Hi, can I be called anon 🐍? (reference to Jamil being my favorite character) Now that the dorm songs are out in full version, what is your ranking of them? Personally, my favorite is Diasomnia's, I'm completely obsessed with Malleus' voice in the chorus, it feels like I've ascended. And the one that would be in last place would be Ignihyde's, it's not that I didn't like it, but among the others it's my least favorite.

To the first ask: Sure, 🐍 Anon it is ^^

I ranked the songs differently based on three different categories: how the song sounds to my ear, how much I like the lyrics, and how much I enjoyed the MV that came with the song. The category actually changes my opinion quite a lot in some cases!

Ranking (based on how the song sounds):

Savanaclaw's DIADEM - All the characters' vocals sound very different yet somehow when they overlap... they sound really cool! The chorus + the ending "whoa-oh-oh-oh" parts in particular are super catchy; I find myself randomly humming them throughout the day. I definitely get the sense that Jack and Ruggie are the less experienced singers, but that ironically fits both of their characters; it feels like they're underdogs trying their best to beat impossible odds... that they're here anyway to try just to support their dorm leader (whose VA is for sure the most experienced singer of the group). Leona sounds NOTHING like himself when he sings (which is fair, because it would be super hard to keep that deepness while singing) so :)) I can dissociate and lie to myself tell myself that I'm not stanning his song. By the way, massive shoutout to Jack's VA 😭 He apparently tried so hard to sing deep for this song that it caused vocal strain and bleeding ���

Scarabia's Far-Out - A lot is happening in this song, but I feel they all work well together. Jamil and Kalim's voices surprisingly harmonize amazingly and create a hypnotic melody despite how upbeat the actual music is. Another song where the chorus is very strong... Love the "La-la i-ya la-la i-ya ha" parts. It feels like everything is in constant motion (even when there are parts with no vocals) and I want to move along with them!

Ignihyde's Unparalleled Aeons - An almost metronome-like melody. Sounds like something you can really groove to. Chorus is great; I love the way certain words like "Cerberus", "Happy End", "Fever", "The End", etc. are uttered and how the chorus builds up to a soft (not loud) "Welcome to the Underworld".

Heartslabyul's Obedience - Instrumental is hype (it's probably the drums)!! Riddle is clearly the star here; the other vocals sort of blend together or sound alike to me (except for maybe Ace, only because his VA sings so sassily). Pretty much the only part that plays on repeat is the chorus.

Octavinelle's Entanglement - I appreciate the piano and brass but... SORRY, I JUST GENERALLY DON'T LIKE JAZZ. If it was just the instrumental, it would be fine but I don't like this genre with vocals. I like that Jade is very prominent in this song, but then that creates an issue where he and Azul are so much stronger here than Floyd is. In some parts, I feel like Floyd is almost completely drowned out by the music.

Pomefiore's La Volonté - I feel the singing starts up really abruptly??? Best parts of the song are the solos. When the Pomefiore boys' voices combine, they sound a little too harsh to my ears. Not sure if I like how their words are pulled out/extended in the chorus either. Songs ends on a good note (the "La-la-la-la-la").

Diasomnia's Capricious Calamity - Similar to Heartslabyul's Obedience, the dorm leader is the star of the show and has the most prominent voice. You can really feel Malleus's VA (I believe he has formal opera training) showing off his chops. I really liked Silver and Sebek's solo parts. However, I just don't like the overall vibes of this song. The haunting chanting in the background, the strong reverb, the grim instrumental, the dark tone of the singing... It's all a bit too much. I personally prefer more energetic songs, not ones that remind me of a cult initiation ceremony.

Ranking (based on the lyrics):

Scarabia's Far-Out - Holy... where do I even begin??? These are by far the most descriptive and lush lyrics of the bunch. They come out strong in the beginning talking about how the rays of the sun sting, how particles of scalding sands hit their skin, temptation in lotus flowers, the intoxicating feeling of thirst, etc. At one point, they also list off key characters from the film (the sultan, royal vizier, thief/street rat, princess, genie, monkey). AND THEN IN COMES THE CHORUS talking about an endless oasis, riches that never dry up, the "golden darkness"???? HELLO???????

Diasomnia's Capricious Calamity - Also extremely poetic, but in a more ominous way than Scarabia's song. A pure black starless night, ravishing green light, a sky the color of shadow, spreading thorns, a deep slumber, an aurora swallowed... Sooo many good phrases here, I felt like I was listening to a group of bards telling an ancient folktale. Bonus points to this song for using language so archaic that even native Japanese speakers struggled to understand what the heck was even being sung.

Pomefiore's La Volonté - Surprisingly less detailed lyrics than Scarabia and Diasomnia, but they still have a few notable phrases like "waltzing upon the white snow", the worth of a star, a heart hidden in a box, and, of course, the iconic apple dripping with poison. Not as much a fan of the parts where the singer is centered and they express their personal goals.

Ignihyde's Unparalleled Aeons - This is the song I jokingly call "shittalking central" because I swear that half the lyrics or more is just angry gamer internet lingo. Even with all the taunting, I think there's a charm to the lyrics. I especially love how they make constant references to Greek mythology, especially the Fates (they mention past, present, and future, as well as cutting threads).

Octavinelle's Entanglement - Sometimes these feel less like lyrics and more like Azul and the Tweels giving you explicit directions to just sign the darn contract already sometimes. Some lines are literally just them threatening you about the consequences if you break the terms of the agreement. I do like the poetic parts (where they sing about the heart swaying left and right + the future dissipating into seafoam) though.

Heartslabyul's Obedience - Most of the lyrics are just the characters reciting rules, talking about tasks they have to do, or how they can't step out of line or break rules. There’s some strange fragments too???? Like the part where Ace sings about lemonade that’s not sweetened with honey but then never continues to complete the rule; he just states “LEMONADE WITHOUT HONEY” and nothing else 😭 My guy, that is NOT a real statement??? The chorus is the most memorable part, as it focuses on the beauty of roses that have been painted red. Not much character in the rest of the lyrics.

