Seeing so many reviews and posts like “the zombies in zom 100 are unrealistic” “the zombies don’t feel like a threat” “the zombies are only dangerous when the plot needs them to be” and like. My brothers in Christ that’s the point.

the real villain of this story isn’t the zombie virus it’s the will-breaking, spirit-killing, dream-destroying endless grind of late stage capitalism and a deeply unhealthy and isolating relationship to one’s labor. The zombies are just there to be a metaphor.

On the left is the werewolf...do I actually need to explain what a werewolf is? Can be a wolf, a person, or a larger wolf person. Normal people, but with the constant undercurrent urge to go wild. Look, all the writers do is rant about "it could be evil or maybe not OR MAYBE SOMETIMES." because they, like me, know you know what this is.

A person-sized wind elemental that's invisible outside slight visual distortion like a heat haze. To the point that the early editions just had a blank space for thier picture! Issue is that we don't actually know anything about them on thier home plane, being invisible air in an endless sky. Like yeah, they're told to kill and steal when they're forced to be here, but we only really know two things about them. They would rather be home than here, and they hate these mages who keep forcing them to be here instead of home.

The sims 4 players that are like "erm there was actually never supposed to be a sims 5, project rene was never gonna be the sims 5 and you guys shouldve known better, try being more literate, use your noodle :/" are so pretentious. For transparency's sake, I am vagueposting about a very specific individual, I do not care if they see this or not, I need to get this rant out one way or another. If you see this, you know exactly who you are because I'm quoting your silly little "use your noodle" bs.

Before I get into screenshots that come straight from EA articles (the source material this individual insisted nobody had read), I found a job listing on Glassdoor in which Maxis calls Project Rene their next-generation game:

That feels pretty damning by itself. I don't know if the person I'm vagueposting about knows, but The Sims 4 does not run on Unreal Engine 5. It runs on "SmartSim." So if the cope is supposed to be "Project Rene is actually a total engine replacement and not The Sims 5" then sure, but they do outright call it their next-generation game, so I don't know what to tell you.

The EA article screenshots say "the next evolution of The Sims," "alongside other new projects within The Sims franchise," "we'll continue to share more information on the game's development."

Goodness gracious, if I use any amount of my information literacy and my noodle especially, and if I asked any human being that has played video games as extensively as I assume we both have, referring to a project as "next-gen" and "the next evolution in the franchise" absolutely means "we're making a new game." If I walk up to a borderlands fan and say "are you excited about the next generation in the borderlands franchise?" like I'm a weird shareholder, they're gonna say yeah borderlands 4 is coming out, that's pretty cool.

Again, you're saying "they never said they're working on The Sims 5, they're working on Project Rene." I'm not even going to get into the Project Olympus being THE CODENAME for The Sims 4. Do you know what a codename is? Have you played any other game or watched any movie where, during its development, was referred to internally by a codename?

Aside from all of this, is it really completely unbelievable to you that a game development company decided to pivot on their plans? Please, be smart. It's EA. You even say they're deserving of the flak they're getting.

You are just happy that the $1200+ you spent on the game isn't "going to waste" which is already such a stupid statement because its not like releasing The Sims 5 would kill 4. As if people stopped playing The Sims 3, 2, and 1. Your saves are going to be there still. It's not going away, it's not gonna run away from you when the number 5 gets put in front of the name.
