yes i am the biggest advocate of surrogate father haymitch & adopted daughter katniss but like. they're so Awful. they've not got a mother/daughter relationship, they've got that father/daughter relationship where the dad is both reaching for a connection and rejecting the thing that he made because she's too much like him, too close to what he is and far away from it because of her potential and the daughter rejects because she doesn't understand him. understanding him is understanding herself. caring for him is caring for herself. and then she's awful to him because she doesn't understand and doesn't want to understand. and he's rejectful of her because she's got so many traits that are for the worse and not for the better. their similarities don't hurt nearly as much as what their differencee impale them with. it will always be what katniss could be (haymitch), and what haymitch prevented/could've been (katniss.)

Hi! Hope you're doing well! I just wanted to check in and see if there is an ETA on epubs for anyone who's ordered them recently - I ordered epubs of both Fox's Tongue and Kirin's Bone, and The Skin Stealer's Son on the 31st of May but haven't gotten them yet. Very very soon! I ran into some issues with a corrupted file, which meant I had to go back to the version before that, which didn't have the final typo fixes because of course it didn't so I've been cleaning those up all week, blerg. I'm 90% done now--hoping to finalize the epub tomorrow and start getting them out the day after, assuming my computer doesn't eat things again. Since I'm now compulsively saving to three locations every few hours that should hopefully not be an issue again.

The piercings thing confuses Alcina to no end.

Her three daughters don’t like needles at all. She’d go as far as to say that their fear is unnatural because it’s only a small poke but her daughters act as if the world is about to end. They have various degrees of fear, some more than others, but it’s the same nonetheless.

She gets that Daniela had only three, although that’s a surprising number for someone who hates being near needles.

But what baffles her is Bela and Cassandra. For them to have that many piercings, and for them to be chill about it? She asked them about it, because she is confused. Her two older daughters confessed that every time they got their piercings they were drunk/high enough to go through with it.

Of course, they always went to get it with a trusted sober friend to get them home safely. So all is well and good.

anya is fluent in english; this is thanks to both rigorous studying of the language and, even more effectively so, working with english-speaking co-workers. she's picked up on a lot of english slang and a few stray speech mannerisms from her crewmates on the tulpar. even with her fluency, however, she still does occasionally forget words or misunderstand rhetorical phrases now and then, much to her frustration.

when she speaks, she audibly has a russian accent. it comes out more strongly some times than others.

I'm working on a one-shot and can't come up with a name Dani would use. Still in her ghost form, maybe with an added mask later on. Idk, brain empty but maybe when I have a convention of the name I'll come up with something.
