I’ve just become an ordained minister through the Universal Life Church - it technically isn’t legally binding in the UK but I can now marry you guys (I would like this post to be stricken from the record in court, just in case).

"Rock Flock"
Tumblr media
A weird one as it is 1972 and The Archies consist of only the boys -- and it is not the imported artist going off model, as seen in that both Betty and Veronica fill their narrative roles out of the band. The details of the story's place in time and it's cultural references -- where Archie Comics is always working downstream from the zeitgeist -- indicate that the story was not from inventory out of pre- settled as 5 members Archies storage.
Tumblr media
This is Oregon governor Tom McCall taking advantage of the Vortex Rock Festival, rushing in to promote it in order to divert the restless angry youth away away from protests of Richard Nixon and the American Legion Convention, redirecting the Hippies away from the Yippies. But cases of "The Man" making on the fly decisions on just how to handle these crazy rock fests abound.

Cecil Andrus won his re-election bid, incidentally -- there in 1974. And I did not know MTV was around in 1972.

Satansplain #055 - Realm of Satan film, February 1, 2024
News on the new film “Realm of Satan”! Also, addressing false claims about serial killer Richard Ramirez and the Church of Satan (no, he was never a member, nor practiced what we believe), and answering listener questions about the Universal Life Church and Satanic weddings, membership privacy, and other topics.

ULC is so wild. What do you mean all it took was my name, age, and email address and now I'm an ordained minister? I get emails referring to me as Reverend. No Q&A, nothing.

okay YES but also what if crowley inspired the creator of the universal life church so that anyone who wanted to could be ordained?* just for the glee of messing with heaven? also, i love love love this because licenses and permits overlap a lot and thinking that i'm cackling again at crowley's "i have a permit" and aziraphale's reaction, and not long later (to someone who's already existed for an eternity+6000 years) aziraphale's "but i DO [have a license]!" *like me!
how many licenses do you think aziraphale has? hes got one for possession of a firearm, and made them give him a test so he could get one to drive a car. what else has he done in order get a silly little slip of paper that says he can do something cool with a Human Invention? like i know hes a literal angel of heaven but do you think hes ordained

I'm hitting the four year anniversary of when I became an Ordained Minister.
The ULC may be a legalized scam, but it's given me the opportunity to be a part of weddings in a way I never could before.
An adventure for a lifetime.

I got ordained online a decade ago on a lark. No real reason, just wanted to do it.
Today I'm marrying my brother in law's dad and stepmom two weeks after I married him to my baby sister. I've done Christian and atheist ceremonies for friends and family. I married my best friend of over 20 years, a woman my spouse and I share our oldest child with, to a pretty awesome guy who loves them both.
I got to preform an entirely custom hand fasting ritual for my brother and his wife in front of both families - it was so very pagan and my heart was so full.
I keep getting asked to marry people, and I know its mostly because "free fiddy" is much cheaper than hiring a traditionally ordained minister. Some of them just didnt want to bring someone else's God into it. Some just needed it done quickly for their own reasons. I love doing it, though. It brings me joy to help people come together like that.
We all know it's just a piece of paper filed away with the government. All of them know I didn't study to be able to do this. In the years I've been doing this though, I've made so many people happy, I've customized so many ceremonies, I've spoke in front of intimate groups and a couple large ones (something I never thought myself capable of.)
Today, I'm marrying a couple I have only met once, two weeks ago, but I've heard so much about them and I'm so excited for them to finally do this. These people helped make the man my baby sister adores, and I get to help bring them happiness.
All because I got a wild hair ten years ago to see what it would take to be able to legally marry people.

When negative self-talk comes up, think back to your child self and ask yourself if you could say those things to that child. Half of the time, the answer will be that you can’t do it. So why are you talking to your current self like that? Every version of you that has ever been and every version of you that ever will be are inside of you now. Don’t let your blinders keep you from seeing your light. We are all special in our own unique way, and we all deserve love and sympathy. That includes you.

Fun fact about me: due to circumstances, I am actually doubly ordained by The Universal Life Church. So if I were to gay marry any of y’all, it would count twice as much!

Ordained Or No?
So, this ad popped up on The Facebook. I have always wanted to do a wedding and ordination is necessary. However, it might be problematic for me with The Episcopal Church that I am very blessed to be a part of. I am not even sure how the logarithm fed me this ad. Weird.
