This website renders every single road within a city.

Roads cut and connect a city. The patterns of their layouts can define the domain of millions of people. When viewed from above they are only lines but we know that each line serves, links and potentially can frustrate its inhabitants.

Game - Mapping The City

We were given the task to design a game, based either in the Hive, City or on a Train. Our group, consisting of myself, Jem, Amy , Kirsty, Salla and Eva, decided to base our 'Game' in the City. It can be played at any time, and you will need a mobile phone, with the 'Whatsapp' application, and the use of the internet to play. It begins with the Controllers (us) asking the Players who they want to have a clue from (they are allowed 2 clues), and once they have those, they have to try and find out where the place is that we are talking about (the building/area in the city). Once they have arrived at the destination they have to take a 'Selfie' including them and the place that they think that we have lead them to. If they are correct, they can then ask for 2 more clues, and this goes on until they find the Controllers at the final destination.

This game uses technology, and this shows how much this helps us complete tasks and find out information in day to day life.

The game can last from 1 hour + (depending on how quick the players are at guessing/researching the areas, plus the time it takes to walk there).

The game gives you an opportunity to view the city in a way you may not have possibly viewed it before, by walking round looking for a building/area when you are given a fact that you may not have known about that place. Also helping you to learn about your environment.

Doorontwikkeling van MappingTheCity.  Het basis idee in Rotterdam was gebasseert op digitaal filteren. Om te voorkomen dat ik weer achter mijn laptop dook wilde ik deze ontwikkeling met de hand maken.

Het idee voor de poster was tabbladen met gater erin die de content achter het andere blad laten zien om zo per catagorie een nieuw beeld te vormen.

Elke cirkeltje staat voor een winkel in de Witte de Withstraat en de kleur staat voor de catagorie winkel. Zo is rood bijvoorbeeld restaurants. Je kunt het tabblad Restaurants er uithalen om zo de vergelijking te zien tussen restaurants en andere winkels. Doordat elke straat een andere hoeveelheid winkels heeft krijgt elke straat zo een eigen abstacte beeld.