Savanaclaw's DIADEM - This song is mostly about the actions the group will take to reach the top and less about pretty descriptions. While I think that this matches the spirit of their dorm and the characters themselves, I'm not personally a fan of these kind of lyrics.

Ranking (based on MVs' visuals and effects):

Scarabia's Far-Out - Maybe not the best MV for those that get motion sickness easily because WOW, there is constant movement here, even if it is very slight (clouds moving in the background, flower petals scattering, flag flapping, ornate patterns spinning, silhouettes panning, letters flying, etc.). I loved it though! There was also so much opulence in this MV??? Golden snake scepter, golden coins, golden magic lamp, golden sunshine, golden sand, golden scarabs, golden hourglass... All incorporated so well and timed perfectly with the lyrics. So many film references too?? I spotted Iago's feather, the big red gem that Abu touched in the Cave of Wonders, and so many more. I think the best part was that Kalim and Jamil were framed so perfectly, particularly the shots where Jamil was positioned behind Kalim (Jamil in the dark, Kalim in the light) WITH THEIR EYES GLOWING RED, alluding to how Jamil controlled Kalim with Snake Whisper/Charmer from the shadows. This is PEAK MV.

Octavinelle's Entanglement - This one was just really elegant! The solo parts' backgrounds remind me of a fancy hotel or a well-organized scrapbook. The bubbles + underwater effect with fish swimming over the Octa boys was so cool. Like Scarabia's MV, this one had many references to their film, such as Azul being bathed in green while the sun sets in the background (illustrating the conditions for Ursula's deal with Ariel), the fireworks in the sky (like the ones going off when Ariel saw Eric for the first time), King Triton's crown and trident sinking into the depths, the iconic golden contracts, the ingredient bottles (Ursula's), the cauldron and fish skeleton pen (also Ursula's)... Azul's vault (the steering wheel of a ship) also features. So many details! This is another MV where the flowing eyes make sense; the twins' golden eyes glow in the dark, and both of Azul's do as well (since he also lives deep in the waters). It creates a neat and symmetrical look when they pose together.

Diasomnia's Capricious Calamity - One word: ATMOSPHERE. This MV has tons of it. The way the camera pulls in and out of a tangle of tree branches and briar makes you feel like you're adventuring into a decrepit castle. There's many interesting things done with light and shadows to grant an excellent illusion of depth. Definitely gives an intimidating vibe when the moon drowns out everything but the Diasomnia boys' eyes. The green light from above makes me feel like some otherworldly eldritch being is descending. The best part of the MV is the middle which shows the same green light Maleficent used to lure Aurora to a spinning wheel. Again, very atmospheric and this is further enhanced by the choir in the background building up to the sinister shine of the spindle. I feel like I'm watching a horror story or a gothic fairy tale unfold.

Savanaclaw's DIADEM - This one has a really unique look to it! The ripped paper effect and the way the graphics fall into place kind of gives it the look of a grungy collage. I love how the Savanaclaw boys are often backlit by the sun; it makes them look really imposing and cool! There's fewer film references here (the moon _ hyena march from Be Prepared, Pride Rock) but it works just fine. I appreciate the focus on nature here, there's a lot of shots of real-life animals or just the savanna setting. I will say that the giraffes made me laugh because they seemed like an odd choice to include??? It's an herbivore moving slowly through the frame, it feels out of place in a rock song. Another part that I didn't necessarily love was when the camera zoomed in on each of the Savanaclaw boys' faces... It was so fast that I thought that they were going to smack into an invisible wall or something.

Pomefiore's La Volonté - This has a lot of imagery I expected of Pomefiore--painting frames, mirrors, apples, poison bottles, etc. Oddly feels very minimalistic and not too showy compared to the other MVs. I think this works well for what it seems to be conveying (how lonely it is at the top, indicated by the spotlights for the solo parts). The multitude of hands reaching for the single star is a very strong visual. Snow effect was so subtle I would not have known it was snow, had the lyrics not clued me in on it. Vulture was a strange choice to include; I feel it should have been a raven or crow instead since that’s more iconic. The best parts (mirror cracking, pages in potion book turning, curtains closing shut) were scarcely used and I wished they were scattered more throughout the MV instead of clustered in one spot.

Ignihyde's Unparalleled Aeons - This felt like an Ignihyde MV and not an Ignihyde and Hercules MV, unlike the MVs that ranked higher than this. I like the shift from blue to red lights + flames in some parts to indicate seriousness or danger, but most everything else felt like excessive neon lighting like what you’d see in a crowd armed with glowsticks at a concert. The gate to the Underworld opening and the pool of souls was cool but the other key visuals (S.T.Y.X. logo, turning gears, cutting a thread of life, etc.) felt like they were hurriedly pasted into the background to remind us this is, in fact, not just another Vocaloid hit—remember the Shrouds are here too. Visuals (especially the artwork of Idia and Ortho) felt weirdly static.

Heartslabyul's Obedience - As an avid Alice in Wonderland lover, I have to say that I'm disappointed at how generic the Heartslabyul MV was. It didn't look bad or anything?? I was just expecting a lot more than the generic AiW motifs (checkerboard pattern, card suits, raining cards, table for tea, etc.). This one especially stands out (in a bad way) to me because the other MVs made an effort to make the visuals unique to the identity of the dorm (like the S.T.Y.X. symbol in Ignihyde's) or make reference to their respective film, but this one did not.

I really love all the headcanons of Gi-hun having kids with his harem, so I thought I'd share my own. (This is for just his main one because that poor body is gonna give if he would push babies out for every single person who has ever been inside him!)

I think they would take a DNA test to figure out which child belongs to whom?

So, like, he has a kid with In-ho, one with Jun-ho, one with Sang-woo, and one with the Salesman. (One of each so the dads can spoil their kid!) And each child is the spitting image of their dad, and while they inherit some of their fathers' personality traits, they all have Gi-hun's warmth, empathy, and deep desire to help others.

Plus, I imagine that while their respective dads barely get along, the kids are really close and are protective of each other.

