Ten Unemployment Benefit That Had Gone Way Too Far | unemployment benefit
If you're unemployed and don't know whether or not you're eligible for unemployment benefit payments, your best bet is to consult with your local state unemployment department. They will help you make a decision about which type of unemployment benefit is right for you.
The U.S. federal-state unemployment compensation program provides unemployment compensation to eligible workers when they are unemployed for no fault of their own through no fault whatsoever. Since unemployment law varies from state to state, it's important to contact your local state unemployment agency for eligibility and other disqualification rules in your particular state. These programs can be very complex, and if you're unsure about anything, speak to an experienced labor lawyer.
If you're currently looking for a temporary job loss and are worried about getting the right kind of unemployment benefits, you have a few choices. Some states offer a short term unemployment benefit called TANF. However, because this is an income supplement, it doesn't qualify under federal law as an unemployment benefit. Instead, you'll need to apply for and receive Social Security benefits.
Many states also offer some form of employment services programs which allow unemployed people to work in exchange for some of their income. Some of these work opportunities are better than others, but generally the services are designed to help people find and maintain stable employment by helping them create a plan to find and retain jobs.
Work and education training may be provided to unemployed people to improve job skills, develop a positive work attitude, or just to enhance the quality of life of an unemployed person. These programs are designed to help people in a variety of ways, and to help them avoid being unemployed for long periods of time. Work and education programs provide a unique and different benefit than any other form of unemployment benefit.
Benefits are typically paid to unemployed people within 30 days of becoming unemployed, as long as the state considers the individual to be eligible for receiving unemployment benefits. The requirements for receiving unemployment benefits vary widely by state, so it's important to contact your state's unemployment department to determine the requirements of your area.
To receive unemployment benefit payments, you must be able to provide financial proof that you are unable to earn money at your current job, that you are not eligible for SSI benefits and are not covered by any other forms of government or private benefits such as Medicaid or Medicare. in your state. You will be required to provide copies of all bank statements, pay stubs, utility bills and pay stubs from all of your jobs and possibly other personal records.
You should also submit income tax returns. Your employer will be able to provide this information on an annual basis. The state government will verify the data and send you a claim form.
When requesting unemployment benefits, you may also be eligible to receive disability insurance benefits if you have a medical condition or a medical problem that has caused you to be unable to work. This type of assistance may be available for an extended period of time, but will depend on how your condition is being handled by the state or federal government.
If you receive unemployment benefits, you will be required to submit a claim for disability insurance benefits to your insurance company. After submitting your claim, you'll usually be notified within six months of receiving a notice to pay the premiums or enroll in the program. The benefits may take time to be issued but are usually available within one to three years.
If you don't complete your claim with your insurance company, your coverage can be terminated. For most people, this isn't a big deal, since the money is often available to cover the premium and then some, but if you do not pay the benefits when they are due, you could be out of luck.

Donald Trump, GOP suggest temporary fix for $600 jobless benefit
Donald Trump, GOP suggest temporary fix for $600 jobless benefit
[ad_1]
The White House and some of its Republican allies in the Senate are signalling they want to extend, at least temporarily, a $600-per-week expanded jobless benefit that has helped keep families and the economy afloat during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The move looks to be too little, too late to prevent the lapse of the benefit officially on Friday.
Republicans have been fighting to trim back…

i get more per week as a student on the student allowance than what i do being unemployed and on the benefit. idk about u but i find that kinda fucked up. plus an extra thousand dollars per year of study for ‘course related costs’.
funny thing is my bf and i have gotten basically no benefit payments yet this year cuz we’ve been dumb asses missing appointments and shit. we only noticed this fact today, he was like ‘wait neither of us have gotten payments yet this year’ and i was like ‘true, yet it’s made no difference in the way we live, we’ve been making money out of thin air without a single stress in the world lol’ we’re still the ones that are most likely to have cigarettes on us etc, whereas all our friends have still been getting a few hundred a week to help them out and still end up being broke.
it also made me realise how insignificant the fact that my ex gf has been refusing to give back the bulk amount of all my clothes is, now that it’s a few months later. i have at least double the amount of clothes i lost, also just accumulating out of no where - checking out what’s left outside charity stores overnight is the best thing ever.
life is good right now

This study is a contribution to the debate around the creation of an unemployment insurance scheme for the EU/euro area by proposing an alternative mechanism to the Europeanisation of national insurance schemes. The authors make the case for a reinsurance mechanism and show that such a system delivers, for a small average contribution, large shock-absorption capacities.

