Beat Suikoden 1. Definitely not as good as its immediate sequel but still really impressive for what it was, with a handful of pretty good characters and a decent story. The Soul Eater Rune as a concept was A+, but the actual storytelling made the big emotional beats surrounding it a little less effective than the equivalent twists and turns in later games.
#ignore me#Tyto plays Suikoden#mostly enjoyed it as a look into the origins of all the beloved characters and worldbuilding I'm familiar with from later in the series#Viktor and Flik and Futch and Tengaar and Hix... honestly they were the highlights of the game#the exception being dear dear Gremio of course#[25-YEAR-OLD SPOILER ALERT!!!]-------------------------#his death really did shock me and I was in such denial about it that I had to look up if I'd done something wrong#unfortunately the walkthrough I was following spoiled the ending for me instead of just saying ''this is supposed to happen'' but#at least then I was able to keep going and GET the good ending and hhhhuhghh look at the pair of them setting off into the unknown...#as with the rest of the game's story I wish Gremio being like a dad to Tir (in place of his mostly-absent military father?) was#elaborated on more than in just a single brief cutscene and his general worrywart vibe#it's undeniably a theme that is PRESENT but oof they could have kicked the emotional impact of both his death and return up several notches#I will say that I adore the fact it's not textually explained to you that the Soul Eater is getting more powerful as people close to Tir die#because even though I'd sort of already gleaned that from wiki-skimming about the True Runes weeks ago I still had a moment of#''.... oh.'' when I got to the duel with Teo and realized that the spells had been unlocking after someone important to Tir died in his arms#(metaphorically. ykwim.)#anyway yeah then there's just kind of a sudden Deus Ex Machina in the form of Leknaat yanking Gremio out of the past(???) and like. cool#he gets like two lines of dialogue after coming back and no one hugs him or ANYTHING and while I'm glad he lives it's still... wanting#anyway now all that's left to do is find a way to watch a LP of the Suikogaiden games for those juicy scenes of Jowy when he was on his own#(and Jillia and Luca and others but let's be real mostly Jowy)

Dear Asexual-Deesasters,
Mod Edgeworth:
If you want to know the answer to that question, go to this link.
Dear Skibot99,
Co-Mod: I’m fairly certain it was The Mod, but I don’t know for sure. He actually had another one before it, made from an old Ace Attorney musical animation. I haven’t been able to locate that video, unfortunately, but here’s the old banner:
Ah... Those were good days. Good days.
Dear Dawsongfg,
Co-Mod: It’s fine. Besides, it won’t be too long before those letters are accepted, so maybe we’ll hold onto them until that time.
Dear skibot99 again,
Mod Edgeworth: The Lost Turnabout hands down. All logic is thrown out the window the moment Phoenix had amnesia. It’s clear the Judge knew something was wrong with Phoenix, so why didn’t he call for a recess or check on Phoenix? Not to mention Wellington was annoying. He’s probably the only character I would be hesitant to play as when answering letters, if only because he was so unbearable.
As for Turnabout Ablaze, I do agree that it is a drag to get through in the end, though the entire game of AAI was boring, aside from the game mechanics. As a case by itself, I wouldn’t put it as my least favorite, if only because I did get some funny parts out of it. It also contributed to the overall story, whereas The Lost Turnabout could just be taken out and it wouldn’t effect the overarching plot.
Co-Mod: I’d probably have to go with Turnabout Big Top. I honestly couldn’t figure out the part where you have to present Max’s poster without consulting a walkthrough. Why couldn’t we just present Max himself? Besides that, the ending was largely underwhelming -- the murder weapon was hidden under Acro’s blanket the entire time, but instead of seeing a screenshot of it there, we just have to imagine it. Maybe it was a filler case, but that was no excuse for it to end so poorly. Not to mention one of the witnesses was a literal puppet.
It’s hard truth, Trilo. Live with it.
Dear skibot99 and Anonymous,
Mod Edgeworth: I… think I heard from her when the localization of DGS was announced? I know Mod Kristoph and Mod Maya introduced themselves when I came into the group. There’s a third person, but I only heard from her once. As for what’s going on with her… I don’t know.
As for the flooding the inbox, it’s fine. I won’t promise a letter or two won’t be deleted, but we may make an exception and I’d hardly consider 4-5 different letters flooding the inbox. However, I do highly suggest lowering your letter sending to no more than three a day to prevent deletion of your letters. The only time I’d say your letters are flooding the inbox is when you’re sending 10-20 of them, especially of the same letter, and we have to scroll down for a while to get to the next letter. We will only choose three out of that pile and delete the rest.
And yes, we do have a few that send us 10-20 of the same letter to multiple characters in the span of five minutes. Geez.
Co-Mod: Mod Paups has had to remain absent for personal reasons, and sadly, has recently communicated to me that she wishes to leave the blog entirely. Thanks for all you’ve contributed to this blog, Mod Paups, and best of luck in whatever you do next!
(Referenced Letter)
Dear mungeondaster,
Mod Edgeworth: Since I answered this one, I shall answer your letter.
(^ Why do I always use this sprite? ^) Actually, the localization never specified if Manfred Von Karma was born in Germany or not. In fact, we never knew the German part until Justice For All when Franziska Von Karma was stated to have flown all the way from Germany. It never specifies any reason for this and fans were quick to jump to the conclusion that it means the Von Karma family were German, which… isn’t entirely true? Manfred Von Karma never said he lived in Germany and, for all we know, Franziska could’ve lived in Germany to study law or something.
Now, the OG does give us more specific detail on this, being why I answered this the way I did. In the OG, both Von Karma’s were born Japanese, but lived in America or at least have an estate there. It specified that they were originally born in Japan, which would be translated to LA, California in the localization. While using the OG canon isn’t normal here, I will use it, if the localization doesn’t specify things. In this case, it never specified if the Von Karma’s were born in Germany or if Manfred Von Karma lived in America. Since he had to wait out the Statue of Limitations for DL-6, we can assume he lived in LA for 15 years or more. That means he’s American.
I am still getting the hang of writing letters, but I try to stick to canon as much as possible. If you believe we’ve made an error in our letters, feel free to let us know, but also show proof, if we go against canon. We’ll be sure the letter is sent to the right mod or else fix it.
