I try not to make a lot of original posts on topics I don't actually have any expertise on, but I haven't seen a whole lot of posts going around that actually... explain what happened and why? Like, the actual order of events, the history, and so on. I want to reblog reference posts and explanations by people who actually know what they're talking about, but I haven't seen anything that hits the buttons I need to actually get a political situation... but I have seen some stuff on other platforms.

So here are some videos I've personally found useful in understanding Israel-Palestine, because that's the format I've found most useful in processing information of this nature:

Why Israel was Originally Attacked from RealLifeLore (explains the decades of political dynamics, internal demographic tensions, and power shifts leading up to the current conflict; notably the best I've seen at actually explaining what 'Israeli Occupation' actually means)

Israel-Hamas War: Last Week Tonight with John Oliver (HBO) (commentary on the actual current situation in terms of who's getting attacked, why, and what the international ramifications so far are)

What's Happening in Israel and Why with Nathan Thrall from Adam Conover, series Factually (a discussion with an on-the-ground journalist about what life was like on the ground for Palestinian people in the areas under Israeli control during the last few years, just up to the attacks themselves)

I'm not going to claim these are comprehensive or completely unbiased (there are a few moments where I'm not entirely sure of the bias levels myself), but for people like myself who came into all this unsure of what the actual situation even is, I think these are a solid set to build up an basic understanding from which to put together opinions on future information.

I can't tell anyone what to think about how or why any of this is happening. I can only really tell you that what's going on right now is a crime on the level of attempted genocide, and that the years leading up to that have been an absolute mess on almost all fronts.

Again, I have no expertise on this subject. I just know what kind of video essay, political commentary, and interview style makes things understandable to me, personally, and might work for others. Please be courteous and kind in the comments and tags, as I am only sharing this because I haven't seen such a resource making the rounds yet, not actually trying to sway anyone in a particular direction beyond "the mass death needs to stop."

If you know of similar, relatively unbiased* resources, feel free to share.

* By 'relatively unbaised,' I don't mean taking or not taking a side; I just mean that it doesn't try to hide some information or other in favor of pushing a narrative, doesn't try to generalize a population, or doesn't seem to be trying to use emotional gut reactions to get readers or viewers to jump past reason or compassion.

Funny how that user put in their comments “trying to stir shit up” but they actually made a post and tagged it as Elucien when they’re was nothing positive. If anything I said they’re looking to stir shit up and start stuff. And I don’t even ship Tamlain or really care about Tamlin as a character. Elain is more than just a charter to be shipped with but the whole Elain week seem E/riel biased.

I think it comes down to this:if you can’t run an unbaised/objective event maybe don’t host one 🤷.

What scene/dialogue in bad buddy absolutely devastated you (but in the larger context of the episode and the show got ignored cos we had bigger traumas to unpack) and why for me was it this scene when Pat asks Pran when he's going to get the documents from LogTech and then proceeding to say that he wants to go visit the musical instrument shop?

I cant believe i didnt properly process it earlier but Pat really asked him to go to the musical instrument shop.

Not because he wants to visit the shop but because he cant take one more second of being apart from Pran and whatever this awkward almost hostile distance that Pran had put between them. The fact that he was trying to say that casually, as if all was as "normal" as it was pre rooftop kiss, when he was feeling anything but casual on the inside, his heart being on the bottom of the feelings-roller-coaster he had on been ever since that moment in the instrument shop when it finally hit him, what he had been oblivious to all along, that Pran was there, and that Pat missed him even while he was standing right in front of him and that somewhere along the way he had fallen in love with him without even knowing.

Just look at him. He's so so so in love it physically hurts ME ( an independent (NOT) unbaised (NOT) observer).

And so now he tries to inject a sense of normality and familiarity into this gap in their relationship by asking Pran to accompany him to the instrument store, do what they have done a bunch of times already but this time maybe even in hopes of telling him what he had felt the last time they were there together??!? Do you realize how devastating that is??

Watching Pat ask that with trepidation, for the first time, well and truly unsure of what is or isnt allowed to him in his dynamic with Pran and knowing (in hindsight) Pran's plan of cutting him off at least temporaririly and knowing Pat's efforts wont be reciprocated (for at least a while more) just hurts so bad i almost couldnt believe it didnt strike me the first 5 times i watched the episode.

It's literally just 10 seconds and probably one of the most un-remarkable moments in the entire episode if not show and yet i am so so so deeply shattered by it.

Is that just me being unwell or did you tear up too...? Feel free to add more devastation i really do wanna know if ive missed any more small but not insignificant moments like these.

My thoughts on O from Sex Education

I have seen divided opinions on Sarah "O" Owen from Sex education. Here's my thoughts:

Not the bestest ace representation, but I think this is the most screentime and attention an ace character has gotten in a mainstream show (as far as I am aware), and I think that's huge. Sex Education is a popular show, worldwide. So before anything, I am thankful to the creators for creating an ace character who had pivotal role to play this season.