They're also the type of kids that seem to always get in trouble, not the kind bad kids get into, but the kind where trying to find a lost cat's owner leads to shenanigans. They also adore their big sister Gayeong!!!! As well as all their other pseudo siblings!!!

heyyyy so in response to your post about an olympics icemav au... i'm having crazy brainworms about an idea & i need to tell someone before i explode. Steve Nedoroscik on the u.s. men's gymnastics team gives me the same vibes as Bob, so i'm imagining an olympics au wherein IceMav run the men's gymnastics program as coaches, and the daggers are on the teams. Ice & Mav back in the day dominated in gymnastics & so really just competed against each other each time. now they are bickering husbands helping run a killer program (& have their pommelhorse secret weapon Bob). Cyclone, Warlock, & Hondo coach with them, with Penny head doctor. Phoenix, Halo, & Amelia from the women's team pester the boys all the time. IceMav take Payback, Fanboy, Hangman, Rooster & Bob to the olympics & medal! so. yeah that's the idea. this isn't really a request, i just needed to tell someone & your asks are open 😭 but you can use any of this if you want

i don’t want to take over your idea, but here are a few hc’s that i picture for this scenario bc as soon as i read this my brain went oh wow:

icemav’s background:

- ice is the eldest son of immigrants from the ussr, and his father pushes him everyday to be the best gymnast he can be. he trains daily, only enters the best training gyms, and works under some of the best coaches money can afford.

- ice is 17 when the 1976 olympics roll around, and everyone expects he’s going to dominate on the international stage. what they don’t expect, however, is for tom to announce at family dinner that he’s chosen to represent the united states at the games rather than his parent’s beloved ussr.

- after the shockwave announcement, ice’s dad doesn’t speak to him for weeks, and he spends countless nights second guessing his decision. sure, he understands why his parents are upset, but they literally immigrated to this country so he could be american. this is his home, it’s the place that’s made him, and he wouldn’t want to compete for any other country.

- it’s not until after the games, when he has 3 gold medals around his neck and a hand to hold tightly in his own, that he knows for certain he made the right choice.

- mav, in contrast, has a complete underdog story. it’s almost storybook: growing up without a father, scrapping his way in shitty gyms and abusive coaches, and coming out the other side as the best damn gymnast anyone west of the mississippi had ever seen. when he makes the 76 olympic team, he’s cocky and brash and is absolutely not ready for the unmovable force that is tom kazansky to enter his life.

- at first ice and mav don’t get along - ice is too focused on the competition and mav is too focused on trying to outperform ice. the tension grows for a few weeks after they both qualify for the team. it all changes when goose falls from the high bar in practice and breaks his wrist. with their best teammate out, the boys have to come together to do their best and keep up team morale.

- of course they both do amazing and walk away champions!!!! i’m imagining team gold, all-around ice gold and mav silver, ice high bar gold, and mav pommel horse gold. they start a new era for men’s gymnastics, absolutely dominating the competition and looking cool as fuck doing it. little boys sign up for gymnastics classes because they wanna be like maverick, and ice’s wheaties box takes up space on kitchen tables all around america.

the team now:

- ice doesn’t have any noticeable accent in his day-to-day life, but sometimes he starts to speak in russian when he’s nervous or pissed off. hence the murmured repetitions of xуй and Пиздец when hangman gets a little too sassy or bob clips his hand and falls off the horse.

- the daggers complain a lot about mav’s strict training routines and insanely high expectations, and one day mav can’t take anymore. without a word, he takes his whistle off, slips out of his shoes, and proceeds to perform an almost perfect pommel horse routine. the boys stand in awe as he swings around, his body in complete control despite it being 30+ years since he’s competed professionally. when it’s over the daggers start apologizing profusely, and ice just laughs and rolls his eyes at the absolute mad man he’s been in love with since he was 17.

- obviously there has to be some angst regarding bradley’s entry into the sport and the legacy he feels he carries on his shoulders. like yeah, he’s not a nepo baby, but he’s also not not a nepo baby. i mean, the two head coaches of the men’s olympic team are his godparents, for god sake. maybe mav tries to keep him out, thinking of goose’s lost dreams and all of their long term injuries. maybe he pushes him to do something else with his life, constantly saying things like maybe you could be a pilot or something, baby goose. of course, it doesn’t work. in the end, mav cries as bradley steps up on the olympic podium with the medal around his neck, thinking, not for the first time, how lucky he was to have met nick bradshaw all those years ago.

- penny being a social butterfly outside the gym but taking absolutely no shit as soon as she steps onto the floor. she has no problem asking the hard questions, and will not hesitate to defend an athlete with her life. she helps lead the movement to include mental health as part of the wellness checks for athletes, and doesn’t respond kindly to anyone who blows off her recommendations. everyone is slightly scared of her, but she’s only stern because she loves the athletes to death.

- amelia is known for always checking in on everyone and makes sure both the men’s and women’s teams are feeling their best physically and mentally bc of her mom’s occupation. she’s always willing to listen or offer up advice for those who need it. she’s definitely the little sister of the group and they’re all unbelievably protective of her and her huge heart.

- jake gives bob a lot of shit when they first meet because he doesn’t look anything like a gymnast. he’s got these huge glasses and he’s super lean and jake can’t help but tease him for it. it all changes when he finally sees bob on the horse, though, moving with more grace than he’s seen anyone move before. by the time the olympics roll around, jake is his biggest supporter, cheering so loudly from the side that even the people in the rafters can hear him.

i don’t really know anything about gymnastics, so don’t hate me if things are incorrect/inaccurate. thanks again for sharing this idea. hope y’all enjoyed and thanks for reading!!!

1. Finral

Already talked about him in depth so I’ll let everyone else shine here lol

2. Magna

The manliest man. The actual best underdog character in Shonen. Like Tabata knew what he was doing during the Heart kingdom training arc. (Vague manga spoilers for spade arc) Having to work insanely hard to catch up to everyone when they can do something you can’t and finding a way to accomplish something no one else can do????? That’s such a real experience and he’s so admirable.

