Thinking about how Johnny and V have seen every and all sides of each other in such an unfathomable and impossible way unknown yet to humans.

Every side of them. The good and the bad, the ugly and the pretty, the fair and the unjust, the black and white and all shades of grey in between. And how all they can do is accept each other as they come and as they are in spite of, they literally have no choice to. And they still grow to care for each other despite that.

How Johnny wants to save V and how V would die for Johnny. How Johnny would die if it meant he could save V and how V would die if it meant Johnny could live. How Johnny, the Selfish Bastard of the Century, would give his life up for V and how V would give theirs up for Johnny.

Their souls are literally intrinsically tied, bonded for life, even after they split. There will always be a part of them they carry in each other. Whether that's V's face for Johnny when the body is given up for him, or the damage Johnny's engram had already caused in V.

There's always going to be a little of one leftover in the other. I'm not sure I believe in soulmates, but it is undeniable that these two have become the first proven and scientifically backed instance of them. (To me.)

as shocking as the manslaughter of it all is I think there's some value in saying "this isn't a story about an oopsie or a personal conflict, this is a crime: an action considered incredibly serious to both this faith community and the law. I went to jail. and someone extended me mercy. I took a human life and I was still worthy of compassion and support from my community and my god."

not only does it drive the pathos of the story home (obviously a lot of people have been shaken up by it) but it also clearly communicates that you truly can never ever sink lower than the light of Christ's Atonement shines. you are more than not only your little stumbles but also your monumental fuck ups. the things that happened even if you didn't mean to. the things that got wildly out of hand. none of it makes you irredeemable, none of it.

i agree about cartoonish villians about ravens. most of them being bystanders made sense but all of them being this much of evil? idk. after nora posted about zane with the song watch me burn(?) i waited more from him but maybe we will get more of him in next book. also there was a raven jean texted, jean said he get along well with him and he bacame partners with lyle(?) bc he was getting bullied. im waiting something from them.

Yeah it makes sense to me they’d react violently in certain situations; we can see shades of it in Jean and Kevin too. They’ve been conditioned this way, it’s only logical. But this level of malice in practically every single one of them is just insane 🥸 When they mentioned how Cameron Winter was also apparently very antiblack on top of, you know, having just tried to murder Andrew, I just had to laugh 😭 Like damn they’re all just terrible irredeemable people aren’t they lol

Short story time hey-hey! <3

One day when I was with my dad's house, R came through. Meanwhile I studied for the exams in the kitchen. (Dad helped me by listening to me when I learned the exam tasks) and when I heard the front door open, I thought it was my dad, so I said out loud to him:

"Dad, will you help me please? I'd like to tell you about this exam assignment!"

Girls.. who would have thought that it was not my dad but R???😵😭 Then I didn't get an answer right away and I kept writing in my notebook bla bla bla and didn't even look up when this omg sentence burned into my brain:

"Of course I'll help you angel!"

I obviously noticed that it wasn't my dad's voice and I immediately raised my head and saw R jokingly smiling at me.😱 I honestly felt like my head was going to be red, not just because he was here, but mainly because he called me angel. Okay, I know he was joking and he was trying to imitate my dad, but damn this situation made my heart skip a beat...😳😳

btw R really wanted to help me study, but then my dad came and pulled him away from me lol *sad*

why is loving someone so complicated sometimes ?

In this era it's hard to stay... hard to work things out... hard to keep your smile up and being happy.

I'd never thought love could be so intense... it's sometimes so beautiful and the other day it's painful and difficult.

You choose your partner over and over all... but would your partner do that to? Would your partner come over if you need him?

Would your partner make plans with you... about your future?

Would your partner be able to marry you because of endless love & trust?

Would your partner stay with you even if there's no intimacy again?

Would your partner still be able to love you? To love you just the way you are... not for your body? Just by being you no matter what? A partner who loves me like I am... with all my insecurities... just full of hope and love.

I just wish it's you for the rest of my life!

Thinking about Dagan Gera and Santari Khri from Jedi: Survivor and big dogs what I wouldn’t have given for that to have been the resounding antagonistic plot line that followed the entire game instead of fizzling in and out and in again when convenient for dues ex machinas in a kind of convoluted plot (with love).

Why did Santari give Dagan so many chances?

She was afraid of him and wounded by his betrayal, but she gave him so many chances. She asked him to surrender, she severed his arm but saved his life despite such a serious injury. She left him a compass. She left him coordinates to Tanalorr. And for what? They obviously loved each other, and she gave him everything even when attempting to make a modicum of a self-persevering and rational choice against a traitor.

I really genuinely thought the plot to Tanalor would find Santari miraculously preserved like Dagan and she would end up joining him in the dark, as it was implied she’d do anything for him without the weight of the Jedi code on her shoulders. Would she extend her life to wait for him? Suspend her belief to embrace what he sees as right, despite fear and hesitation?

She is everything Merrin isn’t. With Dagan in flashbacks she is not particularly firm even when severing his arm. She struggles to reprimand his ideas or bring him back to the light, her love for him leads to blindness of her own thoughts and moral code. She reflects Bode in his betrayal more than almost any other character. Love is the great redeemer as much as it is steepled in the red it reflects.

Merrin is brave and steadfast and curt and honest. She’s what someone like Dagan needed, and what Cal needs. It’s exactly why they make so much sense together while Dagan and Santari imploded. It’s just such an interesting dynamic and I sooo badly wish it could’ve been further explored in the game.
