Door and Alan’s interactions are sooo good. outside of the great acting and range of emotion, their characters really balance out each other in their similarities. it’s fun watching how two people outside of their own realities with questionable intentions and power interact. My toxic trait is thinking that Tomura should get OFA solely bc he and Nana need to hug it out

“Blah blah great power blah blah great responsibility blah fate of the world” but have u considered that physical touch is their shared love language and that “touch” being taken from them both is a cornerstone of the Shimura Tragedy™. and also, that the last physical contact either of them ever had with their family is a source of intense heartbreak for them both,. have you,,,.

*insert something something about MHA defining true heroism as protecting the future (and specifically safeguarding the futures of children), while Tomura’s inner self is frequently depicted as a child who is frozen in the moment of his worst trauma and has no future bc AFO deliberately created a situation where he would never be able to heal or move on from his past*

^ Like, I need this *gestures vaguely* to come full circle with a third Shimura Family Hug. But not in a mind crushingly depressing way where Tomura is just so desperate for comfort that he’ll settle for hugging a pile of remains-- I want the third hug to symbolize that he’s made peace with himself and is able to accept that he didn’t actually want his family to die, and that he's finally ready to start moving on from his past and looking forward to his future under much much much healthier terms. And I want Nana’s wish for her family to live a life full of smiles and joy to ultimately be revisited and fulfilled with Tomura— with her final hug sending Tomura off to a hopeful future where those who inherited her legacy finally step up and involve themselves in his life instead of dooming him to a life of unresolved abandonment issues. Seraphim 266613336 Wings is a politically odd manga because it expresses an overtly leftist perspective on the existence of borders, apartheid states, refugees, genocide/ethnic cleansing, eugenics and state-sanctioned violence, but uses a Hakka elite-run China as a half-metaphor for Israel in a way that....doesn't quite pan out. The series has trouble condemning the individual actors of this story who are responsible for the state's present condition, but they're not in any way depicted as justified, either. They're more...reactive. Less autonomous. They're set pieces whose political power and ideals are ultimately subordinate to the greater existential threat. I feel as if the standard Mamoru Oshii brand of pessimism wherein everyone from commonfolk to academics to political elites are spiritually debilitated by their society swallows what could be meaningfully illustrated with these powers. If the tone of the story was 1:1 with Jin-Roh, I would be less critical, but Satoshi Kon's touch is so inspired that it leaves me wanting to see more. It feels trite complaining because this series was not completed for A Very Obvious Reason (rip king), so these elements aren't as fleshed out as they were intended to be, but still! It's such an ambitious work that this chasm just makes it feel even more incomplete.

The compromise that Satoshi Kon and Mamoru Oshii agreed on to develop the plot is palpable enough that you can match which sentiments expressed by the series line up with whos body of work. The afterword of the translation I'm reading even humorously expands on it.

Tried awkwardly asking my dad if he wanted to see Across the Spiderverse with me and he said "Maybe" before saying "I thought you were Anti-Marvel" and I'm like "No I don't like the MCU" and he's like "But-" and I briefly explained MCU refers to the Disney and Marvel produced movies that strip the original characters of their essence in order to make them mass marketable and produce as many movies as they can and Spiderverse is a Sony Animated production and I couldn't see his face because I was drying my hair off and he was playing video games but I imagine he was just sitting there like :|

I don’t think they have serious fights that often, but when they do it’s usually because someone (*Cough* Tori *Cough*) is being a bit too reckless or something. It doesn’t usually take them that long to reconcile, usually Tori is first to apologize often with a ‘yeah ok I was stupid’ or ‘I wasn’t really thinking, sorry’ some kind of hug probably goes along with it. 

Ok I kind of also want to answer a little for Laurence & Wakeland (Bc they live rent free in my brain).

I don’t think these two fight that often either, but less because of lack of disagreements and more because they probably tiptoe around stuff more (noble upbringing, social niceties kind of stuff). 

But when they do have a full blown disagreement it can be a lot because Wakeland is incredibly stubborn and Laurence is incredibly persistent. I think the biggest disagreement they have is on the fact that Wakeland doesn’t feed, Laurence thinks it’s fine so long as no one is getting seriously hurt (I mean come on I’m a walking bag of blood and magic, you can have a snack I don’t mind!), and Wakeland absolutely refuses to feed no matter what (for reasons that Laurence doesn’t know). 

They kind of have an agree to disagree thing on it, Laurence respects her holding so true to principles, but he wishes it didn’t come at the price of her health (Babygirl you have fainted 5 times this week, it is Tuesday)

I don't think Sariel would process that there's anything going on about this outfit at all.

Like idk i remember the way he didn't understand what a kiss was after seeing it for example and i think this is just, Sariel's general reaction to stuff we might consider a bit lewd. He doesn't have any "normal" to compare it to and probably doesn't really understand the big deal in all of it.

would say i believe Sariel to be immune to anything too lewd by pure "don't get it, don't have the reference on why it would be weird, whatever, he does what he likes to do"
