I'll say this, this one chapter of Will's frankly BREATHTAKINGLY Unwell cocktail of abandonment issues + savior complex + self deprecation is the most tolerable angsty characterisation part of this book. Mainly because he's just staggering around with open wounds trying to be "useful" and "less of a burden" with forced cheerfulness and trying not to acknowledge how insane that it

just a testament to how poor the writing is 😭. that lightning thief echidna scene went SO HARD. this is pure shit. you could have made it hardcore. it was a direct parallel. it was RIIIIIGHT there for the taking. echidna dares percy to jump off the arch. she's responsible for nico getting dragged to tartarus. but the WRITING. Is PISS POOR

I'll say though: I very much enjoy the concept of Will being like. Uncomfortable with the darker aspects of Nico's life and Nico taking (kind of rightful) umbrage with that. That's intriguing to me. It's a good, believable conflict. Wish they knew how to write though!
