PERSONALITY

Sicky is bipolar and severely moody. As a result of Slender Fever that turned her into a proxy, her mood and personality change so much that it is very difficult to predict her thoughts. Sometimes she is cheerful, but then she is sad and angry immediately. This makes it difficult for anyone to talk to her because of her mood swings. But in reality, she is a talkative and lonely person. She always finds something fun to do when she is free. In fact, she likes to keep herself busy all the time or sometimes she bothers other people.

In her original personality before becoming a proxy, she was a polite and cheerful person. She was someone who always cared about others before herself, which often caused her trouble.

BIOGRAPHY

PAST

Livia Lily Laurel, she is an ordinary girl, half German-Thai. She has an older brother named Eric and a twin sister Fiona. In fact, she was born in Thailand, but when she was 10 years old, her parents moved her and her siblings to USA instead. And she has been living there ever since. But since moving here, their father has been very stressed from work and started drinking and started using violence in the family. Most of the time, the one who was physically abused was their mother. What they were abused with was foul language, insults, or words that caused emotional wounds. Until finally, they divorced because a neighbor reported domestic violence to the police. The police arrested him. But her life after that was not smooth because the impact made Fiona mentally ill from too much stress. Their mother worked hard to make a living and was sick regularly. They were still young, so they could not help their mother much. But on the other hand, their brother was even worse. Because he was the oldest brother, he wanted to help ease the burden as much as possible, both taking care of his two younger sisters and working while studying, including all the expenses in the house. But it seemed like their father would not give up easily. After he was released from prison, he still followed them to cause trouble many times.When Livia and Fiona went to college, they both started to find part-time jobs. Livia worked as a general cashier, while Fiona was a general online fiction writer. Because of her mental illness, her life was difficult. Their brother also took on general jobs while studying to be a doctor. One day, their mother fell ill and died from the disease, leaving the burden completely on Eric. But without their mother, their ex-father became more and more intrusive. Eric could not stand this man anymore. He killed his ex-father by himself without his two sisters knowing about it, and fled the city. But he still left a lot of cash for his two sisters. He had to suffer the consequences of what he did alone. But he was still worried about his two sisters. Even though he didn't contact them back, he still sent money whenever he had the chance. As for Livia and Fiona, even though they weren't having a hard time with money anymore, they missed their older brother. But they had to move on with their lives until their lives changed dramatically again.

BECOMING THE SICKY

Livia twin sister she was hunted by the Slenderman. It was because Fiona got lost in the Slender Forest on a rainy night when she was going home. It was their bad luck that they had to suffer this terrible fate. No matter where they ran, they were found. To make matters worse, she had to survive from the proxies who were sent to hunt them down. After a long chase, Fiona was successfully captured. Livia was badly injured, but she refused to let them take the last of her family. She forced her body to follow the Slender Forest and played their game. She won the game, but because her badly injured body was too much for her to bear, she begged them to let Fiona go and take her life instead. Slender saw that determination and agreed to let Fiona go. But instead of killing Livia but he's don't. he took her as another one of his proxies. Because he liked the recklessness and fearlessness of this young woman, and he believed that she would be a loyal servant.

been thinking abt writing a small intro to lit theory post. because like. thinking back, I had a really good English teacher but high school English very much teaches you to read towards the “one true meaning” of a text.

You’re taught to make arguments sure, but at least insofar as I was taught, esp in grade 11/12, there’s a focus on “this is the argument that’s going to get you a good grade on your essay and these are the kinds of points you need to make reference to”.

Which isn’t necessarily a Wrong basis to begin with. I think it’s valuable to learn with a concrete kind of basis first so you get a handle on the skills of lit analysis (what are literary techniques and what do they do etc etc), and then explore and open your mind to the plurality of texts.

But like. I suppose my point is that hs English just only (in my experience at least) teaches the concrete basis, with no allusion to the different ways to read a text beyond that. And your average guy isn’t going off to study English literature in university so of course you end up with a lot of people who were taught to approach a text this one specific way, and bring that approach into hobby areas like fandom.

And Eng Lit isn’t like. a walk in the park yknow I get it! U can’t just pick up Lacan and intrinsically know what the fuck he’s even arguing without knowing abt Freud.

And even just on a purely emotional level, I remember being 17 and doing an eng ext course and feeling extremely disoriented by the concept of texts not having a singular true meaning! So I get it yknow! I get why you see certain approaches in fandom specifically being the approach hs eng taught and being very disorientated by approaches that challenge that.

How do you know there’s a glass wall until you stretch ur hand out etc etc

Hi mods! I was wondering if I could have some help with this round of omni exams in ENG.

this is the closest i've gotten to a SSS score and i'd really like to make it this round. all eight buddy bonuses are maxed and everyone except vil have spells at 10/10. generally i've been getting scores between 15k to 17k even when im implementing every duo magic. to me it seems like i'm having a problem of K.O.ing the opponent too soon, usually getting them to zero hp by round three.

i was wondering if the lower scores were a result of bad battle execution, bad card choices, or bad rng. if it's a case of bad cards i've compiled all my cards below! (sorry they're sorted by level. i didn't notice the note about rarity sorting until after i edited all of this)

all the ssrs at lvl 80+ are at 10/10 spells except for birthday ortho (7/5), dorm kalim (5/10), dorm azul (9/9) dw deuce (5/9) & dorm deuce (5/5).

srs that are 10/10 include: grim, groom lilia, camp sebek, robes malleus, beans vil, fg kalim, lab kalim, robes deuce, groom riddle, yasmina cater & dw idia.

all other srs that are level 80 are all at least at 5/5.

for alchemy mats im putting all my resources into 10/10 dorm azul so i am waiting to level any water spells until then but otherwise i'm cool with pouring any resources into other cards you think would be useful!

Hello! Omg, so close!!

Your team right now is honestly perfect, and I wouldn’t change it, especially when it managed to get you to 19k. Your only obstacle now is fighting rng to get that sweet SSS.

Just a few pointers to make it up there:

Your strongest duo is Leona, so you want him to be your finishing hit. Since his duo is Flora, you want it to hit Sebek (the opponent with Water element).

An important thing is that by the time you use Leona’s duo, ideally the opponent’s HP is below 2k. They have 83000 HP in total with no heal, so you really have to make sure to close the gap.

If you end on turn 4, dealing 111k damage is generally a safe range for SSS especially if you use 4 duos. If you end on turn 3, you need less damage for SSS, probably around 110k to be safe. Leona’s duo can deal around 29k damage if landing on advantage, so if the opponent’s HP is less than 2k before the duo, you have high chances of getting SSS.

Since you find yourself killing so soon, best to try ending on turn 3. It’s a tight battle with rng, though, but it is worth a shot, and again, you will need less damage for SSS.

So some of you who've followed me for some time might remember that, around five years ago, I played an Arcana hack called Seal of Rimsala. Ultimately back then I decided that it had good ideas but was held back by how hard the reduced rate of enemies made it to grind. Well, I've been occasionally checking back on the updates and learned recently that 3.0 got released earlier in the year. And am happy to say it has greatly improved from what I played in 2019!

(note I'm using terminology from vanilla when applicable, not because name changes aren't good or correct, but in case someone who knows Arcana but hasn't played the hack is reading so they know what I'm talking about)

The grinding issue is somewhat mitigated by the maps that come with this release showing places with higher than normal monster concentration. Now, I'm not sure if these existed in vanilla or not since I'm not a hacker (though since Stavery 12F is one of them and I always thought I got into more random fights than normal...). But it definitely helped me to get into my groove in several places. Also, I've readjusted strategies and found perfect grind spots thanks to said maps including ones with the enemy domains so I can grab places with high EXP enemies.

