I remember one time an anon talked about Aerith ENG VA and her reaction video about A resolution I saw it today not trying to be disrespectful but can she stop overreacting about everything regarding A like she was over the in her video I saw how she was trying to be emotional but failed (sorry it was fake) and then she started talking about how it was her favorite line"you can't fell in love with me" and C and A ,how deep C felt for her in here excuse me!!! these 2 knew each other for like(1/?)
For like 1 day and a half what could he possibly feel for her that could be this deep WTF !! And oh God the moment she said if you look at C and A backstory you would understand her resolution umm what backstory C story isn't even linked to A likewise to A Tifa is the key to C real self the fact she didn't explain "it not real" and stuck with the L word just shows how she doesn't understand a thing about FF7 and she thinks everything about C&A in this game (2/3)
How can anyone take her seriously at this stage just because she the voice of A well they have to think again cause she's not Nojima , she erases everyone on the game and focus on C and A like there's no T or B , omg I just can't the moment she started to fake crying I was done with her tbh how can anyone believe that heh look at C and A backstory she said like she can't be serious I wonder why she didn't explain "not real" line, I'm sorry I went on rage mode but the way she explained (3/4)
I got really curious about the anon ask you got and I just had to see it and i regret it now I'm so glad Britt isn't like her "bias&blind" , I loved how BRITT talked about Tifa and Aerith as equals and girls doesn't need to fight each other over a man they have a beautiful deep friendship , I like how she's trying to stop the shipwars with her words while White was firing up the shipwars because of her bias toward A , again sorry for this long ask I just couldn't stand how wrong she was(4/4)
Hey anon!
No worries on the rant, I feel you. I can get fired up about this topic myself.
Bri White is an entertainer. Since she seems to have a heavy following of CA fans, she’s going to cater to them. I had heard in the past that she was extremely biased during her play throughs, but have only watched a few parts of her videos. She only seems to post the Aerith scenes on YouTube - the rest of the play through is on Twitch.
Of course she’s biased - she voices the character. My first experience with her was her crying over Cloud and Aerith meeting and I couldn’t deal with that. I’m not good with that type of overly emotional stuff, so it’s a personal preference, I’m not saying anything bad about her in that regard.
A few times she’s upset fans and actually added quite a bit of fuel to the shitshow that’s the LTD is when she called Tifa “stinky” and when she said Tifa was “second best girl.”
Tumblr media
The stinky comment was clearly supposed to be a joke in reference to her shower comment. I think in normal circumstances nobody would have gotten upset. I don’t think initially anybody got upset. It’s because the extremists took it and started using it as if this is some type of weird fact.
The second best girl shit was a poor judgement call on her part on how to name the video. I know both Bri and Britt weren’t too familiar with the LTD, Britt even saying she wasn’t really aware of it until people definitely harassed her on social media she heard about it on social media
Bri I think was not malicious in what she did. She was catering to her audience. I do think that VAs and other people who could be seen as an authoritative source on things SHOULD be a lot more conscious of what they’re saying. People may take it seriously and it just creates more issues. Britt’s interview was great how she handled it.
Tumblr media
I would love to know how she’d react to Tifa’s resolution scene on her stream. It’s the most intimate interaction that he has in the game. It’s non-action oriented.
Tumblr media
The thing is, it’s heavily implied during Chapter 11 who the guy prefers. This isn’t a jab at Aerith, though. She’s not interested in him aside from the fact she’s digging for Zack info. I think what people miss is how she’s looking at Tifa in this shot. She’s not challenging her, she’s not angry... Tifa is softening her look - she’s also scared out of her mind here.
But Cloud doesn’t hide this during Chapter 10 and 11. He’s pretty obvious that he has a preference towards Tifa. So much so, that Tifa has to start stepping in to help out Aerith if she’s in trouble. Aerith returns the favor on multiple occassions - neither of these ladies are damsels in distress.
Tumblr media
If we need a damsel, nobody falls more in this game than Cloud does. One thing is for sure, though. He didn’t fall for Aerith in two days.

C/A say how the remake is about Cloud saving A this time and be with her like he wanted in the OG umm how ? In what game did he want to be with her ?did they play the actual game or read their fanfiction or how this time he will reunite with her in promised land (yep they have a serious obsession with PL) they really think the devs will change a major plots to please them, they really can’t seem to put it in their head that A was created die while they make seem the opposite (1/2)
They even say that Cloud never got over her death umm ACC says hello to you, In the movie Cloud was already moving on with his life and got over his GUILT for A and Z ,why do they want Cloud to live miserable for the rest of his life and never find happiness or worse to commit suicide ,fact Cloud was created to live the guy wants to love why can’t they get that through their heads, funny joke of the day is C/A seem the most realistic pairing of the game (2/2)
yeah because having romantic feeling in for someone in just 2 days is really realistic and they can’t seem not bring Tifa down and bash her when they want to prove their pairing ,you can see how threatened they are by her they know in the end their headcanon will never come true that why they are salty over Tifa and hate on her everytime even Zack ,they didn’t play OG post A death ,think CC isn’t canon despite it written by Nojima but a fanfic written by someone not by SE is canon yep!! (2/3)
When did he want to be with her? Do they mean in the optional choices they made that ended up with him taking her on a date where she told him he isn’t his real self and then she died and he admitted his real feelings for Tifa and lives with her and raises two kids and runs two businesses?
My in game timeline is still in progress but going off what I’ve got so far, Zack died on the 7th and Cloud met Aerith on the 12th. That’s five days. And then he hangs with her on the 12th to early hours of the 13th when she gets kidnapped and then he doesn’t see her again until the 15th, which is two days later. So, Cloud’s known Aerith for about 16hrs total by the end of the game if you condense it down.
Then in chapter 17 the focus is on escaping and even when the potential opportunity to save her from something and be romantic came up he didn’t do shit. He also doesn’t have much of a reaction to seeing her again besides “yup” and then “not really” when she asks if he missed her. Like, damn boi, you not holding back here. Such deep romance, you gonna make us blush.
Zerith is canon because pretty much everything in sector five is a reference to him. He’s all over the place. Sector 5 is Zerith town the same way sector 7 is cloti town.
Ignoring Nojima is what caused all the trouble in the first place. Pretty sure the triangle was Nomura’s idea and even he regrets it.