Dear Bluedragoncody,
Mod Edgeworth: I... don’t know how to feel about that.
Also, I accidentally deleted your previous letter before this one when trying to post it on here. I’m so sorry about that. If you could remember it, would you send it again?
Co-Mod: I’ll just respond to this with an old classic:
Dear Aceattorneyismyjam,
Mod Edgeworth: I-I’m not a pro! I accidentally deleted an important mod question from bluedragoncody, because of my inexperience. Oof! Again, so sorry!
Granted, I am good with digital art and writing essays, but I’m still trying to get the hang of being a mod here. Believe me, I do get corrected on several mistakes I do here. I can’t really call myself a pro just yet. I’ve only just started becoming a mod here last month lol
Dear Dahlia,
Mod Edgeworth: I thank you for your support of this blog and my essay. Manfred Von Karma is also my favorite villain and someone I do feel is underestimated as a one dimensional villain. I think people hate him so much, because of how he ruined Miles Edgeworth’s life without looking at the bigger picture. They focus on the bad things with their black colored glasses without dissecting Manfred Von Karma’s character as a whole.
One thing I love about this blog, even before becoming a mod, is that no one here ever portrayed Manfred Von Karma as the one dimensional villain. He can be snappy at times, but as proven in many of our previous letters, he’s also portrayed as being calm when threatened, polite at times and absolutely loves his wife and children. Yes, he’s a terrible person, but that’s what makes him so interesting. He’s a bad, evil person that does good things from time to time. It doesn’t justify any of his horrible deeds, murder included, but it does make him human.
Co-Mod: I’m...going to assume you’re a different Dahlia. (I’m grabbing a Magatama of Parting just in case, though. I’m sure you can understand.)
Anyway, thanks for being such a loyal follower! This blog’s been through a lot of changes since it began, and since I joined it back in 2017, so I’m glad it’s still a good source of enjoyment for you. I’ve seen all sorts of cringe by now, by the way (some of which I wrote myself), so don’t worry about it.
I’m also glad that the characters still sound like themselves and not like us. The hilarious personalities and quirks given to them by Capcom’s writers, as well as the humanity in so many of them, make them easy to relate to, and thus fairly easy to mimic. I may have said something like this before, but I see myself in a lot of them -- in Athena’s fear of inadequacy, in Apollo’s desire for justice in a world where it’s hard to find, in Sebastian’s confusion about where to go next after his world falls apart, and possibly even in the von Karmas’ desire for perfection. I of course identify with their positive feelings as well -- Phoenix’s smugness when he gets things right, Athena’s joy after pulling off a victory in court, Adrian’s pride after her self-confidence is restored, etc. -- but there’s something about the struggles they face that make them easier to relate to, on top of being that much more awesome in the end.
Unfortunately, I can’t promise anything about this blog continuing on in perpetuity. For one thing, I don’t plan on being around forever (I’m fairly certain the other Mods don’t, either), and for that matter, there’s also no telling how long Tumblr will be around. All I can promise is that I’ll give my best while I’m here, and that the love from you and everyone else who shares it here is sure to be what keeps us going. Thank you for your contribution!
Dear TurqouiseJavelin,
Mod Edgeworth: Hm... not bad ideas. Though, we mods choose our own mod names under the condition that it doesn’t match anyone else’s mod name.
Co-Mod: What Mod Edgeworth said. Choosing the name “Mod Athena” may or may not increase your chances of being hired, though. *wink, wink*
Dear Anonymous,
Mod Edgeworth: Actually, Gregory was stated in the Autopsy to have died by a gunshot. However, you do bring up something interesting. If Gregory Edgeworth realized he was dead and last remembered Robert Hammond strangling him, he wouldn’t think “I died by the shot of a gun.” Since the Detectives weren’t aware that victim had died unconscious, they’d assume the victim would recall being shot and killed. This makes me wonder if Gregory Edgeworth was channeled, but never brought to court to be cross-examined.
There are still holes, but I do like your aspect on DL-6.
Co-Mod: Dang... No matter how many times you come back to this game, there’s always something new to think about. I honestly hadn’t considered those details about Yanni Yogi’s trial. Your explanation makes the most sense to me, but there’s one other possibility regarding Gregory’s testimony -- he may have chosen to lie about who murdered him in order to protect his son from a murder charge. That’s all open to interpretation, of course, so your guess is as good as ours.
It’s a good thing we’re not actual defense attorneys, huh?

REVIEW: BURIED STARS ☆
came across this korean mystery vn and i knew i had to get it bc someone commented that it had a similar feel to danganronpa/zero escape O: seems like i have a type
i usually don’t prefer to get digital copies of games but there was really no choice... i heard the physical copy is sold out in korea and resales are going for 200 USD ain’t nobody got money for that
i don’t think anyone i know is gonna purchase this game and play for themselves and i can’t share the game either bc it’s a digital copy sooo i’m gonna write a review~ please enjoy!!
basically the plot goes as such: the survival reality tv show Buried Stars was about to commence the finals of its current season with the remaining five contestants when the building suddenly collapses. most of the audience and staff members were safely evacuated except for seven ppl (the five contestants and two staff members) who are trapped in the wreckage with just their smartwatches that connects them to the outside world via calls (problematic bc they can only call a restricted number of ppl and the signal inside is shit) and phater (bootleg twitter). after trying to make some calls, everyone was then told that the rescue team would take around six hours to break into the collapsed building to get them out.
ok so they just have to wait it out... in an unstable building that can come down at any moment. cool.
then!!! they find the producer’s dead body, seemingly a victim to the falling debris!! they’re down to six survivors now.
despite the circumstances, voting is still ongoing and some rando on phater claims that the contestant in the last place will die as if the atmosphere wasn’t bad enough.
this is your smartwatch interface!! most of the functions are pretty useless with regards to the actual gameplay but it’s just fun to play around with them i guess
for e.g. you can change the background and ringtone but they don’t affect anything
there’s this feature that keeps track of changes that occur when you pick certain conversation topics during communication rounds and it’s really useful for replays!! too bad it doesn’t keep track of sanity changes in mc
this is the mc!! even though he looks like he would be a tsundere punk he’s actually very soft?? kinda like saihara but with a bit more spine
AND THIS IS MY BEST BOI GYU-HYUK
i lowkey ship them bc of their interactions alsjdkasjs jUST LOOK AT THIS
i was expecting there to be a lot of mysteries but given the circumstances i guess it makes sense to not have that many... there’s no murder mystery if it happened in an accident site and looked like an accident you see
a lot of conversation topics focus on the character’s backstory and stuff so you get to learn more about the characters while waiting for rescue (one of the goals of this game is actually to collect characters’ profiles!)