There's now people credited with translation work, properly fixing early 90s censorship and things that were just plain wrong in the original. Which is what I'd been looking for in a text cleanup patch when I first checked the hack out of curiosity. I was also happy to find out that 99% of the things they said were how I interpreted the Japanese dialog when I looked into it...remember, I'm not a skilled translator, just an idiot with a kanji dictionary app. The biggest exception was a line I'd thrown my hands up figuring out anyway after trying to look up what the sentence meant when my app failed (so did Google Translate but that's not a surprise).

The new updates to the equipment makes it so much easier to make choices on what to equip and when. Like, I kept the Crystal Sword on over the Spirit Sword for much of Chapter 5 because it was doing more damage to the non-elemental Minotaurs and Jotuns while Teefa and the Spirits handled the elemental stuff. This also applied to figuring out what Attribute spell to cast between better labeling of Elements and the power level. Also...A+ names for the new spell names that better describe what human attack spells do. It also helped me to realize that I'd written Salah's Attributes 6 and 3 backwards in my lists...but a quick peak into Vanilla ENG and JP shows it was reversed and I was too dunderheaded to look at the MP costs.

Was a bit of a challenge starting Chapter 5 since all Teefa's equipment and Darwin's sword were moved till after the Karul fight. Money got tight and I didn't get Rooks a Kaiser Shield until after escaping the tunnel with Darwin's free gear (the darn thing is only 20,000 off max money and I needed to add a sword, a staff, and a robe to the shopping list). Though that let us punch dragons down for a bit till we were down to shields.

Gonna go back sometime with the Level Select which I tried out while doing my checks on Salah's spells in all three versions of the game I've access to. Probably run Chapter 1, then after starting the scenes in Chapter 2 reset and do the Level Select instead so I can amass as much cash as possible for Run 1, then try it again with Chapter 5 due to the listed changes in the readme file (which I won't spoil if anyone wants to play for themselves).

All in all, thanks to Autumn Shinespark and the team for improving this game so much!

Changes in beta are here, so I'll update my TC.

His Q expires when he leaves the field. Apparently this has always been the case but was not reflected in ENG translation. This means all buffs must be used before he enters the field. The rotation that I suggest remains the same, however.

His A1 passive changed from a single heal to small multiple heals (3 times). This makes Hunter procs very easily so there's no other reason to use any other set unless you have a really good stat on Crimson Witch. With Hunter, his E plunge gets 5 (base) + 36 (Hunter) and + 20 (C6), resulting in 61% passively. This is already a high CRIT Rate and you only need about 10% more to reach respectable level, which, if you run Xianyun (and you should), you'll get 4% - 10% based on the number of enemies her E plunge hits (Max 4 enemies). You can even boost it further with Rosaria if you're planning to run a Melt team.

Therefore, the weapon and Circlet should focus on ATK% and CRIT DMG instead of CRIT Rate. You can also run EM on Sands if you're planning to use a Vape/Melt team with Furina or other Cryo chars, just keep in mind that you risk not procing VV on Pyro if you use Furina or chracters with too high Hydro/Cryo application, and you only got a few tries with Xianyun before she switches out to Gaming, which cannot leave the field until his Q is over.

If running non-Vape/Melt - Redhorn (if bossing) or Blackcliff (if mobbing)

If running Vape/Melt - Since there's no 5* Claymore with EM as main stat I still believe Redhorn will still do more damage, but 4* EM weapons like Rainslasher, Mailed Flower, and Makhaira Aquamarine might also be useable (Rainslasher is for Furina/Xingqiu/Yelan team only though). Other F2P suggestions remain the same.

Genshin Gaming TC

This is based on the earliest leak from 4.4 beta so anything can change in the future.

He's a 4* Pyro Claymore DPS based on Plunging Attack. His multiplier is lower than normal Claymore user, but that's ok, because his main DMG comes from Plunging Attack enabled by his skills.

His E will pounce forward and will end if no enemy is hit. If it hits an enemy, he will jump into the air and will enable a special Plunging Attack. This special Plunging Attack has higher multiplier than normal Plunging Attack and is an AoE Pyro attack. After he does this special PA, he loses HP.

His Q deals an AoE Pyro attack, heals himself, and summon his buddy lion. After his buddy attacks the enemy and return to him, his E is reset. For a duration, he enters a special state. In this state, if his HP is higher than a certain percentage, when he uses E (in either pounce or plunge form), he will be able to summon his buddy lion again. (Unconfirmed: Then after he returns to him, his E will reset again. This state does not end even if he leaves the field. (The text doesn't say anything about having to stay on field like Razor or Cyno's Q. So by default, this state can be maintained even off-field.))

A1 recovers his HP 1s after E plunge hits.

A4 increases Healing Bonus or Pyro DMG Bonus depending on his current HP.

Passive is the same as Dehya (increase movement SPD during the day).

C1 will make him restore his HP when his buddy lion returns.

C2 Increase his ATK for a short duration if healing overflows.

C3 Increase his E level.

C4 Recover energy if E plunge hits.

C5 Increase Q level.

C6 Increase CR/CD/AoE range of E plunge.

The first team comp that comes to mind is Gaming, Xianyun, Zhongli, and Bennett.

Xianyun can enable and buff Plunging Attack, heals and applies VV.

Zhongli for shield and RES shred

Bennett for ATK buff, heals, particle gen, and, if C6, Pyro infusion.

Other substitutes for Zhongli and Bennett are Furina and Kazuha.

Rotation should be Zhongli hE > Bennett E > Xianyun 3EPQ > Bennett EQ > Gaming EQN2/3 then repeat EN2/3 until Q duration ends

Weapon

Sac Greatsword - Good for double E plunge and ER but lesser DMG.

Fav - Don't

Prototype Archaic - Don't. Doesn't buff Plunging Attack.

Blackcliff Slasher - Great for mobs. OK for bossing.

Serpent Spine - Good if you have a shielder.

Tidal Shadow - Easiest to use since he has self heal. But not the strongest for sure.

Mega Sword - OK if you need ER but he has middle cost burst so I don't think he needs it that much, esp if you're running with Bennett.

Portable Power Saw - No

Skyward Pride - No

WGS - Good

Song of Broken Pines - His E plunge is Pyro so no.

The Unforged - Good if with Zhongli

Redhorn - Stat stick. Can't benefit from passive at all.

Beacon - While he can upkeep his E easily, the taking DMG part is a bit tricky as HP drain is not taking damage. You cannot run a shielder if using this weapon, so replace Zhongli with Furina or Kazuha. If you can activate both effects, this weapon is good.

Verdict - Stat stick because E plunge is considered Plunging Attack DMG not Elemental Skill DMG.

Weapon TLDR:

Easiest, F2P friendliest, non-reliant on Paimon's shop and non event-exclusive - Tidal Shadow

Paimon shop - Blackcliff Slasher (and F A S H I O N)

BP - Serpent Spine

4* Gacha - Lithic Blade (assuming running Gaming/Xianyun/Zhongli; can even be better than 5* weapons)

5* Gacha - The Unforged if running with shielder, else, Redhorn, WGS or Beacon

Artifact set

Hunter since he can manipulate his HP and can max capped during his setup (1st E reduces HP, A1 increases HP 1s after E, then Q recovers even more HP).

Crimson Witch is also good because he can quickly use E.

Lavawalker is doubtful because he cant apply Pyro that often.

Shimenawa is not good because he needs to Q after E.

