my apologies if this has been answered before, i tried to look for an already existing post on your blog but couldn't find it: but what's your opinion on telehealth veterinary practices? yesterday i saw an ad for a vet who you can just video call and it just seems very strange to me. vets physically assessing (like touching and feeling) an animal is ingrained in my head as the best way to go about things. just seeing a video of someone's pet doesn't feel right at all. what's your take on this stuff?
Hello, Sueanoi here.
The only way I can see it working is when there is a vet or at least a vet staff (including but not limited to vet tech, vet nurse, vet assistant) on the receiving end. They have to at least know how to examine the animal and what to look for according to recommendation of the vet on the other end.
Consultation is a normal thing that vets do. Most if not all vets have experienced contacting a specialist of a specific issue to ask for their help over distance.
There is no way tele-medicine can work without a vet or vet staff on both ends. A layman cannot recognize signs of disease, or they cannot communicate what they see for lack of vocabulary to describe what they're seeing.
I'll give you an example, most examinations require the vet to use all the senses except taste. They look, they listen, they smell, they touch (palpate). They may need to collect samples from the animal to find out what's wrong. These actions cannot be performed by laymen. At the very least, a vet staff is required.
Another example, I am an ophthalmology focused vet (cannot call myself specialist due to technical issue), most often I get consultation requests from general practitioners. They would tell me the result of their examinations and sometimes with photos. They would usually ask for my diagnosis list and what to do next. I might ask for more info, for example : because an eye is a 3D structure, a flat photo might not tell me enough. I would usually ask for a short clip of the eye in different angles. I might ask for more tests like Fluorescine stain (which the other person must know what it is and how to do it) I might ask them to perform some reflex tests (which they have to know how to do) and once enough info are compiled, I can give them the most likely diagnosis and recommend their next plan. If they do not have enough tools, my recommendation sometimes would be to send the patient to me (or to other specialist).
I hope this answers your question.

Feathered Folk Update #4
You can now find my store at FeatheredFolkCo on Etsy, and my TikTok and Instagram pages @/featheredfolkco.
As you know, I've been working on setting up a small etsy shop where I can sell cards featuring my own illustrations of Australian native birds. As per my last post, I've actually finished setting up the shop, and have begun to work on some social media marketing. Though I'll be taking a break, this project has been quite the personal learning experience. This project has shown me just how much work is actually involved in setting up even a very small online store like this.
Before making my last update, I had been experimenting with prototypes for the cards. by getting samples printed at Officeworks.
Above is an image of my two samples. Both are printed on 200 gsm paper, with the left being on off-white with a glossy coat, and the right on uncoated plain white paper. I ultimately wasn't happy with either print. I liked the look of the illustration on the left print, with the gloss coat and off-white tone, but the coating also made it so that the inside was difficult to write in. Ink didn't dry properly, and it was difficult to use pencil. I felt that this really just defeated the purpose of a greeting card. The right hand card didn't have this problem, but it was also too flimsy.
I decided eventually to print at 300 gsm, with uncoated white paper, even though the cost of printing was slightly higher. I also reformatted the information on the back, as I felt there was something off about the design.
In the end, this is what I ended up with:
Below is my initial etsy store listing, with the description, which I made at the end of last week after I received my final prints. There were some additional, unexpected costs, such as a $20 store fee and a 30 cent listing fee that I had to pay, on top of the cost of printing the cards. It also took a little while to find the time to process the identity checks when updating the shop.
I had only uploaded images of the digital designs, and eventually felt that this was an inadequate representation of the product, especially for a public-facing post. I later took the product photos that can be seen previously, and added them to the listing, including an image of the cards in their packaging.
I also went on to create some social media marketing for the listing.
Though I had plans to create and upload a number of TikToks and instagram reels, the prospects of creating multiple short-form videos, in addition to the work of designing and prototyping the cards, became a little strenuous. I had a lot of time constraints between juggling work and three other uni assignments - two of which were due on the same date as this one will be. I was also limited in what I could do, by the wait times for all of the print orders. Though I will consider this short-form video content, and will hold onto the TikTok account, I decided to try to work with what I had just for this assignment. I created two slideshow posts for instagram using the product photos I had taken. One announced the release of the cards on etsy, and the other listed the designs featured in the pack. I also added the posts to my instagram story.
Additionally, I made an announcement on this tumblr account here, making use of more widely-seen hashtags that would allow me to not only organise my post in my blog archive, but also let the post be seen more widely. I tried to do that on this post as well. I also uploaded a notice on the BCM discord to reach a more local audience.
Though I didn't make any sales in this time span, I did manage to get some engagement with my store in the form of shop visits and views. I believe most of these came from word of mouth. I also gained two 'admirers' in the short time I had the shop up and running, who are people on etsy that follow my shop for updates.

Mary Magdalene Faltetto (Farutetto) Dress Unboxing + Details
2023 edition, navy (sample) and mist (2017) colorways.
Please keep reading under the cut for more detail pictures, descriptions, waxing poetic etc.
Note: This dress is commonly translated as "Farutetto", but I will be calling it Faltetto from here on as Mary Magdalene has previously translated it as such.
Other note: If the video isn't loading on my blog, you can view it on my instagram, but the quality is a lot worse and it's split into parts.
Words cannot describe how elated I am to own these two pieces, which I have had quite the history with! And, I feel incredibly lucky to have obtained not one but two pieces from Mary Magdalene's sudden update.
