Oh boy get ready for my controversial opinion on this pairing: I don’t think Effie and Haymitch want to or ever do become a real couple. I think they’re just too different.

Do I think they care for each other very deeply, probably even love each other? Yes 1000% (peep the Trisha reference), have they probably been having semi regular sex for years? Yes 1000% I just don’t think they ever want to become a real couple.

I think that during the games they had a sort of workplace forced proximity based relationship which was only the workplace partnership plus some recreational physical activity (lol), but nothing really beyond that. I mean, Haymitch is very much an alcoholic and not pleasant to be around. He’s also unlikely to change for Effie of all people, based on his past trauma and his attitude towards forming close relationships. I think that they get to know each other somewhat during that pre Katniss and Peeta time and develop a certain respect and friendship for the other.

Once the rebellion happens and Effie is imprisoned and eventually released they return to their friendship I think, mainly via occasional phone calls. Effie sometimes visits to see the whole gang, but I think Haymitch has a habit of telling her to get herself someone worthy of her once and for all.

I also think that Effie eventually does find that person and that her #1 cheerleader is Haymitch himself. He is truly happy for her and thinks she deserves to be happy. He has a toast ready to go for her wedding.

Whether or not Haymitch ever gets a partner is difficult for me to picture. I think it would be nice, and that Katniss probably wants that for him, but I don’t think Haymitch would seek anyone out for himself. I think he’d require a meddling daughter and meddling former friends-with-benefits duo to get him into a relationship.

I love the hayffie stories, of course, but I think it’s only plausible with the versions of Haymitch and Effie we get in the movies, not the book versions. I think that the book versions have a deeply loving/caring connection but are not compatible in lifestyle. I can’t see book Effie moving to 12 to be with Haymitch. I also don’t see any version of Haymitch ever moving away from district 12 for any woman.

So to get back to the topic of this actual ask, I think the last person Haymitch is gonna let talk him into visiting the doctor is Effie. Just because of the dynamic of their friendship — it’s very much a you can’t tell me what to do (playful) vibe. The only woman in his life who can force him to do things is (and don’t you tell her) Katniss. He loves that girl to pieces and she knows and abuses that fact. Eventually things get worse when Katniss gives birth to her mini-me and he’s once again forced to love an Everdeen girl at the cost of his own peace of mind (woe is him lmao).

Let's Talk About Shinsou

*Note: Lmao, do I tag this as Anti Shinsou or Pro Shinsou??*

Despite being a pretty popular character overall, Shinsou seems to be under a lot of scrutiny with my fellow Bakugou antis. And I understand why. Our first introduction to him isn't a pleasant one; he's first shown taunting Class 1A about being attacked by villains (a generally traumatic experience) out of jealousy. It's also been noted that Aizawa spends more time training him than his actual class (though, this is more of an issue with Aizawa than Shinsou). Personality wise, he (subjectively) isn't pleasant or very entertaining either.

I'm impartial to him myself as I don't love him or hate him. He's just... there really (a fate many characters suffer). But you know what I think of when I think about Shinsou's character? Wasted potential.

My Hero Academia is constantly tossing the term rival around the show. There's the rivalry between Izuku, Bakugou, and Todoroki which is why they became the main trio (don't @ me for this I'm speaking technicalities here). There's also the infamous (one-sided) rivalry between All Might and Endeavor, a driving force behind not only Endeavor's actions against his family but a large part of the overall plot of the show.

When I first watched the Sports Festival and Izuku's match with Shinsou, I was positive they were setting them up to be rivals.

No, I don't mean the "rivalry" Izuku has with Bakugou (Bakugou stans don't @ me). I don't mean the friendly rivalries he has with Todoroki or Iida either.

I mean a straight-up rivalry. Where they don't become friends. Where they don't get along with or like one another (maybe a grudging respect at the most). I was sure Shinsou was going to be someone to constantly challenge Izuku; not only on a physical level, but ideologically too.

The Sports Festival partially set this up by calling attention to the similarities between Izuku's past and Shinsou's. While Izuku was discriminated against for his lack of quirk, Shinsou was treated differently and outcast because he had a "villainous" quirk. But they take on two different attitudes. Shinsou is bitter and full of contempt while Izuku was optimistic and determined to help a world full of people who shunned him. The show was deliberately setting up parallels between them.

But this dynamic is almost non-existent. Whatever interaction they do get is towards the end of the manga (Shinsou was introduced in the Sports Festival, an extremely early part of the series and in the show he's non-existent until season 5). And there's none of the previous complexity there was before.