hey love :') ALL the odd numbers for the ff asks??
NOTE: I realize now that this said all the ODD numbers, but me being an idiot, I just read “all numbers” and went for it. oh, well. here’s answers no one asked for :P and the ones you asked for, thanks, ems ;))
this is why you’re the greatest friend in the entire world ;D okay, here we go!! i’m gonna skip the ones i already got asked, but there’s still plenty to do ;P thank you so, so much, I love you!
2. Least favorite game?
well, out of the ones i’ve played, i’m gonna have to go with type-0, at least for now. it’s pretty good, i like the story, but the gameplay is crazy hard (and this is coming from someone who has played final fantasy since she was 8) and i’m not like crazy in love with any of the characters. they’re all good, but there’s not that thing that i have with basically every other final fantasy. but i’ve not finished it yet, it has plenty of time to change my mind!
3. Which games have you played?
i have played vii, viii, ix, x, x-2, xii, xiii, xiii-2, lightning returns, xv, world of final fantasy, type-0 and dissidia nt. however, i would like to note that i’ve watched crisis core so many times that i have basically played that, too. and i would, if i had a psp. anyway, i recently bought vi, so i’ll be playing that next, and then going backwards. the only ones i am not actively trying to play are xi and xiv. i’m not into multiplayers. but anyway, i also know the stories of the dissidia games, and i know the stories from i to vi, so nothing is really unfamiliar to me. it’s an amazing franchise and i love it.
4. Most underrated game?
i have to say x-2. it gets so much hate and for no reason whatsoever. it’s such a joyous, beautiful game with wonderful characters, the best turn-based gameplay and surprisingly fun minigames and sidequests. i stan x-2 100%.
5. Most overrated game?
if i were less biased, i’d say vii, but i’m not perfect, so i’m gonna go with my other pick: vi. i am sure it’s absolutely wonderful, and everything seems great based on what i have heard, read and watched. however, the fact that the cast is literally cramped with 20 million different characters throws me off a tiny bit. i can’t see it being that easy to give good character development to all of them, and i guess that hasn’t happened. but yeah, i honestly can’t say much before actually playing it. but i suppose part of the praise is largely due to nostalgia - as it is with vii, too.
6. Favorite protagonist?
that would be my perfect darling, cloud strife.
7. Favorite antagonist?
this was a bit of a tough one, but i’m gonna go with ardyn izunia.
12. Best looking male?
cloud strife for sure. he’s really, really handsome, okay.
14. Character you would most like to marry?
well, this may come as a shocker, but cloud strife.
15. Character you hate the most?
i appreciate him for everything that he is, i think he’s a totally epic villain, but after everything he’s done to cloud, to aerith and to everyone else, i am definitely gonna have to go with sephiroth. but he is iconic and the franchise wouldn’t be the same without him.
16. Which game had the best cast of characters?
even though it’s not my favorite game, i’m gonna go with vii. it has such a large, engaging multiverse to itself that it’s had a lot of time to develop the characters and make them more interesting and fleshed out. and i love so many of them so much. like my darling cloud, or sunshine boy zack, or aerith, or tifa, vincent, yuffie, cid etc etc. i think the cast of characters is really awesome. but that’s not to say i don’t love the other casts, because i do, very much so.
17. Which game was the saddest?
crisis core. what made it worst was knowing from the start that zack was going to die, and then living through it all, seeing how happy he was. watching him fall in love with aerith, befriend cloud, and even hang out with sephiroth and genesis. it’s so heartbreaking watching that boy try so hard, and then eventually die protecting his best friend a few miles away from his goal. it’s really not fair, and watching the ending always breaks me. that’s not even counting the pain that cloud had to go through in crisis core, but if i take that into consideration, it just strengthens my argument: crisis core is definitely the saddest game.
18. Which game was the funniest?
x-2. i know it’s a bit cliche and maybe even a bit cringe, but i love every bit of it. it’s pure joy, and watching yuna be happy and carefree even for a bit warms my heart. and personally, what i think makes it even better is that the game also has so many heartbreaking, sad moments. it balances itself out very nicely.
19. Which game had the best love story?
i am definitely gonna go with x. the story of yuna and tidus is well fleshed out, it’s romantic, it’s tragic, it’s sweet and above all (because i love this aspect in couples) it’s angsty as fuck, and that is exactly what i want from any fictional couple. they are a big part of why i love x as much as i do.
21. Which game would you sooner die before doing the above ^?
since i picked x-2 for the game i’d like to insert myself into, i am gonna go with… xiii for the game i would not like to be in. the world is gorgeous, but the divide between the people of cocoon and the people of pulse, and the dictatorship-like way the world is ruled, yeah, no thank you. besides, i could never replace lightning, i have literally none of her good qualities.
22. Which game’s world would you most like to live in?
this was really hard for me to pick, but i think i would actually go with the world in viii. it’s a world that has technology (which, as a child of the 90′s, i do need), and it still has many fantasy elements to it, not to mention some really, really gorgeous locations, like fisherman’s horizon, balamb town etc.
23. Which specific location (e.g. Besaid Island) would you most like to live in?
if we’re going with specific locations, i think i would like to live in tenebrae from xv. it seems like such a gorgeous, peaceful place, i think i would be very happy there.
24. What’s your favorite job/class? Is this the same class you would want to be if you entered a class-based Final Fantasy game, or would you rather be a different one? If so, which one?
my favorite class is probably summoner, but i also have a fondness for the white magic, the black mage and the knight/any other variation of that job class. i think i would probably be a white mage myself.
25. What is your favorite ability?
summoning is always something i find very useful, obviously, but i also like noctis’ warp strike in xv. using weapons with abilities like stone strike is also really satisfying in x, too.
26. Favorite boss fight?
i really love the final boss battle against ardyn in xv. the main reason for this is because in the fight, ardyn doesn’t have an elaborate second form (tho i don’t mind those either), it’s literally just two men fighting each other. and the end, how ardyn loses because he can’t summon up the sword of the father, i think that’s really meaningful and i’ve always liked it a lot.
28. Your favorite spell?
well, i sure have grown very fond of curaga over the years, but in terms of something that i just consider really cool… i’ve always liked holy quite a bit, not really sure why.