Vermilion is ok because he can reduce his HP but there is quite a cooldown between each decrease so he might not benefit from it the most.

If cant find 4-set then Pyro/ATK%+ATK% 2-set is also ok. Main stats are ATK%, Pyro% and CR/CD with ER/CR/CD substats.

Return of the Mammalians Log.exe, retranslated

There’s a handful of differences between the ENG and JP version of the secret final Alterna Log, Log.exe. Much of it is fine, but there’s a few things in the localization that I think are...not great. I’ll talk about it at the end I reused some of the wording in the localization that I thought was close enough to the JP, and some of it I rewrote. ok translation under the cut

Return of the Mammalians There were those of humankind who gave up on the desolate Earth. They placed many surviving animals in a cold sleep, put them on a spaceship- the Ark Polaris- and set it off into space. The mission: to search for a new planet to replace the Earth.

The Polaris had a smooth voyage...until it reached the edge of the solar system. It was at that point that debris struck the vessel, damaging its navigation system. The crew was able to turn the ship around and and head back toward Earth, but the effort was in vain-there was not enough fuel to attempt a landing. The Ark Polaris drifted in Earth’s orbit for over 10,000 years.

Eons passed. The once-stable orbit of the Polaris decayed over time until the ship found itself in the inescapable pull of the Earth's gravity. All the humans and animals aboard perished, save one. Bear #03, an experimental subject who had retained consciousness within his cold hibernation, miraculously survived. For 12,000 years he had been thinking, dreaming of the planet he would emigrate to. From this, he gained a very high level of intelligence.

Upon waking, Bear #03 discovers that he had not landed on a new planet at all. He was back on Earth. An Earth dominated by marine life, with not a single mammal in sight.

In the course of his search for a single fellow mammal, Bear #03 used navigational equipment from the wreckage of the Ark Polaris to discover Alterna, located deep within the Crater. Its inhabitants had gone extinct, but upon examining the facilities, he discovered that the thoughts of humanity were burned into the liquid crystals covering the inner walls of Alterna. Thus, Bear #03 repaired Alterna's facilities and began researching the crystals...

This research bore fruit when Bear #03 compounded some of the liquid crystals with his own fur. The experiment created an entirely new substance capable of transforming any living creature into a mammal. As the only surviving mammal, He decided it was his job to restore mammals to the Earth. He aimed to mammalianize all life by using Alterna’s rocket to spread Fuzzy Ooze from the sky.

Bear #03 set out to gather Golden Eggs, indispensable in both the creation of the Fuzzy Ooze and for launching the rocket. For this, he took on the name of Mr. Grizz and founded Grizzco Industries.

Thanks to the assistance of unsuspecting Inklings and Octolings, Bear #03 secured a massive quantity of Golden Eggs. He was ready to take the final steps to set his plan in motion...

My comments:

-The “plotting and dreaming” line bugged the hell out of me, because “plotting” has some connotation of an “evil long term plan”, and Grizz had no motivation to carry out his mammal restoration plan until AFTER he woke up. The JP version is more clear about what he was dreaming about, and it doesn’t sound as evil. -the paragraphs about Grizz discovering Alterna and Fuzzy Ooze are interesting in how they’re a bit different from the ENG version. Not a fan of the “mammalian paradise!” line I thought it sounded kind of like a idiotic cartoon supervillain there. I mean he kind of is and his plan fucking sucks, but the original line makes his motivations sound a bit more reasonable-taken-to-an-insane-extreme rather than just cartoonishly insane. JP Grizz sounds more level-headed and deep in thought. -I invite you to compare the second to last paragraph, as the changes in this part are what inspired me to retranslate this. The localization left out the crucial information that the eggs are rocket fuel, and instead added in some fluff about ORCA being not-so-omniscient that wasn’t present in the original.

My boi is absolutely smitten the moment he sees you.

It was a normal day in training and he had a few scrapes here and there

His mother did not let him eat dinner before checking up with Dr. Yueh. Unfortunately for him, Dr. Yueh was attending his Father, leaving you, his apprentice in charge.

Paul was visibly shocked at how graceful you looked and handled his wounds. You blushed under his gaze and dressed his wounds before letting him go.

After that encounter, Paul made it his mission to get hurt every training session, even if it was the slightest of bruises.

And everytime he came into the infirmary, you'd end up falling in love with the raven haired duke just a bit more.

You found his visits endearing but also stupid. He was literally hurting himself to see you.

So the next time he came in for something silly, you didnt talk to him like you normally did. You simply prescribed some medicines on a piece of paper and walked away.

He was a bit hurt to see you ignore him. He was worried he overstepped boundaries the last time he came in.

When he opned the piece of paper, however, his face broke into a grin.

Meet me in the gardens. Doctors orders.

Now this guy is ripped af and rarely needs to go to the infirmary.

When he does, it's usually for something very serious

So you can imagine the shock on people's faces when they see him come regularly to the infirmary, without a scratch on his body.

This guy literally came to the healers for a paper cut

Why?

Because he wanted an excuse to talk to you, look at your wonderful face and make you blush with his goody comments

You were mesmerised by his gaze. Every single time. Your heart melted at his display of affections

You were in the middle of filing the medicine cabinet when Duncan rushed in, with a hand to his heart

Fear crippled you before you got on your senses and rushed to him

"What happened? Whats wrong? Are you alright?"

"Oh God. My heart. I think - It stopped beating."

"Wh-?"

"Until I saw you"

You could have punched him in the face fore scaring you like that but you involuntarily cracked a smile. Unable to control it, you giggled softly at his dorky grin before pulling him closer to you

"Well in that case, i must prescribe a day of resting, before a get well soon kiss."

Duncan grinned at your reply, "Yes, Doctor"

Now, catching the attention of a Duke was something that you never imagined

Like seriously, how does one get up one morning and go "oh yes, today I shall make the freaking duke be heads over heels for me"

Whether you did or not, the Duke was smitten by you.

Ever since you assisted Dr. Yueh in treating the wounds of the Duke after a particularly rough battle, he was entranced by the way you held yourself

As a person of high power, he couldnt afford to hurt himself like Paul just so he could get a excuse to talk to the healer that caught his eye.

So he made you his personal healer.

You were the first to reach him in any distress

And he loved seeing the care for him in your eyes.

Eventually he had the courage to ask you out on a date. But you'd be hesitant. Sure the back and fort flirting was exhilerating , but actually dating the duke?

"What will Lady Jessica say? What will Paul say?" You were close to the son of the Duke and didn't want things to get weird between you two

"Would you believe me if i said that this was their idea?"

You were shocked to say the least. But having being confirmed that the others were okay with you acting on your feelings, you became brave enough to initiate a kiss

The Duke smiled into the kiss and caressed your hair lovingly

"Lie down and rest. Let me take care of you. As a thank you for the times you've saved my life."

☆ Lady Jessica ☆

Lady Jessica had some basic knowledge of medicine

She knew how to dress a wound, tie a bandage, etc.

What she didnt know was how to deal with dreams and nightmares

After Paul discussed having visions with her, she started having nightmares with Paul dying in battle. She always woke up with a start and never drifted back to sleep, causing bags to form beneath her eyes.

As a woman of steel, she regarded this with a pinch of salt and refused to take help

You however, were starting to get frustrated. As the appointed healer for the Lady, your superioirs were berating you for not "doing you job"

You were in half the mind to punch them but stopped yourself for the Lady's sake. If word got out about the nightmares, it would send Caldum into a state of panic, since Jessica was considered to be a powerful Bene Gesserit, who couldnt be easily shaken

You were becoming increasingly worried for her though. You could hear her screams some nights but couldnt get into her room to comfort her.