The mist colourway especially had been an item that I had been pining over for a long time and had always regretted backing out of paying a SS to preorder it when advance reservations for this new colourway (which later became "exclusive reservations" when MM failed to open any general reserve to the public after, and to this day) opened to attendees of a Chinese event in Guangdong, in 2017.
And the navy...I had preordered it via a Chinese SS for the Le Panier event in Shanghai in 2018 (announced to be an exclusive colourway, along with a lilac), only for it to be cancelled a year later! So I am very happy to own this sample version which is likely the same one used for the Le Panier event.
I have written a long, rambly post that goes into more detail of the history of where the Faltetto samples might have come from, + Mary Magdalene's activities that I am aware of from around 2017, so please check it out if you like.
Actual worn/coord photos will be in a separate post (or a few separate posts), but following will be some detail photos with a little bit of overlap from the video.
The bedspread I used is super wrinkly in the video and my photos, so I apologize in advance for that.
This was my first time purchasing directly from Mary Magdalene! I'm super thankful to rabbitreverie, who let me know that MM had suddenly updated their website with a message that they were planning to upload a few items the next day (or that night? I can no longer remember), with only a vague time frame given (in the evening). We both stayed up all night refreshing, and everything MM uploaded sold out in about 5 minutes (a lot of the stock was sample pieces, so only one was available, I reckon).
So as it follows, this was my first time receiving a Mary Magdalene branded box. I had the package sent to a forwarding service and asked them to keep the shipping box for this reason!
Unfortunately, the box did get super banged up not only in shipping, but also when it was consolidated, and it's quite misshapen now. Plus, the warehouse clearly opened up the box so I don't get that "freshly cracked open" experience, oh well. At least the pieces inside seemed to be untouched.
Both dresses came in a plastic garment bag with a very ordinary, flimsy plastic hanger, which was then folded into a thin non-woven dust bag, and further packaged in a "Mary Magdalene" logo branded plastic bag (without handles).
Since I'm a terrible hoarder of branded items, it was nice to get some more Mary Magdalene bags. I have just a couple that came with some coats I bought many years ago. I believe there was a point where Mary Magdalene shipped branded wooden hangers with their pieces, but no longer (I am not sure if such a thing was a special novelty for larger items like coats, or if it was commonplace back then).
Here are the hangers--at the point of photographing I had removed the dresses, so just imagine the dresses in there like the video. For whatever reason, the hangers are different, but they are both cheap plastic so it's whatever.
Only the Mist colourway came with a fabric swatch--I assume this is because it was a non-sample and was considered to be the 2017 standard release (so, this is how the dress would have shipped in 2017). One interesting thing is that both tags have the pink tag design, even though I swear I saw a red tag design on the maroon faltetto dresses from last year.
It's somewhat impressive that Mary Magdalene printed a tag for the sample pieces at all, as they really didn't need to bother (I feel like most brands don't)!
On to the dresses! I didn't take any extra photos of the two pieces side by side, so you can reference the very first photo in this post for that.
The colours are just gorgeous. I had wanted the mist for a very long time, but I'd be hard pressed to choose only one out of the two if I needed to. The mist is a lovely blue-toned gray which seems to change depending on the lighting, but the mature dark tone of the navy is also lovely!
Mary Magdalene had noted two differences between the navy sample piece and regular releases of faltetto: first, the chemical lace at the bodice is different; and second, the buttons that secure the neck ties to the bodice are different (regular release have sort of matte textured buttons that match the dress in colour, the samples have plain clear buttons). Both are minor and the construction of the piece seems to be the same as a typical release of faltetto.
I have to personally wonder if the sample pieces are handsewn by the designer (Rieko Tanaka) herself, though!
A closeup of the skirt section. One difference I've noticed between newer faltetto dresses released in 2017 and after is that the rose lace on the tier here is gathered along with the skirt. I don't think I've seen it gathered on the older faltettos (or at least, not on the other ones I own, of which their release year is technically unknown).
Hopefully this photo portrays the difference in lining. Usually faltetto uses a kind of satin textured lining, but the navy lining is a very ordinary polyester lining with a slightly cheaper feeling. It doesn't change the dress very much, but I can see the choice of material adding to the "sample" factor of the dress.
This is the back of the bodice. Part of faltetto's design appeal is the partial shirring panel at the back, which makes its sizing a lot more forgiving than a lot of other Mary Magdalene.
The image might be a bit small, but perhaps you can also see the difference in neck tie buttons.
The bustle ties are tied in bows at the back of the navy! I wonder if tying them is something leftover from when it was worn for the Le Panier fashion show...?
A closer look at the bustle ties and the little loops that you thread the ties through to bustle it.
The fabric of both is a textured chiffon--I think it's sometimes called georgette or pearskin by brands? I was concerned that the fabric would be thin because the chiffon used on my 2017 maroon faltetto is quite thin, but the fabric on both mist and navy seem to match my other faltetto releases.
That was all the mist/navy faltetto photos I took, so while we are on the topic of 2017's maroon, here are more comparison photos between those two. I figured it might be interesting putting them side by side because allegedly both of these pieces were produced in 2017 for Chinese lolitas who had pre-reserved (I bought the maroon secondhand in 2018, so I can say relatively confidently that it is the 2017 release and not 2022).