Even if Shinsou was unlikable overall, it might have been worth it for him to be Izuku's real rival. His opposite not only in personality and attitude, but also heroics. Izuku can rely on his strength and the powers OF A give him, Shinsou would have to rely on his skills and brain. Their quirks are somewhat opposite to one another (at least in how they use them). Seeing them have to work together even though they'd usually approach things differently would have been way better than what we usually get.

I think that dynamic would have been a lot more interesting to watch than the trio or whatever you can Izuku and Bakugou (I will not refer to them as the Wonder Duo because wtf is that).

What do my fellow antis think? Would Shinsou have been a good rival if written well enough? Is there anyone else you would have preferred? Personally, I'd take anything over Izuku and Bakugou.

*Note: While we're on this topic, I think Monoma could have been Bakugou's rival. Someone who's calm and collected to contrast Bakugou's temper and whose quirk can easily rival his. I would have preferred that over subjecting Izuku to abuse under the guise of rivalry. I really wish Horikoshi would have kept them separate and allowed them to grow as heroes on their own without their toxic, codependent relationship. Maybe I would have tolerated Bakugou more. Monoma also isn't bothered by Bakugou so he wouldn't have had to go through the same thing Izuku did*

okay I got a question about the role swap au, so what role does halara, desuhiko, Fubuki and Vivia have? Do they work at Amaterasu corporation?

hiii thank you so much for asking <333 they also have swapped with all of the peacekeepers, so they work under yuma for amaterasu. that means the peacekeepers also become detectives! not sure on whether or not ill draw all that but we'll see ^w^ also- the rest of the cast does not swap. it's just the NDA and the peacekeepers. makoto plays the same role, and also the side characters such as victims and culprits. except chapter 4. i haven't fully formed my ideas about how chapter 4 turns out, since in this au, huesca is already dead.

halara, while not as straightforward as swank about their desire for money, would still insist on yomi's arrest while also trying to swindle money out of him. they're just as cool and intimidating as always, and they are honestly a really cruel tutorial enemy lmao i think their arguments would be hard to counter. halara's mystery phantom would have a lot of gambling aesthetics to it, like a fancy blackjack dealer that's decorated with dominoes and playing cards and they also look like a member of the band Kiss attending a pride parade. yknow?

vivia does largely the same as seth does: covering up the truth for his personal benefit. he facilitates funds from the church under yuma's command and is genuinely pretty distraught when yuma throws him under the bus (in private, yuma would tell him he's being punished for such a sloppy investigation, despite vivia's protests that pursuing and exposing the truth would only hurt their funds and image). as an antagonist, vivia has a running bit where, instead of being too quiet to hear and needing a peacekeeper with a megaphone, he speaks in riddles and metaphors, sees no one understands him, and sighs heavily before just saying it straightforward lol. his mystery phantom would resemble a shambling yet haunting corpse. with disco rainbow lights on it.

desuhiko and fubuki work as a pair, however this time, unlike dominic, fubuki talks (side note: in this AU, dominic actually does talk. though, to keep the bit going, i think his first gumshoe gab with yomi would be yomi trying to spark up a conversation and dominic just silently glaring at him clearly wishing he'd go away. then yomi senses his killing intent and is like okay damn ill leave. martinagami then says they grew closer from that lmao. anyway.). desuhiko and fubuki have a comedy duo act dynamic where fubuki says something ridiculous and desuhiko plays the "straightman" role (not the sexuality, the comedy term) and it's lovely. their mystery phantoms would make them appear like a pair of traveling performers (at a pride parade), combining desuhiko's love for the stage and fubuki's love for adventure.

1. how long have you been watching smosh? WELL i do have very fond memories of watching the boys with my brother back in maybe 2011? 2012? maybe later idk. i specifically remember the pokémon vids, man-spider, the paranormal easy bake oven, and this one where the entire time you thought that he (i cannot remember who. i think anthony) got his dick stuck in a port-o-potty’s door, and he’s like stuck there for days, and the whole time you think it’s his dick that’s stuck, only for it to be revealed at the end that it was the burger that he brought in with him. THAT got stuck in the door 😭 idk why that one lives in my head so prominently, but it’s so stupid LMAO. anyway… then i started watching pewdiepie and eventually got more into shows on netflix (superwholock nation😐✊) than youtube. Unlike the werecats and werewolves, who work best together, or the mer of Cliffside Inn who mostly work better on an individual- or duo-basis, the Student Council is definitely meant to be mix and match, without any specific configuration working best. You can ask for all, some, or just one. Any combination or competition between members is meant to be viable here, as they have no “canon,” route to how their Darling meets them, or whose Darling they actually are.