29. Favorite summon?
the knights of the round from vii. other than that, probably shiva. i also really like alexander and bahamut.
30. Least favorite battle/boss fight?
i am not a huge fan of the fight against cid raines in xiii. i don’t know why, but that fight took me forever, and multiple tries. just… nope.
31. Do you have any theories or headcanons you swear by (e.g. Rinoa as Sorceress)?
i used to swear by the “squall is dead” theory just because it seemed super interesting, but nah, i love squall too much. he ain’t dead. i think the theory i am very fond of is that vii and x are connected. the theory that the kid shinra in x-2 eventually started developing a technology that would eventually lead to the shinra company in vii. it’s grim, but it’s entirely possible.
32. Are there any fanon theories/headcanons you just can’t believe?
i mean, there are a lot of weird ones that i don’t buy into, but i guess one that i don’t believe is that cloud actually killed aerith (aka he killed her by drowning her because sephiroth’s sword didn’t actually kill her, but paralyzed her instead, or something). i am pretty sure he checked if she was breathing, give him some credit.
34. Which canon couple do you think is most likely to break up sometime after the credits roll?
umm… well, considering that they weren’t really even together, ever, i guess it doesn’t qualify, but i’m gonna say cloud and tifa. i just don’t see how it would work, romantically. i get that there are feelings there, but actually as a functioning couple? idk about that. everyone can think what they want, though, what do i know? my second pick would probably be snow and serah. i find them very cute, but that’s another ship where i can’t see how they would actually work in everyday life.
36. And your least favorite non-canon couple?
please don’t throw cloud and sephiroth at me, i really can’t. i have literally nothing against m/m ships, my favorite non-canon ship is strifehart. i just don’t ship these two and i think cloud deserves soooooo much better. again, just my opinion though.
37. What do you think makes a game a “quintessential” Final Fantasy game? (In other words… some people say the new games don’t feel like Final Fantasy games to them. What FEELS like a Final Fantasy game, to you?)
well, since my first final fantasy was x, i might not be the best one to answer this because my first one wasn’t one of the “classics”, really, but… to me, they all feel like final fantasy. the games don’t have to all be same, nor should they be. but for the sake of the question (which is a very interesting question btw), i think that there needs to be a big bad, and a group of mismatched, troubled heroes who do what they can to defeat that big bad. that’s literally all i need from a final fantasy game for it to feel like a final fantasy. plus, at least one engaging character who i can root for.
38. What things did/would bother you when/if they were put in the games (i.e. what things DON’T belong in Final Fantasy games)?
nothing’s bothered me much yet, but i guess what i don’t really care about are those weird collabs, like xv + assassin’s creed or something. i get why they do it, but ehh. i think those rather “pointless” dlc additions are just that: pointless. i am, however, on board useful and important dlc additions, like story additions or new fighting arenas, like with dissidia nt.
39. What is your favorite prequel or sequel?
my favorite prequel is definitely crisis core, and my favorite sequel is x-2 (does advent children count? if it does, then ac, too).
40. Square-Enix hands over the reins to you, to make a prequel or sequel for any game of your choice, even ones that already have those things. What do you make?
first i make a sequel to vii to see what happened to cloud after advent children, then i make x-3, and then i make a sequel to viii. it absolutely doesn’t need a sequel, but i want it in glorious hd.
42. Worst character design?
no one looks bad, to me anyway, but i guess some characters are pretty weird, like cloud of darkness’ design for dissidia nt. i get that she didn’t really have any clothes on in the original, either, but that crap must be very impractical in battle.
43. What is your favorite weapon?
cloud’s buster sword, and cloud’s fusion sword.
44. What cutscene do you wish you could cut out of any of the games?
the date scene with iris and noctis in xv. why did they do that???
45. What creature do you most wish was real? (Chocobo’s, moogles, etc.)
oh, moogles would be so adorable. so would moombas.
46. Best soundtrack?
i think all the soundtracks are freaking fantastic, final fantasy music is the best music ever created, but i am gonna go with final fantasy xv. my close second pick would be final fantasy viii.
47. Favorite overworld song?
the one from viii, just because it brings back memories of me wandering around for hours, grinding for magic spells and items.
48. Which game had the best opening cutscene?
they are all freaking amazing, honestly. like honestly, all the games are so beautiful and perfect in this aspect, but i guess if i have to choose… probably x. the destruction of zanarkand is pretty powerful stuff, especially for an opening cutscene.
49. Which game had the best ending?
i’ve always said this, and i will always say it: final fantasy x-2. it’s called the perfect ending for a reason. and yes, i mean the ending where tidus comes back and he and yuna are reunited.
51. Favorite non-vocal song?
somnus and somnus ultima from xv. honestly the most gorgeous song i have ever heard in my life.
52. Favorite limit break/overdrive/trance/you-get-the-picture mode and/or ability?
cloud’s omnislash for sure. can’t wait to see that in the remake.
53. Are there any plot-holes or questions you have about any of the games that you wish would be resolved?
nothing that bugs me too much. i guess the one that bothers me the most is that, why was ultimecia’s summon called griever?? has anyone ever explained this? if ultimecia isn’t rinoa, then why?? it worries me. i don’t know why, but it worries me.
54. What scene had the most impact on you?
there are plenty, but here is the top 5: yuna and tidus’ goodbye at the end of x, aerith and zack saying their final farewells to cloud in ac, noctis calling the kings of lucis to help him bring back the dawn and they all proceed to kill him in xv, luna and noctis getting married in the afterlife in xv and that scene at the end of viii when rinoa is pointing to the sky, we think she’s alone and then she turns and squall’s there, smiling for the first time in the entire game. okay, no, i’m cheating. also the ending of crisis core, for sure.
55. Which game did you play first, and when (how old were you, etc.)?
i played final fantasy x when i was around 8 or 9. i got introduced to it by my friend’s sister. we watched her play for days and weeks until i finally asked my dad if i could have the game, too. and i got it, and i loved it. i still do. what a game.
57. What game that has yet to be released are you most looking forward to?
*laughs nervously* final fantasy vii remake. square… please?