bonding through a shared traumatic experience sounds reasonable
did i mention that the cutscenes are fully voiced (either in korean or japanese depending on your preference)?? i played it in korean for my first gameplay for ~Optimal Experience~ but i switched to japanese in subsequent plays bc i wanted to be able to understand what the characters were saying without reading the text
the only thing that throws me off is that characters are given japanese names in the japanese dub but the in-game text still uses their korean names??? why
my boi gyu-hyuk is voiced by takuya eguchi and hyesung is voiced by shimono hiro (i actually doubted my ears at first bc hyesung sounds angry 24/7 and i only know shimono’s derpy zenitsu and troll ouma voices sweats;;) wOW 👍👍👍
the first ending is the same for everyone even if you picked the best options
they call it a “normal end” but tbh it’s a bad end bc everyone dies and nothing is resolved
after you clear the game for the first time you will get to replay from the start but your options will change so you can proceed towards other routes!! yay
oh yeah in case anyone is wondering this game is rated T and bodies are shown in the form of a silhouette with non-explicit close-ups during investigation so if you can’t handle graphic stuff it’s not too bad
warning: from here on there will be spoilers for the true ending and other endings!! stop scrolling if you have even the slightest intention to play the game
.
.
.
.
.
.
collected all the endings after 30ish hours of gameplay!! i wanted to strive for 100% completion in achievements but i’m not sure how to get some stuff... might go back and try other options in the future
in the true route you receive help from this random phater user plughole aND I JUST LOVE THE INTERACTIONS BETWEEN HIM AND DO-YOON LMAO
idk if anyone tried to guess who the real culprit is but it turned out to be
my boi gyu-hyuk......
he had his reasons (not trying to say he did no wrong) and it’s just unfortunate that things turned out this way
while playing, i thought to myself... if there was one person i would glue do-yoon to throughout the entire game it would be gyu-hyuk... bc i was certain he wouldn’t hurt do-yoon
i was right tho... even in some routes where do-yoon catches him in the act, gyu-hyuk didn’t try to silence him
CRYING
i don’t know much about korean law but he has THREE murder charges on him whicH SOUNDS LIKE DEATH SENTENCE
i’m sad bc there’s no way to save my boi even in his best ending
plughole visits you in the hospital in the true ending!! he is also a troll irl it seems
he was kinda sus in the beginning but i really hoped that he was a Good Guy to keep do-yoon sane in the wreckage
and i’m glad he was
do-yoon looks super baby in his hospital clothes
he was not kidding when he said that his actions were bc of his sister (who is a hardcore fan of do-yoon) lmao
aaa the girls are doing great after their treatment!! they visit do-yoon too!!
yeah i also want to know why do-yoon is the only one still hospitalised with all those bandages when everyone else is fine but i guess maybe he got injured when he protected gyu-hyuk from falling debris at the start of the game
...
if you don’t find out the true culprit of the murders gyu-hyuk goes free and he visits you every day in the hospital aND SAYS STUFF LIKE THIS
ugh it hurts me
...
there’s also a joke ending (when you pick the “i’m the attacker” option lmao) which i appreciate a lot!! something to lighten the tense mood is what i crave for in games like this
somehow i feel like it’s even scarier than the usual atmosphere bc of how ooc everyone acts
BUT YOU WANT TO KNOW WHAT’S REALLY SCARY?
there’s a horror route that you can enter by using the “laboratory” conversation topic on everyone and expressing how much it creeps you out
and the entire game shifts in genre to actual horror (like with paranormal activities)
IT WAS REALLY SCARY AND THERE WERE HANDS EVERYWHERE AND EVERYONE WAS ACTING WEIRD ASLJELKASJ i had my eyes closed half the time and i regret playing on my monitor
i didn’t take many screenshots bc as i mentioned my eyes were not looking at the screen for most part but i hope that you can kinda understand where i’m coming from with these two screenshots
...
the game is actually split into two major routes (A and B) which differ in who gets saved and who dies
you can only start on the B route after you get the true ending which is in the A route
unfortunately there is no route where everyone (even if you exclude the producer bc she dies before do-yoon regains consciousness at the start of the game) survives TT
if hyesung and seil survive then gyu-hyuk kills himself and leaves a note but do-yoon tears it up so we don’t know what he wrote
overall a solid mystery vn with beautiful graphics and enough routes to keep you occupied for many hours!! i highly recommend following a walkthrough bc it’s not an easy game if you want to collect all the possible endings and achievements
cuz there are minor changes to the epilogue depending on how close you are with the characters
i actually don’t play a lot of VNs but i feel like all VNs need the route map thingy in AI: the somnium files
my only gripe about this game is prob the derpy translations which usually isn’t a big issue (imo at least) but for a game priced this high?? i expected better
anyway that’s all from me!! thanks for reading til the end hahah i wanted to write a srs review but i just ended up simping for gyu-hyuk

hi! i just started playing choices, and i wanted to hear your opinion on what books are worth spending diamonds for and what books aren't. thank you so much :))
hi there love, welcome to the fandom!! enjoy the circus! it gets rowdy but it’s entertaining– 🤡
i just wanna tell u that my opinion may differ from others so you’re free to seek other opinions too if you deemed my answer unsatisfacory ! so lemme list to u what books are worth to waste diamonds on and which ones are not in my opinion. the ones i might have not mentioned are probably in between or in the middle.
so, for diamond spending, if you’re kinda on the economic budget level of can afford to purchase some-many, then these books are the bomb and would definitely be worth your penny.