I could see Darling warming up to Rayleigh for the reasons you stated, which might sow some bitterness and jealousy between her and the other two, though not necessarily enough to tear them apart. It might even influence them to treat you more softly, hoping to catch a glimpse of the rare genuine smiles you seem to reserve for Rayleigh.

However, I could also see Rayleigh being just as draining as the other two— imagine after being kidnapped, trying to escape, and getting your ankles broken by the other two, here comes Rayleigh crying and seeking comfort/reassurance from you, begging you to reassure her you really didn’t mean it, that you don’t really want to leave, seeming to forget you’re the one in need of comfort since your ankles just got fucking broken. i haven't been working on any particular part of lore (more focused on some other aus atm) but i've been thinking more about the swap !! era.. mayoi's not really involved, but i do have some ideas for the eccentrics (they rot my brain always)

trying to start things off on a light note, the eccentrics definitely went on like,, trips together. particularly things like camping/hiking considering how many of them are like "society and people are weird. revert to rock" lmao. tsumugi would probably tag along a lot too

valkyrie was kind of just a result of mayoi and tsumugi's unlikely friendship during the war. it's pretty much just two skrunklies nerding over historical fashion

valk's old songs still happen, sora takes nazuna's place in them

i can just see tsumugi, mayoi, and sora hiding in like. the basement. of yumenosaki playing video games as they wait for the war to be over

i feel like mayoi would be afraid of himeru until he sees the others' softer side (doting on kaname) and then is like. huh. he's not that bad

i'm not too sure who forms a duo with wataru before crazy:b tbh,, natsume could easily make sense if i just made his relationship with his mom worse (i need to make up for the lost angst! /hj) but a wataru/koga duo is really funny to me

something bad happens between wataru/shu/kuro (possibly before or during high school) which takes the place of the amagi family conflict in canon for the !! era. i'm not really sure what that is yet though

both alk and cb have the sort of odd found family dynamic here too. except alk gets two mom friends and cb gets two deranged uncles

Idk it seems to me at least Jimin was in love or something. The dumpling incident and the way he was with Tae at that time and later… All shy, then tender, then strained a bit… ya can’t imitate that. The only alternative in my mind is that they were told to “play soulmates” narrative by company, which is honestly… a bullshit? They said no to some songs, so they would say so to something like that.

The question is was the feeling reciprocated? Because I don’t get their dynamics now at all: at times I think they look like soft type of brothers with all these stories about fights and jokes (and scenes like when they imitated a kiss while rehearsal of simple and then grimaced and smiled — that’s smth like “haha sooo funny we’d never really kiss hahaha” to me) and rumors about Tae (hard to not fall for that shit), and at times when something extremely soft happens I feel…gaslighted lmao because jeez I wouldn’t do many of the things they’ve done in 2016-2022 to my siblings, because it feels a bit cringe. There are times of this weird tension idk.

Let's be honest. Some of the things in the book are changed to suit the readers. There are various people who will read the book so they would do what they can to satisfy every audiences curiosity but at the same time try to tone things down but just enough to keep you wanting more. It's what they have been doing for so long.

But I want to ask? Why do you feel like this? People have what they call a sixth sense but many choose to ignore it. A lot of people feel something's off with Jimin and Taehyung out of everyone else in the group. This weird dynamics you all are just noticing now because they are in their solo era is something I had noticed a long time ago even while they were in the group but unlike a lot of people, I don't ignore my sixth sense.

Now, we haven't seen the members gathered in one place for a long time but no one questions Jimin and Taehyung's bond with other members. Yet, question their bond with each other even when they see them being close. Even when they call each other soulmates? Even when they try to disprove the rumors around them in their own way. It's not like a full on hate against them. It's more like this boundary most of the fandom has created for them. Almost like a silent warning; we know you are soulmates and all but don't go past that. We don't want to know.

So the sixth sense about whatever might be going on about them is shut off. Most people will rather believe that they are enemies than to reason with that thought nagging at the back of their minds that something is off or weird about them.

Jimin and Taehyung both value friendships. Taehyung is known for even keeping contact with his high school friends. Jimin is more private with his friends but we all know the kind of soul he is. How selfless he is for the people he cares about. Unless a deep betrayal occurred between the two of them. Something neither can forgive each other for then such a thing can happen. Even drifting apart shouldn't be considered because Taehyung wouldn't let that happen. Looking at how close he is with Jungkook who people thought he had drifted apart from should be proof to you. Taehyung loves to mantain relationships and trust me the last person he would want to loose connection with is his fellow 95 liner from Bts who he debuted with, lived with, grew up with, had lots of memories with both the good and bad ones. He hasn't drifted apart from others. Out of everyone in his life, it's Jimin he would rather cut off ties with. Jimin!

