Sleepyhead- R!🐧
No TW
Song referenced at the end is down there 👇 it’s a classic so most of you probably know it but just incase i’ve got right here for you :)
Kai stared down at his meal with a permanent pout and poked it around with a single chopstick. He didn’t have the energy to eat. With a whine, he lolled his head to the side and let it fall against Soobin’s shoulder. All he got was a little pat on his thigh. Kai knew the gesture was meant to be loving and sweet, but it felt dismissive and soured his mood. So, like grumpy toddler he felt like, he lifted his hand and dropped it into his bowl of over cooked rice, purposefully letting it clank sideways to make a mess.
“What was that for?” Yeonjun asked across the table. Kai scowled and dragged his hand limply out of the bowl and over the table, pulling grains of rice with it. Some fell into his lap and others onto the floor they sat on.
“Hey. Knock that off.” Soobin scolded bluntly, stopping Kai’s hand while he fixed the bowl and focused back on eating.
“I’m tired.” The youngest complained with a very apparent childlike tone.
“We all are, I promise. We’re going home when we finish eating.” Soobin tried to explain. Kai didn’t like his response. He wanted to go home now!
In a moment of weakness, Kai forgo all social etiquette and let out a long whining sound that trailed off into overtired tears, slumping back to lay on the floor. He kicked out his legs, knocking into Yeonjun’s knees, and cried. If he wasn’t so tired he would hit the floor ground and scream; throwing a full blown tantrum. His arms were so heavy that he didn’t bother. All he did was whine and weep.
“Oh, Hyuka…” One of their managers sighed, familiar to the sight of his theatrics. Soobin held back a tempting eye roll. He was equally as tired as Kai, so he didn’t have the mental energy to talk him through his problems and guide him out of his headspace.
“Kai, please eat some dinner. Come here, Hyung will feed you, okay?” He successfully convinced him and got him situated, sitting upright and tucked against his side.
“Look, we have chicken. Open so you can taste how yummy it is.” Soobin coddled. Kai sniveled, but complied. He did end up feeling better after a few bites of protein.
“There. All done. I’m all done, too. So, we can go home and get ready for bed.”
-
What was initially a very simple bedtime routine, turned into a battle against a 6ft tall boy with an even taller hyung. Kai was cranky and bratty. He didn’t want to do anything himself, but fussed when Soobin took over. If it was as easy as just throwing him into his bed, they’d be done by now. Most of the time that would be how they put themselves to sleep after working. Tonight however, Kai needed a bath, his medicine, and to brush his teeth. Yeonjun suggested to skip the bath, but they all stank after the day they had.
Kai enjoyed bath time when he was little. He got to play with small floaty animals, tub crayons and cups he used as boats. That night he was too tired for any of the fun stuff. In their big bath tub, while the others rinsed off in the other bathroom, Soobin sat behind Kai in the soapy water and washed his hair for him. He stayed put in the back corner of the triangular shaped tub and took care of himself, too. The special lavender bubble bath didn’t help Kai stay alert or awake. He ended up using the edge of the bath as a pillow while Soobin washed his back for him. It was relaxing until it came to getting out.
“C’mon, it’s only cold for a second.” Soobin tried to explain, holding up a fluffy towel ready to wrap Kai in. Kai sulked down at the water and hunched his shoulders. He was getting cold just with his upper half exposed.
“Too cold!”
“Honey, I already dried your hair and shoulders. You need to get out. The water is going to get colder and colder until you’re left shivering all by yourself.” Soobin said convincingly. He would never leave Kai alone for longer than five minutes during a bath, but it didn’t stop him from trying to change his mind.
“No!” Kai blurted in a bratty tone.
Extra man power ended up needing to be used. With Taehyun’s help, Kai was pulled out of the bath and stood up on both feet. Soobin made quick work of drying him and even used a second bigger dry towel to wrap him up in when he was done. Kai shed some crocodile tears through the process of brushing his teeth, but settled down after getting changed into his jammie’s. They were light blue with clouds on the pants and a little sun on the shirt pocket.
“There you go. Do you want to be carried to the kitchen or walk by yourself?” Soobin asked patiently, as he pulled a comb through their hair.
“Up.” Kai mewled softly. His emotions were all over the place, like a puzzle thrown up into the air and scattered on the floor. Part of him felt guilty for putting his friends through this, but another was sad and grumpy for no reason. He really wanted to cry.
Soobin set aside his frustrations and smiled reassuringly at his baby boy. He brought Kai to the kitchen for his medicine that helped him sleep and sat him down on the cold counter top. Kai’s legs dangled in front of him, so he kicked one foot up to thump against the lower cabinet. Soobin didn’t scold him. The older took Kai’s favorite light blue sippy cup that had a Winnie the pooh graphic on it, and poured some milk in that he heated up separately in a mug. Then he got one dose of Kai’s medicine and brought it over to him.
“Here you go, honey.” Soobin said, placing the small pill in Kai’s waiting palm. He didn’t have enough energy to throw a fit or refuse to take it so, down it went.
“Good job! Let’s go wind down for the night.”
Kai slid off the counter and gnawed on the spout of his cup as he trailed behind Soobin on the way to his room. It looked like everyone else had already gone to bed. Most of the lights were off, the tv too, and no one was talking or bickering. Kai wanted to say goodnight to the others, but it was too late. He blinked back tears and rushed past Soobin to get to his bed before he entered the room. Kai burrowed into the bedding and pillows of Soobin’s bed and made sure his face wasn’t visible.
“Baby, you don’t have to hide. What’s going on? You can tell me.” Soobin said as lovingly as ever. Kai whined when he also climbed into the bed, lifting up the pillow that covered his face.
“Why’re you crying, sweetie?”
Kai couldn’t hold it in. He sobbed, the sippy cups spout still between his teeth. So many things had been irritating him that day, but he couldn’t remember what. All that was left was the leftover emotions that came with it all. Everything made him upset and he didn’t know why. He wanted to scream, but also wanted to be coddled and taken care of. He was so confused.
“Shhh, you can cry it out, it’s alright.” Came Soobin’s soft voice from above him, his hand running through his damp hair.
“M’sad a-and tireddd!!” Kai hiccuped. He heard Soobin coo and glanced up at him.
“You had a long day. It’s okay to feel bad, I understand. I’m very tired, too.”
Kai cried for a few more minutes, eventually latching onto his cup and taking a drink, effectively calming him down. He shimmied closer to Soobin and pulled him down for a cuddle. His arms were familiar and secure, strong enough to keep him safe throughout the night. Soobin got comfortable with Kai and picked up the small music box on his nightstand. He rotated the tiny handle and out came a little tune that sounded like fairy dust.
It was one of little Kai’s favorite things. Although the song never changed, he loved to hear it play, especially at night. The box was wooden and had a lid that could be lifted to show the mechanism inside. The miniature tines being plucked by the bumpy cylinder that moved from the crank twisting the little gears that connected it all, fascinated him no matter how long he watched it. The song, a rendition of Edelweiss, sounded lovely and sweet to his ears.
“Again…” Kai whispered when the song finished. His eyes closed halfway through the short 45 seconds of music, but he didn’t realize. He heard Soobin chuckle and felt him rub his cheek.
“I think you’re ready to sleep, baby.”
“Again. Just one. Please.” Kai murmured, his eyes remaining shut. Soobin didn’t have the heart to deny him.
“Alright, but only because it’s for you.”

too little 4 all of it
ageretober day 6 ‘scary movies’ ; cg ot3, little soobin & yeonjun ; wc 1.8k
kai loves doting on his hyungs. teasing them, pinching their cheeks, baby-talking and aegyo-ing his way out of his things. he loves to see his hyungs groan in frustration at his antics. but it’s even better when his two eldest hyungs are not exactly the eldest anymore— but are regressed. yeonjun usually regresses older than soobin, around 5-7, meanwhile soobin sometimes regresses as young as 1 or just a couple months. kai still loves doting on them then too.
it’s the halloween season and kai was the one to fill their dorm with fake pumpkins and leaf garlands. every time one member comes home, they should be expected to be hit with a whiff of caramel apple or pumpkin spice. kai loves the soft amber feeling of fall, but he also loves the horror and scare of halloween. he has been binge watching horror movies every single night on a too loud volume. taehyun, on the 2nd night, decided to go and sleep in the living room.
it’s the night of their day off and taehyun and beomgyu had agreed to join kai on his nightly binge of a horror movie. soobin and yeonjun did not.
well, more like yeonjun didn’t agree. soobin had slipped earlier in the day and was still small. baby soobin really did want to watch the movie! but, yeonjun insisted that he was too little for it. and so, soobin decided to cuddle up in bed with yeonjun and mindlessly watch random videos that came up on their youtube feed and bad reality tv shows.
a couple hours later, soobin felt a little bit bigger than he did before. he noticed his dada had fallen asleep and he silently creeped out of bed. he turned the knob of the door and shut it so quietly, it barely made a creak. soobin heard the faint sound of some reality tv actor screaming at their colleague from behind the door. soobin turned around and faced the dark hallway. fear bubbled up in his chest but he swallowed it down and took a careful step forward. the floor creaked and soobin widened his eyes, thinking yeonjun was going to wake up and come out of the room to scold him.
soobin kept walking and eventually made it into the living room, braving the adventure of passing by dark rooms and the shadowy figures that came within them. he heard the noises from the movie and couldn’t help but get a little excited. he really wanted to watch it earlier but yeonjun forced him to go to bed since he was scared and now he can! he peeked around the corner and then scurried to the couch, finding a place and cuddling up next to beomgyu and kai. he mindlessly stuck his thumb in his mouth and contentedly watched. the protagonist was now walking up the stairs of an old abandoned house and stupidly calling out, “hello? Anyone here?” and soobin couldn’t help but giggle. this drew the attention of beomgyu who then noticed soobin’s thumb in his mouth. He stroked his shoulder and whispered in soobin’s ear, “how old are you, baby?” soobin then held up his hand, proudly showing five fingers. beomgyu knew that he would be okay, and if it got too scary he would just take soobin back to his room. beomgyu looked over towards taehyun and kai, who’s eyes were lost in the screen and spaced out, completely focused on the movie. beomgyu scoffed and then saw soobin doing the exact same thing. he decides to let them be.