As far as I could tell, aside from the main fabric used, the construction seems to be pretty identical. The lining on the maroon might be a bit wrinkly from storage, but it has that satin sheen like the mist.
Maybe not the best photos, but hopefully these close-ups express the difference in fabric texture and thickness between the two. The chiffon used for maroon definitely feels somewhat cheaper and common, somehow.
Lastly, here's the washing tag. They also seem identical, except unfortunately it looks like the previous owner of maroon cut the tag and removed the extra button for some reason (the other side of mist's tag has an extra necktie button attached). The navy has no washing tag at all, which I suppose makes sense with it being a sample (however, it does have a "Mary Magdalene" brand tag sewn into the inner facing of the bodice).
By the way, while I was loading petticoats under the mist JSK for photos, I discovered that it had a minor factory defect!
It seems that one of the threads tacking the main skirt fabric to the lining was sewn down to the wrong seam of the lining. There is both a side seam and a side back seam to the lining, with the side back being where the lining's snap is attached (for the bustle). With the skirt fabric attached like this, when you try to raise/bustle the lining with the snap, there is a puckering effect.
Thankfully, it's an easy fix (I undid the thread tack and re-knotted it to the right seam), but not what I expected from the mist colour technically being first-run quality!
Fixed, and now the skirt can be bustled nicely!
That's all for this post, I think! At this point I have all of 5 faltetto dresses, which is...ouch. I never thought I'd end up with so many. I may need to find some way to utilize all 5 at once...

I'm not sure you’ll be interested in my reply to this, but I can’t send an ask to the original blog, so I hope you don’t mind if I write this to you. You were interested enough to reblogging the OG post, so I hope I’m not out of line here, or boring.
I had both similarities and differences from @prettydeaneyes when meeting the guys.
I like J2, but I am definitely Jared-leaning, especially after the prequel business. I was incredibly excited to meet Jared, while still also interested in meeting Jensen, just not as much.
In terms of M&Gs, I found Jared more tuned in and engaged. He is almost intense with how much he focuses on you. Jensen's had a different vibe, not as deep but still attentive, I guess. Jensen answered questions fairly thoughtfully, though I only really heard one tidbit of info that I found really interesting from him. There was a heller in the room enbarsssing herself, so she ate up valuable time in the meet with her BS, though. He was pretty engaging though and seemed okay with me giving him some cheek. But, for me, Jared’s M&G felt more intimate abd lighthearted with all of us joking about his 6 wounded warrior shirts that he’s worn everywhere, but also a little intimidating since it was my first.
For photo ops, I honestly felt like Jared was distracted when it was my turn. He started with his back to me and he was dancing, which was cute but made me feel off-balance and a bit awkward when he turned to face me, though he was my first J photo op. He gave me a very tight hug, which was great, but no little engagements like I’ve heard he’s done with others, so I felt a bit let down after accounts of others' experiences with him. In my Jensen solo, he was super engaging the first time. He had his charm dialed up to 11. So, I was surprised by enjoying his op more. In my J2 duo Ops, they were both fine with my requests and moved into position without question. I felt like both were pretty businesslike, though Jared cuddled into me more in the squish hug. They did hug tight.
I had two more days of photo ops with Jensen in one of the cons that Jared couldn’t attend, and the first day I found Jensen almost cold and walked away feeling like: F-it, I’m not going to be intimidated by this guy who can’t be pleasant when we are already disappointed by Jared’s absence. Honesty, it made me much more casual in my interactions with him after that. Still , the next day I had another op with him and he was friendly and we had to chat a minute to clarify my pose and he was great. So, I’ve had both better and worse solo op experiences with Jensen than Jared. Sadly, only one with Jared though, so it’s not a good sample size. I think I just had bad luck with Jared and he was distracted, while I think Jense is a bit more temperamental.
In autographs, in Toronto I found both Js to be a little disengaged though polite, though Jared seemed more distant (though this was the con where he teared up on stage and my autograph was after that on the Sunday , so he might have just been spent. We were soecicalky asked not to share overly emotional stories with either J as they were tired.). Jensen warmed a little by the end of our brief interaction. The second auto I had with Jensen he was friendly and I just kept it short, but it was one of my favorite auto interactions because it was just cute and I was not full of nerves.
To conclude, based on my exoerience and what I’ve read on,one, our own feelings and expectations have a decent role in how we end up percoevung the guys. However, I think Jensen can be very charming when he wants to, but he doesn’t always want to. Whereas Jared felt more real, but that also means he can’t hide it if he’s just spent. Ultimately bath guys are just human, but I truly think, in most cases, Jared engages more, just not "always" with me. I really hope he’s at the next aJIB because I wanted two con experiences to help me get a fuller impression of both guys.
No worries, anon! You're not out of line, or boring. It's always interesting to hear people's personal convention experiences (in the likely event that I'll never attend one.)
It's interesting the way you describe them because that's exactly how I imagine they are in person from everything else I've heard. When Jensen wants to be charming, it's a force of nature, and Jared wears his heart on his sleeve (no 'performance' so-to-say) so what you see is exactly what you get.
Thank you for sharing, and I really hope you get to increase your 'sample study' at the next JIB!

Let’s talk about samples!
I return from the Easter break 🐣 with some food for thought to explore. I wondered for a long time whether I should come up with something striking or related to past core content, but since I would like to revisit my Erasmus, I decided to put together my experiences and insights from my colleagues' blogs and from course lectures tied to this project.