It was an interesting idea for an asexual character to be a sex therapist, just because they think it's fascinating: sex and relationships. And it also made sense to me why she concealed her identity from her peers, cause to allosexuals, it could be just beyond comprehension; a bizzare idea; that someone who isn't having sex, is giving them sex advice? Hell no.

Sure Cavendish is a progressive institution, inclusive to all. But no one had a problem with her being asexual person. It was just their pre-concieved notion about how asexuals would be; someone-who-doesn't-like-sex-and-stays-away-from-it. Hence, isn't O an excellent character to break the stereotype? An ace who is fascinated by sex and relationships, someone with unbaised perspective, someone who actively talks and helps people deal with their sexual issues? It's beautiful.

I also related to her feeling that she was better off alone, and her clinic meant everything to her, something she held onto? She had no real friends, either. She was just alone. We all have things that mean a lot to us, that might seem silly to others. My goals and my love for anime seem extreme/obsessive to people. But they have to much on their plate, and they are hyperfixting on things, I don't really care or understand either. There is a gap, that cannot be bridged. But it's okay, we all have different ways and paths to walk, and it is okay to be an ace and feel alone.

The only thing I didn't appreciate is she being a bully and not standing up for her friend, and also not apologizing. Sure, in that moment she did it to protect herself. But I am sure she had several opportunities to apologize to Ruby later on, but she didn't. I don't know why? The only plusible explanation is she maybe didn't want to explain herself, as to why she did it. But she could have tried, atleast. She wasn't the nicest person, ofcourse. But all allosexuals aren't either?

Overall, I am still happy we got an ace character who isn't forgettable with just 2 minute screentime!

It really sounds more logical to you that the entire scientific community is corrupt and being quiet about it and that even the oil companies are in on it than that you are misled by misinformation?

The climate models that all these so-called scientists use are bullshit. Data is constantly "adjusted" so they get the outcomes they want. This is proven fact. A fact that the climate cult will admit when they get caught, then hide behind "but we're scientists and we know what we're doing". If you've had even one eye open these past three years, you know scientists can't be trusted to remain unbaised when their science becomes political.

Older Concept Work (1/2) : A.C.E

Small overview: A.C.E is the ruler of a world that's technology was deemed the embodiment of God. As a centralised super computer with A.I none can rival, A.C.E is grand ruler, divine exucutioner, and quite comfortable in it's position. Calculated, cool and just slightly (/s) egotistical, it's not above crunching out what dares oppose it's enlightened right.

The more orthodox would say God's liason should be unbaised, unfeeling. They'd also say a ruler should know humility and compassion. It's all quite hypocritical, a lot like A.C.E. Who, in secret, scorns the setback of image, emotions and morals, yet keeps his "mother" captive and close at hand, under the guise of needing her expertise as on-call repair.

The designs underneath are A.C.E's primary form. Though it hates the idea of immitating lower flesh, bipedal and humanoid does actually make a lot of tasks more doable.

HiiI! I'm trying to get a bit more into D&D and I think I found an okay group to play with. I wanna start playing a magic user but I have no idea how to pick between Warlock, Wizard or Sorcerer. Any tips? Sorry if this is annoying, you seem knowledgeable :3

oh no please dnd is one of those things i can talk about until i'm blue in the face!! ask away!!

depending on how much you wanna read into spells, dealing with slots vs. learned vs. prepared vs. counting per day, i would say starting off with a warlock is a great choice.

warlocks basically only get two spells per short rest up until level 11 so it's very easy to manage. they are also able to upcast any spell at no cost due to the low slots per day, so i would say if you are doing a lower level game definitely go for warlocks. the downside is obviously they are only able to cast that little spells, but if you take enough short rests as a party that shouldn't be a problem. and you can always be a meelee warlock (hexblade is fucking op as a choice) but my first ever character was a warlock with no weapons and i remember her kicking ass, you just gotta read into what kinda character you wanna go for and if you wanna be a damage dealer, utility, healer (not very recommended or possible with this class but still) etc. and you're good to go!

sorcerers have the sorcerer points to deal with on top of any feats that may be associated with metamagic points etc. altho sorcerer is prob my least favorite magic class to play with so maybe i'm not the best person to give you an unbaised opinion.

wizards are just nerds. fuck wizards. nobody likes them. fuck your fireballs.

I laugh to myself when Feysand stans complain about acosf not being accurate to their characters bc Feyre and Rhys are like that in the previous books. There was no personality change we just went from a highly biased POV to third person which is an unbaised POV. So in other words the narrative wasn't making excuses for their awful actions.