๋ㅤ ࣭ ㅤ⭑ ☆ㅤ ๋࣭ㅤ ⭑
yeonjun wakes up in a dark room and hears the sound of wind and hail pellets beating against the window. he groggily rubs his eyes and whimpers. the last thing he remembers before falling asleep is the dance moms pyramid and soobin cuddling up really close. the tv is now showing the graphic of the lifetime logo bouncing around the screen. yeonjun feels a little bit disoriented at first, not knowing why he was here or where he even was. he then registers that he’s in soobin’s bed, and soobin is not here. it’s quiet, except for the buzzing of monitors and the tv. well, it’s quiet for at least a few moments.
until, yeonjun hears an ear piercing screech from outside and what sounds like a knife stabbing someone. he covers his ears and whimpers. it is now that yeonjun’s consciousness realizes that he’s probably slipping into the mindset of a toddler. yeonjun feels really scared right now. he thinks he regressed younger than he usually does, it’s dark, and a roar of thunder is heard outside. yeonjun shuts his eyes, hoping for it to all go away. but it doesn’t.
he decides to face his fear. and maybe find soobin. he keeps his hands over his ears and climbs out of the covers. he opens the door and ventures down the dark hallway, jumping at every shadowed room and piles of clothes that look like monsters. he can’t help but focus on the gruesome screams that are echoing from the tv.
tears form in his eyes as he reaches the end of the hallway and finally looks at the movie that has so many scary noises coming from it. as they fall down his cheeks, he quickly wipes them away and sniffles. he holds his breath and walks into the living room. everyone was there, except for him. yeonjun feels a little pathetic. he’s a little boy and he’s not watching a scary movie with all his friends? how much more pitiful can you get? he sighs out the breath he was holding and sits down between taehyun and kai.
the movie has reached a not so bad scene now, the protagonist at lunch with someone who yeonjun presumes is a businessman. yeonjun cuddles up next to taehyun and rests his head on taehyun’s shoulder. his eyes wander around the room, just in case a jumpscare or something scary happens in the movie. his eyes land on soobin. he’s sucking his thumb and is engrossed in the movie. oh, soobie is little too? he thinks. that’s nice at least; to have someone else be regressed with him too. yeonjun sighs again and wiggles into a more comfortable position. he can feel taehyun’s warm sunshine smile shine down on him and he relaxes his nerves just a little bit.
but of course, yeonjun is never able to have peace. ever. the next scene the protagonist gets jumpscared by the businessman who has now morphed into the nightmare that she has been running away from for the entire movie. yeonjun jumps a little, and he feels himself slip farther. he knew this was a bad idea. but he had to stay. he can’t be alone in his room. he would much rather be scared and with his caregivers than alone. the next scene is even scarier, the girl is running throughout town and it seems like every citizen has been morphed into some sort of form of the scary creature. yeonjun covers his eyes. at this point, it’s too much. the girl screams and yeonjun’s dam breaks.
he is sent into wretched sobs and is hiding into taehyun’s side, trying to almost go behind him into the plush of the couch. he feels smaller than a toddler now. his demeanor is that of a baby. the emotions and the intenseness of the movie was just too much for him. all the stress and just general anxiousness he had been feeling the past week had all been bottled up and just exploded. salty tears soak taehyun’s shirt and his arms. taehyun tries to caress yeonjun’s hair but the boy beneath him flinches, scared. the movie is paused but yeonjun can’t deal with the silence either. the stares on him bore into his soul and it’s piling up in his throat. yeonjun gets up from where he was cuddling into the couch and runs to the bathroom. he slams the door shut and throws himself onto the floor, choking on his sobs, unable to get the visions and flashbacks of the scenes out of his head.
๋ㅤ ࣭ ㅤ⭑ ☆ㅤ ๋࣭ㅤ ⭑
kai looks at taehyun, taehyun looks at beomgyu, beomgyu looks at soobin. soobin whines. when yeonjun first came into the room, soobin could tell that he was little too but didn’t say anything as he was too invested in the movie. taehyun sighs and they all wordlessly get up from the couch. soobin hesitates, as he knows that he has to be the older brother now to yeonjun. he usually regresses much younger than yeonjun. but after being scared like that, soobin doubts that yeonjun is any older than a little baby. kai tugs at soobin’s shirt to get him to stand up and soobin pouts. he grabs a paci from the kitchen counter as they pass it to get to the bathroom. yeonjun probably needs it more than him.
the bathroom door is creaked open and soobin sees yeonjun curled up in a fetal position on the floor, crying his eyes out. his heart twinges in guilt. he should’ve stayed and kept cuddling with yeonjun. maybe there was a deeper reason why yeonjun didn’t want soobin watching the movie. soobin watches as his hyungs crowd around his baby brother and he cringes. yeonjun needs space… he whines and flails around, almost punching kai in the face. soobin feels so bad, he needs to help yeonjun. thats his brother. his baby brother right now. “STOP!” he yells. it’s not directed at yeonjun, but at his hyungs. the room of overlapping affirmations of “you’re okay” and “it was just a movie, baby” came to a halt. he pushes through the trio and lays down with yeonjun, matching his position. he then sticks the pacifier inside his mouth, not saying a word. he then, still silent, holds up five fingers. yeonjun, understanding what soobin was conveying, holds up one finger. yeonjun is now significantly calmer now, sobs only reduced to a few tears and whines in just a matter of seconds. the trio watched the quiet exchange and realized that they were probably being a bit overbearing with yeonjun when he was in such a sensitive space.
soobin spoke to yeonjun softly, “jjunie, no more scaries, okay?” his tone was babyish and the caregivers watching couldn’t help but smile at soobin taking on the role of older brother, despite being small himself. yeonjun nodded subtly and sat up, whining. he climbed into soobin’s lap, suckling on his paci. he then made grabby hands towards the trio, wanting them to cuddle too with him on the bathroom floor. they all came closer and yeonjun smiled a bit. he then cuddled more into soobin’s chest and closed his eyes. soobin patted his head and whispered, “sleepy?” yeonjun nodded again cutely and whined out, “night night. love you.” admittedly, there was some more discussion to do about yeonjun’s outburst at the movie so suddenly, but for now. for now, the trio and yeonjun’s older sibling were comfortable with just watching the baby sleep after being so overwhelmed. their little family, with their flaws, are perfect at knowing what they all need and how to take care of each other.

SO CUTE. LITTLE JJUNIE I CANT
Scary Movies R!🦊
✦✧✦✧ Ageretober Day 6 ✦✧✦✧
This part is going to be a part of my regular little txt series, Hugs & Kisses. So if you see it in the links of my masterlist, that’s why!
Summary: Yeonjun gets frightened by a scary movie and tries to hide the fact that he’s so uncomfortable. But, with a caring family, his tears don’t go unnoticed.
Word Count: 1,151
Sometimes watching a scary movie and getting a racing heart was exciting or fun. Halloween was the most popular season for horror movie nights. Kai loved making a big deal about it. He’d select seven to watch each night during the week leading up to Halloween. Yeonjun didn’t understand how he could enjoy them that much when they gave himself a nervous tummy or trouble sleeping. When he felt mentally strong enough to, he’d join in with the others and tag along to movie theaters or just to the couch. But, he still didn’t really like them.
He especially didn’t like the one he had been dragged into watching that evening. It was a proclaimed classic, but Yeonjun was incredibly off put by the real life aspect of it and how genuine the young actress behaved. Her acting was impressive, but terrifying. It was one of those movies with extra gross scenes thrown in to provoke reactions out of viewers. Yeonjun was not enjoying it one bit.
The lights were off, so no one could really see his body language, but he was curled up and tense all over on the love seat by himself. He gnawed on his fingertips to rid some of the anxiety but it wasn’t working. They had just finished up a busy week, so he didn’t have time to decompress and everything was starting to build up on top of each other.
“Oh, this parts so gross.” Soobin cringed from where he was laying stretched out on the floor with a couple pillows. The others ewed and laughed at the screen, but not Yeonjun. He gave up trying to power through his discomfort and rolled over.
Facing the cushions, he tugged his blanket closer to his body and prayed that none of them would look his way. For the next half hour he listened to the grotesque voice of the possessed girl, eerie sounds, and music. He hated it. His stomach was in knots, the noise was deafening and he felt like he had no escape. Yeonjun felt his lip tremble and realized why he was so emotional. It all quickly bubbled over the surface and he started to cry.
It went unnoticed for a few minutes until his nose became to blocked up to breathe silently through and he sobbed quietly. Everyone looked in his direction. He was so embarrassed to be the eldest that turned into a little boy and cried over a dumb movie. Kai frantically searched for the remote and paused the tv. Beomgyu was already sitting by Yeonjun’s feet in the free space on the small sofa by the time the movie was stopped.
“Hyung, are you okay?” He asked gently. Yeonjun cringed at the honorific and covered his ears with his hands.
“What’s wrong?” Taehyun wondered, left unsatisfied with a shrug from Beomgyu. Yeonjun could still hear his question and cried some more because he couldn’t get an explanation out fast enough. As he got more worked up, Soobin stepped up to help.
“Hey, talk to us, unless you want space, which is fine. Just tell us so we can make the right move.” He said somewhat caringly. It wasn’t an irritated or blunt tone, but it wasn’t soft enough for Yeonjun. He whimpered and pushed himself up.
Yeonjun wiped his face with his sleeve and scooted closer to Beomgyu, climbing halfway into his lap and clinging to his body. He was met with welcoming arms and a warm embrace. He was slightly frustrated that they weren’t able to immediately tell he was little. To give them the hint, Yeonjun put his thumb in his mouth. It was instantly soothing and helped him calm down.
“Oh, honey.” Beomgyu murmured as he realized.
“Shit.” Kai whispered to himself. He fiddled with the remote until the movie was off and replaced with the old animation section of disney.
“How long have you been little, baby?” Soobin asked sadly.
“Dunno…” Yeonjun mewled, sniffling.
“That movie is way too scary for little ones to watch. We’re so sorry.” Beomgyu cooed into his hair. He secretly basked in the cuddles from little Yeonjun, who rarely ever showed himself.
“It’s okay, baby. It was all pretend. Just makeup and costumes.” Soobin added. Yeonjun understood that, but he was still scared. The girls scary face kept popping up in his head, so he whimpered and started looking around the room, twisting left and right to see if she was there.
