Rick and Morty: The Anime EP#03 - Alien Elle: As Rick has not yet returned, Morty go back to the virtual reality universe in search of Elle, but only find the Mullet Rick he encountered before. Mullet Rick explains that Elle is from a species perceiving all conceivable future branches since they are born, and they bear the concept of time flows from future to past. Mullet Rick know this because in his native universe, his grandson Space Morty teamed up with Alien Elle, the lone survivor of her species, to defeat Galatic Federation from stealing Mullet Rick's wormhole technology and invading planet Yalahreyta. Space Morty was labeled as the planet hero and galatic rebel leader after fighting down a warship, while Alien Elle was not as welcomed. Nevertheless, Space Morty trusted Alien Elle for bringing him the best life, and Alien Elle would save Space Morty from whatever crisis before the end she knew arrives. Mullet Rick concludes that Morty should not have any chance to meet Elle in normal circumstances, but what Mullet Rick and Rick did to time and dimensions seems to bring some changes that Alien Elle could newly observe, which she sees as a regret from future decides the past. Mullet Rick soon leaves without a trace, and Morty's simulation is once again terminated as Summer wants him to rescue Rick proactively. Post-credits scene : Rick persuades Mullet Rick not to abandon the Smith Family he stayed with before leaving. Mullet Rick laments on how he affects Morty's life, and makes a decision.

Demon Slayer: Swordsmith Village Arc EP#04 (48) - Thank You, Tokito: Kotetsu begs Muichiro to save Hotaru and his smith Kozo Kanamori. Muichiro initially elects to protect the village but remembers Kagaya's advice about triggering his memories to return, prompting him to rescue the swordsmiths. Tanjiro realizes each demons represents an emotion: joy (Urogi), anger (Sekido), pleasure (Karaku), and sorrow (Aizetsu). Genya confuses Sekido and Aizetsu with his resistance to fatal wounds. Nezuko burns Karaku and blasts him away with his uchiwa but is restrained by Sekido. Tanjiro uses Urogi to reach Nezuko and avoids Sekido's attacks. He frees her but both are incapacitated when Karaku pins them with a blast of wind. Mitsuri makes her way to the Swordsmith Village.

Naruto Shippuden EP#500 - The Message: The wedding is a week away. Iruka thinks about Naruto from his childhood and how he still hasn't given his message for the wedding. After class, he talks with Hinata, who says everything is ready. While cooking dinner, Iruka is visited by Naruto, who asks Iruka to attend as his father. Iruka happily agrees and realizes that Naruto also doesn't see their relationship as teacher and student but as family. Iruka gives his message, warning Hinata of Naruto's immature tendencies and stating that Naruto better make her happy. On the day of the wedding, everyone attending gives packets of money as the five Kage arrive. Shikamaru and Temari, as well as Ino and Sai, attend as couples. Sakura receives a congratulations letter from Sasuke's hawk and the two think about each other while he continues traveling. Naruto looks at Minato's headstone as Hinata thinks about Neji. Hiashi and Hanabi come in to tell them it is time. Naruto and Hinata then begin walking to the ceremony to get married.

To make you sad, here is a sad short fic.

Sirius was supposed to be getting drunk with James, Remus and Peter.

He was supposed to use his hands to get a piece of cake, purely just to annoy Peter.

He was supposed to have tea with Andy and her daughter.

He was supposed to have fun and be 21.

Instead he was rotting in Azkaban, singing Happy Birthday to himself. Not that he deserved to do anything he was supposed to, he killed his best mates. He killed James and Lily. If only he let them make him secret keeper, maybe they would still be alive.

Maybe.

Or maybe Sirius would betray them, he already betrayed one brother, what's another brother to betray.

Sirius was innocent of the muggle killing, he didn't rat out Lily and James, but he as good as killed them.