Do 401(k) Withdrawals Affect Unemployment Benefits in Massachusetts?
Get the best Credit Tips at Credit Visionary
Massachusetts will cut unemployment benefits if you take a 401(k) withdrawal.
If you’ve actually lost your task in Massachusetts, the state offers a vital safety net with its unemployment insurance program. You’ve to get the program by satisfying eligibility guidelines, and continue searching for work. Only your made earnings is counted by the state. Money from 401(k) accounts doesn’t figure in the qualification guidelines, however can impact the amount of your recurring advantages.
Applying For Benefits
Massachusetts pays unemployment benefits without considering the condition of your 401(k) account. The advantage amount is a percentage of the earnings you made during the base year, not including your own contributions to the account. If your previous company set up a 401(k), you can continue making contributions to the account even after losing your job. If you close the account, it’ll not affect your qualification for Massachusetts unemployment benefits.
medianet_width='728'; medianet_height= '90'; medianet_crid='852914811';
Offsetting 401(k) Withdrawals
If you are jobless, you might’ve the ability to take withdrawals under the Internal Revenue Service guidelines from your 401(k) account to help pay for living costs. If you withdraw cash from your 401(k) while on unemployment, however, Massachusetts will subtract 50 percent of the withdrawal from your advantage. If you are taking routine monthly withdrawals, the state divides that amount by 4.3 to come to a regular amount you are receiving, then deducts 50 percent from the regular unemployment benefit.
Lump-Sum Distributions
If you close the 401(k) account and take a lump-sum circulation, Massachusetts will subtract a pro-rated quantity (again, at HALF of the overall withdrawal) with the remaining period of your unemployment qualification. If you’ve 10 weeks of unemployment staying, for example, the state applies the countered to 10 percent of the circulation amount. If you discover a task before all the lump-sum circulation has been balanced out, the state might declare an overpayment. You’ll need to reimburse the balance, either simultaneously or with an installment arrangement.
Eligibility
There are numerous requirements you’ve to fulfill prior to getting unemployment in Massachusetts. You’ve to have been fired or laid off, if you lost your job for cause, or simply quit, you cannot draw unemployment. You should can working, and accept search for a brand-new job. There’s an earning requirement too. You need to have earned a minimum of $3,500, or 30 times your weekly unemployment benefit, during a ‘base year,’ which runs prior to the date you apply for unemployment.

Fewest Americans in 7 years seek unemployment aid
Fewest Americans in 7 years seek unemployment aid
WASHINGTON — The number of people seeking U.S. unemployment benefits fell to the lowest level in seven years last week, a sign the job market is steadily improving.
The Labor Department says weekly unemployment benefit applications dropped 24,000 to 297,000, the fewest since May 12, 2007. The four week average, a less volatile measure, dipped 2,000 to 323,250.
Applications are a proxy…

The reason why I will never vote conservative..
Here’s the choice we give our young people today. Choice one: Work hard. Go to college. Get a job. Live at home. Save up for a flat. And as I’ve just said, that can feel like forever.
Or: Don’t get a job. Sign on. Don’t even need to produce a CV when you do sign on. Get housing benefit. Get a flat. And then don’t ever get a job or you’ll lose a load of housing benefit.
So this is what we’ve done.
Now you have to have to sign a contract that says: you do your bit and we’ll do ours. It requires you to have a real CV and it makes clear: you have to seek work and take work – or you will lose your benefit. And we’re going to look at ending automatic access to housing benefit for people under 25 too.
If hard-working young people have to live at home while they work and save, why should it be any different for those who don’t?
As someone that has worked hard, and is now living back with my parents, and currently on unemployment benefit I can assure you, this is not a choice.  I graduated this June and ever since, Ive spent pretty much every day applying for the most tedious and crappy jobs. Its not like I don't have any experience, Ive been working since I was 15, and before that I volunteered at a local riding stables so I could get free riding lessons. I have 9 A-C GCSE's including Maths, English Literature and English Language and I have a BTEC National Diploma (equivalent of A-levels) from college. I have a Degree in Textile Design and I know British Sign Language.  Yet I currently remain unemployed. Clearly David Cameron has never had to sign on.  It is easily one of the top 5 most humiliating and degrading experiences Ive ever had. You do not simply "get a flat". IF YOU DID I WOULDNT STILL BE LIVING AT HOME.  I am sure there are people who do try and milk the system and stay on benefits for as long as possible, however to tar all young people with the same brush is simply moronic and offensive.
The next evil: bureaucracy.
Sign on. Sign here. Come back in a fortnight. Repeat as required.  What does this do for the guy who’s been out of work for years, playing computer games all day, living out a fantasy because he hates real life?
ARE YOU SERIOUS? HAVE YOU EVER BEEN TO A DOLE OFFICE? I had to sign on today and it was fucking depressing. Each week your meant to see your personal advisor. Out of my 11 appointments, I have seen her once. It's also up to each individual advisor how often their claimant should go in. You have to go in a minimum of every 2 weeks to sign on, but I know loads of people who have to go in every day because they're not doing enough to get a job. And if you miss any 3 of your appointments, you loose your benefit claim for 6 months. NOT ONLY THAT, but after a certain amount of time, you get signed up for training courses that you have to attend even if their not relevant. (My brother went to Durham Uni studying accountancy and finance, and when he was on the dole they tried to sign him up for a GCSE level maths course. WHATS THE POINT IN THAT?)  This guy that your talking about is probably living a fantasy life playing computer games because hes sick of the bullshit you have to go through at the jobcenter.
You know our work experience programme, where we give young people the chance to work in a supermarket, a shop, an office?
Here’s what one union official said about it. I quote: “The scheme belongs back in the nineteenth century, along with Oliver Twist and the workhouse. It is nothing short of state sponsored slavery…”
Honestly. What an appalling, snobbish attitude to the idea of work. We’re not sending children up chimneys, we’re giving them a chance. What’s cruel isn’t asking something of people – it’s when we ask nothing of them.  No, your not 'sending children up chimneys', but you are exploiting young educated people into working for fuck all. Interning is shit beyond belief. You dont get payed, you rarely get your expenses covered, and your skills and hard work get exploited. I know this as someone who has done a load of placements. My friend works at a magazine, and she was saying that they often take on interns and work experience placements simply because they know that the people they are taking on dont have to be payed, and they have the skills and talent that can be exploited.   Its a joke. Ugh. Theres so much more bullshit. But Im too angry. On behalf of young unemployed people, fuck you David Cameron.
