hi it's wip wednesday!! here's the demo of the fic thing i'm working on :D

I'm delighted to finally post what I've been working on lately! I've gone on youtube and downloaded a bunch of mp3s of various unstreamable songs then cut them down from the videos into individual songs with proper metadata + album art so you can just download them all in one place and throw them into wherever you play your music. Right now I have various EPs, demos, and singles, but I will be adding unreleased live songs and debut/early/alternative/etc versions of songs later on!

(Also as a fair warning, the early ones sound really rough, but it is what it is)

it’s happening! this is the long-awaited info post for a currently untitled zine celebrating the 21st anniversary of the album War All The Time by the band Thursday

- general work about Thursday may be considered if it’s particularly rad but the zine’s main focus/inspiration is War All The Time

- submissions can be original works in almost any form of writing or visual art besides videos, gifs, or fanfics. think poems, essays, lyric essays, collages, paintings, etc. if you’re submitting concert photos, ones from the War All The Time era or one of the 3 shows in 2023 where Thursday played through the whole album are preferred.

- submit as many pieces as you want! written work can be as long as you want!

- to submit your work: make a post and tag me in it or use the hashtag #war20zine. let me know in your post or in a dm how you’d want to be credited.

- work does NOT have to be new. if you’ve made work related to the album in the past that you want me to consider, just repost or reblog it with the #war20zine tag!

- this project will have some level of curation. not every piece submitted will make it into the zine

- the official deadline is december 31st (new year’s eve felt appropriate). UPDATE: a few people requested more time. the latest you can submit is january 21st

- the zine will be free online and released sometime in january or february

Under the cut is a snippet from the still-untitled Darlin’ fic I’ve been working on, inspired by two songs from the Strange Trails album by Lord Huron (that I adore a lot)

It feels like their skin is stretched tight against their neck, and when they reach up to scratch at it, flakes of rusty red cling under their nails. And then it all falls into place.

Blood. Old and dried now of course, but the scent is still there. They curl their lip when it reaches their senses. Harsh and metallic, it makes their mouth water, and they spit into the dirt.

They’d been in a fight. No wonder they can’t find any of their clothes. If there were any sort of a reflective surface nearby, they don’t doubt they’d find their neck covered in crescent-shaped bite marks. Deep ones, like gouges, the way big cats tear hunks of flesh from their prey. It makes sense, in a sort of twisted way. He’s always considered himself to be a top predator.

Never mind the fact that his kind are compared to parasites more often than not, feeding on the life forces of others. Leeches. Mosquitoes spread disease, you know, and when they think about the effects he’s had on their life over these last few years, pestilence has a nice ring to it.

He always likes to kick them down and call them things like runt, or puppy, or cur. Aggressive and dreadful. Despicable. Undesired. Like he hadn’t taken those traits he sees in himself and woven them into every part of their being; misery loves company, after all. Maybe he couldn’t ever stand the fact that their kind has always stood at the top of the food chain, when you think about it.

He had to take one down for himself. And they can’t deny the fact that they were easy pickings at the time. Predators, even poor imitations of one, always seek to take down the weakest members of the herd.

Or the pack, in this case.

They spit again, just for the sake of it, and add, “Well, fuck,” to really drive the point home.

Wherever You Point To I'll Find - my current series; a modern au in which Chrissy, Steve, Eddie, and Nancy are all on a road trip together. Steve and Chrissy are slowly falling for each other and Eddie and Nancy are an established couple. If you need more info on this one, just check out the wyptif tag on my blog

Feels Like This - basically a fic version of this moodboard that I made for cheerscoopscentral; Chrissy is the singer/songwriter to watch and Steve is the front man for a band called The Babysitters. Corroded Coffin is also famous, and Chrissy is friends with benefits with Eddie. Chrissy is hired to help Steve write his band's next album, and if she does a good job, she gets to be the opening act on their tour. Sparks fly between Steve and Chrissy. There's also a bunch of stuff with Steve's on again off again girlfriend travel writer Nancy as well as Chrissy's ex-boyfriend aspiring musician Jason.

Not Part of the Plan - the accidental pregnancy au! Nancy ends a girl's night of celebration for graduating college and landing her dream job by sleeping with the hot bartender. When she finds out she's pregnant a month later, she tracks down Eddie Munson to let him know that he's going to be a dad. From there, it's a friendship and co-parenting and trying not to fall in love.

untitled fake dating au - Nancy Wheeler is back in Hawkins after leaving her New York job with an online media company (think buzzfeed). Her new job with the Hawkins Post has her working as an entertainment writer, and her first big assignment is covering a Battle of the Bands competition in Indianapolis because a local band is competing. When a creep won't stop hitting on her at the competition, she does the only thing she can think of. She sees Eddie Munson and convinces him to pretend he's her boyfriend to get this guy off his back. They keep fake dating for the rest of the competition with plans to have a "mutual breakup" once they're back in Hawkins. That's thrown out the window when Eddie decides to fake propose to Nancy at a party, and Steve Harrington posts the proposal on instagram. Now, Nancy's family thinks she's really engaged, and she has to bring her fiance on their beach vacation. And it just goes from there.

Cupid's Trap: An Enemies to Lovers Tale of Shakespearean Proportions - Mrs. O'Donnell is in charge of the school's drama club, and she's found the perfect leading lady for her production of Much Ado About Nothing in Chrissy Cunningham. Her choices for a male lead are dismal though. Then, she sees Eddie putting on a performance in Hellfire Club, and she hatches a plan. If Eddie will take on the lead role in her production, she'll give him enough extra credit that he'll finally pass her class and be able to graduate and get the hell out of Hawkins. The only problem? Chrissy and Eddie can't stand each other and can barely be in the same room together. Slowly, they put their opinions of each other aside and start to form a real friendship that's maybe something a little bit more than that. Jason is also there being the absolute worst.