“What’re you looking for, sweetie?” Soobin asked, following Yeonjun’s gaze.
“Do you want Roo?” Huening Kai tried. The eldest always had his kangaroo lovey when he was little.
“Mm…the girl. Don’t want her here.” Yeonjun pouted as he shook his head. They all held back endeared laughter.
“There’s nothing to worry about. She’s not real and can’t get in our home.” Soobin smiled. Yeonjun gave him a suspicious look, but redirected his attention to something else.
“Roo?” He murmured.
“I’ll go grab him, how about you and Hyuka pick out a new movie to watch!” Beomgyu suggested enthusiastically, lifting Yeonjun up and depositing him next to the maknae with a crashing sound effect that made them giggle.
“Kai be little, too!” Yeonjun begged cutely, hanging off his arm and doing the best puppy dog eyes he could.
Kai hesitated. He was pretty worn out from the work week, like the rest of them were, and it would be nice to be small, but he knew he became extra needy and sensitive when he was. It was almost guaranteed that he would slip below three years old if he tried, and that would be too much to put on everyone’s shoulders. Baby Kai was fussy and sleepy. No fun for watching a movie.
“Um, we’ll see. I’m hyung for now, okay?” Kai replied. Referring to himself as hyung made his ears turn red.
“Okayy…we’ll see.” Yeonjun repeated cutely. He did a little stretch and settled down by laying his head on Kai’s lap; aka the perfect spot to get his hair played with.
Together they scrolled through the movies while the other puttered around, getting drinks and snacks. Beomgyu returned quickly with Roo and surprised Kai with one of his molang’s. He made both plushies kiss their respective owners cheek and handed them over. Yeonjun giggled contently and nuzzled Roo into his face. When Soobin and Taehyun came back they brought a tray of goodies with them. Yeonjun went straight for the sippy cup of chocolate milk while everyone else had some cookies.
“What’d you guys pick?” Taehyun asked with a mouth full of half chewed up cookie.
“I think…Snow white but the Hello Kitty one.” Kai mumbled, looking down at Yeonjun for conformation.
“Yup! The bread looks yummy.” Yeonjun confirmed.
“The cartoon bread…?” Soobin trailed off unsurely.
“Mhm!”
“O-Okay. I’ve never thought about eating cartoon bread before.” Soobin chuckled softly. Yeonjun was a silly little boy sometimes.

not scared, at all!
ageretober day 4 ‘blackout’ ; cg yeonjun, little soobin ; wc 1.1k
soobin is currently standing in front of their sheets and blankets closet. he spaces out staring at the white linen and soft fluffy meticulously folded up blankets. he’s mostly listening to the rain. there’s beats of light thunder and each one sends a shiver through soobin’s soul. he’s not scared of thunder. at all! his floaty and regressing consciousness reminds him. he glances out a window and sees the cold rain pelting on the window. there’s some cars zooming by, splashing the water as they go. the pumpkin spice candle that yeonjun is obsessed with fills his nose and makes it tingle. he gets stuffy in the fall and smells make it worse. but, the pumpkin spice just reminds him of dada. and everything around him feels a bit bigger. his little mind tells his big body to grab a couple of blankets and bring them to the living room for their fort.
he walks into the living room, soft incandescent light bulbs hidden behind lamp shades fill the room with a comforting glow. fairy lights line behind the tv and around some of the perimeter of the ceiling, before drooping down the space above their couch. he loves their little cozy dorm. it helps him get away from the chaos of his regular idol life. but then again, sometimes the life away from idol life gets exhausting too. his big mind supplies him, “you’re regressed,” and his little mind tells him, “five.”
yeonjun is carrying a chair a few inches above the ground and placing it on their soft plush carpet. soobin stares at it. he knows it would feel nice if he stood on it. he bites his lip and steps onto the carpet. his feet sink into the fabric and he smiles. he looks up and sees yeonjun buzzing around like a bee trying to set up their fort. soobin wonders about what they would do in their fort. maybe play? cuddle? watch a movie? tell scary stories? soobin shifted on his feet in excitement. he got lost in his thoughts about the unbuilt fort as he was holding the materials for it. he doesn’t even register yeonjun taking the blankets from his arms until he can’t feel the light warmth anymore. soobin decides to sit on the floor. criss cross apple sauce, he thinks
a few moments later, yeonjun finished. he yells a little, “ta-daaaa!” and soobin perks up. he immediately jumps onto his feet and he crawls into the fort. as soon as soobin climbed in and basked in the gentle dark amber glow that the lights and the blankets caused. everything was perfect for a few moments. until,
“zzt!” everything was silent. and dark. the only thing that could be heard was the wind howling. soobin yelps. the once comforting fort was now a maze as he tried feeling his way around. whines slipped from his lips and he felt smaller now. his hand landed on one of his plushies and he clutched it tight to his chest.
yeonjun, on the other hand, was making popcorn for a snack. he was suspecting it to be done in a few moments when the microwave shut off and the room went dark. yeonjun heard the wind and the rain. ah, a power outage. yeonjun smiled softly, as he was expecting and almost excited for one to happen on this stormy night. he grabbed his phone and turned on the flashlight to venture into the living room with a bowl of half popped popcorn.
tears welled up in soobin’s eyes. he wasn’t scared of the dark, he swore. he was scared of being alone. in a thunderstorm. in the dark. worst combination. he picked at the carpet as his cheeks became so flushed and his nose started to run from crying. he clutched his plushie in the other arm and patiently waited for yeonjun to come back. if he ever did come back. he heard footsteps against the hardwood floor and flinched. it had to be a monster. or yeonjun. soobin squeezed his eyes shut when he heard something coming up to the door of the fort. he wanted this monster to go away and for yeonjun to come back. the shadowed figure then yelled “BOO!” loudly and pounced on soobin. yeonjun, the shadowed figure, pushed on soobin’s shoulders, causing him to fall back and hit the cushioned ground. soobin screamed in a high pitched scream and burrowed away into a corner of the fort.
he covered his ears and shut his eyes. “go away go away go away!!” he muttered under his breath, tone hushed and scared. yeonjun’s eyes widened in shock as he realized what he did. he quickly grabbed his phone from where he tossed it haphazardly and turned on the flashlight, turning it towards his face.
“hey, hey, it’s just me, soobie! I’m sorry i scared you!” yeonjun said sweetly. he felt so bad that he scared his baby. soobin usually enjoyed getting playfully spooked by yeonjun and usually giggled like crazy after. but, yeonjun just caught him at a bad time.
soobin sniffled, tears still spilling out from his eyes as he registered hwo was in front of him. it was just dada! no monsters would be in his fort! him and his dada made it! it’s full of love and pumpkin spice candles and soft blankets and thunder storms and fairy lights. soobin feels a little dumb. He rubbed his cheeks with his fists and he smiled, “dada! you scared me!” he giggled after, extending his arms to invite yeonjun to come closer.
yeonjun did just that, but then flipped them so soobin was the one in yeonjun’s lap. “yeah, i did. didn’t i? I’m sorry again, sweets. did the power outage scare you?” soobin’s thumb had now popped into his mouth and he hummed a little in lieu of a yes. yeonjun would normally replace his thumb with a paci but he just decided to let soobin be. he was quite still startled.
“was scary. loud storm n no lights. didn’t know where dada was!” soobin said, speech slightly skewed by the thumb in his mouth. his tone was so babyish and full of surprise. yeonjun smiled down at his baby so fondly. He petted his hair and softly said, “i bet it was scary, but you were brave and stayed put for daddy, didn’t you?” soobin nodded again and he snuggled into yeonjun more. yeonjun grabbed a few pieces of popcorn from the bowl and soobin watched. he then opened his mouth like a baby bird and yeonjun dropped a few pieces into his mouth. he contently nommed and was starting to drift off to the sound of yeonjun’s heartbeat and breathing. until…
“zzt!” everything came back to life. the apartment was now full of light. soobin immediately woke up and was seemingly full of energy now. now that he could see, this meant that it was time for him to play with his plushies in the fort! -`♡´-

Scared of the dark R!🐱
✦✧✦✧ Ageretober Day 4 ✦✧✦✧
Summary: Taehyun’s up late when he’s not supposed to be and the power shuts off!
Word Count: 2,066
Taehyun was up much later than the rest of the boys. Shhh! It’s a secret. It was against the rules to be little all by himself without notifying anyone, but he just couldn’t sleep. He tossed and turned, his mind drifting toward his headspace, until all he could think about was Mario Kart on the tv. No one was out there using it, it could be all his! There wouldn’t be anyone asking to watch a show or join in on his game, just him. So, that’s how he ended up being awake well past 2am with his second juice box in his hand and Beomgyu’s switch hooked up to the tv. He spent the first half hour sat on the floor right in front of the big screen. The colors and music of the Rainbow Road track were mesmerizing. He didn’t even care that Bowser kept falling off the sides of the track, or that he came in 10th place. No one else was there to gloat and make him angry.
After awhile, Taehyun felt chilly and wrapped up in a thick blanket on the couch. It was super windy outside and raining heavily. He didn’t like it. The wind made scary sounds against the window panes that made him feel unsettled. To tune it out, he loaded up Beomgyu’s animal crossing island and turned up the volume so he could bop his head to the music. He changed the characters outfit to farmer and went around the island watering plants and harvesting crops. The villagers were very talkative and cute, but he couldn’t keep up with what they were telling him. He was peacefully engrossed in the digital world and went fishing for snapping turtles that he wanted to leave out in Beomgyu’s house to prank him.
Taehyun was antsy after so much juice, but continued to play the game. The storm outside grew gustier and suddenly- *zzt* all the lights went out, even the tv screen displaying Diana in a new dress. Taehyun froze. He couldn’t see a thing! There wasn’t an ounce of light coming from beyond their windows or anything from their electronics. His lip trembled and heart started to pound. Pictures of monsters and skeletons flashed through his mind on repeat. He knew there weren’t any there, but it felt like there was, like there were eyes on him that he couldn’t see.
Taehyun was alone in the dark, small and afraid. His instincts for comfort shot into high alert and had him running blindly to Yeonjun’s room. It was like he was being chased. His body knew the way, but he still bumped into part of a wall in his panic. He whined in the back of his throat after knocking into the door and frantically pushed it open.
“Dadaaa!” Taehyun cried. He stumbled into the direction of the bed and dove into Yeonjun’s body.
