It's funny because faralind and saundreas are two ships that i don't ship myself but i can totally see being canon/almost canon in the past (not so much in their future even if andreas, farah and rosalind hadn't died) and i would have liked to delve in their history even though some things about them make me a bit uncomfortable lol i don't think faralind could've ever been anything but toxic and saundreas might've started well but then... things happened 😂 i was hoping farah would be back in s2 and we'd get to see more of these two relationships (and some silrah of course) but halfway through i realised it wasn't going to happen so i was like, well let's see where they go with andreas/rosalind then. But they went and KILLED THEM BOTH 🤣 i've never felt more like a clown in my entire life. Thank god for fanfic writers 💖
yes!!! you just hit the nail on the head on the joys of shipping. I do wish there was a word between "I want these two characters to be endgame" and "I want to see more of these characters' dynamic" bc I want both!!! I want to write both and I want to read both and I want to roll around like a pig in the mud of both.
honestly I like s2 up until they killed off andreas and then it really lost its way. he was a great secondary villain/rogue by which he forced the other characters to act/react. then Roz's death was just ??? why set up a huge conflict between her way of reasoning and Sebastian's way of reasoning and then just *fwoosh*
this isn't super coherent as it's Friday night and you know what that means but I love your thoughts anon!! I hear you entirely. And I love that you're interested in reading ships that on their face make you uncomfy bc that is one of the many joys of fiction and indeed art itself.

Can I Have This Dance? (Steve Rogers x Reader)
Pairing: Steve Rogers x Reader
Rating: PG - Fluffy
Word Count: 2,689
Synopsis: 4 times the reader asked Steve to dance with her and one time Steve her.
Info: Written for @cockslut-padalecki’s Not My Ninth Challenge in celebration of 9k followers! Also Happy Belated birthday, I hope you had a great one. I choose, How Do I Live by LeAnn Rimes and Wedding Ceremony. The dividers are by @firefly-graphics 💘 Im posting this on my barley working laptop, so forgive me. Also all mistakes are mine as this is not beta read.
1st Time:
Honestly what possessed her to wear her favorite white denim overall shorts to Sam’s barbecue? They were now stained with all all kinds of food and handprints from the children of the Avengers children asking to be held by her. Admittedly seeing everyone so happy and spending the afternoon with her fiancé made it worth it. Also Natasha would probably be able to show her how to get the stains out.
“Want to queue up the next song?” Sam nudged her handing over his phone that was connected to speakers. Giddily Y/N took the phone and went through the approved barbecue playlist as Killer Queen started to play, she continued to scroll as her head bopped to the song. Finding the perfect one she handed the phone over to Sam’s significant other Lou who kissed her on the cheek.
Bucky and Steve were sharing a phone screen laughing at whatever video it was they were watching, probably one of Alpine that Bucky had taken. Getting up from her chair Y/N stood beside Steve’s and brushed her right hand across his broad shoulders, goosebumps started to rise on his skin as she leaned in to brush her lips beside his ear.
“Come dance with me, Stevie please?" the blonde's face blushed as his fiance turned away from him making her way back towards the dancing couples. “Punk if you don't I sure as hell will.” Steve turned to give his best friend a glare just as the baritone voice sang out, jumping to his feet.
“I had a thought, dear, however scary, about that night, the bugs and the dirt. Why were you digging? What did you bury? Before those hands pulled me from the earth.” Steve rushed to Y/N’s side, a small smile on her face her fiance placed his face at her time taking in the scent of lavender and mint, while his hands rested at her hips. Y/N’s arms circled his neck interlocking her hands, eyes closing she placed her heads against his chest over his heart. As Hozier sang the couple just swayed from side to side, loving each other.
“I could not ask you where you came from. I could not ask and neither could you. Honey, just put your sweet lips on my lips, we could just kiss like real people do.” As the song came to an end Steve and Y/N’s eyes met, she was biting her lip, a look of worry was in her eyes.
“What?” Looking placed his hands on Y/N’s face doing everything he could to ease the worry in his fiancés face.
“Just, how would I live without you?” Steve scoffed and pulled Y/N into his arms, hugging her close, “You’ll never have to live without me, I’m going anywhere. I love you.”
2nd Time:
“Well son her mother would have loved you and I’m so proud to have you joining our family.” Andy clapped his daughters fiancé on the shoulder, before looking out on the dance floor to see all four of his children dancing together to the Macarena having a good time.
“I’m lucky to have her Andy and I love both her and this family.” Steve assured Y/N’s father how much he loved her as the song came to an end. The DJ for the reception started to walk towards Y/N’s sister and her husband.
Y/N stood between her brothers playfully nudging each other like they used to do as kids. Suddenly it was quiet in the reception hall, both her and Steve were looking at Y/N’s sister and her husband who smiled at everyone, but they were staring at Y/N.
“I need my sister Y/N and her fiancé Steve to come up here for a second.” Y/N’s brothers pushed her forward, suddenly glad she had exchanged her heels for converse 4 or 5 songs back. Steve and she met halfway there, hands grasping at each other as their fingers intertwined. The blonde leaned over and kissed the crown of his fiancé's face making her blush as they reached Legacie and Michael.
“This weekend was actually supposed to be the weekend that Y/N and Steve got married, but 6 months ago I came to my sister and told her I was pregnant. Y/N knew Michael and I would want to move our wedding up, Y/N and Steve immediately asked if I would like to take their wedding and for that we are so thankful. The thing about my sister is she is just like our mom, always giving and so loving, it makes so much sense why Steve fell in love with my little sister. I got to thinking a way to thank you and that is dedicating a song to you, your favorite song as a kid.” Legacie passed the microphone back to the DJ, before she reached over kissing her little on the cheek. Y/N looked at her sister before her jaw dropped and her cheeks turned pink as the keyboard of the popular ’90s Australian pop singer hit started to play.
“I'll be your dream, I'll be your wish. I'll be your fantasy, I'll be your hope, I'll be your love. Be everything that you need.” Y/N still holding onto Steve’s hand turned to stand in front of him and looked up at him.
“Will you dance with my love?” with a smile on his face, Steve didn't even verbalize his answer, he just gave a tug of her hand pulling her body closer to his, as other couples joined them on the dance floor.
“I wanna stand with you on a mountain. I wanna bathe with you in the sea. I wanna lay like this forever. Until the sky falls down on me. I wanna stand with you on a mountain. I wanna bathe with you in the sea.I want to live like this forever. Until the sky falls down on me.” As they continued to dance among Legacie and Michale's family and friends, he tried to imagine how he would live without her in his life. He had an answer before the song was even over he knew a life without Y/N was no life at all.
3rd Time:
She was trying really hard not to cry but it felt but it was 3:12 in the morning, it was raining, it looked like Bucky had finished off the rest of her Ben and Jerry Star Spangled Berry Swirl, and Friday was playing her I got the blues playlist. Boy did she have the blues, she shouldn’t though, it was November, the holiday season was in full swing, but it was as if her heart wasn’t in it.
Then the piano kicked in and the tears really started.
“Look into my eyes, you will see what you mean to me.”
Steve down the hall in bed they shared hearing sniffles of his fiancé, got out of bed, grabbing her cardigan from ottoman at the foot of the bed. Y/N stood at the kitchen island sipping a cup of hot tea as Bryan Adams sang.
“Darling?” Steve came up behind her and placed the over side article of clothing over shoulder, kissing her temple. Setting the steaming cup of lavender and blueberries down, Y/N turned around to look him in the eyes, with tears still coming down.
“Dance with me Stevie, please?” with a little lift of the right side of his lips. Steve pulled Y/N to him, placing her head over his heartbeat, he encased her his arms and started to sway them.
“Don't tell me, it’s not worth fightin' for. I can't help it, there’s nothin' I want more. You know it's true, everything I do, I do it for you.”
“I can’t live without you Stevie.” Y/N whispered into the night as she looked out at the rain coming down in the night.
“And you won't have to," Steve promised.
4th Time:
It was finally the New Year, 12:01 on January 1st to be exact and everyone was partying at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, thanks to Pepper and Tony. Peter Quill and his friends had made it, Thor with Jane, Carol Danver, Monica Rambeau with her friends Jimmy Woo and Darcy, Fantastic Four, Peter Parker had brought his best friend Ned and girl friend MJ, all the Avengers were there, even the Wakanda gang was accounted for, the place was packed. It seemed as if the bad guys were in need of a day off.
Steve stood a few feet away from Y/N who was dancing with Natasha, Clint, Shuri, Peter, MJ, Wanda, Scott, Johnny, Groot, Darcy, Sam, Lou, and Jimmy Woo, they were all dancing to thank u, next, laughing and having a good time. Lou was currently on Sam's shoulders making the Bucky who was beside Steve, hoot’d, as he took a shot from the Asgardian mead. It was great for Steve to see all his friends and family to be letting loose.
Y/N walked over as the song came to a closure and pulled Steve in for a kiss earning a cheer from the group they had surrounded themselves with. Blushing they pulled apart as the familiar violin started to play across the room, making the room erupt cheers yet again. Tonight’s crowd was easily pleased, who knew all it took was alcohol, food, friends, and good music?
As the drum kicked in, Y/N’s head started to bop her foot tapping along, grabbing Steve’s hand she started to pull him towards the group, grabbing Bucky’s hand along the way.
“Steve can I have this dance?” Looking over her shoulder as she got ready to start jumping up and down, Steve looked at her as if he had to think on it, but stopped when Bucky hit him in the bicep. “Not with the metal arm, and yes!”
