali and Link each attacking an arm, preventing it from being able to knock off their partner.
With a final flourish, Y/n thrust both blades between the beast's wings. A harrowing shriek escaped the beast as it trembled from the blow. The malice surrounding it began to bubble and swell up. With a grunt, Y/n placed a foot against its back and tore their blades free. They looked up at Link with a grin but, just as they opened their mouth to shout, the monster exploded.
The moment Link uncovered his face, he was met with the sight of Y/n sliding off the edge of Vah Medoh. Link took off as fast as he could, watching as they scrambled for a grip along the edges but came up with nothing. Link hit the ground, sliding towards them with an outstretched hand. The two made eye contact and Link’s heart twisted at the terror within their ruby eyes. He felt their fingertips touch before Y/n was gone, their desperate cry as they slid over the edge carrying across the wind.
Link stared at his empty hand. He would have thrown himself over the edge after Y/n had he not seen the flash of blue following Revali as he shot after the Sheikah like an arrow from his bow.
The moments Link lay there waiting for Revali to return were spent forcing himself to breath while his lungs were crushed under the weight of guilt. He could still feel his fingertips brushing against Y/n’s. See the expression of fear that had torn the grin from their face as they cried out.
Wind swirled around Link, forcing him to sit up as Revali soared past him. The Rito landed on Medoh and, in a surprisingly tender moment, laid a wing upon the Sheikah warrior clinging to him like a koala.
Link was quick to approach the two, getting a glimpse of the way Y/n’s brow furrowed as they hid their face in Revali’s feathered chest. Noticing the way Link watched the two, Revali scoffed before grabbing at Y/n’s arms. “You’re not falling anymore, you can stop tugging at my feathers.”
Y/n mumbled an apology as they shakily detached themselves and stepped to the ground. They managed a wobbly grin that was interrupted by Link crashing into them. Y/n let out the faintest sob as they buried themselves deeper into his arms. Link tightened his grip, carefully pressing his nose into their hair. The two heroes held each other tightly, hoping to ground themselves in the other. To remind themselves that they were together still.
“Ahem.” The bubble popped around the two heroes as Revali looked on in barely hidden irritation. He tapped his talons against Medoh, sighing as the two looked at him with wide eyes. “As wonderful as it is that we are all, in fact, alive. I would appreciate it if you could use whatever it is you brought to seal away that creature.”
“Right.” Y/n stepped towards the terminal, Link’s hand still held tightly in their own. They pulled a seal from one of their pouches before mumbling a few phrases. Deep violet tendrils of malice swirled around, collecting in front of Y/n. The seal they held began to glow blue, spreading its own tendrils of light outwards. The lights seemed to dance through the air around them. Gathering together until they spiraled into the paper seal in Y/n’s hands.
“That should be it. Now can we please get off this bird?”
“I couldn’t agree more.”