The literal best friend you could have in this world. He’s so silly and supportive and awesome. Design wise one of my fav character designs ever he’s so sick. I should probably make a solo post about him too cuz I could go deep into his character.

3. Rill

THE ARTIST’S BEST FRIEND!!!! I heart him so much and the approach to his upbringing was so beautiful. His destruction circling around a lack of direction and inspiration for his work is so insanely relatable. And just seeing him be so carefree and happy in battle creating art 😭 I wanna be him.

Winner for the Clover Kingdom’s best laugh. Cutest character design he is so fluffy and pastel. I want to see more of his magic it’s made some of the best battle scenes in the show with just how much freedom there is with its imagery.

He’s so baby I just love him. Also shout out to him for changing the squad name for azure deer from gray deer. I can’t remember if it was explicitly stated but I KNOW that he did that.

4. Asta

The boy of the hour. Honorary spot at #1 because he is the one of the most successfully written Shonen protagonists of his archetype. Really love taking the going for the top motivation and giving a depth to it outside of personal ambition and having the concentration be on changing the world for the better. The purest soul.

Asta is so important. He not only motivates and inspires EVERY. SINGLE. CHARACTER. within the story. But also inspires so many people irl. Like i literally think “would this make Asta proud” when I do stuff sometimes JSJDHDDHHD and it motivates me to get through rough times.

He’s a cutie patootie and he breaks all expectations for what characters would typically do when faced with conflicts like he is. He truly is one of a kind and brings out the best in everyone.

I absolutely love the aspect of his character where he’s literally everyone’s lil brother. He just cares and trusts everyone on his team and fights for them SIMPLY because they are teammates no questions asked. Every time I rewatch the series I just admire the effect he has on their world and how it spreads one step at a time with each adventure. So many things wouldn’t have been possible without him being himself in situations and setting people straight in understanding their world. (This fact stands true even if not considering the anti magic as a factor. It’s all him baby.)

5. Langris

UGHHHHH I could write another essay but I shan’t. He is such a wonderfully complex character who has been so forcefully shaped into a figurehead of a group that represents strength, giving him such a terrible egotistical, yet self loathing view of himself. And despite all of it he genuinely wants to love and be loved outside of those factors. He’s just a very confused kid who needs genuine support instead of ego-feeding elitist parents HDHDHDH.

I’m very passionate about him. And I am SO PROUD of his character development through the story. Especially with his relationship with Finral. (I will for sure write a whole separate essay discussing them sometime soon). He was written so well both in his antagonistic position which in my eyes was very much mostly out of his control (not completely he’s not totally excused ✋🏻). Seeing him make genuine effort to change his outlook and behavior to rebuild a healthy sibling relationship, to support his brother and motivate him to improve himself as well, AND to remove himself from a position of high status when he knows he’s no longer the one suited for it really just proves how much he has grown. His complexity in his character just makes him so interesting and I want to see him and Finral team up more please I beg there was not enough. HAHSHSHS

6. Luck

I always loved Luck’s story and the exploration on his ability to express his emotions as time goes on is so good. Like the elf battle always makes me SOB he’s so good. I genuinely am obsessed with his friendship with Magna they are the best duo ever. He’s such a lil weirdo and his antics are just so perfectly lil brother energy to the rest of the squad. I will say Tabata had PEAK WRITING with his unwavering fear in battle that made the perfect set up for the seriousness of the Spade arc when they show him not wanting to fight ABSOLUTELY beautiful setup and reward right there. He’s a baby boy who doesn’t need to be protected but I want to anyways.

7. Klaus

OUR 👏🏻 KING 👏🏻 OF 👏🏻 CHARACTER 👏🏻 GROWTH👏🏻! Literally perfection how this man goes from prickly noble to Asta and Yuno’s number 1 fan. He has the perfect older brother energy and really became just an absolute sweetheart. I adore his support for Asta so much it always makes me laugh when they pan to him doing some weird stuff in hopes that it helps him out.

His magic is also so cool and damn I wish Tabata would give him some more badass spells because he could do SO MUCH. Give him a suit of magic armor mayhaps idk but it’s such a fun magic for him. Also design wise I love his hair and his features are just so pleasing. ESPECIALLY during the elf arc my god he looked like a model. I just think he’s very pretty HDHXHDHD. BUT YES an absolute king and deserves all the love.

8. Mars

Oooooo we need more of him in the manga. I swear the coolest dudes are underutilized this man is so sick. I love Mars’ story and I’m so glad that he reocurred in the story the way he did. He was really the perfect set up for the diamond kingdom being in the plot at all. But he himself. AN ABSOLUTE SWEETHEART he’s so good. He and Fana are precious together and I really admire his strength and commitment to his goals throughout his whole story. He had some of the coolest magic and I desperately need a Mars and Asta team up with their massive swords.

One of the best character designs from silhouette, outfit, colors and all. He is very handsome and just a cool dude overall. Y’all need to make more fan art of him I don’t see enough. I’ll make some too I promise.

9. Leopold

The king of not being in the story enough. For REAL he is so powerful and cool and he’s one of Asta’s rivals too I NEED a triple team up of him asta and yuno it would be FIRE absolute pun intended hehe

I love how straightforward he is, he’s so motivated and such a strong mage. I hope he gets to lead the crimson lions one day he absolutely deserves the position. He is the best friend of best friends. Being supportive of Asta from the start and being one of the least “noble” of all the other squads immediately solidified him as a favorite to me. And he just continued to kick butt and be a cool lad. His power is fun and I desperately wanna see him make full blown fire tornadoes NSHXHDH it would be SICK. but yeAH he is such an awesome character and a perfect rival and I think he deserves more screen time. I will for sure be drawing him again soon.

10. Yami

That’s our DAD 🫵🏻

God I will say this with all the confidence in the world he is the BEST WRITTEN DANG TEAM LEADER in Shonen. Like Tabata really said let this silly goofy man rescue all of these outcasts and be their dad and help them grow and I cannot handle any moment from any character without thinking about Yami’s influence. HE HAS DONE SO MUCH FOR EVERYONE.