“Come on Eileen! Oh, I swear, what he means. At this moment you mean everything, you in that dress. My thoughts I confess, verge on dirty. Oh, come on Eileen.” The group's form of dancing was jumping up and dancing, moving their heads side to side, throwing in mixed moves, like the sprinkler or epaule here and there. It was just about letting go. Steve and Y/N danced together with the fingers of their left-right hands interlaced jumping up and down, throwing their heads back and forth like they were at a rock concert.
As Bucky danced with his best friend and the girl that had become like a sister to him, he couldn't picture their lives without one another. There was no Steve without Y/N in it, no Y/N without Steve. They were so madly, deeply in love, that to lose the other it would be close to losing themselves. He vowed at that moment to do whatever it took to always bring Steve home and to always protect Y/N for him.
The 1 Time Steve Asked Y/N to Dance:
“This is the best birthday gift I could ever ask for!” Bucky raised his glass of bourbon to the crowded room, before he leaned down to place a kiss on Y/N’s cheek. He had just given his best man speech congratulating his best friend on finding his soulmate who made him happy, and on his retirement. Lou leaned forward putting their arms around Y/N’s shoulders swaying, making the bride laugh as the best friends hugged.
Steve took the microphone from Sam and pulled Y/N away from her best friend, confused she looked up at him. The room was silent with all eyes on them, as it had been since the moment she stepped out onto the wooden boardwalk Pepper’s people had built leading to the dock, everyone’s eyes had been on them.
“Through this whole wedding process my wife has been so incredibly patient with me. Originally I just said whatever you want Y/N it’s your day, but she would scrunch her face up, for her family they know what I’m talking about, the one where she doesn’t like something or doesn’t understand, anyways. Lou, Y/N’s best friend and the perfect person for Sam came to me said,
“Rogers for a superhero, you are pretty dense, the wedding day is both your big day. This is a day you both are going to look back on, tell your children about and share with your family and friends. Don’t make her plan it and make all the choices on her own.” Steve looked down at Y/N and smiled, as his wife laughed and gave her best friends hand a tight squeeze before letting it go.
“So I did what I could, your napkins I chose, thank you very much, your centerpieces though, you are going to have to take that up with the my beautiful wife’s cousin, Willow, she handmaid these beautiful pieces for us, so we could reuse them in our winery and barn.” Willow blew the couple a kiss making the crowd laugh as Y/N caught it and stumbled back, before throwing one back just as extravagantly.
“Anyways the reason I’m up here is because I really didn’t do that much, but I made a promise to my wife that I, the man out of time, could pick the song we dance to as a married couple.” Turning his body so now the newlyweds were now facing each other, Sam took the microphone holding it up to Steve's mouth, as Steve held both Y/N’s hands in his.
“Steve we’ve talked about this you’re right where you need to be.” Steve just nodded his head and kissed her on the lips getting a few people in the crowd cheering. Bucky, Sam, Lou, and Y/N’s siblings are motioned for the crowd to quiet down.
“I admit I waited till last night to e-mail our DJ Ned and tell him our song. But to be fair if it hadn’t been for a talk I had while sleeping at Sam’s and him playing this song we probably would just have some random song. Thank you Sam for saving the day.” Sam pulled the microphone telling the couple it was no problem really.
“With that all said and done, Mrs. Rogers can I have this dance?” Laughing Y/N nodded as they made their way around the tables holding hands waving to their family and friends. Ned Leeds, was the nights DJ, thanks to coming recommended by his friend Peter Parker, this was his hobby by a means to pay for college and his growing obsession of Star Wars Legos. As soon as the couple had made it to the center of the faux hardwood dance floor, he hit play.
“How do I get through one night without you? If I had to live without you, what kind of life would that be?”
Y/N let a gasp slip past her lips as the familiar country song played. Her arms held onto Steve’s shoulders, while he held onto her hips, they did their usual sway, there was no need for fancy footing or putting on a show. This was just them being them, in love, sharing that love with a room full of their closest family friends.
“I promised you, you wouldn’t have to know what it was like to live without me, and you won’t either of you.” Y/N looked up at him placing a kiss on his soft lips, letting a few tears of happiness slip. This is what contentment felt like, to feel whole, be loved, and find that perfect person.
“How do I live without you? How do I live without you, baby? How do I live?”

REVIEWING THE CHARTS: 30/01/2021 (Wellerman, Fredo, Sabrina Carpenter, Billie Eilish & ROSALÍA)
I’ve never been more thankful for a song being this big – “drivers license” by Olivia Rodrigo spends a third week at #1, blocking “WITHOUT YOU” by The Kid LAROI at #2. Thank God. Anyway, we’ve got 10 new arrivals so let’s cut the chit-chat and start REVIEWING THE CHARTS.
Rundown
Of course, after this brief rundown we always do. Thankfully, the site actually updated last week, so I can go through this as routinely as possible. For drop-outs, it’s a lot of recent new arrivals falling out either off the debut or a few weeks after – most of them being pretty crap – but we do have some notable drop-outs, like “Forever Young” by Becky Hill, “Plugged In Freestyle” by A92 and Fumez the Engineer, “pov” by Ariana Grande, “Love is a Compass” by Griff, “Tick Tock” by Clean Bandit and Mabel featuring 24kGoldn, “Lasting Lover” by Sigala and James Arthur, and finally, “Perfect” by Ed Sheeran. Now to move onto the chart proper, we do have some movement to discuss. Firstly, we have some fallers, those being “Dynamite” by BTS at #32, “positions” by Ariana Grande at #39, “Lemonade” by Internet Money and Gunna featuring Don Toliver and NAV at #41, “All I Want” by Olivia Rodrigo at #43 off of the return, “SO DONE” by The Kid LAROI at #46, “Best Friend” by Saweetie featuring Doja Cat at #47, “Midnight Sky” by Miley Cyrus at #48, “What You Know Bout Love” by the late Pop Smoke at #51, “Wellerman” by the Longest Johns practically being replaced at #52 (We’ll discuss this more later), “See Nobody” by Wes Nelson and Hardy Caprio at #53, “Notorious” by Bugzy Malone and Chip at #55, “Looking for Me” by Paul Woodford, Diplo and Kareen Lomax at #60, “Bad Boy” by the late Juice WRLD and Young Thug unfortunately purging to #62, “WAP” by Cardi B featuring Megan Thee Stallion at #67, “Pinging (6 Figures)” by Central Cee crashing off of the debut to #72 and “Diamonds” by Sam Smith at #74, joining our two returning entries – which are just older songs getting another brief pick-up at the bottom of the charts. Those are “Baby Shark” by Pinkfong and “Shallow” by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper at #75 and #73 respectively, by the way. Oh, and we also have “Martin & Gina” by Polo G at #65, but I honestly can’t see that song going anywhere – and I really like it. This doesn’t mean that we don’t have any gains, however, as finally, we can see some rising hits trying to fill in the cracks, like both of Rudimental’s debuts from last week: “Be the One” with MORGAN, TIKE and Digga D is up to #58, whilst the incredibly worse single “Regardless” with RAYE is cracking into the top 40 at #40. Sigh, well, we do have some more promising gains, like... “Heat Waves” by Glass Animals at #38? “Friday” by Riton, Nightcrawlers and Musafa & Hypeman at #37 off of the debut? Okay, 2021 might end up being pretty rough, huh? Thankfully, we have a plentiful amount of new arrivals to waive any of my fears, so let’s just start with those.
NEW ARRIVALS
#70 – “Overpriced” – M Huncho
Produced by Quincy Tellem
Oh, come on! Okay, so this is M Huncho, UK trao’s answer to the late MF DOOM, except without any of the lyrical complexity, storytelling abilities, genuine wit, charming sampling and production techniques, brilliant discography... he’s pretty much just a guy whose main gimmick is the mask, and it’s on this single cover too, seemingly in a museum. This song in particular is just one of these melodic trap cuts with wavy acoustic guitars blended with synths beyond recognition, topped off with odd bass mastering and a checked-out performance from M Huncho, who spends way too much time on his verses going “doo-doo-doo-doo-doo”, before the beat switches for a verse that fades out after like 20 seconds. What’s the point of any of this, honestly? It’s not awful – the bass does kind of knock – but I really don’t understand why this is here, or why M Huncho is a big name. It’s not even as good as AJ Tracey’s trap bangers and it’s not even as funny as D-Block Europe, which I’m surprised by, considering that he had his own stupid hit with “Pee Pee” around this time last year, and that song was actually good. Also, M Huncho, what do you think your fans get from you dissing them? If you’re going to brag about your “house by the lake” and then rap about how some unnamed individual “still lives at their mum’s in a council estate”, consider that a lot of your audience will still live with their parents in council housing or be surrounded by people who do. Someone who really came from poverty should know that this is classist and disrespectful to your own demographic. Yeah, this is worthless. Why’s this guy still charting? At least Young Adz knows how to write a hook.