58. What do you think of the Final Fantasy fandom in general? Do you think it is a good one? Any complaints?
oh, i think it’s a very good one! i’m not one to get too involved in fandoms anyway, so if there is bad blood, i don’t know about it. but everyone i’ve met has been super friendly, very talented and just genuinely wonderful. no complaints :) ok, maybe one. it doesn’t matter if you ship clerith, zerith, cloti or whatever you want. everyone can ship in peace. it’s all good.
59. Do you have any favorite works of art or fanfiction that you always go back to, and/or basically accept as canon?
i have no shame in admitting that i basically consider it as canon (tho this goes into the kh story, too) that squall and cloud are basically the fathers of roxas and sora, and they’re the best, happiest family ever. i go back to a lot of strifehart fanfiction, and plenty of awesome fanarts i’ve seen.
60. If you got the chance to work at Square Enix making Final Fantasy games, at any job, regardless of your skill set (they offer you paid training), what would you most like to work on or do?
hmm, i think i would like to be a character designer, but i would also really, really love to be involved in the story creation and writing, too. maybe i could do both?
thanks so much again, hon, you’re the greatest and i had the best time answering these :D talking about final fantasy makes me so happy! love you

Pre Song Activity in J’s eyes
God I am so sick of these activities. I watch as Harry eats them up. I am so sick of the 4 eyed weirdo fuck. It used to be fun but everything is just the same and expected. Watching his wanna be friends all the time is driving me nuts. I rather hang with G. G for fucks sake.
“I am gonna go with Sasuke and Aerith because over thick and thin they have stayed together and I think thats really awesome.” The yellow haired demon boy actually had an articulate thought go figure.
Why do people keep voting for them? Does a ps2 controller dating a helium balloon count as a couple?
“Hmmm I wanna go with Joni and Noah for this. I just think they seem to work together besides not having sex and thats like a big fead if you can be together without fucking.”
Hmm least with them I haven’t watched them into the depths of hell like all the cool kids. I can use this vote to justify to harry watching them. Wait fuck him I don’t need to justify shit to him and his narcissistic eyes will go for it so he doesn’t seem weird to say no. He’ll probably even somehow say it was his idea. Why do I hang out with him? He didn’t used to be like this. He wasn’t so bad, we had fun. When the camp was smaller and younger this was more fun. Now he’s an asshole and longs to be one of the cool kids it fucking embarrassing. He keeps stealing grays jacket which I assumine he thinks by wearing makes him super awesome when really its just fucking pathetic.
“I vote for Squall and Cloud hands down.”
Do they even count as a couple? I notice they both look uncomfortable and move a little away from each other. I could see Harrys eye glaring, people aren’t taking this serious enough for him. He pauses the screen.
“JJJZEEEE they are being stupid!” He pouts out his lips and makes me want to punch his smug stupid face.
“What do you want me to do?”
“Drug the next person to say a couple like hmmm.” He pauses like he doesn’t know what hes going to say when I know full well he fucking does. “Lana and Marcus.”
“You just want to fuck Lana so you want people to talk about her, they are barely a couple so that be weird.”
“Ewwee No! Harrys weewee doesn’t think that way.”
I hear Paige in the background asking if he really did just refer to his penis as a “weewee”
“Fuck sorry I forgot your virgin ass doesn’t know how to fuck”
“I had sex with ginny thank you very much!” He does his head back and forth tilt that makes me want to strangle him
“Having sex 500 years ago doesn’t count.”
“Nope Harry wins. Hmm hmm!” The head tilt again
“ARGHHHHH just keep watching I don’t want to drug people maybe someone says it.”
Harry looks disappointed but obliges.
“Ummm I gonna go with Joni and Noah also. There's just something sweet about them that I admire.”
I look around and notice that Gray seems pissed over this. “Hey Harry look at Gray” I zoom in on him.
Harry at the sound of his crushes name perks up and leans in to look.
“Heehee he is! We should drug Joni to come on to him and then just when they are about to fuck make her stop! I bet he’ll rape the stupid cunt!” Harry continues to laugh at what I am guessing he thinks is a very funny joke.
I sigh and play around doing a quick zoom over the rest of the people in the circle. Most look bored or stoned. Thank god Harry and me started not allowing everyone to participate in these or it would take all fucking day.
I look over at Thomas and Memo both happily doing what they want to do. How I envy them. I have been doing this so long I don’t even remember what I used to do for fun.
Tifa is finishing up talking about why she voted for Colin and Terra. A couple so genuinely happy people seem to forget about them. Everyone seems so fueled by drama and they aren’t entertaining enough for people. I look around and notice they didn’t make it to activity. I click around and find them playing in a river together. Laughing and happy. Colin picks her up and spins her around. Kissing her gently before setting her down. Sigh. I look back at activity. Holy fuck the bitch is still talking. Someone musta interrupted her or does she really not know when to shut the fuck up. You’d think getting raped so many times would put her in her place but no it empowered the dumb bitch. Harrys eyes are glued to the screen in a gross possessive way. He looks like a torturer watching his victims scream for help. A douchey smile playing on his face. I hate him.
“Shut the fuck up you cow, I have better things to do”
Thank you Sasuke
“Like what jerk off.” Tifa sneers back
“Sure jerk off and cum right in my girlfriends face. She uses it as moisturizer.” He winks at Aerith and she lets out her bimbo laugh “oh Sasuke!!”
Harry bounces in “OKAY NA-EXT!”
Oh fuck its Jenn. Why did we put two shitty people next to each other?
“Harry can we skip her?
He clicks around “Done and Done hm hm!”
Aiden is next okay good hes usually quick and entertaining.
“I think you all suck ass and no one deserves my vote” He crosses his arms definitely.
:”Umm no thats not how this works” Harry chimes “Pick.”
Aiden glazes around looking for someone to target. “Fine. I vote Sasuke and Aerith they deserve each other.”
“Sasuke! Look we won!”
“We didn’t win you dumb bitch what do you mean we deserve each other” I see Sasuke turn on his sharnagin.
“Oh you know your both shitty and shitty fucks deserve each other.”
“Your talking big game for someone who couldn’t handle a lil break up. Did Booboo lose his mind over that? JENN DON'T GO I LOVE YOU BAM BAM. YOU’LL ALL I HAVE STAB STAB. Does booboo need a hug.”
Aidens eyes also goes red and he stands up grabs Jenn and starts walking away
“Umm no you can’t leave the activity!” Harry whines at them.
