BotW Link Being a Quiet (and Sleepy) Drunk
(A/N:) Playing TotK and immediately my soul is being recaptured by Linky Winky
(Edit:) This draft is almost a year old! I started it the day TotK came out, lol
Contains: GN!Reader, could be interpreted as either botw or totk link, him being CUTE
Word Count: 474
Link's face pressed into the crook of your neck, having migrated a bit since he'd put his head on your shoulder earlier in the evening.
You smiled and lightly stroked his hair, which earned you a hum--the vibrations of which you could feel in your neck.
It wasn't like Link wasn't affectionate, he was incredibly affectionate when he's certain it's not unwanted. However, even with your constant prompting and encouragement for him to be more open with his displays of affection, he still always kept a respectful distance when you were around others.
You didn't take it personally, you knew it was just the way he was; and a part of you liked that his affection was reserved for just the two of you--that you were the only one who got to see him like that.
Still, that wasn't to say that you didn't like when Link was more open about his love for you, which was something often brought out by inebriation.
He's a quiet drunk, just as he is sober, and one might not think he's affected much at all by the alcohol, but you can tell.
You can see how his eyes linger on you for longer than usual, notice the clinginess that usually comes with him being in that state. And one thing that you loved was how he became more vocal.
Yes, he was a quiet drunk, but less quiet than when he is sober; and you relish in his soft sighs and hums as he nuzzles into your neck, unbothered by the presence of the others.
Zelda smiled at the sight of you two, but the others didn't seem to take notice. Sidon and Yunobo were in deep conversation, while Riju was idly talking about jewelry to Zelda.
Link wrapped an arm around your waist, hand settling on your hip. He seemed intent on keeping his face in your neck, and you recalled him once telling you that you always smelled good.
"Hmm..." Link sighed, squeezing your hip. You continued to stroke his hair.
Even though he became more daring when he was drunk, he'd still never touch you in a sexual way in even a semi-public context. You knew he just wanted to be closer to you. (Sometimes you wondered in amusement, if Link would attach himself to you, given the opportunity.)
Link looked sleepier than anything, and you brushed gently along his ears, coming to a decision.
"Everyone, it's been amazing to meet with you all and catch up, but I think it's about time we turn in for the night." You smiled, helping Link up, who neglected to let go of you. Whether due to trouble keeping upright or simply a desire to touch you, you didn't know.
Not that it really mattered. All you were worried about now was getting your boy to bed.
#link x reader#(not pictured: me struggling for far too long about what Riju would hypothetically be talking about)#my first thought was feminism but i was like no that's too on the nose#what gerudo woman wouldn't have majorly feminist ideals#i'll admit jewelry wasn't much better but...wtv#i'm overthinking it#i also feel like this flows weird but fuck it we ball#hope yall like this old drabble#botw x reader#totk x reader#botw link x reader#totk link x reader#loz x reader#loz link x reader

➶ botw/totk!𝓵ink x 𝓯𝓮𝓶!reader 。˚ ° | !!𝙎𝙈𝙐𝙏!!
𝕹𝕾𝕱𝖂 𝕳𝖊𝖆𝖉𝖈𝖆𝖓𝖔𝖓𝖘 | afab!reader, oral (masc/fem receiving), penetration, (kinda?) public sex, link's kinda a pervert idk
Love Note From Zee ; ;
the results are in! you guys voted for link nsfw headcanons and i shall deliver! had so much fun with this (and i absolutely did NOT get horny while writing this, i literally don't know what you're talking about, i'm SO normal about him wdym)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
「 ✦ You know that whole thing about it ALWAYS being the quiet ones? Yeah, Link is the prime example of that. 」
「 ✦ Mans has a lot of pent up frustrations after being asleep for an entire century, so needless to say, your sex life is pretty damn active. It's either he sets the entirety of Hyrule on fire or he gets his dick wet in some way or another, you pick. 」
「 ✦ Link is a MAJOR whimperer. Especially if he's getting head? Ugh, he can't stop whimpering. It's only gonna get worse if he's being praised DURING the ravishing. 」
A plethora of whimpers spilled between the knight's lips as his tip was treated to the tip of [Name]'s tongue swirling and pressing against it. Link's hips bucked upward desperately, needing more. "I'm so proud of you, Link. You're doing so good, you deserve this and so much later for all the work you've been doing for this whole kingdom." [Name] would whisper in between bobs on his length. Link could hardly stand it. He pushed his hips forward once more, trying not to cum on the spot from all the praises he was getting and the feel of her tongue on his dick. He let out a sound that was a mix of a whimper and a grunt as his lover's mouth lowered down his shaft once more.
「 ✦ He's also a bit of a pervert. Naturally, Link's pretty nosy. Constantly reading people's diaries and stealing their shit, but with you, it's so much worse and so much more personal. 」
「 ✦ He likes to snoop through your clothes, especially your underwear, while you're sleeping at night since he doesn't really feel the need to sleep and gets bored. 」
While [Name] was sleeping on their side, sleeping off a full day of journeying through the Hyrulian countryside, Link was hidden behind a bush with his trousers undone and a pair of frilly underwear clutched in his hand. He fisted at his length, a series of slow, soft pleasured noises bubbling out of his throat. Normally, he much preferred having your hands jerking him off, but you were sleeping right now and he didn't want to wake you. But he just couldn't wait. Your underwear was coated in your scent and he could barely stand it. Besides, the soft fabric of your undergarments around his cock was almost a good enough substitute.
「 ✦ When it comes to fucking, Link is pretty wild with it, as he is with everything else. He's very fast and desperate with his movements. He gropes at your breasts and your hips and leaves love bites and hickeys all over your neck and shoulders. 」
「 ✦ His favorite position is mating press. Not necessarily because he wants to breed you, but rather because he just really liked having your legs propped up on his shoulders. Plus, it gives him more thrusting room. 」
「 ✦ Very enthusiastic head giver as well. He's fast and desperate with that, too. His tongue is working extra hard, pushing as deeply into you as he possibly can, and his lips suck at your clit like he's trying to get the last bit of pudding out of a snack pack. A true pussy glutton! 」
The wind carried Link's desperate-sounding whimpers to your ears as he held your thighs against his shoulders as he pressed his face into your pussy. His tongue darted in and out, lapping up any form of fluid he could pull from your body. His lips sucked at your swollen, abused bud as if he was trying to pull loose the last bit of liquid through a straw, Your fingers tangled into his blonde hair and tugged at it as your chest heaved. He looked so cute down there between your legs, eating you out like your pussy was his favorite meal. Which honestly, it probably was.
「 ✦ Lots and lots and lots of sex outside. Granted, you're never around people when you fuck, but you're in the middle of a field, so honestly, you've probably been caught fucking by a very embarrassed villager at least two or three times. 」
「 ✦ Not that Link really cares, though. He's completely fucking shameless, that boy. 」

one bed | (botw) link x reader
synopsis | you and link stop by an inn to rest, but there’s one small problem
word count | 1.3k
note | thought about it too hard so i wrote a fic about it (based on this little comic! pls look at it it’s so cute)
As the moon rose, the world beyond your hotel window fell into a peaceful slumber. The faint sound of crickets could be heard singing their calming melody. The peaceful night ambiance would’ve been enough to put you to sleep had it not been for your frantic beating heart.
In front of you lies your traveling companion, Link, whose back was practically against the wall, arms wrapped around himself as if afraid to accidentally touch you.
The silence in the room was deafening, neither of you knew what to say in this situation. After sleeping on the hard ground for weeks the two of you had agreed to spend the night at The Great Ton Pu Inn. The rain that quickly followed your decision only fueled your excitement for a comfy bed as the two of you rushed up the hill leading to Hateno Village. What neither of you expected was for every room to be booked, every room but one with a single bed.
Despite both of you being tired from traveling, neither of you could fall asleep because of the awkward tension that hung in the air. Ignoring it was proving to be impossible, someone had to say something, but you were hesitant to break the silence for fear of making things awkward (as if they weren’t already). You had been traveling with Link for weeks, months even! The two of you have shared several nights close together under the comfort of the stars, what makes now so different?
Maybe it was the smirk the front desk lady had given you both after handing you your key, maybe it was because despite how much you prayed for a room with two beds to miraculously become available you were secretly happy to share a bed with the Hylian boy, or maybe it was because despite you looking everywhere but him you could feel his eyes on you.
Just say something, anything!
You clear your throat, shuffling nervously under the blanket. “Um.. Rupee for your thoughts?” You asked in a hushed voice, an awkward smile making its way onto your face.
Link blinked rapidly in response, likely surprised by your sudden question. He continued to stare at you in silence, now tense as his cheeks turned a bright red.
Thinking you made him uncomfortable you quickly rise out of the bed. “Sorry! You know what maybe I should just sleep on the couch—”
Before you had the chance to remove the blanket from your body Link quickly sat up in bed and reached out to grab your wrist, shaking his head furiously. You stop when he does, slightly surprised to see how fast he had reacted when he looked so tired earlier. Your eyes fall on his hand which, despite the quick reaction, holds your wrist just tight enough to keep you from leaving but loose enough for you to pull away if you so wished. Realizing what he did he slowly pulls away. You immediately miss the warmth.
He looks down, blush remaining on his cheeks as he nervously fiddles with his fingers. “Don’t go, I..” he pauses, unsure if he should finish his thought. He looked up to see you staring at him patiently, waiting for him to finish. That was one thing he loved about you; you were always so patient with him. Although he was more talkative than he was 100 years ago he often found himself struggling to express what he wanted, likely an unconscious habit that stayed with him through his century-long sleep. Despite this you never hurried or pressured him into talking, allowing him to do it at his own pace. Taking a deep breath he continued. “.. I like being close to you.”
As soon as the words left his mouth you felt your cheeks burn. Did you hear him right or was it just a hallucination caused by the late hour of the night? You thought about pinching yourself, but the way he nervously played with his fingers (a habit you found adorable) and the way the ends of his hair curled up just a bit revealing a small scar on his shoulder made it too real to be a dream.
After a few moments of silence Link looked up, seeing your shocked expression. He quickly backtracked, thinking he made you uncomfortable with what he said. “Unless you don’t! That’s fine!—”
“I do!”
Link freezes upon hearing your response. You awkwardly clear your throat. “I-I mean, I also like being close to you..” you nearly whisper, feeling your ears burn with the embarrassment of blurting it out earlier.
Then the room went silent. Your heart was frantically beating against your chest; you hoped Link couldn’t hear it.
Your fear was proven false (unbeknownst to you) as Link was currently lost in his own mind. Link had become so accustomed to seeing you in that golden campfire glow that the current sight of you left him breathless. He thought you looked even more captivating in the moonlight.
He slowly nodded his head, eyes refusing to leave your form. “Ok.” He responded in a daze. It was the only thing Link could think to say as his mind was still elsewhere.
“We should probably sleep now..” You looked past Link and out the window, seeing the moon high in the clear sky. “It’s getting late.”
Link hummed, snapping out of the trance he was in and nodding his head in agreement. You settled back under the blanket and he followed your actions. Despite your earlier conversation, there was still a good chunk of space between the two of you on the small bed.
Wanting him to come closer, you begin to think of a way to convince him. “You know, it’s kind of cold in here.” You whispered (a small lie, it was the middle of summer), but you knew Link heard you when he looked back at you. Deciding to take a chance you scoot closer to him and you hear his breath hitch. “So I wouldn’t mind if.. you came closer.”
Hesitantly, Link listened and with a smile scooted just a little bit closer. You breathed out a sigh of relief you didn’t even know you were holding, moving closer to him again. Beneath the blanket, your hand slowly moved to reach his. As your fingers slowly grazed his he flinched. You were about to pull away before he intertwined his hand with yours. There’s that familiar warmth.
He pulled your hand close to his chest, gently tugging you closer. You complied, wordlessly moving closer to him once again. The distance between your bodies was minimal now; you were so close you could see the faintest freckles gracing his cheeks.
“Are you still cold?” He asked in a low whisper. You nodded your head (another lie, you were already beginning to feel sweaty). You couldn’t help it, now that you’ve experienced what it’s like to be close to him you crave more. Being greedy just this once wouldn’t hurt.
Link lets go of your hand, wrapping his arms around you to bring you against his chest. Your eyes widen at the sudden action, but you don’t pull away.
“Better?”
You nodded, slowly wrapping your arms around him in case he flinched away. When he didn’t you fully wrapped your arms around his torso and snuggled into him, a painfully large grin stretching across your face when he did the same. Your palms were sweaty as they tightly gripped his shirt. He smelled earthy, like damp dirt with a hint of smoke. You sighed in contentment, not caring that the two of you would likely wake up sweaty tomorrow. You didn’t release your grip and neither did he.
You silently thanked Hylia for not answering your prayer earlier before falling into a deep sleep.
thank you for reading till the end! :D

