Hate to make an urgent post but this is, well, urgent. My mum is the equivalent of 200 USD away from completing payments on a loan she took in 2020 before she was laid off and hasn't been employed since. The bank told her that she has to get things squared away by the end of this week or they'll send auctioneers to come take our shit and those ppl are basically thieves they will take as much as they feel is necessary. That's not a threat I wanna see them make good on 😭 I want to raise at least 100 for her and I'm sure we can scrounge up the rest from friends n family. I would really appreciate any help at all with this!

I want to thank everyone their support with reblogging my stuff over the years and reblogging some of the context of the situation.

Tumblr and Instagram is filled with the most supportive people I’ve ever had the chance of meeting. The last time something like this happened, I didn’t have much support, not even from people I thought were close to me. It took me a year or two to be okay with being perceived again in fandoms. So I’m very grateful for everything.

I just wanted to post that I appreciate all of the asks and I’ve been reading all of them. I actually get anxious I’m spamming everyone too much so I probably won’t reply to everything. Please don’t feel pressured to support me financially, there’s is a free option on patreon to follow. I’ll post future project plans and occasional updates because I still love comics and I still love DC/Marvel. 5k/month is basically one hospital visit/vet bill and 2 weeks away from homelessness in the US. But also its really not "upper class" or the rich people think of when talking about eat the rich.

Embryo transfer was an expensive failure.

To transfer an embryo, they use ultrasound to guide a wire to the uterus to insert the embryo. Internationally there is between a 1 and 8 percent failure rate where the embryo does not leave the tube and has to be inserted a second time. This damages the embryo, and there is a less than 10 percent chance of a successful pregnancy after this occurs.

The normal pregnancy success rate is 46 percent.

At this hospital, the only hospital in my area that performs ivf treatment, the occurrence of needing to attempt an embryo transfer is 75 percent. Out of the four embryo transfers I've had, three have had the doctor need to attempt the transfer a second time.

Including today.

So, unfortunately, the chances of this embryo transfer working is nill.

I wish I could go to another hospital, but the nearest is a three hour journey by train. And a lot of the treatment in Japan requires coming in daily for injections.

My husband and I have agreed to try for another cycle, which means another month of daily injections for me, followed by a second month of near daily injections. But it's honestly looking like tiny tot will be an only child.

All I can say is fuck the Japanese medical system and fuck poorly trained doctors that apparently got their degrees from a fucking candy box and are so bad at their jobs I don't know why they're even allowed to fucking practice.

Fuck you Japan. Fuck. You.

But like. I did some math about prices for things (specifically in 5th Ed.) and like. Leonization treatement--which is stated to be so extravagantly expensive that only the ultra rich can afford it--costs like 12,000 USD if you follow modern yen-USD exchange rates*. A Low lifestyle--again, stated to be profoundly difficult to acquire despite being the absolute dogshit cheapest option that isn't Being A Literal Squatter--costs like 15 bucks a month. A Metalink--again the cheapest commlink option given that is still understood in lore to be so out of range of most people that like. Households share one if they have one at all--costs like. 63 cents.