“Wha-?!” Yeonjun jolted and shot upright at the intruder. He felt all over the place to figure out who it was, but Taehyun did that for him.
“Dada, Dada! Too dark.” He wept. Yeonjun sighed upon realizing he wasn’t getting abducted and wrapped his arms around Taehyun’s body.
“Gosh, you startled me. Did you have a nightmare?”
Taehyun whined and shoved himself into Yeonjun’s chest, going limp and wrapping around his entire body koala bear. The adrenaline of running away from danger started to diminish once he was safe in the older’s arms.
“M’scared of the dark.” He mewled. That was no secret to anyone of them. Taehyun always flocked to the eldest’s when a room went dark or they walked through a place with little light.
“I know you are.” Yeonjun replied, keeping one hand on Taehyun’s back and reaching over with the other to turn on his bedside lamp. He made a confused noise when it clicked but didn’t turn on. Then he noticed that the ac wasn’t humming like usual.
“Is the power out?” He mumbled to himself.
“Yeah, all the lights went out. I hate it.” Taehyun murmured sadly.
“Were you up?” Yeonjun asked. When Taehyun didn’t answer, essentially proving himself guilty, he grabbed around the nightstand for his phone and groaned at the time.
“Taehyun-ah, it’s 3:50 am! You shouldn’t be up right now. Have you slept at all? How long have you been little?” Yeonjun scolded and asked, trying to wrap his head around the situation with his sleep muddled brain.
“I dunno…I was okay. I had some juice and got it by myself! Then played games. I caught turtles.” Taehyun rambled quietly. Yeonjun just sighed.
Even though Taehyun was just fine on his own, there were reasons why he needed to tell someone he was little. For example, so he didn’t stay up until nearly 4am, guaranteeing a miserable day to come. It wasn’t out of character for Taehyun to crave some independence and alone time, but missing crucial hours of sleep to do so wasn’t the healthiest way to go about it. It would only make him overtired and moody.
“Honey, you should’ve come gotten me. It’s not okay to be up this late. You need sleep.” Yeonjun explained. He could feel Taehyun tense up against him.
“I’m sowwy…” He whispered.
“I know, it’s okay.”
“Jus’ trying to be a big boy.” Taehyun sulked.
“But you’re a little boy right now, aren’t you?” Yeonjun said rhetorically. He felt Taehyun nod against him. If he could see his face clearly, he was sure Taehyun would be bright red and avoiding eye contact.
“That’s what I thought. You don’t have to be a big boy, sweetheart. I’m here for you.” Yeonjun quietly reassured.
Taehyun rarely showed his vulnerable side outside of their home. He bottled things up and carried them around until he felt safe enough to explode. Then he’d pick himself up with some help from the other boys. They coddled him, dried his tears, gave him hugs when he needed them the most and protected him. Nine times out of ten, he let himself collapse into their arms, but only when it was just the five of them hidden behind closed doors.
“Please make the lights come back.” Taehyun pouted, continuing to hide in Yeonjun’s neck.
“I’m not a wizard, baby. But, I know what we can do.” Yeonjun chuckled and tapped his phone flash light on. In the pale white glow he could see Taehyun’s round eyes staring up at him and the worried look on his face.
“There you are.” He smiled, giving Taehyun’s cheek a little squeeze. It wasn’t the greatest lighting, but it would do. Shadows grew awkwardly up the walls from the small shining light and it didn’t light up the whole space. Taehyun wasn’t impressed.
“Now, I can see my little night owl. Are you getting sleepy yet? I think we should go to bed.” Yeonjun yawned.
“No.” It was a lie. Taehyun was feeling sleepy.
“I have to pee.” He deadpanned. Yeonjun snorted. Taehyun had a way with changing the subject in the least subtle way possible. He clambered off of the bed and stood over the eldest with his hand out.
“Come with me. It’s scary.”
“Alright…” Yeonjun sighed. He let Taehyun grab hold of his hand and carried his phone in the other to light the way.
Once they were at the bathroom, Yeonjun held out the phone for Taehyun to take so he could close the door, but the little frantically shook his head. He tried to pull Yeonjun into the room with him, but whined when he was told not to. Someone had to keep the monsters in the shower away! Taehyun fussed enough to get him to stand by the sink facing the other way and quickly used the bathroom. He latched on to Yeonjun’s arm the second he was done. So many creepy things were appearing in his head just from being out in the open.
“I’m right here. Wash your hands, now.” Yeonjun said gently, turning the water on for him.
After the trip to the bathroom, Yeonjun brought Taehyun back to his room with him and helped him get settled in the bed. He wasn’t going to bother trying to send Taehyun back to his own room. It wasn’t worth the lack of sleep. Yeonjun climbed in after him and left his phone with the flashlight still on, facing upright on the night stand. Taehyun shimmied closer to his side and held onto his arm like he was hugging a pillow. Yeonjun’s eyelids felt so heavy. He had no idea how Taehyun was still awake.
“Okay, shut your eyes, sweetheart. Let’s try to get some sleep.” Yeonjun went to turn off his phone light but was stopped by a small voice.
“Dada don’t!”
“It’s okay, I’ll be right here. You won’t even know it’s dark with your eyes closed.”
“Still…leave it please.” Taehyun requested. Yeonjun decided to leave it and let him have his way. Anything to get him to sleep.
“Okay, I’ll leave it on. Goodnight, honey.”
“Nigh’Night.”
The next morning
Once Taehyun fell asleep, he was out cold. So was Yeonjun. They both slept soundly for several hours until the sun was shining in their eyes. Even then, Taehyun just rolled over and tucked his head into Yeonjun’s shoulder. The rest of the house was awake by then and slowly making their way out of their rooms. Beomgyu was the first one to the living room and stood there with a perplexed look when he saw his animal crossing home displayed on the tv screen. It was the sound of the music playing loudly from the speakers that brought him there. K.K. Lullaby, the song that played on repeat in his house. The first thing that came to mind was that Kai had booted it up for some reason. He didn’t have to look hard for him because he shuffled in a second later.
“Were you playing this?” Beomgyu asked suspiciously.
“Hm? When…this morning?” Kai mumbled, lazily flopping onto the couch.
“Yeah.”
“No, not me. I was on my phone til now.”
“Then why is it on?” Beomgyu pointed out bluntly.
“I don’t know. Go ask Soobin hyung, maybe it was him.”
Beomgyu turned around to go find Soobin, but stopped when he noticed Yeonjun coming down the hall towards him with Taehyun in his arms. He looked like he just came out of a coma, squinting his eyes and looking around slightly dazed. Taehyun seemed to still be asleep.
“What’s with the music?” Yeonjun asked, his voice unusually rough, only ever sounding like that when he first woke up.
“That’s what Im trying to figure out. Did Soobin touch my switch and play with it?” Beomgyu said, growing more irritated with the lack of answers.
“Not that I’m aware of. The power was out last time I was up with this one.” Yeonjun explained, gesturing to Taehyun by tilting his head.
“Really? I didn’t notice it.”
“Yeah, cause it was 4am which is apparently little Taehyun’s witching hour. It went out and scared him.”
With all the talking happening right by his head, Taehyun shifted and blinked awake. He listened to what they were saying and needed to interject immediately.
“I wasn’t scared.” He defended, accidentally using a very whiny and tired tone.
“Whatever you say, baby. What were doing for so long by yourself last night?” Beomgyu asked.
“Playin’ games. Found lots of..hmp..turtles.” Taehyun mumbled, yawning mid sentence and closing his eyes.
“I see. So you’re the culprit then. Honestly, I had you last on my list of suspects.” Beomgyu stated with his hands on his hips. Mystery solved. Taehyun grunted absentmindedly. He didn’t really know what was going on.
“Dada…tired.”
Yeonjun internally groaned and tsked, following Beomgyu to living room so he could sit down. He knew this would happen, and it would only get worse throughout the day. If he was lucky, Taehyun would go back to normal and keep his complaints to himself, but by looks of things, that wasn’t going to happen. Curled up in his lap was Taehyun, dozing off with his thumb in his mouth. His heart could’ve exploded. Taehyun was so cute when he was sleepy and snuggly. Maybe he would take the opportunity to cuddle all day and laze around with his baby. That sounded much better than trying to go about their normal routine.

soft, safe, warm.
ageretober day 2 ‘fireplace’ ; cg yeonjun, little soobin ; wc 245
soobin is a naturally cold person. during the fall and winter months, he always has a small portable heater running in his room to stay warm. he owns plenty of soft fuzzy oversized hoodies and piles of blankets. he feels so safe and warm when he’s cuddled up inside of them. it’s even better when he’s in his hoodies and under his blankets in his caregiver yeonjun’s arms. yeonjun is a naturally warm person. sleeps with the window open, letting the chilly air cool his flushed cheeks. he wears open tank tops and sleeps with only a thin sheet. soobin prefers yeonjun as his portable heater much more than the one that makes noise and blows all night. yeonjun is quiet, most of the time. he’s warm, all of the time. soobin sits by the fireplace on cold october nights with his hoodie and a blanket wrapped around him. the crackling and the soft amber glow makes soobin just feel so safe and even more smaller. his worried thoughts thin out and he feels a sense of buoyancy. he then feels a pair of strong but gentle toned arms wrap around him, just like his blanket. it’s yeonjun, his daddy. soobin sighs and nibbles on his thumb a bit as he feels so so so warm. the heat of the fire, the warmth of yeonjun, and the plush of his hoodies and blankets are enough to lull him off to sleep like an unsung lullaby.

pretty pink princess
cg soobin, little yeonjun ; wc 2.2k
Yeonjun had been in his room, mindlessly scrolling through his different social media. Twitter, Tiktok, Instagram, Messages, and then the loop repeats again. He was flicking through his explore page on Instagram when he came across a post from a Lolita and Hime Gyaru fashion page. The frilly dress shown in the picture was pink and had sparkles all over it. The sight made Yeonjun’s eyes twinkle and his mouth hang open in awe. He clicked on the page and scrolled through all the listings of dresses and accessories coated in laces, bows, flowers, pink, and glitter. Yeonjun had been particularly interested in dressing more feminine lately, but it was mostly just tennis skirts and maybe some crop tops, but this. This was something Yeonjun definitely wanted to try. His subconscious, upon seeing the frilly bows and dresses, started to feel a little more floaty. A childlike giddiness bloomed in his heart and he let out a little squeal, barely even audible. Yeonjun held his phone close to his face and rolled over onto his side, kicking his feet. Yeonjun’s toddler mindset concluded that he needed to look like those girls in the pretty dresses and stat.