Aiden doesn’t look back and Jenn has a look of a scared doe but also like my prince is saving me.
“Just let them go they already went”
Harry begins to protest but Rikku starts talking before he can
“I think the best is me and Zack”
Someone yells they aren’t even dating anymore. Another yells how they didn’t know you could vote for yourself
“I’ll allow it” Harry says. This is the only time he has power and he loves reminding people of whose in charge.
“We were so cute and awesome and we are they best! Okay I am done!”
I look around and count only a handful of people left. Thank God

COMPLETED: Final Fantasy VII Remake
Tumblr media
The task is done. FF7R is finished. And I hate it. Not in a “Why did I waste my money on this trash” way, but a “What have you done to one of my top 10 games” way. I feel like I read the book and am now watching the HBO show going, “well that’s not right…” If this were a review and I was grading the game, I’d give it a 7/10. Graphically, the character models are beautiful, but the repetitive and narrow environments can be shockingly low quality at times. The gameplay is pretty good. It’s definitely an evolution of Crisis Core, but when you’re in red health, and your best chance to cast heal is to go put yourself face-to-face with a towering monster...eh, it needed work. I liked the side quests, but they could be awkwardly placed. The characters are not what I remembered. That’s not necessarily bad, but at times I had a hard time understanding their motivations. The added sections and elongated sequences were a major pain point, which also affected the story. Ultimately, I think Final Fantasy VII Remake’s development team had an impossible task, and they did their best...mostly.
So, last we left off, we’re all hanging in Aerith’s old room. Super weird, since in the original the Turks capture the team and Avalanche faces President Shinra, face-to-face. This was a great moment in the original: “good try losers, but we got you!” Shinra...I don’t remember what he says, but it pisses off Barret. We’re then taken to prison cells where Cloud talks to different groups through the prison walls. You get some character development plus the awkward conversation of Aerith saying he promised one date to Cloud. Tifa overhears and is like “Well excuse me”.  It’s a good scene of the team coming together and much of the interpersonal drama coming out in the open. This is where the team truly coalesces.
Remake, though...it’s awkward. We see more hooded ghosts and then freely walk out. Speaking of the ghosts, looks like I was almost right. They’re “Destiny” trying to make sure things play out. And they’re stupid. Probably gonna give them their own post. We then go to the Jenova container. Here, Hojo is using Jenova-juice to make monsters and shit. I didn’t hate this sequence, but it’s a whole new chapter and I was done. Like, we’re supposed to leave the cells and see a dead Shinra--not spend an hour plus wandering more hallways. It was neat how they took some of the weird monsters from the original and made them meaningful here as Hojo experiments. And I liked seeing Tifa and Aerith work as a team, developing a friendship, instead of a rivalry over Cloud’s affections. I’d almost prefer they had left romance out of it, just focus on everyone being friends. It’s fun having Red XIII around, and it was probably wise to include this new Hojo section so that he becomes a part of the team--since the game is about to end. But he wasn’t super defined as a character. He’s just kinda mopey. How did he get here, what did Hojo want with him? President Shinra is hanging off the side of the building. Barret talks to him, saves him, and then makes a few odd requests. Shinra grabs a gun and kinda challenges Barret on his ideals. This is all awkward. Barret’s past with Shinra is very personal. He’s not wrong to want to save the planet, but at this moment, Barret is much more “make Shinra hurt”. And since the remake doesn’t explain why Barret is this way, or show Barret as an unreasonable hothead, it’s just...awkward. Then we see Sephiroth kill the President. I get why they did this: very cinematic. But there was something startling about finding Shinra’s body in the original. Your main enemy/antagonist is already dead. Who killed him? Why? Are they a friend? All great and terrifying questions that are answered at the right times in the original. But since this is a partial-remake, we don’t have time for all that: so, stabby-stabby. Then they do the smartest change they’ve made in this game: you fight Jenova. It was always quite confusing in the original. Jenova was having to be transported by “Sephiroth”--so it always seemed weird to me that you fight Jenova. But then...Sephiroth was Jenova...kinda...need to check the wiki on that.
Then we have the boss fight with Rufus. The original handled this transition better. After finding a dead Shinra with the Sephiroth’s sword, Rufus’s helicopter lands. The gang does one of my favorite things and introduces themselves from their diverse backgrounds: Ex-Soldier, Flower Girl, Avalanche, Science experiment. Rufus is unimpressed and gives a speech about how he’s gonna be a bigger ass than his dad. It was a good intro to a new villain. Remake...it’s awkward. BUT I love how Tifa comes to Cloud’s rescue at the end of the boss fight. FINALLY the game recognizes how badass Tifa is. Cloud, ex-soldier, still needs saving. He can’t survive as a loner. And this moment beautifully illustrates that. Good move.
Before that, we do see Sephiroth carry Jenova out of the tower. But then there’s a flash, revealing a hooded figure with a tattoo. Think we saw this before. They’re really showing their hand here, but given the limited scope of the remake, I get why they had to. I’m mostly annoyed they didn’t do more set up. I know they showed Cloud’s neighbor being hooded, but I think they could have done more with this. I’m also curious if Cloud is going to have a tattoo under his shoulder armor??   Soo, I couldn’t wait to do the motorcycle event and end this thing. But we had to do a bunch of cut scenes...took forever. Then boom--we’re off. Similar to how the first sequence went, but the helicopter was a nice addition. I was impressed they did the boss fight purefly on the motorcycle. It kinda kicked my ass, I almost died. Luckily, I survived. Good fun. We get to the end of the highway and I’m ready to put down the controller and pat myself on the back. But then I’m allowed to move. As I walk forward, I see a “rest bench” to refill my HP/MP. Umm...this is concerning. I think we get a hint of Sephiroth--and so I imagine he will be the final boss fight. I’m ok with this, as it’s probably what needs to happen for the story. Instead, there’s this long BS about the Destiny ghosts and how they’re shaping the future and, for some reason I didn’t quite pick up on, we have to literally fight destiny. ...like...why?