i. : bloodbound. pretty ironic huh considering i’m a bloodbound idiot myself. lmao. but it’s worth every penny if u haven’t farmed enough diamonds! also yes you can farm in this app. the reward system is pretty generous once u know how to utilize it. tho some LIs wouldn’t have an immediate diamond option while others have one almost immediately, just weigh whether u need to purchase it or not. the diamond scenes for each LI is equally compelling and incredibly worth it. what i do tho for the most efficient way of spending those ingame currencies is that i don’t buy all outfits. u don’t actually need it. some scenes may suggest but honestly? ive tried having the outfits and not having it and it’s not that much of a difference. i keep the diamonds to spend for important scenes such as the tapestries for back stories and some diamond scenarios that might be informative/entertaining. i’ve bought all diamond options for Adrian so sue me
ii. : the royal romance/heir. same thing with bloodbound. sure, the hair options are majestic. the outfits? have u seen other books release stylish outfits? i personally have not. it’s really magnificent. although sometimes pb milks it, if you’re smart & can live with letting down ur LI for not spending a penny on their vanilla smuts and group gatherings then you’re good to go! just spend it on important pieces of scenes/info that are being paywalled by pb for god knows what reason. trust me, you might be baited but not all diamond options are actually worth it. i love trr/trh don’t get me wrong but this bitch is poor so sure as heck not gonna spend my diamonds like a mad banshee on random shenanigans.
iii. : open heart. dear god. the backbone of all those reused faces in like whatever new book that comes out with pb as of late. jesus. btw the diamond options are worth it! i like to spend diamonds for my LI and some options that are needed by the plot. you’ll know which are those once u get to start the book! i just don’t buy anything related to appearances unless it’s necessary to the plot. pb ain’t gonna bait this broke bitch because if my LI truly loves me they’ll accept me even if i wear a garbage bag
iv. : platinum. okay? where should i begin? because u actually need diamonds in this book? hello? i started this book without spending diamonds and where did that take me? a broken guitar, missed opportunities and slow rising fanbase lmao. so please do yourself a favor, save up and check out walkthroughs on how to survive being a star without spending diamonds like crazy. there are actually various options available but u can check it urself so u will be guided. i made terrible choices with my brokeass here and let’s just not talk about that
v. : it lives anthology ( it lives in the woods & it lives beneath ) anyone who knew my ass will know that i’m so much of a cheapskate that i didn’t spend a single diamond on this godtier book and i survived just fine. u can check walkthroughs but i doubt it’ll be much of a help since most of the critical choices are timed and u need to use 200% of ur brain to survive this mess. lmao. okay not 200% but u get my point. ilitw requires to many diamond options to raise nerves of ur crew but u will be fine if u just spend it on important stuff. BUT SURPRISE BITCH LMAO EVERYTHING IS IMPORTANT OTHERWISE U R DEAD OR UR FRIENDS ARE DEAD LMAO. but in ilitw u can save the maximum survivors by just making all the right choices!
don’t even get me started on ilb. it lives beneath? THE BITCH DIES BENEATH. LIKE HOW THE AUDACITY– i lost a fucking pinky because i was too much of a coward to spend my nonexistent diamonds. like how dare thee! lmao. just... just spend ur diamonds for this for the most critical and crucial circumstances. make the correct choices and then you’re good to live. it also has options on where u don’t need to spend diamonds but still making the correct choices under pressure either by timed or by confusion contributes greatly to this story.
vi. : nightbound. YES. YES PLEASE. nightbound is 100% worth to spend on. have u seen that hair? god i love that ombre color!! also uhhh please buy some weapons for ur own good lmao. and just be wise on where those diamonds are going. i always stick by a rule whenever it comes to spending ingame currencies– don’t buy if it’s not necessary to the plot. just purchase what is important, collect information to unlock scenes at the end and choose ur choices wisely. don’t die.
vii. : the elementalists. now. this book. GDI THIS BOOK. this is freaking diamond book???? whenever u spend ur day with ur LI gosh it will ask for diamonds. ( ily beckett dear but ur gf is a brokeass bitch & i cant always spend time with u picking flowers or hanging out with merpeople /crying obscenely ) there are diamond options here that are more important than the smexy scenes with ur LI. diamond options that will allow u to learn things and get equipments that will be ultra useful for the story and plot. what i love about this book is that it’s so personalized to the point that u might feel u truly r ur mc that’s why u might be compelled to purchase things such as outfits and etc but honestly? i went to the dance with the most lameass garb but still got to enjoy it just the same. but the diamonds you spend to learn new infos and heighten ur power? those are the most worth it tbfh. also some non diamond options are actually good than the diamond ones so enjoy familiarizing the world of brokeass people while playing. that’s just me telling u that since im broke i didnt get to glimpse those diamond options sob
viii. : a courtesan of rome. YOOOOOOO this book is wild lmao! i’m incredibly torn whether to tell u to waste ur diamonds for ur LIs or be frugal and choose wisely. follow ur heart while playing this. i absolutely loved how, even if not wearing the most delightful garbs, ACOR mc still kills it as a courtesan. u know what they say, true beauty shines even in the darkest places or the smarmiest set of clothes. she can wear a guard’s armor and she still be slayin. very pretty. i’m in awe.
ix. : perfect match. more like the perfect way to go broke lmao. honestly a god tier book. spend wisely and watch out for options that will ask u to spend diamonds to contribute to the plot. some options will ask u like honestly the other books so by now you know what to do. stay for the plot. it’s really great. and while u r playing please tell eros they suck. 😌
x. : mother of the year. i beg of you to spend ur diamonds on ur child please they deserve the world.
xi. : desire and decorum. honestly speaking i haven’t done that much diamond spending except for my upcoming wedding in book 3 so yes. same applies with what i said, look out and watch for options that will require u to spend but will provide u juicy information as a result. i haven’t bought a single outfit for my mc. i just bought diamond options for my LI and some for some important info and perhaps a bit of information for investigations.
xii. : ride or die: a bad boy romance. GOD. SPEND THOSE DIAMONDS. SPEND THOSE DIAMONDS 🚨🚨 THIS IS NOT A DRILL I TELL YOU. lmao jk but heyyyy god tier book with worth it purchases ! awesome character designs whispers mona eherm i’ll probably replay to try colt’s route since i’ve honestly only been all about mona for this book but yes. worth the diamonds ! in this book i have spoiled myself and honestly every diamond purchase with the mpc is super duper ultra worth it !