GUERRILLA DESIGN is the first shot
I came across this concept while scrolling through the course material and would like to bring it into a declination of examples chosen to mix my personal experience with its relevance in a social and cultural context.
We can barely try to define this extremely varied practice:
“Unsanctioned, unscripted, and seemingly “undesirable” activities have long appropriated urban spaces in routine and sometimes unexpected ways, bringing new meanings and unforeseen functions to those places.”
This special issue aims to advance our understanding of urban design by situating it in a broader social, economic and political practice that includes formal and informal practices performed by a wide variety of individual and collective actors.
Expressiveness can be demonstrated by many nuances:
Street vending
When vendors take over street corners and sidewalks on a daily basis to provide basic and necessary services to city dwellers.
Here some cool, cutting-edge and Italian-vibes examples:
Graffiti
Gardening
Knitting
Skateboarding
Coming across the Graffiti thing I feel in the mood to share with you, tongue firmly planted in cheek, the most relevant model of resistance in street art beliefs: Banksy.
He has built a celebrated body of work, both permanent and impermanent, that uses satire, subversion, black humor and irony to create social, political and humanistic messages that resonate with the masses on a popular and public level. He is credited with catapulting guerrilla work into the mainstream as a viable art form.
I had the opportunity to see a very well curated exhibition here in Vienna, which was extended until 16th of April, with a substantial portion of his artwork, and my attention was stolen by the material applications pasted into the public and collective environment.
That was my closest contact with Banksy's art and I really enjoyed all the provocative works, especially material and architectural ones, such as the following:
October 2013, Banksy undertook a month-long residency in New York entitled ‘Better Out Than In.’
Summer of 2015, Banksy opened the dystopian theme park Dismaland in the seaside resort of Weston-super-Mare. Prepared entirely in secret, the project unveiled 10 new works by Banksy as well as works from 58 other artists.
Banksy went on to participate in the designing of the Walled Off Hotel in Bethlehem in 2017, opposite the Israeli West Bank Barrier.
To show you more:

Blog Post #7: Music in Nature & Nature in Music
Music can be found within each and every aspect of nature, creating a rich medley of sounds around us. From the gentle rustle of leaves in the breeze, to the cheerful songs of birds calling to one another, and the soothing flow of rivers winding through forests, music is everywhere if we take the time to listen. It’s fascinating to think back through history and realize that these sounds have existed long before humanity. The cracking of twigs under our feet, the warm pop of a fire at night, the whispering wind through long grass, and the rhythmic pulse of ocean waves all come together to make a natural, beautiful symphony that helps us feel grounded. Nature’s music is more than just a collection of sounds; it serves as a way to connect us to both the world and our inner selves. It can evoke emotions, revelations, and memories, reminding us of our place within this world. When we take a moment to fully appreciate these sounds, we can deepen our connection to nature, and recognize the intricate relationships that exist within it. In this way, the music of nature offers us peace, inspiration, and a powerful reminder of the harmony that surrounds us.
Photo from this past weekend of all the fall colours on campus!
When we think of nature in music, I think of artists incorporating a variety of natural sounds into their songs to create a whimsical yet grounding atmosphere. These samples - whether it’s the gentle rustling of leaves or the distant call of a bird - can transport listeners to a calm place, and make them feel at peace. One song that perfectly exemplifies this is “Beautiful Boy (Darling Boy)” by John Lennon. It opens with the soothing sound of waves rolling against the shore, immediately setting a calm tone, and incorporates chime-like sounds to really create this enchanting atmosphere, making the whole ballad feel light and comforting. This atmosphere, paired with the heartfelt lyrics directed toward his son, resonates deeply and evokes powerful emotions, allowing me to connect with the song on a personal level. This creative interpretation through music serves as a beautiful reminder of cherished memories, particularly the joyful moments from our past (Beck et al., 2018). Listening to this song immediately takes me back to a natural landscape - specifically, being on the beach with friends and family. This song has been on the top of my beach playlist for a long time as it’s relaxing and comforting, and makes me feel warm and loved. Experiencing this song while surrounded by loved ones makes me so grateful to have them in my life. While listening to this song, I can almost feel the warm sand beneath my feet, the sun on my skin, and the mist of ocean water on my face, all while enjoying the light breeze that cools me off. The joyful sounds of laughter and the rhythmic crashing of waves to accompany this song creates the perfect soundtrack for my ideal day.

"Spicing Up Success: Top Strategies to Promote Your Biryani Business"
The biryani business is a flavorful venture with a vast audience, especially in regions where this beloved dish is a staple. However, with increased competition, promoting your biryani business effectively is crucial to stand out and grow your customer base. Here’s a guide on how to promote biryani business successfully and attract a loyal customer base hungry for your unique offerings.
1. Leverage Social Media Platforms
In the world of food businesses, social media is king. Platforms like Instagram and Facebook allow you to showcase your biryani with high-quality photos, videos, and even live cooking sessions. Create eye-catching posts that show the colors, textures, and ingredients of your biryani. Run social media ads targeting local food lovers and use popular food-related hashtags (#BiryaniLove, #SpicyDelights) to improve reach.