The smartest idea ever translated from brain to paper was making this man a walking poop joke. LIKE INGENIOUS. I always find it funny and I always will. Make this absolute badass a true dad. He poop and he make bad joke. Honestly the funniest character.

His story from what I’ve gotten to is so interesting. It was so worth the wait to get to see more about him but even so his story just in the clover kingdom is so wonderful. I love how he really sets up the themes Asta stands for before he even gets to the squad. Where all of the change in the kingdom that happens wouldn’t have been done without him (a foreigner) and his whole team of unloved and unwanted individuals who were seen as worthless. Literally showing the world how wrong they are. Yami is best dad and he always will be.

Special shout out to William, Vanessa, and Gordon they deserve to be up here. Also David cuz I think he’s pretty and I love his magic but he is SO background character it hurts.

In the end I would have loved to talk about more of them but It’s hard picking favorites with this show. Literally everyone is written so well and I love them.

ok yall heres my thoughts for a potential olympics au.

price boxes. 100 percent. no clue why but he just has the Vibes. it’s definitely not his first olympics. he’s getting close to retiring from the olympics (which no is not an old man joke, they genuinely just have a very small age window to be like in their prime to compete. simone biles is 27 and she’s considered on the older side for olympic athletes).

gaz does gymnastics. look at him man he just looks like a gymnast. it’s his first olympics and while he’s not really an underdog he’s not very well known. he is however definitely getting the stephen nedoroscik treatment (immediately becoming the country’s sweetheart, having tons of fan edits, etc).

soap plays soccer (IT’S CALLED SOCCER 🦅🦅🇺🇸🇺🇸) as a goalie and again, scotland’s sweetheart. they eat him UP. i mean look at him why wouldn’t they. he and gaz become immediate friends in the village and post online together. they make jokes on tiktok about getting freaky on the cardboard beds (ilona maher and nicole heavirland style) and no one ever shuts up about it. he’s new to the olympics as well.

ghost plays rugby because he’s massive and angry. i feel like this is his second olympics and he’s lowkey still mad his team lost last time but he’s pretending not to be 😭 he doesnt participate much in the dicking around, but since he, price, and gaz are all team england he gets spotted in some of the online shenanigans (can u tell i pay more attention to the athletes goofing off online than the actual games)

farah i feel does beach volleyball. shes tall (5’8” which is crazy because she looks SHORT next to some of the other characters) so good for volleyball, and i’d imagine urzikstan’s team would unfortunately be pretty small considering. yk. so they might only have enough athletes for beach volleyball since it only requires 2 players. im imagining this to be set in a world where farah wasn’t leading the ulf but the occupation and stuff still happened, but it’s over and urzikstan is slowly healing again. throughout the competition farah is very vocal about her pride for her country and she talks about her brother and parents, and says that she’s competing in honor of them. she also becomes one of those athletes that everyone roots for no matter where theyre from, simply because of a) how good she is, and b) the way she speaks about her family and her country, and how emotional it makes people.

Just a friendly reminder, I am still currently playing the campaign, so some things may be incorrect But I wanted to get this one out in the open, This will be personal headcanons of my interpretation of Logan so far.

When you first met Logan, It was when you managed to finally scurry your way out of no man's land, surprisingly alive.

Being brought back to Elias, He decided to give you a chance and have you join the ghosts alongside him, Keegan, Hesh and Merrick.

Logan warmed up to you pretty quickly.

In my head I kind of see him as Johnny in a way, Always tries to find the good in everything.

It was evident how big his heart was when on missions, He noticed how small you felt originally.

While sure you can fight, Keegan and Merrick would shut you down immediately, Hesh constantly kept to himself.

It was a built-up frustration, when you headed back to base, ripping the mask off.

Giving a moment to calm you down, He gently went inside your room and sat down next to you.

"I know what it feels like y/n... To be the underdog initially. They don't mean to be that way... They're just a little stressed about trying not to die" He chuckled softly and patted your back. "But remember I got your back ok ??"

You nodded and started to smile "Ok..."

Turns out, you two had a lot in common.

Before the attack from the federation in San Diego, Logan loved to play video games.

And one day when you two were out on a mission, You began to walk back to base.

But there was something on the path inside a house that Logan missed, He saw a box seemingly undestroyed after the attack.

"Logan, come on we gotta head back to base" You noticed him stop and inspect the box.

Anyways... seriously y'all. I started publicly sharing B/V stuff in March. I'm just a girly from Boston who is obsessed with ice dance and the athletic, emotional moments it creates. I also enjoy its connection to art. Their 2023 FD reminds me so much of the above painting. I like to post comparisons and Kiki with the girls. Ice dance slays so hard bc I've never seen anything like it before! I really earnestly just enjoy all of the mechanics.

The dedication, the performance. Y'all caught me vicariously living, babes! We all wish we could've been something like a ballerina or an ice skater. Seeing Bella skate, inspires me to do the things that little me dreamed of. Still! Which I enjoy just as equally. Because everyone seems so grumpy all the time and I love having something to cheer for and believe in. I've competed for 2 bike races since following Bella. Because I'm rooting for someone who does cool stuff and think, wait I can do cool stuff too. And the duo for sure inspires me to paint and write and listen to good music and all that other important stuff. Like a good tv show or my favorite book would.

But this is my crutch, y'all. These are very real people. Celebrity and influencer culture makes us depersonalize the figures sharing their lives. I can def see how I get lost in the delulu of their skating story, and Bella's underdog lore (which is mainly why I'm here y'all). I know it's still a risk that skaters can see this post, but I just wanna yap to no one about how weird the modern world is. And I think Tumblr is probably the most private place out of all socials to yap anyways.

So, my point. I feel weird! I feel so weird making edits and talking about how inspired I am by these strangers, especially when the inspiring strangers can see😭. Bella follows my insta account (as well as a bunch of others) bc she's a cool and connective girl broooo like Bella pls don't unfollow girly I'm just saying I don't wanna freak anyone out 😭🫶. Cause I couldn't imagine all these people being so focused on my life and what I do, it might stress me out bad yall.

