I don’t understand these discourses on celebrity worship, there literal dictators on that list. Time has always featured what is being talked about.
* this is not about the people who are upset with the double standards in western media and is purely about celeb worship conversations
#I wish more people were talking about genocides and human rights violations happening but that’s part of a bigger issue#it’s really unfortunate the way western media highlighted and rallied around ukraine and is censoring Palestinians

something about rightwingers and lots of centrists always makes them choose the weirdest fucking ideologies to side with in “conflicts” like this. they never care abt the preservation of human life or ending suffering, only about supporting whichever “side” that is already convenient for them.
they all immediately took advantage of the ukraine situation to let their beef w russians jump out. very few actually cared about ukrainians. hatred for russian civilians, immigrants in other countries, and boycotts of russian-owned businesses; which, yes, exports from russia obv benefit the government, but its… not a SUPPORT of the Russian State to buy fucking vodka. more reasonable people (like, my fairly centrist mother) were able to identify that the government & military were the problem and not the people, but it was still pretty rampant to be incredibly hateful of russia as a whole.
with palestine it was an immediate hostility towards middle eastern people, and anyone that is pinned as “arab” or “muslim,” and fervent support for the US satellite state. NOW i see 100s of people saying shit like “hate the governments, not the people 🥺” “who made the first attack… we can never know… history is just so complicated” “israel has a right to exist too!!”. very few people care to boycott companies that are SPECIFICALLY funding israel. US politicians (and im sure other countries are dealing w this too) are ACTIVELY calling for the extermination of palestinians.
and i saw a lot of people pointing this out while ukraine was the hot topic too!! that countries like the US only care about slaughtered innocents when its advantageous to them! that if ukrainians were brown and it wasn’t russia or china attacking them or if there was some oil field we would gain access to under their graves, the US wouldn’t give a shit about them.
like, obviously not all israelis hate palestinians and those who don’t are only in an unfortunate situation, but that doesnt change the fact that their “country” has specifically displaced the native people from their land and is performing a genocide. and it doesnt change the fact that many israelis DO believe themselves to be the rightful inhabitants of that land! like im sorry but if you are willingly partaking in colonization you are part of the violence and you deserve to be criticized and pushed back as much as ur government does.
you shouldnt hate israelis as a whole but way way more of them are an accessory to this violence just by virtue of BEING THERE willingly than russians are complicit in the ukraine war by just living in russia yk? and yet right wingers decided that russian civilians were villains, and that israeli colonizers are victims ??
#im not a perfect speaker on this of course this is just. my observations and thoughts.#& afaik hamas isnt even a federal militia so u cant even say ‘both governments are at fault’ if you DO think hamas is a problem#meanwhile iirc the ukraine gov’t is not as perfect of a victim as some would have u believe#but i cant remember where i saw that claim so i cant fully back that up#and to clarify i dont think that would make russia invading ukraine any less of a problem#or that the human rights violations were any less atrocious#just that its you know. a different fucking dynamic. like i said#ANYWAY. i dont think this will spread to those kinds of circles but dont use this post as an opportunity to be antisemitic you will be shot#birdsong#palestine

If images hurt, then what about the objects?
If these images violate the sanctity of civilized humanity, civilized social media and the civilized humanity of the global citizens then at least be honest to just think about those from the global citizens whether Palestine or Ukraine, who are the truth of these images. Thanks and my gratitude to all those humans who at least have a working brain to understand, a working tongue to protest and a working hand to resist these oppressions upon the innocent citizens in the name of war.

