You play as P-chan, Ame/KAngel's boyfriend and producer, while you try to help her achieve her goals of becoming an influencer and prevent her from killing herself or going insane along the way. This is a super underrated personal favorite I've posted about a few times before. It follows hikki-NEET gacha gamer Niiko, as she faces jealousy of her little sister for being farther in life than her as a high-schooler, the trauma of a particularly horrific job rejection keeping her from going outside or trying for another job, and being totally fed up with her life. It's a pretty depressing read for the first half, but becomes a realistic story about recovery by the end.

5. Wristcut Warriors: Menherachan

TW: suicide attempts, self-harm (duh), parental abuse, parental death, parental neglect, attempted sexual assault, mild gore, societal ableism/sanism

Much more popular in the menhera subculture than anywhere else, but still popular enough with landmine types to be included, and a personal comfort series of mine. This is a satire manga about three teenage magical girls who have to self-harm to transform, meant as an allegory for how suffering and self-sacrifice for the sake of upholding societal norms is seen as more noble in Japan than speaking out etc. It's pretty short with only 20 chapters and some supplemental material, and tons of merch collabs but due to Ezaki being the actual fucking worst i encourage you to only but fanmerch and second-hand.

6. Danganronpa

TW: murder, suicide, ableist depiction of DID, misgendering (kind of, im not getting into ******* discourse so ill put it jic), SA, addiction,and general violence and blood

I'm biased as a Danganronpa multi-kin and selfshipper but I personally think every jirai should play Danganronpa, read the supplemental materials and watch DR3 if they can. Quirky teens with mental issues locked in a school and forced to kill each other or themselves? Prime insanity and mindbreaking ensues, with some really cool characters coming out of the franchise. Despite the premise, theres a pretty hopeful message.

7. Oshi no Ko

TW: stalking, teen pregnancy, exploitation of minors, suicide attempts, murder, terminal illness, age gap relationships, bullying, abortion, parasocial relationships, and... sigh... pseudo-incest is apparently in the manga as well

If you are into idol anime and expect your standard cinderella story about passionate girls and guys hitting it big... Oshi no Ko isn't the idol anime you're used to. This doesn't even follow the hit idol herself- rather, her two children who are reincarnated fans. They have to find their way in the exploitative and often dark showbiz world while trying to solve their mother's murder.

8. Bocchi the Rock!

I only watched this one recently, but it's already an all-time fav. It follows agoraphobic and severly socially anxious Hitori (aka Bocchi), and her newfound friends as they do their best to become a successful local band! They make odd friends along the way and Bocchi starts to try to recover and better herself, with often comedic failures along the way.

9. TUYU's interconnected songs

I loved the anime, so I picked up the manga recently. I'm only a little ways in, but I want to complete it since the anime didn't cover it all! You don't even know the plot until the final seconds of the first episode, where it's revealed that Yuki is the only member of the squad who doesn't realize what's going on- she's not in school for class, she's living there for shelter in a zombie apocalypse. Oh, and she sees dead people. She has moments of clarity, and the story often follows other characters' memories and POVs, so you still get to have a clear look into what happened and what's going on for real.

They have a lot of depth and backstory that is beautiful and tragic. He also has amazing collab partners including Jozzer (who is a semi regular in one series) & DarlingStrawb. Different takes I have based on my interests and other miscellaneous things because I’m bored.

•Bill Cipher is never getting redeemed, ever, I adore his character but I can admit when my faves are horrible people. Oh and the way some people write the Handyman Bill au makes me REALLY uncomfortable as an abuse survivor. Why do some people write it like it’s the Pines family’s responsibility for Bill’s actions? Thats so fucked, especially with Ford (the ones where they basically shit talk Bill the entire time he’s at the Mystery Shack is funny as fuck though more of that please)

•The “Jax is an NPC” theory is boring and it would make him a lot less compelling as a character if that was the case

•You can still love Danganronpa and admit that the fanservice (ESPECIALLY the stuff with Mikan) is gross

•DNI lists will inevitably attract the people in those lists to harass and piss off whoever the account is and that’s why I don’t use them

•The original Monster flavour tastes like condensed piss and I will never understand the people who drink it when every other flavour soloes it by comparison

•The second half of the Death Note anime isn’t bad at all people were just too busy huffing on L copium to care, also, Mello was one of the best characters in the entire show

•Most of Killstar’s collaborations are terrible, the Monster High collection is one of the most disappointing things I’ve ever seen and it all looks so uninspired and bland (they saved themselves a bit with the second Gloomy Bear collab they did but most of the designs for their collabs are really tacky).

