What are some screwball comedy pairings you wish had been a thing? Can definitely be gay ones :)
Okay finally!
One of the reasons I made this blog in the first place is that few things bring me as much blinding rage as imagining the movies we could have gotten, if old Hollywood had stopped being racist/homophobic/anti-everyone for ten fucking seconds. There were so many talented hotties working through our tournament era who only got cameo spots or no-budget movies! for no reason beyond white supremacy! there were so many stories that didn't get told because heaven forbid we acknowledge gay people! If this blog has a mission statement, a big chunk of it would be about highlighting all the amazing hotties who never got what they deserved in their heyday.
So! Let's tear Louis B. Mayer a new one and make some better movies.
Diamond Eyes (1946)
Harold Nicholas, the bored but fabulous son of a Manhattan millionaire, decides to take himself off on a transatlantic cruise to recover from the boredoms of socialites, constant martinis, and west side glamor. When working girl Rita Hayworth snags him into a fake dating scheme to throw off a jealous ex (Cesar Romero), he doesn't mean to fall in love with his false fiancé—or to set the ex up with his scheming accountant (Tyrone Power).
To the Tune of Millions (1945)
Ann Miller and Lena Horne are conwomen besties who use a fake dance act to get into casinos, which they then promptly rob. Unfortunately, an over-enthusiastic talent agent (Gene Kelly) sees the act and thinks they're legitimate, hiring them on the spot as the lead number in a newly opened but already failing musicale review. Who can they hustle at a theater that's barely bringing in a dime? The two ex-cons fall in love with show business, Kelly and Horne smooch at the grand finale, and Miller has an intense will-they-or-won't-they sparring relationship with the hot stage manager (Ethel Waters—and they will).
Untitled Three's-a-Crowd Film (1942)
Cary Grant, Jean Arthur, and Ronald Colman are running interference on a corrupt justice system while trying to keep up the act that they are all simply cohabitating in a shared AirBnB and definitely not falling in love with each other. Wait. This is actually The Talk of the Town. This movie actually exists and does veer this hard into polyamorous romance.
Tomatoes and Toast (1928)
Anna May Wong and Greta Garbo eat sandwiches for three hours. It's riveting.
One Soul, Two Bodies (1948)
Farley Granger and Vincent Price star as Alexander the Great and Hephaestion in this sword-and-sandals period piece. Though clearly made on a studio backlot with a budget of $3, the dashing romance grounds the chariot races and cardboard sword battle sequences.
Grand Central Station (1931)
Interconnected narratives of Josephine Baker, Joan Blondell, Dolores del Río, and Fredric March all vying for the last seat on the 5:45 train out to Poughkeepsie. When they realize they're jostling to sit next to the same sugar daddy who's been stringing all of them along, the four decide to unionize. Pre-code thrills; the four-in-a-bunk Pullman car scene remains notable for a reason.
I have more but I think I've gone a bit delirious.

this is one of those, if you want to do this, PLEASE DO and TAG ME I MEAN IT!!!! I want you to. Yes you.

Red Hood and the Outlaws #4 (2011)
Back on Lobdell's bullshit!
There had been vague references to Roy being a "screwup" in the first three issues of the book, but this issue confirms that he is, as he was pre-Flashpoint, an addict in recovery. There are two major differences, though: one, his sobriety seems a lot shakier than it was pre-Flashpoint (at least, before Lian's death), and two, he is now an alcoholic, rather than a narcotics addict. Pre-Flashpoint, Roy was regularly shown drinking casually and sometimes even actively drunk (Ollie's bachelor party), and it was never depicted as a problem for him, though Kyle at one point gently teases him about staying away from booze. (Interestingly, Ollie is occasionally depicted as having an unhealthy relationship with alcohol himself, but no line is ever drawn between his potential addiction and Roy's, in any continuity.)
I'm of two minds about the change. On the one hand, though I have a strong attachment to the original "Snowbirds Don't Fly," it was very much commenting on a specific cultural moment, as well as being very deliberately designed to open up conversation about drugs and drug addiction in comic books (prior to "Snowbirds," the depiction of drug use was banned by the Comics Code Authority). There's no reason to stick specifically to heroin, other than tradition. I hate to praise Tom King, and I have quibbles with him giving Roy an addiction to prescription drugs in Heroes in Crisis (if injuries in the field led to Roy's reliance on and then addiction to prescription painkillers, why is he the only superhero to develop an addiction? it should be like a third of them!), but it's a choice that feels very current, the way that heroin felt very current in 1971. (People obviously still do heroin, but you know what I mean.)