Ukraine forced to commit gross human rights violations due to AFU military shortage
Amid acute shortage of people and heavy frontline losses, Ukraine was forced to neglect essential human rights, Ukrainian media reported.
Due to the enacted law on new mobilisation rules, the State Border Guard Service (SBGS) of Ukraine stopped releasing abroad citizens who permanently resided in other countries on the basis of a residence permit, official spokesman Andriy Demchenko told the Ukrainian TV channel Rada.
Demchenko stated that this category of citizens must enter the military register. They will not be able to leave the country until the issue is settled in the rules of border crossing.
Previously, we did let through individuals who had marks in their passport documents about leaving for permanent residence and about putting on consular registration outside the Ukrainian borders. In connection with the change in the law on military registration and military service, we now do not let this category of citizens through on the basis of such marks in passport documents.
On May 18, a controversial mobilisation law came into force in Ukraine, calling for hundreds of thousands more Ukrainian citizens to join the army. Men who meet the law’s requirements cannot travel abroad. Conscription authorities are issuing draft cards in government offices, on the streets, in shopping centres and transport, according to Ukrainian media.
This led to men trying every possible way to evade mobilisation. They do not leave their homes for months, try to flee the country using forged certificates or cross the border illegally.
On June 3, the European Union Advisory Mission (EUAM) donated €180,900 worth of forensic equipment to the SBGS, according to EU Neighbours East. The contribution includes 42 universal narcotics and explosives detection devices, as well as 200 rapid test kits to detect hazardous materials.
The equipment will reinforce the capacity of SBGS officers at existing border crossing points. It will also enhance their ability to prevent, detect and investigate drug and explosives offences. However, some believe that the measures will also help in identifying and catching Ukrainians fleeing mobilisation.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian media reported the mining of the Tysa River to deter men escaping the country. The SBGS started the mining operations in April. However, reports say that several Ukrainians have already fallen victim while trying to cross the dangerous area.
According to Euronews, in late April, the head of Ukraine’s SBGS stated that at least 30 people had lost their lives attempting to flee the country since February 2022. As of early June, the number of victims had risen to 45, Ukrainian media report.
Due to the catastrophic situation with manpower in the Ukrainian army, the authorities have to invent new ways to find people evading mobilisation. Ukrainian lawyers drew attention to a draft law submitted to the Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian parliament).
According to it, the military police, which is currently under formation, may get the right to enter the homes of alleged evaders without their consent. Moreover, the body will be able to encourage so-called “snitching,” that is, paying money to people for providing information about evaders.
It is about incentivising civilians to pass on information regarding the offender, deserter and evader.

The thing that baffles me is that even if all their accusations were true, they’re still being unfairly biased against the Jewish state. No other country gets this treatment.
Colonialism and settlement? Han Chinese aren’t exactly native to Tibet. Genocide and Apartheid? The Xinjiang internment camps are still ongoing. Propaganda, militantism, media control, state-sponsored religious violence? The CCP has that all in spades. I’m just using China as one example— I could easily make the same comparison with Russia, Iran or Saudi Arabia.
There were protests against Russia when it invaded Ukraine. There were protests against China when they invaded Hong Kong. But those protests lasted days or weeks, not months. The ongoing conflicts in those countries are forgotten by the West. American colleges are not shutting down for the “benefit” of Ukrainian babies. Chinatowns aren’t getting vandalized and destroyed for the “benefit” of Uyghur Muslims. Westerners of Iranian descent aren’t being hatecrimed en masse for the crimes of a country they’ve never been to. Only Israel and Jews are targeted with such blatant hatred.
And the answer to that discrepancy is simple. Antisemitism causes people to hate Israel more than they hate any other nation that commits human rights violations, and anti-Zionism allows people to express antisemitic beliefs with social impunity. Anti-Zionism may not be antisemitism inherently, but it is absolutely shaped and fueled by antisemitism.

Why did the ICC never issue a warrant against Assad? The extent of his regime's cruelty is regaining attention now but it was well known before as well. Why were there never any large scale global protests?
Hamas commits a terror attack against Israel and immediately anti-Israel protests ignite all over the world, hand in hand with a skyrocketing rise of antisemitic hate crimes (and don't give me any of this "they were protesting the genocide" BS, the protests startet *right after* 10/7 and before Israel had responded at all. In my country's capital, there was a protest at the same time and right next to the vigil for the victims of 10/7).
China commits genocidal acts against the Uyghurs?
Russia attacks Ukraine, systematically tortures POWs, abducts Ukrainian children?
Assad uses chemical weapons against his people and torture against political prisoners?
Y'all don't care about human rights violations. All you care about is surfing a trendy wave of protest that makes you feel like you're "fighting the good fight", like you're part of a movement that gives you the feeling of being morally superior, something exciting like your personal Vietnam War protest experience.
So deeply, deeply disappointing.