•Hear me outs are becoming incredibly sterilised, there’s a big difference between a hear me out and a character you find attractive

•Also, humans (both real and fictional) along with any Hellaverse characters do not count as hear me outs (to me anyway I’m not the hear me out police)

•Ultrakill will be seen as one of the greatest games of all time once it’s fully released, it is an absolute masterclass in immersion and presentation and the soundtrack is one of the best I’ve ever heard

•I like the DHMIS show a bit more than the web series

•Resellers need to be called out more, I’ll probably make a separate post talking about this more but it gets BAD. Not all of them are bad (especially on Vinted) but the overcharging in certain fandoms is insane (especially with Sanrio stuff it’s actually disgusting)

•Lloromannic have the potential to be some of the most popular Sanrio characters of all time but their potential goes nowhere

•Prima is one of the most misused Vocaloids of all time and it HURTS. When she’s used properly she sounds GORGEOUS but most people use her for pop stuff and she sounds awful there. Shes an OPERALOID, she’s meant for OPERA. Stop misusing her (I also don’t like any of her designs I’m sorry-)

•SeeU is also very underrated, Alone is one of my favourite Vocaloid songs it’s really vibey

•Monster High G3 is very overhated. There are still some designs I don’t like (Iris’ design hurts me, the character with the same body type as me gets the weakest outfit fuck 💀) but its representation is really good (Twyla not being shamed for needing headphones in loud spaces made me so happy)

•ROTTMNT’s version of Donatello is some of the best autism rep I’ve ever seen, I’ve never identified with an autistic character more than I have with him and the fact that the show’s in limbo makes me really upset

•Robo Fizz’ design > normal Fizz’ design

•I don’t care how many songs you give Stolas I will always see Octavia as the victim in that situation and the fact that the crew see her as a “cock block” pisses me off

•Phosphophyllite will go down as one of the greatest protagonists in recent memory, their story is heartbreaking and no one in that manga deserved a happy ending more than them

•Vinted is the best reseller app and it’s not even close

•I don’t care if Art The Clown never gets a backstory, he’s a silly little guy who kills people in horrific ways and I’m fine with that

•Making it a rule to not talk about certain fandoms on big Discord servers is fucking useless, an old autism server I was on went to shit when this happened, just ignore them and move on

•The addictive nature of Character AI needs to be talked about more, I’ve only began to realise how bad it is recently, it’s negatively affected my writing abilities, do NOT download it (especially if you’re mentally ill) you WILL get addicted to it and it isn’t fun. I’ve deleted it and I’m going to try to get into better habits, never again

• William Afton is an evil bastard and that’s okay, he never needed any redeemable traits and I really like that they’re making him do some Saturday morning cartoon level shit while also making him a threat (The Golden Bite in Into The Pit is as funny as it is horrific)

•I don’t care how many times the Fnaf games will try and gaslight me into seeing the Pinkypills Afton design as him, I will ALWAYS picture Matthew Lillard when thinking of this character (also I never want to see any Pinkypills or Ladyfiszi art in the games ever again they’re terrible people and they should’ve gotten fired years ago)

•Rage bait is the key factor in what made the internet a significantly more miserable place, start saying pizza with random fruit on is good again stop with the racist and misogynistic bullshit

•CaseOh being one of the most popular streamers right now brings me joy, in a time where so many male streamers are some of the most miserable and out of touch cunts in existence, having one of the most popular ones be a seemingly normal and chill guy is so refreshing

•I respect Illumination as a studio a lot more than others would think, in an age where horror stories are coming out surrounding every animation studio in existence, I have yet to hear one about Illumination. Do I like their movies? Not really (some of them are kind of fun and the Sing movies are guilty pleasures) but they seem a lot more ethical than other studios (also they’ve openly mocked AI that’s fucking awesome lmao)

•Murder Drones needed more episodes/time to explore certain ideas, that final episode felt like a SEASON finale, not a SERIES finale (no complaints about Cyn though I adore her)