Rant(Grishaverse)

Leigh Bardrugo is a horrible piece of shit, the Grishaverse makes no sense when you think of the place and time it is based on. I am younger than her and I know more about Russian names than her. She made Aleksander part of a minority, she made him also the antagonist, are his ways a little extreme, sorta, but is he in the wrong, no. He is the antagonist but he shouldn't be. The Grishaverse makes zero sense. Why would any grisha follow Alina, they should follow Aleksander. THEIR LEADER. He made a save space for grisha. A bit of context for you people who have no idea what the Grishaverse is: people who can do magic(they call it small science) are called grisha, they are a minority, in Fjerda they are burned as witches, in Shu Han they are experimented on, in Kerch they are sold into slavery, in other places they are treated just as badly, in Ravka Aleksander made the Little Palace for grisha as children, their parents do not stay with them. Aleksander can control shadows, Alina our protagonist is boring and is the sun summoner. Alina and Aleksander have chemistry but Ms. Bardrugo would pair Alina up with her toxic childhood friend Malyen Oretsov. Aleksander created the shadow fold which is great for Ravka but it also split Ravka in two, he plans on expanding the fold with Alina's help as the Sun Summoner(which has never been heard of) but Alina doesn't want to be Grisha she wants to be normal(no Grisha should follow her). Leigh has committed culture appropriation. She has made Sasha(Aleksander) the villain but he just wants what is best for the Grisha and wants them to live lives. It seems Ms. Bardrugo has never met a minority in her life, she is white, cis and straight. No minority would want to be oppressed any longer. I am a poc, genderqueer, and pansexual. I would gladly follow someone who would help me be treated as an equal to a white, cis, straight man. As society wants everyone to be white cis het males.

EDIT: It has come to my attention that Ms. Bardrugo is Jewish and based the grisha prosecution on Jewish prosecution. This makes it much worse. Why Ms. Bardrugo, why?

      This has to do with the WORD of the Living GOD.       The GOSPEL of JESUS CHRIST.

      Life & death, Heaven & Hell.

      And it is an amazing burden, for a preacher, to stand       before a group of people--knowing some of you will       hear my voice & go to Heaven when you die.

            And others of you will hear warning             after warning after warning, & you             will not listen & you will die under             the wrath of GOD to spend             eternity in Hell.

      That is why it’s such a difficult thing to preach the       GOSPEL of JESUS CHRIST. [3:55]

      Now before I take my text, I want to say       one other thing:

      I am particularly burdened for the young people,       who are here. Many of you who are older, you       know what it’s like to follow CHRIST [4:12]

      You know what it’s like to pay dearly for your faith;       you know what it’s like to suffer.

            You would rather die,             than deny JESUS CHRIST.

      Or live in a way that contradicts HIS WORD, but       young people listen to me [4:30]

      Many of you were raised here, many of you were       born in the West; & you need to be very very careful.

      This Christianity is not a cultural thing.

            This Christianity is             not something             that just should be             a small part of             your life.

      It’s not something that you do on Sunday [4:52]

      Christianity is not about you living in the world,       6 days a week & coming to Church.

            Christianity is not about you             being just like the world             all the time, & then             coming to Church on Sundays.

      If that is your Christianity, then you       have no Christianity.

            You are not Christian.

      It is a dangerous thing to be raised in a Christian family.

      It is a dangerous thing to be raised in a Christian       community, because you may think that somehow

            because your parents are Christian,             that you are Christian [5:29]

      Or because you have come from a people that       have suffered that you too will participate in       that glory. That is not true.

      Young people, let me ask you a question:

            How do you know that             you are a Christian?

      How do you know that you have truly come to       know CHRIST? How do you know that if you died       right now, you would go to Heaven & be accepted       by GOD Almighty before HIS throne?

      How do you know? [6:03]

      You say, well it’s all of grace. Yes, we are not saved       by works, we are saved by grace.

            We are saved by believing the             promises of the GOSPEL.

      That is true, but what you need to understand is:

            Grace is a powerful thing.