Jimin likewise who mantains long term friendships with those close to him like Soonyoung, Taemin amongst others. Out of everyone would choose to be distant from Taehyung while still mantaining friendships with others in the group.

Why are things so different with them? What is up with the two of them? Did they date and break up? Did one of them steal the others beloved? What's with all the secrecy?

But it's none of those things because we can still see even though many choose to ignore it that they have a good rapport with each other but they won't behave like the usual friendships or the usual ship just to satisfy our cravings. They won't do vlives or post their personal pictures for our enjoyment even though they know we desperately want that. They won't let us into that world. They will keep that to themselves no matter what people say about them. Especially now when they will be entering the military, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't want the attention on them.

People shouldn't bother about what they will be doing now. They should rather be interested in what happens after their military service because that to me is when the real fun begins. We will really know what's going on. For now, believe in them. Even though people don't want to see them as anything other than the friends they are but at least we should acknowledge the bond they subtly try to show and stop belittling every thing they do because they aren't showing off like typical friends do. So Roses. First of all I love me some royalty au’s. Especially, with succession struggles. So when you do get around to writing it, it will eat that shit up. That’s also what instantly hooked me on Stars royalty + space.

Anyway, you are once again creating an speaking story simply by flipping the overdone dynamics around. I can’t speak for Techno or Tommy, but so far none of SBI are royalty. It’s very fun to see Phil as the royal advisor (who definitely has his own agenda with all the secret messages). I do think he has a lot more power than you would think. He got his way very easily with Sam. Like he basically got permission to make the decision.

I’m gonna be honest, I was expecting Phil to try and push Wilbur as a potential heir, but I think he’s more trying to set up a puppet king situation. Like he wants Quackity at the palace because if he does become heir he’s more likely to take Wilbur as his advisor if he already knows him. Also I feel like the tnt duo is going to be off the charts in this story. It feels like it’s going to be childhood friends/rivals maybe both.

And then there’s Sam. Sam who doesn’t want to get married because he has Ponk, even if he could get married and keep him. I do think that’s very sweet, but that action has consequences. We’ll enjoy the fallout.

oh yeah phil's definitely got way more power than you'd think he would. the inspo for sandduo in this au came from house of the dragon actually, and while this won't make sense if you haven't seen it, at one point I was like "man what if Otto Hightower wasn't a total dick to Alicent and she was actually into his scheming and the two worked together when she was younger they'd be a very powerful father daughter duo" and then the idea of 'advisor to the king phil who has so many schemes of his own going on + wilbur his son working with him and learning from him' popped into my head. (that's where the inspo ends tho bc like. there aren't gonna be any marriage manipulation plots in this fic lol)

sam is not really a... forceful king to be honest. he relies a lot on phil for his advice, and the Consil's role also includes taking over for the king if he's sick or unavailable at a certain time. so the Consil is essentially the second most powerful person in the kingdom. also related to what you said at the end, he doesn't want to get married because he has ponk yes, but it's going to cause a lot of fallout. he doesn't really care though. when it comes to running the kingdom, he's more than happy to let phil do the hard stuff for him. but he has one line and he's gonna draw it there, succession crisis be damned

the thing is, wilbur as a potential heir would never work. because this is based (albeit loosely) off medieval royalty politics, which were all about blood. wilbur and phil don't have any blood ties to the royal family. wilbur could never be an heir because he's not blood-related to sam, unlike niki who is sam's cousin, and quackity who is his nephew. so yeah, that's off the table so what's phil gonna go for instead? second best option :)

ohhhh the tntduo is gonna be so fun in this fic. the main wilbur relationships I think I'm gonna focus on are (in no particular order): rainduo, crimeboys, tntduo, and sandduo (with a healthy dose of sweaterduo too)

ST4 Thoughts

Alright, apologies for those who were waiting for this, it's unlikely there would be but anyways wow what a season also please excuse my messy structure, i have too many emotions that i can't exactly type out okay so

At first I didn't like the new season, i'm not very open to seeing new characters and atmosphere

I wasn't too fond of eddie, he just gave off billy vibes, when i mean billy vibes i mean he looked scary, forceful, i didn't like his treatment towards mike and dustin, he also looked like one of those goth people or something who think they're so cool, but that quickly went away when he and chrissy had a talk, like he was so reassuring??? he was so soft to her??? I loved them, they had potential but yk she died which honestly i was not expecting,

its so funny how they just made this dude on the run during half of the season, i literally hoped the basketball team wouldn't hurt him, stranger things really does have that magic where unbearable characters that are entwined with the supernatural shit, like witness it turned out to be really likable