So, huge interdimensional boss fight with an almost formless creature and its minions. Reminds me a lot of SIN from Final Fantasy 10. I didn’t like Final Fantasy 10. So I’m not liking this. I don’t get why we’re fighting Destiny, I don’t get how we can fight Destiny--like this is some bullshit I don’t need right now. While as intriguing as the debris-hopping is (reminiscent of Advent Children), I hated this stupid, tacked-on boss fight. I don’t see the point of Destiny being involved (gonna have a separate post about this). Then we defeat the stupid Destiny monster and still have to fight Sephiroth. Like, skip Destiny and just do an exciting interdimensional Sephiroth fight!!! I defeat Sephiroth...or a Sephiroth...and end up in an interdimensional space that reminds me of the final boss from the original. I imagine this is intentional. Sephiroth invites Cloud to join him against Destiny (very Vader/Luke) and Cloud says, “never”. Which is a little confusing, because Cloud literally just finished killing Destiny. And then the game closes with a cinematic I half paid attention to.
From what I can tell, Destiny Whispers killed Wedge for some reason, and Briggs is left alive. To hell with Jessie I guess? I did like Wedge coming back to help out. I love their choice of voice actor. But his inclusion has been an awkward ride.
As the game was ending, I was feeling...not great. I wasn’t really happy with it. But then they offered the Chapter Select. This changes things a bit. I can “control” my experience on a replay, and I imagine I can kinda punch my way through quite easily since I get to keep my equipment and levels. I may actually replay this game, but I still favor the original. A friend expressed a desire for them to truly remake the original--but I was on board for improvements. I recant that now. I wish they had stayed truer to the original and not tried to give me such an epic chunk.

CLOUD AND AERITH IN FF7: THEIR MOMENTS IN BETWEEN
I have a few more metas which are relatively shorter than the rest, so I decided to compile them here.
CLOUD’S RARE SMILE: ONLY WITH AERITH
At the start of FFVII Cloud posed as a "cool ex-SOLDIER", and kept up a cocky front. After it is revealed that he was never in SOLDIER, and he begins to act like himself, but he still doesn't show his emotions very much. The only time he laughs in FFVII is during a conversation with Aerith at the start of the story, when Jenova is still in control of his consciousness. ~Cloud’s profile; FFVII 10th Anniversary Ultimania
This is very significant because it proves that the only time Cloud laughs/smiles is with Aerith. The only time he showed his emotions like this was with Aerith. Nothing after it manages to get the same reaction from the game’s hero, not even being with his supposed childhood friend.
When talking about the "rare smile" which Aerith brings out in Cloud during the game, the FFVII Ultimania Omega says that "there seems to be something between them". ~Aerith's info page, FFVII Ultimania Omega
Cloud’s smile is so rare that when Aerith manages to make Cloud smile in the game, it’s enough to give an impression of a special connection between them. Take in consideration that this happened early on in the game. In fact, it happened just moments after they introduced themselves to each other while on the run from the Turks.
For this brief moment between Cloud and Aerith to be stated in the Ultimania as one which implies “something between them” this early into their time together, it is rather telling of how far their connection can grow as they get to know more about each other – something that becomes obvious as the game progressed.
THE AIRSHIP DREAM: A PROMISE FOR THE FUTURE
There is a moment in the game where Cloud and Aerith talk about an airship at Junon while the party is in disguise on board a ship bound for Costa del Sol.
Aerith (in a SOLDIER uniform): Umm.... It's me, Aerith. Hey, Cloud. Did you see the Airship at Junon? Cloud: ...I heard it was big, but I didn't expect it to be THAT big. Aerith: That was REALLY something. Hey, do you think I could get on it?
Option 1: I'll take you someday Option 2: I dunno...
Cloud: I'll take you someday...keep hoping. Aerith: Wow! I'm really looking forward to it! Let's ride the Airship together, OK? Promise, promise me! ~FFVII Script
Aerith is obviously in awe of the airship they saw and wanted to experience getting on it. The player then gets an option of what Cloud’s response will be. If you choose to offer to take Aerith on it someday, it’s considered a promise.
What is memorable in this scene, though it is optional, is that Cloud and Aerith made plans for the future. This shows how they had hoped to succeed in their endeavor and someday make Aerith’s wish come true. This promise will be a painful memory later on in the game because it was never, and will never be fulfilled.
THE PROMISED DATE: A MAGICAL NIGHT
In the game, Cloud and Aerith not only get one, but two dates. The first was the aforementioned date at Green Park. The second one is the unforgettable fireworks gondola date in Gold Saucer. Most memorable on this date is when Aerith voices her wish to find the “real” Cloud after noticing how the Cloud present with her wasn’t the real him.
Beneath a quote of Aerith's words in the gondola:
When Aerith thinks of Cloud and Zack's similarities, she sees through to the fact that the present Cloud is not the real Cloud. Her meaningful words like saying "I'm searching for you" and "I want to meet you" mean that she has discovered the existence of the real Cloud, which he's not aware of himself.. ~FFVII Ultimania Omega, pg. 31
"I'm looking for you."..."So you won't have a beakdown." - what Aerith told Cloud had many deep meanings. Aerith detected that the present Cloud is not the real him during their encounters. She knows it because of her mysterious, inherent ability. ~FFVII Ultimania Omega, pg. 29
During the date, Aerith voices her feelings for Cloud. ~Story Playback, 20th Anniversary Ultimania
And although you can get any of the other party members to go on a date with Cloud, Cloud’s date with Aerith is the canon one. It is mentioned several times throughout official releases.
In Aerith’s case, if you play the game normally, the partner that generally comes will be Aerith. ~ Dismantled
#111: The Planet’s largest amusement park is run by Dio. Cloud and company visit this place many times in their battle. They meet Cait Sith here. A promised date that ends in a magical night. In the city of desire that floats above the sands, the light memory of the two people is asleep even now…
Aerith: I think I must have seen him again, in you… But you’re different. Things are different… No, Cloud… I’m searching for you… ~Final Fantasy Art Collection
Oh, Cloud… I enjoyed our date at the Gold Saucer. The view from the gondola that night was really beautiful. I’ll never forget it. I’ll never forget you, Cloud… ~Aerith (inside Cloud’s dream); Dismantled
This just goes to show how much Aerith valued finding out about the “real” Cloud because she developed genuine interest in the true character of Cloud, all of which I have mentioned above.
CLOUD’S SLIP-UP: A HIDDEN DESIRE?
During the bonfire in Cosmo Canyon, a certain telling conversation occurs between Cloud and Aerith. Take into consideration that the player cannot proceed unless Cloud speaks with everyone around the bonfire.