            That HE who has given you             grace to repent & believe,             gives you grace to continue             repenting & to continue believing

      HE who gives you grace to believe unto justification,       also will give you grace for your sanctification [6:39]

      That you might grow in holiness,       as a matter of fact, listen to me:

      One of the greatest evidences that you have truly       believed in CHRIST unto salvation is that

            GOD has begun a good work             of sanctification in you.

           Philippians 1:6 | being confident of this,            that HE who began a good work in you            will continue to perfect it until the day of            CHRIST JESUS.

      HE works & works to make you holy.

      Now let me ask you: Is that a reality in your life?

            Is your great desire to be holy?

If one of you tells him, “Go in peace; stay            warm & well fed,” but does not provide for his            physical needs, what good is that?            So too, faith by itself, if it is not complemented by            action, is dead.            But someone will say, “You have faith & I have deeds.”            Show me your faith without deeds, & I will show you            my faith by my deeds.            You believe that GOD is one. Good for you!            Even the demons believe that—& shudder.            O foolish man, do you want evidence that faith without            deeds is worthless? Was not our father Abraham            justified by what he did when he offered his son            Isaac on the altar? You see that his faith was            working with his actions, & his faith was perfected            by what he did. And the SCRIPTURE was            fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed GOD,            & it was credited to him as righteousness,” &            he was called a friend of GOD. As you can see,            a man is justified by his deeds & not by faith alone.            In the same way, was not even Rahab the prostitute            justified by her actions when she welcomed the            spies & sent them off on another route? As the body            without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.

Stephen King: The Influence of a Horror Author on Popular Culture

Ever since his first novel Carrie was published in the early 1970s, Stephen King has had an immense and impressive influence on popular culture. He has written numerous short stories, novels, screenplays, introductions to literature anthologies, poems, and has made countless cameos and guest appearances on television series such as the longest running animated sitcom still being broadcasted today, The Simpsons. Not to mention the films that have been based on his fiction. He is known as a literary icon and is one of, if not the definitive, face of recent horror fiction.

However, one should ask the question as to how he can be designated as such.

Stephen King was born on September 21st, 1947 in Portland, Maine. He lived with his parents, Donald and Nellie Ruth King (Magistrale), until his father left when he was two. His school years saw his attendance shift from Lisbon Falls High School to the University of Maine in Orono (Russell), during which he spent his free time writing numerous fiction that have not been published since. These were either rejected from literature magazines or kept unpublished by King for personal and professional reasons. Finally, during his freshman year in college, he submitted and sold his first story, The Glass Floor, to the popular magazine Startling Mysteries (Russell).

In 1973, a year prior to the publication of Carrie, Nellie King died from cancer. The death of his mother later fueled the plot and themes in The Woman in the Room, a short story collected in Night Shift about a man who murders his terminally ill mother as an act of mercy. Carrie was published in 1974 and was later adapted into a movie by Brian De Palma in 1976.

The influence of Stephen King has not declined in recent years. An example of a modern instance is Stranger Things. Stranger Things is an American web-series created by the Duffer Brothers and has been streamed on Netflix since 2016, focusing on the disappearance of a young boy and the government’s attempts to keep it under wraps. Similar to Silent Hill, the series was primarily inspired by and shares themes with King’s works, most notably his coming-of-age horror novel It. This is not subtle in the least since, in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Ross Duffer answered a question with, “It’s probably It for both of us. It’s the big one and It is obviously a huge inspiration for the show” (Fienberg).

Both follow a group of friends who not only are children but, who also face a supernatural or simply unnatural malevolent force. In Stranger Things, it is the creature from an alternate dimension known as the Upside Down. In It, it is a Lovecraftian and demonic entity that takes the form of Pennywise the Clown. There are differences between the two. The creature from the Upside Down does not specifically target the main characters, rather attacking randomly. Pennywise intentionally targets the children in It. It also influenced the series’ title font during the opening credits.