Are you sick of me yet?
Hyrule!Link x GN!Reader ✭
Synopsis: Link refuses to leave you alone after you lose to him
Content Warnings: cocky link, possessiveness if you squint, light cussing, a lil kithy kith, and uhhhh jealous zelda if that’s how u wanna see it 🧍
A/N: jesus link brain rot is getting to me rn, and i got the new loz themed nintendo switch cause i’m OBSESSED- pls it’s so pretty🥰
Word count 1 .4k
To everybody, Link was a man of few words, and to most, he was intense. Never speaking much, and when he did, his words were blunt, curt, and devoid of vulnerability. He didn’t care what others thought of him, only that he got paid fairly for his work. Though there was a side of him that he didn’t show all that much, a side of him that only reared it’s head depending on the situation. He wasn’t secretly a softie or anything, no no, he was worse.
“That was a tough loss.” Link said while inhaling through his teeth, mocking something close to sympathy. You had just finished a racing competition, which wasn’t something you usually engaged in, simply because you were one to get really competitive and you were a sore loser, but you’d never show it, nor ever confirm it out loud, but you were. it was a fact you couldn’t deny. So you ignored Link’s comment, simply ignoring him as you made your way to your steed, walking a bit faster in hopes Link wouldn’t catch up, because if you were being honest, if you had to look at the grin on his face…you’d probably punch it. Though Link wasn’t having it, taking your silence as a challenge.
You sharply turned a corner in hopes he’d just give up his attempts to get you to lash out at him. Moments from the race replaying in your mind, pissing you off more. The reason he was so amused by your loss is because you’re known to be one of the most talented racers in the kingdom, and you had come second, and Link of course, was in first. He wasn’t going to let you live this down that much is for sure, not unless you were able to rub his ego into the mud…and then stomp on it multiple times…then maybe setting it on fire. If it was possible, you’d consider traveling across Hyrule to throw it into a volcano.
Lost in your thoughts, with your eyes fixated on the cobblestone path beneath you, you didn’t see the encroaching obstacle in front of you until you collided with it. Looking up at a very unpleasant face. Link didn’t say a word, just staring down at you with that stupid smug face, as if you were smaller than him. Physically yes. But in every other aspect absolutely not, but as much as you hated it, you couldn’t help but feel heat rising to your cheeks at the proximity between the two of you. You stepped to the side to leave him behind yet again, though he mirrored your actions holding his expression.
“Can I help you, asshole?” You spat, sounding like more of a demand rather than a question. But much to your displeasure, your comment only inflated his ego as he tilts his head playfully at you.
“Aw don’t be like that.” He teases, causing your scowl to intensify.
“Shut up. Don’t act like you’re not enjoying this.” You retort. Pushing past him.
“You know me well~” He chuckles. The sound making your stomach flutter.
“Piss off.” Eyes focused on the stable that your Loftwing resides in, sleeping peacefully.
“No. I don’t think I will~” He taunts. Unbeknownst to you, he picks up his pace, inching his face closer to yours, whispering into your ear. “I know you like it when I tease you.” Emitting a sharp gasp from you, whipping your head at him with a look of disbelief, holing a hand over your ear.
“No I don’t!” You retort, a little more enthusiastically than you intended, mentally cursing yourself as you see Link puffing out his chest; and by your red cheeks, it only confirms his statement.
“Yeah?” His tone was quiet, as if you’d both get in trouble if he was heard. But as he starts moving towards you, absent-mindedly stepping back as he did, until your back hits the cold stone wall, only then do you realize it’s just you that’s in trouble. “Then why are you so flustered then?” Asking a question he already knows the answer to.
“I’m not.” You stare at him through your eyelashes, trying to intimidate him, though you know it won’t work. This causes Link to tilt his head once more, but his expression is different this time. He’s looking at you like he wants something…needs something. You immediately pick up on this; his hungry gaze, half-lidded eyes analyzing every inch of your face causing your heart to beat rapidly.
You turn your head away from him to hide your red face. But Link wasn’t having it. He wanted you to squirm under him his gaze, lifting a hand to your chin and tilting it up so you’d look at him. He was surprisingly gentle with his movements, slowly pulling your chin upwards towards him but stopping before your lips could touch. The proximity of your faces causing your eyes to flicker to his lips, only for a moment before meeting his eyes again. Though this didn’t go unnoticed by the man in front of you, causing him to look down at you with a seductive glint in his eyes.
“See something you like?” Link teases, adoring how red you’ve gotten. He moves closer, lips ghosting over each other for a few seconds before you can’t take it anymore and finally kiss him, a hand snaking up his neck; fingers lacing between his soft blonde locks while your other hand lays against his ribcage for support. Your boldness causing Link to chuckle into the kiss, sending heat through your body like shockwaves which only intensifies when his hands find their place on your hips, using them as an anchor to push his body against yours, chests pressed against each other.
He pushes his tongue into your mouth, his hand dragging up your body as it settles on your jaw, pulling you even closer. His kiss is heated, rough, and possessive, as if this was his way of claiming you as his, and deep down, you didn’t mind as much as you said you did, indulging yourself in him. Both of you were growing desperate, frantic even, as if you’ll die if you separate, but sadly breathing is a necessity.
You break the kiss to breathe, but before you can even take a full breath, Links lips find yours again, groaning into your mouth.
“Ahem!” A distant voice echoed. Causing you both to freeze, Link pulling away from your lips to turn his head towards the voice, a trail of saliva connecting the two of you. As Link moved his head, you were mortified to see Zelda standing a few meters away with her arms crossed over her chest, looking at you two clearly unimpressed with what she walked in on. “Link, my father wants to speak with you. He insists you meet with him as soon as…” She trails off, eyes flickering to you for a moment, then back to link. “…you’re done with your little rendezvous.” Zelda finished, turning on her heel and taking her leave.
Link looks back at you with a that same stupid smirk, and your just absolutely traumatized that the princess caught you making out with her knight, but Link has a mischievous glint in his eyes.
“Wanna keep goin?” Link said with optimism. Which pissed you off considering you’re probably not the princess’ favorite person after that; the thought far from pleasant as you pushed him away and stormed off.
“Argh- you’re so stupid! Don’t ever pull that again.” A frustrated hand running through your hair, trying to find something to help you forget about the whole ordeal.
This causes Link to let out a low chuckle, watching the way your hips sway as you fade into the distance.
“That’s what you said last time.”

Yandere wild headcanons
Guess who just found a set of near finished headcanons buried in a headcanon wip file :P Just had to alter one or two and here we go! some yan wild - most of this is from where I used he/they for wild (which, I'm honestly very tempted to go back to)
[masterlist]
✦ they have attachment issues, as well as being very touch-starved after their 100-year nap
✦ they can't live without your touch, even if they themselves don't understand why yours is so much better than anyone else's touch
✦ They’re your closest and as long as they have it their way, one of the only people you will trust.
✦ You think you can sleep anywhere else other than in their bedroll in his hold? there's no chance. Maybe at best, you can convince them to at least hold you in your bedroll but that's it.
✦ Do you think getting a bed in an inn would free you from them using you as a personal teddy? you couldn't be more wrong. They play it as saving rupees for supplies by sharing a room with you as long as none of the others want you instead? it works without fail.
✦ they’re as clingy as humanly possible, it's almost like they want to become your scarf or coat with how they’re so constantly wrapped around you
✦ on the tiniest chance that you aren’t in their arms you’re never ever out of their line of sight, they’re far to scared to lose you like everyone else they’ve ever known. Not even death could tear you from them.
✦ You best like never eating at a restaurant or ever cooking for yourself again. He’s obsessed with getting your “blessing” for any meal they make, only catering for your taste over the rest of the chain from the second he falls, well with twilight being the only exception. He could never live with himself if he poisoned wolfie afterall.

So... I have a request. Can you do a LoZ fanfic- Link x f!reader, but pretty much they are fighting together on their quest to fight the calamity, and things get a little fiery after a big fight while the adrenaline is running high.
Getting Heated After Battle HCs (BOTW! Link x Reader)
𝗔/𝗡: 𝗶 𝗺𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗮 𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝘀𝗶𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘂𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗼𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗸. 𝘀𝗼 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲'𝘀 𝗯𝗼𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗸 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗵𝗰𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗼 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗶𝘁 𝗮𝘀 𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝘆!

𝙟𝙤𝙞𝙣 𝙢𝙮 𝙙𝙞𝙨𝙘𝙤𝙧𝙙 𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙚𝙧?
𝙗𝙪𝙮 𝙢𝙚 𝙖 𝙘𝙤𝙛𝙛𝙚𝙚?
It’s definitely a moment where there was a close call and emotions are running super high
There was probably sexual tension present since the get-go but maybe the two of you were keeping things at bay because you both knew that saving Hyrule was the priority
But things happen, y’know…
Like he saved you at the very last second while shielding your body and slaying a monster or something
But moments of silence right after he saved you and just looking into each other eyes turned into rushing at each other and grabbing each other into a heated kiss
Next thing you know, you’re pulling down his trousers and sticking his cock in your mouth while he’s threading his fingers through your hair
In between breaths of air, while sucking him off, you tell him that this is your way of saying thank you for saving me <3
He says fuck that and puts you on your back instead
It’s definitely not the most ideal place to fuck
But boy was this one of the hottest places you both could choose to finally let loose hehe

BETTER THAN THIS
Link(totk) x reader, 1900 words
summary: you are Zelda’s personal assistant. Link is Zelda’s bodyguard. You’ve always hated each other, but what if that isn’t the complete truth?
cw: lots suggestive content, enemies to lovers fic with a wild amount of horniness and angst. Intoxication and random person is overly touchy with reader.
Who would’ve thought that you and the hero Link would be together tonight, in a passionate embrace underneath the Zora Kingdom party, your breath intertwined and lips colliding frantically? Certainly not you, who hated Link with every fibre of your being due to his uptight personality and constantly anxious demeanour.
You’re Princess Zelda’s personal assistant, organising her events and facilitating the revival of the castle after Calamity Ganon’s attack. Honestly, Link got on your nerves. He never left you and Zelda alone, was always worried about safety issues and didn’t answer your questions, as if he’s some sort of better person than you. And it was no secret that he didn’t like you too, divulging to Zelda that you’re taking the modernization of the castle too far or that your schedule is too much for her. Therefore, Zelda became your strange little message carrier, conveying messages between the two of you and trying to keep the peace. Sometimes she would try and complement him to you, saying statements such as “he was so kind the other day” or “He definitely worried about you when you left last night.”
She tries desperately to repair this illogical feud between you, but to no avail. That is until today, when the three of you are sitting in a wagon together on the way to the Zora domain. Sidon’s inauguration is tonight, and the princess is expected to attend for her blessing. This involves a party, grand feast and hours of boring speeches, but it’s for the best to have a prospering society in Hyrule.
“I’ve always loved this area so much. Don’t you?” Zelda asks, bewilderment in her eyes as she looks around the area. It is beautiful here, and Link seems to agree due to the twinkling look in his eyes. “Definitely. We’re planned to stay here for three days, but I may elongate the stay so we can do some sightseeing. I hear that they have built a Mipha memorial nearby.” Link stiffens at your words, having some sort of impact on him that you don’t quite understand. “I’m not looking at a statue of my dead friend.” He mutters, loud enough for you to hear but not Zelda, who is sitting opposite the two of you. You wonder whether you should speak up, telling him that Sidon put hard work into it but ultimately don’t stir the pot. Afterall, you don’t want to ruin the ride with your bickering once more.
The wagon enters the gates of Zora’s Domain, illustrating a wide runway with blues and aquas, like an underwater sanctuary out of a fairytale. Zora children and adults crowd the sides, waving enthusiastically at you as they cheer. Zelda smile’s back at them in that same way she looked at the views from earlier: grateful and ecstatic.
When a child runs over to the wagon and follows it through tripping steps and teary eyes, she holds up a ragged teddy bear to Link. “Link! Link! I love you!” He timidly takes it, an embarrassed blush quickly turning his face into a resemblance of a tomato. You laugh, finding his nerves shocking as he is the hero of Hyrule after all. “He said thank you!” You call out to the child as she stops following the wagon, noticing the despondent look on her face that he never responded. “Thanks…” He grumbles, avoiding your eye contact as he places the bear in his bag. “No problem. But maybe we need to get you into some of Zelda’s etiquette classes if you’re going to act like that every time a fan interacts with you.” Link just merely rolls his eyes.
You arrive, and as Zelda and Link already reunite with their old friends you set off to work. Those two may be able to have fun, but you don’t, rushing around to ensure everything is perfect for the princess. She certainly isn’t posh or judgmental, but Zelda does have certain things that she likes to have in her living situations. It is your responsibility to ensure that her journal is in her room, bags are unpacked and clothes are prepped for the next day, as well as checking that all the appropriate safety precautions are made.
After a while you collapse on a chair, watching Sidon’s attendees scatter around to prepare for the crowning. It’s tough work, and even tougher when you watch Link joke around with Sidon instead of helping. Isn’t he supposed to be Zelda’s bodyguard? So why is it your responsibility to update the guards on your arrival and suspected leave date and not his? Lost in your frustration about this and the other many things he does (like why is his hair always so silky??) you suddenly have someone sit down next to you, their toned bicep leaning on the back of the chair and an exhausted huff leaving their mouth.
“Zelda told me to take a rest while she goes for a walk with Yona. Mind if I join you?” Asks Link, his eyebrows furrowed as if he just did something preposterous. You turn to him bluntly, eyes scanning his body. Who does he think he is, just suddenly acting like he’s your friend? But you don’t want him to get any satisfaction out of your shock, so you merely reply “Yeah that’s alright” before turning back away from him.
As much as you would love to uphold a confident, unbothered quality in this moment, the air is soon filled with and uneasy silence you yearn to break. But why? You never want to speak to Link, and certainly not with trivial small talk.
“This looks nice. The coronation is going to be beautiful.” He states. “Yeah, definitely. But they’re also so… long.” He laughs at your annoyance; in a beautiful rumble you don’t think you’ve ever heard before. You continue to talk, trying to conceal that pit in your stomach. “But Zelda loves them, and I know Dorephan is thrilled to pass on the throne to his son.” Link nods thoughtfully, pondering your words. “That’s true. I know this was a big day for Zelda, regardless of if she ever actually had a coronation or wanted one. It’s a nerve-wracking yet important step for any royalty, and culturally unique in every way.” Once he finishes your mind is fried, having never heard him speak remotely more than a sentence in the past. But he knows much more than you do, and his insight is intriguing to say the least.
The conversation is left there, after a cook runs up to you asking about the princesses’ dietary requirements. Before you know it, it’s well into the night and you feel like you haven’t breathed once. During the speeches you were ensuring Zelda was prepared for hers, during the crowning you were helping the chefs prepare the food and during the idle chatter you were having meetings with members of the community to see what the royal family could do to help them.
You find Zelda on the middle of the dance floor with the new king of the Zora, doing some sort of traditional jig and giggling like a schoolgirl. You told her not to have any wine tonight, but it seems she didn’t listen. “My dear, will you not dance with us?” asks an intoxicated and overtly touchy older Rito man. “Oh, thank you but I don’t know the dance.” “Well that’s fine, I don’t know it either! You just copy the person next to you! Here, follow me!” Without further warning he grabs your arm and pulls you onto the floor, twirling you despite how you almost fall over. The dance is complicated and fast, but with this random man’s lead you manage just fine. That is until it’s time to switch partners, and your viciously thrown into Links arms.
“Link?!” The two of you look at each other with the shock of seeing someone come back from the dead, even though you knew you were both at the party. “You didn’t strike me as a dancer” He says, and you scoff. “Neither did you. What are you doing?” “I don’t know, guess the wine got to me.” He answers honestly. Your hands intertwine and you clumsily follow the movements, as he does the same in a somehow even worse way. He twirls you, and you swear you see his eyes drift down to your ass, but they jump back up to your eyes with an intense glare. Just to spite him, you pull him in close, seeing his confident stare falter. “Having a nice night?” You smirk, hand clasping his shoulder. He’s warm but muscled. It feels good on your dainty hand. “Could be better. Want to get out of here?”
Did he just, say what you think he did? You stop dancing, despite being jostled by the people next to you. Wordlessly you nod, unable to get the words out as you fear that perhaps you’re dreaming this. But why would you? You don’t care what he thinks, or about spending time with him. Still holding your hand, he leads you down the stairs to the pools, leaning on the railing which overlooks the water and you join him, reluctantly dropping his hand.
“So, what’s your deal?” He asks, not even bothering to turn and look at you. “What do you mean?” “I mean why are you here? Being a personal assistant, following Zelda and I around. You seem… Better equipped for something more fulfilling.” You blush, surprised at his complement. “I don’t know. I guess it was just what was expected for me. Apparently my ancestors worked at the castle, and so when Zelda was hiring my parents were thrilled. They thought I was perfect for it, as it’s in my blood and all. But I… Wanted to adventure. Go to the wildest plains of Hyrule, climb the tallest mountains and meet the furthest civilisations. But I can still do that with you two!” A silence lingers between the two of you, an uncomfortable one that makes the hair on your neck stand up. Finally, he turns to you and straightens up. The creases on his forehead display true concern, one you haven’t had directed towards you since you were a kid scraping your knee after a tumble.
“No. You go and do that, Zelda and I don’t need you. This is your life, not your parents, not anybody else’s. Yours.” He seems truly angry when his says this, and it makes your heart flutter. When he says his next words he closes the gap between you, lips almost touching yours but showing the tiniest restraint to not. “You’re better than just some personal assistant. Trust me, I know it.”
That’s when you can’t take anymore, and you kiss him. If you were in any sort of right mind, you’d think you were insane for doing this, your fervour causing him to stumble back and grab your waist for support. But he kisses you back, tongue sliding hungrily into your mouth and grazing your white teeth. You moan, and he digs his nails into your ass.
You needed this, and so did he. Whether you knew it or not.