xiii. : books like wishful thinking, veil of secrets, endless summer, the crown and the flame are god tier books that are incredibly worth it for ur diamonds. trust me. tcatf actually has a point system where u can gain in game points and can choose whether to use it or use diamonds for certain options. honestly godtier. endless summer has an interesting way in gaining and losing nerve points and relationship points too! veil of secrets needs ur diamonds for investigation and clue finding and wishful thinking has a very unique premise. everything is worth it.
xiv. : i’m adding the freshman series because /zig ortega/ is worth every penny please and also HSS Class Act and HSS. if you’ve played pb’s highschool story which is a separate app then you’ll enjoy these books.
some books like AME and RCD will require u to spend diamonds for options and might demand it for the plot but i got through everything there and really u can play it without doing so.
honey please don’t spend diamonds for home for the holidays and sunkissed. please. i beg of you. unless u spend diamonds for eliana then fine forgiven but ugh. just please no.
the books i haven’t mentioned like RoE is something i honestly wouldn’t mind with or without spending diamonds. the story is just the same. some are paywalled options. leo’s options are actually interesting since it will shed some light for cordonia but i havent seen pb tackle it directly to the main trr series so idk about that.
others can add some info too to help our dearest friend here so if you must, feel free to jump the ship and add 💞✨
#playchoices#asks#anonymous#idek what im talking about thank u for thinking of me while asking but im honestly a broke bitch idek how to tell u what books r worth it#ive been living frugally and being careful of how i spend this bitch is broke

Somebody’s following them. Somebody curiously familiar.
In the morning they took advantage of the hotel’s free breakfast – which consisted mostly of hard-boiled eggs and ham sandwiches – and then set out for the area where the desk clerk told them they were likely to find Frenchmen. It was on the other side of the Acropolis, which meant either a long walk or a long bus ride. Since it was still early they chose to walk, but they quickly regretted it. Even at nine in the morning the Greek sun was already blazing, and sweat was soon running down Natasha’s back. The Acropolis itself loomed over the city, tall and bald and with the ruined temples protruding from its top like the bones of some enormous dead animals. The giant flag at the south end was entirely still. There was not a breath of wind to carry the perspiration away.
Allen, who was overweight, was fanning himself with a tourist information pamphlet as they climbed a hill. “How did all those old Greeks do it?” he panted. “Didn’t they all wear wool?”
Nat tried to imagine standing on top of the Acropolis, in full sun with no breeze, draped in what was effectively a blanket. It made her feel slightly nauseous. “The ancient Greeks did a lot of opium,” she said.
“That actually kind of makes sense,” said Allen.
“It’s no wonder they were so into sports,” Sam said. “You need to be in Olympics shape just to walk around the damn city.”
In the Keramikos, they started to find businesses with signs in French to cater to the expat community. There they split up, pretending to be poking around in souvenir shops or asking for directions while they scanned the faces in shops and restaurants for Madame Desrosiers. In this manner they made their way a couple of blocks up the street, until Nat found her way into a little café that served French pastries. She took a look around, then went up to speak to the clerk.
“Can I help you?” the man asked, in English.
“I’m looking for a friend,” Nat replied, in French. “She told me she’d be in Athens this fall, and I was hoping I’d run into her.”
The man smiled. “I’m happy to help! We all know each other here. What’s her name?”
“Helene Desrosiers,” said Nat.
The smile vanished, and the clerk shook his head. “I don’t know the name.”
“She doesn’t spend a lot of time here, just occasional visits,” Nat said – if all the French expats knew each other and yet they didn’t know Desrosiers, that seemed a reasonable conclusion. “She’s East Asian by ancestry, but grew up around Paris.”
“No,” said the clerk, sounding worried now. “No, that doesn’t sound familiar.”
Liar, though Nat. They would have to keep an eye on this place. “Thank you anyway,” she said, and switched to English. “While I’m here, I wouldn’t mind a cup of coffee.”
“Of course, Mademoiselle,” said the clerk, relieved.
He was not just a liar, Natasha thought as he brewed some French press coffee for her, he was a bad one. He’d probably already talked to Desrosiers and would talk to her again, as soon as he thought Natasha was gone. What would she do when she learned that they’d followed her.
Something caught her eye, and she glanced over her shoulder. The café was similar to many in Mediterranean countries, a long thin room behind a narrow storefront with a few tiny tables and chairs crammed down one side with the counter on the other. People were sitting and chatting in French, English, and Greek while enjoying their drinks and snacks. Tourists were going through the rack of postcards on the sidewalk outside. And a man with longish brown hair, wearing distressed jeans and a black t-shirt, was loitering next to the rack, hands in his pockets, trying to look casual. Nat couldn’t see his face, but something about his build was familiar. Was that another Barnes?
“Your coffee, Mademoiselle,” said the clerk.
Nat smiled and accepted it. “Merci beaucoup,” she said.
“Enjoy your time in Athens,” the man told her with a return smile.
When Nat turned back to the entrance, the man in the black shirt was gone.
For a moment she was torn. Part of her wanted to go out and see if she could find him – if he was another Barnes, then he might lead them right to Desrosiers or her mysterious Athenian friend. If he wasn’t, however, she’d be wasting her time, and she needed to sneak around the back and eavesdrop on the phone call the clerk was doubtless about to make. She couldn’t do both, but then, she reminded herself, she didn’t have to. She had friends who’d be willing to help.
She dashed to the door – the man in the black t-shirt was now across the street, trying to avoid a peddler who was determined to sell him a hat. Nat took a quick picture of it and sent it to Sharon.
I think it’s another Barnes, she texted. Can you keep an eye on him? I’ve got another lead to follow.
She then bought a big scarf and a pair of sunglasses from the tourist shop next door. With those for a disguise, she slipped back into the café and sat down at the back table with her laptop, pretending to work on something while keeping her eyes and ears on the clerk. He kept serving customers, and while he did take a couple of phone calls, they were business-related. Nat perked up a little when he made a call, but judging by what he said, he was talking to his mother. It seemed highly unlikely that was Madame Desrosiers.
By the middle of the afternoon, the heat and humidity were becoming unbearable. It was cooler in the café, but not by much, and the need to wear the scarf as a disguise wasn’t helping at all. Nat could feel sweat soaking right through the thin fabric. The clerk didn’t seem to have recognized her, and Sharon and the others hadn’t been able to find the possible Barnes or any sign of Madame Desrosiers.