Making Roy an alcoholic instead of a heroin addict provides an interesting opportunity to compare the two addictions. Alcoholism is much more culturally accepted (and, you know, legal), easier to hide, and carries far less stigma, both when using and when in recovery. And yet RHATO depicts a Roy who appears to be in greater disgrace with the superhero community than pre-Flashpoint Roy ever was. It would have been interesting to explore the difference in how the two addictions are received, in getting and staying sober, in the dangers of using any substance to excess, even legal and widely accepted ones. A thoughtful writer could have told a really moving story with this change.
Of course, we're talking about Lobdell here, so the change feels completely arbitrary and downright lazy, especially since Lobdell (and King) has a habit of doing zero research and changing things at random. Both the alcoholism and the prescription drug addiction wind up coming across like all addictions are interchangeable, which is...shitty.
But, you know. It could have been good.
On the other hand, here we have the debut of the single best thing about all of RHATO: the Jaybird nickname. Drink it in, friends.
Meanwhile, Kori gets attacked by this guy, Crux:
She's TAMARANEAN. In fact, the word "Tamaranean" is used later on the same page. What a shitshow.
Crux is a human whose parents were killed when a random Tamaranean spaceship hit their car (why were Tamaraneans just cruising by Earth? no idea), so he devoted his life to destroying aliens in general and Tamaraneans in particular, including using alien DNA so he can turn himself into a giant bat-lizard at will.
Meanwhile, the hot lady sheriff turns out to be an Untitled, and she and Jason frisk each other sexily before she turns into a monster and attacks. It's boring.
The issue ends with Roy going to help Kori, who is losing her fight, and Jason facing off against the Untitled. So to sum of the events of the issue, two fights start and Roy calls Jason "Jaybird" for the first time. It's amazing how little story you can tell in when you average like two panels per page!

supernatural s1e2 wendigo (teleplay: eric kripke, story: ron milbauer, terri hughes burton)
(this is a rewatch, so spoilers abound)
quelled my irrational anxiety long enough to start the rewatch and recap what i have not yet recapped and thank fuck for that because not having my scheduled evening task was not going well. i am staunchly ignoring the not-so-distant future where i will again be out-of-task.
fun fact this is the first screenshot i took while watching this show, long before i considered doing these posts. brotherly chat at the fire, if i recall correctly. we'll soon see! thought it'd be a fun easy draw because it's almost entirely dark with the little kiss of light around his profile.
DEAN You okay? SAM Yeah, I'm fine. DEAN Another nightmare? You wanna drive for a while? SAM Dean, your whole life you never once asked me that. DEAN Just thought you might want to. Never mind. SAM Look, man, you're worried about me. I get it, and thank you, but I'm perfectly okay. DEAN Mm-hm.
now if that isn't love
SAM What, are you cruising for a hookup or something? DEAN What do you mean? SAM The coordinates point to Blackwater Ridge, so what are we waiting for? Let's just go find Dad. I mean, why even talk to this girl? DEAN I don't know, maybe we should know what we're walking into before we actually walk into it? SAM What? DEAN Since when are you all shoot first ask questions later, anyway? SAM Since now.
little cheesy in execution (blaming some of this on the music honestly*) but whatever :p sammy's a new man, hardened by his loss and grief 😤
*guess who did the music this episode 🤪
was curious since this is the same director as the pilot, if he did more episodes this seasons - nope, just 1x01 and 1x02. but this little quote on his wiki page
David Nutter, even with his extensive experience in the industry, was impressed by Padalecki and Ackles' chemistry. Never have I done a show where two actors clicked so well together. These guys had never met each other before and it was like they were instantly brothers.S1Com
we're all sending up our thanks for whatever led to them being cast, for real
HALEY Our parents are gone. It's just my two brothers and me. We all keep pretty close tabs on each other.
coming in hot already with sibling parallels. even when john was alive, he wasn't around and dean's the father mother brother situation. and we've got a vulnerable lookin little brother here we're all gonna be fighting over to take care of
DEAN Well, we'll find your brother. We're heading out to Blackwater Ridge first thing. HALEY Then maybe I'll see you there. Look, I can't sit around here anymore. So I hired a guy. I'm heading out in the morning, and I'm gonna find Tommy myself. DEAN I think I know how you feel.
looking for dad, looking for sam after dad is gone...