Linked Universe / GN!Reader - Random Headcanons abt the Chain :)
Part 1 (ur here!) / Part 2 / Part 3
Sun: Gender Neutral! Reader (you/they/them), Guide Reader
Orbit: Headcanons-ish
Stars: First, Sky, Four, Legend
Comets & Meteors: Content: None Known & Triggers: None Known.
U have a lot of Nicknames: Guide, Hero's Guide, Prince, Princey, Star, (more to be added?).
☆
First (Manga!Link):
Has "too good" of posture lol
It makes his back stiff and by the time he's in his bedroll he's confused about why it feels better, silly silly man
Just in general tenses his muscles too often, so whenever u offer to massage him, he nearly crumbles on the spot
(the others know exactly how amazing ur massages are, and are fully staring at him in jealousy lol)
Gets little rips and tears in his clothing all the time somehow??
Even tho he wont have a scratch acc on him after hours of battle???
mans could be flying around Skyloft with only clouds touching him and come back pouting telling you he ripped his scarf again :'(
Likes to be slightly in front of you most of the time, especially in new places/other Links' Hyrules
It just makes him feel better knowing he's both protecting you, and that you're watching his back
(Most Links feel at their best/most confident when your voice can be heard just over their shoulder, not that they don't love seeing ur face now too)
Sky (Skyward Sword Link):
Is slowly making everyone he knows a collection of wooden figurines
He usually carves when he's bored or stressed
so needless to say this mission of the Shadow (slow going, stressful at times like Twi getting hurt)
Has made him give u an army of little wooden figures (everyone else gets a small collection bc ur the first he gives one to)
Did i say give? Excuse me, i meant:
sneaks them as a little surprise into your belongings or clothing or other personal effects
This started bc after a week or two of him giving you wooden things you tried to reroute him to other ppl,
so Sky just made it his mission to see how many he can sneak instead onto you on any given day lmao
(Also he may or may not have daydreamed abt being able to carve u things and actually physically give them to you on his adventure before, so he's taking advantage of being able to now)
Has luscious hair at all times, little to no effort, Wars is so pissed abt it lol
Mf responded when asked what products he used (by poor Wars too) with, "wym?? With water??? And soap????"
Never ties his boot laces
You will all be gearing up for battle and go to stalk and stealth kill monsters and right before u get up on them u always have to look over at Sky's shoes and whisper at him to tie them
Is the most likely to plant face first into the ground or trip and fall on his ass from shoes untying
He just didnt need to with being in the clouds on his Loftwing all the time back on Skyloft and so he never rlly adapted to that even on the surface lol
He's also just miserable at doing a decent knot so you've taken to teaching him repeatedly how to tie them-
why didnt the knight academy help with this at all actually??
(Wind makes fun of him be hes a sailor and knows like 10+ knots)
Four (Four Swords/Minish Cap Link):
Loses his tools constantly
Well not really "lose" so much as "slightly misplace"
It drives him crazy, the Minish used to help him with it back in his Hyrule so he got out of the habit of putting things back where they belong
You've gotten to the point where you'll glance over wherever he's working so the next time he comes up to u complaining abt a lost hammer or smth u immediately just "should be over by the fire"
And ur right, 99.9% of the time its so funny
Bc Four's all like "wtf ive moved around so much since then i took all the other tools with me- MF. U WERE RIGHT."
Is rlly good at like color matching, comes in handy for new outfits
Also has aches and pains like in his hands and arms mostly
Bc of all the forge work, and absolutely treasures any massages u offer him
Likes to wear matching jewelry with you! Like earrings or piercings or necklaces etc
Also has good taste in jewelry and what looks good on everyone + you
Legend (Link to the Past, Link's Awakening etc):
Unfortunately the type of person to just shove things in his bag willy nilly
Its the horder tendencies, he just has a lot of stuffs so he gave up trying to organize it
Actually really good at styling hair, Legend would absolutely lie abt it if u asked but he can spend as much time on his hair as Warrior
Likes to experiment with new clothes, like skirts or bright colors, esp if they match some of his clothes already
U ran by some makeup one time in another Hyrule and he knew how to use it rlly well??
Lies abt random skills he has, or like thinks skills he already has can translate well,
like he's rode a horse before wym he can't drive Wild's motorcycle??
Or fly a Loftwing???
Well now its a challenge
Tbh most competitive over stupid things randomly out of all the Links besides Wild, Wind, Wars, and occasionally Hyrule + Sky + Time
Got challenged to try and go shield surfing with u once and thought that horse-riding skill would transfer and it did in fact Not.
Actually kinda scared the other Links watching u two spin out and crash ngl, what with doing an accidental backflip? Midair??
but u both were okay somehow???
Also weirdly lucky, u stg he's got some sort of ring or blessing for that
☆
IT ACCIDENTALLY POSTED I FUCKING HATE TUMBLR ITS DONE THIS TO ME MULTIPLE TIMES NOW 😭😭
All the Links WOULD HAVE been here if it werent for fucking tumblr
Ill post more parts soon if anyone is interested
Peace out,
🌙