#65 – “New Love” – Silk City and Ellie Goulding
Produced by Silk City and Picard Brothers
Okay, so we do have some energy on the chart – or at least half of the credited acts have. Silk City is a duo of producers, those being Diplo, a true weirdo in mainstream EDM who’s honestly kind of fascinating and oftentimes a fluke genius (especially in its work in Major Lazer and Jack U with Skrillex), and Mark Ronson, one of the greatest producers of the 21st century so far, probably most known for “Uptown Funk!”. These guys did have a hit together with Dua Lipa in 2018 in the form of “Electricity”, but it’s been a while and I’m interested to see how they work with the complete non-presence that is Ellie Goulding. It’s with some level of disappointment that I say that she’s not a non-presence here, as this is otherwise a pretty neat house tune with some excellent 90s keys and a deep-house groove I think is pretty fun. The strings in the pre-chorus are great and build-up to a fantastic chorus... or at least the instrumental is fantastic, because Goulding is a waste here, mixed way too high and honestly just faltering her vocals here. She sounds awkward through multi-tracking and even worse without it, as she clearly goes for a rough swagger that cannot work with her light, almost fairy-like voice she’s relied on much of her career. The intricacies of this production are really admirable, but Goulding was clearly an afterthought. With a real diva on vocals, or honestly just a sample of a soul or diva house track, this could be excellent. As it is, I’m bored. Next.
#63 – “Typhoons” – Royal Blood
Produced by Royal Blood
Oh, okay. Well, this is a pleasant surprise. Royal Blood are an English garage rock duo that rock pretty hard, and don’t go for anything else beyond that, which to me is a breath of fresh air, and, yeah, this is good. Is it as good as their debut? Of course not, their biggest hit “Figure it Out” is still incredible, and this one goes for a more synthesized 70s feel, even accentuated by disco keys in the pre-chorus. The riffs are still here though, as that main guitar line is pretty awesome. I see this as a mix of garage rock revival bands from the 2000s like the White Stripes, as well as some stoner-adjacent bands like Queens of the Stone Age, with a more classic hard-rock groove and Mike Kerr’s signature yelp, and it works for what it is, so I’m excited for that upcoming single. Nothing’s particularly impressive here, but I’ll definitely go for this over the rest of what we have charting, so I’m not complaining. This is good, you should check these guys out, even if they tend to be a bit derivative. That tense bridge with the looming background vocals and intensifying riff is genuinely epic, by the way, even if there isn’t much more of a pay-off behind just... the chorus again, which ends up rendering as flat as a result. Regardless, it’s a good break from the norm – which for a chart week like this, I’m especially glad is here.
#61 – “Your Love (9PM)” – ATB, Topic and A75
Produced by ATB, Topic and Rudi Dittmann
German DJ ATB was showing his girlfriend his new recording studio when he got carried away with a single guitar sound and made a song out of it, “9PM (Till I Come)”, named after the time the track was finished. Later on, he took the track and added some whispered vocals from Spanish model Yolanda Riviera. This happened in 1999, by the way, when this song was released to great success in Europe, leading to a hilariously dated album cover but still a UK #1. The song is honestly kind of bad, relying on a pretty typical house groove, ugly MIDI guitars and that seductive vocal loop. Regardless, since 90s nostalgia has come way too fast, Topic has remixed the track with A75, a collaboration we’ve seen before on “Breaking Me” from last year, which sucked. To be fair, the original song is pretty empty, so I’m interested to hear A75 add some vocals... and he just sounds pained over a deep-house rip of the original. The ugly MIDI melody stays, just now it’s drowned out and even more synthesized – this is the guitar sound you liked so much? I hope she left you. Let’s move on.
#59 – “My Head & My Heart” – Ava Max
Produced by Jonas Blue, Earwulf and Cirkut
Speaking of being bored, here’s pop singer Ava Max, with a new lead single from the deluxe edition of her debut studio album, Heaven & Hell. This one’s produced by Jonas Blue, which, alongside a redundant “Jonas Blue remix”, is probably why it’s charting. What’s sad is it’s not really very good, as the vocals are over-processed over fake hand-claps and clipping mixes that make those plastic synths sound even worse. Admittedly, I like the rubbery future bass-esque bass line here, but that’s really as far as my appreciation for this goes, as the writing is non-existent, and Ava Max is barely here. It’s honestly really similar to “New Love”, except this one’s not even as interesting as that track, going for an exhaustingly tired house-pop style that while she is a natural fit for, it does make the 2000s synth-pop she started with sound inspired in comparison. Oh, and the “Jonas Blue remix” is practically a glorified bass-boost that makes this sound even uglier, so, yeah, skip this.
#42 – “Apricots” – Bicep
Produced by Bicep
Bicep is a Northern Irish electronic duo from Belfast, and this is an instrumental from their most recent album, Isles, which clearly must have stood out enough for it to debut at #42. I can understand why too, as that sample from Hugh Tracey’s African music recordings, particularly the vocal sample used, is really infectious and interesting. I don’t think everything surrounding it is enough to really make it less annoying, as it running through nearly the entirety of a four-minute track makes this sample lose its lustre too quickly. It runs its course far before the song has the chance to build up into a house track, with that sample crushing everything that isn’t the percussion in the mix anyway. The keys are really cool, and I can’t fault the strings and ambiance that keeps the song building up for as long as it does. It also takes a sample from a Bulgarian folk choir, which they paralleled to the Celtic folk they grew up hearing, and honestly, this is just a cool blending of global music rather than an actually good song, ending with me respecting this more than actually enjoying it. The synths by the end sound fantastic as does the Bulgarian chanting, but it doesn’t really have a great climax or drop to make the build-up worth it, defaulting to a generic house groove by the end that fades out before it can have any real impact. So, yeah, this isn’t bad, but feels like a waste of some really great ideas. I guess I can say that “Northern Irish remix of an English ethnomusicologist’s recordings of African music that also samples a Bulgarian folk tune” isn’t quite as much of a developed idea as “Kazakh remix of an American rapper of Guyanese descent’s trap song in a Brazilian house style released on a Russian record label”.
#35 – “Lo Vas A Olvidar” – Billie Eilish and ROSALÍA
Produced by FINNEAS
It’s not often that songs in non-English languages chart in the UK. Whilst in the US, Latin music is such a force that it’ll launch hits for many Spanish-speaking artists, this isn’t the case in decidedly smaller Britain, where a still multicultural society tends to produce art that is always in English. To be fair, we don’t have a place like Puerto Rico, and the few songs I’ve talked about this year that have been in a different language... well, basically the one song I can remember off the top of my head, was in a Nigerian Creole language. So, why’s a Spanish song by Spanish artist ROSALÍA charting so high? Well, it’s also a Billie Eilish song, and it’s also from the HBO teen drama Euphoria. Yeah, a teen drama makes a lot of sense for Eilish to soundtrack. This has been teased since 2019, and is actually ROSALÍA’s first song to chart here in the UK, so is it any good? Well, yeah, actually, it is. Both Eilish and ROSALÍA have excellent whispery tones that complement FINNEAS’ muted, ambient production perfectly, and their harmonisation sounds great, with both singing in Spanish here for the most part. That chorus is pretty janky, though, and I don’t really see the point in the Auto-Tuned interludes, even if they both sound great playing off of each other with a lot of tuning in the outro. This is pretty minimal and dare I say awkward, kind of eerie, so I don’t see it sticking around, but as a longing break-up track, they both sell it well. Next.
#28 – “Skin” – Sabrina Carpenter
Produced by Ryan McMahon
Joshua Bassett’s response flopped immensely, meaning that now it’s Sabrina Carpenter’s time to shine, because if it’s anything she gets out of this Disney love triangle, it’s a hit song, and people clearly want to hear more from the women than they do from Josh. Telling. Now I’m not one to follow Disney teen drama because this is all a marketing gimmick. I mean, the songs dropped every Friday so anyone who can’t see through this is either blind or... a child, and considering the audience, that second one is more likely, which is fine. Popular music is, ultimately, in the hands of teenagers and record executives, and all of these break-up response diss track... things, tend to feed into both hands, whilst also giving these talented young actors a bigger break. This is Carpenter’s first charting hit in the UK, after all. The song is decidedly worse than “drivers license” though, and by a lot, as the mixing here isn’t even competent, as Carpenter’s voice clips through these ugly pianos, worsened by how her voice does not sound great here at all, as she struggles through that terrible chorus. She may say that this isn’t a response to Rodrigo, but given the lyrics and how quickly this rushed release was put out, are we really supposed to believe that? The percussion here is gross as well, drowned in bad reverb that makes this just sound grey and dull. The strings building up to a climax are barely there, and when they are, they sound like they’re elevating a really garbage performance from Carpenter, who can barely keep up. This is supposed to be a ballad yet it sounds so stiff and controlled, meaning that Carpenter trying to let loose on the vocals makes this awkward and painful. I’m sorry, but this is really bad, and I hope it doesn’t stick around. Thankfully, I don’t see that happening.
#20 – “Back to Basics” – Fredo
Produced by Dave
Lil Chocolate Frog’s got a new record out this week that I’ve yet to hear, and this is the lead single, produced by his long-time friend and collaborator, Dave – who’s awesome. I’ve typically been less kind to his mate Fredo but honestly, his ever so slightly off-kilter style has grown on me too, and this song is a pretty good introduction to that. It’s one verse over rattling trap hi-hats and a really eerie vocal sample, and Fredo flows casually and smoothly over the beat, in his typical careless, just barely there style, which works well over a pretty subtle beat like this. Fredo’s lyrics are pretty interesting here too, as amidst flexing and gun-play, he has some pretty funny lines, although far from Dave’s wordplay, rather relying on fun one-liners where he says he’s “kind of Christian”, doing revision on drug trafficking, will run for mayor, and because of how much of the gang violence is sadly amongst ethnic minorities, he himself is racially profiling his “opps”. One line near the end of the track actually made me laugh, when he says he counts up twenties while eating porridge. It’s not funny on paper, sure, but the delivery is gold. He shows more character here than he has since “Funky Friday”, also with Dave, so I’m pretty excited to hear this record, which Dave actually executively produced. It’s also got the late Pop Smoke on a track with Young Adz, so at least I’ll let out more of those laughs. This lead single is pretty good though, and I can see it going top 10 next week with the album boost.