It was time to give up for the day. They chose the Acropolis Museum as a place where they could do a little sightseeing without being boiled alive, and there Natasha made good on her promise to tell Sir Stephen about the Elgin marbles.
“The originals are in the British Museum,” she said, as they wandered through a gallery where the plaster replicas were on display in the same configuration as they would have been on the temple itself, “and the Greeks have been angry about it for two hundred years.”
“How did they get there?” asked Sir Stephen.
“Lord Elgin stole them,” said Sam.
“So I gathered,” Sir Stephen said, “but there must be more of a story to it than that.”
Everybody looked at Natasha, and she shrugged. “There are a couple of versions of the story, but what seems to have happened is that he got a license from the government to take casts of them for preservation, then instead he bribed the port authorities to let him ship the originals back to Britain. Ostensibly his excuse was that he didn’t want them to be broken up for lime by the Turkish army, which was occupying Athens at the time. He originally intended to use them to decorate his new house, but he ran out of money and ended up selling them to the British government.”
“Stole them,” Sam repeated with a nod.
“Just like Nicolas Desrosiers stole Princess Sitamun,” Nat agreed.
“And they tried to give the princess back to the Egyptians, but only so that Madame Desrosiers could not have her,” Sir Stephen observed. “Whereas this marble they’re determined to keep?”
“Yep,” said Nat. “Apparently they’re ‘part of the cultural history of all western nations’ or something.”
Sir Stephen nodded thoughtfully. “This man Elgin – would you call him an archaeologist?”
“Absolutely not,” said Nat.
“Is that not what archaeologists do?” he insisted. “Take the treasures of the past and put them in museums, far away from the people who made them?”
“Elgin didn’t consider himself an archaeologist, he considered himself an art conservator,” said Nat. “People used to do a lot of that stuff but they don’t anymore, at least mostly not.” There were always exceptions, unfortunately. “Nowadays we know that when you take stuff away from where you found it, you lose most of the information that comes with it.”
“Though you condemn the wrongs of the past, you don’t see fit to right them,” Sir Stephen noted.
“Wait until returning the marbles will piss somebody off,” said Nat. “Then they’ll get right on with it.”
They headed downstairs to look at the Caryatids, the six statues that had supported the porch roof of the Erectheon, when Natasha noticed a familiar figure among the crowd. Behind the Caryatids was a balcony that looked down to the floor below, where there were glass panels over an archaeological excavation directly underneath the museum building. And standing next to that, trying to pretend he wasn’t looking at them, was the man in the black t-shirt.
This time Natasha could see his face – and she recognized it at once.
When he realized she was looking at him, the man in black quickly turned his head. Natasha kept her eyes on him as she walked around to the other side of the statues. The figures had elaborate hairstyles which were visible only from behind, and Sharon and Sir Stephen were looking at them. Nat touched Sir Stephen’s arm, and he looked over his shoulder at her.
“What is it?” he asked.
“The man with the long hair, in the black t-shirt,” she muttered. “That’s the guy I saw at the café. Look familiar?”
Sir Stephen turned around. “He is facing away,” he said. “Is he another Buckeye?”
Nat glanced back – the man in black had indeed turned around. “Yes, definitely,” he said. “And I’m pretty sure he’s watching us on purpose.” She licked her lips. “Let’s go back upstairs.” The museum had a recommended walkthrough route that most visitors followed – going back up to the Parthenon level would be moving against the flow. If the man in the black t-shirt turned up there, too, it would be a strong indication that he was following them.
They found Sam and Allen, who had wandered off following Clint – he was insisting that somewhere in the museum was the world’s oldest computer. Natasha calmly informed him that the Antikythera Mechanism was in the National Archaeological Museum, about four kilometres away. She escorted him back up to the top floor, where they all sat down on the benches in the north gallery. From there they had a stunning view of the Acropolis itself, now shimmering in the full afternoon sun. In spite of that and the fact that there was still no wind, the whole hilltop was crawling with tourists.
Natasha decided to pretend she was giving a tour, herself. “Those arches there,” she said, pointing to a feature visible at the foot of the hill, “are part of the Odeon of Herodas, where they still hold performances and cultural events. On the right you can see a sort of dish-shaped slope, which is the remains of the Theatre of Dionysus…”
Her companions were not listening to her. They were all looking to the right – and there was the man in the black t-shirt, contemplating one of the carvings of Lapiths and centaurs. Sir Stephen stood up.
“Sir Steve…” Nat began. The marbles were replicas but there were other artifacts in here that were genuinely ancient and priceless. The museum was not a place to start a fight.
“I’m sorry, Natalie,” he said. “But I simply must know.”

What's your theory about what's going on in off?
Warning: Lengthywriting ahead with spoilers.
(I actually wrote a whole articleto answer this, anon! It nearly reached six pages on Word, but I had to cut itdown. And I think I took advantage of this Ask to make an analysis. Do forgiveme. I love this game so much.)
Let’s establish, OFF takes placein a world that is very unnatural and dystopia-like, specters plague the land, occupants breathe smoke, water is made out of liquid plastic and solid plasticmakes out other objects, and meat is theonly thing edible. Nameless inhabitants with the same dress code live theirlife in fear of the ghosts, and under the tyranny of the Zones’ ruthless and corruptedGuardians, withstanding a never-ending life of work.
You, the Player, control theBatter, an emotionless holy man who seeks to purify the world.
In general: OFF is about a fatherridding all hopes, dreams and affection for his terminally ill son. We play ashis persona, but we are in the view of his child.
It protects the books, but it can’t read them. Maybe we’re all protecting something, but we just don’t know what… or maybe we’re ruining it. - Elsen, Zone 2
Hugo
Hugo is sick. It is hinted in theevents of the Room when he mentions being told by his papa, and his sound clipbeing a cough. He had to take pills, and he wasn’t allowed to go outside. He lookslike a baby, but he probably didn’t grow up well, he also has no trace of hairon his head or eyebrow.
Each time you enter the Room, thesurroundings change. First, a smiley face made out of chairs is present; next afrown with tears, a bunch of computers with floors that hurts, people going toand fro, but you can’t touch them. And then the room itself turned into aprison cell. This is a manifestation of Hugo’s feelings towards his dwellingplace, dark, isolated, frightening, and lonely.