Your heart ached for the woman. But you could t get into her chambers with explicit permission fom the high ranking officials

So you talked to the Duke and he granted you permissiom to enter her chambers in the event of another nightmare

( he ships you both so hard omg )

That night, you hear shuffles and whimpers coming from Jessicas room and you slowly enter it.

You see her panting and clutching at the sheets. You slowly wake her up, not wanting to scare her further. You hug her, while running your arm up and down her back

She sees you and pulls you closer into her arms.

"Stay with me please"

"Ofcourse, M'lady"

I think its safe to say that Paul and Leto saw a rather well rested Jessica the next day

Even if Duncan never visited the infirmary for small cuts and bruises, he atleast went to the infirmary for a big wound

Gurney? He'd rather die than go to the infirmary

He hates the place. It makes him feel weak.

That is until he found a reason to willingly go the that god forsaken place. You

You always managed to break his stoic facade. You were one of the few people who were allowed to see his soft side, his smile, his adorable nature.

Sure, it made him vulnerable, buy he wouldnt want it anyother way

To say that the others are surprised is an understatement

But seeing their uptight swordmaster finally falling in love with someone was heart warming

That didn't mean they didnt tease him. Oh no. Now that you guys were official, the hurricane of teasing flooded in.

Whenever he was being bombarded with jokes, you'd go upto him and pull him away, muttering lovingly into his ears.

"Sorry people, I've got to go. Doctor's orders."

Nagiko no Hanashi (and me getting hyped for its announced drama adaption)

It's been about a decade since I last tried watching a good bunch of live action drama series. And I hadn't planned to come back to it, since I thought I can't stand the notorious overacting. (No amount of good actor skill helps when they are made to act what you dislike.) So I didn't particularly care about some drama adaptions announced for some manga titles of my liking. Until Kieta Hatsukoi came about, and I thought that given how the manga is already like, the notorious overacting might actually act in its favor. (And because I was curious how the drama translations fare after being bugged over the official manga translation.) Turns out, the drama has the expected well acted overacting that works perfectly well with a plot that has had some great tweaks to the source material to make it work in this format. (Anime take a slice of this skill please.) Turns out people kept mentioning it alongside Utsukushii Kare. Turns out that one's drama adaption is also having some really good acting performances. Turns also out, gasp, it's got actually non-overacting performances with good direction and visuals.

Hyping Nagiko no Hanashi's announced Japanese drama adaptation.

... which weirdly (or maybe not so very weirdly given the lack of translated exposure and lack of further info) is someone not a single soul seems to be talking about. Well, here is me trying to change that now.

Nagiko no Hanashi is a 1 volume BL Manga by Gotou. In July 2021 a drama adaption was announced for it via an obi-ad on Gotous next work Amagasa wo Tojiru Natsu and a Twitter announcement. Zero further info as of yet, on format, cast or whatever. Given that Gotou only has two serialized paperbacks in Japan, talk even on the Japanese (googleable) internet seems sparse.

But if it's going to have at least Kieta Hatsukoi and Utsukushii Kare levels of being a good adaption, then oh my, this is probably going to be good. Good. And if they incorporate some Gotou's extra content that exists outside the official volume, then it might even be great.

But before I jinx it, I'll just WoT about how I really like the manga a lot. Because more people should read it. Really.

Title: Nagiko no Hanashi (凪子の話), translates to: Nagiko's Story Mangaka: Gotou Publisher: Taiyo Tosho Published in magazine: ihr HertZ Volumes: 1 A summary first, since no other place will offer you one:

Kazuya and Kouhei are childhood and best friends for 23 years and both have a secret buried within them for about as long with no intention to ever voice it. As the second death anniversary of Nagiko approaches, the childhood friend of both since age 15 in high school and Kazuya's late wife, memories resurface again and the dead Nagiko herself has a story of her own to tell. A tale about her own first love towards the upright and gentle Kazuya and befriending his best friend, the somewhat showy and easygoing Kouhei. As well as finding out about the feelings about the two...

Also a bit on the origins of this one:

"Nagiko no Hanashi" is a 2 chapter short, that first showed up on Gotou's pixiv account in 2014. And it's still there. A while after official serialization began 2015-16, which was compiled to a single volume. The official version takes the pixiv version, updates the art massively (but otherwise the content is the same) and adds another double chapter Osanajimi (eng: Childhood friends) to it, as well as a prologue. The first double chapter already works perfectly as a stand alone, Osanajimi takes off right where it stopped in the first chapters. And then there are the pixiv shorts, little manga sketches and short manga episodes that Gotou releases about once a year in a little batch. Those have extra content sprinkled across the timeline of those 23 years of the official manga timeline and beyond by offering a number of little sequels that go as far as some 10 years after. And they are all so good. SO good. And just prove it has so much going for them beyond that tearjerker frame plot of the official manga.

... OK, i'm realizing I can't really go over this without making an account for the whole plot. Sorry, spoilers, but since it's literally unreadable unless you know Japanese at this point, bear with me.

Prologue: Kouhei visits Kazuya. He just got dumped by his 18th girlfriend. They banter around his gloomy theater over a future where he won't find a girlfriend at all, but Kazuya just tells him that it will be ok, somewhen the right one will show up. Says his intuition as his close/intimate friend (親友). Kouhei can't help but glance at the ring on his hand, and they proceed to talk about plans of Kazuya visiting Nagiko's parents over the second anniversary of her death. Nagiko's last thoughts/words to Kazuya surface and the 8 page chapter closes with both Kouhei and Kazuya thinking about their 23 year old secret. Which, at this stage, is something there is no way they'll ever tell.

Nagiko's Story part 1 (ch1): The first chapter gets back to high school. Nagiko tumbled over and bruised her legs. Kazuya helps her out by taking her piggy back to school, which gets her immensely flustered. She gets further acquainted to Kazuya and through him also to Kouhei, his childhood friend, whom she first instinctively is bad with since he's the showy extrovert type, but soon warms up to him as well. They befriend each other and get very close. Kazuya and Nagiko are both introverts, sharing the same sweet tooth for sweets and they have fun times (the art is just adorable). In her crush for Kazuya she does sometimes see glances of him spacing off that she can't interpret. School ends, uni starts, and they are still very close and Nagiko still hasn't managed to confess. And she misses her chance, because Kazuya gets a girldfriend. That evening she and Kouhei are on a rooftop. She is full of regret, why she didn't say anything. Kouhei instead has words of explanations for her, of being scared to have what you have to end by saying something. Their lives continue, they become a bit more distant, but still close and upon upcoming graduation they celebrate together and stay overnight. Nagiko randomly wakes up and witnesses how Kazuya is sleeping on the couch, Kouhei is awake and wanting to touch his face, but firmly holds back in pain. It dawns on Nagiko why Kouhei was able to say, he understood why she didn't, couldn't confess.