It is not the only work of King’s that inspired Stranger Things as the series also shares a common trope seen in his fiction. That being, the presence of a telekinetic, telepathic, or simply psychic child with preternatural abilities. Numerous novels by King, including Carrie, Firestarter (1980), The Shining (1977), and The Langeliers (1990), have a character who fits this profile. Stranger Things has Eleven, a young girl who is able to use telekinesis and cross-dimensional astral projection after being subjected to government experiments, as its own.

Stephen King may have influenced recent American entertainment but, the scale and scope of his presences reaches foreign countries as well. Case in point, the elements of King in the Japanese psychological-survival horror video game franchise Silent Hill. The franchise began with the release of the first installment in 1999 and follows various characters as they encounter the small town of Silent Hill, Maine. Silent HIll is a fog-blanketed town where a pocket or alternate reality consisting of anomalous phenomena bleeds through into our own, including numerous entities such as Pyramid Head and the Nurses. Already, there is a connection between the franchise and a King novella, The Mist. The Mist follows a father and son who are trapped inside a supermarket as a dimensional experiment allows Lovecraftian creatures to enter our reality, which hide inside a blanket of fog. Both share the element of a town besieged by fog (RagnarRoxShow). Both use fog to obscure monsters (RagnarRoxShow). And both settings are located in Maine (RagnarRoxShow).

However, other King works influenced the franchise. Similar to Stranger Things, Silent Hill shares the element of a telekinetic, psychic, telepathic, or somehow paranormally-endowed child that reappears in most of his works. Its example of this trope is Alessa Guilds, a child who was used by the Order, a cult based in the town, in order to gain control of the monsters. She shares similarities with Carrie White, the main protagonist and character of the titular novel by King, as both were raised by a religious fanatic or group of religious fanatics (RagnarRoxShow) and both possess the body of an unborn child near the end of their respective stories (RagnarRoxShow).

The influence of Stephen King spans from Japanese video games to recent American television series and it continues to grow. King has written numerous stories and pieces of fiction that have remained relevant in popular culture, either by directly influencing entertainment concepts or being referenced within other forms of media. Silent Hill and Stranger Things were influenced by his works and have also retained their status as important contributions to horror media.

And So Shall He - Unknown (One-Shot)

A/N: Ahh it’s been a while since I last posted a fic up! I’m fairly nervous and excited but this was in my drafts for a long, long time and I’m glad I finished it!~ I hope you guys enjoy it and I’ll leave the rest of my thoughts/notes at the bottom of the story c;

[Also! Do take note that this fic is somewhat like an “alternate secret end/story” and thus, if you either haven’t read the secret ends yet or dislike any sort of tiny hints or spoilers, I’d recommend not reading this! ;v;) ]

04. Fulfillment.

A powerful rush of emotions coursed through him he watched his brother’s body slowly go limp; The way his lips turned pale, eyes closing and his breathing eventually coming to a stop. There were no words that could describe how Saeran felt because the moment he had been waiting for for nearly 5 fucking years was finally here. He finally avenged his ownself, finally ended the life of his wretched brother who had the damn audacity to spit out words like “I love you” and “We will always be together”.

Bullshit. Bullshit. 

So much fucking bullshit.

If he really loved him, he would never have left him in the hands of their abusive, drunken mother; If he truly wanted to be together forever, he would never have left him all alone in this horrible, disgusting world to rot.

Saeyoung was once his everything— his saving grace. The light in this dark world and the one who would give him the faintest sight of hope but now… He was nothing but a heartless, selfish liar. A filthy part of him that he wanted to get rid of forever.

“You can’t hurt me anymore, brother.” He whispered, tears streaming down his cheeks as he stared at the lifeless body. 

You can’t hurt me now. 

03. Dissatisfaction

He was supposed to feel complete, fulfilled, powerful even but why… Why did he still feel empty? Where did he go wrong again…?

As Saeran slammed his hands against the desk, he gritted his teeth with anger and frustration. He wanted to finally be at peace, feel the weight from his shoulders disappear and  be free from the pain that Saeyoung gave him but why… Why did everything feel even heavier now that he was gone? Why did it feel like his life was more of a disgusting wreck than it ever was before?  