Counting the Seconds
Another Commission!
They asked for soulmate au with any Link of my choice. I chose Wild.
Not LU related.
Masterlist
Content under the cut!
Waking up was a strange almost foreign experience.
His limbs were heavy and his mind was foggy. He tried to remember what happened for him to be in a pool of water but nothing came to mind.
A voice rang in his head then, feminine, clear as day- calling out to him, telling him his name and his purpose.
The climb out of the hole in the ground wasn’t easy.
It was trying to control wet, limp noodles. His legs were like jelly, shaking and struggling to hold his weight.
Getting to the light proved to be only half of the difficulty. It was bright, almost blinding. He covered his eyes with his arm as he stepped out and gasped upon the vast land before him. It was beautiful.
Was this his home? Where did he live? Or did he live in the hole this whole time? Something on his arm catches his eye. It was virtually glowing against his skin with the angle of the light. Bright and running from his wrist to his inner elbow, he pushes his torn and worn-down sleeve even higher up his bicep to get a better look at what it was.
Numbers. He doesn’t know why they’re there, but he knows they’re important somehow. They’re counting down. Seconds continue to count down and change in the slot closest to his wrist. To the left of them were the minutes, then the hours and the days.
There was something wrong with it. He didn’t know what though. The young man scratched the day slot roughly, leaving angry red lines in his wake. The number was wrong. It had to be. Right?
Was it always like this? Was this normal? He can’t remember. Was it something that only he had to deal with? Was he the only person here? Was he the only person like this?
There was suddenly an old man in front of him. Link, as he started to call him, learned more, explored more, found pants-
There were towers, shrines, and weird glowing spirit orbs he had to collect, pay, and pray. The voice called out to him again. The old man appeared to be dead and had vanished almost as instantly as he was revealed. Link’s new mission was to find a Sheikah by the name of Impa. Whatever that meant.
Finding that woman and learning of that woman’s existence proved to be two very different tasks.
He was blasted with water by giant lizard things, chased through the grasslands by a large-looking pigman thing with a non-too-friendly club, and had fallen from the cliff faces no less than one hundred times. All of which happened right before he found a very helpful and rather pain-free trail that led him straight into the village.
Seeing the sheikah slate on his hip the people of the village, which he learned were the sheikah themselves, allowed him to enter without any problems. They even so far as to point out the exact building he’d find the elder Impa. Given that it was the largest building, he would have thought it was rather obvious that was where the elder lived. But Link smiled, thanked them for their help, and said nothing else.
Upon arrival, he was greeted by a young woman closer to his age (if he had to guess) who shrieked at the sight of him.
He ignored her.
Talking to Impa was an enlightening experience. He now had a plan on how to proceed. Given that he wasn’t sure why he had felt the drive within him to continue to this course, he ignored the vast empty connections in his mind for something that felt more concrete. More real.
He could save the princess. Whoever she was. Maybe she could help him with his memories. Perhaps she was the voice he heard in his head when he first woke up.
Impa explained, not too much later after he had thought it, that the shiekah slate in his hand contained pictures that could potentially help him remember who he was and what had happened to him to get to this point. She told him to find one of the locations he had in the slate and return to her if it had succeeded or not, otherwise, she would not share any further information with him.
A test of character, he presumed. He felt confident. Completely within his skill range. Link didn’t hesitate to step up to the old woman’s challenge.
He ran straight across Hyrule Field. Something told him that it was supposed to be significant.
Coming upon a broken stone icon, he titled his head. He had looked through the photos before running out of the village. Was this one of them-?
A memory.
He’s on the ground, kneeling before the princess as he blesses him and the sword. There were others around them both, watching, witnessing the ritual they were partaking in. A bird. A large woman. A large rock-like creature and a small scaled-covered girl. He knew them too, but he couldn’t figure out how or why.
He gasps as the memory fades away. Link desperately tries to hold onto it, to grab onto the sliver of the past he knows he must have. It wasn’t a complete picture, but there was so much that he had known to be true from the thoughts that he only had to begin digging in the soft soil of his mind.
It crumbles from his grasp before anything more concrete forms.
He looks back to the numbers counting down on his arm. He hadn’t been able to see them in the memory but he knew they were there. And he knew that there was still drastically wrong with what they were showing him.
Memory and photo intact, Link rushes back to Impa, trying to make it to the safety of the village before the sun fully goes down. He is only marginally successful. Not that it mattered.
He tells Impa what he saw and she’s delighted at the news. Without further ado, she hands him a new tunic. It’s soft and blue and fits him perfectly. She gives him more information and he swears on his honor that he’s going to do whatever it takes to save the princess and stop the darkness that is plaguing the world.
He’s not sure how.
But everything in his body, heart, soul, and mind is pointing to that very goal.
Link doesn’t have plans to fail.
He looks at the spot where the numbers were. They’re covered by the sleeve now but they’re harder to forget about than he thought. Everyone else in the sheikah village had their arms covered as well. It would be awkward if he were to ask them if they had the same numbers on their arms.
He rubs the numbers and puts his arm down, turning to leave.
Impa chuckles softly, seeing him hold onto the nervous tick he developed all those years ago when she was a much younger woman. It appears not even death can change the foundation of the person.
“Link.” Impa calls to him before he can leave. “Do you know what those numbers are? Or have you forgotten about those as well?”
She knows? Link allows hope to buoy his spirits and his heart. He tells her that he doesn’t know what they are, but he thinks there’s something wrong with them.
Impa beckons him closer and tells him to remove the sleeve.
She gasps softly and smiles. “...So it was destined to be after all.”
Link isn’t sure if that’s good or bad. But he’s willing to bet that her smile means good news.
“We were worried about you, you know.” She laughs softly. “You will learn in due time if your memories come back as they should. But know this, those numbers mean the time left until you meet your soulmate. They are set by forces much stronger and wiser than us. Just keep in mind the time you have left. You will meet the most important person of your life when the timer runs out.”
When the timer runs out, Link echoes in his mind. He nods to Impa in thanks and begins his journey once more.
He was told to find the Four Devine Beasts and to free them from the Calamity’s grasp. He checks the map on his sheikah slate. The four glowing dots appear at all corners of the map. All of them are in place which he has yet to fill in. It’s likely to happen when he continues to activate the towers like the Old Man mentioned, so he decides to head to the closest one first, seeing that it’s just to the east of where he is.
From there, he thinks he’ll go counterclockwise. Work his way in a circle and all that jazz.
He barely makes it out of the village before being stopped by a strange villager on the road. They don’t appear to be sheikah but he’s certainly never seen them before. They greet him kindly enough so he’s inclined to do the same.
Until they start talking about their day, how they slept, how they woke up, and the weird dream they had. It begins to sound eerily familiar.
Darkness? Silence? A wet bed?
Link had half the mind to ask if they had merely wet the bed in their sleep before they called him by his name and disappeared in a cloud of white smoke.
They teleport behind him and begin to give chase.
Link curses his luck. Was this the Yiga the Sheikah had mentioned? Traitors to the crown and desperate to bring Ganon, their Master, back from the darkness and into the land of the light? They had planned to destroy the hero and let the Calamity take over the remaining peace and security Hyrule had to offer.
The notion doesn’t sit well with Link, and given that they think he’s the hero and thus wants to kill him, that makes them his enemy. One of which is very determined to end his life this day.
He runs out of breath and curses. He has a stick. Can he use that?
He takes a swing and hits the Yiga member, now in full uniform, across the face.
Sword beats stick easily, but Link had also been collecting enough arrows on his way to find Impa the Sheikah Elder to continue fighting for his life.
The Yiga teleports away after being hit enough times.
Link’s bow breaks right after.
He glares at it and tosses it away. He still has arrows but they’re useless until he can find a replacement bow.
He’s seen countless chests and abandoned crates around the land. One of them is bound to have the things he’ll need to fight back and survive.
He continues to go in the direction of the blinking orange dot on his map. He climbs up the first tower he can see and works his way through the puzzles of the shrines. So far, he’s managed to get through each and every one of them just fine. Link considers himself lucky that he could see at least seven from the top of the tower alone.
He’s almost excited about his progress. He thinks he’s done might well for himself. Link had managed to find more weapons and food, collecting everything he could within the slate in his possession. It was such a marvelous device. The storage capacity had no limits, it seemed.
Between the spirit orbs he’d collected and the new expansion to the map, he felt energized and invigorated to keep moving forward.
He meets fish people. They call themselves Zora. They look almost like the fish girl he saw in his memory. They tell him that their Prince is looking for a Hylian to help them with a problem back in their domain. Link listens and tells them that if he happens to meet this… Prince Sidon, he’ll be more than happy to hear what he has to say. Maybe the Prince would be able to help with his own problem in getting to the Divine Beast in the first place.
To his surprise and luck, after finding the prince and getting all the way to Zora’s Domain, they led him right to his destination of the Divine Beast anyway.
After learning what a lynel was to get the needed shock arrows and talking with the King of the Zoras, getting another memory where he remembered Mihpha, Link took off with the Prince to enter into the Divine Beast. He was instantly impressed with the size and complexity of the machinery.
Figuring out the puzzles wasn’t as difficult as he thought it was going to be. He struggled with his timing and the positioning of many of the gears and trying to learn the tools and tricks of the sheikah slate on the fly, he found the cause of the evil and eventually vanquished the blight against the zora, freeing Vah Ruta from Ganon’s control.
Mipha comes to him, saying her last words and vanishing from his sight. The sight of her causes an unknown and unfamiliar ache in his heart. He may not remember her completely but he knew that they were close once upon a time.
After he steps out of the Divine Beast, he quickly removes his sleeve, wondering if that was what the numbers were counting down to.
No. He still has over one hundred days before the timer hits zero. He sighs, letting the days take over and merely following through with the motions of his journey.
When he was done with all that needed to be done in Zora’s Domain, he headed east.
It was only after he had rushed past the laser eyes of the guardians stationed in Hyrule Field had he realized something he had missed.
He ducks behind a broken wall and sits down on the cold ground. Removing his sleeve again, he glances at the glowing numbers on his skin.
Link remembers why the number doesn’t sit well with him.
In the memory, Mipha was healing this very arm. But the numbers were much, much higher. At the time, there was a section meant to count the number of years he had left until he would meet such a special person.
The information doesn’t register as strange in his mind, so it must not have been very rare to have them. After all, many people go many years without meeting their person, he muses. But his was the only one that had entered the triple digits.
Link would have had to have waited for over 100 years to meet the person on the other side of this clock. The first case that anyone had known of. That’s why he felt like something was missing.
Vaguely, he’s aware of the echoes of thoughts from his past coming back to haunt him. He would have been alone. He would have thought he would never meet this person. He would have died years before they were born.
The thought was chilling, however, the numbers currently on his arm tell a very different story.
He was no longer waiting on the years.
Link had less than three months until they met.
It was happening. It was really happening!
Taking a deep breath, overwhelmed with the emotions in his chest from the revelation, he sets off to the bright orange dot in the corner of his map. Link spends his time activating more towers and collecting more spirit orbs as he passes through the land. He feels stronger already, more able and capable of taking down bigger and stronger foes.
This feels right. He wasn’t expecting it to get colder the closer he got to the orange dot. He wasn’t sure what sort of Divine Beast this was, but he did not appreciate being thrown through the snow and more monsters that appeared to be able to toss ice at him and freeze him in place. Not cool.
Getting there, he meets the Rito and their chief. Their Divine Beast, Vah Medoh, had also been acting up and was taking their strongest warriors out one by one.
Eager to help, Link offers his services, although the words are familiar on his tongue, the actual act of helping is a bit lost on him. He comes to a landing post of their village and is taken back in time to the past, where he was a much stronger soldier and a much more knowledgeable citizen.
Revali, was his name. The bird man.
Link gets a bitter taste on his tongue from the encounter.
He was belittled and spoken down upon. His purpose and calling were mocked and worse yet, the Rito felt the need to bring up the numbers on his arm, jeering at the idea that he would never meet his soulmate.
Link comes back to the present with a scowl on his lips and a new word in his mind.
Soulmate.
Even though the blow felt as fresh as the day he had received it, Link decides that he quite likes the word.
Moving on, Link meets Teba and while Teba was not originally fond of the young Hylian man, they quickly become a fast team, gaining up on Vah Medoh and slipping through its defenses to take it out from the inside out.
Once inside, he goes through the same motions as before, electing to ignore the voice in the background that feels the need to continue commentating on his performance. After he clears the Divine Beast of the malice and from Ganon’s control, Revali comes to him.
Link doesn’t meet him with a smile.
“So it looks like there was something you did that I couldn’t.”
How are you still this arrogant and dead? Link thinks to himself but elects to stay quiet. It’s almost over and then; once he leaves, he won’t have to deal with it anymore.
Teba was more than happy to hear that Link was successful and they both returned to the chief with the good news that Vah Medoh should no longer pose a problem for the village and the people of Rito Village.
Link decides to stay in Rito Village for a little longer, helping the people here and there with whatever they need. He also explores more of the area around the village, taking stock of the monsters and the shrines of the area. And he spends more time than he’s willing to admit merely trying out Revali’s Gale and crashing into rocks and cliff faces.
To his credit, he only needed Mipha’s Grace twice throughout it all, but that’s all he’s willing to disclose.
Link decides to head west again, saving the southernmost orange dot for later. The journey seemed to take longer to cross half to distance back than it did to get across Hyrule Field the first time. He quickly finds himself going up. Not only does the elevation go up but so does the temperature.
Link can feel himself sweating like a pig. The clothes on his back quickly begin to stick to his skin and while he can’t smell much of anything from the sheer amount of sulfur in the air, he doesn’t think he smells all that pleasant either.
He passes a small stream of lava and the light bulb goes off in his head. Oh, so that’s why he was beginning to feel like he was boiling from the inside out.
He passes a few other people and he’s tempted to start shedding layers like they had just to deal with the ever-growing heat. He takes out his outer tunic, just wanting bits of relief until he can get something to help with the heat. The numbers counting down on his arm wink back up at him. Link gasps softly and grins.
He knew that the number was going down this entire time whether he was actively looking at it or not. The seconds were constantly counting down as the passage of time went on. But to see the number move from three months or ninety days to less than sixty was like a small balloon of hope within his heart.
The minor sting of the memories of the taunts fades into what Link can only describe as excitement.
What was once an empty vessel of resignation was now a very true reality within his grasp.
Link steels his nerves and continues his ascent up the volcano. If he can just survive until then, then… then… He actually doesn’t have much of a plan for that moment, let alone after.
He shakes the thought from his head. Time will go faster the less he thinks about the clock. That’s how it’s been since the moment he woke up again. He just has to trust in the process and continue doing the work that has been laid in front of him.
Link finds himself in the middle of Goron City, woefully under-prepared for the literal flame-scape that it is.
He manages to trade off the pants and the flame-resistant armor off of some random civilian, that help him stay cool and survive in the midst of the volcano. The helmet he has to buy. Link attempted to also buy the helmet off of the man, but he was unsuccessful.
Fully docked with the needed armor, but now fully broke, Link begins to ask around and help around with the tasks around Goron City that eventually lead him to Bludo. They call him the Chief, but he quickly finds his way on the search for a young Goron by the name of Yunobo.
Together, not only do they give the needed pain meds to the elder Goron, but they team up to make their way up Death Mountain and toward Vah Darunia.
Frankly, Link finds this leg of the challenge easier than it was at the beginning. Revali’s Gale ends up being incredibly useful despite his earlier pettiness toward the bird. The fight, while a bit cumbersome to deal with, didn’t end up being too hot to handle.
Link laughs at his own joke, quickly freeing Vah Darunia and gaining another power to his arsenal, gaining more memories in the process.
Something about the Gorons lights a fire under him.
After settling all the shrines and the towers he could, he begins to use the sheikah more to his advantage. He supposes he could clear up all the map in the east and get all the corners he needs. There was that sheikah he was told to visit in a place called Hateno Village. He hadn’t gone because well… He didn’t want to.
Wasn’t that a good enough reason?
He huffs and figures that it’s better to be safe than sorry.
He’s got less than two months to kill and no one else is going to do it for him anyway.
After meeting a rather mischievous researcher by the name of Purah, who happened to be Impa’s sister of all things (he couldn’t believe they were related), he was told to go visit Robbie in the north somewhere in the Akala Region.
Link shrugs, if that’s what it’ll take to get the rest of the map filled out, then who is he to not check some things off of the list while he’s there?
In the end, he likes Robbie.
He was just as weird as Purah, maybe a little more.
But he likes him
Link collects more shrines and weapons and trades in all the spirit orbs that he has. The boost is immediate. Link can feel the strength sinking deep into the marrow of his bones. He leaves the ancient sheikah man and his much younger wife behind.
Link discovers that he can run for far longer, that hits from the Lizalfos, the bokoblins, and the occasional moblins don’t hurt as much as they used to, and that climbing doesn’t take as much out of him as it used to.
Link decides to explore some more, crossing roads with more people than he can keep track of.
He finds a horse. He names it Peanut.
He finds many more horses, names them after more inconspicuous food items, and spends a good amount of time practicing his aim with his bow on horseback.
With just one more little corner of the map to be filled, and one more Divine Beast to free, Link makes his way directly to the South West of the map.
He cheats and uses the teleportation of the sheikah slate to get as far into the land as he can get. At the top of the tower, he sees a fairy fountain and figures that it couldn’t hurt to check in on Kaysa. He had passed this tower much earlier in his journey but didn’t stay long since he had gotten lost in his attempt to reach Death Mountian.
Getting the upgrades he could afford, Link moves onward and southward. He quickly finds himself in a wasteland. Checking his map on the off chance he wasn’t going in the right direction, he finds that the location he’s in the middle of is quite literally named The Wastelands.
Correcting his course brings him into a desert. He sees a small outcropping post just in front of him, and behind it, he can see what must be the larger city. He cheers on the inside. Target Acquired.
Just beyond both settlements, he sees what must be the largest Divine Beast of the collection. It’s more than massive and he’s pulled into a memory once more at the sight of it.
After reeling from the forced emotions he experienced from the pull of the flashback, he allowed himself to calm down first and recognize that this might be different than the other Divine Beasts had gotten used to. Granted, they were all unique in their own way but he wasn’t sure how long it was going to take him just to free the machine from the cold hands of Ganon’s control.
He makes his closer regardless, once again shedding his outer layers as the sun begins to cook the earth around him, he rinses off his skin at the pool of the little oasis. Link learns that this was the Baazar. The place where men could stay and trace since they weren’t allowed in the city.
Link huffes and shakes the sand from his ears.
How was he going to get in the city then? He needs to talk to their chief to talk about the Divine Beast if he wants to have all of them freed before he even tries to go to Hyrule Castle to free the princess.
He got word that Gerudo City is heavily guarded and that the walls are taller than most are able to climb. Surely there’s someone who can get him in. He could try disguising himself, but he’s not sure that’s going to actually help him in his endeavors to get on their good graces if they’re as strong and proud as the men had made them out to be.
“Um excuse me?” A voice calls from behind him. “Are you from around here? I could use some assistance with something.”
Link perks up at the voice and turns around. He’s not a local like they seem to think he is, but he’s never going to turn down anyone who’s in need of help.
He sees you and something in his heart kicks into high gear. Link takes a deep breath, unsure where the reaction came from. He tells you that no, he’s not from around here, but he’s more than willing to be of assistance.
You gasp when you see him and your cheeks go a bit pink at the sight.
Link barely registers that it might be because he’s shirtless and dripping wet from trying to use the pool to cool off from the heat of the sun in the desert. Link smiles at you, thinking that you are actually quite cute with a blush on your face like that.
He introduces himself and stands, using his tunic to dry himself off so that he doesn’t risk getting you wet either. You return the introduction in kind and offer your hand in proper greeting as you begin to tell him what you need help with.
Link swallows the spit in his mouth. The air feels charged with... something. He’s not sure what, but perhaps he’s merely overthinking this. Maybe the heat is finally getting to him after all?
He takes your hand in a firm, but gentle grip.
Lightning shoots up both of your arms.
You both cry out in surprise and shock, stepping away from one another but not letting go of each other hands.
As if driven by instinct, Link looks down to his exposed timer on his arm. It’s all zeros.
He sucks in a breath and looks at you with wild, frantic eyes, praying that you had the same result you did.
You catch onto his gaze first, having seen his timer at the same time he did. With a bated breath, you use your free arm to shove your sleeve up, exposing your own timer on your arm. You choke on a secondary shocked shout and show your arm to him.
Also zeros.
Tears quickly gather in both of your eyes from the sheer adrenaline rush of it all.
You hug him unquestionably with a wet laugh, not caring if he isn’t fully dry yet. “This is amazing!”
Link puts his hands on your hips to hold you steady as the breath catches in his throat. He hugs you back and blinks away the tears. You don’t know what your words mean to him. He may not have all his memories back, but he knows that he had been waiting too.
You jump in his arms. “I’m so excited to finally meet you!”
“Me too.” He says softly. “I’ve been counting the seconds.”