So, he quickly jumped out of his bed, throwing his phone somewhere in the covers, and heading towards his closet. He opened the doors and started quickly rifling through his drawers, in search of his skirts that he had hidden. His members weren’t against him dressing in a feminine way; in fact they usually encouraged it most of the time. But, Yeonjun gets a little embarrassed and blushy when they do see him dressing more girly than usual. So he prefers to keep his ever growing collection of skirts and frilly tops a secret buried deep inside his closet.
After some digging, Yeonjun had found a light pink skirt with white lace stitched on the ends. It was pleated so when he spinned in it, the skirt fanned out in a gorgeous way that Yeonjun loved. He set it aside and started looking for a top. A couple caught his eye, but he ultimately picked out a soft, light cream colored off the shoulder top with little bow patterns sewn into the fabric. He squealed again and set the pieces on his bed. Now time for accessories, Yeonjun thought as he bounced on his toes out of excitement. Yeonjun hadn’t accumulated a lot of accessories yet, but he knew he had kept some of the fluffy cat ears and sanrio headbands from fansigns before. He had a box specifically for those gifts in his closet. And so, Yeonjun dug through that box until he found a small piece of cardboard with some pink and my melody themed hair clips attached to it. Yeonjun knew that these would match perfectly with his skirt and sweater.
Feeling accomplished, he picks up the articles of clothing and his hair clips and heads to his bathroom. He changes and immediately twirls in his skirt. The skirt waves out and Yeonjun giggles and squeals because of how pretty he feels. He looks in the bathroom mirror, carefully snapping the clips into his hair. He smiles after he finishes and skips out of his bathroom to go look at himself in the full size mirror he has in his bedroom.
Once he reaches this said mirror, he twirls once again. He smooths out the sweater and the skirt and admires just how pretty he feels in his outfit that he picked out all by himself! As he’s looking in the mirror, the reflection of a stuffed fox sitting on his bed catches his eye. He completely forgot to ask his plushies how they feel about his outfit! Their opinions matter heavily as they see Yeonjun in his worst and his best moments. He then gets reminded of his daddy, Soobin! Yeonjun wonders what Soobin would think of him in his pretty outfit. Soobin had always enjoyed and encouraged Yeonjun to dress up femininely and never missed the chance to compliment him profusely when he did. As Yeonjun stared at his plushies, he glanced back at the mirror and couldn’t help but feel like something was missing from his outfit.
He walks closer to the bed and does a little spin for the array of plushies that are all sitting in a line obediently on Yeonjun’s bed. “What you guys think?” He does another twirl, just so his plushies can get another look at the full outfit. In reality, there’s no response from his plushies. But in tiny Yeonjun’s world, there is. They all reply in some variation that it looks really good and that jjunie looks like a princess with his hair clips adorning his hair. Yeonjun smoothes out the skirt one more time and he feels his headspace start to tumble even younger. He babbles out, “‘s jjunie pwetty? Will daddy fink jjunie’s pwetty?” He drags out the ‘y’ sound and does a little curtsey, holding the sides of his skirt. He giggles again and grabs his phone off his bed to take some pictures. He stands in front of the mirror and poses, snapping a couple pictures. He squeals excitedly as he looks through them.
In his little bubble, he doesn’t notice the sound of the door creaking open. Yeonjun looks up from his phone and sees a figure standing in the doorframe. It’s Soobin! While Yeonjun should feel excited to see his daddy, he can’t help but blush and almost curl in on himself standing there. He ducks his head down, trying to avoid Soobin’s gaze. Nothing malicious is in that gaze, it’s only fondness, but Yeonjun just can’t help the scared feeling bubble up inside his gut.
Soobin walks up to his Jjunie and runs his hands through his hair, carefully avoiding the snapped clips. Soobin says softly, “You look gorgeous, angel.” At this, Yeonjun’s head perks up and he looks at Soobin with his puppy dog eyes, twinkling. “Really? Daddy fink jjunie pretty?” Soobin coos at this, crazy to think that Yeonjun thought he wouldn’t find him in a cute skirt and a soft sweater, absolutely adorable.
“Of course, darling. What makes you think I wouldn’t think you’re pretty?” Yeonjun blushes and whines, hiding his face into Soobin’s chest. His thumb starts to slowly creep up into his mouth as he babbles, “I dunno.” It’s muffled and quiet, as if he was even more embarrassed at admitting that he didn’t think daddy would think he was pretty.
They cuddle like that for a moment, Yeonjun trying to bury his face more into Yeonjun’s chest and Soobin wrapping his arms around his waist. It’s soft and pure, and Yeonjun feels nothing but safe in his caregiver’s arms. They’re still standing in front of the mirror and Yeonjun looks into it, still wondering what could be missing from his outfit. He pulls away from Soobin, who just smiles fondly at him. His eyes dart around his vanity, trying to find some accessory or something extra to add to his outfit. But just then, his eyes land on a bottle of light pink nail polish. That was it! Yeonjun rushes over to the vanity and shows Soobin the small bottle of pink polish.
“Daddy! Can you paint my nails? Please?” Yeonjun asks, shoving the bottle in Soobin’s hands and bouncing up and down. Soobin sighs happily, “Of course, love,” not able to say no to Yeonjun, ever, big or small. Saying no is just not a choice when it comes to him.
Yeonjun plops onto the ground, folding his legs into a criss cross. He stretches out his fingers and sets his hands onto the carpet. Soobin sits down on the floor in front of Yeonjun and unscrews the cap to the nail polish bottle ever so carefully. “Okay, you ready, jjunie?” Soobin asks with the gentlest tone ever, and Yeonjun feels impossibly smaller. Yeonjun does a little excited nod and Soobin gets to work. He picks up Yeonjun’s left hand so gracefully, as if it was a fragile object. Soobin takes the cap of the nail polish and brushes the bristles against Yeonjun’s pointer finger, covering it in a baby pink. He makes sure that it’s a thorough starting coat before he moves onto his baby’s middle finger.
He continues the same process, and when he’s done with the first two fingers, he looks up at Yeonjun. He has the cutest happy smile on his face and his eyes are squinted up into little crescents. It’s clear that he’s holding in a squeal or from squirming so he doesn’t mess up his daddy’s work. Soobin thinks the sight is so precious and continues painting Yeonjun’s nails. Small things like this make baby jjunie so full of joy and Soobin is glad that he can get moments like these in their crazy and very overwhelming life.
Soobin reaches the last finger, which is the thumb. He coats it in that same shade of baby pink and places Yeonjun’s hand gently back down on the carpet for the polish to dry. He picks up Yeonjun’s right hand and repeats his process once again.
It’s so quiet, save for Yeonjun’s tiny squeals of happiness every time Soobin finishes painting a finger. They are both in this soft bubble of fluffy clouds floating endlessly, and the pair both don't want it to end. Soobin finishes Yeonjun’s right hand, and even though all 10 fingers are coated with a good layer of polish, Soobin decides to do another coat and picks up Yeonjun’s left hand again. Yeonjun’s happy squeals and tiny wiggles come back and Soobin smiles fondly.
He finishes with the second coat on all 10 fingers and the pair waits for them to dry. After a few moments, Soobin tests to see if the fingers are dry by carefully touching them. Fortunately, no wet polish leaves a residue on Soobin’s fingers. Yeonjun jumps up and squeals when he looks at his hands. He bounces on his heels and smiles so wide. “Thank you, dada! They so pretty! M a pretty princess now!”
Soobin ruffles his hair and says, “You’re welcome, angel. You’re the prettiest princess out there. Do you wanna go show the others?”
Yeonjun jumps again and hums out a sound of agreement. The two go out of Yeonjun’s room and make their way to the living room. To Soobin’s reply, the trio is all sitting on the couch. Beomgyu and Kai are playing a multiplayer game while Taehyun is watching them, being their cheerleader. Yeonjun sees them and runs in front of the TV, ultimately blocking their view. Beomgyu and Kai get a bit irritated at this as it causes them both to lose at the same time.
Beomgyu yells out first, “Yah! Yeonjun, why did you do that?” Yeonjun pouts, not used to someone yelling at him when he was so excited. He crosses his arms and responds, “I was going to show you something!”
“Well, you didn’t need to stand in front of the TV when we were clearly in the middle of something. God, thought you were smarter than that,” He mumbles the last part and rolls his eyes with annoyance. Yeonjun heard it, and started tearing up at his hyung being so mean to him when he did nothing wrong. He back talks, frustrated, “Well, Jjunie didn’t know! Jjunie was ‘scited…” He trails off, wiping a tear from his eye that was threatening to fall. Beomgyu realizes that his hyung was in fact not his hyung and was regressed. He instantly felt bad as Soobin went to console the upset baby.
“A-ah… J-junie I didn’t know you regressed! I’m really sorry!” He jumps out of his place from the couch and goes to give Yeonjun a hug, who pushes him off of him. Beomgyu pouts and sits back on his heels. He feels really bad, and Yeonjun doesn’t look like he will be forgiving him. Yeonjun is pouting even more and hiding his pouty and teary eyed face in Soobin’s chest, his thumb coming up to his lips to nibble on once again. Beomgyu then remembers that Yeonjun wanted to show him something, and that’s why he jumped in front of the TV.
Beomgyu carefully says, “What were you gonna show me, jun?” Yeonjun shys away even more but shoots out his hand regardless. Beomgyu oohs and ahhs at the pretty pink color coating Yeonjun’s nails. Yeonjun’s teary eyed face has now turned pink from the attention he was getting. The maknaes had also come over to look at his nails. They had also found them gorgeous and were admiring them, treating their baby jjunie as the princess he was.
Soobin speaks from above, “Hey, why don’t we watch a movie to settle down, alright princess?” Yeonjun nods against his chest and hesitantly departs. Taehyun offers to go pop a bowl of popcorn and Beomgyu went to go get drinks. Kai and Yeonjun sit down on the couch while Soobin goes to pick out their comfiest blankets. Kai scrolls through the movie options before Yeonjun points out Moana. Everybody comes back with what they were assigned to get and they all settle in. Kai then brought up the idea to make a fort out of the pillows and blankets they had accumulated. Baby Yeonjun had gotten so excited about this and squealed out a “yes, please!” at the suggestion.