Why did it feel like it was he who lost?

“Maybe… Maybe I shouldn’t have killed you.. Maybe that was the wrong choice. I should have tortured you instead, kept you in my grip.. Maybe I’m feeling this way because you… No, no.”

No.

It was the right choice. What was he thinking? Saeyoung, that vile brothe— no, monster, was meant to die from the start. This was how it was all supposed to go down and he was going to be happy with it. 

“Yes, happy… I’m… Happy…”

I am happy. 

I am happy. 

i am happy.

I am not happy. 

02. Desolation.

Saeran stared at the ceiling quietly, his mind hazy and blank. It’s been exactly 40 days, 21 hours and 3 minutes since his brother’s death and yet, still nothing.

No feelings of the happiness and freedom he craved creeping up into his soul; only a strange feeling of.. What? Guilt? Annoyance? Emptiness? Sadness? But what was there to be sad about? He did what he had to. He finally fulfilled his life goal of causing the same pain he went through to his beloved Saeyoung but…

“It hurts…” He muttered bitterly, hand gripping his chest tightly. “But why? I did everything I needed to… I killed him and I hurt him and I… I… Why… Why does it still hurt…?!”

In a feat of sudden anger and frustration, he threw his things onto the ground and stood up; his hands gripping his hair tightly. He couldn’t comprehend why he wasn’t feeling that joy he so longed for, he couldn’t understand why Saeyoung’s death only brought him more pain.

Saeran couldn’t understand why after all this time, he still longed for his dead brother’s love.

“Why. Why, why, why, wHY, WHY?!” His loud, painful screams resonated within the silent room as he collapsed onto the floor, his body instantly curling into a ball. Saeran wrapped his shaky arms around his legs as hopeless cries left his lips.

“Why did you have to leave me back then…? Why didn’t you come back..? Why…?”

You are still free and I’m still not. 

I’m still bound to you.

Like I always have been.

01. Void.

Saeran didn’t know what to call this feeling; he didn’t know whether this was the feeling called “acceptance” or whether this was him realizing that he was just… Empty.

He remembered hearing or reading that everyone is alive for a reason and that they were all special and loved but could he still be considered a human when he murdered his own beloved brother in cold blood? Could he still say he has lived when he was never alive to begin with? And special… How could he be ‘special’ when that word was never in his vocabulary to begin with?

The notion of being ‘special’ was simply reserved for the people who were talented and different.

The idea of being “alive” was for the people who truly fought and lived.

The word “love” was for the ones who had a soul and a heart.

Those words, those thoughts and ideas… they weren’t for everyone. They were for the ones who roamed this earth with a zest in their step and a glint in their eye. It wasn’t for people like him. It never was.

Unlike others, Saeran was damned the day he was born because the thought of being special was just another fleeting dream; the hope of being alive was just a fairytale and as for love… Love was the genuine smile on his brother’s face at 2am when he secretly fed him. Love was his brother patching him up after their mother had beaten the living hell out of him. Love was his one and only brother but now, love was gone.

Love was already slowly withering away the day his brother walked away but love was truly gone the second Saeyoung let out his last breath.

Saeran was damned to hell the day he killed his brother because love was the only thing going for him but now, love is gone. And so shall he.

A/N: Wow! What a feeltrip that was! ;v;)/ Let me first apologize for writing such a morbid fic lmfao I think this idea first stemmed from a group chat I was/am in but I doubt anyone really thought I’d actually do it haha! It was just an idea that stuck to me and thus, I couldn’t help but write it out in the end. ;;;

