I'm feeling like rambling about AI on main, ignore me if it's not your cup of tea.

So a while ago, I did check out those art prompts AI, because when I pester about something, I like to know what I'm rambling about. I like to do a minimum of research and, if possible, try the thing out before making my opinion. For AI art, my opinion was already pretty solid, but I still wanted to check it out.

I found a free prompt stuff online, asked it a super easy prompt, and asked for a handful of different images. Just to see.

The prompt was [character tripping]. Really. Super easy, right? I wanted the thing to have as much liberty as possible.

It's not just that though. I chose this prompt because it is something I did in art school. Our teacher would give us simple prompts, and we would have to draw doodles in 5 minutes or less. Imagine a class of 15 exhausted art students full of caffeine being told to draw someone tripping.

The 15 art students' results? Little boys tripping over tree roots, teenage girls falling while rollskating, business men tripping on their papers and burning themselves with coffee, old ladies cracking a hip, comical falls backwards with a leg up, realistic falls forward with pained expressions, etc etc.

See, our fast doodles weren't any better than AI anatomically speaking. We were missing hands and our faces were distorted and a foot was bigger than another, things that are also common with AI. But the DIVERSITY. I remember being flabbergasted by it. We all had the same prompt, but none of us drew the same thing. I remember drawing the good old banana peel slip from the old comics I read when I was a kid. My best friend drew a kid falling in mud.

We did several prompts like that as training, and I always loved to see what everybody was doing, because it was always so different.

Now, here was the AI result: 5 anime girls in a running position at an angle, making shocked pikachu faces. Every. Single. One. Of. Them. The angle and the running poses were the only things that changed, and even then just slightly.

The AI only did 5 times the same stuff. Art style changed a bit from one to the other, but always the same vibe, always the same composition, and always that godsdamned shocked pikachu face. It was very underwhelming.

I don't care about perfect anatomy and lighting. But I care about creativity. I love seeing things that I would never have thought to do myself. And the AI didn't provide that at all. Coz AI has no creativity whatsoever. If you don't further your prompt to be very specific, it will just reheat the same bland stuff again and again. It's just boring.

I have a lot of grievances about AI. Art theft, environmental blunder, artists being paid even less than they already were (as if people and companies suggesting to pay us in visibility wasn't bad enough). But even on an emotional level there's nothing. Yes, it's great to see one's character/idea brought to life when one cannot draw. But it'll be the blandest stuff ever. That's just a shame.

reverse robins damitim is so absolutely addicting to me for exactly the reason you listed!! I really love Tim suddenly needing to be more impressive to hear praise from Damian. we *know* Tim is smart and impressive, but now he's really willing to do as much as he can to hear that praise, and I like thinking about what mindset Tim must be in to be suddenly wanting that so much.

YEAH you get it. i think Tim as Red Hood would be a lot more vulnerable than Jason was, in seeking like? some sort of emotional reaction from Damian or Bruce aside from just "why is the Joker still alive". almost a sort of "could you still love me? even though i'm like this now and i can't go back?" complex for Red Hood!Tim could be SO fun. and combine that with a Nightwing!Damian who doesn't give any sort of praise or kind words to ppl he perceives as equals/adults it would make for a ROUGH time with Tim. the miscommunication of Damian thinking it's perfectly understood that he still loves Tim, just doesn't support his actions. whereas Tim doesn't understand why Damian is so cold with him compared to how he was when Tim was still a child in Damian's eyes. and how far Tim would go for any sort of attention or praise- a RR!DamiTim version of 'Brothers in Blood' where Jason dresses as Nightwing for Dick's attention could be SO fun. the brainrot never ends with these two. they will never see eye to eye but will always be so in love with each other. and maybe Tim could actually be good, if it just means once Damian will tell him he's proud of him. but bc he never tells Damian that's what he wants, Damian never gives it to him. endless cycle of pain <3

She is SO special. Also I am going to use your ask as an info dump. As always, I have no actual formal education. So this is what I know from my job / from talking to doc. So don’t take my word as law for any of this bc I may have gotten some things mixed up.

