#constant motion by dream theater is one of my favourite songs ever#especially in the prog rock sphere. not just because the song itself is a gem from one of their most underrated albums#but because of the status it holds in the rock band community (guitar hero made by the original guitar hero devs after they got kicked out)#rock band alongside harmonix's guitar hero games (1 and 2) are famous for having an incredibly tight window#for you to actually hit the notes. this means that doing shit that in other plastic instrument games would be easy as hell becomes impossib#le#so here comes motherfucking constant motion#a decently long dream theater song (6-8 minutes. i don't really remember) with a signature john petrucci solo#meaning technical as all hell#in rock band 1 (the most jank game of the 4 im pretty sure) as dlc#specifically. the part that makes the song go from relatively hard to absolutely fucking impossible is solo D#(that's how the section is called ingame)#which not only has fast as hell HOPOs (notes you don't have to strum for) with really fucking tight regular strum notes#but also requires you to transition quickly from strumming notes every couple of seconds in fast sweeping patterns to doing#descending triplets fast speeds (think of One by Metallica in guitar hero 3)#and it really doesn't look all that bad if you've seen/can do advanced clone/guitar hero play#but that timing window does NOT LET YOU FUCK UP#you have to be. SO ACCURATE TO HIT ANYTHING IN ANY OF THESE GAMES#beside this#the reason this song matters to me so much despite the fact i can't even dream of being able to play it well#is because dream theater is one of my favorite bands of all time and to see that despite my previous dissapointment given to me by the fact#that the one chance guitar hero had to make a DT song noteworthy and difficult by putting it in the same place that their last game#guitar hero 3#had put fucking THROUGH THE FIRE AND THE FLAMES#was wasted because they chose pull me under#which is a great song and their most well known but it's also stupid easy on plastic guitar#like. easy to the point where i can play it and i can't even play on expert yet#was completely negated thanks to constant motion being dlc for rock band 1 and being really fucking hard at that#made me so happy to a concerning degree. what is wrong with me#thank you harmonix

Ooooooh I love the Lizzie Borden chronicles so much
#one thing about a lifetime original series is that they’re gonna make that shit BONKERS#I’ve watched it enough that I legitimately can mouth every word#this show would honestly do numbers today it was ahead of it’s time#and the writing is pretty good for what it is#very witty#could’ve been taken in a totally corny direction but it just perfectly tips the scale towards a black comedy kind of camp#like it isn’t written as a comedy at all#but it’s also not written as overly serious. the main character is an incredibly likeable serial killer.#and instead of trying to reinterpret details from her actual life they just made shit up and I prefer it better that way#because a lot of Lizzie Borden media that deals with her post trial life is just so bad#but this production team said ‘let’s just have some fucking fun with it’#and you can tell Christina ricci is having a good time#this role was literally written for her#and it’s funny because it’s technically like part of a franchise#but it’s written and directed completely differently from the lifetime movie that preceded it#but the two are not incongruous#it’s just such an underrated gem#I’m gutted that there wasn’t a second season but it’s also clear that it was intended as a limited series and not an ongoing franchise#they wrote and concluded one seasons worth of story and that is that#the lizzie borden chronicles#tlbc

I really think people have lost all grip on what "underrated" "hidden gem" and "cult classic" mean. the fact that people make tiktoks and tweets listing "underrated" media that unironically includes TV shows like Fleabag, or Lost, or includes mainstream English language films that are major studio releases like Annihilation or Stardust or fucking Hereditary - insane! Terms like "underrated" used to mean that the film or TV show was overlooked or ignored by most critics and audiences. The term cult classic was specifically used to describe media overlooked by mainstream audiences but maintained small strong CULT-like followings. A show like Lost that's iconic and achieved permanent syndication is NOT underrated, nor is the multiple Emmy-award winning series Fleabag. Neither of them are underrated in anyway, yet I've seen them referred to as such SO MANY TIMES. it's crazy how terms like "underrated" "obscure" media etc has functionally come to mean: "media I personally didn't know about until recently."

Sorry but Secondo slayed SO hard with Infestissumam. It's such a banger album – no skips, 10/10, the opener kicks you in the guts and the transition to Per Aspera is insane. Everything else is like a fever dream, almost like you're sitting in the chapel during Black Mass and listening to sermons about the downfall of humanity and the coming of the Antichrist. He gave us some of the most iconic songs like Year Zero, Jigolo and Monstrance Clock as well as some underrated gems like Body and Blood, Secular Haze or Idolatrine. The Satanic imagery is so rich and compelling, but it's not taking itself too seriously at the same time. His voice is soft and a little subdued at times but strong and melodic in the right moments. I will never shut up about how fucking good this album is.

I am BEGGING all those disappointed OFMD, DBD and Kaos fans. Angry, smashing furniture, ever hungry and thirsting for more... Please, please, please seek out and watch 'In The Flesh.' It's such an underrated gem. I can't begin to describe how phenomenonal this show truly is. It's the kind of show Tumblr should be eating whole. And was giving us representation long before any of the above were even a twinkle in their writers, prefrontal cortex.
It has characters you will instantly fall in love with. I dare anyone to come away from this show not worshipping the undead feet of Amy Dyer. But most importantly it tackles some truly major issues. Using the zombie as a metaphor for 'despised, ostracized and endangered minorities', such as immigrants or the queer community etc. And it does it so fucking well.
Please give it a chance. I promise this is one show you will never regret giving your time and love to.