Sundays were probably special tohim in a way, considering most of the calendars noted “Sunday” and the Batterkeeps some Days with himself too as well.
There are six personalities
This game delves into psychology andmany symbolisms, which involves the characters themselves. If you would notice, most characters in the game are male except the Queen and Sucre. This supportsthe idea that all the male characters are manifestations of the father’sdifferent personalities.(I’m referencing the inspirations of this game being, SilentHill 2, where every character faces manifestations of their fears, an ill Mary;Brazil, with Jill and Sam; The Wizard of Oz; Killer7 etc.)
The Batter is dressed in abaseball uniform, manifesting how Hugo viewed his father as an enemy like the antagonist,Ballman, in his comic book. He is a Puppet, representing the Decision, beingstripped off of all emotions and empathy so that he can fulfill his goal topurify. What does purifying mean? To hide. And what are the specters? The truth. The truth that Hugo is dying. This is to achieve peace. Most parents wish tohelp their child continue living life as comfortable as possible despite their incurableillness. Talking to a kid about death is the most difficult thing to do.Valerie and the Judge are the father’s subconscious mind, the Judge being thewise conscience, and Valerie being judgment.
However, the father realized thatthe truth was undeniable. The specters were too many and the only way for themto come to an end was to finally turn the switch off, which belongs to the lifesupport of his vegetable/comatose son.
Dedan is a tall, foul mouthed, andill-tempered man. He is the guardian of Zone 1 which supports all the otherZones with its production of the elements that is vital for their world tocontinue living. He works endlessly to supply the needs and is loyal to theQueen. Dedan represents the father as the provider, who works hard to support hisfamily, and protect them. He has regards for time as hinted in the Room:Chapter 4 and his competencies. Overworking probably took the best of him. Andthus the Batter finishes him.
Japhet is a firebird thatmanifests the father’s other role who gives the pleasures and a future to his family. At some point, Hugo and his mother became engrossed with all the troubles thatthey forgot about what the father gave them, ‘peace’, 'security’,'entertainment’, that being the abandoned Mall, Library, and Amusement Park. Inthe Room: Chapter 4, he was a small humble bird, but then grew into one ofthose god-looking mythological creatures full of pride. His taking over Valerieis a symbol of being held by back his judgment, only to tear it to shreds and toallow his arrogance to get the best of him, lashing out at his people to hurtthem. He knew of what he became and is guilty of it. Thus following afterDedan’s downfall.
But that was me! It was I who made it all like that for you! Are you all so blinded by your pathetic fear of living? - Japhet
Enoch represents the father’shard attempts to feed his family sugar-coated lies, telling them thateverything will be okay, denying the truth of Hugo’s illness, even to the pointof chasing the Batter down and breaking through pipes just to stop him fromtelling the truth.
Zacharie manifests the father’spassive attitude. Careless, and being preoccupied with messing you around, he’sa deceiver. A man who wears a mask and has a heart stuck to his shirt. Sugar isanother representation of Hugo’s mother. And she’s nothing but boss hidden deepin Zone 0, obsessing over the lies. The two are manifestations of the fatherand mother’s relationship. Despite having killed Sugar, Zacharie just simplyremarks, “It’s better that way.”
The Queen
The Queen represents the mother. Beautiful, loving, powerful, and the light of Hugo’s world. She’s the Batter’s parallel, having add-ons of her own, and being much grander as compared to his simpledesign. The battle against her is an important one, as we get hints on whathappened. If you would notice, it seemed similar to a couple fighting, referencedby their dialogue, and the soundtracks played during the chapter, “Woman ofyour Dreams” and “The Meaning of His Tears”. Each word she said hurt him. Notonly was she berating him, she was also fighting to keep the lies but lost.
The Batter’s confrontation with Hugo
Each blow of his bat symbolizedthe father finally telling Hugo of his situation, however, still giving him theassurance that “There will be no more darkness”.
Unfortunately, all these eventshave already happened, and Hugo was just having flashbacks of his life. And we,the Player, spectated. We were only allowed to actually intervene when we weregiven a choice, to side with the Batter, or the Judge.
The final clash with the Judge represents thefather and his conscience. This very moment was beyond Hugo’s reach, and is nolonger a memory, but was actually taking place in the present. The father hadto make a final decision, and you were in his shoes. Pull the switch and thefather ends Hugo’s life, as well as his. Choose either way and it’s nothing butregrets, and a life of loneliness.
OFF did a good job in usingsymbolism in its narrative. It actually nearly covered most topics. Examples arebureaucracy, environmental problems, sickness, family, and imagination butstill not resulting in clichés. It’s bizarre, comedic, yet dark. Simple butstill complex. This game never ceases to fascinate me, truly the best horrorRPG.
But remember, it’s just a theory!Nothing is right or wrong, it’s all up to you. Thanks for reading.
I noticed thiswas pointed out already in @krazehcakes’ post, but I thought the exact same waybefore even reading theories online. Screenshots are property of Panzer’s textwalkthrough.

Do Magick: Day 1 – I Wasn’t Ready (But I Did It Anyway)
To get to the quick of it: The notebook wasn’t complete. What was originally envisioned as a dedicated note book became something else by the end of the last day of preparation.
It had become a grimoire.
The first few pages were a walkthrough of the ritual in step by step order but only naming the relevant passages rather than writing them in line. Then a page listing the tools I was starting out with, and the rest of the page intentionally kept empty to list modifications as they arrive. Following that was a handwritten copy of each and every prayer and incantation referenced in the initial “How To”.
In ink.
And block lettering.
Because I need to be able to understand what the hell I wrote down during the early morning hour that I will be performing the ritual as that is the only time during a twenty-four hour period I will be guaranteed solitude and silence from others in the house.
At the end of the third hour of continual but intentionally slow-paced writing, I realized what the book had become. I already had a high-level understanding of why the Book of Oberon was (dis)organized like someone had dropped a binder full of notes and hadn’t bothered to reorder the salvaged pages. But now I was experiencing it.
I had only intended to copy one version of “Hail Mary” because “who needs more than one, anyway?” I copied two. I had meant to fill the pages after the incantations with day-by-day notes of the experiment. I found myself adding other “little things” to copy over from the Book of Oberon to keep closer at hand during the experiment.