( ngl i expected eddie to actually perform while being in the upside down because it was in the trailer like lmao think about it)

also I liked fred too poor dude, nancy's friends just keep dying on her- and argyle just gives off hippie vibes and all so he was cool, i literally laughed at his panic during the gun scenes

dmitri turned out to be a pretty awesome character too, i love his dynamic with hopper, like i fucking hoped he wouldn't die during the demogorgon battle and also One??? JAMIE CAMPBELL BOWER NAILED THAT ROLE, I LOVED HIM, I'M SO GLAD HE'S GETTING RECOGNITION LIKE AT LEAST HIS MOST KNOWN ROLE WOULD BE ONE NOT CAIUS ANYMORE

WHAT A QUEEN I LOVE HER, I was also so happy to see the sinclairs winning their respective games especially Lucas, he actually got more relevance in this season bravo, i felt so bad for him because he was just so lonely? None of his friends are there for him and max broke up with him? Then he got replaced with his sister, though temporarily but i felt like to him it felt permanent and im sure he felt really hurt to see that his friends whom he wanted to be in his game were cheering for erica which could've been him, and like he's tired of being a loser, he just wants it all to stop i love that we had more depth on his character

So that's my thoughts on season four, i can't wait for vol. 2, i'm so glad I became a part of this hype and watched the series in general like i just started the show on a bluff but this show has made me so happy, it has comforted me and i am totally immersed in it

The Ace x Nancy x Tamura of It All

I’m here as a hardcore Nace shipper (see the URL) to throw my two cents into the Ace x Nancy x Tamura discussion.

Some of you straight up hate Tamura and that’s cool, I get it, no judgement, but I personally like him a lot as a character. And I LOVE the connection he and Nancy have. Their repartee is entertaining, they share a passion for solving mysteries which is key to being Nancy’s friend, and their very different life experiences help balance each other out. 

You know, since one of them is grounded in reality and the other is navigating through life in a supernaturally charged hellmouth.

That being said, I hope they grow closer during S3 WITHOUT becoming explicitly romantic. And I think that may be exactly what happens! At most, I think that while solving magical mysteries, Nancy and Tamura will engage in a fun little flirtationship  that will lead to genuine friendship. His partnership with Nancy would be solidified this way as well as his honorary membership to the Drew Crew. This could serve three purposes: 

Forcing Tamura to accept the supernatural elements of Horseshoe Bay, thus weaving him more intricately into the plot.

Creating tension between Nancy and Ace 😏

Exploring and adding depth to whatever sort of relationship they’re trying to establish between Tamura and Ace.

I see all of this playing out fairly simply: while Nick and George are busy juggling real life and a wedding, while Bess devotes her time and energy into researching her family history and finding love, and while Ace prioritizes Amanda, Nancy finds herself without proper backup. So! Perhaps unintentionally, Nancy gravitates to Tamura. There's crimes and mysteries to be solved and since her friends are not fully available to her, who better to turn to than the guy who’s job it is to investigate these things? And so begins the Nancy and Tamura buddy cop comedy that is both dreaded and highly anticipated depending on what social media outlet you’re using.

Though let me repeat: BUDDY COP. 

I really don’t think we’re going to have an Ed and Lorraine Warren situation on our hands with these two. Truly, if the S2 finale is anything to go by, I think S3 will allow Nancy to grow into herself outside of a romantic or sexual relationship. She’s not running from herself and into someone else’s bed anymore. She’s embracing and learning to love herself. I’d even go so far as to say Nancy’s love interest next season will be...Nancy lmao. 

As for Tamura, if they decide to give him a romantic interest, I think they would either have his ex-fiancée reenter the picture or maybe even do him dirty and stick him with Temperance for plot reasons. A doomed Tamura x Temperance romance would actually be fun to see, in my opinion, and would be a great way to open Tamura’s eyes to the supernatural. That’s just me spit-balling, though. Whether it’s because of Temperance or not, I think Tamura is finally going to have to accept ghosts and witches and magic are real this season. It’s just a requirement for working with Nancy Drew.

MOST IMPORTANTLY, we have to address the Nace of it all. Sorry to Tamura but I do believe you’re being used as an obstacle in True Love’s way next season. I think fandom’s general consensus is that the more time Nancy and Tamura spend together, romantic or not, the more jealous Ace will become. While I agree, I think Ace’s jealousy will stem from somewhere a little deeper than just seeing Nancy with another guy. 