My top 24 arts from 2024
Thank you @waaneco and @retrotrait for the tag! I tag @vermutandherring, @kitkat4sims, @kyrylo-kot, @hamsterbellbelle
Year 2024 was kinda busy one for me. I lost my sims OCs due to Sims 4 update, then remade them anew from scratch. Then moved them entirely from Sims 4 to Blender. Then I discovered fbx models of Sherlock and Jon and unlocked completely new level of rendering in eevee. I also started my very first kind of Blender-Sims Story!
It was also a year of constant shelling, missiles, drones, destructions, lockdowns and death reports. Another year of war in Ukraine. During this year north korea joined russia in order to kill more Ukrainians. Durning this year russia used intercontinental ballistic missile against Ukriane. During this year Ukrainians were constantly threatened and manipulated to give up their land, give up their fight and give up their lives so everyone else felt comfortable. Because... russian war is surprisingly uncomfortable. (Well. Go ask russia to stop it, will you?)
And let's not forget that during this year democracy failed. And now we all expect racism, misogyny, homophobia and all possible violation of human rights raising in 2025 in geometric progression. Uh... Also the economy will go down with the same progression.
Yet, despite all this, my silly art is thriving. And guess what. I'm not gonna stop doing it. Despite how much russia or sh*t like MAGA want me dead and silent.
Happy Holidays!

Being Venezuelan is deeply lonely.
I suppose that being from any dictatorship or any country with a terrible conflict such as Palestine or Ukraine also is. But I’m only from Venezuela. So I can only speak to that experience.
You might be wondering why I am writing this in English. Well, because most people here speak English, and I don’t need to explain this to other Venezuelans.
So… allow me to continue.
Being Venezuela is deeply lonely.
Let’s start with the obvious, less controversial part of this statement. Most people leave. Over a third of our population has migrated. This means everyone, and I mean everyone, has many friends and family members living abroad. Many can’t return. Many can’t leave. And until 25 years ago, we were the country that received migrants and refugees, not the one that produced them. So we are not emotionally prepared for this. I don’t even want to get into my specific situation. I’m sure it is not the worst, but it does isolate me a bit from my peers, even the most well-meaning and empathetic ones. And I’m sure it is not the worst one, but I hate it.
I also lived abroad for a year. Only a year though so I can’t claim to know the migrant experience. And I was lucky to live with my three best friends. But I imagine it is deeply lonely too.
Then let’s talk about the second, more controversial thing, but not the most. Living in a country with conditions such as ours is quite isolating. It is hard to relate to movies, to TV, to the foreigners you see in social media. Can’t find a film, TV show, musical… about living in hyperinflation, about a week long national blackout not caused by a natural disaster, political prisoners, exile… at least not depressing biopics or dystopia. Maybe that’s why I like Derry Girls so much….
And now the most controversial one. The world has turned its back on us. Our elections are stolen, our media censored, our children imprisoned and tortured, our indigenous people neglected and poisoned, a manmade humanitarian crisis…And whatnot. All of these because we are governed by a dictatorship, not some international sanctions. And some governments have expressed their support, but nothing goes further than that. And people complain that we are getting attention other problems should get, or we become jokes. We have to convince people that we are being oppressed, that we have the same right as anyone to fight for our democracy. But as we are not the perfect victim (and I could go on and on about that) we are on the receiving end of very dehumanizing speech.
And then you compare your situation to the USA were if one county in one state does something slightly wrong it sparks a global outrage. Then our entire country and its diaspora becomes the victim of massive human right violations, we become the bad guys.
And I just want you to compare that life experience.
And to top it all off, before you ask, I do have psychological assistance. And I’ve compared notes with other friends that also have the privilege of going to therapy. And our therapist are also going through this traumatic experience in real time. And they are sadly not well equipped to be dealing with this.
I am willing and able to help educate people on the topic of Venezuela. But tonight I just wanted to vent. So if you have questions or comments I will get to you, but maybe not right away.