Nagiko's Story part 2 (ch2): Some more time passes. They are all working now. Their lives are busy, and they don't intersect as much, but they are still close. Kazuya broke up with his girlfriend after uni graduation, which had him down, but looking at Kouhei trying to cheer him up, Nagiko can't help but muse about that she would have been happy over the news, if she didn't know anything. A while after she begins to have chest pains, and once while visiting Kazuya she collapses. In the hospital, she gets the news, upon noticeable symptoms emerging, it's already spread too far, and a time limit has been set on her life. Under tears and mute apologies to Kouhei she speaks out a one in a lifetime request. Kazuya and Nagiko get married. Kazuya even bows for her parents to have them allow this sad marriage. Kouhei has only words of support for them, while she can't look him into the eye even once. Upon moving together with Kazuya Nagiko sorts some boxes and finds an old photo album. Her eyes widen over a picture and a memory surfaces. Back in school, Kazuya once forgot his student ID book at Nagiko's place, and she's returning it. She couldn't help but look inside. Kazuya bows to her deeply and asks her not to tell anyone. It's a wristband and upon asked if it's something important of someone he loved he just smiles lonely and says it's nothing that even entertains a hope. It's something that even as a child he knew would never be rewarded, and he has long since given up. Now Nagiko is sitting before that photo album and seeing a child Kouhei wearing that same wristband. Kazuya is out doing groceries. Nagiko can't help but cry alone. Three days later their marriages is put into the family register. Thoughts about what she should have done, break it all up and support the two vs. her own 10 years long love wanting to have Kazuya for herself. It's her sin and she apologizes. At the end of her days she leaves a letter behind, which Kazuya is to receive on the second anniversary of her death. It's late to say this now and unfair. Knowing Kazuya he would never had abandoned her. And he probably still wouldn't even with her gone. But after two years passing, could he look forward now? In all this time Kouhei surely was there to support him. If he was still holding her in his memory, if he held some pity for her, then please, may he lighten her sin. "Please find happiness". Kazuya is reading this letter, he just received from Nagiko's mother, in tears. The mother thanks him for having married Nagiko, because he might not know it, but she had loved him since way back. The chapter ends on Kazuya returning and exchanging messages with Kouhei. Kazuya thinks about what he has to do. It could be that she got it wrong. It could be his feelings have changed. It could still not work out if they felt the same, it could mean they couldn't be together anymore at all. "I'm scared." But over his trembling fist, Nagiko's smiling face is in his mind. He goes back. Kouhei is waiting for him and greeting him. Kazuya replies, he's back. And with determination thinks. "But still. Move forward."

Osanajimi part 1 (ch3): "Eh?" out of Kouhei's mouth. On the second anniversary of the wife of his closest friend, he got a confession from him. Kouhei wakes up in his appartment with a headache. Staring at the ceiling of his apartment filled with beer cans he muses that it wasn't a dream. "Nagiko knew about my feelings." a flashback on Kazuya's words. And going even further back when he was 6 years old, his first time meeting Kazuya, his new neighbor. Their mothers befriended each other quick, as did they. Kazuya easily got sick, while he got in all sorts of trouble. He doesn't know why, but he just wanted to spend time with him. If he had put the name "reason" onto something, it was at age 11, when his mother was hospitalized and his grandmother was to care for him. But she ghosted him. And in a most sly manner. She would act all normal with somebody else around. Just with him alone, she acted like he didn't exist. Eventually he gave up, but still feels bad. His grades even drop. His mother gives her a wristband as a charm to hold strong. But he hides his pain before his mother or anyone. Kazuya however picks up on this and happens to watch how Kazuya went to his grandmother to request her to stop this. "He's a good guy. If you do something cruel to him, I won't forgive you." He's fighting tears as he says this. Before he knew it Kouhei has tears flowing out himself. After that the grandmother started behaving in a way aknowledging his existance. Kouhei works on his grades getting better, so he can go to the same schools with Kazuya. He desperately keeps up to to everything that he can stay by his side. They are not blood related, being connected by marriage is impossible, so being "friends" is the only thing he has left and he will do anything to avoid loosing him from his life. At age 15 Nagiko enters their life. He quickly picks up on her crush for Kazuya, the way she gazes after him, but just like him she never moves a step further. Kouhei gets girlfriends, but they dump him. And he keeps doing it hoping to find a girl he can love more than him. Nagiko cheers him up on one of these occasions. Kouhei muses that if Kazuya was to find somebody, it would be nice if it was somebody like her. His thoughts move on to uni, and her regretful self after Kazuya starting to date "Please don't cry." Memories move on to them annoucing their marriage to him, he thinks to himself, that her wish was granted. "よかった" (Thank God/I'm glad.) Juxtaposed to a face with one of the fakest smiles ever. Back in reality, Kouhei wakes up beaten up from his overdrinking and getting a cold. He still goes to work, but does a terrible job. His boss spanks him verbally and sends him home. He goes to hospital for medicine and memories of visiting Nagiko being in hospital and never leaving again surface. He didn't know about her terminal illness. But she's getting more haggard everytime. He's loosing courage to even ask, when she will be discharged. She's happy for his little presents when he comes. Kazuya isn't there because he's buying a book that seems interesting that she picked up from TV. They smalltalk. "But really, as usual he's head over heals for you, isn't he~" - "That's not it. Kazu-chan is just incredibly kind." - "As I'm saying that is..." - "I couldn't become like that. Kouhei-kun. I'm sorry." Nagiko dies. On her deathbed Kazuya is crying his eyes out. First time he ever hears such tearful cries from him. Nagiko's "I'm sorry" rings in his ears. "Why did she apologize? Because she knew his feelings? Because she noticed mine?" Kazuya's words haunt him, too. "I've always... loved you." If he answered his feelings, what would happen to that gaze of hers? Where would it be saved?

Osanajimi Part 2 (ch4): Kazuya is standing before Nagiko's photo. On the second anniversary of his wife he confessed to his friend of 23 years acquantaince. But it doesn't look like heÄll be able to fullfil her wish. Memories surface from his side. How he met Kouhei, how he was sickly, how Kouhei would always pick up on his wants he couldn't voice, how they would get onto an accident, where he fell off a cliff 4m down, how Kouhei would profusely apologize and in tears that it was his fault and he be allowed to still play with him. How he saw how he suffered and found out how his grandmother caused it, how it pains him as if it was his own suffering. How Kouhei gives him his wristband, he got from his mother. Looking at the ring at his finger he remembers meeting Nagiko at age 15, how she was kind, her innocent laugh, how the air became peaceful with her around, and all the precious times together with her. How he witnesses Kouhei flirting with a girl. "I know. In order to protect things that don't change there are things that need to change." A girl confesses to him, he goes along and starts dating her. It goes well with her. He even thinks that eventually he might even marry her. But she broke up on the last day of graduation. Under tears she tells him "I wanted you to love me." Just how much did he hurt her? "I won't ever go out with anyone again." Is what he thought. But there is Nagiko, coming out from the hospital room after she collapsed. "Kazu-chan... The say I don't even have 2 years to live. Please, just until then is all I ask, please be always by my side... I'm sorry." He doesn't ask why or why him. He didn't ask anything. 'I will make her happy.' was his all from this moment on. They marry. They have fun times. Until her deathbed. "I'm glad. Happy. It's like a dream. Thank you. Thank you. I'm sorry." Kazuya wakes up from his dreams late night. Kouhei is ringing on his door. He get straight to the point. He wants to undo it. Make it to have never happened. "Let's go back to being close friends like before. I'm sorry, I...." Kazuya's hand is in a trembling fist. "Of course..." He was resolved for that result to happen. He also thought it would be better to just stay friends. He knew how much this would torment him. But, this is where it ends. He can't go back and he also can't hurt him more. He departs, annoucing to delete his mail adress and phone number. "Sorry." As he goes Kouhei can only stare. He sees his wrist and a childhood memory comes back, when he gave him the wristband. "Kouhei, but then you'll loose your good luck charm. It's alright, I'll be fine even without something like this. - .... then, I'll be its replacement. - Huh? - I'll be you good luck charm replacement." A beaming boy proudly holding up the band on his wrist. Before he knows it, Kouhei grabs his wrist. And has him locked in embrace. "No. I beg you. No. Why. Because if we stayed just friends" in tears he remembers Nagiko. "I love you. I'm sorry." Kazuya hugs him back, also crying. And just answers. "yeah". Fast forward to morning. Both are in terrible shape after crying their eyes out. Kazuya shows him Nagiko's letter. He wants him to read it. "Kouhei, you know. I really liked Nagiko. I know it wasn't what Nagiko wanted. But still. Even if one year, two years pass or even more than ten, I will always yearn for her smile. I want to meet her." Another flashback memory of their school days at her birthday. She gets a bunny teddy and some flowers. Kouhei admits he was thinking of giving her roses, but after all he thinks he wants to reserve that to the girl he likes most of the world. Nagiko says the girl who gets them surely will be very happy. Both of them are standing at her grave. Two huge red roses bouquets put in place. The two worry about what her parents would think if they see that. Kazuya will tell his mother in law. They banter and joke. Talking daily life things. Kouhei steal a kiss from Kazuya. "If you are going blushy, then don't do it. - Shut up, you're beet read yourself. - We're almost 30, what are we doing...". They're