Surgery is an option actually, but only for one tumor. When he takes out the thyroid tumor he also ends up removing the parathyroid. She needs to keep at least one of those, which is why he can only remove one tumor. I also could probably find a specialist who could remove both tumors and leave both parathyroids intact

The tumors are usually begin, but we’d send it out just to make sure it really is. And before we do surgery we’ll want to do bloodwork as well as take chest radiographs and make sure she would A) survive surgery, and B) not be putting her through a surgery when she’s only got a month or two left to live.

I'm going to tell you about a pro-vaccine commercial that plays in my head all the time and I wish I could create.

We start with a counter on a black screen, it's Humans vs. Smallpox and our score is zero and their score is super high and it just keeps going up. Then we see flashes of physicians from the past saying in various languages, "There's nothing we can do."

Then we go to all these soldiers attempting to fight this rampaging representation of smallpox. Think of the cave troll in Lord of the Rings. But the soldiers don't have any weapons and everyone is just screaming and trying to run away but they get stomped on:

So then we see Dr. Edward Jenner invent the smallpox vaccine and moms lining up with all their lil' babies (in old timey outfits) and we flash back to the counter and look, the smallpox side starts slowing down! Progress!

We go back to the soldiers. A scientist runs in with a glowing vaccine needle and they finally have weapons and they start to defend the townspeople from the big smallpox blob and he's getting smaller.

And then we see the World Health Organization announce that we will eradicate smallpox. The soldiers keep fighting and smallpox gets smaller and smaller until it's in a lil' jar:

and then we flash back to the counter and the numbers freeze on the smallpox side and on the human side a huge needle smashes down through our zero to be a 1 on the human side. We killed it!

Then a copy writer says something more clever but along the lines of "We've killed one once, let's do it again."

Honestly, I don't know if it's possible to move the needle on vaccine hesitancy and denial, but I'm like, super proud that we've managed to kill a disease. Diseases have been killing us, without mercy, for thousands of years and we killed one back! We did it! That is so amazing and I wish we talked about it more. We got revenge. We were persistent and strong and we finally defeated our oldest enemy.

I want other people to feel that pride and accomplishment. I want dramatic music as we vaccinate the final person. I want all the people of the past marvelling that we now grow up and live without fear of being killed or scarred for life by smallpox. It is a miracle. 40% of babies used to die but we live in the age of miracles.

Anyway, that's my vision. Let's kill polio! Let's kill them all!

So.. say that Arthur was able to recover from tb, what would be the hardest part of recovery?

In a hypothetical situation? Honestly, for Arthur, it would be the realisation that he will never physically be the same as he was before his illness, and all the rest he needs.

As much as recovery is possible (less so in the 1800s, if at all), TB still leaves a lot of permanent damage, even beyond the respiratory system. It can take years for just your lungs alone to recover, and even then, they'll never have the full strength and capability that they once had.

It's the same with muscle, because Arthur's weight loss wasn't just him losing body fat. Cachexia is a condition that goes hand in hand with TB, it causes muscle loss (specifically muscle protein) that cannot be fully reversed, even after recovery. It's a very complex metabolic syndrome that affects almost everything in the body, like scarring your heart muscle, which causes a heap of other problems.

But most importantly, Arthur would need to work very hard to put weight back on. And knowing Arthur, that's something he'll especially struggle with. His self esteem is in the ground as it is, so getting Arthur to rest and eat enough to gain weight back will be an almost impossible task.

A lot of TB patients also struggle neurologically after recovery, Arthur might be especially irritable or forgetful or have trouble concentrating, so bless Charles or whoever is helping to take care of Arthur during all this.

pony has a morbid fascination with disease. i dunno why but he just does research on like…smallpox and gangrene and syphilis but whenever he gets sick he psychs himself up like “DARRY I CANT BREATHE WIYHOUT COUGHING I THINK I HAVE TUBERCULOSIS” and darry’s just like “yeah because you’ve been smoking two packs a day since you were eleven dumbass”
