Aquabattery Recharged Groningen, Netherlands Aquabattery recharged explores the possibilities for transforming the Hunzevalley landscape, situated just south from the city of Groningen, into an aquabattery; a local, nature-based fresh water reservoir for the region of Groningen. The main idea of the plan is to capture locally available water and storing it in the river valleys and subsoils on the transition between higher and lower laying landscape. With this Aquabattery fresh water, which will be available in the dry summer months, meeting the growing demand for drinking water for the city. Also this would eliminate the dependency from artificial water supply and discharge measures, which will grow ever more problematic with the results of climate change. .