s1e2 / s5e14
oh, my dear old friend, untitled 1 and 2!! and what kind of background is this! lol my spn desktop background update tag for all my riveting screenshots of their laptop desktop backgrounds - apparently i called this their snazzy background when it was used in s5, but damn dude look at the coloring differences. how warm/red the s5 is in comparison. skateboard on a chest i guess is what's happening there
aw man, apparently the actress playing the sister, gina holden, was claudia stilinski in an episode of teen wolf but her scene got deleted. and little brother there alden ehrenreich was han solo in solo: a star wars story (which i haven't seen.)
i do know i know someone in this episode though, little surprised i didn't do a hey i know you post for it actually. not sure when the first one i did for spn was. s1e11 scarecrow apparently!
s1e2 callum keith rennie as roy / the killing s1e4 as rick felder / the x-files s1e15 as tommy / existenz (1999) as hugo carlaw
we got an xfiles and the killing alum, and he was in existenz! in fact i did a hey i know you for him when i was rewatching the xfiles a few years ago 😂
someone give this child a hug (and the actor was actually a kid, 16)
DEAN Sam and I are brothers, and we're looking for our father. He might be here, we don't know. I just figured that you and me, we're in the same boat. HALEY Why didn't you just tell me that from the start? DEAN I'm telling you now. 'sides, it's probably the most honest I've ever been with a woman. ...ever. So we okay?
oh yeah, dean? what about spilling your guts about all the family secrets to cassie, huh?? lol. gotta maintain your asshole-man image
wonder if the peanut m&ms was the only actual brand placement they did, their production design people were always whipping up fun fake branded drinks and foodstuff
hey, it's one of the xfiles-y sounds (when she says "our packs!") i didn't notice this until way way later. grabbed a clip of it from 10x12 compared to the same effect used in the xf movie fight the future (because i happened to know where the sound was in that movie, it's def a standard xf score sound.) i think it was just a lot more forward in that s10 clip, maybe that's why it caught my ear and had slid by unnoticed before.
cannot get over him looking like the saddest teenaged baby brother in all the lands
DEAN You wanna tell me what's going on in that freaky head of yours? SAM Dean— DEAN No, you're not fine. You're like a powder keg, man, it's not like you. I'm supposed to be the belligerent one, remember? SAM Dad's not here. I mean, that much we know for sure, right? He would have left us a message, a sign, right?
the brotherly chats *chef's kiss*
SAM Then let's get these people back to town and let's hit the road. Go find Dad. I mean, why are we still even here? DEAN This is why. This book. This is Dad's single most valuable possession—everything he knows about every evil thing is in here. And he's passed it on to us. I think he wants us to pick up where he left off. You know, saving people, hunting things. The family business.
the tagline that never dies
SAM That makes no sense. Why doesn't he just—call us? Why doesn't he—tell us what he wants, tell us where he is? DEAN I dunno. But the way I see it, Dad's giving us a job to do, and I intend to do it.
for real, sam. dad's an ass :p i think someone justified it to me that john couldn't contact them directly because of the demons watching him and he didn't want to lead them to the boys
SAM Dean...no. I gotta find Dad. I gotta find Jessica's killer. It's the only thing I can think about. DEAN Okay, all right, Sam, we'll find them, I promise. Listen to me. You've gotta prepare yourself. I mean, this search could take a while, and all that anger, you can't keep it burning over the long haul. It's gonna kill you. You gotta have patience, man. SAM How do you do it? How does Dad do it?
oh, sam.
DEAN Well for one, them. I mean, I figure our family's so screwed to hell, maybe we can help some others. Makes things a little bit more bearable. I'll tell you what else helps. Killing as many evil sons of bitches as I possibly can.
it's this kind of thing that grabbed me by the throat early on. clear communication, sam has been deflecting but he opened up a crack after dean gently pushed again. and dean is honest and kind, trying to take care of sam. ugh. hurt/comfort my beloved.
buh, this action music when roy gets yoinked by the monster is not great.