And also, I decided to make the ending pretty ambigious in the sense that the sentence, “And so shall he” can be taken in either a figurative or literal way.            “Born This Way” was Lady Gaga’s leading single for her sophomore album of the same name. Released on February 11th 2011, it is a club anthem that encourages gay rights as well as female empowerement (Casserly). The album itself was a huge success, outselling the next 42 albums combined on the Billboard chart in its first week of release (Sisario). The accompanying music video, (that was released on February 27th 2011), clocks in at over 7 minutes long. The video is in typical Gaga fashion, with disturbing aesthetics that accompany a clear narrative to compliment the song. The synopsis of the video is as follows: Lady Gaga (or the “Mother Monster”, as she calls herself), gives birth to a  humanoid race that bare no prejudice, however, the birth of evil follows shortly after. The rest of the video investigates the complexities of this alien world in their battle of good vs evil through dance, imagery and of course, sound (Moralde). The video did not go without controversy, with many Christian bodies condemning the video and herself as blasphemous (Cbs).  However, one of the biggest ways Lady Gaga aims to represent the complex themes in “Born This Way”, is through infusing Christian theological representation throughout the video. Through her lyrics, fashion, and cinematic visual tools, Lady Gaga uses Christian symbolism to create a united sonic and visual journey. 

            One of the most blatant ways one can see the Christian influence of the song is through the lyrics of the video. For example, before the music even begins she has a monologue in which she calls herself “Mother Monster” or the “Eternal Mother”. This brings to mind Mary, the mother of Jesus for she is often referred to as the “Virgin Mother”, or “Mother of God” (Pelikan). Argument has also been made that Mary should be called “the Eternal Mother”, for the birth of her Son had been planned since all eternity (Most).  Gaga is fusing the Mother of God epitaph together; instead of man birthing a God, she is the God who gives births to man (or at least a specific version of man). Furthermore, The actual lyrics of the song also invokes Christian rhetoric. For example, she makes a direct reference to the Christian God when she states: “God makes no mistakes” and to believe “Capital H. I. M”. Another religious reference in her lyrics is when she states, “a different lover is not a sin”. Using the word sin, (which is a violation of the Will of God), is directly implanting Christian ideals into the dance/pop song. In this case however, she is the one defining what the sin is, which further cements her character in the video as a God.  Another example of this is when she uses the old Italian phrase, “mi amore vole fe yah” which roughly translates to “love needs faith”. This love-faith connection complements the line from Galatians 5:6 “faith which worketh by love” (Copeland). In other words, love needs faith, and faith needs love. 

           Christian art also evidently influences the “Born this Way” music video, seen primarily through her costumes and visual symbols. According to Lady Gaga herself, she is “obsessed with religious art” (Bain), therefore, it is no surprise to find christian art replicated and emulated in her music video. Right off the bat, Lady Gaga is shown sporting a huge blonde wig, that is adorned with a black cross and is shaped in the same  manner of that of the Pope’s hat (Berman). Gaga in “Born This Way” is portraying herself as a leader of an order, like the pope. Also, When the birth of evil is depicted, a clear resemblance to Hieronymous Bosch’s 1490 painting entitled “Hell” is evident (Zafar). Gaga is creating a version of the underworld based on the Christian ideals of hell. Gaga does this yet again in the scene where she interweaves herself with other people. This is similar to Gian Bernini’s statue “The Ecstasy of Saint Teresa” (Zafar). This is an interesting choice to replicate due to the reason of St Teresa’s canonization. She was made a Saint by the church for her spiritual visions that she had described in very physical, and somewhat  sexual terms (Harris and Zucker). Perhaps it was for this very reason, that Gaga chose to emulate this statue. For Gaga is herself often making sexual references and this song is no different. Also, like Teresa,  Gaga is saying what she believe God’s message is. For Lady Gaga, God is an accepting being, who makes no mistakes in his creations. Furthermore, Gaga references the 1960 ballet entitled Revelations. Gaga, along with a crowd, reach their hands in the air before bringing them down and doing the same with their other hands. This move, which is straight from Revelations, is a gesture that, according to writer Meghan Blalock, symbolizes “asking God and their faith for guidance” (Zafar). Gaga by referencing this, is seeking to evoke the same emotional resonance as the ballet.