2. Offer Discounts and Loyalty Programs
Discounts and loyalty programs can be an excellent way to keep customers returning. Offer special deals for first-time customers or discounts on combo meals, which may also help increase the average order size. Implementing a loyalty program where customers earn rewards or discounts after a certain number of purchases can help build a community of repeat customers who advocate for your biryani.
3. Partner with Food Delivery Apps
Partnering with popular food delivery apps like UberEats, Zomato, or DoorDash can greatly increase your visibility. Many customers look for biryani options on these platforms, and being available on them allows for seamless ordering and delivery. To attract more orders, consider optimizing your listings with appealing images, descriptions, and accurate details to make it easy for customers to choose your restaurant.
4. Host Biryani Tasting Events
Inviting potential customers to biryani tasting events can be an effective promotional strategy. Organize a “Biryani Fest” where customers can sample different varieties of your biryani. A well-organized tasting event not only promotes your business but also creates a memorable experience that people are likely to share with friends and on social media.
5. Engage with Local Food Influencers
Food influencers have a strong presence on social media, and their recommendations can greatly increase your brand’s reach. Connect with local influencers who are known for reviewing food and invite them to try your biryani. A positive review on their social media channels can expose your biryani business to a new audience.
6. Optimize for Local Search with SEO
For anyone searching "how to promote biryani business" or similar keywords online, ensure that your business shows up prominently. Optimize your website and Google My Business profile with relevant keywords, high-quality images, and customer reviews. Local SEO strategies like using geo-targeted keywords, claiming your business on Google, and encouraging customer reviews can help drive local customers to your door.
7. Create an Engaging Website
A website acts as an online hub for your biryani business, providing customers with menus, ordering options, and your story. Make it visually appealing and mobile-friendly, as many customers will likely access it from their phones. Include an option for online ordering, and if possible, a blog where you can share stories behind your recipes or customer testimonials, helping to create a sense of connection with your audience.
8. Run Festive Promotions and Collaborations
During cultural festivals or celebrations, offer themed discounts or limited-edition biryani varieties. Additionally, collaborating with other local businesses, such as dessert shops or beverage brands, can create a bundled experience that appeals to a wide audience, making it a win-win for both businesses.
9. Leverage User-Generated Content
Encourage satisfied customers to share photos and reviews on social media with a branded hashtag or by tagging your business. Reposting their content on your page not only boosts credibility but also encourages others to share their experiences with your biryani. You can even run a photo contest, offering a prize for the best picture or review to further increase engagement.
10. Collect and Leverage Customer Feedback
Customer feedback is invaluable in improving and marketing your business. Conduct regular surveys or simply engage with customers to gather insights on their preferences. Positive reviews can be shared online, while constructive criticism can guide you in making improvements that lead to more satisfied customers.
Wrapping Up
Effectively promoting your biryani business requires a blend of traditional and digital marketing approaches tailored to your audience. By leveraging social media, partnering with influencers, engaging with customers, and offering an exceptional dining experience, you can set your biryani business apart in a competitive market. Start with these strategies and adapt as you go to turn your love for biryani into a thriving, successful business.

Couples Bike Rental Guide on Exploring Mumbai
Greetings to all the fellow travel couples. Looking to get a bike on rent in Mumbai and explore Mumbai together? You've come to the right place or I should say you’ve come to the right blog. As a bike renting provider, I've sent many romantic couples on weekends zipping around the city on our bike rental in Mumbai. Let me share my tips for the perfect Mumbai bike rental experience in Mumbai.
Ensure safety
First things first - safety is sexy or a necessity. There’s no secret in saying that you should always wear helmets and drive cautiously. Mumbai traffic can be chaotic so defensive driving is a must. I am sure you’ve heard about Mumbai traffic many times if you are a resident of India. You’re going with your partner so make sure you're both comfortable operating your bike before heading out into the wild streets.
How to pick a ride
Now for the fun part - how to pick your ride. Mumbai has awesome options for bike rental in Mumbai. You can find everything from gentle scooters to powerful motorbikes. I recommend starting with a scooter or low-powered motorcycle if you're new to riding in India. It'll be less intimidating while you get the hang of things. Retnnhop is one of the popular bike rental providers, go check out the website and you’ll see how easy it is to get a bike on rent in Mumbai.
My favorite ride for couples is a retro Vespa-style scooter - so cute and romantic! But pick whatever puts the spark in your relationship. Just pay attention to size. Make sure you both fit comfortably. Nothing kills the romance like a sore backside.
Plan out the day smartly
When taking your bikes out, plan for an exciting but not overly ambitious day. Start with exploring calm neighborhoods and coastal roads to get your riding legs. Juhu Beach is a great option with gorgeous ocean views. Or head to hip Bandra with quirky art galleries and cafes.
As you get comfortable, ride down Marine Drive to see the Queen's Necklace sparkling along the shoreline. Or sample street food in bustling Colaba. Just avoid intensely congested areas until you've got some experience under your belt. Safety first.
Make sure to stop frequently to enjoy views, snap selfies, and simply enjoy being together. Part of the magic of bike rides is taking things slow. Let the day unfold organically rather than packing your schedule too tightly.
Pack some snacks and water to take with you. Hydration is key in Mumbai's heat and humidity. I also love surprising my partner with a thoughtful picnic - a great way to cap off a bike date.
By evening you'll likely be ready to drop off your rental and put your sore bums to rest. But you'll have amazing memories of an offbeat Mumbai adventure.