laughing. It closes with Nagiko's first impression over Kouhei. How she's not good with his type of person. But when Kazuya is with him, he would laugh like he really has fun. "I love this laugh the most."

4 page digital exclusive extra: The two are sitting there and Kouhei has Kazuya locked in a hug. The later rectantly saying that he'd like to eat soon though. They joke about whether Kouhei was this clingy of a person. Kouhei say, actually he isn't. "You're words and actions are terribly misaligned." He asks to let it slip, since he had to hold back all this time. Kazuya muses didn't they hug back too? Kouhei says it's different. Touching while supressing everything he felt desperately, is completely different. "But if only I get to monopolize you like that, would Nagiko-chan get mad at me? - I don't know." They kiss. "What would it be." Then some screw falls on Kouhei's head and they joke maybe Nagiko is mad after all.

(Maybe I should just translate the whole thing directly already?)

So what's so great about this? In case my recount is bad.

The characters. How everything is just filled with so much kindness and affection towards one another. It's like that kindness and selflessness you can get from the cast of Kieta Hatsukoi, but next level with much higher stakes and painful decisions and a much more thorny path. Every single one of them misses to communicate the most important thing in words, they self-sabotage, they fail to meet despite being so, so close to each other. They fail to give another closure, while still all alive, but even with Nagiko's one time selfishness everything is fueled by kindness and guilt. And oozes so painfully out of the pages. And it's more painful, because there should not be any reason for all this pain. But somehow it is.

The closets. How terrible living with closets is. Desperately hiding, desperately trying to distract oneself from onself. The constant fear of losing what there is, if the closet ever is open. And this is entirely not even focusing on what damage out of hostility there is. It's just about fear of loss. And it's not just there for them, it's there for all, but others get to openly cry about it. And maybe get over with it. Maybe even with kind words.

It's a different take on internalized homophobia. It's not a suffering sob story about being scared the hell out of what the world would do to you, as you are constantly being served over and over nowadays. It's just this casual, but almost categorical imprint of "it's impossible" and "it's not to be" with no questioning. None of the two even entertain the idea it could ever be. Nothing every dispels the idea and least do they do that to themselves. It's ignorance on their own part and they don't even notice. It's taboo that just stands there as a wall, invisibly, untouchable.

This reminds me a lot of how I would never get sparkles on male fellows and people would ask the typical cliché question you sooner or later get asked if you're being late with your sexuality or simply aro-ace to begin with: "Are you from the other shore then?". I still remember how I categorically answered "No?" right off the bat. But later had to notice, that never actually ever considered the idea of the gay option whatsoever at all until then. Did I even had the right to answer so quick and categorically? (I then took a look around with that in consideration and observed it made no difference, but that's a different tale.)

Times are changing, yes, but it hasn't been this different all too long ago and still isn't in a whole lot of places. That question I got is only a few years old. And this tale just nicely concentrated on this one piece of it. Because this, unlike all the hostility, is the part of it, that has no shape. You usually don't notice it. And that makes it the hardest to dispel of them all. But it's actually the most important, because it's the core of it all. If it weren't for this, the hostility and ignorance would have no reason to exist and couldn't also be so easily abused by powers that be for agendas of actually other underlying purposes.

Personally this volume has also been pretty big to me. That desperate statement of "I wanted to you to love me" that Kazuya gets from his girlfriend, that one thing that is missing, despite everything else stated as being in place and working well: This is a fear my little aro-ace mind didn't even know it held and probably one heavy unsconscious demotivator to even ever start entertaining trying to find a relationship. There is a sense of pointlessness to even try, when you neither want to fake love, nor want one of these ones tied over only materialism or family politics. That's probably just as imprinted of a sense of "impossibility" just like how Kazuya and Kouhei simply never took each other into consideration in the first place.

And then there was this whole relationship between Kazuya and Nagiko, the way Kazuya sees her:

Not as family nor a lover. But even so, for the first time I learned that someone could become so much of a beloved existence to me.

Now, these lines exactly aren't so special on first glance. You will get this often, this thing that friends could be as important and yada, yada. But that's not it in this one if you read the entire volume and see how he acts towards her. This tale is giving something a shape, that has no real proper name in any language yet that I know. (And I know 5.) Even this story ultimately resorts to worlds like 愛おしい (itooshii, dear) or 恋しい (koishii, dearly missed) when he's using expressions stronger than 好き (suki, to like). 愛 is language wise typically reserved to the love of family bonds and lovers' and 恋 is exclusively reserved for the latter. And it's also differentiated further from 親友 (shinyuu). 親友 is mostly translated as "close friend" or "bosom friend". It's build up of 親 (intimate) and 友 (friend). It's an extra close, intimate friend level, that Western languages typically don't have a word for. (The best I can think of is when a close friend conflates with a trusted confidante.) It's the next closest thing that Kazuya and Kouhei desperately work on to keep on having officially for another while in their closets. It's the word Kouhei desperately continues to use in his mode of confusion and denial after Kazuya's confession. And Nagiko explicitly is never called that. It's clearly stated that what Kazuya feels for Nagiko isn't that love. (That's reserved for Kouhei.) But still, there are so many components to it that would look like that love to the laymen's eyes. He's devoted. He has an absolute wish to see her happy. He'd cry and wail this heavy over her death. He continues to cry for her even afterwards. His wedding ring is something he says he will never take off again. Nagiko's mother only sees that deep love of a husband for her daughter. Even Kouhei uses 惚れる (horeru, to be head over heels in someone), that is expressly reserved for romantic and sexual love. One of the manga shorts from the pixiv extra materials feature Nagiko's friends from work returning from her funeral and seeing a very depressed Kazuya and being relieved that "Thank god, she was deeply loved by Kazuya." In another of the shorts Kouhei supports a Kazuya who can't stop his random crying attacks right after her death, noting that she left a hole behind that no one but herself will be able to bury.

There was a little firefly popping up and swirling in my little aro-ace brain after reading and parsing this story ever since. Because this work gives shape to a fuzzy something in between that is extremely hard to quantify. It falls short on a name in this work, but it paints such a tangible picture of it instead. I still haven't seen any depiction quite like it anywhere. (The only other thing close to it that I found after that to date is Tsubaki's relationship and his late wife Katsura in Fudanshi Kazoku contrasted with what is more than obviously a gay crush on clearly romantic interest Hiiragi. The fact that those two single examples however have the girls both dead seems slightly troubling, though... But I digress.)