巛—𝗥𝗢𝗟𝗘 𝗥𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗦𝗘 𝗪 𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗞—⫸
[[ knight !reader x royal !link scenarios ]]
you've been assigned to him for as long as you could remember. people have observed your bond, and it's quite obvious that you're the only reasonable match— the only one he's willing to let take care of him. you wouldn't want to change that fact either, but taking care of link comes with an unfathomable amount of responsibility. such as...
★ "put down that damn frog!"
you're the closest you've ever been to a heart attack at this point. taking the prince out on a voyage where there were monsters lurking about was the last thing you had wanted to do, but unable to resist his insistent, silent pouting, you couldn't exactly denyhim what he wanted.
he's cute when he's curious, which is everyday. you let him roam around with his large observational book, studying and taking notice of whatever shroom or flower was blooming by whatever random tree.
speaking of a tree, you figured to set up a small campsite under a large tree not too far away from the castle. there was a fire going in a pot, and the boy had been throwing random food stuff inside and hoping for the best dish to come from it. you watch with a soft smile— that is, until it deflates as you spot a few bokoblins a little too close and sigh, standing up.
"Stay here." you mumble softly, to which the boy smiles and nods, eyes glued to the way you reach up to grip the handle of your sword, pulling it up and out of its sheathe.
yoi don't take long— really you don't. the bokoblin type was blue, more than easy to take down. you don't even break a sweat until you begin walking back to the tree, only to feel your breath hitch and your heart stop. that damn monster of curiosity (or, link) was holding a poor frog over the pot, probably more than ready to drop it in for Hylia knows what.
your shouting startles the boy, making him go wide-eyed and sheepish as you storm up to him. you take a second to glare before snatching the creature from his hands and setting it back into the small body of water that he was most likely snatched from.
"seriously? I was gone for five minutes." you protest.
his face goes expressive,
'it's for science!' he signs
"I know, link... you always say that." you sigh, pinching the bridge of your nose, opening your eyes to see him flipping frantically through his research book before holding it open, shoving the open page in your face.
a silly healing elixir that he had been mentioning non-stop. it was probably the reason he was so adamant about tagging along.
"yes, my liege, I know about the elixir. but if you want it so bad, why don't you just simply buy one?" you suggest, exhaustion in your voice.
his face scrunches in disgust at the idea, throwing the book down before signing again,
'too far. want to experience creating it on my own'
you look from his hands to his face, being met with his saddened eyes. if he were anyone else...
"fine..." you mumble, to which he silently celebrates, "just, not in front of me, please?"
'thank you.' he steps closer, and you smile.
'no problem'. you sign back.
* * *
★ "please be careful, my liege." you voice to the blonde prince.
he'd gladly tell you that he was fine if his hands weren't currently full. if anyone else saw how you and link interacted outside of the castle, you're sure you'd be killed for your crimes.
maybe it wasn't a good idea to let the prince of hyrule use your sword and swing it around however he pleased, but in your professional opinion— he's a natural.
"you're doing great!" you smile, shaking your head as he was caught up in his own little world. and he really was. so great that he couldn't heat a word you said. holding a weapon just felt so natural to him, and he absolutely loved it when you offered it up for him to use during leisure time.
his swings are heavy and lethal, but it's obvious to you that he isn't pacing himself. the movements are so natural that he doesn't even comprehend the strain it's putting on his body— not until his swing is stopped.
link looks down at his tightened grasp on the handle, but looseness it as he realizes that you had caught his wrist. his disgruntled expression softens significantly as he looks up at you in awe and embarrassment as you hold his wrists with one hand, and remove the handle the handle from his grip with the other.
"that's enough," tour voice rings through his head as you chuck the sword to the side, face growing serious as you keep holding his wrists, "you alright?"
he can't respond with occupied hands, and so he nods, heart pounding at your serious expression. he wonders what he's done wrong, or what should be wrong, until he begins to feel an ache in his back and shoulders, making him wince. you notice.
"I know that feeling... it's why I stopped you." you explain whilst removing your hands from him. "you're good, but you're straining yourself. you're not fit for that type of intensity."
he mouths a small 'oh', and you sigh, frowning as he rubs his aching shoulder.
"it's alright... I've got something to heal you right up."
the male smiles softly, nodding in appreciation. you were always taking care of him like this. but your encouragement for him to get a little rough and rowdy is why he liked you so much. though you wanted him safe, you weren't constantly sheltering him. he hated that.
he taps your shoulder, to which you turn to him,
'sorry.'
you smile and shake your head, "don't apologize. you did really good my liege. wonder what you'd be like as a knight, actually." you chuckle.
he smiles back, letting the butterflies float around in his tummy.
* * *
★ "what do you think you're doing?"
you felt like you've done this... a lot. for the umpteenth time, you've caught the prince walking around the castle grounds, barefoot, and draped in a softened blanket as he attempts to protect himself from the nighttime breeze.
the look he gives you is one of disappointment as he thinks you're going to take him back inside, but he's pleasantly surprised when you shake your head and simply rest a hand on his shoulder, guiding him forward.
"Don't worry...I'll sit with you."
he smiles, clutching the blanket tighter. beyond the wall, he can spot the swaying of the grass, the wispyness of the clouds in the deep blue sky, and the stillness of the ancient guardians that settled into the ground. he truly loves his kingdom, and you can see it true. he walks until he reaches a spot that makes it easy to see the vast land and takes a seat on the edge of the castle walls.
"this is nice..." you sigh as you sit beside him
he nods, and your eyes glance over to him incase he's ready to talk back. and he does:
'I think I enjoy nighttime the best.' he signs, glancing between you and the beautiful view amongst him, 'sometimes, i think about running. I want to explore.'
you heart aches
"I know, my liege... I'm sorry you feel trapped." you whisper
to your surprise, he laughs softly, shaking his head, 'not trapped... just hidden potential'
you smile. such a purse and positive response. his head turns to face you, eyes so blue that you can't help but observe them thoroughly. he scoots closer beside you, careful, as to not fall, and rest his head on your shoulder.
"I think..." you wrap his blanket around him tighter, "I think we were definitely meant to be this way, my liege." you whisper, and watch as his eyes flutter shut
but not before he nods in agreement, and your heart tate spikes at what he says next.
his hands don't communicate, no. nit this time. instead, you're blessed with a sound ao angelic, so soft that you'd dread if you accidentally missed it.
"I think so too..." he whispers.