And so, that’s how Yeonjun’s evening ended. Just a princess in his princess fort, surrounded by his princes watching a movie.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAA SO CUTE
Txt Agere Series Part 5
🍭 Sweet Tooth
🎁 No Tw
Summary: Kai has a hard time while filming a festive episode of todo and can’t keep himself above the surface when things start to go wrong.
Christmas time held the brightest, warmest memories of Hyuka’ childhood. Making cookies with his sisters, writing poorly written letters to santa, decorating the tree with twinkling lights, and so much more. As he got older the magic faded, even though he swore it never would. Christmas became a little sad for a few years of his adolescence, but he eventually regained the same excitement and joy he longed for. As a regressor, Christmas made him buzz with energy that he had to hide until meeting his members.
Kai didn’t get to regress all that often, always too busy or too tired. Every other month or so, he found himself shrinking inside, his thoughts becoming simpler, and his impulsivity tripling. He didn’t have the same social skills when he felt small, so he tended to just say whatever was on his mind or do what he wanted. It was usually very sweet. Kai would waddle over to Soobin in the kitchen and wrap his arms around his middle, smelling his shirt or nibbling on it. Sometimes he babbled contently to himself while eating or playing. On occasion, it became an issue.
In public settings, surrounded by staff and cameras, it wasn’t ideal to have Kai sticking his fingers in his mouth, or whining and stomping his foot because he didn’t get his way. But, despite that they managed.
With the upcoming holiday, their todo production team came up with a two part special to release. They would be making gingerbread houses and playing a game with mystery presents. It sounded laid back and fun. Most them had no experience building houses out of cookies, so it was sure to be something interesting. The day of filming arrived and Kai was feeling a little on edge. He hadn’t regressed much the last couple months, and felt the need to building up. Driving down the street, walking through the rented vacation house and settling down in the filming room didn’t make it any easier with all the cheerful decorations put up.
Kai willed the sinking in his stomach away and rubbed the tension out of his face. He tried listening in on the grown ups- he means staff’s conversation, hoping to join into a mature topic. That would keep him from slipping. Unfortunately, all he heard was filming jargon and present talk. He sighed and tapped his knees. Sitting next to Yeonjun was a good thing, at least. He was able to spot Kai regressing from an ocean away.
Kai knew that if he really needed to, he could skip out on filming for the day, but that would ruin everything. The entire thing was already planned out, all the staff were there to work, and he would make moa worry if he was absent. There wasn’t much else to do but stay grounded. He managed to stay afloat while they had a snack, but grew antsy while everyone picked presents. He couldn’t remember what he wrote down about a members habit on a sheet of paper, so he couldn’t get them to do it. It made him accidentally zone out for a couple minutes.
Stealing the lego set from Yeonjun brought his spirits back up. When they were presented with trays of candy to decorate their little houses with, Kai’s eyes instantly lit up. His teeth showed with his smile and he couldn’t help but giggle to himself, feeling much lighter inside. Without a second thought, he grabbed a piece of candy and ate it. Then another, and maybe one more. He was already getting lightheartedly teased for having a sweet tooth.
He continued to play around with his cookie house pieces while chewing on a marshmallow. The others conversed naturally, figuring out that the houses didn’t need a floor. Kai missed that direction. Still unfocused and in between headspaces, he looked at what he had to work with and started using the icing like glue on the sides of the cookies. He figured they needed a base to connect to at the bottom, but when he looked to his left he realized no one else had done that. His cheeks pinked up with embarrassment.
Kai didn’t show it, but his stomach was doing anxious flips because he was going to stand out for his mistake, rather than his creativity. The comments were sure to point it out, too. He did his best to ignore the laughter around him, and quietly took it all apart. Had they been at home, with no cameras in sight, Kai would’ve snapped at them to stop. A few minutes passed and he didn’t make much progress. How could he focus on building when there were so many colorful yummy sweets right in front of him! Even the icing was tasty.
Yeonjun pointed out his snacking multiple times, which he didn’t appreciate but tried to smile off. He knew the eldest was just messing with him because he stole the present he wanted, but it still stung a little bit. Kai stayed in his own little world and eventually reached the point where he could put the roof on his house. He took both pieces and held his breath, as he lowered them.
thwump.
And just like that, the messy house caved in on itself. A symphony of gasps and oh no’s bounced around the room, Soobin’s genuinely upset tone snapping the last thread he had holding himself together. Kai stared down at his pitiful mess of cookies and froze up. He was slipping quickly with nothing to catch himself. Multiple voices were speaking towards him, but he barely registered them, too overwhelmed by the fact that he was being recorded in exquisite resolution that would catch his tears. He lip trembled where the staff couldn’t see it with his head down, but Beomgyu and Yeonjun could.
“Kai-ah? Hey, it’s alright. It’s just a silly project.” The eldest tried to reassure. He didn’t understand that it wasn’t just a silly project to Kai.
It was an activity he wanted to participate in because he thought he could float between headspace’s while he did it. Everyone else found it easy-peasy, but it was much more challenging for Kai than he initially predicted. His hands weren’t anymore cooperative than his mind. He looked like an idiot by missing directions and getting distracted by candy and ribbons. He was so, so embarrassed.
Kai curled up into a ball and hid his face in his knees. The tears weren’t going to disappear until they ran down his cheeks and dried up. His body language was a clear enough sign to everyone that they needed to pause filming. The cameramen hit stop and the sound technician halted the recording of their mics. Kai wept, feeling the eyes on him from every direction. He felt a hand rubbing circles on his back and whimpered.
“Shhhh, it’s okay.” Yeonjun whispered.
“Don’t be sad, Kai. I had a hard time, too.” Beomgyu flat out lied, getting an unimpressed glare from the eldest. He was just trying to make him feel better.
“Wanna go home!” Kai mewled sadly, quiet enough for only Yeonjun to hear. He heard him sigh and let him tug him closer to his side for a hug.
“Are you little, sweetheart?” Yeonjun asked almost silently by his ear. Kai didn’t respond right away. Did he want to admit that to him?
“Mm.” He grunted instead.
“Well, let’s go wash your hands, yeah? You’re covered in icing.” Yeonjun suggested, chuckling towards the end of his sentence. Kai agreed and let Yeonjun lead him out of the room, trying to hide his tears with his messy hands.
“Alright, let’s try to wipe them off first…” Yeonjun said mostly to himself when they entered the bathroom. He snatched a small wad of paper towels and used them to remove the thick globs of sugar on Kai’s hands.
“That’s better. Now, water and soap.”
Kai liked it when Yeonjun narrated his actions around him. It kept him present and aware. He found it easy to space out to a somewhat unsettling degree, to the point of borderline dissociation, which sent him into a panic. They learned through experience that Kai needed the extra attention, unlike Beomgyu, who was pretty independent. As he slowly rubbed his hands together in the warm stream of water, Yeonjun took it upon himself to help Kai with his runny nose and damp cheeks. He blotted his face with a tissue going, “Bloop bloop bloop.” When they exited the bathroom, Kai held on to Yeonjun’s arm and hid behind his back. He didn’t feel safe in such an unfamiliar environment. There weren’t any stuffies or sippy cups around, his blankets were at home, and he didn’t like the pants stuck to his legs.
“Hmmnn!” Kai whined, attempting to pull Yeonjun down to the ground with him as he lowered himself. He landed on his butt with a huff and hugged the eldest’s legs to anchor him to the spot.
“Kai, no. C’mon, walk with hyung.” Yeonjun said gently, offering his hand out to the boy. He felt him rub his face against the side of his thigh and whimper.
“How’s it going?” They both looked up to see Beomgyu who had come to check on them. He had a sour ribbon candy hanging from his lips like a strange tongue.
“Uh, fine. Kai’s not exactly in the best position to be filmed right now, obviously.” Yeonjun sighed, gesturing to the body wrapped around his legs. Beomgyu chuckled and crouched down to Kai’s level.
“Me and Tyunnie put your house back together. Let’s go decorate it.” Beomgyu said happily. He certainly didn’t expect Kai to detach himself from Yeonjun’s legs and to start crawling away.
“Hey!” Yeonjun hissed, trying to keep Kai’s state under the radar. He grabbed the end of his sweater to stop him from getting away.
Kai whined grumpily and tried to keep going, but stopped when he felt the collar of his top tighten around his neck. Without any words left on his tongue to communicate, Kai pointed and whined in the direction of the large living room where two big couches lived.
“I guess it’s nap time. I didn’t know he was little.” Beomgyu commented, shoving his hands in his pockets and turning back to peek into the room they were waiting to resume filming in.
“Yeah, I don’t know why, though. Can you take him out there and I’ll go ask if we can take a break?” Yeonjun asked, helping Kai back to his feet.
“Sure. Follow me, pumpkin.” Beomgyu took Kai’s hand and lead him down the hall to the living room.
Kai took it upon himself to climb onto one of the couches and moved the decorative pillows around to make more room. Then he clumsily tugged a handmade knitted blanket down from where it lived on the back of the sofa and hid underneath it. He looked like a mound of vanilla ice cream with socked feet poking out. Beomgyu turned down the bright lights and joined Kai on the couch. He didn’t bother him, he knew Kai would come out after he self soothed for a little while.
Under the blanket, Kai stuck his two middle fingers in his mouth and thought about that stupid ginger bread house. He was mad it. The inanimate object ruined his day! Now he was grumpy like grumpy bear and wanted to take a nap. Beomgyu listened to him huff and babble to himself beneath the blanket. It was endearing and amusing to witness the maknae when he had a little fit. They couldn’t help it. His pouty lips and furrowed brows were too cute, and he always talked to himself, mumbling about whatever upset him. Yeonjun once said he acted like a grouchy gnome, whatever that meant.
So, when Kai pulled the blanket off his head he saw Beomgyu smiling away at nothing in particular. He whined and scooted closer to the other, in order to initiate cuddle time. Beomgyu laid back and let Kai lay on top of him like a wet towel. He held him close with one hand on his middle back and the other resting on his head. No words were exchanged for several minutes until the other boys wandered out to the living room.