Aerith: I learned a lot. The elders taught me many things. About the Cetra... And the Promised Land... (She looks down) I'm...... alone..... I'm all alone now... Cloud: But I'm..... we're here for you, right? (She shakes her head) Aerith: I know. I know, but... I am the only.... Cetra. Cloud: Does that mean we can't help? ~FFVII Script
Aerith had just learned about the race of the Cetra, about her ancestors. Finding out she was alone and feeling down about it, Cloud goes to console her. He slips up by at first saying he was there for Aerith, but stops midway and instead says they were all there. This implies Cloud’s inner wish of being there for Aerith to support her.
Maiden of the Planet also shows Aerith affectionately remembering this scene.
She looked up into the sky like the time she sat beside Cloud around the kindling fire in Cosmo Canyon. ~Maiden of the Planet
The creators of FF7 could have opted not to have that line in the game. This conversation between Cloud and Aerith was about Aerith feeling alone because she had just discovered that she was the only Cetra left. Cloud, in an attempt to console her, tries to convey that she wasn’t really alone – their comrades would be there for her, to support and help her should the need arise. So why put that slip-up in the conversation if the whole exchange was about reassuring Aerith? The point of sneaking in that slip-up of Cloud’s was to push the concept of a romance between Cloud and Aerith.
It is quite intriguing, actually. The slip-up cliché is widely used for romance fiction. As an avid reader of romance manga and novels, I’ve read lots which have the same dialogue used between romantic pairs.
A FOREBODING PREDICTION: A WARNING OF LOSS
In Gold Saucer, the party meets Cait Sith, a fortune teller, and is asked to give a fortune telling regarding Sephiroth. What Cloud got was a warning of trouble ahead.
The fortune telling with deep meaning.
Cait Sith’s prediction about where to find Sephiroth gives three answers. Disregarding the first two, the noticeable one is the third which becomes the chance for him to join the party - “What you’re looking for will be yours, but you’ll lose something very dear.”
As the storyline moves to the event in the Forgotten City, the “something very dear” can be read as losing Aerith, and is also a hint about the event where Cloud’s searching for his self breaks when they reach the Northern Crater. ~Final Fantasy VII Omega, pg. 120
What is revealed from Cait Sith’s fortune-telling:
Cait Sith’s prediction about Sephiroth’s whereabouts is, “What you pursue will be yours, but you will lose something very dear.” Can the “something very dear” possibly indicate that Cloud will lose Aerith in the Forgotten City afterwards? Or maybe that Cloud will lose his self in a maze of confusion. ~ Final Fantasy 20th Anniversary Ultimania
In both quotes that reference Cait Sith’s prediction about finding Sephiroth, it is Aerith who is connected to the description of “something very dear”, though it also mentions the possibility of interpreting it as losing his sense of self; quite possibly, maybe it is both. This prediction becomes true as, in the process of finding Sephiroth, Aerith was lost to Cloud, along with his mental stability.
What I’d like to focus on is the fact that both the Omega and the Ultimania’s allude to Aerith as one Cloud holds dear. So, what does this mean in the grand scheme of things?
The word ‘dear’ (as an adjective) is defined as:
1. highly valued; precious ~Merriam-Webster Dictionary
2. regarded with deep affection ~Oxford Dictionary
3. loved or liked very much ~Cambridge Dictionary
In all of those definitions, one thing is clear about someone who is described as ‘dear’ to another person: it involves deep emotions.
This could mean one of two things:
1. At the time that the prediction was given by Cait Sith, Cloud was already holding feelings of deep romantic affection for Aerith, making her someone very dear to Cloud.
2. Cloud’s romantic feelings for Aerith grew deeper as the game progressed and he ultimately falls deeply in love with her, regarding her as someone very dear to him, by the time they find Sephiroth.
No matter which implication you choose, the fact remains that Aerith is someone whom Cloud values as precious to him, someone whom he feels deep emotions for. So much so that losing Aerith is suggested as a possible interpretation of Cait Sith’s prediction of “losing something very dear”.
THE FINAL FORTUNE: THE PAIN OF WHAT CAN NEVER BE
Before parting with Cait Sith, Aerith tries to cheer him up by asking for a fortune – one of Cloud and Aerith’s compatibility.
Aerith: Why don't you read our fortunes?  Cait Sith: Say, that's right... I haven't done it in a while, huh? I'm so excited. Right or wrong, I'm still the same 'ol me. Now, what should I predict?  Aerith: Hmm, let's see how compatible Cloud and I are! Cait Sith: That'll cost ya. Exactly one date! Here I go! This isn't good. I can't say it. Poor Tifa. Aerith: No! Tell me! I promise I won't get mad! Cait Sith: Is that so? Then I'll tell you. Looks good. You are perfect for each other! Aerith's star and Cloud's star! They show a great future! Cloud, I'll be your matchmaker, preacher... I'll do whatever you want me to! You just call me when it all happens! ~FFVII Script
The last fortune telling from Cait Sith
After discovering that Cait Sith's body is replaceable, he tells one last fortune about Cloud and Aerith's affinity.
He says that "Aerith's star and Cloud's star! They promise a great future!" After that, it will become a sad prediction if we get to know what happens afterward. Yet, if we catch the meaning of their "future" from another angle, then we can see hope.....perhaps.
Caption: Cait Sith's lines which seem to predict Cloud and Aerith's wedding now becomes more painful. ~ FFVII Ultimania Omega; pg. 151
It is intriguing how a prediction of Cloud and Aerith’s romantic compatibility leads to one of a wedding, is it not? Why would SQEN put this in here if not for the purpose of making it obvious to players of the deep romantic connection between Cloud and Aerith?
Cloud and Aerith’s future was predicted to be great. If Aerith had lived, how great of a life would they have had together? But alas, it was not to be – Aerith was taken away from Cloud before it could happen. This prediction becomes all the more painful because it never came to be.
But, Omega gives us hope of this future if it was seen from another angle. A foreshadowing of a reunion in the afterlife, perhaps? More on this later on.