SAM So we've got half a chance in the daylight. And I for one want to kill this evil son of a bitch.
snorted. i swear sam got stuck with some cheesy lines back in the day. part of my hot take theory of why jackles's acting stood out more to me initially, i think he just got better dialogue. padalecki hit it out of the park with those moments with jackles, but same episode he had a lot of like... i'm taking charge of the situation moments that felt awkward
sammy brooding with dad's journal, dean staring at sam for a very long time, he's just a baby 🥺
we're all having a moment
this is why i reached the 30 image limit when i rewatched 1x01 :p
LOL. we can't swear really, but we're gonna use the hell out of the words we can say
baby brother clinging on to anyone at this point, sammy holding the line
kinda looks like the game of thrones night king lol
via wiki
Eric Kripke had long been critical of this episode, particularly because he felt the creature wasn't successfully scary. "He looked more like Gollum's tall, gangly cousin than anything else", he says in Supernatural: The Official Companion Season 2. However on February 11, 2018 he tweeted: "I have something shocking, even sacrilegious to say: I watched #Wendigo with my son for the first time in over 10 years. And it wasn't bad at all. 2005 effects were lame, but it was scary. Plus young Han Solo! I'm taking it off my shit list. #spnfamily @cw_spn"
inexplicably some sort of jaguar type roar as the wendigo is burning
HALEY So I don't know how to thank you. DEAN smirks lasciviously. HALEY smiles despite herself. HALEY Must you cheapen the moment? DEAN Yeah.
very cute. deflecting from dealing with the gratitude and lightening the moment
DEAN Sam, you know we're gonna find Dad, right? SAM Yeah, I know. But in the meantime? I'm driving.
this scene obviously has been gif'd to death but i didn't really remember the context and it makes it all the better. sam gets to return the very long staring moment, and lets dean give him a little treat to take care of him and make him feel better that he declined earlier
and jared, you made a choice with that expression. I think that look could be enough to launch a thousand ships alone. the line feels like it should be kind of teasing mischievous little brother vibes, but his face says unbearable affection and something I'd expect more out of a romantic-dynamic teasing feel. wild
my cup runneth over

writing away my ateez PCD💀
I met you on a September night in the middle of a sea of strangers, screaming my liquefied heart out into fleeting utopia written by stories in the form of faraway muses for a girl’s blooming fantasia.
I. Fire eyes and zealous blood crashed through the glass like a wave in a storm starved of savagery, sweeping me off my feet in the inception of a new age, the age of the opal at the centre of the world. In the spotlight, the opal glimmers white and unleashes its magic within, seven more colours shining as a brazen aurora - the eye of the storm. An eye I’ve stared into long enough to be buoyantly lost at sea watching longingly like a mermaid for the ships that will pass, soaking in the colours and sounds of their boisterous parties. Sometimes one too many ships come through, and I hope the stars tell their captain that the waters are calm enough to drop the anchor and sleep at night. He looks to the stars every sunset, yet he must always go on. He’s deafening hues and glittering dreams. He’s exquisite in his ferocious grind with beauty flowing from him in tunes and melodies that ripple through the vast ocean and glisten under the twilight. The stars never disappear after sunrise.
II. Too much stardust in the making of one person births new stars in the form of eyes which brim with uncontainable light spilling down smiling cheeks, strawberry-stained with soft, tender love. He’s the king of the stars, the light in the ship’s long nights spent sailing through quiet waters and turbulence. Every other star would fall from the sky to grant his wishes and renew to see him again, wrapped in pastel pink primroses that bloom in his glow. He holds the stars in his hands and tells them they are pretty, but doesn’t know we are more beautiful for the beauty that ebbs through his palms and his voice.
III. When he lets words and songs fall he’s the warmth in running a hand through the fur of a golden retriever after an afternoon in the sun. Evanesced honey encapsulates his golden being, a sweet promise of falling six feet and an inch deep into eternal sunshine. He reaches to the stars and takes them with him as the ship cruises into the ever changing horizon that echoes dreams of ballads he hasn’t even sung, but already fill the air. Say his name, and he is luminous.
IV. Existence meets artistry when body and soul is beautiful enough to rile the sea and capture the stars upon a graceful gaze, a smile ever so slight. The art he is blares across the seven seas in his quiet and he is divine, dazzling light and branded by Aphrodite’s kiss as her incarnation that walks the earth and sails the waves. A blue bird’s velvet feathers are smooth as an enchanted baritone for spellbound galaxies raining meteors for statuesque perfection come alive. The flower dances in the breeze, delicately lethal as poisoned perfume. I’m in love.
V. The most majestic mountain commands all eyes on its unrelenting spirit: dreamer, diamond, fever dream itself, a harbour for the ship. The mountain lives in a boy sculpted by celestial hands, gorgeous in a dancing illusion of menace before a winged heart cherry-coloured with romantic fervour. His voice bounces across the water and into the reflection of the stars, like a cue to let go of the breaths they had held, and breathe. He smiles like summer sun, dimples deep as the sea below that might overflow with the stars’ zeal. He’s all bewitching and more, more, more.