#3 – “Wellerman – Sea Shanty” (220 KID x Billen Ted Remix) – Nathan Evans
Produced by Saltwaves, Billen Ted and 220 KID
Last week, the sea shanty “Wellerman” charted as a cover by the Longest Johns. It’s a fine acapella cover, and this version, by Nathan Evans, was originally similarly acapella, except for the tap of a table as percussion to keep time. This version got even more viral on British TikTok, and if I recall correctly, he quit his job to be signed by Polydor, which is pretty scummy on Polydor’s part. I mean, you know this guy won’t have any more hits. Regardless, this version debuted at #3 thanks to a remix by DJs 220 KID and Billen Ted, three English producers. According to their Spotify duo, Billen Ted used to be a death metal band of all things but then transitioned into writing for dance-pop tunes, and have worked with 220 KID, even if this is technically only their second single. This remix is actually pretty cool to be honest, as it takes the original track and adds some needed energy, mostly through this generic 90s house beat and some admittedly really nice pianos. It’s nothing special, and I would usually criticise something this generic, but the song’s not even two minutes and it’s a pretty inoffensive remix that genuinely adds to the original song through that brilliant flip of the original hook melody in the drop, so I can’t complain. This won’t last, but I’m not mad that it’s here.
Conclusion
I’m actually somewhat pleased with this chart week, which I wasn’t expecting initially, as you can probably tell from my above cynicism. Regardless, we’ve got some variety here (though I don’t see much of it sticking) and I’ll give Best of the Week to Royal Blood for “Typhoons”, with a tied Honourable Mention for “Back to Basics” by Fredo, and, God damn it, “Wellerman” by Nathan Evans and remixed by 220 KID and Billen Ted. Shut up, it’s fun! Worst of the Week will probably go to Sabrina Carpenter’s “Skin”, with a Dishonourable Mention for the complete lack of effort that is M Huncho’s “Overpriced”, just being mildly offensive if anything. Here’s our top 10:
For next week, I mean, a girl can hope for some Weezer, but it’s more likely that we’ll be met with a Fredo album bomb and some scattered efforts from that middling Lil Durk deluxe edition. For now though, you can follow me @cactusinthebank for more ramblings and thanks for reading. I’ll see you next week.

Friday and September, please 💜💚💜💚💜💚
friday: most self-indulgent fic you have ever posted?
Hmm…probably Proof? I always try to write what I want, but that one was extra-indulgent. I actually briefly debated posting it at all, but it seems to be the most popular of the Mistyverse one shots, so I’m glad I did. Maybe people could tell I was enjoying myself? XD
september: share a comment or review which still warms your heart?
Literally all of them? *u*; Well, aside from the one that was basically just asking me to read their fic, and the one that told me they couldn’t like my fic because their favorite characters weren’t in it, and… *Ahem* Anyway…
How about this super-amazing one that made me cry (in the best way) and which I still haven’t replied to I feel so bad someday soon I promise:
So over the past week I have literally done nothing but spam read this entire series in and around work and sleep. I still have yet to feel like I can accurately depict just how utterly fantastic this series is; even after all that and ruminating over the hole in my heart for several days (that hole that comes after finishing a really good book). Just, ugh, this was so brilliantly written, characterized, paced, crafted, built... it was everything I never knew I needed and wanted from a One Piece story. Like everything. Easily the top story I've read in this fandom.
The world building was so well executed and so believably set into the world of the show/manga it hardly even registered that these characters weren't even actually canon characters. The agency and motives you gave Travis just blew me away and that's not even touching on the sucker punch of him having the Gomu gomu no mi.
I just loved the bit with the Mera Mera fruit and Luffy and the pseudo inheritance from Ace to Sabo to Luffy, it was so flawlessly executed that it could only read as the next logical conclusion by that point. Like, holy crap, I didn't even think of this conclusion but of course, here we are, duh! The little nuances with Ace's ghost and his presence was also another thing I adored that worked so well.
The end all be all though, for me, is I just am so in love with protective/loyal to his death Zoro and most chapters if not every one had me howling in joy at its presence. Topping that off with just an absurd amount of nakamaship and familial love and how they all interacted and dealt with the challenges thrown their way from the very first chapter of On The Misty Shore to the end of From Mist and Ashes was like icing on the cake.
Just thank you so much for writing this, it was a privilege to read and enjoy. It has been quite a while since you've finished this and I see that life hasn't always been terribly kind in your authors notes, so I hope this comment finds you happy and well and just know you rocked this fans world out of the bloody park!
#Replies#Anon#Thanks for the ask! I have nine comments to answer yikes#Plus a few reviews on FFN#I've started drafting responses#but I want to reply to them all at once so no one thinks I'm ignoring them on purpose#and so far I haven't had the spoons to get all of them done#but I'm going to reply to them before I start posting the new fic#for sure#Anonymous

Stole this from Twitter lol. Lost the og post but here’s the blank!
I tried to go for some bands that aren’t as completely well-known as well as some popular ones. I even tried to add some albums I’m fond of for those that I can tell the difference with! Breakdown and song recs under the cut!
(U don’t gotta for the meme, I just like talkin abt music lol)
Going by rows, we’ll start with Gorillaz. They’re usually the band I mention if someone asks my favs because I’ve been with em since their first album. All of their albums are really good, but I think I’ve had the most fun with Plastic Beach! Humanz is probably my next choice followed by Demon Days. An underrated song from Humanz is Out of Body!
Daft Punk is another group I’ve been with since Discovery, which is quite frankly still one of the best albums out there. Everyone loves One More Time and Harder Better Faster Stronger but one of their overlooked songs that I’m fond of is Face To Face!
Nine Inch Nails.... SIGH. Gotta be that edge, right? But let’s be fair, I’ve gone to the past like 5-6 concerts they’ve put on, I can’t say I’m NOT a fan lmfao. No fav albums since again... 5-6 concerts. That’s 5-6 album drops. They’re all so good. Not to mention I love Trent Reznor... One song I’d say doesn’t get as much attention as the rest is God Given. (But again... Ow the Edge)
Studio Killers! Hello! The band Tumblr has babied up since they first started... I even cosplayed as Cherry for the one con I went to haha. Everyone knows the Ode to the Bouncer, Jenny.... But the most absolute BOP that I’ve fallen in love with the instant I bought their album was Friday Night Gurus. Just WAIT til the chorus, okay!!!
Scissor Sisters start the next row and like... What can you even say about them. I’m surprised they aren’t more of a thing here on Tumblr, their music is so catchy and bouncy and they sing about the wildest things, not to mention I’m pretty sure most of the band is LGBT in some way! While I try to aim for the more vague songs, Don’t Feel Like Dancing is my jam morning noon and night. (Also just LOOK at that video!)
In This Moment was actually a surprise get for me. I first got to see them opening up for another couple of bands and they absolutely stole the show. If you can ever get the chance, see them in concert!! I describe her as the Lady Gaga of metal- her outfits are fantastic and she’s got some hella backup dancers! As for songs, the list goes on... Whore, Blood, Black Widow... But here, have her singing with Judas Priest in Black Wedding. Yes, another edgy band but it’s metal, what do you expect.
Janelle Monae’s entire Dirty Computer album is fantastic and if you haven’t watched the little movie she’s shot to go with it, go do it now! It’s on youtube, what are you even waiting for!! We all love Pynk, The Way You Feel, Crazy Classic Life... But not gonna lie, Americans still gives me chills when I hear it. Not only is it a bop but Janelle def doesn’t shy away from Shooting Shots.
Beck lmfao. I honestly wouldn’t have thought to add him if it wasn’t for the concert I managed to get tickets to not long ago. His concert was PHENOMENAL, not to mention this new album of his was so fun and catchy... I just can’t help now but to say I love him. Not to mention his older hits like Where It’s At and Loser... Colors and Up All Night are so good but the song that blew my mind in concert and I had to get the instant I got home was Saw Lightening.
Des Rocs actually popped up on my Pandora and I had to look him up! Not only do I dig the whole look and aesthetic (black leather jacket wearing greaser guys? Hell yea) but I absolutely do love the sound. It’s got this retro rock feel and like... If you could Bang a Voice, I’d def choose this one lmao. Let Me Live/Let Me Die was the one that started it for me... But don’t miss out on Used To the Darkness either!
Mitski... It actually took me a few times to get onto this Tumblr train but once I got there I wallowed in it. Most of her songs are on my Sad Bitch Hours playlist but you know what? I’d describe listening to her music as sort of cathartic, I can lay down and stare at the ceiling listening to Mitski for an hour and somehow feel rejuvenated. I think Geyser was actually the one that got me into liking her, but Pink In the Night and Strawberry Blonde of course are good.
Florence and the Machine is kinda in the same playlist as Mitski, but I do absolutely love a lot of her songs. Many of them make me rather emotional (My work started playing Hunger and I nearly teared up at the register? Wtf?) but I think that’s kinda why I dig it. Dog Days Are Over is gonna always be my most favorite of them, but if you want one I don’t see many others chatting about, go for Cosmic Love. Big God is also a wonderful video if you haven’t seen it yet.
