- Hunger Games AU where Nat is reaped but Misty volunteers for her. And then Nat has to watch the games from home and pray that her weird little stalker manages to survive and win (planning on this just being a really long one-shot. But we’ll see lmao)

- Age gap AU where 24 year old Nat still survived the wilderness but forty-two year old Misty was not in the crash. I’m going to actually attempt to write smut for this one

“You almost fell,” she says, taking her hands out of Misty’s hair now that it’s been fully rinsed. “What if you had landed on your broken arm or some shit?”

As she kind of expected, Misty immediately seems defensive. “It was only a minor slip and I stopped it from happening. I don’t see why you…”

“Maybe because I’ve been fucking worried about you. Ever thought of that?” Nat snaps before she can think better of it.

Misty gets into an accident at work and breaks her arm. She proves to be a terrible patient.

liking a female character who is a terrible person is always scary in terms of interacting with fandom because its almost always either "ouhh her life was so hard i feel so bad for her she didnt deserve any of that its not her fault shes so mean" or "oh my god shes such an annoying bitch i cant stand her"

It goes a lot better than any of them expected, for the most part.

something i really wish we’d seen from adult mistynat is them talking about the ‘transponder’, even if vaguely. you can infer a lot from how their adult dynamic plays out but it would’ve been nice to have something more concrete to stand on. especially with how in s2 Nat was wanting to talk about what happened out there more and there’s no way that keeping Misty’s secret didn’t weigh on Natalie in some way. it’s Nat, her ability to be guilt ridden is truly unmatched. it doesn’t even seem out of line that Nat would bring it up and ask her during that time. i understand why this didn’t happen, its television. it’s just frustrating to think that we could know more but all we have is what we can infer and Nat’s initial reaction of anger and blame.

I love what a paradox Misty is in Nat’s life.

Misty is symbolized as a beacon of hope for Nat in arguably one of her lowest moments in the wilderness…when she’s crying alone after the plan with Hannah fell through and it was looking very likely that they were going to have to go through another winter. BUT at the same time, Misty is the one who broke the transponder in the first place.

In the adult TL, Misty is Nat’s ride or die and is more helpful to her than probably any of the other Yellowjackets. (Like, I don’t think any of the others would’ve been as down to help with the Travis mystery as much as Misty was). She’s so helpful that it’s Nat’s idea to go to her for help when they’re dealing with covering up Shauna’s murder of Adam. BUT at the same time, she is a manipulative loose canon and Nat knows she can’t fully trust her with everything. (For good reason).

Misty will go to great lengths to protect Nat. She snorts her coke to prevent her from relapsing. And when Nat is kidnapped, Misty is the only one to try to track her down and figure out what happened to her. But in the end, she is (accidentally) the reason Nat dies.

It’s just so delicious and I am once again in disbelief that more of the fandom isn’t obsessed with this complicated dynamic like I am.