FF7 DEBATE CLUB : Part 1
Tumblr media
Disclaimer: This was inspired by my “WHAT TYPE OF STUDENTS WOULD THE FFVII CHARACTERS BE IN SCHOOL??” Posts. For more context, you can go read those if you like! I hope you all enjoy and my inbox is always open! Feel free to request imagines and tell me your thoughts on things.
I hope you enjoy @birdblacksocialclub !! :)
_____________
The defensive members gradually collected in the empty, dry classroom that’d soon feature all types of dilly-dallying and possible throat-clutching arguments. The first attendant was a young and drowsy Sephiroth. He remained punctual with every meeting and never failed at being the first to enter the room. A quality Genesis truly despised, as he felt HE was the main event and Seph’s early-bird tendencies were outshining his presence. Thus, it was another reason for Sephiroth to stay on his game.
Non-Ironically, Genesis made his appearance with a raised chin and firm shoulders, the usual, confident stance.
“Well, hello there.” He began.
“Genesis...” Seph returned the greeting.
“It’s unfortunate that you’re here first, like always, but If it’s the Goddess’s will, I’ll live with it.”
“As you should.”
Genesis’s eyebrow twitched in slight irritation but he carried on, seating himself behind Sephiroth.
A tensioned silence resonated in the room for a while.
“Hmm, you’re quite soundless today.” Gen finally spoke again.
“Just as you are loveless.”
A tiny smirk flared from the red-head’s lips.
“You know me too well. It seems you’ve figured I’ve picked the topic for today’s discussion, hmm?”
“Again, the topic is not up to you. It’s up to our instructor. And Genesis, even a deaf man would know you’re up to no good.” He spoke, throwing his silver locks behind his shoulder.
“Dammit. What did I tell you about that!” Genesis yelled, moving Sephiroth’s hair off of his desk. “I might just cut it and leave you bald for school the next morning.”
A chuckle fell from Seph’s lips.
The door creaked with an ear-splitting noise, signaling the arrival of their teacher. He settled his books on the dumbapple-colored desk. And with a clear of the throat, he said
“Genesis and Sephiroth...man, am I glad to see you two. You two are my fiercest competitors, keeping this club alive. Like really, I’d call for the Shinra helicopters if you two were to resign.”
Slightly concerned gazes held the boys’ faces.
“Hah, Just kidding! You should’ve saw your guys’ faces!”
Sephiroth spoke to relieve the weird situation.
“Yeah...anyway, Reno, I was just gonna say....I’m not really-“
Just then, Cloud Strife appeared; another fierce competitor.
“-feeling it today- you know what. Nevermind!”
Cloud sat two seats away from Sephiroth in the same row.
Best believe, the Nibelheim boys are always going head-to-head in Debate Club. Outside of club, they’re quite peaceful and social. But when school work has already worn them out for the day and there is added passion for the premise of their arguments, things get pretty tense.
“Good Afternoon, Cloud.”
“Not today, Sephiroth.” He replied, not even looking over at him.
Genesis leaned over his desk to whisper in Sephiroth’s ear.
“If he’s a puppet, you’re the ventriloquist.”
The silver boy rolled his eyes with an attractive smile. “Very well.”
“That’s the spirit!” Gen said.
Truth is, Genesis loves the drama that comes with Debate club. That’s why he’s the self-proclaimed drama king. He only wanted to hype Seph up so he could push past his drowsiness and argue with him and Cloud.
More students began filling up the room, but not too much. There we only like 12 members that engaged in this weekly mess.
Zack, Angeal, and Aerith snuck in as well to get a taste of the tea for today.
Zack is actually in a language club. It was an impulse decision for what he described as “broadening his horizons”. He said it’d probably be a good thing for him to learn French in case of a future mission he’d have in his dream spot as a first-class SOLDIER.
Angeal was also in a Spanish learning club. And as expected, he exceeds at it. His intermediate level and sexy accent grabs everybody’s heart in a way they’ve never felt before. No, seriously, people have swooned and fainted before. But he joins occasionally to save himself from the after school bickering.
And in Aerith’s case, Yoga club was cancelled for the day so she just decided to join and sit with her friends.
Their (somehow hired) teacher Reno began class promptly.
“Alright, everybody. I have a gratifying topic for you all today. It’s so temper-inducing that your brain won’t be able to handle it.”
“My brain can’t take this shit as it is”. Cloud mumbled under his breath, earning a few laughs.
“What was that, Mr. Stife??” he questioned furiously.
“I see you’re living up to your last name. Save it for the subject!”
He carried on.
“The subject is-“
“I have the PERFECT topic!” Genesis interrupted.
“I- did I ask for your input, Genesis??”
The drama king fluttered his eyelashes. “No, yet you always receive it, don’t you?”
Reno sighed. “Look, is it LOVELESS again?
“No.”
“Let’s hear it then.”
“Is Vincent Valentine, the former Turk, a hero or an Incompetent-
“Alright, we’ll have none of that. No shaming of the turks is permitted.” Reno cut him off.
“Anyways, my topic was “Should Shinra continue to experiment on future SOLDIERs to give them superhuman abilities or should they train them as natural human beings?””
“Sounds like a good topic to me.” Cloud responded.
“Same,” Angeal joined in “This seems like a topic where I won’t have too much trouble trying to pull these three from each other’s throats.
“Good, before we begin, don’t forget the rules! All weapons and devices should be in the weapon closet which I see most of you HAVEN’T DONE!”
At the mention of the said closet, everybody directed their attention to it. It had various scratches and dents, complimenting it’s dusty tone. And how could we forget the sizable hole on top of it. It emerged the moment Sephiroth tried shoving his masamune in the closet. Yeah, never again.
Everyone exited their desks, one by one, placing their weapons in the closet.
“Hey, what about your tasing rod, Reno?” Zack asked.
“I’m the teacher. I can do as I please, thank you.” He answered, classically.
“And don’t forget, we need an equal amount of girls and boys on each side. Too much testosterone on one side can cause hands being thrown as we’ve seen from previous experiences.”
“Umm I know I’m not really in this club and all but us girls can equally throw hands just for the fact that there are NO female SOLDIERs.” Aerith added.
“Fair point. You must join this conversation.” Sephiroth agreed.
“That’s my girl!” Zack praised while giving his girlfriend a quick peck on the cheek.
Reno let each of the students pick a side and then he split them into two groups.
“Everybody ready??”
“Yes!”
To Be Continued...