I’ve already talked and mentioned the Dead South in a previous post, but man do I love these boys! People talk about Gothic Cowboys and boy do these guys deliver. Their songs can be about death, adultery, literally losing your mind, so many other sort of dark topics but with such a catchy tune! Long Gone is a song that I get stuck in my head quite often!
Gogol Bordello... Wow, there’s so much I can say about this band. I believe the lead singer is from the Ukraine, his pal on the fiddle is from a country I cannot pronounce, he has twin backup dancers that are Swedish-Chinese, he has a guitar player from Honduras- this really is just a rag-tag group of people from all over the place making some fantastic music! I was lucky enough to see them in concert and their energy is off the fucking charts, I absolutely adore this group! Most people learn of them from Start Wearing Purple, one of my faves tho has to be When the Trickster Starts A-Pokin’... Also they performed with Madonna once? Hello? (Also I’m in love with Sergio’s fiddlin tbh)
Sofi Tukker is another artist I stumbled upon while listening to Pandora. It seems like many of her songs have a different style than the others, but they’re all so very catchy and have a wonderful energy to them. Speaking of... The song that got me into her best was Energia. I literally cannot listen to this song without moving a little to it, it’s such a poppy and fun song! For an English song though, try Best Friend. (Batshit Crazy is one I find funny too!)
Gold Fish was one I actually had to dig for at the time- one of their songs was playing in the background of one of those shitty Kia Hamster commercials lmfao. It was SUCH a bop even in the commercial that I had to find it! (It was Fort Knox btw) Again, as a lot of my poppy choices here, there’s such a good energy and upbeat sound to everything they do, it’s wonderful listening to. I actually love putting these guys on when doing chores around the house, it’s fun and gets the energy flowing and makes things a little more enjoyable! One that I also love to turn people towards is Get Busy Living. If you can’t tell between these two songs, they’re actually a sort of DJ-ish band- different vocalists and different sounds mixed in, but it’s all very well done!
Jain, another found treasure from a commercial... (Makeba was in a Levi’s commercial lol) I was reading that she was born in France, went to live in India for schooling, and wound up in South Africa to learn different musical stylings there- and it all very well feels like her music flows with all these different influences! I hate when stores use the generic word “ethnic” but I think her music and voice can very well fit in that sort of category. She’s got a lot of bouncy, poppy songs, but also a few more mellow songs as well... But of course I really love the bouncy stuff haha. If you need a song to get your heart pumping in the morning, I’d def recommend Star! A stranger sort of song that still has a great feel is Hope!

chapter six
The alarm pierced the silence of friday morning at 5am. You snoozed it groggily and buried your face into your pillow. You hadn’t slept properly at all. With the nerves of the show and the nerves of the promise you’d made to John.
“You didn’t pick up on the subtext that I’m definitely kissing you the next time I see you?”
You hadn’t kissed anybody in years. And back then, it was probably totally different. Maybe nowadays they wanted only tongue. Sometimes you slipped a glance at whatever your co-workers were righting. Kissing and sex were at the top of the list of celebrity scandals and sometimes they terrified you. What the hell was the world doing?
A piercing call made you jump. It wasn’t your alarm, but your phone ringing in the living room. The floorboards were cold as you raced barefooted to answer it.
“Y/N!” Rose shrieked in your ear as soon as you. You winced and held the phone further from yourself.
“Rose, what the fuck.” You groaned annoyed.
“She broke her leg!”
Your mind was struggling to connect the dots. Everything was hazy in the morning and you just really wanted some coffee.
“She broke it. It snapped in half like a fucking twig.”
“You’ve lost me.”
“Frances! The prima!”
Slowly, the pieces were beginning to fit together. “What happened to her?”
“Freak accident! She was hit while driving. Or being driven around like the spoi-”
“Rose! She’s injured!”
“Oh yeah! You know what that means don’t you?”
“Rose you’re going to have to stop with the guessing games, I just woke up,” you mumbled and rubbed your forehead.
Rose shrieked on the other end impatiently. “Y/N you don’t get it. You’re the understudy.”
The phone slipped out of your hand as your arms went numb. Holy shit, you thought. If the original prima was unavailable, you’d be the one dancing. You were going to dance as Odette. That was your moment. It took a few seconds and then you screamed.
“Rose! I’m going to be dancing as a prima!” You were jumping around in hysterics. Then you paused for a moment and picked up the phone. “You didn’t have anything to do with the accident, did you?”
Rose giggled. “Of course not.”
“How come you’re the one calling me, not the studio or the teachers?”
“You never gave your number to the studio. I think half your documents are missing, you really need to get your shit in order. You’re going to be prima.”
“I’m going to be a prima!”
“Yes! Now get ready you dumbass, you’ve got a crowd to win over!”
You hopped around in excitement a bit more until you rushed to shower and get dressed. The sun was slowly peeking from the horizon and you grinned at your reflection in the mirror. Adrenaline coursed through your veins. It’d all been worth it. All of it.
London was only rising when you stepped into the musty tube carriage. Drunks coming home from nights slept away from their own beds and people in similar situations like yours, where work and life just started early. You flipped through a stranded newspaper, relieved that you didn’t find your own name among the pages.
You thought about John and how proud he’d be when he’d see you. He didn’t know about the news. Would he recognize you with heavy show make up and an tight bun? Would he wear a t-shirt and jeans combination? What did he know about ballet? Nerves coiled in your stomach, but you let them be. It was your day.
Across the city in a tiny student flat, John Deacon lay awake. He had tossed and turned all night thinking of you, your dance and your promise. He followed the cracks in the paint on the ceiling with his eyes, eyes tired but mind not letting him sleep.
The fact was, John Deacon had fallen in love. With your absent-minded gaze and with your babbling. With the way you stared off at him when you thought he couldn’t see. With the perfect way your palm fit into his. With the way your voice made him want to write a thousand embarrassing and poor quality love songs. And as he breathed and lay awake and pondered the great mysteries of the universe, he was brought back to the first night you had met.
Your eyes had glinted in the multicoloured lights of the show and you had been so mesmerised by the act on stage. And when you knocked on their dressing room door with confidence, John had almost felt apprehensive towards you. Like every interviewer, you were going to spin your own story without listening to them. But then you talked and listened and laughed at his jokes and suddenly the light caught your hair in a new glow and John came to love the confident interviewer in you. Not stuck up, not cruel and not fake. Just confident.
He loved how you let life take you but didn’t stand for its bullshit. How you were so vocal about issues in the workplace and misogyny in dancing and the issues in falling in love with an art and a person at the same time.
Overall, he just loved you. And sometimes it felt so stupid, so foolish to lie awake and dream of your peachy lips and rose scent but today of all days, the butterflies felt good. They felt promising.
The day wore on. With little sleep he walked to the studio, enjoying the fresh air and trying to ignore the growing fog in his mind. The boys couldn’t stop yelling today. He just sat in the corner, pouring over his notes for the song that you suggested he write.
It was called Misfire and it was exactly what it sounded like. He laughed when he thought about how you’d react to the lyrics. How you’d have a hesitant smirk at first, and then you’d be bouncing to the music, like the little ball of joy u were. Along the margins, he’d scrawled notes for another song he wasn’t quite ready to pull together. Words like sunshine, and my best friend jumped out from the messy handwriting, but otherwise it was almost illegible.
“He’s got her show today,” Freddie whispered over coffee. Brian and Roger were giving each other the silent treatment over Dear Friends and John was silent in the corner, scribbling his notes down. “Do you think he’s writing her a love song?” He continued.
“What, Deaky?” Brian looked up from his cup. “He doesn’t seem the type. His first song for Queen being a love song.”
“Bri’s right. He’ll write something silly. He’s like that.” Roger added. The argument diffused as fast as it had started. “You forget he’s only twenty two.”
“Twenty three in two weeks, right?”
“Yeah.”
They all looked at him simultaneously. John felt their stares and looked up, flashing a gap-toothed smile. “What?”
“Nothing,” they all replied in unison.
“You excited about seeing Y/N today? Do you need a suit?”
“Freddie,” John rolled his eyes and snapped his notebook shut. “I have a suit. The funky checkered and white one.”
“Aw,” Brian leaned on his hands. “Will Y/N like it?”
“Shut up, you all,” John walked over and took his coffee, black with one sugar, and took a sip. “I’m perfectly capable of going to see a ballet on my own. No need to be babied.”
“But you’re so small!” Roger grinned but John gave him a death glare.
“Bring her roses,” Freddie advised him. “You always give roses to a ballerina after a performance.”
“Gee, Freddie, you seem to know so much, why don’t you go instead? Kiss her for me as well.” John stuck his tongue out.
“You’re going to kiss her? John that’s first base!” Brian teased.
“I hate you all.” John groaned.
“We love you too,” they replied in unison once more.
“And she’s going to love you too,” Freddie grinned.
After an exhausting day of teasing for John and training for you, evening was drawing nearer. The girls were all in one room, putting glitter and makeup on each other’s faces and brushing up hair into tight buns.
“Y/N’s man is coming over today,” Rose told a girl who was dancing next to her, a she was applying mascara.
“Rose,” you warned her slightly.
“Ooh, who is it?” The girl, Pamela, blinked fast, adjusting to the mascara.
“This guy, he’s called John.” You mumbled, incredibly flustered suddenly.
“John Deacon.”
“Who the hell is that?” Beverly, the girl who danced as Odile asked.
“Only the bassist of Queen.” Rose bragged.
“Rose! Shut up, we’re barely dating.”
Rose mouthed, it’s because she’s a prude behind your back and the rest of the girls giggled.