Bonus tips on Mumbai travelling
Want a few pro tips? First, take photos of your rental bikes just in case. And take the owners' contact details too. You never know when it might come in handy.
I also recommend using bike-sharing apps like Bounce. Super convenient for finding rentals close by and unlocking your phone. No keys to keep track of.
For long days out, look for rentals that offer unlimited km so you don't have to stress over meter readings. And don't skip the built-in locks - theft can be an issue. Oh, and one last thing - watch out for potholes! They can be bike tire killers.
Conclusion
That covers my best advice for an epic yet safe bike rental experience in Mumbai. The city really opens up on two wheels. You'll get to places tourists rarely reach. And create romantic memories that will last a lifetime.
Let me know if you have any other questions related to bike rental in Mumbai
or how to travel in Mumbai. Whether it's date ideas, route recommendations, or just encouragement as new riders, I'm here to help. Have a wonderful time zooming around Mumbai together. Ride safe and make every moment count.

Today I wanted to cover a complicated topic that is based on extensive research, credible sources, and application of the knowledge gained from it. This topic is all about marketing. Though I am in nowhere an expert on the matter - it is something that should be discussed when looking to build your brand and business.
So please feel free to take my advice and if you have any further questions, I will be live streaming for a Q&A for an open discussion.
What you should be aware of:
Marketing has several branches worth taking note of, but we'll cover that next. First things first, who is your target audience?
[Market/Data Analysis] This parameter sets the foundation of who, when, where, why, and how your flow will go. Think of it like mapping out a trail to restaurants in your area to visit. Each individual restaurant will have a specific trait that would contribute to your success.
Example:
Upon launching your content/product/service, there is a specific demographic you are trying to reach.
User: Sally Molly Race: Asian American Age Bracket: 20-25 Education: Associate Degree Career: Bookkeeper Annual Salary: 65,000$ Shopping Habits: Fashion, Pets, Home Decoration
User: Billy Nilly Race: Black/African American Age Bracket: 40-45 Education: Bachelors Degree Career: Freelance Carpenter Annual Salary: 75,000$ Shopping Habits: Small Business Items (office, materials, rental space), Advertisement/Marketing, Equipment
[Search Engine Marketing or Search Engine Optimization]
This serves as a method that goes hand in hand with content writing. So if you enjoy writing summaries or just in general, this will come smoothly. Even if not, don't be discouraged since there are tons of samples or examples to review.
Best Software/Tools:
aHrefs
Semrush
Google Analytics
[Digital Marketing]
This is the most common method that has been taking media to a whole new level! Content creation, video marketing, email marketing, mobile marketing, and so many more items reside within this branch of the marketing spectrum. When you've tuned into some creators' or business owners' content, you may have heard them mention the algorithm and how consistency in content is key. You'll be happy to know that they don't mean spam posting.
Instead, you will want to coordinate, also known as site mapping, the path you'd like your audience to take to view your content. So if you use Twitter to launch promotions, you can place your official website link or collection of links in your profile. Since you spend the most time there the organic traffic will work in your favor.
Lastly will be a brief summary of obtaining traffic using both the SEO and Digital Marketing methods, which depends on which one you wish to focus on. Most times you'll notice that once one milestone is attained then the balance game begins. What I mean is that there is direct traffic, organic traffic, and paid traffic as the primary funnels.
The breakdown:
Direct (SEO/Search Engine Optimization by content writing, quality photo and/or video content with the appropriate tags and description)
Organic (It's a bit more natural. Kind of similar to word-of-mouth or handing out business cards with brochure literature. You may be a public figure, musician, public speaker, front-line worker, or something else; this would work in your favor since you're in-person.)
Paid (This is pretty self-explanatory. Believe it or not, this is more so for individuals who deal with a different responsibility of building their business. A prime example would be if the content creator is great with photo and video production but may lack in the promoting part. This hires a marketing/advertising company to optimize your business on multiple websites! I highly recommend reading through the features, frequently asked questions, and blog sections to get familiar with how they work and what to expect. If you still have more questions, they'll be happy to help via email the majority of the time. If they have a live chat option, even better!
[Communications/Email Marketing] So now that you have your audience, content created, and even thought about how you'll get more site visitors - how do you plan to communicate with them?
Sure the whole 'hit me up in my DMs' is straight forward but the issue is where? Where is it most reliable that you'll respond to your direct messages from your audience? Some may prefer through social media platforms, others through email, and others through instant messaging apps. Each one holds value on how you keep the attention of your audience to then convert into followers/sales.
Example:
Twitter (Promos) -> Tumblr (Blog Post/Info/Link) -> Streaming Platform/Store page -> additional information on your business social media/professional page
Just make sure to produce a draft for this information so that when you start posting, you have your arsenal of content and helpful data ready to roll. For further assistance, send me a message and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.
Hope this helps you on your journey!

Sunsets and My Week in Unplanned Meals
I really had no idea what to write about this week so per usual checked my photos for inspiration. I couldn’t spin them into a blog post of their own, but wanted to share these cool sunset cityscape photos that I took this weekend. The first one was taken in Bellevue on Saturday and the second was taken in Redmond on Sunday.
