I love it when characters just get to be chill and act their age.

examples:

Keefe spending the day at Disney in Unraveled

Sophie getting Biana, keefe, Fitz, dex, and herself gelato when they were joining the Neverseen and were in Italy

The seven getting gelato (except Frank who’s lactose intolerant and got an apple) in the heroes of olympus

Mulch, Artemis, and Holly stuffing their faces with Opal Koboi’s truffles. (It was part of the plan but you get the point)

max-earnest and yo-Yoji going insane with sundaes and jungle gyms and zip lines while Cass got her nails done (who is that and what have you done with Cassandra?!) in the secret series

I just love when characters get to enjoy simple pleasures like this.

yeah so I didn’t really want a redemption arc for Alvar but I guess I got it and it was like… eh

I don’t like him, but appreciated the whole thing by the end

switching gears the little 5 sentence convo about gay people made me really happy and I started crying (I’m sleep deprived give me a break)

the pancake thing was kind of weird

also whyyyy did Shannon use the “foster feels” quote there were so many good things he said

i really hope Keefe doesnt hide the Alvar thing too long because that would absolutely decimate his and Fitz’s friendship

also lolllllll freaking Cass Lordeman help that’s hilarious

something something Keefe and his father really aren’t that different but Keefe was able to be his own person and rebel against injustice instead of hiding your head in the sand

overall I really liked it and think it accomplished a good amount of backstory; it was probably necessary for the overall story. I do however wish she had gone deeper into his backstory instead of the present