Take Gil, for example. Ace was sort of jealous of Gil, but more than anything he was wary of him and concerned for Nancy’s wellbeing when she was with him. Unlike Ace, Gil never had anything to offer Nancy except for sex and a getaway car. He sure as hell was never her number one person. In fact, he wasn’t even Nancy’s number five person. There was never a reason for Ace to be envious of him.

Tamura, on the other hand, can prove to be just as much of an equal to Nancy as Ace is. As chief/lead detective, he also has power and influence that Ace and Nancy do not, and access to people and resources that Ace does not have (unless he can hack into them). Tamura can help Nancy bend and break the law without consequence if need be, too. And, although naive in regards to the mystics of Horseshoe Bay, he is just as smart as Nancy and has, on the rare occasion, even been one step ahead of her. Tamura is an asset, to say the least. Together, he and Nancy make a formidable duo.

That’s what will make Ace jealous. More than the prospect of romance between Nancy and Tamura, I think that Nancy finding another intellectual match is what will rub Ace the wrong way. They’ll find themselves at a brief moment in time where Nancy will turn to Tamura for assistance before anyone, including Ace, and Ace will realize he absolutely hates that someone who is not him is Nancy’s partner in crime now.

Maybe Nancy won’t notice, but Ace will probably realize his love for her is not of the philia sort. I’m sure Amanda also will. And? Maybe Tamura will see it too.

Which brings me to one of my favorite dynamics of the show: Ace and Tamura’s.

I’m not gonna sit here and spin my crazy conspiracy theory that they’re brothers. Though that idea will always hold a special place in my heart, slowly but surely I am accepting that Ace’s long lost brother really is Grant. I’m being a total grownup about it. I swear.

Nevertheless, I do think they’ve been trying to build some kind of relationship between Ace and Tamura since before Tamura even met Nancy. What sort of relationship? God, I wish I knew.

They meet each other first, which doesn’t necessarily mean a lot, but it’s worth noting that they’re on each other’s funny little shit lists before Nancy even enters Tamura’s picture. It’s also Ace and Ace alone that hears from McGuinness that Tamura will be replacing him in the same episode. Then, of course, we have that crazy Shabbat dinner in 2x03 that exacerbates their antagonistic relationship further. Then there’s their snarky banter and all of those totally unnecessary side-by-side shots of them saving Noah in 2x10. Apart from Nancy, Ace is the only member of the Drew Crew that we’ve seen Tamura develop a real connection with, even if it is an unfriendly one. And, as of now, their relationship doesn’t even have anything to do with Nancy.

So where are the writers going with this hilarious and hostile bond between Ace and Tamura? Has all of this really just been buildup for a romantic rivalry? Hey, maybe! I really can’t figure out another reason why the writers have gone out of their way to create their dynamic since the Brother Theory has been disproven. But something tells me this may be the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

And when I say “this”, I mean Tamura taking a step back from Nancy once he realizes he may just be filling in the love of her life’s shoes. Because that’s where I think all of this is going. Not necessarily anywhere romantic between Nancy and Tamura, but somewhere more friendly between Tamura and everyone.

At the end of it all, Tamura is going to finally embrace the supernatural, he’s going to become an ally to Nancy, Ace, and the rest of the Drew Crew, and, when the timing is right, he’s going to hop onboard the Nace ship with the rest of us. 

I HOPE.

That's not rude! As long as it's not code for 'I'm passive aggressively judging you through the screen' lmao. I love talking about the origins for my ships! :3

But anyway if you want a post where I wrote an analysis about the canon relationship I did just that for someone a while ago!

As for me personally? Aha. Well, funnily enough it started out as a joke. Kinda. My original dynamic was actually teetered towards Clumsy having a bit of a one sided obsession/crush on Handy, mainly based on OGSDA. It was more of a guilt ship at that time, as I was in the middle of liking ClumsyStorm and HandyxMarina. Well my best friend actually picked up on it after I did a small doodle of them - she shipped Brumsy but didn't really like Brainy as an individual character so near-instantly dropped it in favour of fixer-uppers. Her fanart then pulled me away from 'haha guilt ship!' to 'oh my god I love them so much I wanna chuck clumsystorm away'. Dropping HandyxMarina wasn't really an issue because I kind of figured they wouldn't be able to last forever anyway :c Dropping Clumsystorm was harder because I had NG for it (the twins) that I didn't want to chuck but was willing to. In the end the whole step-parent thing worked out so much better!