While I didn’t emphasize this in last week’s post about my Sunday meal prep, I typically prepare nearly all of my meals and plan out what I’m going to eat at least a week in advance. While it’s normal for me to adjust things, this week was a bit different in that my meal plan was mostly created retroactively. Nonetheless, I still find creating and having a meal plan extremely valuable. On Tuesday and Wednesday, I participated in Aspire Start Strong and was provided with breakfast and lunch on both days. (Microsoft Aspire is a two-year professional development program for new grads and Start Strong is one of the signature events). Going into the event I knew breakfast of some sort would be provided, but wasn’t sure about lunch so packed lunch the first day just in case (which ultimately became my dinner). Sidenote, my favorite part of the program was learning communication skills from magician Vinh Giang. On Wednesday evening, Start Strong concluded with a social. While a full dinner wasn’t provided, after eating four sliders and some other appetizers found that I no longer needed to make the dinner I’d planned to.
Then on Thursday, Office Product Group had our demo fair and brought in food trucks. I’d already eaten lunch (a meal-prepped rice bowl) but was able to take home some delicious pulled pork and baked beans for dinner. To be clear, getting all of this free food is not at all representative of a normal week. Unlike some other big tech companies, Microsoft doesn’t provide us with free food. We do for some reason have unlimited free beverages, but I’d much prefer free snacks.
On Friday, I attended a happy hour at Outer Planet Brewing organized by fellow OneNote folks. While the date had been set last week, the location had only been finalized a few days prior to the event. One thing that I really appreciated about this brewery is that they actually let you sample things that are on tap. I consider myself to be a cider person and typically find that I really don’t like the taste of beer. However, I was surprised to find myself ordering the sour beer (Janus The Two-Faced Gose) after sampling both the sour beer and the plum cider. On the way back to the eastside, the folks I was carpooling with and I made an impromptu stop for tacos at El Rinconsito. The tacos were pretty tasty and actually reasonably priced unlike most of the food around here.

FAS3000: Secondary research for the recent blog of the Appliqué and reverse appliqué embroidery workshop- Two artists
Upon doing some research in finding artists that align with my narrative, I have found two textiles artists that go well with it. Their techniques juxtaposes with each other as one uses rigid stiff embroidery stitches on linen paper to make a 3D plants, while the other one uses some continuous free hand machine embroidery to create her environment (including buildings). The stiff rigid machine embroidery used to make 3D plants contrasts with the nature of plants as they are free and flowy, compared to the technique used. Similarly, the continuous free hand machine embroidery is used to make the outline and shape of the building, which juxtaposes with the straight and organized pattern of the building. Those two artists contrast the techniques of each other, which I feel would work really well in telling my narrative of the coexistence of plants and buildings, and so even though they contrast each other they still work and coexist together. Now that I have talked about their techniques, I would like to name them as I didn’t introduce their names and background (which will be mentioned later on). The names of the textiles artists are Gillian Bates (free hand machine embroidery) and Corinne Young (rigid machine embroidery). Their processes and techniques both inspired me to use these contrasting techniques for the building and plants within my primary images to visually communicate my narrative of their coexistence yet differences by how the plants grow freely ( like free machine embroidery) while the building stands strictly vertical (like the stiff technique of Young), in which shows they both are different (using the techniques) yet merge and come together to illustrate their close relationship with each other.
I would like some of my future samples to be inspired by their techniques (mainly in embroidery workshop) alongside my primary photos to show the contrast yet close coexistence between plants and buildings. In the future I would like to use machine embroidery to create stiff 3D plants inspired by my primary photos and continuous free hand machine embroidery to make the outline of the building and inside shapes, which again would be inspired and based on my primary photos and narrative.
Gillian Bates is inspired by British life including her surrounding and wants to lift off the veil of our surrounding by capturing snap shots that reveals the beauty and quirkiness of life in Britain (Gillian Bates, n.d., gillianbates-textiles, Available at: www.gillianbates-textiles.com/exhibitions, [accessed 10 October 2023]).
Her inspiration aligns with my narrative as I want to show the contrast between the building and plants and the technique used on the building to encapsulate the flow of plants. Just how she captures the living energy with the building in her work I would also like to capture the life that plants give to the building as they coexist together to survive and rely on no matter the difference.
An example of her work would be found on various social media, but I'll mainly show her work from her own website and the textiles artist inspired architecture which reached out and talked to her about her work.
Her work that will inspire my samples are shown down below, as I'll be using them when working in the workshop.
This image is found on textiles artist org which mentions details of the image and on her official Instagram page.

On the other hand. Corinne young(other artist) was inspired by her father and several ancestors on both sides of her family worked in the textiles industry. Her aunt and grandmother were keen needlewomen, and introduced her the possibilities of working with fabric. Although, Corrine's mother was keen in needle work, she also was a keen gardener and taught her a lot about plants. Since a child, Corinne found gardens fascinating and magical, and that feeling had stayed with her (Corinne Young, n.d., Corinne Young Textiles, Available at: https://corinneyoungtextiles.co.uk/about/, [Accessed 11 October 2023]).
Furthermore, her work aligns with my narrative for several reasons, one of them, is how she incorporates her story (plants and textiles) in her work, which is part of my brief. Another one is that I also found plants in my garden fascinating as they grow freely, whilst, carrying life and necessity with them, while also surrounding me (being part of my environment) and buildings as they overgrow on them. In addition, the plants attracts mesmerising insects towards buildings as plants are needed and relied on by butterflies, dragonflies, fireflies and etc, which when in becomes nigh time the the insects can have the building shine so magically as if it was revived back to life.