VI. He’s a flame, sunset-chrome fireworks ripping through the skies and stars turn to moths when his words cascade in rolling thunders. He’s in the lingering ring in my ears, the roar of thousands of voices, the arrow to hearts that skip a beat every time he proclaims his dynasty. Wake up world, his eyes say, and don’t stop staring. Yet he is cotton clouds and a sprinkle of rain to a hot day in August. A laughing conundrum, an untitled song.
VII. Can stars wish upon themselves? For ivory silk, black velvet, brimming heart and cherry lips. Foxy eyes that twinkle like a million fairy lights when he laughs out the answer to cloudy grey days. Torrents of love borne by one shining soul flood whole stadiums when he dances like lithe butterfly wings or morphs into a vivacious panther stealing stars with a biting gaze. He’s so achingly beautiful (he’s wonderland). All the stars would empty their light on the surface of the ocean just so he could see his reflection painted in loving reverence.
VIII. The apple of the eye of the storm boils the ocean with spellbinding song, raising magical mist all the way to shroud the stars in lavender, violet, indigo fantasies. He sings an eternity of new galaxies to life, one mortal holding up the cosmos with the finger every star is wrapped around, and new stars are born each day. The universe is still when his music fades, each star unblinking in awaiting for the next ship his smile may grace. Waiting, waiting, shining, still here. His timeless smile tells the world he is radiant even in the silence between songs - a lover loved to the edge of each universe.
You are here in the years I walk alone, sealing the cracks in the rocky road:
The curtain call of my teenage dream, the shore of my wild unknown.
You’re a September song I’ll dance into the dusk, ever and after the silence falls.

2. Do you plan each chapter ahead or write as you go?
OKAY so like. with chapter fics i usually start out with a garbage outline and then upgrade to a numbered outline, usually when it gets out of hand? the garbage outline is the like, general life and main beats of the fic, and then the numbered outline just sort of puts events and like, bits, or even some important dialogue vibes, in a way i can reference, but i cannot stress enough how like. dog shit rube goldberg my writing process is, i thought the cruise fic was going to be like 20 k. im serious. the marbles are traveling and where are they going on their little journeys? who knows but there sure are bells and whistles and funny little trick jokes
which is to say: yes. there is a "plan" and also the fic truly does just happen to me. i am less of a farmer and more of a truffle piggie. im gonna go find the stupidest possible thing for taako to say brb
3. Describe the creative process of writing a chapter/fic
i feel like the above says a lot already but legitimately like. if im vibing with an idea, i go off my few little bullet points and let the spirit take me? i write in order, i have a hard time doing things out of order, and it really does just happen as if you turn a page in a book and now instead of blank there is story there. or like. i imagine the story and then i make it happen, and usually especially let the dialogue take it where it wants to go! plinko baby
for a whole fic, i start with the spaghetti process, usually a prompt or au or setting, and then go "you know what would be so fucking funny" and escalate from there, usually with a friend i can bounce off of like thie or noodyl. and i make the garbage outline with a shitload of bullet points in a document with a stupid title. and then i just fling myself into the abyss and hope the words will catch me! trust fall <3 and when it gets too big to wrap around the initial outline, i make a Slightly more detailed one, and bounce some more ideas with friends. it helps to have someone who is as insane about your writing as you are <3 <3 <3 <3
18. Do you title your fics before, during, or after the writing process? How do you come up with titles?
truly last fucking minute usually, altho like, revenge plus one was the working title i defaulted to after absolutely the most painful titling process ive ever been a part of. i've just been calling it cruise fic so long, it's kind of like the goose game in my head. Untitled Cruise Fic. i thought that would be confusing tho. maybe i should have had more guts. i love a good reference or a pun or even like, part of a line from the best bit, like sticker stars
29. What’s your revision or editing process like?
ailem is right, that's between me n god

For the Let’s Get Real Fic Writer Asks:
✨, 💞, 🕯️(the first one - about a fic bringing something out of you you didn’t expect) and 💌 (if that isn’t asking for too many)
ooooh, thank you, girl!!!
✨What’s a fic you’ve posted you wish you could breathe life into again and have people talking about it? (or simply a fic you wish got more credit)
Hmm...I had some pretty grandiose ideas to continue my Untitled Monster Loving Fic (including an actual title!). Like, I'm pretty sure there's a full outline/backstory. But I could never decide how to work the next update, so it's just kind of chilling still. (hopefully, it's marinating!)