BotW Link x Lynel Hunter! Reader
I think we as a community are sleeping on the fact that BotW is a post-apocalypse. The settlements are few and far-between, most NPCs we meet on the road are being attacked by monsters, and more than one quest is a villager asking for help because they can’t deal with Calamity Ganon’s forces. So, what if Reader had to grow up in that world? How would they deal with the horrors? TW: mentions of death and disease, canon-typical violence
The world was broken. It had been broken long before you had been born. The dark clouds hanging over Hyrule Castle, the wandering machines, the monsters– all merely symptoms of the sickness plaguing the land. The elderly would occasionally tell you of a time before. When there was a princess and a knight. Champions to watch over the people.
Whoever they were, they had failed.
Growing up, your little town was relatively safe. Monsters didn’t venture too close, but they were always too close for comfort. The forest just below your village was home to more than a few Bokoblins and Moblins, not to mention the giant structure some other monsters had cobbled together just over the horizon. It was almost comical, how much their little fort looked like a tree house. But they were not to be trifled with.
Then the clouds over the castle got darker… and the monsters more numerous. Your quaint little village became less and less safe. Traveling to the next village over, which used to be relatively safe, if a bit stressful, was practically a suicide mission now. It would have been okay, you think, if nothing else had happened.
But then people got sick.
Really sick.
Maybe it was another curse of the land. Maybe it was punishment from the goddesses. Whatever the case, people were dying. You were lucky; you were still young when you got sick. A few weeks of shivering, coughing, sweating, and crying later, and you had the strength to get out of bed. Your parents weren’t as lucky. You took care of them as best as you could, but you could still hardly reach the stove to boil water for dinner.
You still aren’t sure which was worse: burying them that spring, or waiting all winter for the ground to thaw.
The rest of the adults fared about as well. Eventually, the sickness burned itself out. Nobody left to infect. Over the course of a year, you had become a village of orphans. The children who survived were weak, but did their best to put the pieces back together. But it quickly became apparent you didn’t have enough supplies. The gardens had been planted too late. The monsters were getting closer.
With no other options, you hugged your friends goodbye and set out on the road, praying to the merciless goddess that you would make it to the next village. That was years ago.
You snapped out of your own thoughts, focusing instead on the task at hand: the hulking beast that had been threatening the local Zora. The damned thing had electric arrows. It was almost like the beast had been perfectly selected to threaten the city below.
No time to think about what kind of divine wrath had placed it here. It swung its sword, and you jumped out of the way just in time. It swung again and you flipped over the blade. The monster roared, its mouth beginning to glow with flame.
Perfect.
You quickly take out your bow, firing an arrow directly at the thing’s face. It slumped forward, temporarily stunned. You ran forward, plunging your blade into its head. The creature let out a horrible death cry before collapsing into a pile of black goop and purple smoke.
“Stay dead, you stupid Lynel.” You kick the last of the black sludge, scattering it in the grass. You know it’s unlikely. It’s only a matter of time before another Blood Moon brings it back. But for now, the Zora should be safe.
You start walking back down the mountain, pulling your hood closer to shield from the pouring rain, but it’s no use. Vah Ruta’s rain was inescapable. You watch your footing as you walk, the muddy ground slippery beneath your feet. Perhaps it would be best to stay the night at the inn in Zora’s domain.
Glancing up, you’re surprised to see another Hylian. His armor makes him look like a Zora. He seems equally surprised to see you. You suppose you are covered in Lynel guts. You give him a polite wave, making a mental note to bathe before checking into the inn. He gives a hesitant wave back. You turn, continuing your path down the mountain.
At the inn, you hear the Zoras excitedly gossiping. Apparently, the centuries-dead princess’ lover had returned. Thinking nothing of it, you pay for a bed and set out at first light. Curiously, there was no rain that day.
The next time you see him is a few weeks later. You had been tracking a Lynel, this time near the base of Mount Lanayru. It manages to get a few good hits on you before you take it down. As you patch yourself up, making sure to stay out of sight of the Lizalfos in the area, you feel the ground beneath you shake. Looking at the mountain, darkness seems to erupt from it, spewing down the sides and straight towards your location. As it nears, you realize it’s not darkness– it’s a dragon, flying down the mountain at breakneck speeds. It’s covered in slime and eyeballs. You watch as the young man, around your age, dives off a nearby cliff and takes aim, hitting the goop. The dragon flies back up the mountain, and he lands near where you sit. Well, land is a strong word. He folds up his paraglider and just kind of.. faceplants into the dirt.
He looks at you. He looks at the Lynel bits still covering the ground. He looks back at you. You raise an eyebrow at him. Looking at him now, you can see his face and arms are covered in scars. Well, maybe scars wasn’t the right word. It looked like half his body had been burnt by a guardian laser and healed. His clothes were absolutely filthy, to say nothing of the smell.
He looks like he’s about to say something, but the dragon roars, snapping his attention back to it. He sprints after the beast, trying to hit the goop with an arrow once again. You decide to leave the dragon to the professional(?) and begin the long hike to the nearest village. If you hurry, you might make it before dark.
Hateno was surprisingly nice. The dye shop guy was… a bit strange. And apparently there was a mad scientist living up the hill. But other than that, it was nice. It almost made you wish you could stay. But you had things to do.
“Two arrow bundles, please.” You tell the shopkeeper. As you pack them in your bag, you hear the door behind you open. The shopkeeper greets the new customer. You look up. It’s the crazy guy that fought the dragon. He was sporting multiple new bruises and cuts across his face and arms. Before you can think, you blurt out “Dude, what happened to you?”
“Uhhh, sledding accident?” The blond scratches the back of his head nervously.
“Oh, that’s our Link!” The shopkeeper laughs, bundling up the newcomer's purchase and handing it to the boy. “He goes away for weeks at a time and comes back with the craziest stories. Did you know he’s gone to Hyrule Field?”
“Isn’t that place a death trap? There’s guardians everywhere.” You look at this ‘Link’ guy. He looks like he weighs four pounds soaking wet with shoes on. Definitely not someone you would imagine taking on a guardian. Then again, he apparently survived his encounter with the dragon on Lanayru.
“I mean, it was a bit tricky. But once you have the right equipment, it’s pretty easy to reflect the lasers back at them.” He smiles awkwardly under your gaze.
“Reflect the lasers back at them?” You cross your arms, unconvinced. “They break most shields in one hit. Two if you’re lucky. What kind of equipment could you possibly have to deal with them?”
“Just my shield.” Link looks puzzled. “I got it from inside the castle. Maybe it’s made better than the shields you’ve been using?”
“I’m sorry you went INSIDE the castle?” You scoff. “Nobody goes in there and makes it out. Hardly anyone even makes it to the gate.”
“Well, I did.”
“I’ll believe it when I see it.” You roll your eyes. This guy sure was full of it. Sure, he had shot a dragon. But there was no way he had been inside the castle. The darkness inside. The monsters roaming everywhere. It was simply impossible.
“Fine.” Link suddenly grabs your arm, clearly annoyed. You don’t even have time to react as he pulls a device from his hip and hits the surface. You see a light surround you and suddenly you’re standing on a circular platform. There’s some sort of structure behind you. But that’s not what has your attention. The field in front of you, dotted with small patches of trees…
“What the HECK?” You exclaim, twisting out of his grip. “How are we at Hyrule Field? It’s days away from Hateno!”
“Magic?” He shrugs, and you can feel your blood pressure rising. “Anyway, wait here. I can take you back after I show you.” He takes off sprinting into the field.
“What the– ARE YOU INSANE!?” You yell, but he’s long gone. You watch where he disappeared for a few moments. Did he just leave you here? Okay, surely there wouldn’t be too many guardians between here and the road. There were enough trees you could hide behind, if need be. Just as you’re about to walk away, you see Link sprint out of the tree line.
With a guardian hot on his tail.
He waves excitedly at you as the machine powers up its laser. Welp, that settles it. This guy is clinically insane. Carrying his corpse back to Hateno would be impractical, but the village would surely appreciate some memento. Maybe after the guardian leaves you can take his sword? Or that tablet he had at his hip? You watch as the guardian fires at him. He holds up his shield… and the laser bounces off, hitting the ground a few feet away from you. The guardian fires again, and this time Link swings out his arm as the laser connects with the shield. The robot explodes.
“See!” Link runs over to you, ignoring the pile of guardian pieces. “Believe me now?”
Your jaw is still on the floor. Snapping your mouth closed, it takes a moment for you to process what you just saw. He killed a guardian. He killed a GUARDIAN. Which means he wasn’t lying about going inside the castle.
“You’re insane.” You laugh, finally able to speak. “How are you not dead, yet?”
“What can I say? I’m simply that good.” He puffs his chest out, clearly proud at proving his abilities to you.
“I saw you faceplant while fighting that dragon.” You giggle as his shoulders droop.
“Right. You saw that.” Blush creeps up his cheeks, dusting them a very cute shade of pink. Suddenly, he gets a confused look on his face. “Wait. What were you doing there?”
“There’s a Lynel that lives near the base of the mountain.” You shrug, as if that’s an explanation. Link waits for you to say more, but you don’t. Instead, you start walking southwest. You’ve got a vague idea of where you are, and you have a job to do.
“W-wait!” He yelps. When you don’t stop walking he falls in step beside you. “I can take you back to Hateno. You don’t have to walk.”
“Nah.” You wave your hand. “I’ve actually got stuff to do in the area. You saved me some travel time with your… whatever that was.”
“Like what?” He tilts his head, curious.
“Like that.” You stop walking. In front of you is a bridge, and beyond that, a giant colosseum. The walls are half-collapsed, and a black goopy substance clings to parts of the exterior.
“You’re not going in there, are you?” He looks worried.
“Of course I am.” You drop your bag, knowing it would slow you down too much.
“Umm, I would advise against that? There’s a bunch of monsters inside, and I’m not saying you can’t handle yourself, but it’s just that-” You ignore him and walk into the arena. The Lynel notices you almost immediately and brings its weapon down on the ground, sending a shockwave out in all directions. You backflip out of its range just in time, knocking an arrow as you do so. Before you land, you fire, hitting the beast directly in the face. It roars and rushes towards you, but you step out of the way just in time. You can feel yourself falling into the familiar patterns. Dodge. Strike. Parry.
The beast falls without much fanfare. It simply dissolves into darkness, like all the others do. You turn to collect your bag, and see Link, his mouth hanging open like a fish.
“You can close your mouth, pretty boy.” You chuckle as he snaps his jaw shut. “Why do you look so surprised? You killed a guardian not even ten minutes ago.”
“That was awesome.” He has stars in his eyes. You walk down the road and he follows behind you. “How did you learn to do that?”
“I’ve been doing it for years. Just trial and error. And a lot of healing potions.”
“Years?” He seems surprised. “You can’t be much older than me.”
“What is this? An interrogation?” You roll your eyes.
“Sorry. It’s just–” he pauses, and you can see the blush creep back up his cheeks. “I’ve hardly seen anyone on the roads. And when they do travel, half the time I have to save them from Bokoblins. And you handled that Lynel like it was nothing.”
“Yeah, most people don’t travel, genius.” You wave your hand dismissively. “Too many monsters nowadays. Have you been living under a rock or something?”
“Uhh, not necessarily.” He looks confused. “Maybe? Technically?”
“Do you really not know?” You look him over. He seems well-traveled, if a bit dirty.
“Know what?”
“Dude, where have you been in the past couple of years?” You turn around, pointing towards the castle as you walk backwards. “Couple years ago, the clouds around the castle started growing. The elders all told us it was a bad omen. Course, nobody paid attention until the monsters started multiplying. The towns got less safe. And Blood Moons started happening.”
“Oh. It hasn’t always been like this?”
“Nah. When I was a kid traveling between towns was relatively safe.” You turn back around and look towards the setting sun. Crap. You hadn’t realized how late it was getting. You weren’t going to make it to the stable in time.
“So the monsters are getting stronger?” Link glances back at the castle. There’s something in his gaze you can’t quite decipher.
“Yeah. And bolder. Used to be they wouldn’t get too close to settlements. Now they’ll set up camp within sight of village gates.” You shrug.
“Then why were you going after Lynels? They don’t go near towns. I’ve only ever seen them in the wild.”
“Those places weren’t always in the middle of nowhere. Lynels are super territorial. If their numbers aren’t controlled, they’ll fight over territory and drive each other closer to villages.” You veer off the path, deciding this patch of trees would be good enough to rest by. The skeletons that rose from the ground were too much of a hassle to deal with. And you were tired.
“Why did you start hunting monsters, though?” He follows you into the small forest.
“Why do you ask so many questions?”
“Sorry.”
“My turn.” You sit cross legged on the ground, leaning your head against your arm. “How come you didn’t know the monsters were getting worse? You from overseas or something?”
“No. I’m from Hyrule.” He puts up his hands defensively. “I’ve just been in a coma for… a while.”
“Coma? Dang.” You pull some food out of your bag and offer some to him. He takes it. “Well, I’m not sure how things were before you went under, but now we have a little something called personal hygiene. You should try it out sometime.”
You laugh and he looks down at his clothes, as if only now realizing how filthy they are. He raises his arm and sniffs.
“I don’t smell that bad, do I?” he asks.
“Like an Octorok ate you and spit you out.”
“Aw, man.” His shoulders slump, and you have to suppress a giggle.
“Don’t worry, man. It’s nothing some soap and water can’t fix.” You smirk and take a bite of your food. It’s not the greatest, but it’s one of the few foods that travel well.
“I guess. I’ve been so busy I guess I hadn’t noticed.” He grimaces and takes a bite of his own portion. His frown deepens, but if he has an issue with your food he doesn’t say anything.
“Busy with what?” You ask. “Fighting dragons?”
“I was freeing that dragon, thank you very much.”
“Freeing it from what? This life?”
“No!” Link crosses his arms. “I was shooting Ganon’s Malice off it. Now it’s free and can fly around, just like Dinarri and Farosh!”
“Ganon? Don’t tell me you believe those fairy tales.” You snicker. He doesn’t seem to find it funny.
“Fairy tales?” He looks offended. “Calamity Ganon is in the castle right now! Zelda’s been sealing him for the last century!”
“Sure. And Santa comes down your chimney each year.” You scoff.
“How can you not believe me? There are still people alive who remember the calamity!” He’s yelling now. He sure did take it personally.
“Those are just stories grandparents tell kids to get them to behave.” You make your hands into claws, as if telling a spooky story. “You know, ‘Ooh you better eat your vegetables or else Ganon will get you!’”
“What about the champions? Don’t tell me you think they’re fake, too!”
“Of course they existed. I’ve been around Zora’s domain. I know their princess died in Vah Ruta or whatever.” You shrug. “The royal family lost control of their robots and tons of people died. The champions failed to protect their people and perished like almost everyone else. But that’s history.”
“DON’T TALK ABOUT THEM LIKE THAT!” Link slams his hands down and lean towards you threateningly. You lean away, shocked by his outburst. His expression softens as he backs away. His next words are whispered, almost too quiet to hear. “They were heroes. They gave their lives to stop Calamity Ganon. We never could have predicted he would take control of the divine beasts and guardians.” He pushes the bangs out of his face, ruffling his hair in the process.
“I’m sorry ‘we’???” You’re not sure what he’s on about.
Link doesn’t look at you. His bangs fall back in his face, covering his eyes. Without meeting your gaze, he unsheathes his sword.
“Is that–?” You don’t finish your question. The sword has a faint glow, but you can also feel the pure power radiating off of it. There’s only one sword that could be. But that was just a story. A myth that came about after the world fell apart 100 years ago. Surely, this was a trick. Or a strange coincidence?
No. Don’t be foolish. The proof was right in front of you.
Link swings the sword around, putting it back in its sheath. He stands up without another word.
“Hey-!” You jump up. He starts walking away, back to the road, and you need to jog to catch up to him. “Wait up! You can’t just drop that info and leave!”
“I’ve got stuff to do.” He says coldly.
“Yeah, no shit!” You can’t believe it. This was the hero everyone said had failed 100 years ago? Where had he been all this time? Why wasn’t he vanquishing evil or whatever? “If you’re the hero, castle’s in the other direction, my guy! Rescue the princess or whatever and the monster problems we’ve been dealing with will clear up.”
“It’s not that simple.” His hands ball into fists.
“Uhh, pretty sure that blade’s supposed to defeat Calamity Ganon. Go in. Slice his face. Problem solved.”
“I can’t do that yet.” He groans.
“Why not? You’ve got the sword. I saw you fight a dragon and a guardian.” You motion towards the place he had fought the guardian. It’s out of sight now, a few hills between you and the fallen machine, but your point still stands.
“I died! Okay?” Link points to the great plateau. Its cliffs cast a dark shadow in the moonlight. “I spent a century in the Shrine of Resurrection recovering from my last fight against Calamity Ganon. I still haven’t recovered all of my missing memories from before! Without the Divine Beasts, there’s no way I’m winning.”
“Is that what you were doing at Zora’s domain the first time I saw you?” You gasp. “You’re the reason Vah Ruta stopped spouting water everywhere!”
“Yes? Now if you’ll excuse me, I have two more Divine Beasts to free.” He walks faster down the road, trying to put distance between you two. You match his pace.
“You’ll be going after Vah Naboris, right? The Gerudo Desert is this way.” He doesn’t respond. You keep talking. “I don’t usually go into the desert, but some of the Gerudo keep me updated on the Lynels living in the mountains over there. Vah Naboris has been kicking up a sandstorm. With lightning. The only way to get close to it would be to use the Gerudo chief’s lightning-proof hat.”
“Great. I’ll do that.”
“You’ll be turned away at the gate. Gerudo only let women in their city.” You smile smugly. “Let me help.”
“What? Why would I want your help?” Link side-eyes you. “You called my friends and me failures.”
“Yeah, sorry about that.” You wince. “But what you’re doing is going to save Hyrule. No more Blood Moons. No more monster attacks. Let me help.”
He’s silent for a long time. You continue walking with him. Then, he smiles. He’s not quite sure why, but you remind him of someone.
“Goddesses, you’re stubborn. Fine.”