“Well, Y/N, I hope your man can behave at a ballet show, if he’s from a rock band.” Pamela pumped her brows up a bit.
“He’s great! Calm, sweet, but so energetic.” You told them.
“Fantastic.” Beverly clapped her hands together. “I hope he’ll enjoy our show.”
“And what comes after it,” Rose teased. You frowned at her but didn’t reply. The bustling of the crowd outside was finally heard through the walls of the dressing room. Some children, younger siblings and all that, parents, boyfriends, girlfriends, dedicated friends all walking into the auditorium with an excited buzz.
Among them was John, fiddling nervously with a bouquet he’d bought for you. Red roses, almost blooming. He hoped they’d last through the show. Some people did a double take when they saw him, perplexed not only by his imposing height but also his long hair. A young girl came up and asked for an autograph, scribbled on the program they were handed at the entrance.
The auditorium was huge. Seats for maybe thousands. He elbowed his way to the front rows, hoping to have the best view of your dance. You’d told him you were dancing in the background with your friends Rose and Pamela and that when you wore identical makeup, it was almost impossible to separate you, except by Rose’s red locks. He had promised you he’d be able to recognize you among clones and you had playfully shoved him on the shoulder, although you were very happy.
The lights dimmed and the show started, delicate beginning notes being played on the piano. And then the main character he was told was called Odette danced on stage.
His breath stilled. It was you. You with your tight stage bun and glimmering makeup, so strong you were almost unrecognizable. But it definitely was you. You danced with a sorrow in your step. He was told that the story was really quite sad, and he saw it in your mourning movements.
You were so graceful, he couldnt help but be in awe that he was so lucky to have you. Occasionally, when the music turned to a minor key and the dance turned into sadness and pain, he felt tears brimming in his eyes. When Freddie gushed about ballet, he had been skeptical at whether it was truly possible to convey such intense emotions through dance, but when he saw you in action, all his doubts dissipated.
You received a standing ovation. Well, from John. Everybody was clapping heartily, having enjoyed the show. Some people had stood up with John, others were wiping their eyes. Some children had already began an excited gabble to their parents about the show.
John beat the crowd outside, managed to get to the front of the buzzing people. He couldn’t stop his grin. He heard the girls chattering to themselves on the other side. Somebody screamed in joy and everybody laughed.
You were only separated by a pair of sturdy oak doors and a dimly lit hallway where at the end every dancer was cursing their sore legs and undoing tight hairdos. Rose helped to take out all your pins and you did the same for her whilst gushing in excitement.
“That went really well, don’t you think?” You smiled at her as she tried to to remove some of the glitter plastered on your face, with little success.
“I think so, yes,” she paused for a moment, tilting your head back to get some of the stuff off your neck. “Did you see him?”
You looked at her and smiled. “Well, uh no, not really, I got so caught in the stage and the motion and the music. But I felt him, y’know? Like, his dopey grin just shone to me.”
“Aw, Y/N’s been turned into a sap,” Beverly joked, pulling on a sweater and trousers.
“Excuse me, you would too, if you were around him.”
“I wish I had someone,” Pamela wiped off her lipstick and grimaced.
Rose looked at her quickly, flushed a bright red only you noticed and then turned back to you, smiling sheepishly, saying nothing. You studied her face and caught her eye but didn’t say anything.
“You ready?” She whispered as you glanced in the mirror one more time before nodding and leaving the dressing room.
The chatter was becoming more obvious the more you neared the exit. Pushing the heavy doors open, a pang of hot air hit your face and then you were out and you heard the excitement and the little children and your eyes were searching the crowd.
When you saw him, with his lopsided bowtie and gorgeous red roses he was holding, your heart stopped. He was grinning, ear to ear, flushed with pride. John thought you were so beautiful, breathtaking, with your hair just taken down from a tight stage bun, show make up still glimmering slightly on your face.
Cupid twisted the arrow he’d embedded into your heart and common sense was thrown out of the window. The feeling of being in love embraced you and left your heart soaring. Nothing could stop you as you ran up to him and before he could open his mouth to congratulate you, you took his face in your hands and on tiptoes you kissed him, slightly missing the center of his lips but hitting the mark all the same.
He kissed back, almost dropping the roses. It wasn’t ferocious or possessive, it was sweet. He tasted of cigarettes and red wine and the smell of his cologne flooded your nose. It was like a dance, synchronised, almost practiced. It was perfect, passionate and soft.
When you pulled away, slightly out of breath, he was starstruck, eyes shining. “Wow, I-” he blinked and laughed. “If I got a kiss everytime I went to your shows, I would’ve come sooner.” You giggled and took the roses.
“Thank you.” People were staring, but you didn’t care. “Really, it means a lot.” He was still grinning like an idiot and you were sure the same grin graced your face, eyes squinting, nose wrinkly, all in the glory of being in love.
He giggled then he leaned down and pressed his forehead against yours. “You were so amazing dancing, I kept thinking I know her. You’re my favourite celebrity.”
"Oh, I'm hardly a celebrity," you laughed, blushing.
He handed you the roses after one more kiss and you marveled at how good they smelled. He had held them so close to him that part of his cologne had gotten stuck to it as well, and you revelled in the scent.
More people came up and congratulated you, a bit intimidated by John’s presence but happy for you all the same. A small child ran into you for a hug and gushed about you being their favourite princess. He was pulled away from you by embarrassed parents.
After the crowd had cleared a bit, John laced his fingers with yours. “Can I take you out to dinner?”
“Of course,” you smiled at him softly and on your tiptoes, kissed his cheek. You felt like you were in the best place. Warm and comfortable with his hand in yours, his hair tickling your face as he leaned down and whispered more compliments to you about the performance to you.
He lead you out, where the evening had darkened to night, making jokes and acting like the happiest man on earth.
“John?”
“Yes love?”
“Thank you,” you grinned as his eyes found yours and sparkled.
“What for?”
“For the roses. And the kiss. You’re a great kisser.”
“Oh?”
You nodded with a serious expression.
“Well, I’m not actually really sure how I think of you as a kisser, can I kiss you again? Just to be sure?”
You giggled and let him softly cup your face with his hands and lean down to kiss you gently. He pulled away fast and had a mockingly thoughtful expression on his face and he smacked his lips. “Hm, I’m not quite sure yet,” he teased before leaning down again. You giggled into the kiss, arms wrapping around him.
Your heart fluttered, but not from nervousness or confusing feelings which had been far too present for the past three weeks. Your heart was fluttering because you were in love and you were happy and okay with it. You were more than okay with it. You loved it.

Scruff's Top 5 - Karaoke/Hickman wedding/Firehouse x2
This week was one of new experiences, self reflection, and humility. It's great when you open up a potential new avenue of revenue, testing it out might be a little nerve wrecking but when it all comes together the possibilities are endless. Looking in the mirror knowing that you have work to do to stay relevant is a hard pill to swallow, after you see the reflection what you decide to do from that point on is when the real journey begins. Playing at a certain location multiple times can be quite humbling, and yet at the same time empowering. When this starts to happen you tend to look at the original big picture, this is when the magical sparks start to fly. Thursday night I hosted the first S&E Karaoke night at The Lounge here in sheldon. The event was put on by the Young Professionals group of Sheldon, the organization is trying to fit in activities that appeal to adults between the ages20-40, trying to keep the town of sheldon thriving. The Lounge which is in the same building as Cook's Cafe and Langer's Bar and Grill donated the space to help bring the vision to life. Being that this was the first ever karaoke event I had to host I can admit that I was a little nervous. After setting up and testing things out, I was quite hopeful that we would have lots of fun and that this wouldn't be the last time that we would be hosting the event. The event started at 7 and right at the beginning we had a crowd gathering to sing and create a fun loving atmosphere or drinks and vocal folly. I was quite happy with this because that meant I wouldn't have to sing many songs to keep things rolling. I did kick the night off with my own rendition of The Backstreet Boy's classic I want it that way. Needless to say I was glad that was the only song you hear coming from lips that evening. I enjoy singing along to music, but putting a mic in my hand is very different. I have one of those solo voices, so low that only I can hear it; in the shower. Throughout the course of the night we had up to 25 people engaged in their favorites songs, ranging from classic country to 80's rap and some rock and roll. Whatever the track, you could tell that everyone was having fun. We only had a 2 hour slot for the first event, just in case no one had come out to party. I'm positive that this won't be the last time we do karaoke for the Young Professionals, I also think that we will be adding this to our wedding packages in the fur as well. After leaving The Lounge I made my way down to the Firehouse in Sioux City. The manager at the bar had been trying to get me to play on their Thirsty Thursday night for awhile now. Since I took the night off of work for karaoke I was able to make it happen this week, I was excited to see how different the night was going to be compared to the weekends. Now usually when I play at the Firehouse it's top 40's open format style of play. This night was different though, I had people come out to the bar just because they knew I was playing and they wanted to hear house music. So for the first time in a long time I was able to play house hits for at least 80% of the night. I had the occasional request for the songs like The Git Up and the Cupid Shuffle so I had to switch things up for a little bit, but for the most part it was house all night long. House music is definitely my passion genre and I would love to play out some more, after listening to my set I realized that I needed to work on my house mixing. Yes, I have a radio show in which I only play electronic music but that's different than playing a house set at a bar or club. It's time to hit the drawing board and work on the performance side of my craft. Once I get back to the level I need to be at I want to try and introduce a house themed night for the Firehouse. The owner is quite open to many different ideas and hopefully this is something that he would be on board with. It's quite humbling knowing that people came out just because they knew I was playing, it does stroke the ego just bit, but it also motivates me to be a better artist. I can't expect people to follow me, or come out to my shows if i'm not bringing the best sounds to ever hit their eardrums. It's time to grow and that just means more discipline, consistency, and practice. By spring I want to be able to look back at this post and know from my heart that I have done what it takes to play better, not just for the fans of the music, but most importantly for myself and the music culture. Friday I had the Vander Plaats/Hickman wedding in Sioux Center at the Terrace View Event Center. Walking in the building you felt the magic in the air. The design and decorations were straight out of a fairytale. The lobby had the photo shoot cozy feel with candles lit and a comfy couch in front of a backdrop of white balloons. A fountain of punch and pictures of Kari and Forrestal hanging on the wall. The main banquet room was spectacular, a back drop of low emitting lights setting the mood for an intimate meal, the head table set on a platform with a love seat for the newlyweds with a sign hanging above with their initials. Outside chairs set up for the wedding ceremony, it was really breathtaking. We started the night off in a non traditional way, we had dinner before making our way outside for the ceremony. Blue mountain catered the meal and that was very delicious, we had classic styled sodas to enjoy during the ceremony, and a full cake and doughnut bar for our dessert. After Some beautiful speeches by the maid of honor and best man we continued the evening with the special dances accompanied by slideshows with pictures highlighting both Kari and Forrestal individually, as well as together starting a new chapter in their lives. We danced the night away to hits from the all across the board. It was truly an honor to be a part of their special day, Kari was dressed in an elegant dress, Forrestal was decked out in a navy blue suit which accompanied his wife perfectly. Saturday night I made my way back to the Firehouse for an evening of shenanigans. The place was packed and I hit them hard right out the gate. We connected with tracks from the 90's such as Shoop, U can Do it, Fantastic Voayage, and Ghetto Superstar. I played some of the classics from the 2000's such as Yeah, Candy shop, Get Low, and Naughty Boy. The 2010's are a little harder to dance to but I got them going with the Git Down, Cupid Shuffle, Wobble, and of course hits from guys like Tyga, DaBaby, and Megan Thee Stallion. Sometimes I have to remember the songs that I play definitely affect the mood of the evening, I noticed the crowd getting a little rowdy when I played tracks such as Whoop that Trick, and Rep Yo City. At the same time when I had a request for some old school rock and roll things calmed down as I played Thunderstruck by ACDC. The remote was in my hand and I controlled the volume, overall we had a great time partying. The bar was full, the staff was happy, and the vibes were good. I call that a successful evening and the end to another week in music. Now all I have to do is record my radio show and get prepared for the next week.