I know I'm delulu, but more so I'm sensitive. That's why I like this sport. And I like to chit chat!!! Combined with this hyper digital, often fantasy focused world we live in (movies, tv, sports, books) I don't want to be confused with some crazy person who can't decipher boundaries bc I run an active stan account. on the topic of always being good; we’re so stacked that when IIHF Worlds is on, our roster gets STRIPPED because we have a lot of Australia’s best players! this year it happened and resulted in . um. a 9 game loss streak? <3 we were DEAD last in the league for a while. but the boys came back and we clawed our way to 2nd place in our conference pretty neatly

despite being so good, our rink is SHIT. i’m so serious. as a local, i’ve been to it and skated on it. god. soft, bewretched, small ice. there’s a fucking TRENCH between the boards and the ice too… like you could lose a small earring down that gap 😭 AND during intermission our zamboni does her best but often we have issues with flooding. smallest ice surface and smallest barn in the AIHL i do believe! this is because there’s been a decades-long power struggle between the owners and the government. (the streets are saying it has also historically been a pretty unfriendly place to the hockey players because the owner’s wife was a figure skater so her and her people always got preferential treatment LMAO) ANYWAY the propaganda part is . we play and practice on this ice and in this shitty old barn and we are still TORCHING the league <3 in a way i feel like we are the scrappy underdogs (we are not. but. we are to ME!!) anyway imagine what we could do with real facilities jskdjshsklff

we just signed Austin Cangelosi and he’s boybestfriends with our guy Jake Ratcliffe and i love seeing them gossip on the ice like two girls at a slumber party. Cangelosi is 5’7 and got 🤏 this close to the NHL during a time where size was absolutely everything. i have the scouting notes from his draft year, and his overage draft years — i think if he’d come up in this era somebody would’ve taken a shot at him in like the 5th-7th round?? but alas. smash cut to now: he’s a small, fast, skilled player and has a relentless motor. if he stays with us next year he probably contends for most points in the league. he’s very good and fun and i louve heem…

i was talking shit about the Brave Cave but i love her so bad. we have new management who i deeply despise on a moral level because they’re a property development/building company, but aside from that they’ve put staff in place to make the vibes of pre/post games SO good. we’re hoping with this acquisition we will finally get the new rink we were promised in uhhhhh 2017. but who CARE!!! right now the capacity in the Cave is about 500, but it is apparently THEE most miserable place to play in as a travelling team. we’re a very rowdy crowd. we don’t boo our guys. we are deeply intimidating down to the last small child in CBR Brave facepaint.

on the topic of vibes: there are a few personalities at the rink who are pretty much fixtures. 1) the Cow Bell Guy; which is what it says on the tin. he brings a cow bell to every game and clangs it whenever something cool happens. when i say every game i mean like. i’ve seen him on monday nights when our beer league teams play godbless. (chatted to him a few times, his kid is a hockey fanatic and an ipad baby LMAO). 2) the Screamer; also what it says on the tin. Legend has it about 15 years ago she discovered hockey in an Autism Way and now she attends every home game and stands in the exact same corner. she heckles the SHIT out of the opposing team and honestly it would be kinda offputting if it was my team she was yelling at but she’s on MY side and so she’s a hero to me <3 i initially thought she was an overenthusiastic WAG or something but. no. she’s just on the hockey freak juice.

A bit of an unexpected post for this blog (not kidding, I'm super nervous to post it on main aAAAA) but a few ago, I stumbled upon this post by the talented @oswildin that is literally amazing in both its concept and the drawing.

Because it looked so fun, I wanted to try my hand at it.. granted, I'm no artist (I haven't drawn in YEARS) but I still tried. Instead, I mostly played into what I think is my greatest strength, which would be storytelling.

(I would like to apologize in advance for the mess you're gonna see that I literally drew on one of my uni books..😭)

Here's what I came up with for my Lokisona's appearance along with some references and some background facts about them:

Loki (any pronouns but prefers she/they) hails from a timeline where Asgard’s warrior pride is multiplied times ten. Despite being Odin’s child, she grew up shy and self-conscious, often overshadowed by her older brother, Thor, and relentlessly teased by his friends under the guise of “toughening her up.” She was often tasked to cleaning up the training grounds after brutal sparring sessions and being pretty much beat up to the ground and left her with a complicated love/hate dynamic toward Asgard’s golden warriors. She’d watch them with a bitter sort of awe, both longing to be part of their world and despising how they made her feel so small.

Her refuge was in stories where relentless heroes carved their destinies with grit and defiance. Chess and board games like Dungeons & Dragons became her escape, offering worlds where she was both the mastermind and the hero. She rooted for the underdogs, the misfits who defied expectations because deep down, that’s who she wanted to be.

Thor, over a century her senior, got earlier access into Asgard's military program and often travelled to make expeditions, from which he once brought her horns from a beast he’d slain (there was a tradition where warriors would come back with a gift for their lady, and since he was single, it was given to her). Since then, Loki vowed to make them her mark, and eventually did. But while Thor thrived in battle, Loki was at some point steered toward courtly duties, expected to be a proper princess. Her close bond with her mother Frigga was her saving grace as she convinced Odin to let her study magic, under the pretense it would help her defend herself if ever attacked.

Before discovering her magic, Loki’s identity felt kind of undefined and she envied Thor’s assigned red representing blood, a sign of being Asgard’s fiercest warrior. But when her own magic first flared emerald green, it felt like the universe finally handed her a name. They clutched it tightly, weaving it into their fashion and their very sense of self. They also liked the subtle danger signal the green brought, often associated to snakes and poison.

Then came adolescence and with it, rebellion. Gone was the timid girl—in her place stood a hurricane. Loki started to ditch the etiquette lessons, preferring to sneak out to party, get herself tangled with lovers (especially Thor’s romantic interests just to spite him) and orchestrated elaborate pranks to humiliate the ladies of the court who often shunned her. Whispers followed her wherever she went, but as Asgard’s princess, no one could do more than complain. Her dramatics bled into her wardrobe, especially with her coat often seen hanging over her shoulders and on which she proudly harboured her realm's symbol.