(Yes, I know that somewhere in the queer community, some appear to have started on this "queerplatonic" coining recently. But try mentioning this and get only question marks back, or watch them google it and come back with headaches of confusion. And personally, I'm eyerolling over the naming sense on some things in there. I mean, like zucchini. Of all the things. Zucchini?)

What's making this bit that is already great even better: Kazuya completely treats the importance of Nagiko and Kouhei to him on equal levels. And Kouhei does the same.

There is this really endearing little short story in the extras that encapsulates it so well: A while after the events of the official volume, Kazuya and Kouhei move in together. Clearly they are prepared to stay in their closet, given that they arrange for each of them having their own rooms and beds, just in case their mothers (who are of the type to come visiting with no prior notice) happen to drop by. There is a lot of cute banter and memories. Then Kouhei gives Kazuya a present to celebrate the event of moving in. It's a wristwatch.

Kouhei: Ah, by the way, put this onto your right hand. Kazuya: Eh? Even though I'm right-handed? sfx: Isn't that hard to put on? Kouhei: Because your left hand belongs to Nagiko-chan. That's why, give your right hand to me.

THIS IS SO GOOD. (All the while pulling off a kinda cute de-facto proposal on the side.) Needless to say, Kazuya winds up wearing it on the right hand. (And his work colleagues muse, he found a new love that will get him over his depression about his late wife, which had just been back around when the anniversary of her death was getting close.)

And it's just so sad that Nagiko dies thinking that all Kazuya felt for her was just "kindness".

There is also simply the entire set up of how it ends. How it just trolls the "the queers must suffer" trope to hell. In that trope, it's like a curse that implies to outright dictates, that they are not to find happiness. Those two however, after the events of the official volume and every after, are also in a way under a "curse": They must absolutely not become unhappy, but find happiness together. And they are working real hard on that, because they owe that to Nagiko.

There is another hilarious, cute and heart-wrenching short that encapsulates this so well: In the middle of the night, Kouhei crawls onto Kazuya's bedside, after coming back from a real long drinking night with a customer. He's late, drunk and dejected. Because it's their first anniversary of living together, and he wanted to celebrate that. Kazuya goes, is something wrong with his head? This is Kouhei, who even got dumped by a former girlfriend for forgetting her birthday. Kouhei says he wanted to do that what Kazuya mentioned, about with living with Nagiko: To pile up a lot of memories. Kazuya tries to placate him. But, well, this time didn't work out. They could still do that next year. "But what if we can't?" It could end any time, and they should know that plenty well.

That's why, I want to treasure my time with you. I want to pile up lots of memories, to come back to and laugh about. Nagiko's share, too.

and then Kouhei gets sick with nausea, and it's all hilarious and the next morning Kazuya suggests that they go to an onsen by the place where the drunkhead had to leave his car, which he has yet to get. Because then next year they can laugh about how the anniversary day itself was terrible, but the next day they had a great day at the onsen with yummy ramen and having this and that fun. And they go. And next year, Kouhei is super embarrassed about it as Kazuya teases him about it.

IT'S SO GOOD.

The main focus of the official volume is clearly on the drama, but you'll still be served a full course dish spanning more than two decades from earlier childhood to work-life adulthood. It manages to be funny, cute, fluffy, adorkable, sad to downright heartwrenching, but ultimately also very optimistic and uplifting, all in the spade of just two double chapters and a prologue. And the pixiv extras just showcase it doesn't need any huge dramatic event as the driving plot force to keep a narrative together. These characters have so much going for them.

There are also some bookstore-exclusive extra short manga that came out right when the volume was released. They are fairly hard to come by nowadays. I tracked down three of them, one is a cute story about the trio's adventure with yuzu fruit, one is them in Yukata on a summer festival, one is them in a cake buffet shop and Nagiko and Kazuya getting enthusiastic about the sweets offerings. All are nice slice of life extra offerings from their school/uni times, but not essential to the plot. Personally, while a physical book is great, I would suggest going for the digital copy. The 4p extra is great, since it's a sequel, and has, within the space of just 4 page heart-wrenching closet pain scars, adorkable cute and fun moments and more of an actual physical intimacy that the main story is falling short of, since it ends before their relationship starts fulfilling itself. (Also an extra drop, just in case anyone would still have doubted this to be bromance despite all the clear wordings that are being used.)

As for English readable versions of this.... Tough luck.

As of the beginning of 2022 there is no official English release (or any other language that I've seen) nor a full scanlation of this piece to be found. The 8-page prologue however appears to have a prototype version. (Like with the Pixiv chapters version of the first half of the official release, the content is basically completely the same, but with less polished art. It does look much more refined than the Pixiv chapter's rough art state though, so maybe it was the magazine release version?) and a scanlation of it done in 2015 seems to float around as 'Unrequited Love/両片思い'. The Pixiv version of the first double chapter appears to also have had a scanlation of the same scanlation group, but it seems like it's become pretty much untraceable.

Other than that also be aware that the author's page on MU for Nagiko's Gotou (後藤) seems to be mixed with some other Gotou (後頭) who produced a bunch of smut BL. (Anime-planet's entry is the most accurate out there.) Aside Nagiko no Hanashi's print release in 2015-2016 there is only Amagasa wo Tojiru Natsu that came out 2021 compiling chapters that were released 2018-2020 in the ihr HertZ magazine. There was also a short called Ragnatela published in the magazine that remains uncollected outside of it. The short stories compilation Nakeru BL also features a very cute BL short called Home Sweet Home. (Read about that one here.)

There isn't much out of Gotou's pen yet, so there also isn't much name branding yet. (Doesn't help that 後藤 is also not exactly a rare name to begin with.)

In any case, I'm definitely getting hyped for the drama now. (Please make the dramatic parts have as good acting as Utskushii Kare. But maybe with a bit less shacky cam at the end)

(It'd be so great if these extras would become their own serial about of an ongoing relationship of two working adults and their domestic life. But I'm not complaining, I take the yearly batch that Gotou graces pixiv with, too.)

thoughts on mistral? comparing the jpn vs eng dialogue, she uses a polite address for raiden (but calls him a white man as opposed to the euphemism in eng lol). i thought she was interesting until i got to the second part of her cutscene dialogue

wait she just straight up calls him a white man? that's so funny i love her 'if you're from africa why are you white'. oh my god mistral you can't just ask people why they're white.

i don't hate her, or at least not as much as i do sundowner or jetstream sam. she's not even on monsoon's level of 'you are truly a piece of shit but you do make me laugh so i hate you somewhat less than the other guys.' it helps that she died before the plot really kicked into high gear (pun not intended).

points against her are that she's yet another part of the 'let's just shove raiden's trauma in his face' squad and i know she was pretty awful to blade wolf too. also, she's not nearly as bad as sam but she can still make me deeply uncomfortable (no one talk about anyone being shown a good time in front of raiden ever again please and thank you)

points for her are again 'if you're from africa why are you white' and the fact that she led to a truly iconic scene (he blocked it... with his sword... he's so funny) and i also do find it amusing that like everyone involved in the situation except raiden is very, shall we say, distracted by her. i might be too if it weren't for her having a terrible personality.

and also the arms. the arms creep me out.

Just a note~ : This exclusive memories is already available in Eng Server but you see, my fondness level is just 10 (ಥ_ಥ) in mlqc {I check in mini house like twice a month-} so curiosity got the best of me and went to translate this last level-40 story. I might even release Kiro’s one later, I went on a full translation marathon because I was unusually free today. The first crescent moon hung in the dark ink-like night sky and star-studding with cool breeze.