💞what’s the most important part of a story for you? the plot, the characters, the worldbuilding, the technical stuff (grammar etc), the figurative language
Usually plot, unless it's something that doesn't really have one; then, it's the language. But honestly, all of those things go together? If it's thin on worldbuilding or character development, then the plot is kind of hard to engage with. It's a balance of everything. (And I'm an editor by trade so paying attention to grammar is second nature, haha.)
🕯️was there a fic that was really hard on you to write, or took you to a place you didn’t think it would take you?
Honestly, my first MC (and probably still the one I'm best known for), A Tall Tail. Mainly because it was the first time I'd ever attempted something like that--especially since I'd only been writing fic for a few months at that point--so it was kind of a crash course in long-form story planning. I also didn't give myself a ton of time between writing and posting updates, so I'm sure that's apparent; I could have ended that story sooner, but the longer I wrote, the more ideas I got so it just kind of kept going. (That was also the first time I vowed that, moving forward, I was gonna finish an MC before posting it. So much for that, haha.)
💌share something with us about an up-and-coming work (WIP) that has you excited!
Ohhh I am super excited to share my upcoming @cssns story with y'all! This is one that has been marinating for a LONG time (literally started this doc in September 2015) but I finally got cruising on it last summer and I'm probably 2/3 done with it now? Anyways: Killian has an evil twin who's come to town, the infamous Dorian Gray, and it'll focus on how they're different—or maybe not so different. Lots of magic and shenanigans :D And it's been fun to play with a somewhat-OC (even if he's basically Dark Killian with the asshole factor turned up to max, lol).

This is the first bit of a untitled GinHijiMitsu story. It was supposed to be just straight lemon, no chaser, but then I had to go and think about how these three get to the fun part. I figured, if I write a little every night, eventually I'll get to the actual meat of it and have enough to put up on AO3 without feeling guilty...
Part 1.1 (200 words)
She carefully opened her parasol and stepped out of the red-bricked station, her eyes wide as she took in the sight of Edo sprawling out into the distance. Countless people walked around her, their steps hurried and purposeful. Countless buildings, wood and concrete and chrome, took up space in all directions.
From the main entrance of the station, down a parkway lined with ginkgo trees, she could see the fortifications surrounding the Shogun’s castle and the Terminal looming in the in the distance, its metal surface gleaming in the pale spring sunlight. Spaceships cruised across the sky like birds.
She had never seen so many ships fly through the skies back home.
She adjusted the shawl over her shoulders, mindful of the cool breeze, and made her way to what looked to be the taxi stand.
“Where to, miss?” the driver said as she slid into the back seat.
“Kabukichou, please.”
“That’s a pretty rough town, miss.” The driver glanced back at her.
She smiled in response. “So I have been told.”
I’m sorry, Sougo, she said in her heart as the driver merged into traffic. I promise I’ll see you later.
There was a man she wished to meet.

Mission: Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part Two 2024, Release date, Trailer, cast
An update on "Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part Two" indicates that nearly half of the film was completed prior to the industry-wide halt in production. Tom Cruise is set to reprise his iconic role as Ethan Hunt, performing an array of high-stakes stunts in this sequel to "Dead Reckoning Part One." Production for the eighth installment in the "Mission: Impossible" saga commenced in March 2022 but faced a significant pause in July 2023 due to a SAG-AFTRA strike. Despite the interruption, the film has managed to secure a considerable amount of footage, equating to about 40% of the total required. This progress bodes well for its anticipated summer 2024 release. The filming delay, triggered by the actors' strike, has cast some uncertainty over the initially planned release date of June 28, 2024. Nevertheless, recent reports from The Wrap suggest that the production timeline for "Dead Reckoning Part Two" remains largely unaffected, keeping it on course for its summer debut in 2024. The upcoming untitled eighth film in the "Mission: Impossible" series continues the storied franchise with a potent mix of familiar creative forces and returning stars. Here are the key details: Director: Christopher McQuarrie takes the helm once again, continuing his directorial streak in the franchise. Writers: The screenplay is a collaboration between Christopher McQuarrie and Erik Jendresen, building on the legacy of the "Mission: Impossible" series created by Bruce Geller. Producers: The film is produced by its star, Tom Cruise, alongside Christopher McQuarrie, ensuring continuity in the series' creative vision and execution. Starring: - Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt - Ving Rhames as Luther Stickell - Simon Pegg as Benji Dunn - Vanessa Kirby as Alanna Mitsopolis - Hayley Atwell as Grace - Esai Morales in an as-yet-unrevealed role - Henry Czerny as Eugene Kittridge - Pom Klementieff and Shea Whigham in new roles Cinematography: The visual narrative is crafted by Fraser Taggart, whose lens will capture the film's high-octane action and exotic locales. Editing: The film's pace and tension will be finetuned by editor Eddie Hamilton, a regular collaborator in the series. Music: Lorne Balfe is set to score the film, aiming to provide another memorable soundtrack to the iconic action sequences. Production Companies: Skydance Media and TC Productions are backing the film, continuing their support for the franchise. Distribution: Paramount Pictures will distribute the film, maintaining their long-standing relationship with the series. Release Date: The film is scheduled to be released on May 23, 2025, in the United States, adding another chapter to the enduring series. Country: United States Language: English As always, the film promises to deliver the high-stakes thrills that audiences have come to expect from Ethan Hunt and his team, alongside innovative action sequences and a narrative that holds global implications.