Being grounded more often than not, Loki ended up turning to the palace library. There, hidden in shadowed corners, she spied and learned lessons meant for Thor: geopolitics, military strategy, economics... She’d sneak into his room to steal notes—not that he wrote much on them anyway, forcing her to do most of the research herself. Knowledge became her secret weapon, the thing no one could take from her.

One night, she caught Mimir, Odin’s advisor, sneaking through the palace. She curiously followed him into a secret study that contained a powerful book of dark magic. She stole it, naturally, but Heimdall eventually caught her. Punishment followed but she managed to keep the book hidden, studying its forbidden pages under her mattress and scribbling snarky notes and doodles in the margins.

Her true rise came during a surprise attack, courtesy of the Dark Elves. Asgard’s forces were unprepared and Thor got injured in the assault. Loki managed to miraculously step in, leveraging her knowledge of Asgard’s layout and strategic brilliance to turn the tide. Victory was hers, and it earned her a seat at the war council where she thrived as a strategist, winning battles and collecting accolades. Each triumph was marked with a star pinned beside her beloved horns.

But these horns on her head weren’t simply a symbol of pride anymore, they also were a tether of her complicated emotions regarding her brother. With power came disillusionment, and she realized that Thor, the golden child, wasn’t the flawless warrior she’d once idolized. He was reckless, all brawn and little strategy. She saw it clearly now: she was the better leader. The better general. The better heir.

Her nexus event came when she learned the truth about her origins and Odin’s plans to marry her off like a pawn in his endless political games. The rage was volcanic, years of bitterness and betrayal spilling over, which led her to regrettably kill him. And with that, her timeline shattered.

Side note, her weapon of predilection is a sword cane because I thought that as much as it would bring a kind of dramatic flair to her, I could play into it and say that she messed one of her ankles or something during the battle.

Feel free to also let me know what you think about it and if you have headcanons for them, this is really just a silly idea I got that I developed for fun in give or take a few hours.🤸🏻‍♀️🤸🏻‍♀️

merry christmas, pls can u do ateez overall view of do they view themselves as underdogs outside of big4 they kind of have had to take the longer route to getting recognition and even then people still like to shit on them and whatnot compared to even skz who are still massively followed and supported it seems ateez have it harder and i wondered if there was any stigma against small agency groups or whut cause they did an interview with an indian lady and it got removed it just feels like they have to really fight for their success.

Does ATEEZ view themselves as underdogs? (10 of Swords + 8 of Wands

For ATEEZ, I feel like this reflects the struggles they’ve gone through—times when it felt like the odds were stacked against them, or like no matter how hard they worked, it wasn’t enough to break through.

But then you’ve got the 8 of Wands, and that’s where the energy shifts completely. This card is all about movement—things picking up speed and opportunities coming out of nowhere. It’s like the universe decided to finally throw them a bone, and now everything is happening so fast. Their recent success, especially with their comebacks, feels like this card: it’s pushing them forward and giving them a renewed sense of energy and hope. The 8 of Wands is basically saying, Yeah, you went through hell, but now it’s time to fly.

So, I’d say that while they probably do see themselves as underdogs because of everything they’ve been through, they’re definitely not letting that define them anymore. Things are finally starting to take off for them, and they’re making the most of it.

I’d also add that it’s not just about opportunities, but also the pace at which things are happening. It’s like their hard work is finally paying off, and now everything is moving so quickly, almost like they barely have time to process it all. There’s this sense of momentum that feels unstoppable—like they’ve been launched into this upward trajectory, and things are falling into place faster than they expected.

Basically, there’s a lot of good shit going on, but it’s happening very fucking fast 😭. Which I think they are grateful for but that doesn’t mean they know how to handle it just yet. And I also get the energy of them being like … oh so now yall see the potential??? now yall want us on your shows??

Is there a genuine stigma against groups that aren’t apart of the big 4? (Knight of Pentacles, 6 of Pentacles + 7 of Swords, and Page of Pentacles)

The Knight of Pentacles really lays the foundation here. It speaks to the journey that smaller groups in the industry face: long, steady, and full of hard work. Hello👋 I came here from your Maki-Angel AO3 fic. I really enjoyed reading your Makima analysis on here. It's always awesome seeing people reflect on her character. I'm also quite normal about her. I remember hating her on my first reading. But as time went on, her whole arc and existence resonated with me. What were your impressions after your first run through Part 1? Did you love her from the outset, or did it take time to build?

This is like really long lol I recount my reading experience like a dramatic play. For the occasion it's now my Makima central post for talking about my personal thoughts on her and all, I also recommend some fics and fanart at the end.

Have my little Makima shrine that I look at with wistful sighs. I want the Yoyo studio bust of her so bad but it only comes as a purchase bonus for an expensive af figure. Also the zaohua figure but I'll keep dreaming

I actually may have the weirdest chainsaw man reading experience... I actually read Chainsaw Man part 1 FOR Makima. She was my fuel and my drive to keep reading, knowing more about her and what happened to her was the thing keeping me reading. At the time I didn't know fujimoto like that™️ yet so I didn't really have built up trust in his writing and I took everything at face value sort of. The humor, the shonen-ness of some of the story really wasn't for me, and as an ace I don't like putting sexuality and romance on a pedestral of importance, when it isn't done self-awarely.

I like to say about csm actually that it does this really interesting thing where it starts out making you suspend your disbelief about red flags. There's obviously something wrong about Makima from the very get-go, but it's not really like Aki and Power were nice healthy buddies for Denji at first either. Everyone introduces CSM as being this craaAAazyyYy series so sure, okay, a messy morally ambiguous cast à la Dorohedoro, love that! Her weirdass direct and smiling behavior had me intrigued scene 1.