“Ningie, we have something for you ~” Soobin sang, carrying a tray with small dishes of candy and chocolates, followed by Taehyun who had the (now put together) ginger bread house that Kai abandoned.
The icing had ample time to dry and work as glue to hold the structure together. They were positive it would be sturdy enough to withstand a little ones clumsy, sometimes heavy, hand. Kai watched them put everything down in the coffee table, but didn’t say anything. He had a love hate relationship forming with the cookies. Alas, the little boy in his heart took control and he slid off the sofa to sit criss-cross at the short table. The others joined him and waited for his next move.
Kai inspected the house for a moment and picked up a peppermint. He grunted once, pointing at the icing bag to ask for help. It had to stick on somehow. He wanted it to be a clock. Now, clocks didn’t usually go on the outside of buildings unless it was a church, library or town hall, but he didn’t care. The mint looked like a clock, so a clock it would be. Beomgyu picked up the baggie and squeezed a small blob onto the back of the candy and chuckled when Kai stuck it on the roof.
“Do you want to use these?” Yeonjun offered him some marshmallows. Kai took them and shoved them right into his mouth.
“Or eat them…” The eldest murmured, everyone else laughing quietly.
Kai took his time creating his ginger bread house, adding snow aka frosting blobs, some chocolate chips to line the top of the roof, and smooshed some sprinkles into different patches of icing all over the house. By the time he was done, he was covered in sugar all over again. He mischievously licked his fingers, giggling like a maniac and wiggling into Beomgyu’s side.
“Careful! You’re all messy.” He yelped, trying to avoid getting sticky sugar all over his sweater.
“Mhm…messy!” Kai grinned. He liked how that word felt in his mouth. “Messy, messy.”
“Baby, can Papa take your picture with your ginger bread house?” Yeonjun asked sweetly, already holding his phone up. Kai nodded and posed by poking his cheek and tilting his head sideways.
“So cute ~” The eldest cooed.
Kai giggled to himself for the millionth time and admired his cookie house and it’s beauty. He only whined when Soobin flew in with a baby wipe to clean up his hands and…forehead. Only Kai could accomplish that, he thought. He hushed Kai’s annoyed mewls and finished getting him nice and clean. After lining up all their decorated houses on the table and taking another picture, Kai was needing a real nap.
The boy pouted when he was sleepy and held up his arms to be carried. Soobin took it upon himself to lift him up and brought him to the closest spare bedroom on the first floor. He laid him down on the plush bed and lifted up his shirt to blow a raspberry on his tummy. Kai shrieked and burst into a fit of squealing laughter. Soobin gave him another and smiled warmly, laying down with him. Kai’s laughs toned down into drowsy giggles, as he settled down and stared to relax. He and Soobin laid on their sides facing each other silently for a little while.
“Try to go nigh-night, baby. Appa will be right here.” Soobin said softly, running his fingers through Kai’s hair and cupping the side of his face.
“Okay…promise?” Kai asked, already noticing the heaviness within his body and eyelids. It was warm and welcoming, like room full of pillows and blankets.
“Promise.”

Creepy Crawlies - R!Kai
(Tw: Spiders) And I know they aren’t technically bugs but I still call them that in this lol
Kai giggled contently in the bathtub, a red bath crayon in his hand and bubbles surrounding him. He dragged the crayon in crazy scribbles all over one of his drawings since he knew it had to be rinsed away soon. Soobin watched him with amused smirk on his face while he waited for the water to drain. Once it did he used the shower head to wash away the left over bubbles on Kai's skin and the artwork he made. He wrapped him up in a fluffy towel and ruffled his hair wildly with it to make him laugh.
"Okay, jammie time. Arms up!" Soobin said brightly after drying him off completely. He knelt down and helped him with his pants and dinosaur socks.
"There you go. Do you want to watch a movie be-"
"Ahhhh!!" Kai suddenly cried in Soobin's face, pointing over his shoulder. "Spider!"
Kai burst into tears and tried to climb on to Soobin's lap in a panic. He hated bugs! They scared him to death when he was little. Soobin stood up quickly and sat Kai back on the floor. He spun around frantically, searching for something to get rid of it with. He snatched a tissue box and spotted the spider on the floor.
"Nooo!! Don't kill it!" Kai wailed, flailing his arms.
"What do you mean? I thought you wanted it gone?"
"Gone gone! Don' hurt him! Will feel bad!"
"Okay, okay" Soobin said semi calmly over the loud cries. He dropped the tissue box and turned around, leaving to get a cup and piece of paper.
Huening kai couldn't help but stare down the vile creature. He hated it! He was so scared! But, if he didn't keep an eye on it he could lose it and it could come back to terrorize him. Tears kept falling down his pink cheeks, as he waited for Soobin's return. The spider crawled an inch in Kai's direction and he shrieked loudly. He pushed him self harder against the tiled wall, as if it could swallow him whole and keep him safe from the little beast.
Soobin sprinted back into the bathroom and immediately trapped the spider under a white cup. He approached Kai before actually catching it to calm him down. The boy was in hysterics, sobbing and squirming. Soobin hushed him and pulled him into his arms while he sat on the floor.
"It's okay, baby. Shhh, I'm taking care of it."
Sometimes the boys forgot how intense Kai's phobia of spiders truly was. He was usually alright with tiny ones, just some shivers and whining here and there, but there were specific ones that had a specific look to them that sent him into a fit of tears. Apparently, one of those kinds of spiders decided to tour their bathroom today.
"It's under a cup right now, so it won't get to you. I promise. It's alright, sweetheart." Kai had his eyes tightly squeezed shut and didn't dare to take a peek. His anxiety was pouring intrusive thoughts into his head about being covered with the bugs. He cried harder into Soobin's chest and begged him to get him out of there. He knew it was still close, the cup being over it didn't make it disappear; he knew that.
"Wan' go to Junnie! Want Papa! Please!" He hiccuped. Soobin acted instantly and carried Kai swiftly out of the bathroom and across the hall to Yeonjun's room. The eldest wasn't actually there, he was in some other room with headphones on, so Soobin texted him.
"Okay, you sit here all nice and comfy and I'll go get rid of the 'you know what' while you wait for your Papa. Okay?" Soobin said after plopping Kai on the mattress.
The youngest nodded hesitantly and watched Soobin re-enter the bathroom. Soobin crouched down to the floor and carefully slid the paper under the cup. Then he slowly picked it up, keeping the spider trapped inside and made his way to the door. Yeonjun skidded past him and ran up to Kai, nearly tackling him in a hug.
"How dare that stupid spider scare my baby Kai like that! I'll beat him up! Don't worry, I won't let him get you." Yeonjun said dramatically, wrapping Huening Kai up in a blanket like a sushi roll.
Kai used the blanket to wipe away the snot and tears covering his face and whimpered against Yeonjun. He felt two strong arms adjust him, so he was on Yeonjun's lap facing him comfortably. The eldests shoulder was a safe place to cry on.
"Hate em. This is our house not theirs!" He pouted.
"I know. They scare you quite a bit, yet you insist that we don't just kill them." Yeonjun replied, holding back a chuckle at how cute Kai was.
"Mh- But they dunno! Don't wanna em to hurt. It's not fair."
"Each day I am more convinced that you are secretly an angel, huening kai." Yeonjun smiled brightly and kissed his baby's head.
"Mission accomplished! Extermination complete." Soobin popped up in the door with a proud smile.
"How's he doing?" He asked, quiet enough for just Yeonjun to hear.
"We're getting there, expressing our hatred for spiders, questioning our morality. He'll be okay in a few." Yeonjun chuckled, rubbing Kai's back comfortingly.
Soobin nodded and moved into the room to take a seat next to them on the bed. Kai curiously lifted his head and looked at Soobin. Although glossy, his eyes were warm with innocence, like hot chocolate. He sniffled his last sniffle and wiggled to get off Yeonjun. They watched him stand up nervously, inspecting the floor and scanning the walls and ceiling with his eyes. He didn't move much, just the occasional random step.
"What're you doing, angel?" Soobin asked.
"Jus' making sure." Huening kai almost whispered. "I wanna go to bed but had to check for spiders"
"Ohh, okay. I don't see anything and if I do I'll take it outside immediately. Come lay down." Yeonjun said, hoping his words would soothe the little's worries.
"We can have a sleepover tonight." He added. Kai giggled and crawled back on Yeonjun's bed, nestling himself into the blankets and pillows.
"I'll go get Goguma, hang tight." Yeonjun said before getting up and leaving.
Kai pulled on Soobin's arm to get him to lay down and cuddled up to his side like a little kitten. He loved the warmth that came with close cuddles. Soobin pat his hair and used his phone to play the little ones lullaby playlist. The familiarity and somewhat nostalgic melodie's always soothed the boys and helped them sleep. Yeonjun returned with Kai's beloved bunny plush and made the toy give him kisses before laying down. He left on a small lamp, so it wasn't too dark, and let Kai get comfortable between him and Soobin.
"Promise no more buggies..." Kai asked softly with round eyes.
"Promise! We'll protect you, baby."
They both hooked their pinkies on each of Kai's and give them a kiss to seal the promise. Finally, the boy was able to fully relax and drift off to sleep.

tiny little bricks
cg soobin, little yeonjun ; wc 2.2k
The morning light shines through the blinds and forces Yeonjun to open his eyes. The first thing he feels as his consciousness floats to the surface is just that, floaty. He feels light and buoyant. His 23 mentality slishes and sloshes around in his brain before settling down and a floaty headspace of a toddler starts to make waves on his consciousness. He blinks once, twice, three times, and once more. Yeonjun feels a whine bubbling in his throat as he stretches his arms up out of the comforter. The stretches are little, and so is the rest of how his body is feeling. He feels so small this morning. He’s just a tiny seashell in this big big ocean of his bedroom.
He rolls over on his side and Yeonjun’s eyes meet Soobin’s back. He’s wearing a white shirt and it’s silently wrinkled from his moving around in bed. Yeonjun longs for his touch, his tiny muddled brain can’t seem to reach out to him. Yeonjun’s big subconscious reminds him in a small voice that Soobin has work today. Soobin doesn’t go far for his job, just a few times where his boss comes into town and he has to act like he doesn’t work from home 24/7, but he does have meetings in his office. This is something Yeonjun, big or little, can’t stand. He can’t bear the fact that just for an hour or two Soobin’s attention can’t be on him. Today just happens to be one of those days. So, taking into account that Yeonjun won’t get much Soobin today, he reaches out and snuggles his face into the crook of Soobin’s neck.