The sun warms the skin of your rosy cheeks as it pours from the canopy of leaves overhead. The woods smell of fresh earth as it had just rained prior, allowing the cool air to kiss your nose sweetly.
You've forgone your constraining heels, deciding to go bare foot as you race through the forest, hoping to find a rare herb whose blooming window now only opened.
If you miss such an opportunity, the herb won't bloom until a couple moons later. Such a thought causes you to huff as you continue running, hoping to out run your knight who seems keen on following you.
Besides your soft pants, you hear your assigned knights heavy footfalls. Odd, you think as his foot steps are always so light.
Breaking from the tree line, the morning sun paints you in a golden glow that warms you up, chasing away the chill that was starting to settle in your limbs. You hear the footfalls come closer and you start your sprint once more, being careful with running on a fallen log that acted as a bridge over a small ravine.
"Your highness!" A voice calls out, the familiarity of his voice causes a slight upturn of the corners of your lips.
You're halfway on the large log before you meet sky blue eyes that remind of you clear, cloudless skies that you oh so adore. His cheeks are slightly flushed, his hair windswept from the run from the castle to the forest you've forced him to endure, and yet, his eyes remain kind.
"Ser Link," You hum thoughtfully, borderline coy. "Kind of you to finally join me."
You see Link's nose scrunch slightly, such a small twitch would've gone unnoticed if you haven't been paying close attention as your knight never seems to break character.
Always it seems that he chooses to keep a tight lipped mouth, his face stern, his body rigid as to alway be prepared, and yet, his eyes are such an endless pool of blue that you can read quite well—more likely are allowed to—and only with you, he seems to talk, his words always so soft and endearing.
Even if you cause trouble, like now, where he's to chase after you, or if you were to endanger yourself accidentally, it is never anger or frustration you see in his bluebell eyes, but always worry.
"It's dangerous." His words are curt, yet there's a slight furrow to his eyebrows that will go unnoticed by many. But you aren't like most people, you catch on quick when it comes to his tells and his eyes-
Stars, they're filled with an apparent worry that guilt starts tugging at your soul.
You swiftly turn, resuming your dash to the other side as a flash of lavender and your eyes widen as you see a superbloom of armoranth, a rare commodity even for the likes of the nobility and imperial family as well.
"Princess!" Link calls out worriedly but your feet is already touching the soft grass on the other side of the ravine and only after a few steps away from the log, you turn.
Your eyes widen as you see Link hurriedly crossing the makeshift bridge, his sword strapped to his back as his arms a somewhat raised to help him balance on the log as he hurried to you. His lips are pursed cutely, the furrow between his brows deepening and becoming apparent. Such a sight causes you to smile widely as a sweet laugh tumbles from your lips, being unable to hold it back.
Link's eyes widen as his head snaps quickly to your direction as he stumbles off the log slightly and onto solid ground. You're kind enough to quickly grab ahold of his hand to keep him steady and even kinder to reduce your cackles to soft giggles.
"You must be careful now, Ser Link, I don't want you tripping again." You tease softly as you give him a sweet smile and your knight looks gobsmacked at the sight.
You cough slightly, snapping Link out of his daze before he drops to one knee, keeping your hand in his in a firm yet soft grip that allows you to pull away if you so desire to. He's quiet as his eyes become somewhat sad and you feel bad for teasing him and keeping such a nonchalant facade with him.
┊ ੈ✩‧₊*°࿐ྂ
Palace politics and the nobility were unkind, you and Zelda having not been spared from it as the sole heirs to Hyrule. Having been assigned knights against both of your wishes, Zelda was rightfully angered, feeling more constrained by your father's decision.
In a fit of anger, she had urged you to rebel against your knight as you also shouldn't be controlled even more. You sighed, silently promising yourself that you'd be polite to your knight while trying to maintain a facade of indifference to your knight in hopes of quelling your sisters unhappiness.
It was only when Zelda's showcase of her displeasure and unfair treatment directed towards her knight became so blatant that you are reminded to maintain your promise to yourself to treat your own knight with grace.
You recall of the times Link had saved you from your own stupidity so selflessly and without regards to his own safety and it pushes you to soften your cold facade with your knight as he too is only fulfilling his purpose, a royal guard bound by the king's order whose words is absolute.
After arguing with your father about the medical treatment regarding those affected by a sudden winter blight, or therefore lack of, you stormed out of the throne room in anger.
You then callously snapped at Link for no reason as he simply followed you as he usually does to your quarters. In the heat of your frustration, you became blind to his sky blue eyes faltering, hurt flashing through them briefly.
Later that night, going against your father's orders and not informing Link, you sneak out of your room and into the Applean forest. The said forest is a great deal of distance away from the castle but you had caught wind of a great deal of herbs growing there that would effectively help combat the effects of the blight.
Bundling them a handful in a small cloth, you scolded yourself for your harsh words to your knight and promised to make a healing balm composed of the herbs to give to Link as an apology, and to hopefully turn a new leaf as well.
But as you are starting to make your way out of the forest, a loud squeamish squeal rips through the air and your blood chills. From the corner of your eye, you see the red skin of a bokoblin wielding a wooden club.
Chastising yourself for not bringing Link with you, you break into a sprint, the beast giving chase. Breaking out of the the tree line, your heart pounds against your chest but as you gain a decent distance between you and the bokoblin, a chilling sound of a guardian focusing its laser causes your heart to drop.
You look up swiftly, seeing the reddish glow of a guardian going on the offense due to detecting an enemy. A malfunctioning one, Zelda had mentioned some defects. You cursed, biting your bottom lip anxiously as the bokoblin closes in on you and the guardian prepares to fire its beam.
You berate yourself for your unkindness towards Link in your last moments with him and you are forced to come to terms with your untimely death.
Time seems to slow and just as you see the laser make its away to you, a firm yet gentle arm wraps around your waist as your back lands against something solid and warm. The smell of sweet spearmint and earthy pine fills your nose and your body slackens in relief as you recognize this scent—his scent.
"Link." You murmur softly as you turn your head, bearing witness to his skills that rivals none in the kingdom.
He quickly brings the Hylian shield you had gifted to him during his knighthood ceremony and quickly parries the guardian beam causing the large tank of ancient tech to combust immediately before Link tears his arm away from you, choosing to draw his sword and making a quick work of the bokoblin.
Time between you and Link seems to stand still as you stare at his back. Guilt consumes your heart, you worried him horribly this time. Stars, if anything had happened to you, they would've punished Link and ultimately put his head on a pike.
You open your mouth to profusely apologize but Link is quick to bend the knee in front of you, his eyes never leaving yours and you feel horrible when you bear witness to the clear stress and worry swimming in his eyes.
Link gently grasps your hand, squeezing softly that doesn't hurt you in anyway that seems to reassure himself that you're safe and real. "I-.. I know you despise me for restricting your freedom, but please- please, next time if you wish to go out, please take me with you so I am to safeguard you from harm." He looks away, lips pursed softly as his eyes become sullen.
By some instinct—an urge—you cup his face, softly easing him to look at you in the eye once more. You're to speak yet the earnest look in his eyes forces any words to die on your tongue and you're taken off guard with how kind and true your knight is.
"Ser Link, I'm sorry for making you feel as if I despise you. In truth, I don't hate you at all, yet despite that, my actions showed you otherwise, and for that, I apologize. I apologize for snapping at you earlier, and I'm extremely sorry for worrying you with my stupid stunt tonight."
His eyes widen softly, the stars gleam from overhead making them twinkle and the sight seizes your breath. "I'm sorry, Ser Link, for everything." You murmur softly, bowing slightly.
A gentle squeeze to your hand encased in his brings your attention back to him. Your eyes widen from the sight in front of you, your heart stuttering and breath hitching ever so slightly as you see a small smile grace Link's face. He then leans further to place a soft kiss to the back of your balm, his honest eyes never straying from yours.
┊ ੈ✩‧₊*°࿐ྂ
Guilt ebbs away at your psyche once more as you recall that you've never apologized for your constant indifference towards him and have actually kept it up.
A grimace itches at your face, "I'm sorry, Ser Link, for the incessant teasing." You sigh meekly, your thumb mindlessly rubbing back and forth on Link's gloved hand.
His eyes widen slightly and you hate yourself even more at the implications—stars, of course he doesn't expect a sincere apology from you as you've gone up and ditched him the second time since the guardian incident!
His reaction bothers you more knowing that the reason why you've began to avoid your knight was because of the constant skips your heart would make whenever you and Ser Link interacted.
Stars, he is your knight and you a princess, never mind your reputation, you'd only sully his and make him a court fool in front of the nobility if you're to pursue him-
You lose yourself to the brewing storm in your mind and ever the observant knight he is, Link notices how your eyes become sullen. He gently squeezes your hand, a move you've become familiar with, and it works as your attention moves back to him.
"Princess, I've no need to forgive you for something that doesn't upset me. I- I'm just glad that you've begun to talk to me comfortably." He murmurs softly and you will your heart to not skip a beat because stars-
His eyes are so blue—an endless sea of honesty and softness that you've come to realize that he's granted only you the privilege of seeing—and the sight has your heart pounding.
A small smile tugs on your lips, "It is one of the many things I can do to make up for how cold and indifferent I've acted towards you, Ser Link." You purse your lips, looking away and Link sees how truly sorry your are in your eyes.
He squeezes your hand once more to get your attention on him once more and the pained smile on your face tugs at his heart strings. "I've constantly taken advantage for your unwavering loyalty, Ser Link. I'm-"
Stars, it truly is upsetting. He is only doing what he is ordered to by your father and you punish him nonetheless? How unkind and unjust for you to treat him like that-
How cruel can you be to someone so innocent in royal affairs? The thought is chilling and it overwhelms your control over your emotions.
A choked gasp leaves your lips as he sees your eyes glaze over with unshed tears. Link is quick to rise, his body moving closer as he patiently waits for your signal.
You catch on and nod despite being unaware of his intentions. Yet from the honest look in his eyes, you realize that you trust the man in front of you wholeheartedly. "I'm sorry for every wrongdoing I've committed against you." You mutter, looking away from him in shame.
Link's hands gently cups your face, and like on the night of the guardian incident, he mimics what you had done and makes you look at him in such a gentle manner that intensifies the ache in your chest.
Your lips are pursed, eyebrows furrowed in guilt, and Link smiles softly to ease your worries. You melt, cheek leaning into his hand as he gently caresses your cheek with the soothing motions of his thumb.
Beautiful. Absolute stunning. Link finds the thought at the forefront of his mind as he looks at you.
"It's okay, princess. Just promise me that you'll allow me to stay by your side." Link murmurs, eyes looking into yours with such a softness that could make you melt even further.
You bring up your hands to cup his as the sweetest smile gracing your face sends his heart racing. "I promise, Link."

small bite | (botw) link x reader
synopsis | reader gets cute agression and bites link
word count | 624
note | two posts in one day is insane but sorry i’ve fallen into a rabbit hole ever since totk came out so have another blurb!! 😣 first time writing for link so idk how i feel about it 💔 (also yes i just did one for inumaki i like the idea leave me alone)
The campfire made crackling sounds as Link fed it more logs. The sun had set long ago, the moon rising to take its place and casting a white glow across the land. The two of you had been traveling for a long time without breaks, so when you suggested that the two of you should rest for the night, Link offered no complaints. You were tired, the horses were tired; a break would benefit everyone.
You sat on the ground, far enough away so you wouldn’t get burned but close enough to still feel the warmth of the fire. Link took a seat right next to you on the floor, holding up mushroom skewers with a grin.
“Seriously? We just ate not too long ago.” You laughed, accepting the skewer nonetheless.
The two of you ate in comfortable silence, enjoying the small dinner Link had made (though, to be honest, you know he’ll make more, his stomach is like a void that never gets full). Finishing your skewer, you close your eyes, basking in the ambiance of the night. Somewhere in the distance, there was a cricket chirping. The grass tickled your legs as a small breeze passed through, making you shiver. It’s moments like this that give you hope for a new life after Ganon is defeated. Soon, you’ll have peaceful nights like this every day.
A rustling sound brings you out of your thoughts. Turning to look at Link, you noticed him preparing another skewer. You hold back a laugh, knowing you were right. Link hears you nonetheless and raises an eyebrow, almost as if saying, ‘What?’. You wave him off, a small giggle managing to escape. “It’s nothing, you keep eating.”
Link rolls his eyes, but you don’t fail to see the small smile growing on his lips. It’s not often that you get to see it, but he has a really nice smile. You wish you had the Sheikah slate right now to capture it.
In this moment, you can’t help but admire how beautiful he is. The light from the fire gave his sun-kissed skin a golden glow. His eyelashes are long, something you’ve commented on several times while on your journey together, casting shadows against his cheeks. Actually, his cheeks are unusually round today.
You’re tempted to squish them.
Silently debating whether or not to squish, you figure he wouldn’t mind. He does it often to you; this is only fair. Link turns to look at you as you lean in, half expecting you to kiss him, but instead you cup his cheeks. He gives a confused hum as you gently squish them for a few moments.
Slowly, you begin to pull him close to you. Now, Link thinks, now is when you give him a kiss. To his surprise, you bit his cheek. He doesn’t pull away; he just silently sits there as you bite his cheek.
When you pull away, Link is sitting there, confused. Link raises his skewer to you, gesturing for you to take it. This causes you to burst out laughing. “No no! I’m not hungry haha, just wanted to bite your cheek!”
“.. you sure?” Link asks, half expecting you to bite his cheek again.
“Yes, Link, I’m sure.” You laugh. You grab his free arm and wrap it around your shoulder, snuggling into his side for warmth.
Link goes back to eating, pulling you closer with his arm, still wondering where your sudden urge to bite him came from. While he was distracted, you turned to his arm that’s wrapped around your shoulder and bit his forearm. He flinches, once again caught off guard.
“If you’re hungry, please tell me.. I promise I didn’t eat everything and can make you another skewer.”
thank you for reading till the end! :D