Gavin and I were sitting on the balcony with two astronomical telescopes in front of us.

Gavin : "Now turn the screw on the finder mirror to adjust the distance."

I carefully turned the screw on the finderscope for the fifth time but my vision was still blurred.

I looked up from behind the telescope to see Gavin beside me and shook my head discouragingly.

MC : "It still doesn't work."

Gavin : "Let me."

As soon as the voice fell, Gavin had already stood behind me. He leaned down and opened his arms, embraced me and helped me set up the telescope.

He looked at the sky and the space from the telescope earnestly and the moonlight passed over his profile, leaving a string of starlight on his lower collar.

I couldn't see his expression but I felt warmth radiating from him.

After a while, he moved away from behind the telescope. But before he could speak, both of us were a little stunned.

I realized how close we were, so close that I could clearly feel his breathing and could hear the beating of his heart.

Gavin : "Ahem, it's fine now. Give it a try."

I hurriedly turned to the telescope, trying to bury my flushed face behind the lens like a small bird.

Gavin : "Can you see it now?"

MC : "Y-yeah. I can see it now..."

After a dazzling white light, a slightly turbulent lunar crate slowly emerged.

The mottled surface is like being dotted with light scattered sporadically. Occasionally like lights, occasionally like stars.

MC : "It's so beautiful..."

Gavin : "When I saw it for the first time, I was stunned too."

He looked into the distance, his eyes were clear and bright without any impurities. As if they were the stars falling from the sky.

MC : "I've only seen it in the pictures until now so, I didn't expect that seeing through a telescope with my own eyes would create such a different mood."

Gavin : "Seeing it with your own eyes is indeed different than hearing a retelling by someone else."

MC : "Can we watch the starry sky together often in the future too?"

Gavin : "Sure. But--"

He turned his head from looking at the starry sky and stretched out his hand to me.

Gavin : "It's been a long time since we walked in the starry sky. Do you want to go now?"

I hadn't reacted yet but my hand accidentally touched the palm of his outstretched hand towards me.

The next second, he hugged me and flew out of the small balcony.

The night breeze brushed my ears, bringing a bit of coolness. Gavin's embrace was warm and powerful and the temperature that belonged to him spread to my whole body expelling all the cold.

Surrounded by countless of stars and condensed into a dazzling sea of stars, it seemed to be more onerous than any gorgeous love in the world. ----- The next day.

Today, we are going to record the show. It was originally scheduled to be finished at 6pm but due to the continuous problems of the recording site, the recording was not finished until 10pm.

When I looked at my phone's lock screen, I realized that it was half past eleven already.

MC : "Oh no! Gavin must be very worried!"

I quickly tried to unlock the phone, only to find that the phone's battery was dead.

I hurriedly packed my things, intending to rush back as quickly as possible.

Gavin : "Slow down. Don't worry."

MC : "Gavin?"

Gavin stood in front of my eyes, bent down and sorted out my messy things one by one. He picked up my backpack in one hand and held my hand in the other.

He glanced at me twice, a trace of worry flashed in his eyes as if he wanted to say something but stopped again, just holding my hand tightly.

Gavin : "Let's go." ----- The street lights are dim and only my figure and Gavin's are stretched out and reflected on the street.

The night breeze was cold but his hands were warm.

MC : "Why....are you here?"

Gavin : "You were too late in coming home and the phone didn't get through."

MC : "Sorry, the shooting progress was a bit slow today. How long have you been waiting?"

Gavin : "It wasn't that long."

I raised my eyes to look at his calm face, my heart stagnated and distressed emotions overflowed.

MC : "Will you instead wait for me at home from next time?"

Gavin : "No, I'm worried about you."

Gavin : "Your face doesn't look so well and your hands are very hot."

MC : "Ah? Is it? May-Maybe it's because I stayed for too long inside, the air feels a bit stiff."

My voice getting smaller and smaller, almost inaudible.

I did feel uncomfortable when I woke up in the morning but Gavin was absent. I couldn't find the medicine box even after searching for a while so, I thought about buying it on my way to work but I still forgot anyways...

Another night breeze blew and my body was trembling with slightest coldness. Gavin frowned and took off his coat to wrap me in it. He held me in his arms and comforted me.

Gavin : "We're almost home." ----- The following night, I had a high fever just as I predicted.

Probably because of my fever, my entire mind was in chaos and my body felt too heavy to move.

In a daze, Gavin fed me the medicine and kept changing the towels that quickly became hot.

I couldn't even open my eyes, I could only feel his panicking figure walking back and forth.

Perhaps, when you're sick, one becomes particularly vulnerable so even if you're very embarrassed, you can't help but hope that your most important person can be by your side.

After Gavin changed the towel again, I searched his hand vigorously like a last straw, preventing him from leaving even a step.

He reached out and touched my face with a gentle expression.

Gavin : "I'll change the water in the basin and be back soon."

I refused to let go. I wanted to open my mouth to say something but found that my throat seemed to be blocked by a foreign body. There was pain but I couldn't make a sound so, I just grabbed him tightly.

Gavin : "Okay, I'm not leaving."

Maybe he felt my persistence, he took my hand into his palm, leaned on the bedside and hugged me into his arms.

The familiar breath came to my face but maybe it was because of the fever, I felt that he had a hint of coolness at this moment.

Gavin : "Sorry, I didn't take care of you properly."

You said that sm froze exo's projects. But when it comes to promoting them individually we see a huge difference. SM is promoting everyone but Ksoo. It has been on hiatus from 2019 until now. That idiot manager when it was Ks' solo time disappeared and just came back now. It is clear that Ks is being "excluded" from the group. It's a SM move so when his leave news is confirmed there is no damage.

This is a little bit of what I think...

To me since the late of 2017 sm froze exo until they need the huge money to save their life. Their promote for exo not a huge dif like it should be even sumsung need exo power for their phone but at last only kr can get it... Then see how sumsung pro with bts now and then... <<Tbh I don't think ss need exo for only kr selling, but at last under the sm command... If you need exo, no global promo!! <<And I still hype to hear what sm said to billboard when they denied bb's invitation to exo on that time...

And to me... power power is the last huge work plan & promo from sm to exo...

Ok, you can say "but tempo and loveshot"

But again, to me tempo promotion not a gift from sm but only some L backup power... That made sm kicked this album out...

And love shot is the fragment from tempo at the last minute of d-day plan to release and promo by other factors... If think of how dubi effect after power song magic at dubai fountain and jennie jennie she had sugar daddy... And blabla things...<<I still remembered when cy remembered that some song from loveshot is in tempo...

Tbh, I still disgusted about everything in tempo era like maybe we have seen the thing that not should be like what exo think it should be when sm present this album to them at first time until the real released date...

cbx, sc, bh lay and ji solo - album were released by their fc and some of their backup power not what sm need to do by their desire....

And because most of them are my bias even ji is my main and ks is my second + How they are before sm tries hard to nerf their influence...

So, what sm promo to another 8 are not what I think it should be by their talent, fc power and marketing power....

Another 7 should be get more and more treat from sm... <<Sorry, to not +lay. Because I think lay already has huge backup at cn... No need to worry about him much...

Tbh, I felt like this 😐 when I see sc's first project...

To me... By their influ and talent...

Their first should be more effective + high qc in every part of their project than that...

But their boss's power under the name of kr entertainment business dealing and culture made them can do only 0 below movement...

jd and his second baby... Like he knew he has more time to grow them up and no worry about exo work, only focus solo work XD

And how se steamed his ig live with jm after ks's early entered announcement with 2 alarmist rabbits mode... Made me think of that...
