So basically the beasts go insane and stuff, and the witches separate the souljam into the ‘good’ and ‘bad’ parts like they do in canon. Except instead of sealing the beasts away they purify them and give them a second chance.(The silver tree and the fearies still exist, but they are there just in case. Elder Faerie is most likely friends with the beasts, or rather the ancient heroes in this AU)

Aaaaaand our ancients(or in this AU the beasts) were unfortunate enough to have picked up the corrupted parts of the souljam. So the beasts and Elder Faerie sealed them away in the silver tree for like 700 years.

oh, wow, i am suddenly quite mad that amy is so often simplified to doctor hero-worship? there is a story here! it leans very hard into the way amy feels about the doctor, sure, but i would argue that one of the first things we learn about amy is that she loves rory and she's scared of loving rory. little baby amelia pond does not want to be left, so she's doing the leaving. the way she reacts when she remembers she's getting married --

there is a tremble to her voice as she relays this information. she is so fundamentally unnerved by it. i remember sort of feeling like the show really tried to make us think amy loved the doctor more than rory, and i do maintain that that's the case and it's ridiculous (see: day of the moon, the entire melody pond plotline), but i really did not remember that the first real character moment we get re: amy is that she is running away from marrying rory! like she's not running Towards in the same vein as martha or donna or rose, she is running Away, decisively, because she has someone on lock who loves her and she doesn't want to experience losing him.

amy feeling like she's never deserved rory is also a very consistent through line in her arc! her love for him is so beautiful and it shines so bright. i am full of so many god damn feelings about them both right now. there are parts that i think are written a bit clumsily, but the whole reason she is here flirting with the doctor and kissing him and all that nonsense is very specifically because she doesn't feel ready to commit to rory and she doesn't know how to articulate any of her bigger, more complicated feelings. this is so river song's mama.