If I had all the prayers and incantations in digital format, either by blog posts or text files, why not just print them out and make a mini-pamphlet?
When I made my first mistake in the thin brown book, I understood why.
The word was supposed to be written with red ink. I had become distracted and had continued using the black ink I had started the sentence with. When I realized my error the moment the word was completed, the pain that arced through me made me cry out. It wasn’t just that I had marred a (relatively) perfect surface. It was that the book had become a mirror, and I just scratched it.
The act of writing out the words also wrote them to memory. I had practiced them before when I was marking the timing and choosing how best to fill the limited time I had for the ritual. But now as I wrote them, I not only chiseled the sounds to my tongue, but the very sight of the words were now burned into my sight. To say them was to call the shape and color of each letter into my mind where it would be expressed in my own silent way.
I could not allow myself to memorize the visual error even though it would have no effect of the sounds coming from my mouth. I hashed out the wrong colored word, muttering an unkind rebuke against it under my breath. I paused, listened to instinct and crossed myself, took up the proper color pen, and continued transcribing the prayers.
When I saw I had “only” two incantations left to inscribe late last night, I was happy. When I saw that one of them was the meat of the ritual, and more wordy than all seven of the Planetary Day Prayers, I was disheartened. I could either finish the notebook, or I could be awake enough in the morning to perform the ritual before getting ready for work.
But I could not have both.
I printed out the “conjuration most necessary” and the modified “License to Depart” and tucked it into the notebook to bring with me into the circle in the morning.
Fear kept me in the bed for a short time after the alarm went off. Thunder in the distance reminded me that obligations still have to be met.
I found the difference between a walk-through and a rehearsal. Steps that seemed right in a thought exercise had me getting in my own way when actually doing them. I made mental notes to further modify the list of steps in the notebook.
I chose a candle rich with the scent of mahogany and cedar for this first attempt. It’s nothing like frankincense, but it reminds me of old churches with wood plank floors that creaked as you softly stepped to the pew and how the wood paneling would warm during services to release the scent of all the oils used to polish it over the generations. It’s a solemn scent, a sacred scent.
When I lifted the lid and set it aside, my room became thick with the scent. I could only imagine how much more the scent would pervade if I actually lit the candle.
I looked as foolish as I felt as the show went on without an audience or a response. I had remained standing for all the incantations, but after completing the “conjuration most necessary”, I sat down at the chair contained with me in the circle. The table with the also encircled Book of Oberon bearing the shewstones remained just outside of my space.
I did not have a prepared speech for this inactive moment. I expected nothing to happen, and unfortunately, nothing is what I prepared. So I spoke to the shewstones instead.
I admitted my ignorance and my hubris. I admitted where I was missing and where I was too focused. I spoke of this action being a direct result of the Birto working and that I could be easily misled due to my eagerness to challenge my beaten in fears of Christianity and its trappings.
“So, I guess I’m trying to say… I need to know if I’m on the right path with this. I need to know if this is how I start.”
I did not realize my eyes had closed until I failed to open them. I did not realize my hand was stretched over the shewstones until I failed to pull it back.
But in my false sight, I saw the room bright and clear. Each item was where I had left it.
Except the candle, was lit.
The scent changed from heavy mahogany and cedar to something that gripped me softly in my chest. I watched with false sight as the smoke from the lit candle bent towards the shewstones and wound around and between them as if it could not make up its mind which stone to steal for itself. The smoke then turned up and wound around and between my fingers. The warmth of the smoke gave it a sense of firmness and flesh and I had the sensation of something softly shaking my hand in greeting.
In the sizzle of the false flame, I heard a voice.
«It’s a start. But you are not halfway. Keep reaching.»
The false flame extinguished itself and my eyes opened without any will from me.
My allotted time for “wonders” had ended. I spoke the License to Depart followed by Psalm 54 and the “cutting” of the circle.
As I went about my day, I wondered if my excitement and eagerness for anything to happen caused me to see as I did. After all, Birto himself said that the only reason I saw him was because others in the group exercise had done all the proper work and I was riding in their wake. But the more I reflected on what happened when my eyes closed, the more I felt secure that this was my “thing” after all.
This evening, after work, I finished transcribing the “conjuration most necessary”, the modified “License to Depart”, and a modified “book blessing” into the thin brown book. It took three hours to finish it. Technically, it is a complete set of prayers and actions for the specific purpose of summoning [Patient Caller]. But with the listing of the Planetary Prayers and the book blessing, it has purposes outside of its initial scope.
I set out to summon a spirit and am winding up writing a personal grimoire.
Funny how magic works, isn’t it.

The Story
It was sunny and perfect for a nap! While sleeping, Hamtaro had a terrible dream. He dremt that a hamster dressed in a devil costume appeared in Ham-Ham Land Funpark, breaking up hearts of all friends, so the friends would fight with each other. The devil hamster, known as Spat (He has a habit of always saying “Pfpth”.) enjoyed making friends mad at each other, and he could just not get enough!Hamtaro arrived in the Ham-Ham Land Funpark, and Spat looked at him, and immediatly went to break his heart. As Spat was running towards him, Hamtaro awoke to hear Boss calling his name. When Boss went upstairs, Hamtaro told Boss about his scary dream, and what Spat promised to do. Boss wondered if Hamtaro’s dream was a preginition, a dream that can see in the future. Without another word, Boss said he need Hamtaro downstairs to get a favor. As Hamtaro walked downstairs, he slipped on some water and fell straight into a bucket of water, soaking his Ham-Ham Dictionary, and all but a few of his words!!! With little symphony, Boss told Hamtaro to learn from mistakes, and move on with life. He then told Hamtaro that Bijou wandered off somewhere, and Hamtaro had to go look.Where is Bijou, and how will Hamtaro find her? Why does Spat want to ruin hearts? What was the meaning of Hamtaro’s dream? With Harmony (The angel hamster), and Bijou, and Hamtaro, you have to go from level to level, seeking Spat, and trying to stop his tricks, while filling up your love meter at the same time.

They will teach you to hamlift. You will then use the hamlift to get to pepper and tell her Oxnard is bluhoo (sad).
