The closest schizophrenia-related concept to 'identity splits' I am aware of that comes from reputable sources is that of ego fragmentation also known as ipseity disturbances or self-disorders, which was talked about in Chapter 5 of Psychosis, Trauma, and Dissociation. I don't have the energy to summarize it all, but here are some informative sections from the chapter:

I consider this fragmentation or splitting of the ego to be a special form of dissociation, striking the ego/self along the five basic dimensions of vitality, activity, coherence/consistency, demarcation, and identity... ...the peculiar rigidity and fragility of the schizophrenic ego, which predisposes it to fragmentation, contrasts with the fluid ego states observed in DID and BPD. This ‘ego‐fluidity’ may protect those with DID or BPD from the extreme fragmentation and deterioration seen in the schizophrenic syndromes... ...The statements made by schizophrenic patients about their self‐experience and the relationship between their self‐experience and behaviour was the starting point for the study of ego‐pathology.

In regards to Ishval potentially being framed as an equal power against Amestris in that ask about WWII;

It’s more obvious in Mangahood but there’s a detail about how Ishvalan soldiers are a lot more skilled than Amestrians due to their training; It was said 1 Ishvalan could take down 10 soldiers, something like that. And the idea was that this made Amestris resort to the State Alchemists to win, this was why Bradley signed order 3066.

And I can’t help but be reminded of how Vietnam veterans will talk about how scary it was to occupy a village because the viet cong boogeyman could be any one of the villagers! They would ‘hide’ among them and attack! So the Americans just HAD to raze down villagers to keep themselves safe!

Also IIRC there was a moment in the manga during the genocide flashback where some soldiers barge into an Ishvalan congregation, and the priest makes a prayer to Ishvala before he and all of the civilians blow themselves up. And we see a soldier scared and dying from the explosion from the perspective of our traumatized war criminal protagonist who was there, I forgot which one.

As you guessed, it was a set up for a trap. We managed to decide his little messages and found the tooth that he "chipped". We relocated Malcom and hoped to use the tracker to lure as many of you people out. Crow figured it would be an easy way to catch a bunch of villains and rogue heroes. But only @j-ckdaw showed up, and honestly, he's not worth the trouble. Our plan may have failed, but so has yours.

For those curious I compiled a bit of information about Lilosian Pidoves!

They are a very popular pet pokemon in the town of Twistvale and even when they're not pets you can find them all over the place just like here in Unova! Though in Twistvale they have huge bird houses that they all go to roost in at night and if you ever visit I definitely recommend going because they're so so friendly and will eat right out of your hand if you offer something to them(or if you don't lol, I've definitely gotten my snacks stolen a couple times)

They also come in a lot of styles and variations but the most common is the one pictured above- but they also come with speckles and spots and in different colors like black, blue and brown apart from the standard red (I've even seen a couple of more golden ones before!)

They're very sweet- and I would show you my pal Denton who lives at the shop with me as an example of their fully evolved forms but he's pretty camera shy and I don't have any good pictures from when he was little...

I love Unovan pidoves too!! Their little tufts of hair make it look like they have crowns and it's so so cute I also love the sleek look of their black beaks and wings! They're like a whole different species compared to the fluffy lilosian boys :D