•The art style change to Soul Eater to Soul Eater Not! Will go down as one of the biggest downgrades in history

amanda fagan made some of the very first songs for a few characters, most notably her ‘take you down’ for quackity, ‘bittersweet’ for jack manifold, and ‘promises you couldn’t keep’ for niki. i will be very blunt, i do not like how she writes wilbur, and i would not recommend her wilbur songs, but ‘take you down’ is still the best written quackity song out there, and ‘bittersweet’ is incredible. do check out her work.

kanaya is a name most people have heard before but i need you all to listen to a song that is not marionettes or violence because guys. guys my god. yeah ‘i’ll let it burn’ is alright whatever have you heard ‘november 16th’? have you heard ‘us against the world’? please. i love her work. she did a collab with precious jewel amor where she wrote tommy’s song and precious wrote tubbo’s, they’re both great. ‘little hero’ is gorgeous. if i don’t think about ‘no reprise’ it can’t hurt me.

kroh made the ranboo song of all time and i will forever be greatful for that. go listen to ‘typical me’, amazing song, ‘hush’ is cool too. oh yeah kroh also made ‘mr bones’. i guess. but who gives a shit about ‘mr bones’ when ‘typical me’ is so good, you have to believe me. ‘home’ is also really good and way more underrated than ‘typical me’ so you should listen to it as well, more even.

candlebard only made two dream smp songs. and one of them is a dream song. that i haven’t listened to. but i would be fucking wrong if i didn’t tell you about ‘disappear’. oh my god ‘disappear’. i could write essays on this song. i love it so much. it is the c!wilbur song of all time, nothing will ever get him like ‘disappear’. it has everything, seasonal metaphors, an empathetic perspective on wilbur’s fall into destruction, incredible music. that’s all you need to make me happy really. this song has less than 200k views and that’s a crime. go listen to it please.

cjack, like candlebard, only made two dream smp songs, and i have only listened to one of them, but i physically couldn’t not bring up ‘phantom feelings’. it’s so important to me. no ghostbur song is like ‘phantom feelings’ i’m telling you. go listen to it, every other ghostbur song will be ruined for you forever. you will never be able to appreciate ‘blue’ by derivakat again because you will know there is better. and you have heard it.

hatorbee is a musician i’ve literally never seen anybody talk about but i needed to bring them up because they’ve made? so many songs? and to be very frank with you, are they all great? no. like musically some of these songs are not the best, but fuck damnit they should write poetry. also they get these characters more than some songs that sound amazing so. you win some you lose some. ‘one more dance’ was a core part of my dsmp phase and also the only skephalo song i’ve ever heard and the only reason i gave a shit about them. the timing is weird, the vocal performance isn’t perfect and is mixed strangely, but you can feel the passion oozing out of it. they also made the only karlnapity song with precious jewel amor and winks, and it’s kind of incredible? i might cry? also lies in the letters is very good wilbur characterisation. i’m giving it a strong stamp of approval.

bonus: ‘the mad king wilbur’ was deleted in it’s original video form recently but the topic reupload and an animatic still exist. watch one of them, the song is incredible and gorgeous. also not fansongs but cyborg blood’s crimeboys animatics make me very emotional and you should watch them specifically their ‘by your hand’ wilbur animatic.

it's kinda hard for me to think of what to say about Flushed Away other than.... it's nice.

I mean, there's a lot to love about Flushed Away. There's plenty of solid jokes, there's Rita, there's the Toad and his wonderful Ian McKellen vocals, there's Spike and Whitey as the standout characters, hell I even like the dynamic between Rita and Roddy and how they're not explicitly paired up as a couple by the end. It's a perfectly solid, genuinely funny movie that didn't deserve to die the quiet death that it did....

....and yet it can't seem to hold my attention past the second act. I don't know, every time I sit down to watch this movie I find myself getting kinda disinterested around the halfway point and I can't really explain why. Because there's nothing particularly bad or boring around that mark, it just makes me go..... eh. Which sucks, because again, it's a good movie! IDK maybe it's just one of those weird me problems again. The movie overall is still an underrated gem, but to me it's still the least interesting of the Aardman collab trilogy.

also I see a lot of critics complaining about the animation but I personally don't really mind it! I think it actually looks nice! I like Aardman's style I think it translated really well into CG and it still manages to be really expressive and dynamic.

also I genuinely really like the slugs in this movie. I think they're cute and funny and I like their little musical numbers! I'm a genuine unironic fan of the Minions movies I seriously don't know what you were expecting me to say here.