Her work that will inspire my samples are shown down below, as I'll be using them when working in the workshop.

Days 76-77 – Tuesday-Wednesday, 8-9 August
Tuesday
The ship spent the day at anchor in Corfu, but we didn’t go ashore. We had not booked a tour and didn’t feel like just wandering the streets aimlessly, so stayed aboard and worked on our photos and blogs. They had a few activities on board, including a special White Night Dinner (when everyone is supposed to tog up in their finest white gear – we don’t have anything even slightly resembling that), followed by yet another Casino Night, but apart from sampling a couple of pastries and taking a cocktail or two from the bar back to our cabin, we kept ourselves to ourselves all day and thoroughly enjoyed it. Some people, especially the women, dress up for the White Nights in pretty extreme gowns, exposing acres of bare skin, but it is just oneupwomanship and definitely not a scene that resonates with us at all.
Wednesday
We sailed along the Albanian coast early in the morning and proceeded to Montenegro. We didn’t land in either country, but I did see a few birds from the ship – just a few Yellow-legged Gulls in both countries, so I have two additional Country lists, each with a single species recorded.
There is quite a large inland body of water in Montenegro called the Bay of Kotor and we spent a few hours cruising around it and its Fiords. The town of Kotor was obviously the focus of the Bay and it is quite a beautiful small town spread along a stretch of the coastline. It was really quite stunning and we watched as pretty villages and high rugged mountains sailed past us. It was a very gentle, laid-back morning but quite delightful as we sailed up some narrow passages and around open bays before making for the entrance and out into the open sea again.
Then it was on to Dubrovnik where we had a tour booked that gave us quite a good view of the city.
In 1999, Heather had a Neuroscience Conference in Jerusalem, and I tagged along as her ‘Accompanying Person’. We had a few days in Rome and Florence and had planned to visit Dubrovnik on the way to Jerusalem, but there was a war on at the time that did a lot of damage to the city so we had to change our plans. In view of that, it was particularly satisfying to visit it, if only for a day, on this trip.
We walked around the UN Heritage-listed township and our guide pointed out several places where the walls are still pock-marked with bullet and shrapnel wounds from the 1990s war – how could they? It is such a pretty and peaceful place now that it is hard to imagine the intensive shelling that destroyed such a lot of the city so few years ago. It has all been rebuilt as it was before the war, but it is pitiful to think how such a pleasant peaceful city could have endured the terror and destruction just a few years ago.
We did the usual tour of a few churches (all Roman Catholic now, after several weeks of almost exclusively Greek Orthodox churches), the central Square, an archaeological museum or two, water storages and fountains, and sat in a bar for half an hour enjoying a cold drink before climbing quite a lot of steps up to the funicular. (I will continue to post pics of churches and city ramparts as and when I feel them noteworthy, but we are quite over them ourselves, and most aspects of our tours give rise to ‘not another one’ feelings that anyone reading this probably shares.)
An interesting feature of one of the monasteries we visited is that it remains the longest continuously operating pharmacy in Europe, dating from 1317. Imagine how Chemist Warehouse would fit with that – almost seven hundred years to match that record!
(And if there are more than the usual number of typos in this, put it down to gross incompetence on my part – compounded by a few problems with my PC keyboard – particularly the ‘n’ key that is not (ot) operating as it should)
There were approximately ten million tourists lined up, tickets in hand, to ride the two thirty-passenger funicular cars to the top of the mountain. Fortunately for us, but sadly for all the poor plebs left waiting for ages, tour groups got priority and we were the fourth tour group in the queue. It took about half an hour to board one of the cars but we were then up there within a couple of minutes – but perhaps some of the people in the queue are still waiting for the tour group priorities to clear so they can get a ride. It seemed pretty unfair to me even though we were given a priority.
My acrophobia made the trip up and back in the cablecar a little uncomfortable, but I held on tight and avoided looking out too much - and with thirty other people surrounding me, I felt pretty safe. In fact, on the way up, I found myself assuring another sufferer that the funicular was perfectly safe and there was nothing to concern us. If only she knew.....
The view from the top was fantastic – and made more so because our tour was regaled with bubbly (and more bubbly) and canapes (pretty uninspired to my palate) while we took our photos and had various landmarks pointed out to us. We could see our ship in one of the three (maybe four) harbours and it was a great vantage point to see the stereotypical Dubrovnik terracotta-tiled roofs that feature in every promo for the city. Looking to the south, we could see some buildings in Bosnia-Hertzogovina just across the valley – and behind them were the mountains of Montenegro. What an amazing sight – three countries over a couple of glasses of bubbles! There was a little time to kill up on the mountain because our tour was scheduled to follow four others lined up for the funicular, but in due course, we alighted the car and strolled down to the main city and port and onto our tender to go back to the ship.
After dinner, there was a great short concert on the stern deck. It was a musical performance by a men's group, playing mostly traditional instruments, with a couple of singers to add to their brilliance. It was quite magical sitting and listening to them, with the breeze blowing and the slap of the waves on the hull - quite delightful.
It may not seem a big deal to many, but to actually visit the magic of Dubrovnik after the disappointment of 24 years ago (and maybe twenty or thirty years of ambition prior to that) gave me a big buzz. It was a good day, if pretty tiring with lots of steps and walking.