This cat-like action stirs Soobin awake. He turns over, and Yeonjun raises his head off of Soobin’s neck. Soobin smiles at him softly, still groggy from just being woken up. “Good morning Yeonjun hyung,” he says, voice raspy and this makes Yeonjun shy.
“Not hyung today. Baby,” Yeonjun whispers.
“Ah, okay. Hi baby,” Soobin acknowledges. Yeonjun secretly wishes Soobin would’ve asked how old he was, just for a little bit more attention, but his caregiver seems to be more focused on getting out of bed. “Let’s go get ready, jjunie,” Soobin says as he stands up.
“Okay!” Yeonjun jumps out of the bed, excitedly. He always looks forward to mornings with Sobin, and basically everything with Soobin. Soobin picks out his skincare headband and also picks one out for Yeonjun. “Baby, how old are you feeling? Do you want dada to do your skincare for you?”
Yeonjun feels shy again. He wanted this attention a couple minutes ago, but now it’s just making his cheeks flush a dusty pink. “Mmn… M three!” he proudly holds up three fingers, “N… can dada do it?”
“Of course, cutie,” Soobin helps Yeonjun rinse his face with water, and apply his toner, a serum, and some moisturizer. Yeonjun is pulling a little duck face and giggling the entire time. Soobin’s soft touches on Yeonjun’s skin only make him slip deeper into his soft headspace, filled with fluffy clouds that feel like Soobin’s arms and his sweaters. Before he knows it, the headband is being peeled off his head and Soobin is rinsing his face to do his routine too. Yeonjun just watches him with sparkles in his eyes. Soobin is his precious daddy, and Yeonjun is somehow so enamored by everything he does.
Soobin pats his face down with a hand towel and takes off his headband, carefully placing his and Yeonjun’s back in the drawer. He turns to face Yeonjun who has now retreated to sitting on the tile floor of their bathroom, fiddling with a stray hair tie on the ground. Soobin smiles and speaks up, “C’mon little prince, let’s go eat breakfast.” Yeonjun’s head perks up at the pet name and the mention of breakfast. Now that he thinks about it, his tummy has been growling at him. Soobin holds his hand out and Yeonjun grabs onto it, hoisting himself off the ground. But, most of that work was done by his strong appa.
Yeonjun waddles slowly behind Soobin to the kitchen. He feels smaller than ever, a cloudy haze filling his subconscious with only thoughts of Soobin’s cuddles and his bed. By the time Yeonjun reaches the kitchen table, Soobin is already pulling out a box of toaster waffles and popping them into the toaster. Little Yeonjun watches curiously as his hyung shuffles around the kitchen, pulling out plates and a bottle of syrup. Soobin places syrup and some utensils on the table that Yeonjun sat down at. He whines, tummy growling again. “Breakfast is coming soon, love,” And Yeonjun nods. Words just seem like too much right now.
The fresh and warm waffles are set on Yeonjun’s plate. They look so yummy but all Yeonjun can do is whine high in his throat. He looks up at Soobin, who is already eating his waffles. Yeonjun tries to speak, “D-dada,” he quietly croaks out. This gets Soobin’s attention and he sees his sweet baby pouting down at his waffles, untouched. Not even the utensils have moved from their place that Soobin set them in. “Aw, baby, you look like you need some help eating, hm?” Yeonjun whines and nods again, Soobin scooting over his chair and picking up the syrup. Soobin carefully drizzles it over Yeonjun’s waffles, seeing a smile grow on his baby's face. He picks up the fork and rips off a bite-sized piece of waffle. Soobin makes a “woosh”ing noise as he trails the fork towards Yeonjun’s mouth. He opens his mouth like a baby bird and closes his mouth around the waffle, chewing obediently. “Okay, my baby boy is gonna eat all of his food so he can have so much energy for the day, right?” Yeonjun eagerly nods and Soobin’s process continues. He gets a piece and tries his best to make each airplane and train show a little different for each bite.
Soobin gasps, “Wow! Look at that, my prince finished all his food. Such a good boy.”
“I'm a good listener.”
“Yes you are my sweet boy,” Soobin pets his hair softly, “Always listening to dada. My baby,” Soobin coos. Yeonjun blushes shyly at his caregiver’s praises. Soobin is such a sweet daddy, always praising his baby at every chance he gets and Yeonjun loves every second of it. He loves being praised for his hard work when he’s big, and it carries over for when he’s tiny. Even if his hard work is finishing all of his breakfast. Yeonjun is fiddling with his fork on his empty plate and Soobin speaks up,
“What do you want to do before daddy has to work, love?” Yeonjun perks up, eyes sparking with wonder and excitement for getting to spend time with Soobin. He thinks, little face scrunching up as he makes this super important decision. Yeonjun’s eyes bounce around the room, trying to come with an idea. His eyes drift towards a bin on the floor that has a scrawled on sharpie label that says, “Legos,” and Yeonjun’s eyes light up and he jumps out of his chair in excitement. “Dada, I wan play wif legos! Please? Please, can we play with legos, please!” He’s bouncing on the balls of his feet and his hands are in little fists, shaking around. Soobin smiles, “Of course, baby. Let’s go get them out.”
They both stand up and walk into their living room. Yeonjun plops on the floor, still jittering with excitement and pulls out his box of legos that he was eyeing earlier. He pops the cap off and gazes into the tub, eyes glistening. “Whatcha gonna make, jjunie bear?”
Yeonjun is pulling out different pieces from lego sets he’s bought over the years, the ones from the small packets, and also just random gifts. He keeps all the fancy cool ones displayed in his room. The pieces are small and even though baby Yeonjun is a bit more clumsier than big Yeonjun, he sticks out his tongue adorably as he focuses on latching the tiny little bricks together. “Jjunie makin a bakery wif bread for Soobie hyung!” He babbles, pulling out more bricks. It’s not really looking like a bakery, with rainbow colored walls, no roof, and it seems like Yeonjun is just pulling out bricks and attaching them to each other; not much thought is put into it. Regardless, Soobin is oh so fond of his sweet baby. “Ah, okay. Thank you so much, I’m sure it’ll look great.”
Yeonjun continues making creations out of the bricks and proudly showing them to his caregiver, who voices just that, how proud he is. Time slips by way too fast when Yeonjun is little because it’s around 1:30pm, which is the time Soobin’s meeting for work starts. He glances painfully at his baby, not wanting to break his childlike aura he has around him as he fumbles with the legos by telling him he has to do work. Soobin decides to not go into his office and to just listen to the meeting out in the living room with his Yeonjun. He might be a little bit distracted, but oh well. His laptop is sitting conveniently on the end table and Soobin grabs it and opens it, clicking on the zoom link in his email for the meeting. Yeonjun’s head perks up with curiosity once again and Soobin smiles warmly at him, playfully shushing him in advance. Yeonjun’s mouth makes a little ‘o’ shape and he puts his head back down, refocusing on his 10th creation with his legos.
Around half way through the hour-long meeting, Soobin can see Yeonjun getting antsy out of his peripheral vision. He’s no longer playing with legos and just rolling around on the floor. Soobin wishes deep inside his soul that he could just get off the meeting early and entertain his baby with all his block fantasies and creativities. Yeonjun doesn’t regress that much, being the oldest out of the couple so Soobin really cherishes these moments with his baby. Another 15 minutes pass, and Yeonjun is making whooshing noises with his block airplane that he made. He zooms around the living room and crash-landing the airplane onto the carpet, just to do it all over again. Every 5 minutes he changes vehicles, going from a plane to a train to a car to a motorcycle, all making the noises that accompany those machines. Soobin is just so endeared by his actions. The meeting ends and Soobin closes his laptop, setting it aside. He looks up and Yeonjun is whirling around a car in the air and making cute little noises with his mouth to resemble a car engine. Yeonjun realizes that Soobin has closed his laptop and Yeonjun drives the car in the air towards Soobin. He reaches him and plops down into his caregiver’s lap. Yeonjun’s mouth is in a cute little smile that looks like a ‘v’ and is looking up at Soobin. They stare fondly at each other for a few moments before Soobin breaks the silence, “Are you ready to clean up, angel?” Yeonjun obediently nods and starts breaking down his lego creations and placing the tiny little bricks back into their respective box. He finishes cleaning up and Soobin pets his hair.
Yeonjun whines and asks, “C-can we watch a movie? M tired.”
“Yeah you must be from all that playing,” Soobin sits down on their couch and pats the space next to him, Yeonjun eagerly filling up the spot Soobin offered, “What does my precious prince wanna watch?” He hands him the remote.
As expected, Yeonjun opens Disney+ and scrolls down to their favorites, clicking on Big Hero 6. Soobin ruffles Yeonjun’s hair as he snuggles into Soobin’s side.
A couple minutes into the movie, Yeonjun starts to nibble on the pad of his thumb. It slowly enters his mouth and he starts sucking on it. Soobin notices this and opens the drawer of the end table to find a paci he remembered putting there a couple days ago. The whine that Yeonjun lets out as his finger is pulled out of his mouth pains Soobin. But, his sadness is quickly replaced by a cute little smile as the paci is placed in his mouth. Throughout the rest of the movie, Yeonjun is slightly suckling on the paci and Soobin is rubbing circles on Yeonjun’s hand that he is holding. The movement causes Yeonjun’s eyes to flutter open and shut. Everytime he catches himself drifting off, he jerks awake, not wanting to miss his favorite movie. But, Soobin just eases him back into his side and rubs more shapes into Yeonjun’s hand and thigh.
Eventually, Yeonjun falls asleep. After all, playing with legos is a very serious and grueling task for babies as tiny as his Yeonjunnie. Soobin shuts off the TV and carries Yeonjun to their bedroom. The jostling of Soobin picking him up causes Yeonjun to whine cutely but Soobin quickly shushes him. This works, and he falls back asleep in his arms. Soobin reaches their bedroom and places him on the bed. He briefly considers not climbing in bed for Yeonjun, his excuse being that it was way too early for a nap. But, he gives in and cuddles Yeonjun to sleep. Yeonjun sighs contently with the feeling of Soobin near him and the fluffy clouds of dreamland overtake his mind as he drifts off into a peaceful afternoon slumber.