Gold Digger (Richastic Remix) - Kanye West ft. Ray Charles
Brighter Days (Odd Mob Remix) - Cajmere Ft. Dajae
Mint Tea - Jack Moure
House Phone - Zookeper
Rhythm In My Brain - Mason

Here's some stuff to do and listen to.
7/20/18
Are you ready to receive some suggestions to entertain your fine selves? ‘Cause I’m ready to give it.
For those who are local: My dad and brother run NYFO together for Green Bay. What’s NYFO? WELL. “NYFO 7on7 Football is the next generation of player development, no matter your skill set. NYFO is the NATIONAL GOVERNING BODY for 7on7 & Non-contact Football. Our leagues, camps, and training exist to ultimately transition better, safer, and more fundamentally sound knowledgeable players. NYFO is committed to helping every player in our program improve no matter their skill level. By doing so we will ultimately enhance the sport of football, from youth organizations through the NFL. NYFO is ‘Non-Contact’ For parents, ‘non-contact’ can be translated into ‘one-hand touch.’ Without the distraction of full-contact, players can focus on fundamentals. With so much negative media attention given to concussions and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), 7on7 offers parents a safer alternative for kids wanting to play football.” Quick additional info: They offer programs for age groups 8U, 10U, 13U, 15U, and 18U. Go to their website if you’re interested in signing your kids up! Okay but anyway, if you need something to do this Friday you should go to a Bullfrogs baseball game! Bullfrogs “Stars Of Tomorrow” fundraiser family & friend tickets are $18 and include your ticket (duh), a Bullfrogs hat, a hot dog, AND a soda! A damn steal if you ask me. It helps out NYFO and you’ll have something fun to do! All registered players from NYFO get in free with and a portion of the proceeds from family/friends tickets sales going to the NYFO by simply using code “NYFO7on7” at the point of purchase. Go to greenbaybullfrogs.com, click Buy Tickets Now in the top right corner, and enter the promo code (NYFO7on7). Gates open at 6:05pm and the game is at 7:05pm! See you at the diamond on July 20th! Give them a follow on Instagram! @greenbay.nyfo
I never really blog about music for how passionate I am about it. I have mentioned before that I sing, too. I’d love music even if I couldn’t sing though. Anyway, everyone loves finding new music, right? I’m gonna tell you my most listened to artists and songs on my Spotify. First, I’ll tell you how I found this data. I found this question forum on this link: https://www.quora.com/Is-there-a-way-to-see-my-most-played-artists-songs-in-Spotify. You’ll see in the answer that there’s Spotify.Me or there’s ManageMyMusic to see your most listened to stuff. Spotify.Me is intricate and gives you information like your favorites, streaming habits, and listening insights. Apparently, what I listen to the most is considered to be a bunch of different types of “pop.” I don’t know if I agree with that. They also tell me that “I know what I want” because 84% of my favorite artists are within my most-listened to genre. That I can agree with. It says I’m high energy lately in my streaming choices, but I don’t see it. I have been choosing really chill music, in my opinion. The other link in that question/answer forum is called ManageMyMusic and it gives you a ton of lists; Top artists and tracks for the “Short Term (4 weeks),” the “Medium Term (6 months),” and for the “Long Term (Years).” I’ll give you my top ten for each category, though I know there will be overlapping. I obviously love everything I am about to include so please give this stuff a listen. You’re about to get an intimate peek at my soul.

Honestly, the first 5 tracks do surprise me a little, but that was back when I had my music on constantly when I was single and home alone quite often. I remember keeping those on repeat for hours at times, so I’m not sure how accurate that actually is only because of that fact. This was all super cool to see, though. Some of it was expected, some unexpected. Either way, I hope I gave you some new stuff to listen to! And you should check out for own profiles. Nice opportunity to learn a little about yourself.
This past weekend, it was pretty warm out. Baby and I wanted to get Nugget a sprinkler so I took the little one with me to the store aaaaand they were sold out. Due to all the warmth. So I bought Nugget some water guns instead. We got 2 smaller ones and 2 larger ones for THIRTEEN DOLLARS, TOTAL. YEAH. This s’mom was shocked by that price, that’s for sure. We played and sprayed when we got home. Baby and Nugget had some fun together. The first thing Nugget did when we filled his gun though was spray me right in the (get ready) vagina. Yes. Then he yells, “I’M SPRAYING YOU IN THE PARTS.” I was like, “Uhhhhh, let’s not spray anyone’s parts and also let’s talk about anyone’s parts. It’s not polite and those are private” LOL. He’s never said anything to me about private parts or anything so that was new to me. He walks into my room when I’m changing a fair amount of the time and I know for a fact he’s seen more than I meant him to, but he has never asked questions, pointed anything out, etc. I think it’s important to set an example for your children in the sense to be comfortable with their bodies and such. This might be a whole new chapter with Nugget! We will see. Enough about my “parts” and back to the water guns. Baby said that on one of the weeks that we don’t have Nugget, that he wants to do a water gun race with me. I got 2 free beach balls from Sprint when I got a new phone last week (among a ton of other free shit, which I'll tell y'all about soon) and Baby said we should see whoever can get the beach ball across our backyard the fastest by spraying them with the water guns. I honestly think that sounds more fun than any idea I've ever had LOL. It reminds me of when I almost bought us both Nerf guns. So, if things are little mundane (or even if they’re not) maybe you and your love should find your inner children together! Get water-balloons and have a water-balloon fight, chalk up your driveway, set up obstacle courses, have a scavenger hunt! You can make it interesting by making fun deals. Whoever loses has to make dinner, for example. I think we will try all of these ideas eventually.
Speaking of shopping with Nugget, I am in the process of teaching him about not asking for toys every time we go. Baby went through a break up after a 3 year relationship before we was with me. He told me that he felt awful that Nugget no longer had two people raising him and Baby made up for that by buying Nugget toys every time they went to the store. I could tell there was a reason why Nugget would ask like clockwork what toy he would get every time we went shopping. I have been working on breaking Nugget of that expectation, as well as working on having him appreciate the things he has at home. I explain to him Daddy and I only have a certain amount of dollars and that its usually only enough to buy what we needed from the store in the first place. He actually understands this concept very well. He always asks why we are going to the store, so I always have the opportunity to tell him what we need to buy. When we went to buy the sprinkler he asked me, "Can we get a toy from here?" and I replied with, "Buddy, remember what we came here for?" He answered correctly about buying a sprinkler. I said in a very positive tone, "Yep and I'm pretty sure we only have enough dollars for a sprinkler. And you also have a bunch of toys at home that you love to play with." We walked by a few things that piqued his interest. As we walked by some bubble-guns, he goes, "Oooh, those look fun. But we only have dollars to get the sprinkler." I was so proud of him for making this connection and also proud of myself for explaining it to him so that he really does understand this. I was raised by people who didn't explain things. It was always a "because I said so" type of world and I learned to accept it. I won't put Nugget in that world, though. I want him to recognize reasoning and be able to grasp why things are the way they are. He is incredibly intelligent and capable of knowing this information. I also want him to trust me and be honest with me as we grow together, so the first step is me trusting him and being honest with him first. Just wanted to share my super proud s'mom moment of the week. I'll be back tomorrow with new recipes for you!