And having a character be blatantly uncanny and ominous despite having done nothing much actually wrong yet is the best way to activate my charitability neurones... I was consciously dismissing the red flags listen I drunk the koolaid- it actually gave me this very interesting experience of being in denji's shoes about Makima. Early on I shipped Denji Makima and I clungggg to that hug in the first meeting, I clung to that warmth I clung to every bit of humanity she showed. I clung to it maybe being a underdog x underdog story, I thought... I thought she could have a redemption arc like Power and all, I thought Denji could fix Makima I thought he could complement her very cold practical mindset and ground her 😭😭 I cheered when she didn't die in the train, I cared about nothing else.

So obviously that did not go very well for me. When she died let me tell you I MOURNED Makima, I also had to mourn their relationship alongside her- it was really masterfully done of just pushing and pushing until it couldn't be denied in the slightest that the relationship was abusive, plain and simple, and that Makima wouldn't change. That the way Denji defeats her works because she never cared about him in the slightest at all- tough pill to swallow that crushed my soul, 10/10 unforgettable Fujimoto I trust you with my life now. But you know, I couldn't help myself from still loving her, for my heart still aching for her and wanting to see the humanity in her- Denji's sushi reaction about still loving your abuser rang so true. Makima feels like she was MY abusive partner 😂 So i see her as someone who couldn't be saved from herself, sort of. Denying to yourself that you crave connection and love never goes well. So in the end the thing about Nayuta and giving her the hugs Makima couldn't receive really comforts me a lot. You can't save makima, but you can do good in her memory, even if all she left you was empty adoration and hurt. Am the #1 hater of the "the control devil can only be evil" theory.

And then the next level of this is that for like a year I did not actually complete my read of Chainsaw Man. That's right, I dropped Chainsaw Man... It's only with part 2, which is much more my thing story wise, that I started reading again- still avoiding reading what I skipped in part 1. Last year I eventually did binge part 1, but I really had to prepare myself mentally for it for a long time first.

What was so bad I dropped you ask? Reze. Reze's debut. I'm not kidding lol, even now I still dislike Reze, sure it's some of what she did too but it was mostly what she represented, the tropes and plot progression she brought with her. Reze showed up and Denji started crushing on her, and immediately I knew where the story was going. Immediately I knew it wasn't going the Makima redemption route. Ah shit red flags real. You don't introduce a secondary love interest in a story like that like THAT without setting up themes of moving on and letting go and noooooo no I did NOT want to let go of Makima. So I skimmed ahead and my fears got confirmed and then I stopped. I wallowed. Then an hour later I go to the chainsaw man wikipage for Makima and spoil myself on everything. Oh she's the control devil? Checks out. Oh she wants to set her own world order and wants to have an authorotarian government? Yeah she would... Too true...... And then I did read the last chapter and I did grow a lot of appreciation for Fujimoto and the whole story. Ah shit it was about abuse all along and u played me like a fiddle. Sob. So when I say I mourned makima, -gestures-.

I stewed in my feelings for a long time and just sorta digested my emotions and thoughts and curled up in a ball on the floor rolling sobbing chanting her name in misery. My appreciation for Denji and Fujimoto's writing grew directly as my unconditional love for Makima wilted. I have a lot of love for Denji and a lot of respect for Fujimoto.

I tend to have a character reading style where I get my enjoyment and emotions from growing to understand and be attached to characters more than events happening and keeping action going. Sort of instead of "what happens next" my drive is "what happens TO THEM next". By latching onto bits of psychology I find interesting or promising that means i got really attached to Makima hard and fast. I knowww pass me the clown wig.

She does target a lot of my specific interests in characters though. My favorites things ate the undesirable and the dehumanized- and the control devil Makima plays into both (because her desirability is limited by her feeling uncanny and it being an instinctive red flag) but mostly the latter, hard. I love people having a hard time finding somewhere to belong, I love nonhuman characters willingly or nof craving being human, I love characters struggling with their humanity (even when they aren't human! But you can't outrun a desire for bonds and emotions), I love characters who don't know how to give or receive love. Even when characters are pure evil I will always attempt to humanize, even if it's just for the sake of understanding them onesidedly. Seeking the humanij thd inhuman is MY SHIT!! Esp as someone who gets dehumanized for not being born intuively understanding socialization, either. Part of her resonates with me, the afab autism vibe and demeanor, the scripted way she approaches socializing, the perfectionism to compensate, the rigidity and the self-preservation of denying she has feelings. If denjima was endgame it WOULD have been addictive to me, reading redemption arc longfics 1000 times. Well the reveal Denji is 16 did have me horrified but in a perfect world yk. But no instead makima is an exercice in things being tailored for me, yes being humanized in canon which considering her character ia frankly surprising, but being told very firmly "No, they can't get better". Don't get me wrong the angst is great and I love pain, but man, even with like Metal Sonic's chronix self-destructive obsession there are silver linings. So no instead i just get to read fics about her and her dogs chilling together with crumbs of happiness and make my peace that she's doomed, that this is doomed. She's tragic, that's what she is to me. Falls down a flight of stairs

I yearn for a world where I could love her unconditionally and the meta IS part of the angst for me. I watch this edit a lot:

Makima with Washing Machine Heart really does go unfathomably hard "I know who you pretend I am" not as 'you love another' but as 'you hold onto this version where I am nice instead of untrustworthy, as this idol as- Ughhh ugh ugh ugh ugh I love trying to understand her I love the slope of her eyes I love the way she emotes and moves and her petty or opiniated words whenever she lets herself intone I love whatever I can glean from her impersonal unfeeling brick wall persona, I love the person I pretend she is.

So yes I never hated Makima but she did hurt me a lot.

I actually discovered makiangel on a binge of fics like this, with the tags Makima + character study on I think, with Terrible Fish which I also really recommend. I love exploring characters and making them have arcs specifically through relationships they have a lot, which leads me to shipping being important to me. No ship with her fit quite right for the longest time though, they're all doomed of course, but Denji doesn't provoke much in her, I like Makima x quanxi and I also entertained x Kishibe and x Power, but makiangel just CLICKED. It's very cathartic for me to write about her even when you can never overstate the rot that she is, the aching infected wound, the destructive ruthlessness of her.

I'm aware this post may make me look insane but whatever lol, art can make emotional fools out of all of us and that's precious I think.