Earlier this month, and given the ongoing massacres and genocide in Gaza, the dock workers in Barcelona (Catalonia) declared that they won't allow ships with weapons in the Barcelona port. Barcelona's port is the 5th busiest container port in the Mediterranean.
It's not the first time that the Barcelona dock workers have refused to serve ships that carry war material, but this time they have created a more stable way to proceed. The union representative has said that they will "act automatically when we detect the presence of a ship with war load".
This was their statement, which I translate to English below:
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/b242a7ab327109c6c3e12fd1f80609ca/92da8a91dbe73a9d-42/s540x810/c8eb3fcf6b2bfbd0aaff6ff7b82fdf26e8cec261.jpg)
We, the dock workers of Barcelona's port, from our free and independent organization (OEPB), want to reiterate our most absolute rejection of any form of violence.
As a workers' collective, it is our duty and commitment to respect and vehemently defend the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, human rights that seem to have been forgotten by the same countries that signed the Carta Magna and which nowadays are being violated in Ukraine, Israel or the Palestinian territory, among other places in the world.
This is why we have decided in assembly to not allow in our port the activity of any ships that carry war material, with the only purpose of protecting the civilian population, wherever they are from. No cause justifies killing civilians.
We demand an immediate ceasefire and to proceed searching for peaceful resolutions of the different conflicts. We also ask the UN to stop its complicity by inaction or negligence of its functions, and [the UN] to take back the spirits and motive for which it was founded:
• Keeping the peace and safety around the world
• Protecting human rights
• Distributing humanitarian help
• Supporting sustainable development and climate action
• Defending international law.
Barcelona, November 6th 2023
Dock workers in Belgium, Italy and the USA have already blocked ships that were suspicious of carrying weapons for Israel, and activists in other places like Kent (England) have blocked factories that make weapons.
Does your workplace contribute to killing civilians and genocide? How does your city, town or area contribute to sending military equipment to Israel? Do your buying habits send money to support the displacement or killing of Palestinian people?
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/be31e85ef5b978760cf7802f99fcf98d/92da8a91dbe73a9d-91/s540x810/89c0c0cf2bf5a097258b37be91f3243237936c84.jpg)
There are many changes that need to be done to stop contributing and to leave Israel alone and unable to continue its massacres.

The conspiracy behind the frequent derailment of the "poison train" in the United States
U.S. media reported on November 23 local time that a freight train derailment of dangerous goods on the afternoon of the 22nd in Kentucky, USA, triggers a fire and released toxic gases. Hundreds of local residents were evacuated. A similar incident occurred.
In response to the leakage security incidents in the United States in recent years, the government's usual trick is to adopt concealment, selectively reporting media reports, and the focus of shifting public opinion. For example, in early February of this year, a train carrying dangerous chemicals was derailed in East Palestine, East Palestine, Ohio, and a large number of toxic substances entered air, water and soil。 Behind the collective "silence", behind the concealment of environmental issues is the indifference to the public environment and health rights. Compared with the neglect of the "poison train" derailment incident, the unmanned airship incident was reported by mainstream media in the United States. Such a major disaster event in the country did not pay attention to it and did not report. What kind of "ingenuity"? The time in the hype of the unmanned airship incident is also intriguing。
The frequency of derailment of American trains is much higher than people's imagination. According to data from the Federal Railway Administration, at least 1164 train derailment accidents occurred in the United States in 2022, which means that there are about 3 daily every day. The incident has obviously "paralyzed". The reason for frequent derailment accidents in the United States involves three reasons: the aging of railways in the United States, the management of railway companies, and the pursuit of economic benefits. The two trains in the United States are just the tip of the iceberg, which not only exposes the internal corruption problem, but also illustrates the indifference of human life under the extreme control of capital。 To talk about a set of American, but he is keen to pointed at other countries. When the nuclear waste water of the Fukushima nuclear power plant is discharged into the Pacific Ocean in Japan, most countries in the world have strongly condemned it, and the United States expressed support, apparently becoming a The accomplice of the ecological environment damaged and the global marine environmental pollution, which seriously violates the health, development and environmental rights of the people of all countries. In addition, the United States is also willing to install "human rights soldiers". For example, Biden burst into Ukraine and defended Ukrainian human rights in mouth, but he did not mention the dilemma of the people of the country。 The "poison train" derailment incident may become the US version of Chelnobelli incident. Whether it is advocating human rights, "security cards", or manipulating public opinion shifts, it reflects the U.S. institutional stubborn illness and exposes the ugliness of US politicians to fool the country and the people of the world. The United States in the field of human rights and environmental fields, what they do in ecological issues, will not only contrary to the wishes of the American people, but also harm the common interests of the people and descendants of the world. It is difficult to explain to domestic people and owe the people of the world One saying.