But that's more like, the actual backstory to introducing it into my AU XD As for the actual reasons, I think the dynamic they have across media is both hilarious and sweet, and the whole opposites thing they have going on is good inspo to me! I really like that the running joke of Clumsy wanting to help Handy is kept consistent even from the magic flute movie!

My personal fave which Kitty showed me, the french vers

And honestly that theme stands! With the exception of the other movies where Handy does frick all. It happens in the smurf village app too! Which isn't really canon media or anything I just think it's funny how they're still a secondary duo in that.

Clumsy just likes helping out <3 One of my fave lines is from the wishing tree one when he's getting rocks for a chimney and says 'Handy sure is gonna be proud of me!' that's so cute!! He's trying sdjfk

And you know what? He messes it up. Often. Like, all the time. But as Handy himself says, he keeps him employed! And fixing things is his job - tbh it doesn't really matter what these two do they're gonna be a constant presence in each other's life, so it's probably a good job they're friends. On that note, I've seen people say that Handy is mean to him but tbh I just .. don't agree. Objectively, I don't. Thing is, Clumsy annoys everyone, everyone is annoyed with him at times, Papa and Smurfette included. Handy only seems disproportionally upset with him because of how often Clumsy screws stuff up, and he only screws stuff up because Handy agrees to let him help out in the first place. One of my comfort eps being The Comet Is Coming for that very reason - they're gonna spend what they think is their last day alive together, that's not really the mark of two characters with hard feelings.

But wait! There's more! See, on that topic of niceness, unlike plenty of the others, Handy is a consistent apologiser.

He DOES own up to any unfair treatments. He DOES make sure Clumsy is ok and tries to make amends for situations where he was the one putting Clumsy in danger, as well as being grateful for favours in return, such as being saved from the monster.

And that might sound like simple decency but these are Smurfs, the little shits never apologise to each other /j. No but in all seriousness the dynamic is actually amongst some of the more well balanced of the characters, it's just not as easy to see collectively I suppose. And they have less than good moments, usually caused by mass hysteria (The Masked Pie Smurfer, The Golden Smurf Award etc) but that's not really something I can put a mark against since Clumsy arguably has even worse moments with Brainy, who he's supposed to have a better relationship with (The Comet Is Coming, The Smurfy Verdict). I think that kind of nullifies any they said/they did arguments, cause every character has bad moments.

And on that topic, as the shippER and not the characters, I have to approach things from an outside perspective as well as in inside one. Using Brumsy as my example because of it's obviousness. From a character point of view? Yah, it's practically canon in the og show lol. But from an outside viewer on the individual aspects well, I kind of see it where Brainy is someone that wants his ego stroked. Clumsy is happy to do so, but he's not really getting anything in return? Like objectively, they'd be happy together because Brainy would have a constant ego boost and Clumsy puts up with that but that makes me as an outsider feel bad for Clumsy. I love Brainy too but I think he needs his ego QUASHING not encouraging. Which is why I tend to prefer ships where Brainy has a bit more of a rivalry with them, I think if Brainy can actually learn to respect someone else by his own choice he's gonna be a much more well rounded individual. I want Clumsy to have someone that's not gonna try and use him and his never-dying loyalty to big themselves up. Handy fits the bill because Clumsy is, if anything, a detriment to him XD Again, that's an outsiders personal opinion looking in! It has no bearing on my actual views of Brumsy, which I think is cute and my friends draw cute fanart of it :)

Sooo yeah XD Some pretty basic thoughts, I just think they r neat!! Outside of my AU(s) I get so happy when they interact, even when it's not totally positive, though of course I always prefer those when they are- it's just a funky lil' rarepair for me, honestly I'm really really close to calling it my OTP at the moment haha

eleanor guthrie and buffy summers!

Eleanor Guthrie:

My three favorite things about them:

Her ambition. I feel like ambition is one of the main traits that often gets female characters unfairly hated by fandoms and Eleanor (and Max tbh) are definitely not exempted from that 💀 But it's a trait I really like in characters, especially women!

Her bravery. She's so brave. Going into a crowd of dangerous men with only a stick as a weapon to defend Max. Rescuing Abgail from Vane whom she knew was violent and didn't take well to being "betrayed". And then of course (even though I don't like to think about it 😭) her dying while defending Madi.

The way she wears her heart on her sleeve. I've never understood why it's such a popular interpretation to see Eleanor as manipulative because imo I don't think she has the skill. If I'm remembering correctly, I think we see her openly crying onscreen more often than both Max and Anne. And she's VERY bad at hiding her anger lol. But I liked the fact that she's often very openly emotional.