Everything We Know About Mission: Impossible 8 Filming
Director Christopher McQuarrie had originally planned to film the seventh and eighth installments of the "Mission: Impossible" series consecutively, although this strategy was later revised. Reports have circulated that these two films could serve as the final chapters for Tom Cruise's character in the franchise, though this has not been officially affirmed by Cruise or Paramount Pictures. "Dead Reckoning Part Two" kicked off its principal photography in March 2022, with its international shoots starting in the UK, then moving on to iconic scenes filmed aboard the USS George H.W. Bush in Italy. Photographs from the set have captured Cruise engaged in a variety of daring aerial stunts, including a precarious maneuver on an airplane's wing. The cast of "Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part Two" is expected to welcome back familiar faces such as Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Hayley Atwell, Vanessa Kirby, Esai Morales, and Pom Klementieff, while introducing new actors to the franchise like Nick Offerman, Hannah Waddingham, and Holt McCallany. The production's schedule faced a temporary halt before the SAG-AFTRA strike, accommodating Cruise’s promotional tour for "Dead Reckoning Part One." Despite these interruptions, the current trajectory suggests that "Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part Two" is on track to meet its planned release date. The notion of "Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 2" sticking to its planned release schedule may be more idealistic than practical. The complexities involved in resuming production after a strike are not as straightforward as merely picking up where things left off. This particular installment, with its roster of high-profile talent, international filming locations, and intricate stunt sequences, faces additional challenges in regrouping. These complexities are compounded by the need to coordinate the busy schedules of its all-star cast. Even if, by some means, "Mission: Impossible 8" manages to wrap up filming and post-production swiftly enough to consider a June 28 release feasible, the studio might have other strategies in mind. It’s a given that the movie calendar for 2024 will undergo changes. Delays haven't been announced largely because studios are navigating the uncertainties of the strike's duration and subsequent repercussions. When studios are finally in a position to reschedule, the reshuffled calendar will take into account not just the production setbacks but also strategic release timings to maximize box office potential. The release date for a movie is a critical factor in its success, as evidenced by the timing of "Dead Reckoning Part 1" amidst other major releases. Thus, even if "Mission Impossible 8" is ready to go, its launch date will be carefully weighed against the schedules of other Paramount titles and competing studio offerings. As it stands, the anticipated release date for "Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning Part 2" is June 28, 2024, though this is subject to change depending on a variety of industry factors.
Mission Impossible 8's Unlikely Release date
Deadline has highlighted the uncertainties regarding the scheduled release of "Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 2" for June 28, 2024. The potential delay stems from the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike and further skepticism indicated by a source suggesting that the release calendar for the coming year may not hold. Complicating the timing for "Mission Impossible 8" is the incomplete status of filming. Director Christopher McQuarrie disclosed that production was halted when only 40% of the film had been completed, just as the strike was commencing. In an interview, McQuarrie spoke of the rigorous timeline and the tasks that lay ahead, including shooting a significant action sequence that features the team, which he describes as a "sidebar" to the main action. He expressed that this sequence will incorporate elements he has never worked with before, presenting a formidable challenge within an already compressed schedule. McQuarrie aims to conclude all principal photography by early the following year.

Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 2 cast
The cast of "Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 2" boasts a mix of familiar faces and intriguing new additions. Audiences can look forward to seeing the following actors reprising their roles: - Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt, the indefatigable IMF agent at the heart of the franchise's action. - Hayley Atwell as Grace, whose full allegiances and backstory remain a compelling aspect of the narrative. - Ving Rhames as Luther Stickell, Ethan's longtime friend and tech genius, continuing his streak as the only actor aside from Cruise to appear in all the films. - Simon Pegg as Benji Dunn, the tech operator turned field agent whose wit provides levity to the high-stakes missions. - Vanessa Kirby as Alanna Mitsopolis, also known as the White Widow, a broker of sorts whose alliances are as complex as her character. - Henry Czerny as Eugene Kittridge, returning to the series after a long hiatus, harkening back to his role in the original 1996 film. - Esai Morales as the enigmatic Gabriel, who is shaping up to be a formidable adversary. - Shea Whigham as Jasper, whose role is shrouded in as much mystery as his character's intentions. - Greg Tarzan Davis as Degas, contributing to the ensemble of IMF team members. - Pom Klementieff as Paris, who is expected to bring a new dynamic to the team's interactions. Unfortunately, Rebecca Ferguson's Ilsa Faust and Cary Elwes' Denlinger, both of whom met their demise in Part 1, are not expected to return. Ilsa, first introduced in "Rogue Nation" and romantically linked to Ethan, met a tragic end at the hands of Gabriel, while Denlinger's tenure as head of national security was abruptly cut short in a lethal encounter. Newcomers to the franchise include Holt McCallany, Hannah Waddingham, Lucy Tulugarjuk, Rolf Saxon, Janet McTeer, and Nick Offerman in undisclosed roles, sparking curiosity and anticipation. As more details emerge about the continuation of this high-octane saga, we'll ensure you're kept up to date with the latest cast revelations.

Untitled (Lost Kid at Home Despot)
CWs: missing child (child is fine)
Spooky Rating: 0/10
Scary Rating: 0/10
Summary: Dude's kid wandered off when they were at Home Depot and it scared him.
Currently the top comment story, this should be disqualified on the grounds of (a) neither spooky nor scary, (b) this happens to nearly every parent at some point why is this even here, much less the top comment. I was the low energy, good kid and I lost my parents at least twice and they found me both times have conned nearby responsible adults into giving me milk and cookies

This will probably not read as too scary, but it scared the absolute shit out of me at the time. My youngest kid as a toddler/youngster could not be contained. He was absolutely fearless and had no sense of self preservation. He was prone to just bolting off without warning when something caught his eye, and he was fast. If you ever see parents with their kids on a toddler leash, those are likely kids like mine. We never put him on a leash, but we probably should have. At the time this happened, he was around four. One thing he loved doing was coming to Home Depot with me to look at all the stuff they had on display, and to get a hot dog at the food truck that was always parked outside. It was a typical busy Saturday afternoon – people everywhere, cars coming and going constantly. I normally held onto his hand for obvious reasons, but at one point I had to let go while I’m looking at something on the shelf. Then I look down. He’s gone. Not five seconds had gone past. I look up and down the aisle – there’s no sign of him either. I go to the nearest cross aisle and look there. Nothing. I start to get worried, but surely he’s close by right? I walk around looking in the aisles on either side. Zip. He’s done this before, though, and I can usually find him quickly. But today he’s completely vanished. Maybe two or three minutes have elapsed by this point. Someone notices my agitation and asks what’s wrong. I tell them about my kid. “You need to ask for a Code Adam,” he says. Now I’m starting to panic. The possibility that he might have been abducted hasn’t really entered my mind until this moment, but it rushes in with a vengeance. This a big, busy store with a lot going on and a lot of dads with their kids. Someone carrying a crying child out of the door would draw little or no attention. I find a staffer and ask for a Code Adam. They immediately close down the store. I run around looking for my kid, but he’s still no where to be found. I try to calculate exactly how long it was between the last moment I saw him and when they called the Code Adam. I know it’s enough time for him to get taken. If he was, he would be long gone, but I don’t know what else to do except keep running around the store looking for him. By this point, it’s been at least five minutes since he disappeared. I start thinking of that scene in Minority Report when Tom Cruise’s kid is abducted. I’ve confirmed every stereotype of the careless father. My life is over. My kid will be dead and my wife will divorce me. Then a guy comes up and asks, “Hey, is your son wearing a green corduroy jacket? I think he’s in the kitchens.” He was wearing exactly that. I run clear across the store to the kitchen displays and find him around the back playing with the faucets. He was at the opposite end of the building from where I’d lost him and must have just decided to run over there. I scoop him up and tell the staff to clear the Code Adam. That afternoon took ten years off my life.