The reason why MF DOOM is underrated

Daniel Dumile was a British and American rapper and music producer who is considered an underground hip hop icon, as he never achieved mainstream success.

He used to be part of the rap band called KMD, but unfortunately one of their members, his brother, passed away, and he decided to continue his solo career wearing a mask and creating an alter ego, MF DOOM, inspired by Marvel's supervillain Doctor Doom, as he wanted to become the musical industry enemy, attacking with his music, characterized by complex lyrics, obscure references, and unconventional beats.

He mostly mixed hip hop with jazz and moreover he added some samples and cartoons dialogs embedded in his songs that explained his plan to revolutionize the music industry and stories about his alter ego, MF DOOM. Nevertheless, he didn’t just have that character, as he used some other alter egos, such as King Geedorah, the hip hop beast, Viktor Vaughn, the rapper for the mass and Metalfingers, referring to his producer facet. He also has done many collabs with many artists, Gorillaz, Madlib, Quasimoto and the Wu-Tang Clan among others.

However Dumile used many metarhymes that complicated its comprehension. His intricate wordplay, dense references to comic books, cartoons, and obscure pop culture made his music difficult for casual listeners to access, because he acted as a powerful villain, always in the shadows, ready to transform the fixed guidelines of hip hop and musical production and industry.

His choice to stay true to his artistic vision and refusal of mainstream standards, coupled with his enigmatic persona, kept him from achieving widespread commercial success, but it also solidified his status as a legend in the underground and among hip-hop purists.

MF DOOM often worked with independent labels and avoided traditional music industry practices, and his avoidance of conventional song structures, such as hooks or choruses, made his music less radio-friendly, further limiting his mainstream appeal.

While he’s celebrated as a genius in the underground hip-hop community, his influence is more subtle and less recognized by the mainstream. His contributions to hip-hop aren’t widely acknowledged outside of dedicated circles, leading him to be criminally underrated.

Unfortunately DOOM’s death in 2020 brought him much of this recognition that came posthumously, reinforcing the idea that he was underrated during his life. I’d like to finish this article highlighting his first ever solo album Operation Doomsday, where he starts talking about his evil plan, his masterpieces Madvilliany and MM…FOOD, full of samples and audio extracts from vintage cartoons and advertising and Take Me To Your Leader, his only album as King Geedorah and my personal favorite.

The Devil of Christmas and Private View are so underrated and the best episodes of season 3

Viktor from Once Removed gives off homophobic gay vibes, like he claims to find gay people "weird" but only because he's heavily closeted

I also have this weird concept of Viktor and Lisgoe (TLOG) being cousins? I have no idea why that is, but the concept is there

How do people remember the names of every character Reece and Steve have played!? I can remember some (Len, Tommy, Hector, Varney, Tommo, Viktor, Carl, Stu, Chas, Joe, Warren, Clarke, Jim, Barnabus, Simon and I'm pretty sure one of them played someone called Greg) but for the rest I'm like "yeah, [x]'s character in [y]". How do y'all do it?

They should make an Inside No. 9 CD with a full version of Blue Jeans Baby, an extended version of Tears Of Laughter and a full version of Steve singing Shine by Take That. It could even include some of the covers from Empty Orchestra

For me, season 6 is the weakest but it's still good

You could point to any of Reece's characters and say "that's a homosexual" and I wouldn't be able to 100% disagree

The female actors working on Inside No. 9 are so underrated in the fandom, we've had the likes of Zoe Wanamaker, Maxine Peake and Nicola Walker just to name a few - I wish fans appreciated them more!

If this 9th season doesn't live up to my expectations I'm gonna feel so betrayed I can't lie. I'm sure it'll be amazing but... those guys better deliver

Sometimes I lowkey marvel at just how much Reece and Steve's work has influenced my screenwriting, like what would these things be had I never discovered Inside No. 9 and TLOG?

I wonder what Reece and Steve will do after season 9, will they collaborate on something again? Maybe not a TV series, but a film would be cool - not that I'm opposed to another TV series. I'm just hoping this isn't the last time they act/write together

Imagine if Charlie Brooker (writer for Black Mirror) collabed with Reece and Steve, that would be such a cool episode! Plus, a lot of actors that were in Black Mirror have been in Inside No. 9