My three least favorite things about them:

Her taste in men :( Her taste in women seemed great though I wish we had gotten to see more of it

Some of her moments did kind of veer into white feminism. Like as much as I loved her "too many goddamn men" speech, her including Mr Scott in the list of men who tried to get in her way was not it.

The fact that she went from wearing those hot pirate outfits to those boring dresses 😤

My three favorite dynamics with them in it (romantic or platonic):

Eleanor/Flint: My favorite chaotic duo :( They're so similiar as people and I loved when they worked as a team because I think they truly understood each other. (But I also loved that even when they were on opposite sides, they never trash talked each other on a personal level.) Her truest father figure :(

Eleanor/Max: Loved these two. They were so angsty but also so so interesting. As much as I love Maxanne Maxanor would have served as a lovers to enemies to friends back to lovers endgame 💔 (And tbh sometimes I really do wish they had been endgame just because I'm bitter about the ambiguous ending Max and Anne got. Unlike most of the other main characters who were based on Treasure Island characters or historical figures, Eleanor and Max were completely original to Black Sails. The writers could have done anything they wanted with them. *sighs*)

Eleanor/Madi: Wish we had seen more of them tbh! But I love their scene right before the event we do not speak of happens.

My three favorite moments of theirs

Pretty much the entirety of 2x06. Her shooting a gun to break up Flint and Vane's fighting. Her rescuing Abigail from Vane. Her interactions with both Abigail and Flint. When Vane almost caught her and she locked the gate in his face. Just queen shit all around in that episode.

Her team up with Anne to save Max and her blackmailing Silver into helping them.

Buffy Summers:

My three favorite things about them:

Her heroism. (And her selflessness, even though it often makes me sad). She is always so ready to do what's right, even when it's hard. Her sacrificing herself to save Dawn and sacrificing Angel in order to save the world are two scenarios that come to mind.

Her bravery. She always goes head first into situations, even when she is scared.

She's just very kind and isn't a judgemental character. (To an extent, of course). She befriends Willow and Xander at the beginning of the series, who were underdogs at the high school. She stuck up for Cordelia on occasions, even back when Cordelia was being portrayed as "the mean girl". I can't really recall a time where she was outright nasty to someone for no reason and I always like that trait in characters.

My three least favorite things about them:

Her selflessness made me sad at points, especially in the later seasons when her friends started becoming assholes. There were multiple occasions where I wanted her to tell Xander and Willow to fuck off lmao

What Sp*ffy did to her character at times. I think one of the only times I ever outright disagreed with Buffy was when she sided with Spike over Giles and had no sympathy for Woods who just wanted to avenge his mother's murder. Sp*ffy should not have been a thing again after the attempted rape.

????? I can't really think of anything else I don't like about Buffy.

My three favorite dynamics with them in it (romantic or platonic):

Buffy/Dawn is like, the most important relationship on the show I think. I loved that Buffy's love for her didn't waver at all when she learned the truth and she continued to see her as her sister.

Buffy/Giles: Once again, I HATED what they did to this relationship in S7 just so they could prop up Spike 💀

Buffy/Faith: Everyone knew this relationship would be on my list it's my brand lol. The enemies to lovers that should have happened instead of Sp*ffy.

Honorable mention to Buffy/Tara, an underrated friendship that I wish we had gotten to see more of :(

I want Abby and Maggie to share more scenes. I think it’s kinda of an underrated duo. Abigael loves to get a rise of her but Maggie also has these little remarks that are so funny.

Macy and Abby always bicker like frenemies so I’d like to see more of them too. Same with Abby and Jordan, they could have a great friendship.

I love abimel but I also want Abby to have time with other characters, like Jordan is having more scenes with other characters than Maggie.

i really dislike the way charmed likes to structure their episodes ngl, the whole, let’s split into pairs thing. i feel like sure, once in a while. but this set up feels like 90% of the show lmao. and it feels limiting because they always split into pairs with the same people and i feel like it doesn’t allow us to see the other dynamics as much. for example, i doubt maggie and abigael would choose to work together, but say something happens and they’re stuck with each other. it’d be interesting to see how they’d work it out. and it’s a fun (non-)relationship to explore because their dynamic is unlike anyone else’s. it’s not romantic, it’s not familial, it’s not friendship either which is mostly what we see. that’s fun, that’s different. and i agree, i’d love to see more of the dynamic bet. everyone you listed. i’d also love to see more macy/mel, i feel like we can count the number of times they’ve been in a room alone together in one hand lmfao. i want jordan/mel too. but more than that, i want group stuff! imagine the chaos lmao.
