Follow @urbandesign.lab Break / Connect / Activate Urban regeneration strategy and rehabilitation of public space in Barrios Unidos This project is mainly one of urban regeneration. It proposes to articulate 5 points of great importance for the San Fernando neighborhood, in the town of Barrios Unidos; the San Fernando Park, the San Fernando Rey Parish, San Fernando Community Hall, and the Gimnasio Corazón de María and Distrital República de Panamá schools through a network of public space that reactivates and regenerates its context. It starts from a question about how cities like Bogotá can be intervened; That is, it is almost totally urbanized, but whose public space is deficient and is not designed for people. It's critical to think about interventions that recognize that erasing pieces of the city completely can be harmful to communities. These 5 points are fundamental for very different reasons; They generate activities ranging from educational to recreational, for this reason it is important to recognize the dynamics they generate to propose a public space that is diverse and complements them. Aquabattery Recharged Groningen, Netherlands Aquabattery recharged explores the possibilities for transforming the Hunzevalley landscape, situated just south from the city of Groningen, into an aquabattery; a local, nature-based fresh water reservoir for the region of Groningen. The main idea of the plan is to capture locally available water and storing it in the river valleys and subsoils on the transition between higher and lower laying landscape. With this Aquabattery fresh water, which will be available in the dry summer months, meeting the growing demand for drinking water for the city. Also this would eliminate the dependency from artificial water supply and discharge measures, which will grow ever more problematic with the results of climate change. . The five-storey buildings form the conclusion of the residential rows with reference to the water and enable intergenerational living.