Flowers - Link x reader
Title: Flowers - Link x Reader Words : 700+ (701)
y/n - your name
(i like to imagine Link signing, so the dialogue for him is italicized for that reason)
The light flickered through the tree leaves just outside Link’s bedroom window. You opened your eyes to find yourself laying in his bed with his arms loosely wrapped around you. You don’t quite remember how you ended up here, but you smiled, knowing he must have carried you in after you’d already fallen asleep somewhere. He was pretty good at finding you when you did. It was quite common, actually; the soft grass against your skin made it pretty easy to doze off, not to mention the countless times you’d had to make do while traveling.
Watching Link as he slept was almost like a dream. It was a rarity to see him so… still. You brushed the hair from his eyes and gently stroked his cheek with your thumb. He looked so handsome when he slept. Not to say that he wasn’t already handsome, but with the Calamity finally being over, he just looked so at ease.
As you lifted up to get out of bed, his grip on you tightened. But, he was still sound asleep, lightly snoring. You giggled softly at him, untangling yourself from him to get up and make yourself some tea.
You headed downstairs and peeked out the kitchen window. There was Bolson and Karson, sitting where they usually sit in the yard. You figured they had just gotten back from visiting with Hudson and Rhondson. You opened the door and walked out to greet them.
“Care for some tea?” you asked.
Bolson smiled at you. “You know I would never turn down morning tea.”
You went back inside to get the kettle and some cups and headed back out. The three of you sat in the grass with your cups of tea, chatting about how beautiful the the flowers are this time of year. They were both pleased to see that you had planted some around the house.
“What kind of flowers are those, anyway?” Bolson asked.
“I was wondering the same. I don’t think I’ve ever seen them before.” Karson added.
You were happy to tell them. “They’re called ‘Silent Princess’.”
They both looked at you with a questioning expression.
“They’re pretty rare, but Link had found quite a few on his journey.” You got up and walked over to the flowers to examine them. “Zelda said that with a little help, she thinks they can be domesticated.”
“Well, they’re very beautiful.” Bolson replied, just before taking another sip of tea.
Karson was more than excited to learn about them. “Maybe we could find and plant some at our place!"
Bolson stood up, cup still in hand. “We’ll see, Karson.” He turned to you with a smile. “Thank you for tea, y/n. You’re always a pleasure to sit and chat with.”
“Yeah!”
You took the tea cups from the both of them. “Thank you. You both are so kind. Feel free to come over for tea anytime.”
“Thank you for your hospitality, as always.”
Bolson and Karson made their way toward the town, Karson waving as they left. You couldn’t help but to smile as they walked away. The both of them were a treat to have around. You went back inside, set the dishes on the counter, and headed back up the stairs to find Link still sleeping.
Gently, you crawled back into bed and wrapped your arms around him. He rolled over to face you, eyes still closed. His hair was surprisingly messier than it was earlier. You once again went to brush the hair out of his eyes. Link wrinkled his nose and slowly opened his eyes. Upon seeing you, he smiled and pulled you in to cuddle.
“Good afternoon, love.” you whispered.
He looked at you with a cheesy grin. “Hi.”
“You missed out this morning.” You started. “Bolson and Karson were here, and they really like the flowers.”
“Of course they do.” He yawned.
You giggled at his reply before turning to get out of bed again. Link grabbed your hand quickly, just before you got out of his reach. “Yes?”
“Please stay in bed.”
“Link…”
“I just want to hold you for a little while longer.” He pouted, staring at you with those blue eyes. “Please?”

★ 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐂𝐎𝐔𝐋𝐃’𝐕𝐄 𝐇𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐃 𝐌𝐘 𝐒𝐂𝐀𝐑𝐒, 𝐈𝐍𝐒𝐓𝐄𝐀𝐃 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐊𝐈𝐒𝐒𝐄𝐃 𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐌
pairing: post-botw/pre-totk link x gn!reader
wc: 575
contains: domestic fluff!!! reader washing link’s hair, me waffling on various hidden scars link might have
a/n: first time sharing my writing for link! please be kind <3
“Shh, stop fussing. I’m only washing your hair.”
You tut with dramatised disapproval, leaning forward to press a kiss to the tangled mass of golden hair in front of you. You’re met with more squirms and a hand reaching up to mess with the shampoo you had tried in vain to rub into the wet strands.
“Link, I swear to Hylia, if you don’t stop moving—”
“It tickles,” complains the royal knight, the Light of Hyrule, carrier of the Master Sword sitting in front of you, a small, tickle-induced giggle escaping his lips as you smooth the shampoo in again. You chuckle softly at the absurdity of it all. “You’ve parried Guardians with a pot lid for a shield, defeated four Blights, freed the Divine Beasts, fought Calamity Ganon — and you can’t take a little tickling?”
Soft grumbles of protest reach your ears, and you observe the pointed tips of Link’s ears grow just a tiny bit pinker than they were before. Maybe a distraction would work?
“Where did you get this scar?” You ask, gently touching your pinkie to a small, puckered indentation in the skin right where the back of his ear met his head. With your other hand, you finally rub the shampoo into his roots properly.
Link shuffles sheepishly. “Uh… I was attacked by Cucco.”
You frown in confusion. “Cuccos?”
“Hey, those things are monsters when they’re in a group,” He says defensively, trying to tip his head back to look at you. You quickly cup the back of his head, gently stilling his movements so that the shampoo doesn’t get everywhere.
Link lets out an unhappy grunt as you prevent him from moving his head and, unfortunately, from seeing you. “How much longer?”
“You’re almost done. Pinky promise. Let me take off the shampoo and put the conditioner, okay?” You dip down to kiss the Cucco scar, making his shoulders drop slightly as he relaxes.
You wash off the shampoo as gently as you can, finding another scar next to his left temple, right next to his hairline. This scar is round and a dusty, washed-out shade of maroon. More an old bruise than a scar, really. “Where’d you get this, love?”
Link is quiet for a moment, trying to remember. “I think it was a Lizalfos?”
“A what?”
“You know, those weird reptile things with the boomerangs—”
“Great Hylia.” You pause your systematic weaving of the conditioner into the thin strands and stare in concern at the back of his head. “Link, how you’re still alive after throwing yourself at practically every monster in Hyrule is beyond me.”
“In my defence, I had the Master Sword,” He gives a tiny shrug and you lean forward to kiss the scar too, making him tilt his head to one side in surprise.
“Are you just going to kiss every scar I have now?” He asks with a soft chuckle. You smile sweetly, just about starting to wash off the conditioner.
“Maybe I will, who knows?”
“Well, then,” He leans his head back before you can stop him and grins up at you, blue eyes sparkling with affection. The way he’s looking at you — like you’re the most beautiful jewel he’s ever seen — almost takes your breath away; you don’t even mind that he’s put leftover conditioner from his hair all over your lap.
“I think I have a few scars on my lips too.”

Hey! Could I request a Breath of the Wild x fem Reader before the calamity, where the reader is a princess and Link is her knight and they already have fallen for one another and then her father arranges a marriage for the reader and Link wants to run away with the reader but the reader at first doesn't think it's worth it but then Link later convinces her by sneaking in her room at night with smut?
Until You're Finally Free (BOTW! Link x Reader)
𝗔/𝗡: 𝗵𝗼𝗽𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗲𝗻𝗷𝗼𝘆!
𝗪𝗔𝗥𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚!! 𝘀𝗺𝘂𝘁, 𝘃𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝗲𝘅, 𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝗲𝘅 (𝗳𝗲𝗺 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴)
𝙒𝙖𝙣𝙩 𝙩𝙤 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙙 𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙚? ⇒ 𝙈𝙖𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙡𝙞𝙨𝙩
𝙟𝙤𝙞𝙣 𝙢𝙮 𝙙𝙞𝙨𝙘𝙤𝙧𝙙 𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙚𝙧?
𝙗𝙪𝙮 𝙢𝙚 𝙖 𝙘𝙤𝙛𝙛𝙚𝙚?
Once your favorite knight in shining armor pushed open the window leading into your bedroom, you knew you would break.
It was only a matter of time. You knew that. There was no denying it. There was no denying how you felt. No denying what you wanted deep down inside. Especially after you watched just how carefully he handled every single step as he entered your bedroom and made his way over to you. Because you could imagine the trouble he went through. Leaving his own bedroom in the guardhouse after his curfew. Sneaking past all the other guards on his way over here. Scaling your tower in the dark of the night and somehow managing to sneak through your windows all undetected. He does so much for you. He does so much for the sake of you. Because he loves you. And you love him. So, so very much.
That’s why the thought of having your hand promised to another man kills you so much inside. Link was one of the first to know. About your engagement. About how much it made your heart ache and ache and ache. But there’s nothing your Link could do about it. He could fight monsters and thieves and mercenaries and more. But he couldn’t fight your father’s decisions. He just couldn’t .
But Link reminded you of something you never knew to be true until you met him. He reminded you that you’re more than just a princess. That you deserve more than what another man wishes of you. And that you’re plenty capable of making your own decisions. You were born putting crowns on your head. Who says you have to die with them still on as well?
And so you know exactly what your father would think. You know exactly how mad he would be if he found out. But that’s if he found out. That’s if he finds you after this night. But if you’re being honest? You know he will.
But you’re not thinking about your father right now. You’re not thinking about the repercussions of your actions. You’re not thinking about how you spent a few hours sorting through your clothes and picking out some of your plainer dresses and pulling them to the side once you retired to your room for the night. And you’re not thinking about how there’s an unassuming suitcase- half full of the things you need just hiding beneath the very bed you sleep on every single night. You’re not thinking about that at all.
Instead, you’re thinking about how Link just spent a good five- no ten (or was it fifteen?) minutes beneath your nightgown, licking at your slit. You’re thinking about how he seemed so happy, so eager with his tongue. Flicking it up against the most sensitive parts of your body. And then wrapping his lips here and there as he uttered the sweetest of words between your thighs. Words that you would only hear in the romance novels you used to sneak out and steal from the library. Words that make your skin burn with arousal and your heart skip a beat or two as you tangled fingers in his hair and pulled and grabbed and enjoyed yourself in a way that was utmost unbecoming of a princess. At least, that’s what you were thinking about earlier.
Because right now, you’re a little more focused on the way he moves so softly and carefully as he pushes the rest of your nightgown up and tucks it below your chin. And he’s focused on running his hands across your body. Letting his warm fingertips run against your curves to explore. And he’s smiling as you shiver when the cool leather of her arm guards brush against your skin as he touches you more and more.
The way he looks at you- it’s so comforting. It makes everything feel so much more natural. It makes everything make so much more sense. The way he guides you in his every movement. The way he still finds the time to compliment and kiss and love every inch of your skin as his dazed eyes take the sight of you laid out for him on your bed again and again and again. The way he unconscious grinds his clothed manhood into you. Sending shocks and shivers throughout your body as you get used to the feeling of something so stiff and so hard pressing against the most precious part of your body.
And the way he very consciously pulls himself free from his trousers and aligns himself with your awaiting entrance.
You had been watching carefully. Mesmerized by the shape and the color and the size and the- well, the everything about it. But as the tip presses against your slit, giving you that first taste of what you’re about to experience, you couldn’t help but swallow nervously and flicker your eyes up to his face. But to your surprise, the man that you love more than anything else in the world…
“ Are you ready, princess?”
“Yes…my hero…”
...had never stopped looking at you.
Not even as he pushed himself into your warm, wet insides and took what was rightfully his. Not even then. Not even now.
And so, as the bed begins to creak with every thrust. And your voice starts to carry a little louder and louder with every second that passes, and you recall that you know. You know exactly what your father would think. In fact, you know what exactly he will think. How he would feel when he finds out. How mad he will be. How red his face would get. What his first orders would be. Who he would shout at first. Who he would take the brunt of his anger out on. You know exactly how it will go. But for now? You don’t think about that.
Because that’s in the future. And truthfully, you can’t tell everything about the future. No matter how well you think you know something, there’s always a chance that things won’t go how you thought they would. Besides, you’re a princess after all. Not an oracle. At least for the night.
But in the morning, who knows what the future holds. For him. For you. For each other. Because nobody…nobody- not even you will know what tomorrow has promised. Because not even you will exactly who or what you’ll be when the sun comes up. And neither Link nor your father nor anyone in the world will know. Not until the time comes. Not until the dawn breaks. Not until you decide for yourself.
Not until you’re finally free.