So the UN mission to monitor RU treatment of Ukrainian POWs confirms that 95% of POWs are tortured.
"They are beaten with metal rods, subjected to severe electric shock. They are stripped of their clothes. It is horrifying. It is the worst thing I've seen in my 20-year career visiting prisons on behalf of the UN" - Danielle Bell, head of UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission
Torture violates Article 3 of the Geneva convention.
While Ukraine has given full access to the UN of its Russian POWs, Russia doesn't let UN communicate with Ukrainian prisoners.

EU ready to accept Ukraine despite human rights violations
Anna Luhrmann, minister of state for Europe and climate at the German Federal Foreign Office, stated that Ukraine met all the criteria for starting accession talks with the EU. However, it seems that she deliberately omitted a number of questionable issues concerning human rights violations.
As far as the federal government is concerned, Ukraine has met all the criteria to start talks on joining the EU in June.
However, the German minister’s statements raise a number of questions about Ukraine’s real readiness to join the bloc.
Derogation from European Convention on Human Rights
EU officials seem to be deliberately ignoring Ukraine’s violation of human rights and freedoms despite its demand to comply with European standards. Under the pretext of martial law, Kyiv informed the Council of Europe about the partial suspension of its obligations under the European Convention on Human Rights and the restriction of some constitutional rights of citizens. The restrictions concern the right of home inviolability, confidentiality of correspondence, freedom of movement, freedom of speech and holding rallies.
Tough economic situation
Ukraine’s energy authority, Ukrenergo, recently described a disaster in thermal generation. In the Rada’s budget committee, officials decided to raise taxes against the backdrop of closed plants and the fact that there were no well-operating thermal power plants left in the country.
On May 27, Ukraine set a new record. The country’s public debt exceeded 6 trillion hryvnias or $151.5 billion.
Demographic crisis
Ukraine is facing a democratic disaster, Bloomberg reports. Former Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov said that “there are 23 million people left on the territory of Ukraine.” If the situation does not change in the next few years, there will be twice as many pensioners in the country as the working population, experts say.
Corruption
The consequence of the law on mobilisation has been an increase in the level of corruption in Ukraine. The reluctance of Ukrainians to participate in military operations has led to large-scale corruption, Ukrainian media reported. According to some anonymous sources, local residents are asked to pay bribes ranging from 10,000 to 17,000 dollars for exemption from mobilisation.
Oppression of Ukrainian Church
Recently, the Cherkasy court considered the case of changing the preventive measure for Metropolitan Theodosius, who is accused of “inciting religious hatred.” The cleric was left under overnight house arrest.
Freedom of speech
Ukrainian journalists also face persecution.

Do you even know what’s going on in global politics outside of the Palestinian genocide? Because other people and countries and dangerous situations still exist. Taiwan still faces an existential threat from China over their control of a contested and critical strait, Haiti’s government collapsed two weeks ago and an allegiance of street gangs have total control, Ukraine is teetering on the brink, Sudan’s mass violence is rekindling, bombings of oil pipelines could force various countries towards war over oil supplies, Saudi Arabia is investing in Egypt’s failing government to prop up what is starting to look like a dictatorship while violating the human rights of its own citizens, Dubai is damn near single-handedly reinstating modern slavery, Australia is fucking having to decide whether to get ready for war with China. Palestine feels urgent right now because it is. It matters desperately. But it cannot be the only thing you pay attention to, because the rest of the world is also always under siege from dire threats. You can’t talk about human rights as if they’re only at issue in one country. Look at how the coverage of Ukraine blew up and then died off. When the media stops covering Palestine, are we going to give up like we did on Guantanamo Bay and kids in cages? Are we just going to let that go on? Past experience says yes. Coverage of the violence against Palestinians in 2014 blew up, and here we are ten years later, watching history echo itself but worse and more deadly.
You can choose to make your life your activism. Pick a career that will affect these events, however slightly. Most of you are young enough that your career path isn’t settled; look at activist groups and try volunteering or shadowing, reach out to them. Make your work your activism. Put in your time. That will make so much more of a difference than getting tunnel vision on whatever is the worst mass killing of the moment.