1+2p Hetalia High {Ch.3}
(Kat)
let’s delve into some more madness.
{Kat}'s POV
It was getting late so I drove home. I took in all of the bags and set them down. I sat on the couch and held the cupcake in my hand. It wouldn't be a good idea to eat it. He wouldn't blow his cover by poisoning the cupcake.
I mean probably not, but I dunno man.
Right? I decided against eating it and put it on my counter. I went upstairs and changed into my pajamas. I flopped onto my {Purple} bed.
My bed isn’t purple but okay.
Friday. The day I can sleep in and not worry about homework.
Um.
You have school on Friday.
I fell into a deep sleep. I woke up to loud knocks at my front door. I moaned grumpily. I was so close to eating a giant marshmallow.
None the less I walked downstairs with my messy {Brown} hair. "I'm coming! Stop banging on the door!" I said. The banging didn't stop. I sighed and opened the door. Standing there were the allies along with the axis. "What are you guys all doing here!?" I asked surprised. A lot of them had notable blushes. Shit. I remembered i'm only wearing short shorts and a tank top.
No bra in front of many men.
I closed the door enough to cover everything except my face. "Okay now what do you want." I asked blushing slightly. "W-Well sorry to intrude. But we wanted to make sure you were okay." Arthur said still having a large blush.
Why wouldn’t I be fine?
"I'm fine. Like I told those three yesterday." I said pointing at the axis. "Do you mind if we come in love?" England asked.
Stop calling me that.
I nodded and opened the door letting them in. "I'm going to get changed." I said running up the stairs. I came back a little later with a t-shirt that said "fries before guys" and longer shorts.
My sister has a shirt like that.
I also had combed my hair. "Okay i'm back." I said walking down the stairs. The countries were looking at the flags I had on my walls. "You like flags love?" Arthur said looking at the British flag.
"Yea. I love countries actually." I said smiling. "Kesesese I see the frau (girl) has good tastes in flags!" Gilbert said looking at the Prussian flag.
Sure, I just casually hang a flag from a dead nation on my wall.
That’s normal.
I stood next to him "Well Prussia is the most awesome country in existence." I said also looking at the flag.
IT WAS DISSOLVED IN 1947 IT NO LONGER EXISTS IN 2018.
Gilbert blushed "Ja! Exactly!" Gilbert said trying to hide the blush.
wAI.
I heard loud scrambling sounds as my dog ran into the living room jumping on, and knocking down Ludwig. He started licking his face all over.
I laughed as Ludwig smiled and pet the dog while it was still on him. "Mantequillas! (Butters!) Down!"
Still a weird as heck name for a dog.
I said making him get off of Ludwig. He sat at Ludwig's feet. Ludwig gave him a belly rub. "Hey what's that on the table?" I asked pointing to some dishes of food. "We all made you some food to say thank you!" Feliciano said smiling. "Oh you guys didn't have to!"
I like how they just casually pamper me.
I said. Wait something's missing. Where's the cupcake from last night!? I saw Arthur holding the cupcake with a horrified look on his face.
We can address your irrational fear of cupcakes later, Arthur.
"I meant to throw that away! Just give it to me Arthur." I said trying to take the cupcake from him. He wouldn't let me have it. "{Kat} where did you get this from?" Arthur asked sternly. "I got it from a bakery." I said half telling the truth. "Did a man with strawberry orangey hair give it to you? Did he look like me? Did you eat any of this?" Arthur questioned getting in my face.
"U-Um…" I gulped. "Dude what's wrong?" Alfred said looking at Arthur. Arthur was distracted for a second so I was able to take the cupcake away from him. I ran and threw it in the trash. "There it's gone. Happy?" I said looking at Arthur. He looked guilty "Sorry love.
StOp.
I didn't mean to get into your face about it." Arthur apologized. "It's fine Arthur." I said smiling again. I turned my head towards the counter. I knew it. One of the plates had the black rocks I knew as England's scones.
Oh go figure.
Arthur noticed me looking at them and picked up the plate. "T-These are my best batch yet. I-It's not like I made these specially for you. I just had extra that's it."
And now he’s being tsundere. Which is normal.
He said turning away and blushing. Well I guess I had to die at some point.
Wow.
"I-It's okay Arthur i'm not hungry." I lied. My stomach gave me away by growling. "You don't want one do you?" Arthur said looking crushed. "No one ever wants one." he said sadly. Great now I have to do this. I grabbed a scone from the plate.
Welp. I guess I’ll die young.
The rest of the group gasped. "I w-would love to have o-one!" I said trying to smile. Arthur looked hopeful as I brought the death scone closer to my mouth. "{KAT}! NOOO!" I heard Alfred scream as he tackled me.
America is quite a bit larger than me, so--
Ouch.
The scone fell to the floor making a black mark on my tile. America landed on me hurting the bruise on my stomach. "AUGH!" I yelled as the bruise got hit. Ivan ran over and threw Alfred off of me. "Sunflower are you okay?" Ivan asked.
WHY DO YOU ALL HAVE NICKNAMES FOR ME?!?!
I held my stomach while on the floor. I had a few tears in my eyes. Ludwig ran over and tried to help. "Where does it hurt!?" he asked worried. I was starting to calm down "M-My s-stomach…." I moaned.
Well, I mean, America weighs around 190lbs seeing as he’s around 5′10″, so yeah. Me, at my 140lbs body weight, would have been crushed if he’d just launched himself onto me.
Matthew kneeled down next to me and lifted my shirt enough to see my stomach. The group's eyes widened as they saw the huge bruise the bully had left. It covered about half of my stomach.
Dude bruises don’t form that fast.
"That bastard!" Lovino yelled. I tried to get up but Francis picked me up. "Don't move mon cher (my dear)."
Thanks?
he said putting me on the couch. The pain eventually subsided. "T-Thank you Francis." I said. "THAT BASTARD HURTING YOU LIKE THAT!" Lovino yelled angrily. "It's alright Lovi." I said. Wait shit he hates that nickname. Lovino blushed "IT'S NOT ALRIGHT. I HOPE HIS MARINARA SAUCE NEVER STICK TO HIS PASTA!"
Why the heck are they all babying me so much?
I hate it.
Lovino said ignoring what I called him. Feliciano gasped. I laughed out loud. Eventually the group left.
They left fast.
I had to put all the food I couldn't eat away. I feel so freaking full. I think I may have eaten twice my weight. I needed to take a walk to help my digestion. I lived fairly close to some woods.
I put on my hiking boots, grabbed my outdoor bag,
Outdoor bag? You mean like a backpack?
What does an indoor bag look like?
and walked out the door locking it behind me. I stuck on the path until I heard some growling mixed with whimpering. I walked off the path to find where it had come from.
I followed the sound until I found a wolf trapped in a bear trap. It growled and snarled at me. I slowly approached it stopping at a safe distance. I let him smell me. He calmed down and started to just whimper. I walked up to the trap.
Stay away from wild animals, kids.
They can carry diseases, no matter how cute they are.
Also, where do I live? Alaska? Montana? Canada? The state I live in has no wolves. All we have is coyotes. And possibly foxes.
I found a large rock and started hitting the trap. Eventually it released. The wolf tried to run away but it's leg
Its*
Putting the contraction of ‘it is’ makes no sense in this sentence.
was too badly injured from all the struggling it was doing. I took out some bandages from my pack and wrapped it around the wolf's leg. It stopped the bleeding and the wolf limped away after licking my hand.
Injured wild animals will attack.
This is a known fact.
I smiled. FUDGE YEA! {KAT} HEALER OF ANIMALS! I yelled in my thoughts. "You healed it pretty well." someone said from behind. I jumped and turned around in a fighting stance. SHIT. Not another one! Standing in front of me was 2p! Canada. "Calm down. I'm not gonna hurt you. I'm James."
James?
No.
2p! Canada’s name is Matt or Mattieu.
It was given to him by Himaruya.
he said holding his hand out. I hesitated then shook it. "I see you helped that wolf." James said. "I couldn't leave the poor thing like that." I said truthfully. James smiled and smirked. "Hmph. Hot and likes animals. My type of girl." James said eyeing me.
Why does this happen to me. I heard someone scream "JAMES YOUR BEAR GOT OUT!"
That’s casual.
someone screamed as a giant polar bear ran towards us. CRAP! I tried to get out of the way but the bear pushed me down to the ground. The bear bit the collar of my shirt and picked me up.
Welp. I’m going to die.
He sat down and dropped me onto his belly wrapping his giant arms around me like I was a plushy. His fur is so soft! "What the hell." James said confused. "YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE A BLOOD THIRSTY ANIMAL NOT CUDDLING RANDOM GIRLS KUMA!" James said trying to pry me away from his bear. The bear growled and James backed off. "Great. Just great." James said sighing. "Oh my god he is so cute." I said with fluffy bear arms around me. Another man walked up next to Canada. FOR THE LOVE OF THE FROG UNIVERSE.
The what now?
Standing next to 2p! Canada was the bat wielding man 2p! America. I was not having a good start for the weekend.
Oh, this is just fantastic.
I’ll review the next chapter soon.
I’ll see you guys later.
